Asra

A leather-bound book falls to Asra’s feet from the stack he’s putting away onto the shelves.

He hadn’t really noticed it until now, among all the knickknacks of the shop it seems like any ordinary notebook but he’s struck by familiarity. 

It’s like the book and its contents are calling to him, like a long-forgotten memory.

Kneeling, Asra hesitantly turns the open book over and there is… a drawing of him. Sitting slouched against a table as his hand hovers over an image of Faust looking for his affection. 

He remembers now, you drew like this before the plague but he had searched for that sketchbook and never found it after you were gone. He knew you had taken it with you to the Lazaret and it had burned with you.

This is a different book, in a different life almost but your careful sketch is just the same.

Asra is almost in disbelief as he flicks through the book, there are sketches of Faust snuggled up to the crook of his neck, Selasi the baker and Asra with armfuls of Pumpkin bread, Asra walking the streets of Vesuvia, there are more sketches of him than he can count.

He can’t believe he never noticed you drawing, but truth be told he never expected to see your drawings again. He thought your abilities with a pencil and paper were forgotten with your memories.

He should have known better…

As Asra reaches the last page he shakes his head in disbelief at the soft sketch of his sleeping form, perfectly drawn by your hand. Just as he remembers the pages in your old book looked like.

That in itself gives him hope that maybe your memories aren’t as lost as he thought.

 Nadia

Nadia has noticed that you’ve been very engrossed in that little notebook of late, spending the late nights and early mornings scribbling on the pages.

Although Nadia doesn’t make a habit of prying into other people’s (even yours) business, she is starting to wonder what’s so important about that book.

And why you keep glancing at her as you write in it.

Oh, how she tries to resist but its just sitting on the bed and she plucks it up and flicks to the latest page.

Her gaze stares back at her, why it’s a drawing of her!

Nadia is intrigued, she recognises this particular moment from earlier in the day when the council meeting had run late.

In this book Nadia has the same aspirated expression as she stares at her tea rather than drawing her attention to the talks.

She flicks backward through the book and there they are, more sketches of her face, serene and placid.

She’s impressed, dare she say it they are better than many of her portraits. Nothing is left to the imagination, they’re just her as you see her.

Scratching Chandra feathers with a soft smile on her face, tools in her hands and oil and grease on her fingers as she makes a little invention, hair drawn back and laughing as she gallops on her horse.

Clear cut and real, smoothing her fingers against the page Nadia mulls over an image of her with wet hair with just her robe on.

How you manage to catch these moments and put them down on paper like this she’s always wonder but she’ll let you know how flattered she is that you enjoy drawing her so.

 Julian

Another late night at the desk it seems, Julian’s had a few of late but even he is starting to feel the hours catch up to him.

Retiring to bed where you are already softly snoring, Julian takes immediate notice to your little book you’re always carrying around lying in his space.

Usually he would just move it and go to bed, but as he draws close, he notices a face drawn on the page.

Scooping it up Julian almost thinks his eye is deceiving him in the darkness and sleepless haze, is that a drawing of him?

Slipping into bed with the book in hand Julian takes of his eye-patch to get a better look, it is him! Leaning over his desk with a concentrated gaze over the papers in his hands.

He can’t help but give a sly smile to your sleeping form, so this was what you got up to when he wasn’t looking.

He thought he was an alright artist, but you? Wow, he’s speechless over how much care has been taken to get the curve of his nose and the curl of his hair just right.

So as not to wake you Julian takes quiet care as he leaf’s through the pages, most of them have drawings of him and he marvels over them all.

There’s a drawing of Malak preening Julian’s hair (his comical wince obvious), hugging his little sister as if his life depended on it, holding up a pint of salty bitters with that roguishly silly smirk he does.

If he didn’t know any better than he’d think you like him!

Next time he’ll definitely make sure to pose!

But for now, he’ll settle on returning the secret favour by getting his own book and drawing you whenever he can.

Who knows? Maybe you’ll be able to give him some pointers.

Muriel

It’s a lazy morning for Muriel, a rare treat? He’s still getting used to sharing the chores and not having to do as much as he used to.

You’ve gone to work the shop leaving him and Inanna alone for the day, but before he can even begin to guess what to do Inanna plops a familiar looking book next to him.

Your notebook, he’s seen you writing in it all the time and you never go anywhere with out it, he wouldn’t admit it but right now it’s the only excuse he has to go see you.

