Date nights with kita shinsuke are pretty chill. Usually you both are exhausted from the week and just decide to relax with each other. Oil massages, aromatherapy, and a nice, long soak in the warm water with your favourite bath bomb. Your legs intertwine with his as you bond skin to skin. Post bath, Kita princess-carries you — oh, he's a strong man — to the desk, where lay your elaborate set of skincare utilities. Kita absolutely adores the way you slap the mask on his face, rambling about all the damage the long hours under the sun does to his skin. He loves the way your eyes twinkle, reflecting the twenty or so candles he lit around the dark room since you love aesthetics so much.

His lips set into a smirk as you apply moisturizer to his torso and always get distracted by his strong muscles. He loves the part where you hand him the moisturizer and let him massage it into your skin even more. The best part of the date though, is when it's all over and you both are on the bed, your head on his chest and his arms around you. And you just bask in the presence of each other. It is nice, Kita thinks to himself. It is so, so, so nice he could do this forever. The love and adoration overcome him as he kisses your forehead and slips into the best slumber he's had that week.

Osamu loves date nights. It's his time to experiment with his favourite recipes and have a taster at the ready. He always has cutesy little onigiris and soft mochis with pink eyes and tongues ready for date nights. And you are also expected to cook something for him. You could be a Michelin star chef, or a hazard to the kitchen, or anything in between, best believe that man is getting you into the kitchen with him. The night is filled with bickering and laughter, as you both discuss ingredient proportions and the best flavours. It always ends up with silly accidents and one of you covered in flour.

Once the cuisine is ready, it's served on the previously prepared candle lit table for two on the balcony. The balcony itself is decorated elaborately with a little something from both, you and Osamu. Over dinner, sometimes you both pretend to be aristocrats, smelling and tasting the wine, using forks and knives. Other times, you both gossip, brutally tearing on anything and everything you can debate on. And most of the times, it's just staring cheesily into each other's eyes and smiling like dorks, cuz wtf, you both are so in love with each other. It's bliss, drinking in each other's features in the romantic setting and carving the memory deep into your heart.

Date nights with Atsumu are crazy. Atsumu is a very spontaneous man, and he knows how to have fun. One thing you absolutely learned from dating atsumu is that dressing comfy was the go-to with him. He could be asking you out for a movie and then halfway change his mind and take you to the amusement park, just because it looked so pretty from afar. Sometimes when you are tired, he would settle for board games, and if you're not in the mood, then a vent session for you both. And the vent sessions are so awesome. Because, however unhinged the vent could be, the responsibility of the other person is to hype the vent. So, a typical vent session would go—

"I couldn't believe that prof's audacity! I literally turned in the paper at the last second— like rh timestamp was literally there and he had the fucking audacity to say I submitted it late. That bitch!"

"YEAH!! That bitch!!! How dare he do that to youuu!!! :((("

"I KNOW RIGHT??? I hope his house burns down!"

"That's right, we're gonna burn his house down!!!"

"Yeah, but save his dog. It's a cutie."

"YAYYY, SAVE DA DAWG AND BURN DA BITCH!!!!"

Eventually, one of you would break into giggles, and soon enough, both of you would be clutching your stomachs, laughing at how absurd it all was. By the time you made it to bed, you'd be so worn out that sleep would come instantly, comforted by the sound of each other's gentle breathing. No matter how you drifted off, he would end up spooning you, his fingers softly entwined with yours.

things i adored of the catalan version of jesus christ superstar

so i just saw the catalan version of after discovering there is one (it's here, check it out!) and i think it was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. shoutout to @this-is-a-name-dont-worry for making me discover it <3

catalan is my favourite language and i am lucky enough to speak it every day, and this production didn't disappoint at all!

so as a tradition in this blog, let's review my favorite parts!

first of all, i adored the setting and the cast. the costumes were also fabulous. so the whole aesthetic of the show was impeccable, giving me the same vibes as the 2018 nbc version. 10/10 for scene.

now, specific things. many of these things have to do with lyrics because i think the translation was EVERYTHING.

heaven on their minds is always a banger, no matter the production. one thing i loved about this particular version was the lyric obri els ulls i escolta el que t'he de dir / que no veus que no vull veure't morir?, which literally translates to open your eyes and listen to what i have to say / can't you see that i don't want to see you die? (more or less).

that translation changed my life forever.

the percussion break right before what's the buzz? gave me +20 years of life.

then, judas's expression during mary's bit was so funny.

and also, some note changes during strange thing mystifying that i LOVED.

i also think it was clever how judas was arguing with the apostles in the background during the first chorus of everything's alright.

moreover, the way mary soothes judas in the second chorus

AND HOW THEY CHANGE THE LYRICS SO THEY CAN MAKE IT PLURAL (like mary talks to both jesus and judas).

ANNAS IS A GIRL !!!!! and an amazing performer, gotta say.

also, the little dancing of the priests during this jesus must die.

i adored how in hosanna, jesus and judas enter together and then mary joins them (and judas gives her a little kiss!!).

also judas telling the crowd to be chill while caiaphas sings.

and how he gets mad when jesus talks about heaven.

