Keeping Spirits Bright
Julie and the Phantoms Advent fills 2024! We're back baby! Another year, another 25 days of holiday joy with our favourite ghost band! I hope you enjoy, and remember, engagement is the best present this holiday season!
Day 1: Adventure + PeterPatter <=AO3
When the Pattersons decided to retreat to a cabin in the woods to give Luke the real old fashioned holiday experience, he only had one request-he wanted to bring Reggie with them.
“Oh honey, won’t his family want to spend Christmas with him?” Emily asked. She didn’t know much about the Peters; Reggie never mentioned them much, but surely they wouldn’t let their only son up and leave for the holidays.
“Reggie doesn’t celebrate Christmas,” Luke replied. “He celebrates…Hanka?”
“Channukah?” she corrected with a smile.
“That’s the one!” Luke stated with a snap and a pointed finger. “So his family won’t mind and I think he’d really like to have Christmas for once. Please ma? I won’t even ask for any presents if Reggie can come!”
“No presents? Really?” she asked with an arched eyebrow.
“Well…not many presents,” Luke amended. “Plus I need to get Reg something.”
Emily melted at that-Luke had taken Reggie under his arm since he moved to LA a few months ago, and she loved how devoted the boys were to each other. It also didn’t hurt that Reggie was always so sweet and thankful for every scrap of affection any of them showed him every time he visited. So if Emily could do this for her son, she would.
Thankfully, Linus and Evelynn Peters seemed more than happy to let Reggie go, and Emily ignored the mumbled comments of him not being underfoot. Luke had let out a whoop of joy at the news, enveloping Emily in a big hug, which she treasured, especially since Luke seemed to shirk every touch since hitting double digits.
So the day after school let out, the Pattersons packed up their station wagon, heading down to Silver Lake, then they would make their way north to the little cabin they had rented until January. Where the forecast was calling for a little snow, giving Emily the white Christmas she wanted without subjecting her California boys to a blizzard. She swore one day she would bring them home to Quebec-maybe for Carnivale, they would like that.
“You excited Luke?” Mitch asked as they neared Reggie’s house.
“Yeah!” Luke exclaimed. “Me an’ Reg are gonna make a snowman, and help you chop down a tree, and sing carols!”
Emily and Mitch shared a grin-Luke may be nearing his teen years, but he was always enthusiastic about the holidays. That’s why they were doing this now before he got too old for it or decided both they and Christmas were too lame to even acknowledge.
Their smiles faded though, when they arrived at the little faded yellow house to find Reggie already outside, sitting on his suitcase. All alone, with no one to see him off or even say goodbye to. Even as he lit up, rushing to the car, tossing his luggage in the trunk before claiming his seat next to Luke. “Thanks again for letting me come Mr. & Mrs. P.”
“Of course Reggie, happy to have you,” Mitch said, reaching over to squeeze Emily’s hand. Now more than ever she was determined to give her boys-and that included Reggie now-a great holiday.
They drove on, the boys happily chatting away in the back seat, the radio playing softly, with Emily knitting as the scenery passed by. She had already made Luke and Mitch new stockings, and she was almost done her own. Thank goodness she had brought lots of yarn though, because she was definitely going to be making one for Reggie. They already had things to fill it with, so she just needed to knit it.
By the time they got to the road for the cabin, the boys were asleep in the back, and Emily was flagging herself. They had stopped for supper at a small diner hours earlier, so they only had to unpack the car when they got in before bed.
Luke of course, was up with the sun, waking Reggie with him in the process since they were sharing a bed. “We should go out, have some adventures before ma and pop get up,” he said quietly.
Reggie gave him a bleary smile, the both of them invigorated by the fresh cool air. “We should look for reindeer!” he exclaimed.
“Why?”
“Well Santa has to store them somewhere with room to run around before Christmas, why not here?”
Luke had to keep his face from moving-since Reggie had never done Christmas, apparently no one had ever told him the truth about Santa either. Luke had known for a year or two, and while he was a little sad the world was a less magical place, he had come to terms with it. His folks had explained it to him, and even offered to still do Santa presents for him, but he figured he was too old for that. Maybe he could change the tags though-just to let Reggie keep the magic alive a little longer. Then he’d tell him the truth once they were home.
But he could erase the joy in Reggie’s heart-not yet anyway. “Yeah, let’s go see if we can find Rudolph!”
So they scurried through the forest, upsetting dirt and the small bit of frost there. Pretending they were explorers, discovering unclaimed land, on the hunt for the fabled North Pole.
Of course there were no reindeer to be found, but they were having too much fun to care, collecting pine cones, spotting the odd bird or creature who hadn’t hidden away to hibernate. Making up songs as they explored, only heading back when they heard Luke’s mom call out for breakfast.
“I guess Santa brought the reindeer back to the North Pole already, Reg,” Luke said.
Reggie deflated for a moment then shrugged. “It was a long shot anyways. I bet they’re in like the Yukon during the off season anyways-less travel time.”
“You’re totally right,” Luke said, then tapped him on the shoulder. “Tag, you’re it!”
“No fair!” Reggie giggled, chasing after him, all thought of reindeer forgotten.
Well until he opened his stocking on Christmas morning and found a messily scrawled song about two explorers finding the North Pole. And even if Luke told him there was no Santa, Reggie still had that song, and all those memories to keep the magic of the holidays alive for the rest of his life. A song he shared with his and Luke’s kids many years later as they went on their own reindeer hunt.

@1mnobodywhoareyou Here is your snippet. Enjoy! (And Happy Juke Jeudi!)
Hamster Luke is on the loose, and Ghost Luke wants a pet. His motives are questionable.
“Alright, little dude, enjoy your time.”
Julie puts the plastic ball down, and Luke (the hamster) quickly sets off to explore every corner of her apartment. She has to admit, the ball is handy. It allows Luke to go on his own adventure while simultaneously preventing him from hiding behind her shelves. However, Julie does fear he might get stuck under the couch. Maybe she should construct a barricade or something.
“You know,” Luke (the ghost) says as he hoists himself on the counter. “You should get a pet too.”
Julie throws him a skeptical look. So far, she hasn’t been under the impression that he’s very fond of pets. “Anything specific in mind?”
Luke flashes her a cocky smirk, and he swings his legs with too much enthusiasm. Thankfully, Julie has learned to anticipate his antics. Twirling an elegant pirouette, she avoids getting kicked through her head as she moves to inspect the other supplies Reggie has provided.
“A cat,” Luke declares decidedly. “You should get a cat.”
“A cat?” Julie repeats, baffled. That’s not the answer she expected. Luke doesn’t exactly strike her as a cat-person. A dog? Yeah, maybe. But a cat? Never. She tells him as much.
“Oh, I hate them,” Luke chirps cheerfully. “My parents’ neighbors used to have a cat. His name was Winston– What kind of stupid name even is this? Winston! Anyway, they had this cat, and he was a demonl!”
Julie scoffs. “Yeah, sure.”
“I swear, Julie!” Luke cries out, his arms flailing wildly. “He had it out for me! Every time I snuck out, he jumped out of my mom’s roses and attacked me!”
“Maybe you shouldn’t have tried to sneak out.”
“That’s not the point!”
“Then what is the point?”
“The point is …”, Luke says loudly, and Julie’s glad that nobody but her can hear him. “... that he was a murderous monster who tried to kill innocent and well-respected members of the community!”
Julie snorts. Innocent. Sure. She crosses her arms and juts out her chin. “What did you do to him?”
“Nothing!”
Julie raises a doubtful eyebrow, and Luke crumbles instantly.
“Okay, maybe I ran him over with my bike. Once. Or twice. And, yeah, I was a bit reckless when I experimented with the fireworks. But that’s hardly a reason to kill–”
“Enough!” Julie cuts him off because his reasoning is getting ludicrous, and she doesn’t know if she really wants to hear all the details. But she can’t shake the feeling that Winston had a few very good reasons to ambush Luke.
Luke dutifully snaps his mouth shut. But he never stops swinging his legs.
“If you hate cats so much, why do you want me to get one?” In hindsight, Julie should have seen it coming. Her mistake, really.
Luke’s expression turns devious, and he looks over to where hamster-Luke is rolling around in his ball. “I heard they can be helpful when dealing with rodent infestation.”
Not sure if this will make the final cut. But I had fun.

I’ve seen that your thinking about taking some request so… I’d love to read a Bobby/Alex with suicidal!Alex written by you, I’m really in love with your writing style. In any case, I hope you manage to reach your 100 fic goal! 🥰🥰🥰
Hello!! SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG. I am now actually trying to reach my 150 fic goal.... but at least I was finally able to put your awesome prompt into words! Hope you enjoy :)
TW: depression, talk of suicide attempt/ideation (nothing graphic, no one dies or is even hurt). take care of yourselves folks
Bobby’s not asleep when the phone rings, but he is a level and a half away from finally beating Zelda’s Adventure, so the annoyance in his voice is entirely legitimate when he answers with a simple, “Dude.”
He doesn’t need to bother asking who it is. Only his dumbass friends call him in the middle of the night.
It’s Alex on the other end, and his voice comes out quiet and dull, more so than just the late hour would usually warrant. “Hi.”
Bobby sits up straighter, pausing his game and putting the controller aside. “Alex? You all right, man?”
Alex gives a soft, sleepy hum. Bobby starts looking for his shoes.
“Bad night?” He fights to keep his voice calm and casual even as his heart threatens to beat right out of his chest. He doesn’t know the whole situation yet—there’s no point in getting all up in arms about something that might not even be happening, especially if his panic ends up being the very thing to push Alex over the edge.
“Yeah,” Alex whispers, voice a little teary now. “I didn’t—I haven’t—”
“Okay,” Bobby steps in so he doesn’t have to say it, even as he goes practically faint with relief. He holds the phone in one hand so he can pull his shoes on with the other. “I’m coming over anyway, okay? Be there in ten minutes.”
“It’s so late,” Alex whispers. “Shit, I shouldn’t have bothered you. Fuck.”
Fuck is right. Bobby’s mind races—he’s gotta hang up the phone if he’s gonna leave the house, but if he leaves Alex spiraling like this…
He’d call Luke or Reggie, middle of the night be damned, and ask them to stay on the phone with Alex until Bobby can get over there, if he hadn’t promised himself—promised Alex—that he wouldn’t tell their friends how bad this gets sometimes.
So he cuts off Alex’s rambly apologies with a quick, “Hey, hey, hey, where are you right now?”
A pause, and then: “Bathroom.”
Bobby mentally curses. The only worse place for Alex to be when he gets like this than the bathroom is the kitchen—and pills are a lot easier to swallow, pun morbidly intended, than putting a knife to your skin. The temptation is harder to resist when he’s on his own.
But he takes a breath, keeps his voice calm. “Okay. That’s a good place to be, yeah? Nice and quiet in the bathroom.” He rubs a hand over his mouth, thinking. “Listen, Lex, I want you to look up at the ceiling for me, all right? How many grains are in the tile?”
Alex scoffs. “I don’t fucking know, like a million?”
“Right, but I gotta know how many exactly, see, so I can… so I can get the same design at my new place!”
He’s got his keys, his coat—shit, pants would probably be helpful. After a moment of hesitation, Alex says, “The fuck you talking about? What new place?”
“The place… that I’m gonna get for us. After high school. All right, you hear me? I want those same damn tiles for the ceiling of our bathroom when I get you out of that fucking house and someplace safe, so I need you to count the grains for me, so I know how to get ‘em exactly right.”
He’s dressed now, one hand on the front door—all he needs now is for Alex to be okay, and then he can go make sure Alex is okay.
“What about Luke and Reggie?”
“Oh, those two doofuses? They can live with us too, I guess. If they want.”
Alex snorts, and it’s enough. Enough to tell Bobby he’s still got some humor left in him, despite the bad night. Enough to let Bobby’s heart drop out of his throat, to let him believe Alex is out of the danger zone. It’s gonna take a lot to get him totally back in the green, to convince his brain to shut up for a minute and let Alex believe Bobby when he says he deserves to live.
They’ve got a long night ahead of them, but everything will look brighter in the morning.
Alex starts to count, low but out loud, and Bobby breathes through so much love for him it hurts. “Good job, buddy,” he whispers. “Wait right there for me. I’m on my way.”