Picking it up and calling for Inanna to follow the two make their way to Vesuvia, book in hand.

Whatever is in it seems important…

Muriel can’t ever remember looking inside it though, he’s not usually that curious but before he’s even thinking about it, he opens it as he’s walking and halts in his tracks.

There’s a carefully crafted drawing of him, sitting by the fire as Inanna lays at his side whilst he whittles away at a little figurine.

He snaps the book shut a red blush racing against his cheeks, whatever he’s feeling it’s new and he doesn’t know if he’s embarrassed or happy that you’ve drawn him.

Now curiosity has completely taken over and he hesitantly flicks to the first page, that one is Asra but as he progresses, he sees Inanna, the hut, your favourite tree, and that doe with her fawn.

His cheeks get redder every time he crosses a drawing of himself, most have tense gazes but between them he sees in each face his soft smiles and almost unnatural gentleness in his eyes.

Is that how you see him? Soft? Gentle? He’s never seen himself that way before, but the drawings don’t feel fake, they’re almost too real.

He sees his hand buried in Inanna’s fur as he cradles an ill chicken, weaving his braids in the morning, standing bare chested in the evening as he cooks dinner. Scars mirrored in the pencil work.

He takes your sketch book to you with a knowing smile.

 Portia

One of the few day’s she gets off from working the palace and she can’t spend it with you.

Apparently the shop has been so busy you’ve had a que going out the door. Portia is disappointed but in times like this it can’t be helped so she decides to indulge in some light reading.

Browsing her small shelves Portia almost doesn’t notice the small book with bits of paper sticking out of it.

But she notices it there, it reminds her of the journal’s Julian kept on medical procedures and stuff, maybe he accidentally left it here or she picked it up from his?

But there on the spine are your initials, plucking it from the shelf Portia turns to a random page and…

There she is on the paper, a drawing! She’s sitting with a blanket on her lap and a needle and thread in her hand as she works at the patchwork quilt she’s been making.

Ooh, she’s never seen such a pretty drawing of her and its not long before she’s jumped on her bed and is flicking through the book.

She’s awing over the drawings and they’re almost too amazing for her to believe. 

There are so many; sitting on the beach, dancing with Pepi in her arms, munching on that delicious cupcake from last week! Oh, she misses that cupcake.

She’s squealing in excitement over the drawings, she has such a talented and cute partner. 

Lucio

Lucio’s been without you for all but an hour and he’s already bored, how did he ever entertain himself without you?

He’s never been a willing reader but soon enough he finds himself browsing the shelves out of pure boredom.

Then he spots it, small leather-bound book with one of Camio’s gorgeous feathers peeking out from the top. How did that get there when Camio has the same aversion to books Lucio does?

Disinterested Lucio plucks it from the shelf and turns to the page where Camio’s feather sits and wow…

There’s a wonderful drawing of Camio sitting proudly on the back of a chair as Lucio pets the bird. Sure, it’s only pencil but its better than the painting he had done of the bird.

And there’s more, as he flicks the page, he finds himself. Standing bare-chested with the dogs and giving them a fuss, he remembers that. Last week if he’s right.

As he flicks through the rest of the carefully crafted sketch book Lucio can only guess this is your work, how busy you’ve been drawing him...

He is absolutely flattered; you draw him much better than the portrait artists (maybe because it actually looks like him).

There he is applying his makeup, chasing the dogs after they stole his prosthetic, Camio sitting on his head with proudly puffed up feathers.

He’s enthralled that you draw him so well, maybe he’ll commission you to do some portraits but for now he’ll enjoy the ones in the book.

Maybe he’ll do a cheeky pose for you when you’re back!

He is always looking for an excuse to makeout with you so simple kisses always run the risk of turning into something more

once you're in their sight they don't let you out, making sure you're safe

oh don't be fooled though, once you're sober and deeply regretting getting as drunk as you did they're teasing you as much as possible

will continue to take care of you in the morning, making sure you don't just brush off the headache you'll likely have

Faust probably stole from your drink, deciding it was gross before making you her permanent squeeze victim of the night

you're most likely getting drunk together so it's inevitable that he's partly watching over you

if you're not drunk together he feels very out of place, but tends to you better than you thought he would

but if you ask him to watch over you beforehand he's probably going to be more prepared that way

probably ends up with either him wrapped around you or you wrapped around him in bed, no other way.