SIMON IS A GIRL !!!! and also SPECTACULAR.

the way pilate and jesus look at each other just before pilate's dream.

the priests being in the temple during the scene.

mary confessing to jesus during i don't know how to love him and jesus ALMOST KISSING HER???? WOAH.

a priest offered judas some food while he was having a mental breakdown in damned for all time and i thought it was the funniest thing ever.

okay so during the last supper happened a lot of things

first, JUDAS SMOKING. i'm always a fan of that (please, don't smoke).

also, during their first confrontation, judas says deixa'm que t'expliqui (let me explain) to jesus, and I WANTED TO CRY

the way the apostles tidy up the table after jesus and judas's first fight.

at the end, judas looks for comfort in the apostles AND THEY REJECT HIM???? the audacity.

gethsemane was in general absolutely stunning, but some things i liked about it is the way it was translated. the song in catalan seems like jesus is asking god to show himself so that he can see that everything is real. HEART B R E A K I N G.

ANOTHER HEARTBREAK. the lyrics just before the song starts say ningú es vol quedar despert amb mi? / no em deixeu sol avui, which translates to none of you wants to stay awake with me? / don't leave me alone today. I MEAN.

some other lyrics that destroyed me were the pre-chorus. in catalan, jesus sings: vas donar-me llum / però ara sols veig fum / esperant que tú vinguessis / vaig donar-te el que tenia / una vida / no pots esperar més d'un home sol, which translates to you gave me light / but now i only see smoke / waiting for you to come / i gave you what i had / a life / you cannot expect more from only a man. I MEAN X2.

peter's voice was one of my favorites.

and also, herod serving cunt in that animal print trousers. chef's kiss.

judas's death affected me more than any other production

in superstar, judas singing de debò el teu sacrifici et converteix en salvador? which translates to does your sacrifice really makes you a savior? in the cuntiest way possible. yes, king.

and to finish, the timer above the cross going down before jesus's death.

One thing I absolutely love about Polite Society is how the fight choreography, score, sound design, cinematography, and more serve both the protagonist and the progression of the plot. All of these elements are the film aren't just cool aesthetic choices. They're reflective of how Ria processes her entire life through the lens of an action movie. It's her life that has smash cuts, slow-mo during her sickest moves, and dramatic close-ups. The score we hear is her own internal soundtrack--I loooooove the scene where the score ramps up with so much tension when Ria learns that Lena and Salim are engaged, only for the music to drop completely as we get the other characters' view of this extra-ass girl's reaction to this news. This movie is Ria's world.

And because Ria is imaginative, obsessive, and dramatic, we don't know how reliable of a narrator she is. I have no idea how much of any given fight in the movie actually happens. Does Kovacs really grab her leg in midair and swing her into the trophy case? Does Lena really smash her face repeatedly into the glass of a framed picture? Do the other wedding guests really become an army of henchpeople for Ria and her allies to take out? Not a clue.

This means that, when Ria suspects that Salim is up to no good and vows to stop him at all costs, it's easy to assume that it's not really true. This could've been a story about a teenage girl with an overactive imagination wanting to "save" her older sister from marriage because she's afraid of losing her. It could've been a story about a teenage girl with big improbable goals refusing to accept that her older sister is getting married, because if Lena "gives up" her dream of being an artist, what does that say about Ria's dream of becoming a stuntwoman? And to be sure, those themes are definitely in the film. But it could've easily been a story where Ria needs to learn that she's created an imaginary threat that she can kick around and beat up because she's scared to face the more grounded reality of the emotions she's experiencing.

The stylistic choices in the film already get us halfway there. We're primed to sympathize with Ria and root for her, but not necessarily to accept her views as objective reality. We see how she magnifies things, cinematizes them, injects everything around her with drama and heightened stakes. And so, speaking for me personally, it's such a trip to realize that Raheela and Salim do have an evil plan, that Ria's distrust in them and over-the-top meddling/snooping pay off. Furthermore, once Ria learns the truth (along with the audience,) her wildly imaginative nature makes it harder for others to believe her and easier for Raheela to undermine her. Of course Ria is just getting carried away again, of course Salim doesn't have a secret lab where he's performing reproductive experiments on potential brides, of course Raheela didn't threaten Ria while she was having her legs waxed. Silly girl!

It's just so masterful, the way almost every element in the film works together--first to let us inside Ria's head and show us who she is, then to misdirect from the twist, and finally to back Ria into a corner as people refuse to believe her. Absolutely chef's kiss!

It's a bummer that we had to wait so long to get season 2 of We Are Lady Parts, but without the long hiatus, I'm not sure we would've gotten Polite Society, so I can live with it.

@whitedarkmoonflower also creates beautiful things! Not only are the gifs beautiful but the way she can write beautiful softness and also heart pounding smut? 🫠

@targaryen-dynasty it has been my absolute pleasure to read some of her things. I think she does a beautiful job at creating a real sense of urgency and importance when needed and I think that should be spoken of more.

@alexagirlie does beautiful pairings with the men, and I think that's something that should be highlighted more! It never feels like a slip into doing it for the sake of doing it, but instead feeling like fully exploring dynamics that are present but never spoken of. Also her art? Chefs kiss.