Happy birthday week!!! If you're feeling up to it, taking a bit of icing and putting it on their cheek for Boggie? <3
thank you! i had way too many ideas for this so you get two different endings 😅 choose your own adventure lite ™️ ending 1: in the platonic realm ending 2: flirty boys
The others are deep in conversation about… something. Reggie’s not really paying attention. He watches Bobby carefully peel the paper off of his cupcake.
Bobby sets the paper down on the table. He splits the cake in half, just like he always does, and firmly plants the bottom onto the top, making a cupcake sandwich. He manages to complete the entire process without looking down at his hands once.
The guys had mocked him mercilessly the first time they saw him eat a cupcake this way but Bobby wasn’t deterred from his eating habits and had maintained the practice in all the years since. “I get icing in every bite,” Reggie can hear him say, “and it doesn’t make such a mess.”
With a mischievous glint in his eye, Reggie scoops a finger full of icing from his own cupcake and smears it down the side of Bobby’s face.
The conversation comes to an immediate stop as Bobby turns to Reggie, jaw dropped and eyes wide.
Reggie’s giggle breaks the stark silence. “You, uh… Got a little something,” Reggie says, pointing at Bobby.
Bobby takes a finger up to his face and wipes off the icing with one sweep.
Reggie tracks the movement as Bobby licks his finger clean.
“So that’s how you wanna play, huh?” Bobby asks.
“Oooohhhhhhh,” Luke heckles from where he’s safely seated on the other side of the table.
Reggie squeaks as Bobby grabs one of the extra cupcakes and turns toward him.
Reggie stumbles out of his chair and tries to run but Bobby’s faster, catching Reggie easily around the waist with one arm.
Bobby throws Reggie to the ground. He uses his knees and free arm to pin Reggie down.
Bobby grins. “Any last words?”
“I give! Surrender! You win!”
Bobby leans forward so that his nose is mere inches from Reggie’s, “Too bad. Payback’s a bitch.”
He sits back up with another grin. “Hope you were hungry!” he says as he presses the cupcake into Reggie’s face.
Ending 1:
Bobby climbs off of Reggie and heads back to the table wearing a victorious smirk.
Reggie wipes the cake off his face with his hand as he works to stand back up, licking off his fingers as he moves.
“How does retribution taste?” Bobby asks cheekily.
Reggie beams at him, “Like chocolate!”
“That’s not…” Alex starts to say before stopping himself. “Never mind, doesn’t matter.”
Reggie walks up to Bobby. “You missed a spot,” he says before grabbing Bobby by the chin and back of his head, licking a stripe up the side of Bobby’s face.
He laughs at Bobby’s stunned expression and runs to the bathroom, quickly closing and locking the door behind him. He continues giggling to himself as he cleans off his sticky face, ignoring the banging and yelling from the other side of the door. He knows that payback awaits him but he already knows that whatever it is was entirely worth it.
Ending 2:
Bobby climbs off of Reggie but is caught by the wrist before he can get up. He makes the mistake of stopping his movement and turning back toward Reggie.
Bobby’s met with a shit-eating grin and barely has a moment to react before Reggie’s launching himself at Bobby and halfway managing to reverse their positions.
Reggie runs a hand down his face, collecting as much cake and icing as he can. He smears it over Bobby’s face.
Bobby splutters in surprise as Luke fails to suppress his laughter from the other side of the room. He sits up fully, Reggie firmly planted in his lap and seemingly uninterested in leaving. They both wipe at their faces, laughing as they alternate between smearing new finger-fulls on each others’ faces and licking off their hands.
“Stop flirting and just kiss already!” Luke calls from the other side of the room.
Reggie and Bobby still. They look at Luke and then back at each other, faces beet red.
Reggie tentatively reaches out and scoops some of the last bit of cake from Bobby’s eyebrow. He brings it to his mouth and licks his fingers off, eyes never leaving Bobby’s.
Bobby tracks the motion but doesn’t move.
Reggie does it again but this time instead of licking it off himself, he offers his finger to Bobby with a sly smile.
Bobby takes the bait and exaggeratedly cleans off Reggie’s finger. Reggie’s mouth drops open as he watches Bobby’s mouth work.
“God! Not here! Get a room,” Alex shouts, interrupting them before they can even consider actually kissing.
Reggie clambours off of Bobby, offering a hand to pull Bobby up. “Fine.”
He doesn’t let go of Bobby’s hand, pulling Bobby behind him toward the bathroom so they can clean off their rapidly drying faces.
If they happen to return after an extended delay and more smiley than is probably reasonable, then that’s entirely their business.

jatp + dnd au? (general fantasy au if dnd isn’t your thing)
Oooo okay anon, thanks for the ask! I'm fairly new to DnD but I shall do my best!
Julie is an eladrin(elvish) wizard(she prefers sorceress though), well known throughout the land for her skills in communing with the dead. Everyone knows her by that reputation, so they visit her tower expecting lots of gothic art and black, only to be surprised by all the plants growing around the space and how light and free the space feels. Her secret to connecting with the dead is to offer them a taste of life through her space and powerful aura.
Luke is a human bard, because of course he is. He met Julie while on a personal quest to 'find his soul' or something like that. After finishing the quest and gaining a new, magical lute, he couldn't get the bright, lively necromancer off his mind, so he went back. They became fast friends and make music together. And Luke maybe writes a lot of songs about Julie(hey he's a bard, it's his duty to praise those around him).
Reggie is a half-elf ranger. Like Luke, he first met Julie while on an adventure. He was assisting another party at the time. But they didn't appreciate his help and expertise and cast him off as soon as he was no longer of use. Alone and wounded, he found his way back to the only sanctuary he'd found on the journey: A tower that balanced between life and death. Julie nursed him back to health and they two became close during his recovery. He still adventures a lot, he's got a fair amount of wanderlust, but the tower and those who live there have become his home.
Alex and Willie found the tower while fleeing a mob that was determined to destroy their 'abominable' union. To be fair, an elven druid and a changeling rogue aren't exactly a common combination. However, the two cared deeply for each other and were willing to risk the wrath of their families to be together. Julie granted them shelter and sent their pursuers off in the wrong direction. The two stayed in the tower for a few weeks, then began constructing their own home nearby. They have a little cottage just a few minutes away from Julie's tower. They also adopted a baby griffin they found. It was hurt and alone, what else were they supposed to do?
Flynn is a human artificer who befriended Julie before she moved out into the middle of the woods. She comes by regularly to swap stories and hang out with her best friend. She is endlessly amused by all the strays Julie keeps collecting. But also she and Willie get along really well, and he starts teaching her some fancy combat stuff. It's not uncommon to come into Julie's clearing to see the pair of them sparring in the open space. Often Julie and Alex are in the garden nearby, working on the plants and chatting and watching them.
This was so fun!!! I'm way too invested in this AU now. I hope that was what you wanted, I... have no idea.
(Send me an AU and I'll give you 5+ headcanons about it!)

Tag List: @happinessinthedarkesttimes @molinaroberts @joynersgoatblog @courageous-she @littlemissaddict @gloomybrieyxb @itsyagorlemmalyn @jatpxmultifan @moneybagmgk @emeliii1 @mybradforddream (the strike through means it wont let me tag you)
In Luke and Reggie’s defence, Bobby probably shouldn’t have left them at the studio alone when he went to go pick up Alex. Both boys had spent the afternoon in their little headspaces, and were down for a nap when it was time to get Alex from work, so Bobby figured there wasn’t much trouble that they could get into.
He was wrong.
Luke woke to find the studio empty and Reggie sniffling, tears running down his face. He moved quickly, wrapping his arms around the other boy.
“What’s wrong Reggie?” He asked.
“Bobby left us.” Reggie whimpered. “He don’t love us anymore.”
“He does love us.” Luke assured the younger boy.
“Lukey? Can we go to the park?” Reggie looked at him with pleading eyes and Luke’s eyes lit up in excitement.
“Yeah! That’s gonna be so fun!” He grinned, and Reggie gave him a watery smile.
“Come on Reg, let’s get your shoes on.” Luke picked up the sandshoes that Alex had bought for them to wear to the park, frowning at the laces.
“What’s wrong?” Reggie asked, snuggling into Luke’s side.
“I can’t do it by myself.” Luke admitted, before an idea popped into his head.
“That’s okay.” He assured Reggie. “We don’t need shoes, we can play without them.”
“Lexi will be mad.” Reggie’s bottom lip jutted out and Luke began to panic, not wanting his little brother to cry again.
“No he won’t I promise.” He said quickly, before noticing Bobby’s already tied sneakers at the door. Maybe he could slide them onto Reggie’s feet. He grabbed them, before gently taking Reggie’s foot and shoving the shoe onto it. Bobby’s feet were clearly bigger than Reggie’s but it didn’t matter. Now Reggie had shoes on, and a big smile on his face. Luke giggled, feeling quite naughty that they were going to go to the park without Bobby and Alex. He didn’t even mind that they’d probably get angry. He took Reggie’s hand.
“Let’s go.” He said, and together they wandered out of the garage, hand in hand.
“What do mean they’re gone?” Alex exclaimed, eyes wide. Bobby stood in front of him, his normally calm demeanour replaced with pure panic.
“They were sleeping when I left, I didn’t think they’d wake up.” Bobby replied and Alex started pacing.
“We have to find them. You said they’re both little, right? Think about how much trouble they could get into.” Alex bit his lip.
“Luke will take care of Reggie.” Bobby said, his voice wobbling slightly at the thought of something happening to Reggie or Luke.
“Luke is mentally six years old right now, he can’t even take care of himself. Oh god, what if someone sees them? Or some weirdo tries to take advantage of them?” Alex rambled, already spiraling. Bobby grabbed his shoulders.
“Lex, take a deep breath.” He instructed, and when Alex was finally slightly calmer, Bobby spoke again. “Where would two little kids go on their own?”
“The park.” Alex realised, visibly relaxing.
“Of course.” Bobby agreed. “Come on, let’s go find our boys.”
Luke had never had more fun at the park in his life, running around giggling with Reggie as they climbed on the playground and pretended that they were princes in a castle.
They were having so much fun they didn’t even notice Bobby’s car pulling into the parking lot and Alex and Bobby hurrying towards them.
“Lucas, Reginald.” Alex called, and both Luke and Reggie froze. “Get down here now.”
Luke let Reggie go first, waiting as he slid down the slide and threw himself at Bobby who caught him with a practiced ease, as Luke slid down to join them.
“You two know you’re not allowed to go out on your own.” Alex reprimanded. “There’s bad people out here who could do bad things to you. We were so worried about you.”
Luke pouted. He hated being in trouble. That meant he wouldn’t be allowed to watch cartoons before bed.
“Sorry Lexi.” He mumbled, and Reggie repeated Luke’s words, his voice muffled by Bobby’s shoulder.
“Are we going home now?” Luke asked sadly.
“We are.” Alex nodded. “The park isn’t safe for little boys at night.”
“I’m not little.” Luke protested, stomping his foot.
“Luke.” Bobby warned.
“Can we get McDonalds?” Reggie asked quietly, and Alex shook his head.
“Only good boys get McDonalds.” He answered. “Have you been good boys?”
“No.” Reggie pouted, looking like he might cry, and Alex’s tough demeanour flickered for a moment. Noticing Alex was close to breaking Bobby decided to jump in.
“What about we go back to the studio right now and if you two are good all the way back and have your baths nicely we’ll order pizza?” He suggested, and instantly Luke and Reggie were happy again, giggling excitedly as Bobby and Alex led them back to the car, Alex holding Luke’s hand and Reggie still held in Bobby’s arms.
“You did good Lex.” Bobby whispered once they were on their way home, with Luke chattering away to Reggie about a truck he saw outside.
“It’s so hard.” Alex sighed, and Bobby took a hand off the steering wheel to link his fingers through Alex’s, squeezing gently.
Their little group wasn’t conventional by any means, but they wouldn’t change it for the world.

