ray falling head over heals for rose when he went to one of their shows to support his cousin nayelis, drummer of rose & the petal pushers. she played piano and guitar and he was awe struck by the sheer joy she had playing and interacting with the crowd; it was infectious. his palms were sweaty when nayelis tugged his arm and shoved him in rose's direction. rose looked so self assured. (he finds out later, she was nervous, too. nayelis told her about ray, she thought they would be a 1/2

So I'm going to cry. But I am also going to take your hcs and run with them:

Nayelis is 15 when she meets Rose. She is this confident, beautiful woman and she works the room with an unimaginable charm so naturally, she and Nayelis become best friends in a span of a day. Their love of music is what really brings them together. Rose shreds on the keyboard and guitar. She is incredible. They end up writing a ton of songs together and Rose quickly learns that Nayelis is soft inside but rough around the edges, poetry epitomized.

Rose introduces Nayelis to her childhood friends, Kiera and Ashlyn. And the four of them can't seem to get enough of each other. Kiera is chaotic, can chug seven sodas in a matter of minutes (three minutes is her best record) and it's literally never a dull day with her in sight. Ashlyn is the one who gets them out of trouble most of the time - and they get into trouble a lot - and is perpetually tired of their shenanigans but lets it slide because she secretly loves them too much.

And so forms Rose and the Petal Pushers with Rose as lead singer and guitarist, Nayelis as drummer, Kiera on the keyboard and Ashlyn on the bass.

At 17, she meets Sunset Curve working the Orpheum Theatre. They are up and coming, they sound fantastic and their music touches Rose's soul. The lyrics to Now or Never seem to resonate with her at a deeper level than most songs that bounce around the walls of the theatre. She is absolutely digging their vibe even after Reggie, their bassist, tries terribly to flirt with her- I mean “size beautiful” come on now. But Bobby is the dorkiest, attempting to nervously ask her out after his other band mates go out for hot dogs. That whole incident sours drastically when the news of Luke, Reggie and Alex's death reach them.

Bobby and Rose end up somehow getting closer after the tragedy, they go on a few dates too but it doesn’t stick. It just never becomes romantic between them so they end up being good friends.

At 21, Rose and the Petal Pushers get a lot of gigs because Rose has an "in" with most of the cafes and clubs around town. Since 16, she's bounced from job to job waitressing and bartending so of course she does. And they are popular amongst the teens like no other. They rise even higher when they produce a demo, get even more gigs and it's at their set at the Oracle Theatre that everything falls into place. Rose is swaying to the music, feeling like the strings of her guitar have become part of her, her limbs, everything is so natural and every beat sounds like the badum badum badum of their hearts, it all feels like a dream and Rose realizes this is what she is destined for when she hears the roar of the crowd as she sings the chorus and she can't help but laugh into the lyrics just a little. The crowd takes it all in like they're in desperate need of her infectious joy.

Nayelis introduces Rose to her cousin, Ray, afterwards. She's mentioned him before, how he was a really amazing photographer and he could really do a rad album cover for them. But she had also mentioned Ray was totally her type and "are you trying to set me up with your cousin?" "So what if I am, Ro, music has been your life pretty much all your life. Live a little." "I'm fine, thank you very much." But Nayelis had failed to mention that Ray is adorable.

He's fidgeting and she can't help get nervous because he's cute. There's this shine in his grey? green? eyes like he knows Rose, like they've connected somehow. There's a raspyness to his voice, like he's a little out of breath, as he tells Rose she was fantastic up there. And Rose tries to be smooth, she really does but Ray is still looking at her like that and of course, she gets more nervous but she's got practice being something she's not: confident.

They dance around each other like the dumbasses they are. Nayelis can't stand it, it's so painful to watch. Somehow they've ended up friends, really good friends. Ray is willing to pluck the bright hot stars right out of the night sky for Rose and Rose has Ray withdrawals whenever he's not around. They seem to fit together like a puzzle, Rose's rambunctiousness and Ray's softspokenness.

He brings Dahlias for her whenever he shows up to "hangout" and one day, Nayelis just about loses it when he shows up at band practice- they are practicing for the Orpheum, it's their big night in two days and Ray is here and Nayelis knows that if she wants Rose to bring lovejoylife into their performance, she needs Rose and Ray to get their shit together so she gives fate one last chance before she'll butt in and do it herself.

She drags Ashlyn and Kiera out the door, tells Rose they're going to take a small break and leaves her cousin and best friend alone in the garage. And Rose doesn't waste any time dragging Ray over to the piano - "I wrote a little thing for you, I wanna show you" -, they sit down, sides pressed together and shoulders brushing and she starts delicately playing a soft tune on the piano. Her voice comes in after a little while into the music and it is so beautiful, so angelic, Ray feels light. And the song is about seeing so many faces but not recognizing a single soul, not until you came into my life and then everything turned sharp and full and vivid and colored. Her nimble fingers move against the keys in a graceful dance. Her side profile is lit up by the sunlight filtering through the windows and with that voice, she seems like she doesn't belong on earth, she looks otherworldly. Ray knows she's singing about him and it makes him giddy, he feels like he's going to float off into space. Rose stops suddenly then and turns her face towards him and he freezes. They are so close, there's merely an inch between them. And she kisses him, soft and slow, much like her fingers against the piano and her silky voice. And he kisses back like he's been waiting for a lifetime and honestly, he has.

Kiera, Ashlyn and Nayelis watch from the garage window with goofy smiles plastered on their faces. They play the best show known to man at the Orpheum that Friday.

It's nearly July in 2021 when Julie finds a fraying fading photograph cleaning her dad's folders off the dinner table. It falls out from one of his many work binders and Julie picks it up slowly and carefully. Julie's mouth falls open. There are four girls in the photo, they are standing in a garage much like the one they have. The girl with the wild curls is definitely her mother, unmistakably so by that bright smile on her face. She's wearing a guitar against her hip and has the rock-on fingers up. And Julie takes a minute to take in the other women and then recognition dawns, there's the drummer, Aunt Nayelis Molina, her faded brown hair longer and tucked into a pony tail. There's Kiera Simmons, Flynn's mother, she looks the same as she does now - and Julie is shocked because how does she still look so young??- her braids flailing about as she pretends to play the keyboard. And then there's Ashlyn Wilson. Same features except her hair is shorter and dyed pink at the tips, she's wearing more leather and has a bass against her side. And oh my god, it all makes sense. These are Flynn and Carrie's moms standing together on a stage next to her mom and Aunt Nayelis. They were in a band together. Rose and the Petal Pushers is the name written on the drumset- the same name on the ticket in her mom's clothing chest. And it all makes sense! How Carrie and Flynn had always been by her side, how she has known these girls since she was old enough to remember.

Something else dawns on her, she understands now why she felt such automatic attraction to Luke on stage. She brushes a finger against the guitar settled on Rose Molina's hip. Guitar. Luke somehow unknowingly reminded her of the same energy her mother had when she played the guitar on stage and for her in the studio. The same connection to the audience. The same willingness to leaves pieces of themselves with the crowd. The same love for music and mayhem. And Julie stands there in silence because this world is too small, time is too short and too grand simultaneously, there are all these webbed connections she didn't even know about and it should be overwhelming but it all slots together perfectly.

Alex has been distant recently, It wasn’t anything they had done. It was his family. His parents, to be more specific. He had finally come out to them and well...it didn’t go well. They’d stopped speaking to him completely and when he was home, pretended he wasn’t even there. His mother looked through him and his father never stayed in the same room if he was there. Alex could feel it was only a matter of time until they kicked him out completely.

Julie hadn’t joined in the anxiety party Luke and Reggie were throwing for Alex but instead patiently waited. She had an idea, she always knew when one of her boys wasn’t okay. She never pushed though, and instead waited for them to be ready to come to her.

Ray was waiting as well. Both he and Julie, and maybe Carlos too, had an idea of what was going on. Ray had already gotten their second guest room ready for Alex, for when he was ready to open up to them. When he was ready to live his life completely out in the open. Ray had hung a rainbow flag off of the porch, just a little outward sign that Alex was safe and welcome in his home, that all of them were.