@thenameswinter99 also deserves some recognition. The first and only thing I've read from her had me actually crying from its beauty. I think she is one of those people who can change your life with her writing and that's a beautiful talent.

8. Common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about.

GENESIS BEING INCLUDED IN THE NIBELHEIM INCIDENT. People treat this like some unholy retcon, the greatest narrative sin Square Enix could've committed via the Compilation. And I for one think that's a complete over-reaction.

Seriously. Sure, Sephiroth's definitely not in a good mental headspace by now, but having Genesis water the freshly planted seeds in Seph's mind in the reactor only serves to drive him further down in a really believable way. I always found it a little odd how quickly Seph seemed to spiral in the OG (admittedly Rebirth handled it better), so I think the addition of Genesis makes the scene more fleshed out and raises even more questions for Sephiroth to investigate in the manor.

And a fun one for good measure that's been disproven by Nomura himself - the fact that everyone is like 'hurr durr Genesis can't come back cause Gackt says no / Square won't pay for his likeness'. Admittedly less people are using this as a 'ew no Genesis is icky he can't come back' now, but it was SUPER annoying for like a decade up till this point.

12. The unpopular character that you actually like and why more people should like them.

Feel like I should be putting my clown makeup on at this point because yep, my answer's Genesis! Again! XD Between the rest of the awesome peeps / moots on Tumblr who've argued for why Gen actually is or has the potential to be really interesting, I think it's fairly obvious why, but I'll summarise my view.

Basically, Genesis suffered from poor writing. Between that and the intense LOVELESS quoting making up the majority of his dialogue, I can see why it frustrated people. But if you look beyond that you'll discover some really neat stuff:

Having Genesis (and by extension, Angeal) as prototypes to Sephiroth actually makes boatloads of sense scientifically. You can't expect ShinRa to pop out Sephiroth on the first try, can you?

Genesis can basically go toe-to-toe with Sephiroth for an extended period of time, which is just... insane, when you think about it. Cloud and Zack have both reached similar heights but Sephiroth is just on a whole other level, so the fact there are a select few who can last against him is just really neat.

Bro had his world shattered and understandably lashed out at the company that shaped and controlled his entire existence. We're on Zack's side for Crisis Core, but it's pretty clear the real world-destroyers are ShinRa, and I think Crisis Core could've done a better job at helping us see Gen's perspective a bit more.

His aesthetic is just gorgeous, let's be honest here. That red coat is iconic and I want it. Superb character design (bless you Gackt for choosing red over black or white.)

Canonically he was well-liked and respected by the majority of SOLDIER, given that he convinced so many SOLDIERs to leave with him. People don't just follow you to the ends of the earth willy-nilly. Also, despite being an 'introvert' and averse to large people groups, he displayed kindness and gentleness with his younger comrades. Gillian called him 'such a good boy' for a reason, damn it!

...and I probably have more, but my hands are tired. XD

17. There should be more of this type of fic/art.

Honestly, I'm a sucker for hurt/injured/degrading Genesis and him both going through trauma and then being comforted and cared for by his loved ones. It's a major part of why I started Thing With Feathers after all. XD

I also love seeing how people explore Genesis' relationship with his changing body/his wing. I could read stuff about that for days.

Also would love to see more written redemption arcs for Genesis, whether it's through 'what-if' AUs or post DoC.

Lastly, I'm not hugely into overly sexual stuff, so any of the above fics without anything explicit is just *chef's kiss*. Of course I understand that many folks love the spicy stuff on its own or mixed into a plot, and that's okay! Just not my cup of tea is all.

Roundtable I: The Little Mermaid (1989)

In what ways does the film’s score situate the story with its narrative context?

The Little Mermaid (1989) utilizes its score to immerse viewers in the enchanting and fantastic underwater world of Atlantica while also underscoring key emotional beats and developments. In “Part of Your World”, bright, shimmery strings and uplifting major chords accompany Ariel’s longing exploration of all things human. This evokes a sense of wonder and possibility for somewhere beyond her underwater world. Additionally, whimsical woodwinds and bouncy brass instruments enliven the vibrant world of Atlantica, particularly in numbers like “Under the Sea”, immersing viewers in the magical realm.

How do songs use character performance to push cultural authenticity in the film’s diegesis?

The Little Mermaid (1989) has a weak cultural identity as it is not based in a real culture or experience. The source material that the film is very loosely based on, The Little Mermaid by Hans Christian Andersen, is theorized to take place near Denmark and that influence is not present in the film. Prince Eric’s Kingdom is vaguely Mediterranean and lacks any distinct traits outside of white and coastal. There is the inclusion of a French-styled musical number in the form of Les Poissons but its inclusion has little to do with the world of the story and more with the stereotype of the neurotic French chef.

In The Little Mermaid (1989), while songs like “Under the Sea” and “Kiss the Girl” incorporate elements of Calypso music, a common music style across the Caribbean, with the inclusion of steel drums, call and response, and syncopated rhythms, the film does not distinctly portray Caribbean culture or locations. Instead, it focuses on creating a general oceanic, island feel for its aquatic settings. This approach overlooks the cultural heritage and origins of Calypso music, attributing the style to a generic “island” vibe rather than specifically acknowledging its Caribbean roots.

