got a worm nibbling my brain. can someone help me find a piece of obscure media?

webcomic/indie comic from the 2010s. basically a sci-fi short story about a young girl (with red hair?) who was being raised by scientists as part of an experiment. she receives a haircut/has her head shaved, in preparation for her annual brain scan/testing. it is revealed that while her body is human, her "brain" is artificial, made of computer implants throughout her skull and spine. at some point her biological mother (also a scientist on the same campus?) encounters her and is repulsed, viewing her as a machine who has murdered her daughter.

it was very poignant and it bruised my heart and i can NOT find it anywhere

Eons ago I was crying because Sai ate this image and refused to give it back. It acted like this picture just did not exist and I spent hours trying to recover it. SOMEHOW when I transferred my folders from my laptop to my PC, the image magically and miraculously reappeared and I found it today and I am ECSTATIC for y'all to finally see it! I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but for a long time now I've noticed huge swaths of people following me after going through my entire blog spam-liking my rise fanart, and ignoring literally everything else- and to those people I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I will not be drawing rise fanart again.

the thing about animating is sometimes you get so into your own head you're like this sequence of frames makes complete sense and is 100% comprehensible to a first time viewer and then you walk away and come back to it two hours later, when you're two hours more tired, and you yourself can barely comprehend the timing you yourself put together anymore