Reggie had come to move in with them when he had come over with cuts and bruises littering his body. That time Julie did not wait. She went to Ray and together they went to Reggie’s house, packed his things and brought him back to his new home. That was four years ago, when Reg was only thirteen.

Luke was a different story all together. When he began to get quiet and his energy seemed to diminish, they all noticed. Reggie and Alex had bothered him until he spilled everything. Julie had waited instead. She sat next to him quietly, worked on music to distract him. Held his hand when he cried on her shoulder. Played big spoon to his little when all he wanted was to feel loved and safe.

When Luke had finally let her in, she walked right up to his parents house the next day after school and refused to leave until they sat down and watched the entire video history of Julie and the Phantoms YouTube page. She sat there for hours until they admitted that their son was full of talent and that instead of forcing him into an engineering degree that would absolutely destroy his spirit, they should support his music major.

They had agreed when Julie sat quietly on their couch and simply stared at them expectantly without blinking. She might only be seventeen but she was scary when she needed to be, Rose had made sure of it.

Alex really wants to stay home tonight. He’s not really in the mood to see anyone but none of his friends would allow it. He was pretty sure that the moment he came home today, his parents would kick him out. It was getting pretty blatant. If they didn’t do it, he was going to at least.

Julie hadn’t joined in the anxiety surrounding Alex like the boys had. Instead she convinced him that one night out wouldn’t kill him, adding on that if he got too anxious they’d leave straight away.

Julie knew that Alex definitely wasn’t ok but she knew it was a matter of time before he spilled his soul to her. It’s just how they’d always been, since they were kids.

Carrie is having her annual Valentines Day party tonight. Flynn’s cousin is in town touring UCLA for the week. He’s planning on starting in September. He is super cute and extremely Alex’s type.

So Julie is planning a secret set up. Alex has no idea but she’d let Flynn, Reggie, and Luke in on the plan. She was still shocked no one had told him about it but counted it as a win. One fourth of her best friends deserved a distraction and boy was Willie the perfect one.

“Are you guys ready?” Julie said as she walked into the studio that had somehow unofficially become the boys home. Even though Ray had made sure they all had their own space in his house.

Reggie was pulling a bright red shirt over his head, his black ripped jeans and combat boots already on, his leather jacket hanging lovingly over the back of a chair.

Luke was pulling on a white tee with “My Bloody Valentine” printed across it, a butcher knife dripping blood cut through the print. “Cute” she says to him as she takes in the shirt. She isn’t just talking about the shirt and he knows it but he smirks at her and winks. She rolls her eyes and turns to Alex.

He’s wearing a baby pink t-shirt and light colored blue jeans. His black and pink air maxes complete the look.

“No. But I doubt you’ll let me sit this one out.” Alex answers her question.

“You’re right. Let’s go, the Uber's here.” Julie puts her arm through his, pulls him towards Reggie where she loops her other arm and waits for Reggie to thread his arm through Luke’s. They skip down the driveway, Luke’s humming ��We’re off to see the Wizard’ as they go.

When they pull up to Carrie’s it’s jam packed. Parents dropping their kids off, Uber’s dropping off their riders, and a lone skateboarder, weaving between bodies like he’s made of air. Julie smiles because she’d recognize that long brown hair anywhere. The guy hasn’t cut his hair since elementary school.

As they walk in, there’s staff dressed in red and white handing out brand new polaroid cameras to each guest as they come in. “To save the memories being made here.” He says to them.

“Obnoxious, isn’t it? All that money and we get outdated cameras” Flynn says from Alex’s side. He jumps up, startled at her sudden appearance.

“Fucking hell, Flynn. Stop doing that!” Alex hisses.

“Why? It’s so much more fun when you react like that.” She answers. Julie, Luke and Reggie snicker from behind him.

“Anyway. This is my cousin Willie. Willie This is Luke, Reggie, and Alex. You already know Julie.” She says, pointing them out individually.

“Nice to meet you.” Luke says as he holds his hand out. Reggie echoes him and Julie smiles and goes in for a hug.

Alex hasn’t moved yet. He’s just standing there, eyes wide and cheeks flushed as he takes in Willie. He’s cute as hell and taller than Alex which was saying something. His cheekbones reach for the sky, and a jawline that should be illegal. He’s smiling at Alex, holding out his hand to shake and oh god, this was embarrassing. How long has he been waiting for Alex to move? How long has Alex been staring at him like a deer in headlights?

“The malfunctioning one is Alex. Give him a minute, he’ll be right with you.” Reggie said as he tears open his Poloroid camera. He turns to Luke who has his arm around Julie and is busy whispering her ear and snaps a picture.

“Shut up, Reg.” Alex clears his throat and offers up his hand, finally. He’s willing the blush on his cheeks to retreat, it doesn’t.

“So, I’m thirsty. Let’s go get some drinks?” Flynn says, grabbing Reggie’s hand and pulling him. He grabs on to Luke’s shirt who grabs onto Julie’s arm and their little chain disappears into the crowd at the speed of light.

“So, they’re not nearly as sneaky as they think they are.” Willie says. A wide smile stretching over his face.

God, he’s teeth are so nice. White and straight. He probably never even needed braces. Alex shakes his head to clear his thoughts and realises Willie is speaking to him.

“Huh?” God, he probably sounds like an idiot. Way to make an impression.

“Your friends, my cousin. They’re setting us up.” Alex chokes on his own spit. Were they?

He turns towards the bar where his friends are standing. All four of them are watching him and he narrows his eyes. Reggie salutes him. Luke gives him a bouncy thumbs up. Julie and Flynn are batting their eyes and drawing little hearts in the air in front of them, their lips puckered in exaggerated kisses.

Alex rolls his eyes and turns back to Willie who had followed his line of sight and promptly burst out laughing.

“Wanna head outside? It’s super noisy in here and something tells me they won’t come back until we’ve gotten to know each other properly.” Willie suggests and Alex nods his agreement.

They end up spending an hour together. Alex lets Willie go first and everything he learns makes him like Willie more. He’s about to start college, UCLA is his first choice and he’s already been accepted. He’s going to be moving in with his uncle Robert (Flynn’s dad). The tour was an excuse to come to LA in order to see his family.

He’s from San Francisco, and is majoring in art. He’s sold his work in different galleries since he was fifteen. His mom calls him a prodigy but he just thinks he sees the beauty in things others don’t. He paints, sculpts, and does photography mostly but otherwise dabbles in everything.

Alex tells him about himself. He’s in a band. All four of them have also applied to UCLA for music majors. They’re going on tour over the summer, down the pacific coast. He tells Willie about the time Reggie and Luke convinced him to eat engine hotdogs and they all ended up in the hospital with food poisoning. Willie found that story hysterical.

It’s as Willie searches up the Julie and the Phantoms YouTube page to watch clips of their performances that he notices something and interrupts Alex’s story about how annoying Julie and Luke are in their mutual stupidity when it comes to their feelings for each other.

“Hey, do you mind if I take a picture of you?” Willie asks as he pulls the camera up to his eye.

“Only if I can take one of you.” Alex answers. It came out faster than his brain could process. Braver and flirtier than he intended but he let the question hang.

“Sure, hotdog! As many as you want.” He winks and smiles at Alex and snaps the picture.

The little rectangle comes out of the side of the camera and Willie is shaking it and still smiling at Alex as he snaps his picture. They're both shaking the film to let it develop and laughing at the thought of people only ever having to do this for their pictures.

“God, how did people survive in the 90s?” Willie asks.

“Right? Like they had to carry around separate things for everything. Music, cameras, phones, planners. The bags must have been huge!” Alex answers and they laugh again.

Willie reaches into his pocket and pulls out a sharpie, he grabs the picture of him from Alex’s hand and writes something on the white border. When he hands it back, Alex’s face turns red yet again.

They end up staying outside and completely missing Dirty Candi’s performance along with the rest of the party. Neither one is sure exactly how long it's been but Willie’s phone chimes and he looks down at it, startled.

“It’s Flynn. Wow, it’s midnight already? Looks like we gotta go. This was perfect, thanks for hanging out with me all night.” Willie says and Alex smiles at him.