The film may have chosen to avoid specific cultural references in order to create a fantastical, universal story to appeal to the masses as Disney usually does. However, this approach leads to usage of Caribbean music and culture as an aesthetic rather than a genuine cultural representation.

Additionally, while Sebastien the Crab is voiced with a Jamaican accent, he is portrayed by an African-American actor, making it more of a character choice than a cultural one. This reinforces the film's lack of authentic use of Caribbean music culture.

In what ways does the film use musical “framing” to structure the score within familiarized styles?

In “Under the Sea”, Calypso elements and the familiarized classical Broadway/Disney style intertwine, serving as an example of musical “framing”. The song’s lively instrumentation, including steel drums and percussion, along with  syncopated rhythms and call-and-response vocals, show the incorporation of Calypso elements into the film’s score. However, “Under the Sea” uses familiar Western elements to make the less common Calypso style more familiar to wider audiences. The elements are blended in a pretty harmonious way which leads to a fun and catchy song but the framing of the Calypso elements may diminish the authenticity of its influence by prioritizing accessibility to mainstream audiences. 

Moreover, “Under the Sea” also incorporates elements that are typical in Broadway and classical Disney musicals, made very obvious by the presence of Alan Menken on the soundtrack. Some of the elements are the upbeat tempo,whimsical lyrics, brass, woodwinds, and string. The arrangement of the piece also follows a structured and melodic format commonly seen in Broadway and Disney musical numbers, with distinct verses, choruses, and instrumental interludes.

The elements of Calypso music are mixed with elements of Menken’s formula to create a distinctly Disney piece of music. The inclusion of the Calypso style is little more than window dressing.

🌈 ― aesthetically pleasing blog @warsavant has AMAZING graphics on all of their blogs. i'm hella floored with every new one they churn out. the themes and ideas she uses to create her graphics are so creative. and the colouring is so perfect for the muse featured. i have a hard time making graphics for a multi so i was really impressed by kitty's graphic on @ofpolitics. they are gorgeous and they suit all the muses so well. but i want to make it clear that kitty's blogs are more than just beautiful graphics. she puts heart and soul into her muses and it shows.

⭐️ ― convincing portrayal of a canon character you @debelltio! i'm so damn impressed by all the detail you put into writing krennic. you really nail his brilliance, insecurities and his need to become something greater. you write him in his true terrifying glory and don't reduce him to a cartoon villain like i see in fanon. but it's more than that. you remind us that krennic is a human being underneath it all. he has fears, hopes and dreams. he is greedy and self serving but also very alone. your portrayal makes us sympathize with him but still hate him for the villain he is. it's simply *chefs kiss* nobody is doing it like you do!

💻 ― excellent writing @vaderari damn the way cole writes vader sends chills down my spine. i love the way they write his actions and use the setting to show how terrifying and powerful vader really is. they remind the reader how helpless and outmatched they are to this hulking creature of a man. it's really cool to see the expression of humanity and monstrosity in vader's character. that reminds you why he was the chosen one and why the jedi were terrified of his potential. kudos to you cole for writing a beast so eloquently, cus damn it can't be easy.

🥇 ― well-developed oc @renkniighted row is such a cool oc. i really love how mysterious he seems to an outsider. he's this shadowy loner who doesn't take anything seriously. but when you see him from the prospective of the knights and people close to him you see he is actually a very complicated person who cares a lot more than he lets on. he's pure embodiment of what i imagine a knight of ren to be. every time i get to learn more about him is a good day.

@thirdsght meer i remember when you first made rivk and damn has he grown as a muse. i love how he's this cold, apathetic warrior on the outside but he cares a lot about the knights and makes sacrifices for them like they are his family. the duality of his chiss behaviours and the behaviours he picked up from growing up at the jedi temple and with the knights is a really cool part of his character. that makes him interesting and complex because you don't really know which side of his brain will come out on top.

🏆 ― 10/10 blog, would recommend @alootus / @dulathian aila is perfection!! such a bundle of joy on the dash and a great writer! the way you write padme is *chef kiss*. you remind us all why so many people looked up to her and believed in her during tough times. aila has a beautiful way of giving her muses human qualities that remind us that they are people underneath everything. 10/10 plots and headcanons. she thinks outside of the box and show us parts of her muses that canon glosses over. her writing is so beautiful and the flower symbolism is stunning! you're an asses to the rpc aila! we're lucky to have you.

Empty manor

Astrea Celeste was busy with her least favorite work . She in fact hated the work of the house head with passion. "Even the paperwork I did as a magic knight was better." She said throwing her pen on the table

She checked the time, it was almost lunch time. She didn't want to leave her work but she remembered her promise to Nacht that she would look after herself. She left her room and walked down the stairs. "So empty." She thought.

She entered the dining room. The table was huge but she was alone. There were so many dishes but she was the only one to eat. After she finished her lunch, she called a maid.

"Clear my plate, and give rest of the food to the poor. Tell the kitchen head to not buy this much food for a single person, we don't have as much money as we used to." 

