Did you know there is an annual Miss Fisher Con each year? Check out the link below. You, too, could be an adventuress/adventurer! I went to virtual con last year and am going in person for the first time this year.
The special guest this year is @marion Joyce, who designed all the insanely amazing costumes for the show.
Check it out, my fellow Phrackers; you won't be sorry!

Miss Fisher Snippets (112)
Phryne’s romantic overture. To all the lovers in the world, Happy Valentine’s Day!
********************
p.s. I did the photo edit for a post after the inaugural Miss Fisher Con in Las Vegas (May 2017). Little did I know then that 6 years later, I am still posting and the Con is still going strong. This year we will be celebrating everything Miss Fisher in St. Paul, Minnesota (July 27-29, 2023). Check out MissFisherCon.com if you are interested in attending and/or becoming a member of The Adventuresses’ Club of the Americas, ACotA.

New Post has been published on https://toldnews.com/technology/entertainment/whats-on-tv-monday-ms-fishers-modern-murder-mysteries-and-the-show-must-go-on/
What’s on TV Monday: ‘Ms. Fisher’s Modern Murder Mysteries’ and ‘The Show Must Go On’
Tumblr media
An Australian crime series gets a new spinoff on Acorn TV. And a documentary about Queen and Adam Lambert is on ABC.
What’s Streaming
MS. FISHER’S MODERN MURDER MYSTERIES Stream on Acorn TV. The Australian crime show “Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries” — about an elegant heiress-turned-detective in 1920s Melbourne named Phryne Fisher — got rave reviews in the land down under when it debuted in 2012, and gained a global following with distribution by Netflix, Acorn TV and PBS. This spinoff takes place in the ’60s and focuses on Phryne’s audacious niece, Peregrine (Geraldine Hakewill), who inherits Phryne’s fortune after she disappears and is presumed dead. And — shocker! — Peregrine becomes a sleuth, too, chasing murderers with the help of a hunky detective (Joel Jackson) and women from her aunt’s Adventuresses’ Club.
AMERICAN HONEY (2016) Stream on Netflix; rent on Amazon, Google Play, iTunes, Vudu or YouTube. This nearly three-hour movie is a dizzying trip across Middle America in the company of some very reckless youth. At the outset, Star (Sasha Lane), a poor teenager in Oklahoma, leaves her family to join a group of drifters who ostensibly sell magazine subscriptions door to door. (They mostly pass the time partying and hustling gullible customers.) The story grows darker, but it also gives way to tenderness when Star becomes involved with Jake (Shia LaBeouf), a high-earner who answers to the group’s leader, Krystal (Riley Keough), in more ways than one. He’s a lot to handle, and so is Star. By the end, it’s clear that the tale is really about the baggage we carry and where it might lead us. “The movie is a sprawling anthology of contradictory feelings, sensations and genres,” A. O. Scott wrote in his review in The New York Times. “It’s an episodic travelogue, a coming-of-age chronicle and an indictment of grim social conditions.”
WAITING FOR ‘SUPERMAN’ (2010) Stream on Amazon; rent on Google Play, iTunes, Vudu or YouTube. The director Davis Guggenheim (“An Inconvenient Truth”) sheds light on the failings of the United States public education system in this alarming documentary. Educators explain how ineffective schools and teachers have kept thousands of students from academic success, and we see part of the process in action: The lens follows five children whose chances of going to charter schools rely on highly competitive lotteries.
What’s on TV
THE SHOW MUST GO ON: THE QUEEN + ADAM LAMBERT STORY (2019) 8 p.m. on ABC. Last year’s Oscar-winning biopic “Bohemian Rhapsody” tells the story of Queen’s electric frontman, Freddie Mercury. This new documentary jumps ahead to the band’s second life, focusing on the rise of its current frontman, Adam Lambert, who first sang with the group as a finalist on American Idol in 2009 and joined a new version of the outfit in 2012. Named after a song from Queen’s 1991 LP “Innuendo,” the movie features behind-the-scenes concert footage and interviews with Lambert, the founding band members Brian May and Roger Taylor and the “Bohemian Rhapsody” star Rami Malek.

Since 1924, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade has been a beloved part of the holiday for millions. The parade just wouldn't be the parade, though, without the giant character balloons floating above the crowds. The first of the balloons, Felix the Cat, made his debut in 1927, along with 3 other friends. (I could only find a photo of one of the other '27 balloons.
In 1965, legendary superhero Underdog took to the skies above the parade. Here he's leading the way for the Bullwinkle balloon.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Alright my amazing fellow Phryne lovers, I need help coming up with how to decorate my grad cap to be MFMM themed. I got a good quote on the Slack chat,
“There’s a whole world out there.”
But I’m not at all artistic/creative so I’d love some help coming up with a way to decorate.

Miss Fisher Snippets (66)
I am heading to Louisville, Kentucky, for Miss Fisher Con 2022, playing dressing-up, enjoying cocktail parties, and partaking in many fun events for the next three days (August 4 – 6). Organized by the capable committee members of The Adventuresses Club of the Americas, a group of Miss Fisher fans meet up somewhere in the U.S. once a year to show the world how much we love the fabulous lady detective and her friends. This year there is an extra special reason for celebration as it’s the 10th year anniversary of the TV show. Since the debuted in Australia on 24-Feb-2012, the show has been aired over 100 countries and territories, winning the hearts of millions of passionate fans around of the world.
If you are unable to attend the con physically or virtually, I hope you will participate spiritually by re-watching the show and/or the movie, following the posts on social media (#missfishercon or #missfishercon2022), reading the Phryne Fisher book series, etc. Enjoy!

Adventuresses We Love – Fanny Bullock Workman
Adventuress Fanny Workman’s exploits included bicycling across Europe, Algeria, Egypt, and India, but she’s best remembered as one of the first female professional mountaineers. She was one of the first women to climb the Matterhorn and explored the Himalaya. But it’s her adventures on a pair of glaciers that we’re highlighting today.
It was on her first trip to the Himalaya that Fanny and her husband tackled Pakistan’s Skoro La Glacier. She reached its peak, which she named Siegfriedhorn after her late son. At 18,600 ft, this summit was the highest any woman had climbed at the time. She would go higher while exploring the peaks surrounding the glacier, and in so doing became the first woman to see K2.
In 1911/1912, Workman organized and led an expedition through uncharted territory to Pakistan’s Kaberi Glacier. It was a dangerous trek – one of her guides was killed when he fell into a crevasse, and Fanny herself was lucky to escape – but the band ultimately succeeded in their exploration. Near the end of it, on Silver Throne Plateau, at over 21,000 ft., the ardent suffragette unfurled a “Votes for Women” newspaper for what would become an iconic photograph.
With the onset of World War I, Workman retired from exploring and turned instead to writing and lecturing. She became the first American woman to lecture at the Sorbonne and one of the first women admitted to the Royal Geographic Society.
Adventuress Fanny Bullock Workman died Jan. 22, 1925, after a long illness. She was 66.