she's so good at taking care of you, it's unreal

she'll keep an eye on you the entire night, letting you have fun but not hurt yourself

when you wake up she's probably already had to take care of something, she is countess after all. But you'll find a glass of water and some medicine waiting for you on the bedside table

once she gets back to check on you she'll set aside some time for you, even massaging your scalp to help the headache if it's still present

he probably won't be with you at any sort of party unless you convince him beforehand, but once you're home he's gonna help the best he can

inanna is snuggled up to you the entire night and the next morning, it's very pleasant to wake up to

with inanna and muriel you'll be very snuggled so you won't have to worry about that-

she's giggling at your antics the whole time, slightly encouraging you at times

in all seriousness he's not the best but not the worst either

When they tell him he tears up and tells you that they'll always be by your side no matter what

They have been with MC through so many changes that always make their relationship stronger

He does everything in his power to support them

They're very eager to do whatever makes them more comfortable

They do a spell to make them grow a beard but it ends up being super long like a wizard beard and they both have a huge giggle fit

MC often finds them admiring their body on their gender euphoric days, he can't get his mind off how much they're glowing when they're being their truest self

On bad dysphoria days, they bring them tea and a space to vent about their dysphoria and they're a very good listener and an even better comforter(? a person who is good at comforting others, not the blanket XD)

They call them handsome so he can see them get flustered

When they tell her, she lets out a sigh of relief and gives them a soft smile

"Oh dear, that's all you had to tell me? I thought it was something bad!"

Navigating a new gender is very hard and she'll be behind them every step of the way whether it's trying new hair/clothing styles

When they tell him he gets very excited for them

He gives them an all access pass to his wardrobe (as if they didn't have all access before)

He's very easy going and supportive about it

He's a really good listener so they can rant to him about dysphoria and he's there listening intently

He crafts them wooden packers

When they're having a good gender euphoric day you can see him watching them with a small smile on his face

Self insert here but doing manual labor and woking with my hands makes me very gender euphoric so he would let him help with that

He remembers the date of every big mile stones for them and will celebrate them with MC

He even has a calendar written with all the dates

When they tell her she gets so happy she's like "Awe MC!" and gives them the biggest hug and kiss

If they're ever having dysphoria she's very comforting to be around but she'd also be like "You're literally the hottest guy around"

She's so good at communicating what might trigger their dysphoria and she will make them as comfortable as possible around her

She loves them so much and loves watching them grow into their skin more and more her heart flutters when she sees them

Ok but Portia being a short queen can help make MC's with height dysphoria euphoric when they're taller than her

When MC told him that they were trans he was first surprised but then pulls MC into his arms

He tells MC that he loves them no matter what and there is two handsome men in town now

He'll try and show off to them by giving them lavish gifts like stinky colognes and reflective suit jackets

Will brag to other people about his hot boyfriend

When they're feeling gender euphoric the two step out as this radiant power couple, oozing with confidence

Lucio would also get like weirdly competitive on who can be the better boyfriend

They are often racing to see how can hold the door open for the other, who gives their jacket when it's cold out, etc

Hey, so something I completely loved in Portia’s route was that in the upright ending, you get on a ship and you’re sailing away and you can be like “Lets get married! lets do it today.” and it was so cute and sweet. 

I had throw backs to when you marry Nadia in her route where it was also so soft and sweet, but then I noticed something. You only marry Nadia and Portia. You don’t get to marry any of the male love interests or Asra. Which, I think for Asra its pretty on par - like very free spirited, probably doesn’t see the constitution of marriage all that important. 

But ok, you cannot convince me that Julian would not have proposed to you on your week anniversary in the most elaborate way possible, or that Muriel wouldn’t get some comfort in the ritual or that Lucio would do it just for the kick or for the party. Its just so strange that at the end of any of the male love interests routes you don’t progress further.

But hey, Portia’s route was adorable and I loved how we got married on a ship.