" Yes, my lady." The maid replied 

She returned to her office to continue her work. "I hate this place, I hate this work, I hate this mansion." She said out loud. "My squad headquarters are so much better. I wouldn't have even kept it if not for..." 

Just then a idea crossed her mind.

"Why didn't I think of it before?" she said and smiled "I should discuss it with Nacht tonight."

(Nighttime)

Nacht appeared in her room from the shadows like he always did. She immediately hugged him, she was waiting for him for hours.

"Hey, how was work?" He asked

"About that, I actually decided something." She replied smiling.

"What is it?" He asked knowing that she must have taken a huge decision.

"Nacht, I decided to give up my noble status and sell this mansion."

"What? But why?" He was shocked

"It's just too suffocating here and there are so many bitter memories."

"But then you won't be able to live the life you are living. It will be difficult."

"I know that but Nacht, this life is too hectic. It's too painful. I don't like this work. I don't like this mansion. I just want to keep a few income sources and leave." She said bursting into tears. Nacht wiped her tears and hugged her.

"I see." He said in an understanding voice as he rubbed her back.

"Ummm.. Nacht... I was also thinking that... maybe instead of keeping the manor, I'll buy a good house..." She said as started blushing

Nacht froze, he wasn't as dense as Yami, he knew exactly what this meant.

"Maybe..... for just the both of us, I know we have our squad headquarters but maybe we could go to that house during breaks." She continued. "I mean I kept this mansion because we can get our privacy. Don't get me wrong, I like your squad-."

Nacht kissed her forehead and she froze. "You don't have to explain, even I want to have some time for just the both of us." He said.

"I see, so if you aren't busy tomorrow shall we go look for a house? My break will be over soon and I want to be done with all the mansion and house head related work before that. "

"Sure" Nacht said and kissed her " I'd love that."

Oh~ We went from an xreader to an oc~! How fun!

Astrea Celeste... A very spatial name. Stars and nighttime is a classic combo so the aesthetic of Astrea and Nacht's name alone is attractive~!

The first scene scene gives a smaller snapshot of Astrea's feelings towards her position as a whole. She doesn't like the duties she has as head of house, but she doesn't neglect doing them. Her responsibilities do weigh on her but she has the diligence to see them through. I also get the feeling that Astrea is bothered by the hollow excess of her position, like being served far too much food at once.

It's also very nice that Astrea doesn't take her frustrations out on others (at least from what you've shared here). She's not all that warm in the one interaction she has with her staff but neither does she make harsh comments about the chef's over indulgence. She just makes it known what she wants done without fanfare.

The plainness of the earlier interaction then highlights her intimacy with Nacht. She goes to hug him and lets herself cry, unloading her negative feelings. However, Astrea doesn't mope too long and instead shows some fluster when suggesting that she and Nacht live together. She's emotive without being temperamental. I feel that Nacht would take a lover who is quieter than his squad and easy to be around. And so Astrea being able to voice her feelings without being over the top about works for Nacht.

Eh heh heh heh~! The forehead kiss... Nacht smooching his s/o's forehead is something that's so easy to picture and feels so right.

I can tell your grammar has improved with this new snippet. Like, letting the single sentence of Astrea's idea coming to mind being its own paragraph is a good show of how she has the idea and pauses because it feels like a strong revelation to her. I have an easy time reading the flow of your sentences, although I think some comma divided parts could be turned into full sentence stops like

And the only other bit that caught my attention was the use of "burst into tears." It comes off as a little strong, though maybe it's because I take the "burst" a little literally and picture someone letting out an audible sob. If you just meant that Astrea begins crying very suddenly, I think it still comes across.

Again, I like what you're sharing. It's got emotions and tenderness even without strictly being fluff. The drama isn't on the level of some canon events but it still gets me invested because sometimes the smaller, personal matters are more engaging since they laser focus on an individual. And seeing Nacht being able to support someone rather than need the support himself is nice.

Welcome to another episode of "I have decided to upgrade the Valicer farmhouse!" It's been a while since Victor, Alice, and Smiler's home got a refresh, and this particular one was prompted mainly by the following two facts:

A) Thanks to all their various side hustles (Victor selling the produce from his greenhouse and occasionally licensing songs, Alice writing books and selling paintings, and Smiler making SimsTube videos), plus the profits from their grocery store and Alice's brief career as an official Artist, the gang had LOADS of money to spend on new furniture and the like

B) My parents agreed as a birthday present to buy me 100 bucks worth of Sims 4 packs, and I spent a good chunk of that on them purchasing Horse Ranch and Home Chef Hustle, so I had some new Build/Buy items to play with!

