re osha and qimir’s first meeting HE’S SOOOOOOO AMUSED the whole time he’s literally trying not to laugh and then he gives her the most aggressive obvious once over and has to pretend he’s not into her. insane

i knooow, it gets funnier every time i rewatch it. his "girl, i know you're lying" face. and dude fails so bad at being subtle. two minutes with his pupil's supposedly dead twin sister and there goes his carefully constructed persona.

My thoughts during and after The Acolyte episode 5 (basically a play-by-play featuring a plethora of emotions).

I wanna know how the sabers fizzled out during the fight. Did it have to do with the orange powder, or was it the force? Oh, it was him slicing the activation switch?

Everyone is dying. Oh, it's a Jedi kebab. XD

I'm still on board with Qimir being the sith. Who else would it be?

I'm in love with the amount of slideshow transitions they have. It's not Star Wars without them.

The acting is a little wonky. I know she's essentially talking to herself, but it throws me off guard.

Isn't it ironic that he has so much darkness in him despite being named "Sol"?

Plot hole: why couldn't they sense that the siblings were swapped? Was it because Sol and Qimir were so distraught?

Just finished watching the newest The Acolyte episode. To quote Jake Peralta:

Why!? What was even the point!? Just to make me cry!?!? Do you want to see me cry???

On the other hand, Qimir being the Sith was literally everything I wanted. The actor does amazing and I knew seeing that darker side of him would hit hard. I mean, the way he manipulated and egged on Sol. Perfection.

BUT NO. I spent half the episode going “Wake up, Osha. You’re dreaming. Wake up. WAKE UP.” Because you cannot give me an awesome Jecki fight scene where she pulls out two sabers and holds her own like the BAMF Padawan she is and Yord actually listening to Osha and turning around and then murder them IN FRONT OF ME.

THAT IS NOT OKAY. I AM NOT OKAY. SNFOFMSBFIFBDIXNsofbdndmddnskdb.

*sighs* I am finishing this to the end because I have thoroughly enjoyed this show BESIDES THE NEEDLESS MURDER OF TWO MAIN CHARACTERS and I understand that death is a part of life and we must all keep moving forward. And they have set up an intriguing twin switch.

But. I will not be watching anymore on Tuesday night and will require spoilers to prepare myself beforehand. Goodness, it is too late for this emotional rollercoaster.

OH YEAH, and they better go back and collect those bodies to give them the pyre funeral they deserve or I will RIOT. Metaphorically. Hopefully. -_-

Okay, my overall thoughts on The Acolyte (spoilers below):

- The story is interesting and I was invested the whole time in knowing how things would play out.

- I kinda guessed Osha would turn dark side but it was still really painful to watch.

- Still grappling with how the situation was reported to the Senate.

- I don't watch shows/movies for fight scenes (ironic, I know, given that Star Wars and the MCU are two of my top favorite franchises), but the fight scenes in this show were REALLY good. Almost on par with what animation accomplishes.

- All that being said, I realize yet again that I just don't enjoy villain origin stories as much as I do other types of stories, so I don't think I'll be revisiting this show very often. Not because of anything it did wrong as a story or show, it just isn't my first choice of story to watch.

- I'm extremely nervous about this one, I'm….not gonna lie. Like in a good way, I think I'm going to enjoy it a lot, but like, tomorrow, when the whole world has seen it, it's gonna be ugly……….Who cares though!

[initial reactions] Star Wars: The Acolyte 1x03 - Destiny

First — Osha and Mae are Nightsisters, we even see an Asajj Ventress/Maul type alien. This will definitely tie back to Ahsoka in some way since we’re reaching back to the roots of the Force/the Thread.

Second, I like this version of the Thread, this coven is definitely a lot more benign than the one other Mother Talzin but you can see why Asajj’s coven turned to darkness because they have been hunted for millenia.

Something happened (and I am not versed in the High republic to know) that it became a requirement that children with the skill with the Force is required to be tested and taught by the Jedi.

The Jedi does not come off well in this but they’re not bad but they’re not coming off well either.

The nightsisters just wanted to be left alone.

I honestly love the deepening of the fantastic and the lore, this connects more to the Mystical side of Star Wars rather than the sci fi side which is more the Andor side.

I like both but I am more into the mystical/fantasy side of Star Wars, I have always been so the deepening of these stories from both Ahsoka and The Acolyte are deeply my speed.

And the last point of all: Now we know why Osha was so angry at Mae, one the other hand I don’t think it was all Mae or Mae at all— there’s definitely a cunning and dangerous Third Party involved. Either mind control happened or shape changing.

It also stands to reason why Sol thought Mae died, and the destruction of the Nightsisters would way on the Jedi involved.

But I definitely think another party was in Brenak during that time, and I pretty much think its because Mae and Osha were showing their power, and they were being noticed.

The way toxic Star Wars fans think George Lucas would and should take back Star Wars is just so eyebrow raising because how dumb are they to forget he hates toxic Star Wars fans after how they acted when he did have Star Wars. Also, even if he was to return, he isn't getting rid of diversity, so these toxic fans would be back to square one eventually when screaming at seeing any character that isn't a white cis straight dude.