“Yeah, I had a great time.” Alex answers as they both stand up. Willie turns to walk away but only makes it a few steps before he turns back to Alex.

“Can I kiss you?” Willie asks when he’s in front of Alex again. Alex freezes in response. He can’t do anything but nod because Fuck, he’s wanted to kiss him all night.

Willie laughs softly and puts both of his hands on Alex’s face and pulls him forward. It’s soft and sweet. Willie’s lips feel like cashmere and he smells like pine trees and coconut. The scent makes Alex light headed but he refuses to pull away until Willie makes the move to. Unfortunately it’s way too soon when he does.

“Thanks.” Willie turns and starts walking away again, leaving Alex to try and stop his brain leaking out of his ears since it’s now turned to mush.

“Wait! Can I have your number?” Alex shouts to him as he leaves. Willie turns, walking backwards as he shakes his head. The wide smile is still plastered on his face.

“Nah. It’s more fun this way, hotdog.” Willie answers, holding up the picture he’d taken of Alex.

“I hate that name! It’s how I almost died!” Alex shouts to him. Willie’s loud laugh lingers in the air around Alex long after he’s gone.

“Well well well, if it isn’t Alex C. Mercer. The boy who hasn’t been seen all night.” Reggie says as he throws himself down in the lounger next to him.

“Well, as setups go, I’d call this one a success.” Luke says from his other side.

“I definitely saw some flirting there.” Julie says as she sits down between Luke’s legs.

“How would you know? It’s not like either of you knows what flirting is.” Alex smirks at the two of them.

Reggie’s snickers come from behind Alex and makes it difficult to keep a straight face. Luke rolls his eyes and leans his head back, pulling Julie back with him so that her back rests against his chest. Julie punches Alex in the shoulder and sticks her tongue out at him.

It’s a week before classes start at UCLA and Julie, Luke Alex, and Reggie are enjoying being back. In their own homes, in their own beds (Alex’s happens to be at Julie’s house now). They decide to go to the beach and invite Flynn along.

Alex hasn’t mentioned Willie since valentines day and no ones brought it up. After all, he’s six hours away and had never given Alex his phone number. Sure, Alex had gone full FBI and found his Instagram page but it was private and Alex had never worked up the nerve to request him.

He thinks about him a lot though. Looks at the picture in his wallet more than he’d ever admit. He doesn’t have to come out and say it to anyone though because they’ve all caught him with it. Julie just smiled sweetly and left it alone. Unfortunately, Luke and Reggie are assholes so they bring it up all the time.

So here they are, spread out on the beach and Alex is getting thirsty. They’ve been here for a few hours and whatever supplies they’ve brought have been depleted.

“Hey, I’m gonna go grab some drinks. If you freeloaders want anything you’re going to have to come with.” Alex says as he stands up and slips his flip flops on.

“Rude.” Reggie says and stands up to go with him. Julie goes too and the three of them make it to the cement. Luke stays behind with Flynn to discuss album art concepts.

They stop to make sure someone actually had the money and when Reggie pulls out a soggy twenty that he had accidentally went swimming with, Julie laughs at him. Alex pulls out his own thankfully dry wallet.

“Watch out!” The voice comes from behind Alex but he doesn’t have time to move out of the way before something solid and strong slams into his back sending him sprawling face first into the sand.

“What the fuck?!” He yells as he spits sand out of his mouth and brushes it off of his body where it stuck painfully.

“Oh man, You dinged my board.” The voice comes from behind him again and he turns, fury burning in his veins.

“I dinged your board? You almost killed me!” Alex yells back. He doesn’t look up, examining his skinned knee.

“Yeah, I did pancake you, huh?” he’s laughing now and Alex stands up to give this guy a piece of his mind but his thoughts are cut off abruptly.

He can see Julie and Reggie out of the corner of his eye, smiling widely and snickering to each other. God, he hates them so much.

“Hotdog! Wow, long time.” He says. Alex’s brain has shut off though because wow he looks better than he did on valentines day.

His skin is sunkissed, his hair lightened by the sun, and he’s wearing a crop top that shows off his toned stomach. Alex traces the V as it disappears under his waistband. Someone pinches his elbow and he snaps out of it. Thank you, Julie.

“Willie, hi! How have you been?” When had his voice gotten so squeaky?

“I’ve been good! Starting school next week. Just finished moving in yesterday. How about you?” He answers. Julie and Reggie have walked away to the beach bar.

“Just got back from touring last night. Now we’re here. Relaxing before school starts.” Alex waves his hand out, encompassing the beach and the general area where Flynn and Luke are bent over her phone.

“You know, I haven’t stopped thinking about you since that party. Kind of the best kiss I’ve had.” Willie chuckles and bumps his shoulder against Alex’s.

“Tell me about it.” Alex pulls his wallet out as he speaks. Pulling out the picture from his wallet and showing it to Willie.

“No way!” That smile that Alex hasn’t stopped staring at is back as he pulls out his own wallet and shows Alex the picture. The ink is faded, as if he’d been running his fingers over the signed name. The corners are crinkled and Alex beams because his looks just as well loved.

“Wanna join us?” Alex asks and Willie nods and smiles in response.

“Hell yeah!” He takes off his helmet and picks up his skateboard, following Alex back to their spot. The thirst that had been drying his throat moments before is completely forgotten when Willie laces his fingers with Alex’s.

For the Post Studio AU, what was the hardest part of escaping the studio? For everyone? Like, recovery wise, what's the hardest part for the inky Joey Drew Studios crew?

Oof, where to start with this one... I'm gonna set a few exceptions aside that didn't end up in the Cycle but that were still affected by the studio's descent into madness.

Henry Stein - Being a war veteran Henry was already dealing with PTSD and his old injuries, so being stuck in the studio for five long years repeating the same thing over and over, reopened a few psychological wounds he was working through. Coping with double the survivor's guilt isn't easy, especially when he lays awake at night wondering if he could have stopped Joey if he'd just stayed, but Henry is a stubborn son of a gun. He finds ways to march on and does his best to help everyone else.

Sammy Lawrence - The sacrificial cult murders are hard for him to forgive himself for. He's resentful of his own shattered mind, and is stuck in his own personal loop of being unsure of who he is. Surely he's not Sammy Lawrence anymore, nor does he fit the bill of Prophet. When he ends up spitting up the ink that forms Andy (aka Wanderer/Wandering Sin Bendy) he also ends up with a new hurdle to deal with, which is this mischievous cartoon that looks like a character he absolutely loathes, but who is connected to him in a way he might dare say is more like a parent-child relationship than god-subject. Needless to say Sammy needs time and a little bit of affection to bring down the self-loathing walls he's slowly built up. Once he's learned to reach out to others for help instead of being a prideful mule, he'll finally be able to start mending himself.

Jack Fain - He honestly believed he'd never see his husband again, and that nearly broke him. Then when Henry and Linda managed to contact him, Jack was instead afraid that he'd be rejected because he wasn't human anymore. Jack's insecurities made it hard for him to heal and work his way up back into a semblance of humanity, after all who'd ever be able to love a lump of ink that smells like your bathroom plumbing? Thankfully he was wrong and his husband was more than willing to welcome him back into his life. They have 20 years worth of grief and longing to work through.

Susie Campbell - It takes a while for Susie to forgive herself for what Alice had done in the studio (what she'd allowed her to do). But unlike many of the others she can't afford to sit still. As one of the more humanoid survivors she is tasked with helping Allison with groceries and, as such, is confronted with 20 years worth of change. Once she has time for herself she spends it in introspective silence or straight up just writes about it. She ends up uncovering a talent for literature and becomes a self-made successful "fiction" author. Her specialty? Sci-fi horror.

Norman Polk - Norman's life is a living hell even as he is rescued. He's lucid most of the time but (if provoked) he can easily switch back to being a feral mess. The silence is also suffocating to him, so he gets incredibly antsy if there isn't much happening. Combating his wanderlust is difficult so he coped by walking in the woods, often getting lost unless he's accompanied (which is a rule Henry immediately sets up). The most he does at first is to sleep all day and walk all night. Once he gains more of his self-control however, things begin to look up for him. It helps to have an emotional support dog that can keep up with him, as well as having people in his life that treat him like a person still. His little cartoon "child" also brings out the more tender side of his less lucid state of mind.