“Damn I got blood on my shirt” for polyphantoms?
“Luke? Luke?”
Luke couldn’t tell whose voice drifted to him through the foggy darkness of his mind. Where the hell was he? He was laying on a cold hard surface of some sort, an uneven surface based on whatever was jabbing into his back.
“Luke!” Luke groaned as the shout ricocheted painfully around his head. Luke painfully blinked his eyes open. Based on the voices he was finally registering the blurry figures hovering above him were Reggie and Alex.
“Oh thank god.” Reggie shakily exhaled, his face red and blotchy once Luke’s vision focused again. Tears pooled at the edges of his stormy sea eyes. Alex’s face had gone pale, his lips a thin tight line.
Luke moaned louder, involuntarily wincing at the pains and aches that shot through him as he tried to sit up. A good look around and he was outside, some sort of woodsy area he wasn’t familiar with.
“Damn I got blood on my shirt?” Luke muttered after looking himself over. He tried to find a memory to explain away the blood but all he could find was sore muscles in his legs. Had he been running?
Alex’s eyes went wide, eyebrows shooting towards his hairline. His grip on Luke’s shoulder. “Your shirt? Are you fucking serious?”
“Why wou-” Luke started to form a question hoping he could figure out what he wanted to ask as the words left him. He didn’t even get to do that much as Reggie roughly pushed his shoulder. Luke gasped at the pain, “What the hell?”
“You’re so stupid.” Reggie sputtered out and shoved Luke’s shoulder again, before Alex swooped in to hold him back. “Rule number one, don’t go out alone. Never go out alone.”
Memories slowly clicked into place. The deer he’d spotted, an answer to their dwindling food supply. The uncertainty he’d ever be able to find it again coupled with a possible overconfidence in his rusty hunting ability.
Then the fear and panic as he’d stumbled too far into territory he’d never seen. The howls and whistles that signaled he wasn’t the only hunter out that night. Te grateful relief he had actually ignored rule number one and Reggie and Alex would be safe at least.
Luke was pulled from his thoughts when Reggie broke free of Alex’s grip and tackled Luke into a tight hug. A pained whine escaped him. As much as he usually appreciated hugs especially from Reggie, he was still extremely sore from his whirlwind survival adventure.
“We can’t lose you. I just got you, I won't lose you.” Reggie sobbed into Luke’s neck. Luke glanced at Alex who grimaced, before gently wrapping his own arms around the both of them.
Luke pressed a kiss he hoped came across as reassuring to the side of Reggie’s head, as he gingerly wrapped one of his sore arms around the back of his neck. He wanted so desperately to promise Reggie and Alex the world but he wasn’t sure if he could. Not with how the world currently was.
Another glance towards Alex and Luke could see, he shared in his hesitation. Alex leaned in and pressed a gentle kiss to Luke’s forehead and then to the top of Reggie’s head. Luke’s hand moved to pat the back of Reggie’s head with what little strength he had left in his arm.
“I’m right here, Reggie. Alex and I are both still right here.” It was the best Luke could give.

Can You Hear Them on the Breeze, Those Souls That Rock Amongst the Trees (Oneshot) AO3/Tumblr
An urban legend that exists in Los Feliz is the Hawke Park Band. If you go to the park’s amphitheater after the park has closed at 10:30pm, there is a chance you might hear music.  It’s always rock, and there is no explanation for it. Countless people have crawled every inch of that space, unable to locate any speakers that could explain the phenomenon. The other part of the legend is that any musician that hears this music goes on to have a successful career in music. It’s this part that started the tradition of Los Feliz High’s music program students sneaking in right before summer ends each year, to hopefully hear the music that could make their dreams come true.
Julie grew up with this myth. Hawke Park is haunted. She believed it firmly as a kid, but now as a teen, she knows that ghosts don’t exist. Probably. Because if they did, wouldn’t her mom… No, they don’t exist. So could someone explain to her why she's currently sneaking in with Flynn?