So yeah -- figured it was time to upgrade some furniture and add some new fun stuff for the trio to use in their daily lives! Let's take it room by room:

Smiler’s Party Barn – This space was pretty much all about the furniture upgrades -- I updated the couch by the stairs to the most expensive and comfortable one (in of course the most wild swatch I could find – purplish-pink with zebra print details on the frame); changed out the chairs around the games table to more expensive and comfortable ones from that actually matched the puzzle table and were still just as colorful; and updated Smiler’s bar to a bigger one (it’s now a three-tiler, black with glowing yellow lights along the bottom -- aesthetic!) and got the most expensive and comfortable barstools to go along the front. Gotta make sure the guests are comfy! :D Even more importantly, though, I ended up changing around a bunch of the pictures and posters – the two sky prints the trio’s picked up from observatory visits are now behind the bar with a couple of space-themed posters; the DJ posters previously behind the bar are now above the ottomans on either side of the karaoke machine; a cute purple painting of a woman previously above the bar is now over the stairwell; and the big portraits of the Valicer wedding (Victor and Alice kissing and Victor and Smiler kissing) are now by the ping-pong table, in a collage with the two biggest pictures of the trio posing in their swimsuits on their honeymoon. :) But where did the other pictures of the wedding and honeymoon go? I’ll tell you shortly...

Cow Paddock – But first, let’s go outside and around to the back of the barn to Moory’s pen! Where, with the power of Horse Ranch, I added some patches of prairie grass and a proper water trough for our cow (moving the CC bucket fountain from "Cottage Garden Stuff" by @plumbobteasociety I was using to represent a source of water for Moory over to the corner of the pen for decoration purposes...though it occurs to me it might be nice to put in the chicken pen to pretend it’s now a drinking fountain and bath for the chickens). The water trough is probably just going to be for decoration (it’s intended for the horses that came with Horse Ranch and I’m not sure other animals can drink out of them), but the prairie grass actually serves a purpose – I know from seeing the option grayed out on the shed previously that you can refill a cow or llama’s feed with the stuff! So that’s cool. :) (And yes, I saw that option BEFORE I owned Horse Ranch, so, uh, great job Sims team.)

Living Room – I changed out the rug under the couch, coffee table, and TV stand for one of the new colorful Horse Ranch ones (doesn't it look cool?), and upgraded the couch and the two chairs in front of the fireplace into more expensive and comfortable models (though I made sure to keep the bright and wacky colors -- the Get Famous and Growing Together furniture have really good swatches in this regard, I'm pleased to report). Again, though, the big change was updating all the stuff on the walls -- mostly because I absolutely had to clean up all the photos around the house so I actually had room for NEW snaps. Plus I'd started looking at some of the photo collections and going “Do we really need this many pictures of you guys in front of your house at the family reunion?” XD I mean, I like them, but maybe some variety would be a good thing. And look a little less self-important. XD So what I did was remove the four-picture collage of the gang doing various poses in front of the house at the family reunion from one side of the TV, grabbed one medium-sized photo out of the set to keep, sold the rest (and the frame), and moved into its place the picture of everyone posing in front of the store that was upstairs by Smiler’s room previously. And THEN I moved the collage of photos of them on their honeymoon that was previously in the little notch next to the kitchen (which no longer exists as I made the kitchen bigger -- more on that later) over to the corner by the phonograph! So it’s right near the other big wedding collection. :) So THAT’S a little better!

Study – Mostly more picture rearranging in this room, though I did upgrade the chess set and chairs on the left wall to fancier versions – and discovered that the black and red chessboard also has black and red pieces, so I decided to go with that as a color theme. *shrug* If I can’t have white and red, I’ll go with black and red! Anyway, over the chess table, I stuck four of Victor and Alice's original Selvadoradan honeymoon snaps into one of the four-photo collage frame sets I unlocked, then arranged the remaining two photos on top of them in a way that made them look like part of the set (you can tell they're not because the frames aren't as thick, but still works). Then, over by Smiler's guitar, I got two more three-frame collage sets, put the photos from the trip to Granite Falls in those, and arranged them appropriately behind the rug, next to the window. The picture Alice painted of Smiler playing their guitar and the the one she painted of the Granite Falls ranger station sign then went up on the side wall next to the rug (because Victor has the picture Alice painted of him playing piano next to his piano, so I wanted Smiler's portrait to be next to THEIR instrument). After that, I moved the picture of Alice scratching herself that Victor did on the Valicer Honeymoon out of there and upstairs to the attic rec room (I couldn't bring myself to delete it, it amuses me too much XD), then moved the sketches and fancy light Alice unlocked from the Artist career over a little, into that space. Making room for a little photo collage of sorts next to her fancy easel -- the photo of her painting at their old house that Victor took on the top, one of the photos she took of Rory to become friends and get her to turn her into a werewolf on the bottom –

And one of those Moschino Stuff slideshow photo frames in the middle! Because I've been meaning to start using those for AGES now. This is where a bunch of the smaller photos went – I put all the little photos of the wedding from the party barn, one of my favorite little photos from the family reunion, a snap of them posing in front of the store, and a snap from their New Year’s Eve trio date into there and turned on the frame to display them as a slideshow, changing once per hour. :D So now I have a spot to keep tiny photos that I may like, but don’t have room for on the wall! Yay! :)

First Floor Hallway – Bunch of little changes here -- first up, I made the washer and dryer brighter colors (because why wouldn't I?) and put the MySim trophy of Yuki Alice found recently on top of them – turns out that WASN’T a duplicate after all! Nice! Then I got one of the three-photo-frame collage sets I unlocked with the family reunion, put the best three photos of the scenery around their honeymoon island in it (and sold the fourth, which was of a rainy miserable day anyway), and slapped the set up next to one of the windows beside the study. Wasn’t sure where else to put them, and they looked good there! And finally, I grabbed myself the egg-shaped decorative egg display shelf I downloaded from @somecreativecc (seriously, if you need displays, they are the place to go) and slapped it up where the previous hanging shelf with all the eggs had been (right by the entrance to the kitchen and the cats’ downstairs scratching post), moving all the eggs (with the help of “moveobjects on” to access all the slots) onto there! So now all ten eggs fit properly on those shelves, and there’s a dedicated space for the remaining two that need to be found, yay.