Allison Pendle - Like Susie she has little time to sit around and wallow. She has many responsibilities and as such is always busy. The only time she has to think and let herself cry is when she's in bed. Thankfully Tom is there for her, even if he can't talk anymore. Being held is enough for her though.

Thomas Connors - At first he's furious at being stuck as a mute cartoon wolf. He feels useless being unable to get a job and help provide for the cabin, and sitting around twiddling his thumbs was never something he liked doing. The only way he has to cope is helping Lacie figure out how to sort out Bertrum's situation, try to find a way to fix Norman's speaker and hearing, as well as keeping an eye on everyone when Allison and Susie leave to go into town. Running outside like an unbound dog alongside Buddy also helps. Freedom and exercise go well together in keeping him nice and active.

Shawn Flynn - He is incredibly frustrated about his size and lack of speech. He used to be a very loud and boisterous man, so being rendered a giant mute unable to convey his thoughts in a meaningful (albeit crude) manner makes him feel a bit isolated. His size also makes it difficult for him to get back into toy-making, but he'll be damned if he doesn't have at least one thing to do with his hands. Most of the time he spends hanging out with Grant who needs a little bit of supervision. He hopes his company helps the depressed mess his dearest friend has become.

Grant Cohen - There's a lot going on in his head, so most days are spent laying around just sleeping. He has very little motivation to do anything, and mostly only trusts Edvard (the Edgar clone that has a piece of his soul) and Shawn. His best days are spent reading or even listening to the radio. That's enough proof that he's unwell but at least coping in his own way. His is very slow progress, but still progress.

Buddy Lewek - He misses his family dearly, and it was hard having to accept he's never going to be a productive member of society, much less see the changes of a progressing civilization. Still Buddy is young. He finds things to busy himself with, enjoys being able to live free and without fear, and still practices his drawing with great gusto (even if he never quite gets Bendy's head right). He won't admit it but running wild like a rowdy pup is actually quite nice. He illustrates Susie's novels.

Abby Lambert - She was in very bad shape like Grant, depressed and suicidal, but was lucky enough to be reunited with her family early on. The occasional letter she sends shows she's doing well and getting better each time a new letter arrives. She feels a little bad that not everyone is as fortunate as her to have the support of their loved ones... Some don't have families to return to at all and that just doesn't sit right with her.

Bertrum Piedmont - Hates life a little less with each attempt Lacie makes at improving his living conditions. Being a stationary amusement park ride takes a toll on one's sanity, so it's normal that Bertrum is incredibly antisocial at first. Fortunately he's slowly warmed up to everyone as time goes on, and the one thing that bothers him is being unable to show his appreciation for the stubborn idiots who keep trying to help him. Inadequacy is a bitch to someone who's used to giving his all.

Lacie Benton - She's a living animatronic and she hates it, but now that she's not immobilized and that Tom built her a new arm, she can actually move on with her life and try to sort the real issues. Starting with Bertrum and Norman who definitely need a bit of refurbishing to live a better life. Surprisingly Bertrum is easier to sort out than Norman, who gets just a little too upset when she touches his speaker or wires...

Emma LaMonte - Like Jack and Abby she got lucky enough to go back to her family. Being as determined as she is, she also managed to regain her human form pretty quickly. Her perfectionist nature may have made her difficult most of the time, but now it's certainly worked in her favor. The one thing that she can't cope with is the memory of once having no legs to speak of... It chills her, the thought she'd never be able to dance again.

The Ink Demon - Binky needs to learn how to people and that in itself is already hard. Learning to cope with the monstrous things he did to everyone else is a whole new can of worms... Luckily the toons seem to like him a lot. It helps to not be cast aside. Henry also makes an effort to teach him as best he can, and show him the affection and understanding that Joey never did.

Joey Drew - Fled the country once he realized Henry broke the cycle. Can't deal with the fact he was wrong and that his life's work amounted to nothing, so he avoids dealing with it altogether. He's a wanted man, not by the law but by Henry's own righteous fury and desire for justice, as well as Linda's protective rage over her husband.

Wally Franks - He's the one that got away, so he carries a lot of survivor's guilt on his shoulders. Wishes he'd been able to help in the past, so once Henry contacts him for help finding everyone's families he jumps at the opportunity to do right by his old coworkers. He's the one who gets Norman a dog that wouldn't just flee from him, and he'll donate funds to keep the cabin afloat whenever things aren't doing so good. He visits a lot too.

Dot - She couldn't believe that the people she was sure as hell were dead actually survived Drew's madhouse of a studio. She had to pinch herself when she reunited with them however, because she wasn't expecting... Well... This... She feels responsible for Buddy being stuck as he is because she couldn't save him and instead saved herself. She's taken it upon herself to locate Joey and expose his monstrous actions.

Linda Stein - Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. This lady was not scorned by her husband, but she sure has a bone to pick with Mr. Drew. Luckily for her, Henry feels just as vindictive as she when it comes to Joey's obscene cruelty. Linda does her best to help everyone at the cabin, and gives her all in helping her husband through listening to the things he dare not tell his therapist... Needless to say she's heartbroken that her beloved had to go through two separate hells only to be expected to move on once he got out...

“Step on it! We got Company!”

Everything was a complete blur, happening in rapid succession that it was nearly impossible to process. Elena Fisher had partaken in her fair share of shoot outs, some incredibly similar to the current situation she was in, the difference now was merely semantics.

She barrelled down the narrow walkway, ancient ruins encompassing the way out in a claustrophobic manner. If the circumstances didn’t call for panic and nimble feet, she’d take a moment to admire yet another long lost civilisation in her wake.

Gunshots echoed through as the army-for-hire attempted to hit the two figures, the two barely managing to exit the choke point and out into the open.

Elena took a moment to catch her breath, lamenting on the fact she could never simply get a story nowadays without being shot at. Her eyes trailed over to her partner — who was equally out of breath, however urged her to press onward.

“C’mon, take one of their trucks, we’ll be lucky if we hit the nearest town before they tail us.” Chloe Frazer motioned for her companion to follow, as unlikely as the pairing had been, the two women found each other’s company much more bearable than initially expected.

Of course, it wasn’t without needing something the other had. Elena had been stumped just days prior at the prospect of losing a big story after her source had been unceremoniously blown up — quite literally. It just so happened that the bar she weighed out her options had also been the same bar the familiar Australian woman had been on the lookout for her next big break.

The two hijacked one of the unmanned vehicles, tearing up some of the lush terrain as they made their quick escape. Both looking back with wide smiles at the near death experience turn successful lift and having enough proof to run a highly intriguing article.

“I can’t believe we did that!” Elena laughed out loud, her heart still thundering in her chest while the adrenaline surged through her. Her hands gripped the edge of her seat as she beamed at her companion, who was rather proud of the work they completed today.

Chloe weaved the truck in and out of major obstacles, having some indication where they needed to go in order to get to town, “we make a pretty good team, don’t we?”

The blonde was taken aback by the compliment, a light blush painting her cheeks as she flustered to find an answer. In the short few years she’d known Chloe, it was clear that the Australian was hard to impress, rarely allowing anyone in too close. To hear her point it out was an honour.

“Y-yeah… I think we did great.” Elena beamed, her eyes lingering over her partner a little too long.

“I knew I liked you for a reason,” Chloe raised her brow, her eyes trailing back and forth from watching the road to her passenger.

It was a miracle they managed to both make it out alive and managed to get enough evidence for the journalist, unlike other times which resulted into her having to sacrifice her story just to make it out alive.

This time was different, and both of them were aware of that major difference; No Nathan Drake. As much as they equally admired and appreciated his heroic efforts, they couldn’t deny the fact he was quite literally the worst treasure hunter. Somehow, someway always finding the ability to blow up his latest find in some spectacular feat.

Without him in the picture, it was unexpectedly easy to pull off the job.

In the several days finding the next lead, following the trail of some illicit blackmarket group, Elena saw a side to Chloe she was quite happy to see. That sentiment also applied for the Australian, no longer believing the outspoken journalist was as bothersome in her regard.