Dating Luke Patterson
Tumblr media
Luke Patterson x reader
World count: 3.8k (yes, for a headcanon, let’s not talk about it. Or is this normal? Idk.)
A/N: I made this WAY too long but hopefully you can think of this as your ultimate guide because of it, enjoy!
-
-
• Luke is a VERY affectionate and loving boyfriend, both physically and emotionally.
• Physically:
- This boy would want to touch you anywhere and everywhere and be around you all the time.
- He’d caress your face, stand behind you and rub your shoulders and arms, hug your waist or shoulders from behind, play with your hair, fidget with your bracelets or whatever accessories you’d have on, play with your hands, have his hand on the center of your back...
- Even if he saw an eyelash on your face he wouldn’t hesitate to get it for you instead of telling you about it.
- Anyway to touch you, he’d go for it.
- He’d like to kiss your nose or your forehead when he says goodbye to you.
- When you’re alone he’d like Eskimo kisses.
- He just basks in being in your presence.
- Whether you liked to receive / give physical affection or not, you always have to remember to be a little extra affectionate with him because he really enjoys it.
- He likes knowing you’re there and that you care. He does that for everyone else, so if you do it, he’d really appreciate it.
- He likes the lingering touches the best, like intertwining your fingers together, or when you play with his hair (even though sometimes he doesn’t want it to get messed up), or you rubbing his shoulders like he does to you.
• Emotionally:
- He would be your number one supporter.
- He’d push to try new things or to speak your mind even if you’re afraid.
- He’d compliment you all the time. Saying that the band would be hopeless without you, or by telling you how beautiful he thinks you are, or how talented you are, or by marveling at your artistic or scholastic accomplishments.
- Tell you uplifting stories or give you words of encouragement when you’re feeling down.
• You love that he’s always so smiley and how his nose crinkles and eyes get all squinty when he’s cheesin’ hard.
• You think he’s sunshine personified by the way he is able to brighten up not only your day, but everyone’s day.
• He thinks you’re an angel because of the way you lighten up everyone’s life. Not to mention how you are the first to help, listen, or give advice to anyone in the band.
• Before you start dating, his heart would beat frantically when he saw you.
• After you’re together though, that would fade, but not because the excitement he feels when you’re around would go away, but because you’d become his safe place. Knowing that the person he could confide to always was around would bring a warm and content feeling all around him.
• Luke would be a romantic. We see this because of the way he always sees the bigger picture by constantly looking on the brighter side of things and by the way he writes poetry within his song lyrics, so he would treat your relationship the same way. He’d write you notes or make the band throw you a private concert or play an acoustic cover or original song just for you.
• He’d let you wear his chains or bracelets from time to time or you’d steal them.
• You’d like to play with the rings on his hand.
• You would probably get him some rings or chains to add to his collection.
• Getting a reaction out of you is his favorite thing.
• No matter how far into your relationship you are he’d still like to flirt in order to make your blush.
• If you were a writer / singer / musician he would ask you what you think of some lyrics he’s written or is thinking about writing down, but even if you weren’t, he would ask you anyways because he values your opinions and ideas.
• He either let you take or you’d steal some of his band tees. He’d get major heart eyes seeing you in them. Thinking you looked gorgeous in. his. clothes.
• He’d always give you a wink when he was on stage and saw you in the crowd or backstage.
• If you didn’t know how to play an instrument, he would want to teach you to play guitar. He just wants to share his passion.
• He’d introduce you to music you’d never listened to and you’d introduce him to 2000s + recent stuff that you think he’d like.
• When he’s in your room he’s be so nosy and look through all your stuff, but honestly, when you were in his room (if this was 90s) you’d do the same (he’d have so many CDs and other weird interesting stuff.)
Dating Ghost!Luke:
• So you can see him!
• Maybe you’re Julie’s close friend or sibling.
• You’d really enjoy that you and Julie get to have such special friendships with all three of the guys.
• Perhaps you’d never had a sense of belonging like that, and now you had a group of people you could always rely on to be there for you and understand you.
• I think it would make you and Julie closer.
• Luke would obviously be a goner for you right when he saw your face, but since he just loves to be close to everyone you couldn’t tell.
• You’d probably think if he had a crush on anyone it was Julie because of how great they look when they sing together despite how sweetly or flirtatiously he would talk to you.
• You’d just assume he was like that with everyone.
• Julie, Alex, and Reggie would see how much he liked you though.
• You and Julie would teach the guys about the internet, different innovations, etc.
• Luke’s way of getting to talk to you more, other than pestering you with questions about yourself, would definitely be asking you about how to do this and that online, or just to talk to you about how things have changed so you can put it into perspective for him.
• He’d really like listening to your voice. He would hang onto every word.
• And you really liked his voice too, both singing and speaking, so whatever questions he asked you, you would always forward them back to him. You liked how passionately he spoke about everything. You also, hung onto every word.
• If you couldn’t touch, despite knowing that there was obviously more than friendship going on between the two of you, you’d be reluctant to tell each other of your feelings.
• When the truth comes out however you decide to make it work.
• But if you could touch, Luke would of course be the happiest guy on Earth and never let go of you.
• The band remembers to give you guys alone time in the garage or in Julie’s / your room sometimes, so you can just speak freely with him.
• But you guys also take walks on the beach or the park while you pretend you're on the  phone or have your headphones in so you can have a change of scenery.
• You would be the glue of the group / band.
• If you weren’t a part of the band (like singing / playing an instrument specifically) it would probably be easiest for you to see their band spats in an unbiased and reasonable manner.
• You’d make sure to ask Alex how he’s doing because you know he’s always got something on his mind, but doesn’t always share unless asked.
• You’d make sure to always find something fun to do with Reggie from time to time, or just start up a conversation with him about mundane things.
• You see how he likes to watch Ray and Carlos all the time, so you wonder if maybe he just wants some kind of familial connection, and you decide that it’ll be you.
• I think he’d appreciate how you take the time to ask him questions and listen to his answers seriously, despite how he says things in such a humorous tone, and you’d appreciate how surprisingly observant he is (e.g. he noticed Ray was worried about Julie by how he had been stress eating all week. Reggie is a sweet boy who cares, guys.)
• You realize you both have hidden traits that no one gives you credit for except each other.
• Luke would like how you had a unique relationship with everyone and truly put in the effort to make sure each one is personalized between you and that person. It reminded him of himself— Always trying to give a little love to everyone — It would make him that much more fond of you.
• You’d settle arguments between the guys.
• Or maybe even little arguments between Julie and Luke. Although neither could stay mad at each other for long (honestly being “mad” at each other wouldn’t even be the word), but sometimes they took opposing sides to different situations like where to add a certain verse or about a poor decision Julie felt the guys made (like haunting Bobby or going to Caleb’s), so you’d be there to give an outside opinion or to calm the heated moments.
• He’d like to stare at you whenever he could. When you were in the garage talking to Julie or Flynn or if it’s 90s!Luke he’d do it in class or in the hallways.
• Either Julie or Alex would say he’s a creep for staring but Luke would say he’s just admiring.
• Little did he know you did the same.
• And now, speaking of 90s Luke...
Dating Alive!Luke:
• Okay, so we’re in the 90s and he’s in high school.
• He either met you because you share a class together and he thought you were pretty (and you thought he was beautiful, of course) or you and Alex shared a class together and he befriended you.
• Let’s say it’s Alex: you guys would bond over the fact that presentations are stupid and only done to make people feel uncomfortable and ultimately humiliate themselves.
• When Alex didn’t have a class with Reggie and or Luke he’d feel lonely but if you were there, you could now be a person he could go to, so you two could be lonely together.
• Even if you guys didn’t have much in common the fact that you were easy to talk to, always decided to be partners with him, or help each other out in class gave him comfort, so maybe one day he’d ask you to sit with him at lunch or see a gig his band managed to get.
• You go (You can choose which, I’m making it a choose your own adventure for about a whole second. Enjoy.) and boom enter Luke and his sunshine eyes, pretty hair, GORGEOUS arms, a muscle tee, along with his classic vans and you’re like , WHOA, but you try to hide it.
• And Luke is like, WHOA, but he tries to hide it.
• And Alex is like, “Of course.”
• And Reggie is like, “Hi I’m Reggie. We’re Sunset Curve, tell you friends.”
• And you’re like, “But I don’t have (m)any friends.”
• And Alex is like, “That’s okay I only have three (3) friends and before that I had none!”
• And Luke is like, “I’ll be your friend 👀”
• And Reggie is like, “By the way he’s looking at you, I think he wants to be more than just ‘friends’ 😏😉”
• And Luke is like, “🤡”
• And Alex is like, “🤡”
• And Reggie is like, “🤠?”
• And you’re like, *internally SCREAMING*
• Here comes that mutual pining.
• Alex starts to bring you around more often which helps you to get closer to all three of them, but especially Luke, who will ask you a series of never ending questions about yourself.
• You think Luke is just really nice and that's why he's so friendly when you’re around, but in actuality he just wants to know all about you.
• Alex and Reggie would bother him about it when you’re not around.
• One day, after he just couldn’t take it anymore he’d finally ask you out, or just kisses you unexpectedly because Luke acts before he thinks sometimes.
• The rest is history.
• Anyway...
• He’s a sweetie and probably wouldn’t really talk crap about teachers, but I know he’s not into school either.
• That being said: he’d totally get you to skip one day or quite a few days if he gets you to agree saying “please, please, please,” or telling you that you can afford to miss because you’re so much smarter than him, or just giving you so many kisses you can’t think straight.
• Skipping activities would include:
- Finding some random coffeehouse for him and the band to play impromptu while you watch.
- Adventures in the park or woods: he’s find a grassy place and sing songs to you on his guitar or you’d do something silly like play tag because Luke is a child.
- Sit on the trunk of Alex or Reggie’s car (let's say one of them has one) and have a quick make out session or just talks out life (probably his parental issues) it depends on how he’s feeling that day.
- Or finally, you guys would explore around the school and find rooms you’d never been in or see what the back of the auditorium looked like for the first time. If you guys ever get caught he’d either tell you to hide or run or find some way to get you out of it. He would take full blame, never wanting to get you in trouble.
• Once again, being the romantic he is, he’d probably take you to your first concert, write you cards, come by your locker after every period, take you out on weekends or weekdays whenever he could.
• He’d try to be a gentleman in front of your parents, really wanting them to like him, and he’d try to respect your curfew if you had one, but sometimes he would like to be rebellious (e.g. when he tells Julie to sneak out the window for their first gig) and try to get you to sneak out, especially if it was for something really special he planned. Ex. a moonlight serenade. But again, sometimes this boy doesn’t think, so he’d probably just get you to come out so you could kiss, or talk, or talk and kiss.
• All around, you guys would just have a blast together because Luke’s mission is to bring joy to your life.
• He genuinely loves seeing people happy and if you two were in a relationship, your happiness would definitely be a top top top priority.
• He would burn you CDs.
• He’d love to listen to them with you because he just loves sharing music with you and he just wants to see your reactions right then and there.
• He’s introduce you to new things and you would talk for hours about music you both liked or movies you loved.
• He’d like to hold your hand in the halls.
• Send you notes in class or even throw them at you or if you were sitting too far apart.
• He’d even tell someone to tell you he had something to say. Down the chain his call would go till the last person closest to you tells you that Luke is asking for you. You’d look and all he’d say is “hi” with the goofiest smile.
• You’d either have no choice but to smile back because of how infectious he is, or if you had enough willpower, you’d roll your eyes and look away. If the latter, he would try again and again till he got you to give in.
• He’d mimic or make faces when the teacher or a classmate said something stupid.
• He’s a little needy that way. He just wants your attention and affection.
• Again, he’d do anything to see you smile and equally as important, bothering you is the only joy he gets out of class whenever he’s not in a class with the guys.
• You’d proofread his essays or any writing that was for any type of English class because when he’s really feeling up to it, he actually puts in effort in his writing assignments.
• You tell him that he’s a good writer and that if the band thing doesn’t work out he could always become a music / poetry teacher.
• “Too bad the band thing is going to work out,” he’d assure you.
• You believed him, but you always just want to let him know he has far more talents than what he, or his teachers, for that matter give him credit for.
• Despite his major confidence in his musical abilities he feels like he falls short in other aspects, something you were surprised to learn about him, so you do your best to compliment him and encourage him.
• But especially in school since he already thinks of it in such low standards.
• When his parents fight with him about the band, you're his safe space. Sometimes he doesn’t like to tell Alex and Reggie about all the gritty details because they have family issues too, but he can always vent to you.
• You like hanging out in his room. His personality is written all over it. Band posters, movie posters, ideas for songs as well as song lyrics he loves taped up to the wall on scrap pieces of paper and sticky notes, it’s a little messy but it’s mostly just clothes and crumpled paper on the floor.
• Unfortunately, you don’t hang there too much because Luke doesn’t always like being around his parents.
• His parents like you though and enjoy when you’re around the house because it means Luke is actually around too.
• They know you encourage him at school and his mother specifically knows he needs that extra support and appreciates you for it.
• She’s told you that she wishes she could show Luke that she wants to give him that, but sometimes Luke gets too preoccupied with his music and has the notion that just because she is concerned about his career choice that she is totally against him.
• Speaking of that, despite how much Luke loves being your boyfriend and tries his best to show you how much he loves you, he’s not always perfect.
• Sometimes music and the band comes between you two as well.
• When he’s really driven on a song idea, whether it be working on the lyrics to a song, composing the music to it , rehearsing it with the band, etc., it will take all his attention.
• When he gets a fixation on something, he can be very single minded.
• All he’ll want to do is be with his thoughts and guitar or with the band that he forgets to check in with you.
• Once you tell him though, he will feel terrible about it. Not seeing how his passion can make him so blind at times.
• “I just get really into it, you know? I’m sorry! I can make it up to you.” His bottom lip would jut out and his eyes would drop dopily. He always looked like such a puppy, you could stay mad for long.
• “How are you going to prove you’re really sorry?” you’d ask knowing this wasn’t the first nor will it be the last time he gets “really into” his music.
• “I’m dropping everything today. It’s just you and me. Promise.” And he’d mean it.
• When Luke knows he’s at fault he will always try 110% to make it right. He doesn’t like it when he hurts people, especially you. He feels like he’s failed in a way.
• He’d show you new snippets of new songs he’s working on.
• You guys would talk endlessly about favorite bands and he would introduce you to ones you’d never heard before.
• You liked when he talked about his favorite musicians. Seeing someone talk passionately about something they loved was always beautiful to witness, but when Luke did it, it was next level.
• He’d literally buzz everywhere, talk super fast, and bounce around. He vibrates happiness and those are the moments where you knew for sure why he was so determined on his goals to make the band work. The love he has is so intense, so undeniable, so unbreakable. You hoped you could find something you loved like that one day. Other than him, of course.
• Oh, wait? Is that how you figure out you love him? For his passionate and brave spirit that did nothing but put a smile on your face all day, everyday? You couldn’t even compute the thought. It felt right, of course, but it was scary.
• You didn’t tell him. I think he’d say I love you first anyway and you’d happily say it back, finally releasing the beautiful realization you held inside for so long.
• He’d want you to go to every gig they got.
• “I can’t do it without you,” he’d say.
• Sometimes he knew you couldn’t though, because he and the band would only get slots in the middle of the night sometimes, or they’d do all-nighters around the city playing on the outsides of clubs just to get noticed.
• Sometimes they would get in trouble, or even ban from some places and he didn’t want you to be a part of that. He’d tell you that he wants you to get your sleep.
• But if it was the weekend, or the summer, or just a day you decided you have the time to be rebellious, you’d love to cheer them on, or maybe you would even be the getaway driver when workers would try to kick them out.
• You’d help Luke and the boys with their homework or school work a lot.
• Whether you were smart or an average student they’d think you were a genius and appreciate how you remind them of assignment deadlines from the classes you’d share. They only went to school to spend time together and outside of school was for music, so they’d probably fail without you.
• Luke would be the first to thank you every time.
• You would be there for him when he ran away. You’d tell him that maybe he should go back and talk to his parents or that maybe it would be best to at least finish high school, but he dismisses both as options immediately, saying that he knows what he wants. That school nor his parents are going to give it to him, so why bother.
• You support him and believe in his dream, but you still worry from time to time. You decide that it's his choice and that you love him, so you just make sure that he is eating, sleeping, and that you’re there for him if he needs someone to talk to or just someone to hug.
Now back to the general stuff:
• He’d give you a nickname. Personally, I think he’d try to shorten your name in some way that hopefully no one else calls you yet so he can feel special.
• Alex and Reggie would probably start calling you by that nickname sometimes too soon after that.
• As for usual nicknames, I think sometimes when he greets you he’d call you “beautiful”
•  “Hey beautiful, how you doin’?” Lets pretend that he watched the first season of Friends in ‘94 and then watched the rest on your laptop after he comes back and be obsessed like Charlie.
• He’d make your laugh a lot. Sometimes because he’s flirty or silly but other times it was because he could just be really dumb (in a sweet way, of course.)
• You would wonder why everyone would call Reggie the clueless one. It seemed like all the guys shared one braincell and Alex just hogged it most of the time.
• He’d love kissing. I don’t think he’d do full on make outs in the halls or in front of the band (not because he's shy though), but when you two were alone, in the garage or in each other's rooms he would be so down, there is no stopping him, and he’d try to make them last as long as he could.
• He would ask for good luck kisses before a show just to get you to touch him, as always.
• When you saw him shirtless for the first time your breath would be taken away. You knew he was probably toned because those sleeveless tees but you still couldn’t predict just how GORGEOUS and HOT he would look, whew.
• He’s probably get cocky for a second because of your speechless reaction.
• But that confidence would go right out the door whenever he saw you without a shirt, his eyes would be blown, totally star struck.
• He’d like to cuddle or rest his head on your lap, especially when he needs to relax from the stress he’s feeling due to his home life or from writing. You’d gently stroke his hair. It would soothe him.
• He’d also like it when you rest your head on his lap too. In those moments, he would take it as full permission to touch you and kiss you up, no complaints.
• Overall, Luke would just love you up and write you pretty songs forever and ever. Best boyfriend.