Downstairs Back Entrance/Mudroom – I had to move one of Alice’s paintings out of here into the kitchen, and rearrange the boots so they were along the wall next to the coat rack – reason being, the room is now smaller! And why is it smaller?

Day 15: Scott Costume

Obviously compared to T in general there is a much less range to choose from, however there are several top standouts. So I’m taking the opportunity to give some love to a very tippy top contender and a generally underrated/ not as widely appreciated performance: Their Paso Doble CD from 2009 Worlds.

(And in writing this post I’m actually regretting not doing this dress for T because it. is. STUNNING.. anyway.. next time)

This whole look for both of them is just *chefs kiss 💋. It’s a more understated look for a Paso, a lot of teams the guys went with the bedazzled jackets, super slick hair, which is a great look, but as I’ve said in a previous post talking about costumes, I like how TS were always more understated in a way that made them more… looking like humans in their performance environment. There’s no fancy lighting or sets to kind of absorb the wild costumes so it can be somewhat overwhelming and can consume the skaters- taking away from the actual athletics of their sport. But TS always dress with a balance of character and serving the aesthetics of their sport.

As was with most in the noughties his pants are a bit too full, too much fabric, but nothing much can be done about that, it was just the style back then. But that shirt is what we are really here to talk about. How beautiful is it?!! This picture doesn’t give it any justice and unfortunately I don’t think there are that many other pictures from this skate. So the best way to appreciate it is on video. The ruffles on the skirt are beautiful. So well made, the black piping to finish it off. But then I often forget there are ruffles on the wrists as well. It works so perfectly with her dress. Anything less and he would look underdressed next to her, but anymore and as I said it would be overwhelming. They have the most beautiful performance quality of any ID team ever so to take away from that with extravagant costumes as well would do them no justice. I have a soft spot for Scott always dressing minimalistly both for his own ease of movement, feeling comfortable to skating in and also most definitely not to take away from her, but I also love when he’s in something with a bit more to it because he has such a beautiful figure and his confidence on the ice- he never feels (or at least looks) self conscious. That confidence of course grew as they got older so by their final season they could totally own it and felt so empowered to step out of their comfort zone and disappear into new characters.

1. Monsta X - "Beautiful Liar"

listen. when I said

in january of last year I meant it with my whole ass and I stand by it an entire earth year later. this song fucks So hard

firstable Yes I'm sad this is their last cb with most of the group in a while but also jesus what a banger to go out on

I love the guitars, the looks everyone is serving, the funky little twist in the song structure after the second verse, plus thinking always about lovemelovemelovemetellmetellmetellme + the chains + kihyun with a literal goddamn whip + the gunshot sound effects punctuating joohoney's verse. chefs kiss

2. Taemin - "Guilty"

god taemin is back and you can just feel the catholicity through the screen. the haunting vocals. the delicious string textures throughout (the way the arpeggios shift to pizzicato for the second verse!). the 6/4 time (the only choreo I learned this year that was not to an 8 count). the fucking through the shirt grab. the bridge which they extended in the MV specifically to squeeze in Even More Yearning™.

this is a perfect cb and I will say the rest of the album is also flawless and my favorite out of this list. honestly this probably would have been first if not for the fact that I personally just liked beautiful liar so goddamn much. thank you taemin. no notes.

3. SHINee - "HARD"

aka the song I previously described as "2 baddies, but Good" (no really, they have same key signature & near identical song structure. listen to them side by side with HARD on .95 speed if you don't believe me)

anyway, like 2 baddies this is SM-flavored af but I love the old school hip-hop vibes in HARD soooo much. I've had some people tell me they found it weird and off-putting but to me it's effortlessly cool but also earnest and just. fun? (not only the music but also the visuals? hello? the fashions in this MV) def gotta be one of my most played this year

4. Lee Gi Kwang - "Predator"

ok now for a dark horse pick. I feel like in the borderline 5th gen landscape nowadays older groups are often forgotten (even though hello! 2nd gen bgs are back from the military now and are having a Moment) so people perhaps understandably overlooked this one but god this song is a bop.

is it just criminal by taemin part 2 but less sexy and with a lower budget? yes. but the song is an absolute bop and the choreo slaps in its own right so imo it's a very worthy homage especially given it captures its exact gender of "pathetic sadboy making horny mistakes and needing to dance abt it" so so perfectly,

5. Exo - "Cream Soda"

tbh not what I was expecting from an exo comeback and I was surprised that I ended up liking this so much given I didn't really care for the prerelease tracks, but the more I listened the more this grew on me?

ofc it's an exo track so the vocals are 100 emoji but the chorus and melodies are simply addictive and the choreo for this one is also just a ton of fun (the sexy little head swipe,)

also I love the outfits in this MV (everyone keeps saying this is the Weed aesthetic but honestly? with korea's whole Thing? this is exo's macklemore-style thrift shopping and/or raiding grandma's attic for hidden midcentury treasures phase. to me.) but thank u @ the universe specifically for giving us back silver haired baekhyun. bless.