Warning: Muriel's headcanon contains spoilers for his route! Mostly are used hairstyles for long hair! Still, pronouns used are they/them, so you can always switch them to she/her or any other you like. In Julian part there's miss/mister/mix so you can choose one, or choose none, what suits you! <3

For the last few days Asra had been coming home more tired than ever. Your shop was becoming more and more popular, so people made requests for them to- "help you need to heal my nephew!" Or "come help me with bad magic surrounding my house!" Today he was doing the second one. So because you knew he's going to come home all tired and propably sad. You've made the decision! You are going to lighten up his day, doing something funny. But what? This idea came to you like a truck. You're going to make a pretty hairstale for you, and than matching one for him! You knew they love domestic thing like that. The plan was almost perfect! Yeah almost. You forgot you're mot a hairstylist, so it came out rather... extraordinary. But well, you didn't have much time because then-

"Mc I'm hoooo-what is that?" I mean your plan DID work, they were laughing. Obviously.

"I uhh" it was hard for you to say anything 'cause you yourself was trying to hold back a giggle "You were having tough work recently, so i decided tomake you feel better. Did it work?"

"Yeah, pretty much. You're an angel you know that?" He came closed pulling you in a hug. Faust slipped out of his sleeve and squeezed you, like she always does. Maybe this plan wasn't perfect, but it doesen't matter, as long Asra's happy, you are too. (Even if it means trying to put your hair back to normal for the next hour)

Being a countness is not easy. Well, it never was. But ever since Lucio stopped being a count all the work fel right on Nadia. You felt that too. Her headaches were getting worse, but at the same time she didn't have time to properly heal it. When you were waiting for her in your shared room, idea came to you. What if you would try to make her laugh this one time? You're going to connect two things she loves most- your hair, and you. Your plan was to make some cute hairstyle and watch her laugh. You spend on making a tower with your hair like an hour, but then she didn't come when she was supposed to. Your tower halfly fell, which was devastating to you. When another half an hour passed you deiced to look for her in the palace. You came out of your room (still with the tower on your head) and run through corridors until you heard her voice. You ran throught the corner and there she i- oops. It wasn't only Nadia. Two old, rich looking men were there with her. When you ran into them Nadia stopped talking. And then she bursted out laughing.

"Love, what is... that?" She asked trying to calm herself down.

"Well I- I" that was so embarrassing. Two from you, to Countness, trying not to giggle as well. "You were so tired lately, I wanted to make you smile, but then you didn't came when you were supposed to! And my love tower fell..." an that Nadia stopped laughing and looked at you. You would swear that you've seen the hearts appearing in her eyes.

"Darling, that's adorable. What did I do to deserve such a sweet partner?" She pet your 'love tower' stil giggling a little bit.

"That was smooth you know? Thank you for caring for me so much, it means a lot" she kissed your temple. "What do you thing about a bath, i'm sure your 'love tower' would gladly use one." she smiled.

Rest of the night you spend on trying to wash your hair and get it out of the tower. But it was worth it.

When Julian started working as a doctor again, and opened his own clinic, he slept even less than he did before that, and there you were thinking it was impossible. So because he slept so not much, he was tired. And because he was tired you were sad. When you were sitting alone in yoru shared home again an idea came to your head. You'll suprise Julian with a home spa! You're going to make mud masks for both of you, lay in bath and style each others hair all evening! The only problem is that well... you didn't have much time for all of those cause Julian came home earlier than you expected. He yeled that he's home when you were geting bath for both of you ready. You panicked. It was supposed to be a suprise, you needed to stall. You ran out of the bathroom grabbing a brush on your way out.

"Oh hi darling, I came earlier today i had a little bit looser schedule how are you?"he came to you hugging you softly.

"Well I- I have a one very good plan!" You yelled getting the brush and showing it to Julian.

"Oh, what is it?" He raised one eyebrow

"We're going to be hairstylist for today! What do you think?" He looked suprised, but rather well suprised.

"I don't see why not-"

"Excelent then! You first!" You sat on yoir bed patting the spot behind you for him to sit there.

"So what would you like to have today as a hairstyle miss/mister/mix?" He asked already in his role.

"I'm going to leave it to you, suprise me!"you laughed. Later you'll find that that this was a MISTAKE. Julian was indeed feeling creative today because before he gave you a mirror he said that he 'needed Malak for proper exhibistion'. And there you were, with a nest on your head, and a raven sitting right in it.

"Julian what-" Your conversation went somewhat like this, then you ended up runing after him for the next fifteen minutes but then you realised something. "Julian oh no! I let the facuet running!"