Let’s get you out of these wet clothes
Prompt from an old @innytoes prompt list
Their “cool teleportation skills” had gotten a little unpredictable and sometimes Luke and Reggie thought it would be fun to test their limits. Unfortunately these tests also usually came with an important “forgot to think things through” component that often left Julie and Alex cleaning up after… something. Today was no exception.
Of course leaving the two anxious band members behind was also a recipe for disaster. So they had a system. They were allowed to start worrying after a certain amount of time had passed or if a third person was present and also starting to worry. Today was again, no exception.
Julie and Alex were watching the clock, only minutes away from their predetermined worrying-permissible time (no, counting down to it doesn't count as worrying). Luke and Reggie had disappeared a while ago and shortly after, it had started raining. Heavily. And it hadn’t stopped. As was usually the case, they hadn’t disclosed their plans ahead of time, generally opting on adventure-filled chaos when they got up to whatever they got up to when they left their brain cell at home.
Alex and Julie hear a sudden crash just outside the studio and run to the doors, pushing them open in hopes that their bandmates had appeared and were met with what could only be described as two drowned puppies.
Alex drags them both into the studio while Julie runs to the bathroom to grab towels.
“What the hell is wrong with you?” Alex chastises them once the doors are closed.
Julie throws towels at each of them and drapes another one around their shoulders. Their teeth are chattering and goosebumps line every bit of exposed skin. She’s about to start helping dry them off when she stops.
“Wait. No. Hold on,” she works through her thoughts and then turns her attention back to the boys. “Let’s get you out of these wet clothes and then warm showers.”
“J-j-j-julie,” Luke tries to protest and she rolls her eyes.
“It’s nothing I haven’t seen before, can it. Let’s go.”
Her and Alex help the boys undress down to their boxers, leaving the sopping wet clothes in a pile by the door. They both wrap up in towels and head to the back of the studio.
“Who’s idea was it this time?” Alex asks and at Reggie’s sheepish look, he turns his attention to Luke. “You’re first but be quick.” He shakes his head in dismay. “You two are going to get yourselves sick.”
Luke closes the bathroom door behind him and turns on the shower.
“W-w-w-we just w-w–w-wanted to get… b-b-b-but then we couldn’t get h-h-h-home,” Reggie manages to stutter out through his chattering teeth.
“Dude, save your energy.” Alex tells him, going to grab clean clothes for Luke and setting them just inside the door for him.
Luke follows directions for what may be the first time in his life and finishes his shower quickly, allowing Reggie the opportunity to warm up.
“What were you thinking?” Alex asks once Reggie is in the shower.
“We just wanted to get a nice thing for Julie but then we couldn’t poof home and had to walk.”
“Awww, thanks, Luke!” Julie beams at him and he grins at her.
Alex rolls his eyes. “How far did you go this time?”
Luke’s hand comes up to rub the back of his neck. “Uhhh, the pier?”
“Dude! You can’t keep going that far without telling us!”
He looks sheepish, “I know. I’m sorry.”
“So? What nice thing did you get?” Alex asks.
Luke looks up at him confused.
“For Julie? What did you get her?”
“Oh. They were closed. For the rain.”
Julie laughs as Alex groans as he shakes his head. “You two are fucking idiots.”

Window
Fandom: Julie and the Phantoms
Pairing: Luke Patterson X Alive!Female! Reader
Requested: Yes, @charliegillespiewife
A/N: so sorry it took me a while to get this out, I hope you enjoy it, though!! One of these days, I might write something happy for Luke. I might go back and add a gif later, they weren't loading for me! Lyrics are Window by MAGIC GIANT.
-----------
90's
Luke sat in Bobby's garage, scribbling away in his songbook. You kind of figured that's where he'd be. He's always got that little book open in front of him when he's not busy.
You cleared your throat, trying to gain his attention. As soon as he looked up at you and processed who you were, he slammed the little book shut, gaining your interest.
"What's in there that you're hiding from me, Lukey?" you asked, a teasing lilt in your voice. Red spread across his face and he looked down at the book. The flustered attitude and silence following your question was an unusual response to gain from your usually confident and boisterous significant other. It made you a little worried. You sat down next to him, leaning bodily into his side.
"You'll find out soon enough, Y/N," Luke hummed, dropping a soft kiss on your forehead. You hummed softly, leaning up to get a proper kiss from him.
"If you say so, love." You sat up to let Luke stand, and winced when his back popped loudly as he streached. "Are you excited for tonight?"
He turned to look down at you, a large grin plastered on his face. " Of course I am. After tonight, everything is going to change." Luke and his band, Sunset Curve, had finally gotten the biggest gig of their career so far performing at the Orpheum. They had all been ecstatic for it, Luke especially. He felt like this was finally their chance and that they were finally going to be able to get their names out there.
The short silence that followed your question was broken by the rest of the band barging in. They were all ready to get the equipment loaded and taken over to the Orpheum.
After the successful soundcheck you watched with Luke and Alex as Bobby and Reggie chatted up one of the employees at the club. Luke interfered for a little bit, before suggesting street dogs. He looked at you after Reggie and Alex agreed, and you shook your head.
You wanted to stay behind and make sure that everything was ready for the rest of the night, and Bobby wanted to stay and see if he couldn't get any farther with Rose. You waved goodbye to Alex and Reggie, and pressed a kiss to Luke's lips, begging him to stay safe. Little did you know this would be the last time you would see him.
Present
Julie was looking over a song in Luke’s book, going over it in her head. It was one that Luke had brought to her attention. He thought that it would be good for them to perform at their next gig, and so far, Julie agreed. When she shifted positions, a picture and a folded out piece of paper fell out of the book, gaining her attention as well. It was of Luke and a girl. Her arm was outstretched, holding the camera to be able to take the picture of her and Luke. She had her eyes closed, but Luke was looking at her with so much love.
Julie unfolded the piece of paper, finding it was a song. She felt bad for snooping for all of a moment. She jumped when the paper was pulled from her hands, looking up to see a less than enthusiastic Luke.
He had poofed into the garage quietly, wanting to ask Julie a question, but he froze when he saw the picture in her hand. He still remembered that day, vividly.
“Luke!” you called happily to him, holding the polaroid camera up for him to see. “Come take a picture with me!” Your smile made it hard for him to say no, so he crossed the room to you. As you held up the camera and smiled, eyes closed, the only thing he could look at was you and your smile. When you opened your eyes to find him already looking at you, you smiled shyly.
“What?”
“Nothing.” He uttered softly, before pressing a kiss to your lips. “I love you.” You laughed softly, pecking his lips again before looking to the polaroid.
“Luke! You were looking at me!” You pouted. Luke laughed.
“I think it turned out just fine.”
“You weren’t meant to see the picture or the song.” Luke mumbled, holding his hand out. Julie passed the photo back to him.
“Who is she?”
“Just someone I used to know. I doubt she’d even remember me now.”
“What’s her name?”
“Y/N Y/L/N.”
Julie knew what she wanted to do.
Later
“Where are we, Julie?” Luke asked softly. He looked up at the house, confusion twisting his brow.
“I did some digging, and I found that she was still in town.” Julie answered. Luke was still confused until he remembered their earlier conversation.
“No!” Luke shook his head quickly. “Absolutely not.” Julie stared at him for a moment before ringing the doorbell. “Julie!”
Julie didn’t have a chance to respond before the door opened to reveal you standing there. You had clearly grown up, but he could still recognize you.
“Hi, Y/N. I’m Julie. I found an old songbook in my garage when I was cleaning one day.”
“That’s not what happened.” Julie ignored Luke’s interjection and continued on.
“And I found this picture tucked into its pages.” She held the picture out, and you took it, covering your mouth with your free hand after seeing it.
“Luke.” you breathed out softly, your eyes glazing over. You were hit with memories of the two of you together, of goofing off with the band, of being happy. You invited the girl in after a moment.
“I also found this in the book.” She said softly, once the two of you were seated on the couch. Luke hovered behind, knowing what was going on. Julie had done the same thing when she found the song for his mom. Julie held a folded piece of paper out to you, and you took it, gingerly unfolding it. ‘Window’ was scrawled across the top of it in Luke’s messy but familiar handwriting. ‘For Y/N’ followed right after.
It's 3 A.M., I hope you're home
I wanna be with you
Just let me in through the window
I had a dream we fell asleep
And woke up in ecstasy
What makes a dream come true?
No one needs to know
I will come in through the window
Oh, oh, oh I'm not leaving you alone
You could write this love in stone
I'm not leaving you alone
It's Friday night and we're alive
And lover's Lane is open wide
We'll get there when we arrive (we arrive)
Your balcony's a limousine
Your bed's a yellow submarine
Right off to the great unknown
Just let me in through the window
No one needs to know
I will come in through the window
Oh, oh, oh I'm not leaving you alone
You could write this love in stone
I'm not leaving you alone
Oh oh oh I'm not leaving you alone
You could write this love in stone…
You closed your eyes, feeling tears slide over your cheeks. Luke wished he could reach out, and wipe those tears away.
“I loved her, so much.” Luke said softly. Julie repeated the words to you, and looked at Luke. “You were the best thing to happen to me.” He continued. “You made everyday worth it. You were the reason I kept going when I felt like everything was against me. You made me strong and I loved you for it,” Julie repeated everything to you, and by the end of the small soliloquy, you were crying even harder. Julie reached out and pulled you into a hesitant hug.
“Thank you, Julie.” You sobbed softly into her shoulder. After a moment, you recollected yourself. “After he died, I never felt like I would have closure. The way things ended felt wrong to me. But you bringing me this, telling me those things, makes me feel like I can finally let go.”
“He’d want you to be happy.”
“I know.” The two of you sat and you regaled her with tales of Luke and the bands adventures in their short lives. Julie laughed along with you, enjoying hearing about them.
Luke leaned on the back of the couch, tears leaking down his face, but a smile held firmly on his face. He missed seeing the happy look that would light your eyes. He missed you. A lot.
“Thank you for that, Julie.” Luke murmured softly, once they were back in the garage. “Maybe we should have told her.”
“Maybe.” Julie looked at the picture of Luke and Y/N that she had put up on the wall. “Maybe one day we will.”