The two had driven for the most part of two hours, ditching the truck somewhere ambiguous while they trekked the rest of the way into town. The dark haired woman praying that their plane ride out of the secluded outback town was still available, wanting to get the hell out of dodge as soon as possible.

With the harsh summer sun beating down on them, the trek felt much longer than it actually was, the American completely out of her comfort zone as she watched in envy at her companion who was seemingly unbothered by the heat. Elena fanned her face with one hand and held up the other to alleviate the glare from the sun, cursing herself for not thinking to bring sunglasses — of all things.

Chloe looked back in amusement, finding it funny that her partner was sweltering in the blistering heat, “bit hot, love?” The facetious tone not at all deterring the glare she got in response, merely laughing more as she wipes away the sweat beading on her neck.

She pointed lazily ahead, “town’s not too far away — won’t melt on me, will you?”

Elena squinted at her, only because she was so conveniently placed right by the sun, “y’know what, I just might.” She panted, taking a short breather.

The local stifled a laugh, “c’mon hot stuff, that article of yours won’t write itself,” she strode ahead, not particularly overthinking her comment coupled as she could just spot the town ahead.

“Here I was thinkin’ I’d catch a break from the shameless flirting… must be a common trait among thieves.” Elena was smug, catching up with her strides as she walked in sync with Chloe. The statement was purely a soft jab at the way people in this specific profession tend to talk to one another.

“Oh — was I not being clear enough?” Chloe retorted, an equally as complacent smirk on her face, even more so upon noticing the flustered look on the blonde's face, “I’ll be more obvious next time, love.”

It was hard to determine whether or not she was being sarcastic, her accent lent little to the imagination with the monotonous drawl, but her sultry tone of voice often always contradicted the accent. As someone who knew her relatively well, how she spoke to other people and carried herself; Elena was still confused.

Maybe the flirty comments were always so obvious when she was directing them elsewhere, then again, Elena was sure that it was simply a shared trait among the many within this business.

Truth be told, the only other person who had attempted to charm her was Nathan, and his measly endeavors were so blatantly obvious it was borderline cringeworthy. She could barely count Harry Flynn as an eligible contender considering he tried to blow the lot of them up.

She wasn’t sure why she was so stuck in her thoughts about it, she was an adult after all and didn’t need to overthink every single remark made her way. Yet here she was, the familiar feeling bubbling up inside her all the while her partner walked in a proud strut.

“I’m sorry — are you joking? I - I really can’t tell if you’re pulling my leg.” Elena eventually spoke out, deciding that the adult approach was the best way to feed into Chloe’s zero bullshit, blunt attitude. She was well aware now wasn’t the time to be having a conversation like this, and typically she’d be happy to let the comments fly by with having a witty retort. This time felt more urgent, like she needed to know before proceeding further.

“Wouldn’t dream of it,” Chloe winked, jogging up ahead as they entered into the small isolated town. Elena laughed to herself, finding a sense of relief fill her from that sufficient answer. If she was being completely honest, she hadn’t met anyone quite like Chloe before but she had an alluring aura, even when she was being unlikeable; one couldn’t help but be drawn to her. Elena was no exception.

Nevermind that the pair of them looked like they actively fought some of the native wildlife, the two of them disregarding odd looks thrown their way as they casually strolled down the main street.

The local ushered her companion into a dingy old pub that definitely looked like it wasn’t up to code — if that even existed this far in isolation. The town itself was home to one grocery store, two pubs, an abysmal excuse for a doctors office and one lousy looking police station that sat surrounded by approximately twenty-six houses.

Inside the pub was not much different than outside; muggy with a thick musk scent that mixed with the aroma of sweat from the patrons. Elena must have pulled a face subconsciously, earning a chuckle from her partner as she guided her through the building, “mining towns aren’t all they chalk up to be, aye? Poor bastards leave their families for months at a time to live in luxury at a shit hole like this.”

“Yeah — I guess you could say that…” Elena nervously laughed, not a big fan of the way the workers were eyeing them suspiciously. She wasn’t quite sure if they were looking at them because they were quite clearly outsiders, or for some other reason.

“Stop your worryin’, love — you got me to protect you.” Chloe flashed her a smile, opening the backdoor to the sweet sight of their getaway plane. The makeshift airport was barely manned, only passing the odd pilot or two on their way to greet their pilot.

Elena looked around cautiously, knowing that typically this was the part of the job where they get ambushed; then again, they had pulled this job off without the antagonising presence of Nathan Drake, so the likelihood of something like that happening was incredibly low. It wasn’t his fault he had an undeniable knack for pissing off the ‘bad guys’ effortlessly.

Seeing that she wasn’t in the conversation, Chloe reached over to her and softly grabbed Elena’s hand, “Tommo’s ‘bout ready to leave, you still with us?”

The blonde snapped out of her preemptive panic, giving her partners hand a squeeze as she nods, “only if you’ll have me.”

“I think I’ll keep you around a bit longer.”

What are your hopes for season 8?

Nothing much. Just be good and relaxing.

Elizabeth officially picks Nathan and they start courting, with lots of adorable shy flirtation and early romance happiness, cute family scenes with Allie and Little Jack too, and a big passionate kiss scene towards the end of the season, possible after one of their lives is in danger. New romantic interest or other plotline for Lucas so he can bow out of the competition gracefully but not disappear. Jesse and Clara get pregnant. Rosemary and Lee adopt a child. Bill and Nathan carry on with exciting Mountie and Judge business. Something positive for Henry, for the love of god.

Nathan + Elizabeth. Baby for Rosemary and Lee. Lucas goes away.

Nathan and Elizabeth, Elizabeth and Allie, Elizabeth and Lucas, Carson and faith, Lucas and a new character, colters, Flynns, kevin and Fiona, more Florence, and a new paster. Also more kids and their interactions with each other and the adults.

I'm hoping the love triangle gets resolved no later than 8x03, and I'm really hoping it ends with Elizabeth engaged. Like, I know it's a little quick, but I think they waited way too long to get her and Jack married. And now that she's a widowed mother, I don't really want to see her in a long courtship or engagement. Especially if she picks Nathan (come on, we know it's all headed that way). I want to see Nathan, Elizabeth, Allie, and Jack as a family, and quick! I want to see the PTB do right by Henry, more than anything. I want to see Lee and Rosemary either pregnant or adopting.

Hopes: An end to the triangle...start to Elizabeth and Nathan's relationship. Parenthood for Lee and Rosemary via natural and/or adoption. Meet Lucas Mother and/or return to Lucas, man of mystery and maybe slightly dodgy. Developing friendship/mentorship with Nathan and Bill. A trip or visit from Hamiltonians (Elizabeth's parents or more Julie!). More Mountie cases with Bill involved...more Judge-centred stories for Bill. Last,but not least...Leland's motorcycle and leather coat from series 2!

Elizabeth chooses Lucas. Cute moments with little jack. A baby for rosemary . Elizabeth book deal journey . Henry has a new job. Lucas running oil business. Ally and Nathan moments.

Same as it was mid season, watch more interaction between the guys and the girls. There's been very little especially in the last episodes, it was more two on two all the time. It was amazing watching Nathan do exciting mountie stuff, so I definitely want more of that, especially because it will bring something to resolve in his relationship with Elisabeth. I would like Faith to be back, since I like her and Carson a lot, and possibily some real talk about baby Coulter, it's been barely there, I think it deserves more attention (I know it's Hallmark, but it's not a scandalous topic, there's an orphanage in WHC soooo)

Elizabeth & Nathan to get engaged, Rosemary & Lee to become parents, Gowen to acquire his Oil business again and fall in love, Bill to falll in love, Lucas & Fiona to become a couple and Jesse and Clara to be pregnant. Things should be resolved faster as we dont know how much longer the show will be renewed. Before it is cancelled, it should be tied up in a nice bow for all of us who love it.

No drama. More of Elizabeth and Nathan and little Jack.

I hope they don't do a time jump. I really would like to see Nathan deal with the emotional fallout of moving that gun barrel. That would be a really good but heartbreaking storyline.