6. VIXX - "Amnesia"

another underrated release tbh! this initially gave me guilty vibes w/ the abundant use of pizzes since they were released around the same time but I also just independently love this song

I feel like it's a very mature song that takes itself seriously but not in an overly self-absorbed or cheesy way (another comparison I might make is to leo's losing game from last year), the chorus is poignant and hits hard because it's so earnest—maybe especially so since they were down to 3 with this cb—but man that melody is just so gorgeous, like it haunts me

7. Dreamcatcher - "Bon Voyage"

ok if I'm gonna be real it wasn't a great year for my faves—while I liked OOTD and reason they weren't top 10 worthy for me, mx had 1 excellent release before having most of its members yoinked by the military, and I didn't love either of oneus's cbs this year

that being said! I did still like bon voyage! while I preferred the first 2 in the trilogy it still felt like a good and fitting finale, bittersweet and full of equal parts regret and hope

in many ways it feels like a harkening back to classic dreamcatcher with the Big Anime Opening Vibes™ but more somber and grown up, an unexpected summer anthem from these queens,

8. TXT - "Sugar Rush Ride"

it's been a busy year for txt and while I'm not super familiar with them and their releases are sometimes a bit hit or miss for me, when they do hit they HIT

I actually considered chasing that feeling for this list too but despite adoring the take on me-ness of it I ended up nixing it after adjusting for recency bias

sugar rush ride though, I feel is a bop that stood the test of time with its catchiness and surprisingly dark undertones, and is also one of my favorite choreos I learned this year by far like. come on. it's the epitome of Boy Group Hot.

9. Taeyang - "Vibe"

this song lived rent-free in my head for MONTHS, god it's so catchy

I actually missed when my local studio taught this song but I liked the choreo so much I learned it on my own which, predictably since it literally features 2 main dancers, was not easy but extremely worth it bc just like the song itself it's just really fun

other than that what can I say. the MV is nothing special but otherwise it's just a really solid song with Big feel good energy.

10. Kiss of Life - "Shhh"

ok,,,,,,,I don't really follow rookie groups that closely bc generally I don't feel like I'm the target audience but. out of this year's new groups I did especially like kiss of life's debut!

the MV doesn't do much for me tbh but musically it sounds uncharacteristically mature to me, in a good way—it has a subtle confidence about it that I like plus excellent vocals, and is (possibly hot take?) what I was hoping to get from newjeans this year as a continuation of their debut last year tbh

Honorable Mentions

Jungkook - "Standing Next to You"

this one just felt like cheating bc it's technically an English single and there's probably some recency bias here but I can't not mention it bc I simply love this track. I'm not even a BTS stan but it's just a jam with great vocals and instrumentals (the big band notes and MJ influence! please!) and the choreo is also SO ridiculously fun, both the chorus and the dance break

BTOB - "Wind and Wish"

this is just a wholesome song that makes you feel good, like is it a lil bit cheesy? yeah, but it's also Good Vibes Comma the Song, wearing its entire heart on its sleeve in the most endearing way. it's nostalgic and mellow and full of love for its friends and a zest for life

also special shoutout to the bridge, which in such an otherwise lowkey song did not have to go that hard and yet it Did?? that harmony gives me chills, 100% certified vocal kings would cry again

Shownu X Hyungwon - "Love Me a Little"

this is a pathetic meow meow song in the best possible way and was sadly beat out by the other slightly better pathetic meow meow songs on this list (guilty, predator, amnesia) bc it was just a really good year for them but I still think it deserves a mention bc first of all yea boi @ my mans shownu being free from the military but also the instrumental/dance break at the end is dark as hell and also SO fucking tasty

Infinite - "New Emotions"

another 2nd gen group that quietly had a renaissance this year! this song is simply a bop and while the song itself is not as memorable as some in the top 10 the choreo is actually really fun

also myungsoo looks really ridiculously fine as center in the first chorus and that's the last thing I have to say about this song,

Key - "Killer"

honestly I really liked both of key's cbs this year but I feel like killer was slept on somewhat, it's got a hint of sadboi but it's tempered by the upbeat 80s pop style, plus the grungy mullet and beret outfit from the MV was a fucking Look and a Half

Ambiance: 8/10 (the rustic and brutalist aesthetics, chef kiss should be 9 sobrang ingat lang or sa dame ng tao at may buong family pa kasi with kids )

Cozy: 8/10

Furniture: 8/10 (i love the chairs!!!)

Music: 10/10 (chill, very cottage-core)

Work/Study Friendly: 6/10 (saks lang kulang sa outlets)

Staff: 10/10 (very nice they serve the foods)

Overall Rating: 8/10 (ganda, aesthetic needs lang to improve on the menu, need more cakes and pastries sana)