MASTERLIST
------------------------------------------------------
September
"When do we have our first interview?" you asked the boy whose head was in your lap. He looked up from his phone and your eyes locked with his green ones "Hmm, my calendar says in about 30 minutes."
You groaned at that and stopped playing with Charlie's hair which earned you a grunt and whine from him. "Sorry babe but I think I have to go, so I still have time to get ready and set up." You muttered and gave him a small kiss on his brown hair.
"Uhh fine." The weight lifted from your legs, you stood up and before you knew it you were thrown over his shoulder. Laughing, you slapped his butt and back repeatedly. "Babe! I mean it" you tried to press out between giggles, "we both decided to keep us a secret." He sat you down on the kitchen isle and cornered your body in between his arms, standing right in front of you, you're back hitting the kitchen cabinet.
"I know... come back later?" he asked and tilted his head, looking at you with big puppy eyes. "You know it." After a swift kiss, or rather a little make out session, you were on your way back to your own appartement. Just in time to change your top and put on a lip-gloss before opening your laptop and joining the interview.
"Hello everybody! I'm here with the cast of Netflix' Julie and the Phantoms that came out on Thursday. How are you guys?" the interviewer asked and smiled into the camera of his laptop. The whole cast chirped in with a good, great, or amazing.
"That's fantastic!" he clapped his hands "Now, Jeremy, how would you describe your Character and the show in general?"
"It's a show about ghosts from 1995 who come back 25 years later and join a band with Julie who didn't sing a note after her mother died. Reggie, the character that I play, is one of those ghosts and he is a loveable himbo. Did I use that word correctly Maddie?"
Maddie smiled and the interviewer changed the topic "Madison and y/n, birds have told me that this was your first ever acting job is that right?"
You nodded and signaled Maddie to speak first "Yes, and it was both amazing and traumatizing! I was so nervous, but the crew really helped to calm me down, especially y/n who just was in the same position as me, so we freaked out together most of the time." She smiled and the interviewer waited for you to answer. "Except, Maddie had a least some acting training at school, that's why she is the best. I more or less walked into the whole situation." You said laughing.
"I love this story." Jeremy exclaimed, making you slightly blush at his words.
"Would you be so kind and tell us?" the interviewer questioned and smiled at your little nod.
"Yes, yes of course. Well, I was on vacation with one of my good friends from back home..."
"She means Germany." Owen interrupted with a smile on his lips. "Yes, Owen. Thank you for adding important details. Anyways, we saw that there was an Open Audition nearby and though why not? We don't have anything to lose or to do on that particular day. And here I am, my friend sadly didn't get in."
"That really is an amazing story, I can see why Jeremy likes it so much. So, Charlie how would you describe y/n's and Luke's characters, she wasn't supposed to be in the script and was later added in right?" Charlie quirked up at the mention of your name and stated proudly. "Indeed, she impressed Kenny so much that he wrote a character just for her. He thought that Sunset Curve, the band name before we died, needed a female to handle their chaos or well... at least tries to. Y/N plays Allie, who against common speculation isn't any of the boys' love interest which is a very nice turn of events. She and Luke bud head a lot because Luke only thinks about music and the band and she tries hard to make him take breaks every now and then."
A lovesick smile sat on your face while you listened to your boyfriend of nearly a year, once you realized your expression you quickly shook it off. Hiding this relationship was definitely going to be harder than expected.
The Interviewer asked some more questions before the last and dreaded question was thrown your way. "So, most of your fans are wondering if any of you guys are in a relationship." You and Charlie had discussed a million times before what you guys would say in such a moment, the two of you shared a look.
Jeremy's eyes switched from Charlie's box on his screen to y/n's before answering "I have a lovely wife! The rest of us are happily single, right guys?"
"100%" Maddie added, while Owen only shrugged, his dog conveniently jumping into his lap.
"How about the other two?" he eyed up the last remaining.
"Very single" Charlie laughed, and you agreed "Totally."
As time went on it was harder and harder for the two of you to hide the relationship, as you two spent nearly every day together and therefore did the same activities. Particularly after your social media accounts have gained over a million followers and people started to ship actors and tv show characters. But you two loved the little secret bubble you've created, there was no pressure to take good pictures together, or to post stories, to be asked a thousand questions about your relationship and no hate towards any of you.
December
It has been 4 months since the show released and the hype it got definitely was way more than you ever expected. It blew your mind. Currently, you are on Charlie and yours one-year anniversary / Christmas / good deeds vacation. Charlie and you found a good mix, that made you both happy, between chilling and doing adventurous things.
It was Christmas eve and Maddie wanted to do a 'guess the song Christmas Edition' with the main cast. Eagerly you agreed and hurried from the beach, where Charlie currently took the quiz at the bar you both sat on just minutes before, to your shared bedroom. You shot Maddie a quick text that you were 'out of the relationship zone' and ready when she was ready.
"Helloooo. How did the others do?"
"Not the worst but I still have faith in you to win this. ARE YOU READY?" she screamed the last part.
“I’m going to read you the lyrics of a christmas song and you have to guess the next line. There are certain cards that give one point and others give two. Whoever has the most points at the end…”
“Hopefully get your earrings” you asked with a sly smile and your shoulders raised.
Maddie laughed but shook her head “Sadly, no. I haven't figured out the price yet, but I for sure will! I like your backdrop by the way.” she added and you quickly looked behind you. You sat crisscrossed on the hotel room floor, you used the coffee table and a water bottle as a phonestand and used a white checkered wall as a background to try and hide the fact that you didn't sit in your living room.
January
“This should be the last box.” you cheered into the empty hall and shut the front door with a light push from your hip. Charlie popped his head out of the bedroom and walked over to, dropping his head on your shoulder in exhaustion. Nothing was set up, boxes stood randomly all over the apartment, the fridge stood there still empty and a lonely mattress covered the bedroom floor.
“The walls look a bit bare don't you think?” you said about a week later, standing in the middle of the now a bit furnished living room. Strong arms sneaked their way around your waist and a head dropped on your shoulder.
“Hmm… you're right. What do you have in mind?” Charlie said and turned you around so you were facing him. He smiled at the spark in your eyes “I was thinking, a yellow akzent wall with random secondhand pictures and some pictures of us, all in frames of course. So it's gonna have this homey and creative atmosphere.” You rambled on for a while longer, telling him where you think his instruments could go, the pillows you saw online and thought they worked perfect with the colour of the couch. Charlie just stared at you, a dumb smile on his lips with his arms around you.
“Do you not like it?” you noticed that he hasn't talked for a while and got worried. “I love it. We could live in a dumpster for all I care, as long as I have you by my side.” You fake gaged at his romantic words and gave him a kiss.
The first time people got really suspicious was the time you accidentally walked in on a live he had on Instagram. He sat in front of his instruments, phone propped up before him. You thought that he was already finished but you were wrong.
“Do you think this…” you walked into the room, a shirt in your hand that you just took out of the dryer and lost your words the moment you saw him sitting in front of his phone. He looked at you with wide eyes, his brain clearly searching for a good excuse.
“Is that y/n?” he read outloud from the chat, gesturing you do sit next to him. “Yes it's her! We’re hanging out and she helped me with my washing because I somehow still don't know how to do it.” he laughed nervously, his hand grabbing yours out of the frame.
“He promised me food and I live really close by, so I thought I'll help this poor man out.”
May
Looking back at this moment now, you and Charlie weren't sure why you just didn't come clean. You didn't mean to hide the relationship this long, it just kinda happened and at one point it just got too awkward to tell. It was fairly easy to hide most of the time, you didn't most that much on instagram and Charlie only showed parts of his daily life.
The easiest was the time you filmed JATP Season 2. You were expected to hang out and live together. Back in 2019 you already lived with Owen and Charlie. This time poor Owen had to live with a couple instead of just two friends. (You were already dating for a while back then but didn't tell the cast, to not make a fuss.)
It wasn't like the fans didn't suspect a thing, especially after Owen posted a video of you two fooling around.
Everybody sat outside, enjoying the everwarming sun on their skin. Half of the cast was already in costume just waiting for the break to end. In typical Allie (your character) fashion you wore an overall with a tight tank top underneath, your makeup stood out from the others with the heavy blush, freckles and black eyeliner.
Charlie, in his Luke wardrobe, thought that it was funny to stand in front of you to shield you from the sun.
"Stop that" you whined and tried to shove him away, which was harder than you thought considering he stood before you and you sat on a bench.
"Make me." He flirted and stood even wider before you, puffing out his chest. Raising an unimpressed eyebrow, you stole his beany with a swift motion. His expresion quickly changed from cocky to shocked, snickering was heard from Maddie who was used to this type of behaviour.
"Ups… heavy wind blows in the shadows." You explained nonchalantly and pulled the beany on your head, sticking your tongue out at your boyfriend.
"Oh it's on my lady" he growled "I'm giving you a three second advantage. One…" your eyes widened and your heart rate picked up. "Two…" you got up and scanned the place internally making a good running line. "Th-.." you began sprinting across the lot. You heard the laughing from your castmates behind you as you and Charlie ran in circles.
Unfortunately, he was still fitter and faster than you and about a minute into the running he had you thrown over his shoulder.
"Surrender!" he screamed as you tried to wiggle out of his grip.
"Never!" You screamed back and wiggled even harder.
"Surrender or i'll have to tickle you" he warned and those were the last words Owen was able to film before a producer yelled that the break was finished.
February
“Baby, if I would believe this News Article, you have a secret girlfriend, but it's not me.” you showed him your phone screen.
“I’m not cheating on you. I would never, i'd die rather than…” his frantic expression made you snort. “I know. Oh my god! People saw you with Lia.” you held his hands comfortably.
“Lia as in your best friend Lia?”
“The one and only. People noticed the hickeys... At least they’re getting closer now. So are we still on for the masterplan? You by instruments and I'm gonna sit in the bedroom?" He nodded and smiled at the sight of your equally plastered neck.
Eventually, before you even were able to execute the as you'd like to say 'masterplan' your relationship got outed. I mean it was time, the two of you getting lazier with the hiding as time went by.
Fans noticed that you wore a lot of Charlie's things and that you and him always seemed to be at the same place at the same time. It was actually one of your lives that spilled the secret.
"That's a really nice akzent wall" you read outloud from the chat "oh thank you! It was a long process to get all the pictures but it was actually Charlie's idea to not only have pictures but also plane tickets, date memories and so on hung up on that wall. It really makes it homey. I think to get that wall this crowded it took us...what? About well since we moved in…" you didn't even realise what you said you just babbled and then it was out.
"Charlie actually is home! I could call him. Babe! Come here for a sec- oh my god!" Your hands flew up to your mouth in realizion.
From that moment on you were public and your social media exploded once again. However the two of you were happy to finally show each other off.