Rosemary and Lee to start a family

Hope that we get to see Nathan open up more. And also get to see more about Lucas’ past. More Nathan and Bill moments.

That Elizabeth finally makes a decision, for more focus on Jesse and Clara, Lucas away from Elizabeth maybe become a villain, Faith and Carson reunited

Lee & Rosemary getting pregnant/adopting. Ending the triangle. More stories not revolving around Elizabeth and her love life.

That Elisabeth make her choice early in the season. Going back to a fun Lucas. More Fiona. Carson find love with somebody else.

Baby for Rosemary & Lee!! More of them in general they are my fave part of the show. Definitely a resolution to the love triangle so we can at least see where they will take it. More Henry!! Fuck Lucas give Henry his company back and allow him to be more a part of the community.

Elizabeth to choose between Nathan and Lucas early on in the season. Lee and Rosemary have a child. Ned and Florence get together. A love interest for Henry.

For the love triangle to be resolved, hopefully towards the beginning of the season. Also I really want to see Elizabeth and Nathan go on that date, but because of the time jump I’m not holding my breath.

End to the triangle (dare I hope). Elizabeth and Nathan begin courting. I like the idea of Lucas and Fiona together. Lee and Rosemary adopt a little boy. Bill and Molly begin a romance. Just more of being in Hope Valley. Would like a storyline where the town comes together to defend itself (maybe against a band of outlaws, I know that's very "old westernish" but would be nice to see them band together and fight to save the town).

I want to have more continuity in the plotlines. I liked having a story on two episodes.

No triangles

The end to the love triangle with Nathan coming out on top. Lee and Rosemary start their own family. Lucas and Fiona become a couple.

Just generally good writing. Also for Nathan & Elizabeth to get together and Lucas to stop being weirdly creepy. Also, I want more Rosemary and Lee plots that aren't comical. I like them regardless, but they really shine in more serious stories.

E and N together

Lee and Rosemary with a child and Bill to find love

Fiona declares herself mayor and makes a town decree that the love triangle must end. Also, Henry finds happiness and lots more of Lee and Rosemary.

Elizabeth and Nathan! Jesse and Clara get pregnant. More action, for the whole town, especially Nathan. Rosemary and Lee continue to be their great selves. More student plotlines. And something good happens to Henry.

I hope to see more interactions with the rest of the characters and of course their lives on how they grow and of course Elizabeth finding love in which I hope she picks Nathan crossing my fingers and everything else that goes on and more. ?

For the love triangle to last only a few more episodes. We don’t need this to drag on. I think it would be great if Rosemary and Lee had a child. I also hope to see the same for Clara and Jesse. I’d like to see more of Henry, Bill being fatherly to Elizabeth and Clara. Fiona finding her passion.

The love triangle is resolved with Nathan as the winner!

Something good! Maybe more of Lucas and delving more into his personality, and I want to see Faith become a doctor.

Mainly let’s explore Nathan’s past and his relationship with Elizabeth... not to mention let’s find out what Carson’s “it’s a keeper“ photo is going to foreshadow for N & E!

My greatest wish for season 8 is that Elizabeth and Nathan start courting officially and that the love triangle is put behind us once and for all. I am excited to see what potential challenges lie ahead for them as a couple and blended family. I would also like to see Rosemary and Lee finally become parents. I'm excited for Henry's journey. It would be nice to see him start a new business that surpasses Gowen Petroleum in success. I am also very excited for Fiona. I think it would be exciting for her to start a business or even run for Mayor. I think she is smart and capable enough to fill the hole that Abigail's character left. I also really enjoyed Bill's character this year. I like seeing him as a judge and as a supportive friend. I'm curious to see if they'll find him a new love interest. It would be nice to see one of the supportive characters have a storyline next season. I would enjoy seeing Molly, Florence, Ned or anyone else in the spotlight for a change. As for Jesse and Clara, I wouldn't mind seeing them have a baby. I also think there are wedding bells in the future for Faith and Carson. Lastly, since I doubt they'd ever get rid of Lucas, I hope they bring his character back to what it used to be. I feel like he has the potential to be a fun (and infinitely more likeable) character if he's not so obsessed with Elizabeth.

That the love triangle will be over. Hopefully it will be Nathan. Lee and Rosemary become parents. Henry is back and doing good.

Generally, I just hope they only do a few things I dislike, and that there are good, interesting stories for the characters I enjoy (maybe something for Florence and Molly!). I’d love to see more of the supporting characters, their friendships with each other, and some meaningful fresh storylines for several members of the cast. I’d prefer, if season 8 is the season that Rosemary and Lee become parents, it is through adoption, without her also becoming pregnant this season (maybe later as their family grows, but I’d like some time with their first child before). Whatever direction they take with the main romance, (whoever Elizabeth is with and however they choose to write it), even if by some miracle it’s what I want, I hope for significant focus to remain on the friendships and for Elizabeth to also have other things going on.

This has been my favourite series by far. It feels like an ensemble show...even if the triangle was top billing...and there were some great stories there, even if I got frustrated that they didn't do more with some. The cast do seem to enjoy each others company and McGarry and McNally feel as if they have always been there. If it weren't for the adorable twins playing little Jack, I would say...'Jack who?' Bill, Florence, Molly and even Ned felt more part of the town than they have in a long time. When Faith and Carson were on, I enjoyed them. It would be interesting the next step in that relationship as it is quite different than any in HV. I liked the kid stories that were there...Robert and becoming a Mountie, Allie and Grandfather, even Emily getting lost, so I hope they just don't focus on adults all the time. Hope we don't have to wait too long for series 8!

I wish Lee and Jesse had hugged when Lee got better, I felt like there was something missing from the scene :(

Honestly I’m glad Abigail is done at this point bc other than Elizabeth her story took up most of the time and I wasn’t all that interested in her anymore either. Rosie is my absolute fave and I want as much of her as possible and I love Lee both as her husband and as a character too so I really want them to have their baby this season. I’d like to see a more extended storyline outside of the love triangle, doesn’t really matter who maybe put a couple characters together but I think Lee’s accident and aftermath would have been great to see if he was in the infirmary for more than a hot sec lol. I think Pascale could have really shown us a deeper side of Rosemary and more of the town coming together for that episode would have been nice. I mean I’d love to see Lee’s family again or go into Rosemary’s family too even if that doesn’t seem like it will happen. In general I’d like to see more storylines actually finished and not just introduced and cut off. While I still think Elizabeth is the fave of a lot of people and the love triangle is a point of contention I definitely think a lot of people would enjoy getting to really know other characters more and i would definitely be open to that any day. Overall I did enjoy this season and I do have high hopes for next season! Special thanks to your blog for fueling my obsession :)

Overall, really enjoyed the season, looked forward to each and every episode. I think they have managed to overcome the hurdles (Jack dyinig, Abigail leaving) and come out stronger.

The love triangle is doing the character of Elizabeth no favors. Right now I don't really care for Elizabeth, Lucas, or Nathan. The triangle storyline needs resolved so I can go back to liking them.

I feel like Nathan doesn’t want to put Elizabeth in a relationship that has a chance where he dies like Jack. He might be scared.

I liked Rosemary/Lee scenes during the chikenpox episode which were funny. I didn't like episode 5 due to the competition between Lucas and Nathan. But the scene with the dart falling in Nathan's glass was funny.