After heart of the forest was gone, it became more dangerous so Muriel had to take care of it and protect it. It was indeed a hard work, and seeing your love so tired everyday made you tired too. One day he left withoit Innana saying that "it was too dangerous today to take her with him" so he left both of you in the hut. You layed on the floor with Innanna biting your hair and playing with it. She was the one who gave you an idea about what you'te going to do to lighten up Muriel day a little. You took out your hairpins and scrunchies and you got to work right away. Your idea was to make matching hairstyles for you and Innanna. It was a little bit hard because both of your 'hair' were pretty short. So you sticked some pins here and there, some bows, and... it's perfect! Muriel's going to melt when he comes home! You both didn't have to wait long. When he stepped in to the hut you ran to him and hugged him with Inanna brushing both of your legs. When you pulled away Muriel had time to take a better look at both of you.

"What is that" he stuttered. Inanna happily barked.

"Don't you think it's adorable? We're matching!" You picked your wolf partner in crime and kissed her nose.

"Did you- did you agree?" he asked his familiar. She howled, and that was propably a 'yes' because he looked quite relaxed.

"And lucky for you i have some spared bows." You smiled mischeviously. Muriel then realised that it's too late to run.

It's quite obvoius that if the Countness has more work, Portia does too. So when he came home today, very tired again you decided that you need to do something! While walking around the cottage, with Portia laying in the living room on a couch, not registering what is happening around her, you picked up an idea. You saw so many pins and cat hair laying around the house that an idea striked you. You're gong to make hair art on Portia's head. A beautifull sculpture of... Pepi! When you came up to her again, this time with a cat in your arms she was asleep. You know that Portia's not a light sleeper so you knew, that it's not going to be hard for you. You got to work right away and after some time, it was done. You still don't know how she didn't wake up, you understand that she's a heavy sleeper, but this heavy? Then you started doubting. And... oh no. What if she's dead? What if she passed out because of all the stress and lack of sleep? You needed to wake her up to see whether you're delusional, or you just made a cat hairstyle on a dead body of your girlfriend. You took pepi's cat butt and started tickling Portia's nose with her tail. It worked, she started waking up. What a relieve. You didn't kill her after all.

"Hi Pepi" she munbled hugging her cat closer. "Hi Mc" she said to you and picked herself up from the couch. Then you realised something. Portia was sleeping on her stomach and you were doing her hairstyle on... "Mc? What is a Pepi sculpture doing on the back of my head?" It's time to run.

Lucio birthday was getting closer, and with that, the masquerade. So for around a month everyone in the palace was running around, getting everything ready for the big event. You noticed that even streets were busier than usual lately, and with tha all of your friends. Asra was helping Nadia with planning, Julian was making himself an outfit for the big occasion bacuse he made a bet with Portia, Muriel, to your suprise, was carving himself a masquerade mask, Nadia- obviously was the head of the whole organization, and Portia was helf right hand so they both and way too much work. And Lucio- well he wasn't as busy and Nadia, but it was still HIS day, so he wanted everything to be perfect as well. That way it suprised you that he syopped talking so much, and didn't do his eyeliner so often. For others it's just small things, but for you? You knew right away something was wrong, and you didn't like it. At all. You needed to find a way to relax him, and because he is well... horny most of the time, you decided that you'll going to make yourself a ~sexy hairstyle~. Making a hairstyle look easy, doesen't it? Well... IT IS NOT. You spend an hour trying to recreate a hairstyle of some man you've seen on the streets of Vesuvia, but it came out rather... awful. Not only did it look like shit, but also put you through so much pain, that you're sitting in the corner of Lucio's room, angry cursing everything and everyone. Then, Lucio came in. Seeing you curled in a corner, angry look on your face and in some weirdass hairstyle, he broke down in laughter.

"Why are you laughing? Can't you see I'm angry Lucio?" You yelled at him getting up and crossing your arms. He came up to you and calming down he kissed your colarbones and pulled you into his embrace.

"I'm sorry love, I'm not going to anymore" and then, Mercedes and Malchior came, to them you looked weird, and foreign, so they started barking... and Lucio started laughing again. Maybe that wasn't exactly the plan, but he looks relaxed at least. So for you? It's fine.

I've been trying to get through all the routes in The Arcana again (bc a couple years ago I tried to do the same thing, and got through none of them lmao) and I started with Julian, naturally. I honestly forgot how much I love this son of a bitch. Like, I love him but I just wanna punch in the face sometimes yknow. Anyway, what route should I start after his (or possibly during his, I'm still not sure if I want to kind of do all of them at the same time or one at a time)? I'm really thinking about starting Nadia's next but idk