Back on my Willie + Furbies bullshit with a fic idea I will never write: Sunset Skater AU where the band makes it big and they have all this money that they can spend on frivolous things, which somehow ends in them each commissioning Long Furby Creator Willie.
Some of them are well intended, like the first one. Reggie wants to make Bobby Junior, his and Bobby’s child. Obviously it needs to be red and black themed, and Willie has a blast discussing options. He even makes it a little birth certificate to go with it, and swaddles it before putting it in the box to ship.
Bobby is amused, and even more so when Alex recoils, because he thinks it is terrifying.
Obviously the next time Alex really annoys him, he contacts Willie to make the pinkest, gayest, most creepy furby on the planet. Can you get fur in the colour of his hoodie, please? Yes please can it have little creepy hands. Obviously it needs rainbow tufts at the ears. Can it have a little necklace that says ‘come play with me Alex’.
Bobby hides it in Alex’ room, and Willie gets a video, clearly taken from a closet, of Alex walking in, seeing the Furby on his desk chair holding his drumsticks, and shrieking. The video cuts off when Bobby can’t hold his laughter anymore and Alex chases him all over the house.
It’s only then that he realises this is like, Sunset Curve. That’s the drummer he’s had a crush on for the past six months. That means that Reggie and Bobby weren’t just a coincidence, he’s actually been in contact with Reggie Peters and Bobby Shaw!
He sends a little ‘Dear Alex, I’m so sorry I didn’t know this was a Spite Furby, he just wants to love you, let him into your heart’ message to the official Sunset Curve Instagram. He wakes up the next day to find four new private users follow him. When he follows them back, he realises it’s the guys Finstas, the private accounts they use to be normal people (or chaos gremlins).
Reggie’s account is filled with not only cute dogs, but also Bobby Junior having Adventures around their house. Bobby’s has at least two more videos of scaring Alex with the pink Furby. It takes a bit of courage (and some ribbing from his friends about being a coward), but he starts commenting on the Furby posts. And then other ones. And the guys always comment back and heart his comments. And somehow, everything gets kind of flirty? Willie has no idea what’s going on but he’s living for it.
Luke is next, because he’s kind of jealous he doesn’t have a Long Furby now. He’s annoying to Bobby plenty!
For his birthday Bobby and Reggie team up to get him one. It comes with a little orange beanie (with gaps for the ears to stick out). They didn’t ask for that, but Willie’s seen him wear it a lot when he stalks casually looks at the guys’ Instagrams. He gets many delighted comments back. The three Longbois have a tea party on Reggie’s account. They’re found in between the remnants of Luke’s birthday party, passed out and wasted, on Bobby’s page.
Willie delights in it all. On his business account, he posts his non-custom creations, taking inspiration from the guys’ shenanigans. He even brings one of two to Caleb’s house for his monthly ‘gotta have dinner with the Uncle who took me in while he casually grills me about if I’m dating yet but hey free food’ dinner. Caleb watches amused as he wraps the Furby along the banister of the fancy stairwell in the hall. And maybe even gets a ladder so Willie can put one in the chandelier.
When he announces he’s going to be at a convention in LA on his business account, he immediately gets four hearts. He spends a lot of time making new Longbois and other creations for his booth, sometimes working deep into the night with the Sunset Curve soundtrack on.
When he looks at his latest creation, black with a flannel plaid belly, and pretty sparkly eyes, and cute little deer horns and a little cowboy hat accessory, he thinks: oh no.
Because that Furby is clearly for Reggie.
He almost doesn’t take it with him, but well, he needs stuff to fill out his booth. He wraps the Reggie Furby along the bar that holds up his backdrop, hoping nobody will ask him if it’s for sale.
He’s doing alright, selling mostly his smaller pieces, artwork, and furby inspired jewelry, though someone dressed up as Miss Frizzle does purchase the galaxy inspired long Furby he made. She leaves with it draped over her shoulders, and he passes her some extra cards just in case.
And then it happens. What he’d been fearing, dreaming about. From up ahead, he heard a familiar voice say: “Oh my god there it is!”
Sunset Curve had come to the convention. Most of them were in costume, Han Solo and Luke Skywalker and Poe Dameron... and Alex, though his familiar pink hoodie was swapped out with a Baby Yoda t-shirt and jean jacket. Willie didn’t miss how he was using Reggie as a human shield, put between him and the furbies.
“Uh, hi!” he says, trying and failing to be casual. “It’s so nice to meet you in person.”
They talk, he shows off some of his wares. Alex even comes closer to look at some of the non-Furby art Willie is selling, when Reggie’s eyes wander up and he gasps.
“Guys,” he whispers, pointing. “It’s perfect.”
They look up and oh no, there it is. They’ve spotted the Reggie Furby. Willie feels his cheeks flame, but he can’t very well look away. “I ah... maybe made him with you in mind,” he admits. “Not that you have to buy him! I mean I just... I was listening to your album while working and it just happened and...”
A giant wad of cash is slammed on the table, Reggie making grabby hands until Willie unwraps the Furby from the stand and hands it over. He tries to argue that it wasn’t a custom job, so the price is actually lower, but Reggie doesn’t listen, cuddling the Furby close.
“Well,” Bobby sighs dramatically. “If you feel that bad about it, maybe you should just take us out on a date to make up for it.”

Butterfly Kisses - Little!Reggie & Bobby
context: bobby is little!reggie’s main caregiver, but when reggie isnt little they’re dating :) reggie is mentally about 3 here
“Reg, are you in here?” Bobby called, eyes scanning his bedroom for his boyfriend. Reggie had run off when Bobby and Luke had gotten into an argument during band rehearsal, and now Bobby couldn’t find him anywhere.
“No.” A small voice said from the corner, and Bobby’s worries eased instantly. He stepped forward, peering into the corner next to his bed and was met with the sight of Reggie curled into a ball, Bobby’s old teddy clutched in his arms.
So that’s why he was hiding. Reggie was little.
“Hey.” Bobby’s tone was soft. “You okay baby boy?”
Reggie shook his head, eyes wide.
“Scary.” He mumbled. Bobby made his way over slowly, lowering himself to the ground in front of Reggie. Reggie hesitated for a moment, before moving into Bobby’s lap, snuggling into the taller boy.
“I’ve got you baby, no one can hurt you now.” Bobby reassured him. “I’m sorry Luke and I got grumpy with each other. I didn’t realise you were struggling to stay big.”
“Is okay.” Reggie’s voice was muffled by Bobby’s shoulder. Bobby let out a small sigh, holding Reggie close to him, hoping to soothe the little.
“Do you need anything?” Bobby asked eventually. Reggie hesitated.
“Butterfly kisses?” He mumbled. Bobby smiled, a smile that was reserved for little Reggie only.
“Of course angel.” He answered, moving so that his lashes brushed against Reggie’s cheek in a butterfly kiss. Reggie grinned, moving back to Bobby’s shoulder, and they sat in silence until eventually Reggie wriggled around, a deep sigh leaving his lips.
“You back with me?” Bobby mumbled. Reggie nodded.
“Thank you.” He said softly, placing a gentle kiss to Bobby’s lips. Bobby smiled into the kiss.
“Anytime.”

for the touch prompts: kissing the other’s brow :)
hello! apologies in advance - this was supposed to be short and sweet, but instead it's rambly and unnecessarily longer than what I had in mind. Hope you like it tho!
----
Luke tugged her forward, leading her away from his car and up the path towards his apartment building. Julie followed, her steps heavy and reluctant.
When he had first told her about today, when he had brought up the idea, and then officially invited her, Julie had been ecstatic. The boy she had grown to love in such a short period of time was finally inviting her to meet two of the most important people in his life. He had spoken about them a fair amount in the few weeks that they had gotten to know each other, and Julie already felt like she knew them. She could even say she had grown to love them simply through the way Luke spoke about them. He would be telling her stories about their 'adventures' and the affection he felt for his chosen family leaked out freely for everyone to see and hear. She had gotten to know and care for these boys without ever having met them -- and now she was finally on her way to meet them face to face.
But as the excitement settled in, the nerves and anxiety had gone into overdrive. The significance of this milestone had registered, and although Julie was extremely happy to know that her and Luke were on the same page when it came to their relationship, she had realised how important these boys' opinions of her were going to be.
She had loved them from the moment Luke started talking about them, accepting them as a package deal when it came to Luke. But what if the boys were to meet her and be underwhelmed? What if they thought she wasn't a good fit? Deemed her unworthy of Luke's love and time?
Julie didn't doubt her relationship with Luke, no matter how short a time it had been since they met -- but she knew how important it was to have your family's blessing and support. And no matter how hard she tried to convince herself that there was no reason for the boys to dislike her, she was scared.
And nervous. And nauseous.
And Luke's apartment building door was getting closer and closer and her heart was beating faster and faster, getting louder by the second.
Julie took in a deep breath as she tried to calm herself, quell the nausea slowly creeping up her throat. But she must have been louder than she thought, because suddenly Luke was slowing his pace, turning towards her with a concerned look on his face.
Coming to a stop, he squeezed her hand as he ducked his face to get a better look at her. His thumb stroked soothing circles on the back of her hand before he spoke up.
"Hey, you okay?"
Julie struggled to keep eye contact with him as she forced a smile onto her lips.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." She cleared her throat, dislodging the lump that had appeared. "Why do you ask?"
The crease in his brows got more pronounced as he took her in, his eyes roaming her face. Apparently she hadn't been successful at hiding her feelings from him.
He released his hold on her hand, her hand falling to her side as he lifted his to gently cradle her cheeks. She felt his thumbs swipe across her cheeks, the repetitive movement momentarily calming the storm in her stomach.
"Julie, if you're not feeling well we can just reschedule, the guys will understand-"
"No!" She quickly cut him off, shaking her head, not wanting to flake on Reggie & Alex or disappoint anyone in the process. "No that's- I'm fine Luke, really. I just..." Julie trailed off, her eyes wandering from his eyes to somewhere above his shoulder as she tried to think of the right words.
"I'm just a little nervous," she finally admitted, her voice sounding small.
She heard him chuckle at her words, her eyes flying back to his, hurt that he would laugh at her admission.
"No- I'm sorry, I swear I'm not laughing at you!" He stopped laughing just as quickly, his face taking on a more serious expression. "I- I sensed something was off with you but I didn't want to ask...And then I thought that maybe you didn't want to meet the boys, or thought I was rushing things and I was worried." Luke shrugged, his fingers migrating from her cheeks to her neck. He pulled her closer towards him, his lips coming to rest on her forehead. She felt his breath tickling her skin as he continued to speak.
"Jules, there's nothing to be nervous about. The boys know everything there is to know about you - trust me when I say I don't shut up about you." He pulled back just enough to look at her again. "They've been asking to meet you for ages - pretty sure Reggie already likes you more than he likes me." He smiled at her at his words, a small breathless laugh slipping out of her.
"Really," he pulled her forward again, his lips coming to rest in the space between her brows. "Nothing," he uttered, kissing her frown away, before moving to her right brow, placing another kiss. "To worry," his voice grew quieter as he moved to her left brow, his lips brushing against her skin. "About." He pressed his lips to her brow, before pulling away to look at her.
His ministrations must have worked on her, because she could see a smile stretching out across his face.
"They're going to love you. I've never been as sure about something as I am about this. Trust me."
And how could she not?
At her responding smile Luke's grin becomes blinding, but Julie only has a second to drink it in before he dives in, claiming her lips as his with a sweet kiss.
She could do this. As long as he was by her side, she could do anything.
the end..?