I wouldn’t say this season was exactly good, but it had me emotionally invested, and there were plenty of things I enjoyed about it, despite the many faults. There are so many good characters, who will hopefully get even more chance to shine next season! I personally love Elizabeth and Lucas together, and am very grateful for the time we’ve had if it doesn’t last much longer. Rosemary remains amazing (as always), and her friendship with Elizabeth has been great to see, and is probably the best part of the show recently!

to this day, maximus sends money to his mom every once in awhile. when he first moved, it started off as just letters with no return address ( he didn’t want his dad to find him ) updating her on his life. the hardest part about leaving san francisco was leaving his mother. that’s why he feels so obligated to keep in touch with her. even though she stopped having his back, he figured ( hoped ) she still worried about him. the letters were meant to relieve her from any possible stress she may have of him being gone. but since he writes to them with no return address, he has no idea how they’re doing or if they even still live in that same house. if not, he hopes whoever does live there enjoys the small donations whenever he gets a chance to send them.

there are few things maximus is ashamed of, and his inability to hold a stable relationship is one of them. he blames his father for this, but knows he could attempt to fix this if he really wanted to. his dad was never the softest man, doing all his kind and loving things for his wife in private. maximus has no idea how to properly love someone. he’s been in relationships but they all eventually implode because of his inability to open up. it scares him, though, the thought of being alone. he knows there are tons of women out there who are wonderful, but the last thing he wants to do is cause any stress into their lives. so, for now he sticks to being on his own.

deep down, maximus knows he is severely messed up by his relationship with his parents. he curses them and himself each day because of it. he knows it’s not healthy to carry that kind of thing around with you, but he refuses to seek any sort of mental help for it. he doesn’t have any mental illnesses ( that he’s aware of ) just a few… issues. issues that could definitely be fixed by opening up to a therapist and looking for solutions. what would the town say if one of carthay’s finest was going to therapy? he’s not aware how socially acceptable it is among teens these days, and he has his dad’s voice drilled into his memory telling him how pathetic he’ll look walking into a therapist’s office and lying down on a couch, bitching about how poorly his dad treated him. so, he keeps it to himself.

part of maximus is grateful that all of his relationships have fallen apart thus far. he’s absolutely terrified of having kids because he fears he’d be just like his dad. he watches out for some of the kids around town, but he thinks that’s as far as he could ever go. besides, he’s almost in his forties. at this point, it’s too late to really have a kid for him. that’s partially why he’s so drawn to rapunzel. while she may not be a kid, she is someone for him to look out for and have their best interest at heart.

maximus is at his happiest in the hundred acre woods. there’s ( usually ) no one around to bother him and he can just enjoy the world for what it is. it gives him an opportunity to wind down from a stressful week at work, it gives him an opportunity to workout without the stress of doing it for some high speed chase, and it gives him the opportunity to think about when he was young. he’s not sure how many other people see all the fruit that grows in the woods, but he definitely does. it reminds him of summers with his mom, where they’d go into her little garden and pick tomatoes and strawberries. but none of that could even compete with the excitement of picking from their apple tree in the fall. luckily for him, the hundred acre woods is full of apple trees. every time he goes he longs for his mother, but he knows this is for the best. still, when he picks them, he can hear her singing in the back of his mind.

“Would you get mad if I fell asleep on you? You’re so comfy …”

“I - uh no?” There wasn’t much that Talisa could say surprised her anymore. With her family being the way it was, with the sexual partners that she had, she was pretty sure she had heard just about everything. Until this moment at least. There had never been any sort of situation with a partner that they would feel comfortable enough to actually sleep on her. No, most of her relationships had consisted of flirting, fucking and fleeing. She had been okay with that. Perfectly fine as a matter of fact and usually encouraged it. In fact, she was the one doing it most of the time. Talisa hadn’t really thought of it until now, but she wouldn’t really be able to do that with Celeste. Sure, she could do the flirting, and as proven earlier, they could definitely do the fucking, but fleeing? How can you flee when you go to the same school much less live in the same room? There was no escaping from what they had just done, and that was probably something Talisa should have put some more thought into. Her chest began to fill with panic, and she opened her mouth, trying to find an excuse to go outside and get some air, when she suddenly realized her response apparently didn’t matter to the other girl. Talisa froze as Celeste’s head found it’s way to her stomach, nuzzling gently into the bare skin and wrapping an arm around her, their legs tangling together. She vaguely heard the girl ask if she was okay over the pounding of her heart in her ears. “Y-yeah. I’m fine.” Almost as if it moved of its own accord, Talisa’s hand moved to the other girl’s long, soft locks, gently stroking through the shining blackness of her hair.

“I do not drool when I sleep!”

“The evidence on the pillow says contrary.” Desiree teased giving him a little smirk over her shoulder as she put the pillow into the washer. He totally did drool when he slept, but she wasn’t grossed out by it. It was rare, and it wasn’t like it was much anyway. Besides, she wasn’t going to lie, there had been times when she had been teaching yoga and more than one person had fallen asleep during shevasina. That usually ended with her having to clean up drool from the carpet which was definitely not a fun experience. She’d much rather clean up this way. Not to mention, the benefits of sleeping with him far outweighed the cons of his sleeping habits. Her smirk changed to a soft smile as she turned back to the laundry, remembering the night before. He had taken her to an outdoor concert in the next town over for one of her favorite local bands. They had brought take out, danced and cuddled under the stars on a soft blanket. It was one of the best dates that she had ever been on. It had only gotten better when she was finally able to invite him back to her place since her roommate was gone. Finally, she had learned that he was just as gorgeous under those clothes as she thought he would be. One of her favorite parts of the night though was just being able to fall asleep in those strong arms, feeling more relaxed and safe than she ever had. Those same arms wrapped around her now, and she turned her head to the side to receive his gentle kiss. Oh yeah, she was so totally in love with him.

*Draws mustache on you while you sleep*

The first thing that Rapunzel noticed when she woke up that morning was the smells, and the songs of the birds. In fact, she felt the urge to just lay there for a few moments, taking it all in, so that’s what she did. After all, there was no one there to stop her anyways. Her mother wasn’t about to just start yelling at her to let down her hair from the bottom of her tower. Not only was her mother out of town anyway, but Rapunzel was no longer in her tower, and she was enjoying every moment of it. She had never realized how nice it was to fall asleep outside and wake up to the birds chirping in her ears, the babbling of the water to her left, the sound of the swaying leaves to her right, the heat of the sun on her face … It was all so relaxing. Nothing was going to ruin this picture perfect moment. Well … except him. He wasn’t even trying to be remotely quiet with the odd noises coming out of his mouth, and it only got worse when she turned on her side to face him, a frown on her lips as she opened her eyes, upset at him for ruining her peace. Her frown changed to a look of confusion as she realized the odd noises were him trying to suppress his laughter. “And just what is so funny?” She asked. Her only answer was Flynn’s laughter getting loud and more uncontrollable. Rapunzel rolled her eyes, there was no way she was going to get an answer out of him in this state. “Fine, keep laughing like a person suffering from insanity. I’m going to go get some water.” She padded over in her bare feet, reaching for the leaf they had found to hold their water and dipping it in. It was only when she saw her reflection in the water that she realized what he found so funny.

“FLYNN!”

“I just had the weirdest dream … And you were in it!”

While Grant knew that there was no logical reason for him to be freaking out about this, he couldn’t help it. What could you have possibly dreamed about that would include him? It had to be something stupid right? Like some ridiculous dream about him in a dress on a mission or falling into a river or something. It couldn’t be anything like the dreams of his she had been starring in lately. It embarrassed him just thinking about all the dreams she had showed up in and what her reaction would be if she knew. There was also another possibility. What if she had some sort of dream about them being soulmates. Grant didn’t know if such a thing was possible, but the thought of it had him tugging his shirt down just a little bit lower. Yes, he wanted Skye to know that they were in fact soulmates and not the many other team members that she had been mentioning trying to figure out who they were. No, he did not want to do it now. They didn’t know each other well enough. The two of them had a rare opportunity to get to know each other before revealing that they were soulmates. It would be better if they got to know each other more. At least that’s what he told himself every time he had the urge to tell her, just like right now. Grant shook those thoughts from his mind, trying to school his face into an expression of disinterest. “Oh really?”

“You can take a nap on me if you want.”

“Oh, I . . . You don’t have to do that.” Rayne could feel the heat already rushing to her face just at the suggestion. She tried really hard to keep her eyes focused on his face and not his bare chest. It was nearly an impossible task. Especially since she had almost no focus left in her for the rest of the day. After all the time on the water, the being carried around and walking around the whole beach pretty much, Rayne was definitely exhausted. At the same time though, she didn’t want to close her eyes because that would mean no more looking at the amazing guy beside her. This had honestly been one of the best days of her life, and she had no desire for that to end any time soon, but at the same time, her eyelids felt so heavy she could barely keep them open. She knew that she wasn’t going to last much longer even through the blasting of the fireworks. Then, almost as if he was encouraging her, she felt James’s hand resting on her back, drawing smooth circles in her skin. The sensation sent shivers down her spine, but was also so relaxing, she felt her eyes closing involuntarily. Almost as if he was putting her under a spell, her head slowly dropped onto his chest, moving up and down gently with the rhythm of his breath. Surprising herself, her hand rested on his chest softly, curling into him even more. “Don’t let me sleep too long okay? I want to see the finale.” Rayne murmured into his chest, and in moments, she was out.

Awww you're so sweet, thank you for enabling me! (Original post is here for anyone who is interested!) Basically, this is an au where cyborg tech has been introduced as a way to stop so many people from dying all the time, but people aren't always really given a choice in whether they get cybernetic implants when they're critically ill or injured.

So Ray and Julie and Carlos move to Small Town SoCal(cause I can't name things), about 3 hours south east of LA, following Rose's death. This is both as a way to have space to grieve and to get away from the super smoggy air of the big city, which contributed to Rose's illness in the first place.

Tia Victoria doesn't move with them, both because of her job and because she and Rose kind of had a fight before she passed over whether she should try the cyborg treatment that had been offered, even though it was super risky. She still calls the kids all the time though.

Julie starts to get settled in her new high school, which is pretty small. Lots of not locals though, it's not an "everybody has known everybody since birth" kind of thing.

Julie ends up reporting everything to her best friend, Flynn, who moved out of the city with her family about a year before Julie did. She lives around an hour away from Julie now. But as Julie gets to know folks at school, she realizes some of them are a bit... weird.

First off there's Carrie, who is clearly rich, but avoids talking about her family. There's definitely a parent or someone else who lives in her big, fancy house, but no one ever sees them.

Spoiler alert, it's Trevor, who is both scared of the outside world after getting pretty sick for a bit, and now has a partially cyborg windpipe. But Carrie is kind of a jerk and it's not till a bit later on that she and Julie start becoming closer cause... grief bonding.

Then you have Alex, who keeps his hood up 24/7 at school, regardless of how many times he gets in trouble for it. Most of the teachers give up and leave him alone after the first week or two, since he never takes it off and he's one of the best students in his classes. He also never eats school food, even when he forgets his own lunch.

Then there's Alex's partner, Willie, who skates basically everywhere but seems to struggle with walking sometimes. He also never puts his hair up, which always strikes Julie as odd, since she's constantly batting her own curls away from her face during school. Willie and Alex always leave school and arrive together, and neither ever mentions family in a present tense.

Next up is Reggie, a math wiz who never seems to stop smiling. He's always acting super upbeat, and ends up being the first one of the group that Julie becomes friends with, cause he starts helping her with math and she helps him with Spanish. He has a hard time with some of the sounds, and sometimes it seems like his jaw just... isn't under his own control. He'll talk sometimes about his parents, who both work full time in other towns and so aren't around much.

Finally, there's Luke, who mostly keeps to himself, except for the guys, and is always talking to himself. He also doesn't eat school food, same as Alex. But he always has nice, homemade lunches from his mom. He kinda confuses Julie, cause he's sullen and moody at school, but he lights up and becomes a totally different person whenever she sees him out with the guys.

More specifics about their injuries and tech stuff under the cut, cause it gets a bit more graphic. TW for medical malpractice stuff, some referenced past homophobia, and some transphobia. The actual anatomical stuff isn't in any real detail cause I don't know how that works mostly, but be safe! It's kinda heavy and messed up.

So as for what is actually going on here with the guys...

Alex and Luke both have super sensitive digestive tracts cause of the only semi functional artificial tissue in their organs following the street dogs thing.

None of the four boys actually consented to their cyborg surgeries. Luke's parents did technically, but he was already in the OR by the time that paperwork got signed. None of the doctors expected any of them to survive, so who cared about consent.

When they all actually pulled through, the government was like, "Oh frick we gotta sweep this under the rug, but also keep them where we can monitor them for science," so they all got somewhat forcibly moved up to Small Town SoCal. All of the parents were offered a fair amount of money to move them up there. Luke and Reggie's parents took it and moved. Willie and Alex's decided they wanted nothing to do with their kids who "weren't really people anymore." So Luke and Reggie live with their parents, while Willie and Alex essentially live in a medical facility just outside of town. There's a few other kids who live there too, since their families wouldn't move with them and they couldn't live on their own. Alex and Willie have kind of adopted Isa, Damian, Aidan, and Dizzy, filling in this older sibling roll for them that no one else will.

Alex's main issue outside of his weak digestive system is that they also tried to 'fix' his anxiety disorder while he was under. This left him with a small, metal plate on the back of his head that his hair won't grow back around, some pretty severe trauma and panic attack disorders, and this weird voice in his head that starts trying to calm him down when he's panicking. It doesn't help. It's basically like if they took one of those meditation apps and tied it to his blood pressure levels so it starts playing in his head whenever he freaks out.

Willie has two prosthetic legs, along with a fair amount of metal/circuitry in his hips and back. While they're a lot better than old prosthetic technology, the attempt to give them nerve endings mostly just means Willie is in a lot of pain all the time. Skating is easier than walking, but they can't really skate inside. Alex has also been known to just straight up carry them sometimes when it gets bad. Willie also has this old incision scar on the back of his neck. Alex is the only one he's actually told what it is. The doctors essentially tried to 'fix' his being trans by messing with part of his brain. It didn't work, obviously, but it did mess with his short term memory.

Reggie avoided super severe organ damage, but the acid in the hotdogs did a lot of damage to his facial muscles. Basically, in order to fix it, he lost a lot of mobility in his face and jaw, so he struggles to not smile at least a bit. It's not creepy, just kind of sad. Like a lot of times he's smiling but it doesn't reach his eyes kind of thing. He also basically lost his sense of smell. He also ended up cracking a couple of ribs from a combination of the hotdog accident and previous injuries, so he has a few metal ribs.

Luke has the same weak digestive system as Alex, though his is easier to manage with a mom who actually cares about him. He packs extra food to share with Alex a lot. But he also got his senses messed up, mainly his hearing. He's hard of hearing, can maybe hear about 25% of what he could before. And it gets confusing, because in trying to limit the hearing loss, the doctors messed up the part of his brain that separates between external sounds and his internal voice. So he can't always tell what is coming from outside and what is coming from inside. So he responds to things that get said around him... but no one actually said it. Hence the appearance of 'talking to himself'.

ANYWAYS NOW THAT THE HEAVY STUFF IS DONE, WE CAN HAVE SOFT BONDING!

Julie befriends Reggie first cause they help each other out in school. He's hesitant to take it outside of school cause the lab monitors them all pretty closely and he doesn't want Julie getting freaked out or mixed up in anything. Doesn't help that she's still in the early stages of grief and will flip between anger and depression at any moment.

But slowly she gets to know the other guys too and finds out about the cyborg stuff. It's quite the shock, but she adjusts faster than they expect. Maybe because she's already had her life turned upside down. She starts hanging out at Luke's after school sometimes with the rest of them. And once they start coming over to the Molinas', it's all over.

The boys all get basically adopted by Ray, and the found family is solidified. Alex and Willie start bringing over the younger kids sometimes too when they can get permission. Carlos and Aidan hit it off and start hanging out at school too.

Luke still writes a ton of lyrics, but melodies have been super hard for him since loosing most of his hearing. But he and Julie end up writing together once and then they're a team for life. She focuses on the melodies while he focuses on lyrics, and then they fine tune it together. They talk Alex and Reggie into playing some of the new songs together, like the guys used to do before the accident.

Carrie and Julie slowly develop their own friendship as well, and she gets pulled into the family eventually. She and Alex and Willie become dance buddies. Willie has a hard time dancing for a long time cause of his prosthetics, but they also really like choreographing, so Carrie and Alex will try out the ideas they have when Willie is too tired to dance.

Just ALL THE FAMILY BONDING AFTER ALL THE TRAUMA THEY'VE BEEN THROUGH!!!

Okay sorry that got VERY long and kinda dark. Probably wasn't what you had in mind. SORRY!!! I shall shut up now. Hope you're not mad!