"Hey! Can I make pies with you?" A voice chirps.
Luke looks up from his serious work, sweat building on his forehead, and meets the eyes of a girl from his classroom. She's Julie, he thinks, though it could also be Flynn or Thea or Penny. They all sit together.
"It's chocolate," he explains, digging his fingers in the mud. "Do you like chocolate?"
"I love chocolate!" she yells, collapsing in the sandbox beside him and tucking her cloud of curls behind her ears.
Their jeans are stained and their elbows are scratched, but by the end of recess, they've baked about a dozen different cakes and have 'tried' a few as well.
"My mom makes the best cakes," she babbles as the bell rings, the two sauntering to the spot Miss Bloom would be waiting. "Like, real cakes, and I help her."
"That's cool." He stuffs his tiny hands in the pockets of his jeans. "I like cake too. My mom doesn't make it though."
"Then how do you know you like cake?"
"We buy it from the store, duh!" he laughs. "My favourite's confetti cake."
She hums in agreement. "I like peanut butter cherry a lot."
He gawks. "Whoa! That sounds crazy!"
"Do you wanna try a slice sometime?"
They go to stand in line with the other kids of their class, Miss Bloom counting their heads.
"Sure!"
The class goes to the zoo the next week, and Luke and Julie stick together as newly formed best friends. She holds his hand when he's scared of the zebras, and he helps her stand a little higher on the gate to get a better look at the llamas.
She, Flynn and Luke make the biggest collage of pictures and drawings the class had ever seen.
She feigns reading his hand and tells him his future is bright, a word that sticks with him and starts using for the rest of year.
She also tells him they'll be best friends forever and it gains her the biggest hug in the world.
Second grade ends and all of her friends go to her house to eat peanut butter cherry pie and listen to music in the garden as they play games.
She links pinkies with Luke at the end of night. "Friends forever?"
He grins, missing a front tooth. "Forever and more!"
"Reggie's parents are fighting," Luke quips, both of them upside down on the monkey bars.
Julie looks at him. His face is turning red. She wonders if she looks the same right now. "Fighting? Like, yelling ?"
"I don't know." He tries to shrug but his arms just flop around. "He just says they're fighting. Maybe they'll get a DJ."
Her nose curls up. "A DJ?"
"A DJ... like when moms and dads aren't together anymore."
She giggles. "A divorce, silly!"
Alex and Reggie trudge to their spot on the playground and mount themselves on the monkey bars.
"What are we taking about?" Reggie asks.
Alex pouts. "I don't wanna go upside down. What if I fall?"
"I've fallen and I'm still alive," Luke counters.
Alex shrugs and sits on the bars, but doesn't drop upside down. He can still listen like this.
"About your parents," Julie says, "about fighting."
Reggie makes a face. "I just don't like it. Like, I'm loud, but they're loud!"
Luke makes a noise of excitement, not unlike a strangled animal. He puffs, hoisting himself up. The rest follows and suddenly Alex isn't alone.
"Let's do a sleepover!" he exclaims. "My house!"
Everyone hollers and agrees. Julie raises her hand. "Can Flynn come too?"
"Why?"
"Because Flynn is fun and my best friend too!"
Alex smiles. "I like her too."
Reggie wiggles his brows. "Like like?"
"Ew, no!"
"So?" Julie stresses, looking at Luke.
He shrugs. "Sure. She can come too."
They're ten when Luke yells, "Ew, no, I don't like Julie!"
The girl in question who had been making their way to the group of boys, ready to ask Luke, Alex and Reg to play, balks at his exclaim. He doesn't like her? But they're best friends!
Hurt and offended, she stomps the last few meters and yells his name.
"Luke!"
He turns around in surprise. "Jules!"
"What do you mean you don't like me?!"
All the boys start laughing and snickering, muffling their mouths or blatantly pointing at her. She crosses her arms. Boys are so stupid!
"I don't!" he rushes.
"WHAT?!"
"I don't like like you," he clarifies, annoyed by the boys.
She stops for a moment. "Well, duh."
"Ya see," Luke grins, "Julie and I are just tight, okay?"
Bobby shrugs. "Whatever. You're still a sissy for being best friends with a girl!"
Anger floods her senses once more and she makes a consecutive decision right then and there. Pounding forward, she takes a resolute turn to Bobby and then slams her foot on his.
He yelps in agony, grabbing his foot and falling on the ground.
"That's what you get!" she yells.
"Yeah!" Luke and Reggie exclaim.
"Uh, guys—" Alex stutters.
They turn around to an angry mister Trent. Great, she thinks, now she's getting the blame for what Bobby started!
At least Luke doesn't like like her. That would've been a disaster.
(She gets detention, but it's worth it. Bobby stops bothering her.)
(But then Luke steals her first kiss that summer when they're by the pool playing truth or dare because Kayla wants to be adventurous. She's been obsessed with the idea of kissing and pushes Luke and Julie to do it.
It's brief, light as a feather and kind of weird, but she doesn't hate it.
His face turns bright as a cherry and she's kind of embarrassed for a day, but then they're cool and just don't talk about it.)
Reggie's parents divorce when they're in the sixth grade and they hold many more sleepovers.
"Don't move," Julie orders, carefully putting toothpaste on his pimple, "it's gonna work, I promise."
Luke groans. "You promise? It's HUGE!"
"It really isn't," she lies, because it's probably as big as the Kilimanjaro.
"I wanted to be cool on the first day of middle school and now I have a pimple," he whines, falling back on her bed when she's done.
Capping her toothpaste, she shrugs. "You're cool... just with a pimple. We're still biking together, right?"
"Of course!"
She feels the first prick of jealousy when Luke is dubbed 'the cutest boy of seventh grade' and all the girls start swarming him or asking her what he likes.
Well, he likes rock music and poking snails and her mom's pies. Does that help them make Luke their boyfriend? She doesn't think so!
"They're stealing my friend!" Julie grumbles to Flynn as they're both watching Thea make a move, or whatever that means.
"Luke isn't gonna stop being your friend," Flynn reassures. "But boys are dumb. So, I don't know."
Luke feels his first hit of jealousy at the eighth grade spring fling dance when he sees Nick asking Julie to dance during some sappy Ed Sheeran song. He thinks she'll say no, but to his baffled surprise, she says yes! To Nick! Why would anyone want to dance with Nick?! Luke swears the kid eats his own boogers.
"Why is she dancing with Nick and not with me?" he nags, standing beside Alex and Reggie as they're hoarding food.
Reggie grins. "Jealous?"
"Uh, no!"
"Sure."
It kind of gets awkward after that.
In the summer between eighth and ninth — aka, the start of freaking high school! — they both undergo major bouts of puberty.
Luke gets a growth spurt and constantly has aching knees, Julie graduates from a training bra to an actual bra because she suddenly has boobs and she's scared it'll change things.
Now, she also looks different from the guys. They'll still like her, right?
Julie swaps her glasses for contact lenses since it's easier and Luke buys his first guitar from mowing lawns all summer long.
Because of that, he lost a lot of his baby fat.
Suddenly, her best friend is kind of… attractive.
Luke gets his first girlfriend in freshman year and it isn't Julie and she hates how it comes as a surprise to her that… well… it isn't her. It's Thea, of all people. Guess that one move she made in seventh grade paid off.
According to Luke, they go on dates to the movies sometimes, or hang out at the skatepark, and kiss when no one's looking.
"I've kissed plenty of girls," Reggie boasts, noting his Bible summer camp experience. "Catch up, Luke."
"Me and Thea kiss a ton!" he exclaims, but it doesn't sound convincing. "Like, a lot!"
Alex and Julie share a disgusted look from across the cafeteria table. He came out as gay this year to them and Julie doesn't like girls, so these conversations are useless to them.
"Can we talk about something else?" she whines. "This is boring!"
Luke shrugs. "Pearl Jam brought out a new album."
The one statement diverts the conversation completely, much to her enjoyment, until Thea walks to their table and steals Luke from them.
Julie sees red.
Alex asks her if she likes Luke during a quiet moment.
"No," she mutters. "Not like that."
"Okay."
"You don't believe me?"
"No... not really."
They break up after three months and right then, Julie and Nick get together. He's sweet and kind and smart and cute and when he kisses her, he's soft and careful. She likes it. She feels safe around Nick.
He teaches her a bit of lacrosse, she teaches him how to make empanadas.
It's clear Luke doesn't like him though.
"He's so boring, Julie," he says. "I don't know what you see in him."
"What did you see in Thea?" she challenges him.
"She was cute," he shrugs, "and nice. And she's a good kisser."
She smiles, victorious, and crosses her arms. "There you go. Your explanation."
His face sours. "I don't believe he's a good kisser."
"Want to try for yourself?"
He rolls his eyes. "No. Whatever. Have fun on that date of yours," he mutters the last, grabbing his shoes and walking out her bedroom.
She's angry and distracted during the entire date and she hates herself for realising weeks later that Luke was right. Nick is boring.
Sweet, but boring.
She breaks up with him after three months — as long as Luke and Thea were together — and suddenly she understands why Luke behaved the way he did.
Why she behaved the way she did.
They're playing truth or dare in someone's basement at a birthday party, all carefully drinking from a can of cheap beer, when Carrie dares Luke to kiss Julie.
He kisses her… and then they keep kissing.
The group hollers when they don't separate after three seconds and go insane when his hand slips up her cheek and it prolongs to ten.
Their faces are red and awed when they pull back and the others in the circle look like they've won the Olympics.
"Talk?" Luke rasps.
"Yes."
He grabs her hand and pulls her out the circle, everyone ooh-ing and ah-ing, thinking they're gonna do something scandalous. They find themselves in an empty hallway. Luke lets go of her hand and starts nervously scratching at his neck.
"So, uh, that kiss, uh—"
"I liked it," she blurts. It's the biggest risk of her life, but she takes it anyway. "What, uh, did you think?"
"Yeah!" He rushes forward, sudden surge of excitement. "Yeah, I liked— I really liked it. I- I wanna kiss you again."
She smiles. "You do?"
He blushes. "Yeah."
"Okay," she giggles.
And then he's right there, cradling her cheeks while she's holding onto the hem of his t-shirt and it's sweet and warm and way different than when she kissed Nick. It's more.
She really likes him. She really really really likes Luke to an insane degree.
They talk and share little kisses on the couch for the entire night, giddy and dopey. Her heart is bursting! It may be one of the best moments of her young life.
"Hey," he grins, kissing her square on the lips as he meets her by her locker.
It's the start of senior year. Only a few more months until freedom and the beginning and end of milestones, but Luke's a constant.
To her, he'll be a constant forever.
"Hey," she smiles, grabbing his hand. "Ready to go?"
"Ready when you are."
