Species Swap-ish AU

Basically in this AU, Garmadon got those recessive genes or smth. Kinda like canon Lloyd, who hasn't showcased any oni-dragon traits until crystalized, Garmadon doesn't have any major traits from those species. The great devourer still bites Garmadon but because he doesn't have the correct genes/dna(idk)like in canon, the 'evil' only manages to make him a little more violent when he's angry and turn his eyes red.

(Maybe the venom ends up helping him shift between his human AND oni form...but Garm doesn't know that yet. Hah, the Overlords plan backfires.)

Nothing more, and he can control the anger pretty well, so yay happy ending instead of being banished by Wu to the underworld for so and so years. As for Lloyd when he's born, THATS ANOTHER LEVEL. All those oni-dragon traits meant for Garmadon is instead passed down to Lloyd via heredity-hence the technically species swap of this AU between them.

His baby teeth are growing sharp, he has oni horns and a oni-dragon tail mix. His eyes also turn red like Garmadon's when he's angry. Lloyd will also be able to poof four arms and wings when he's older but for now HE'S A FERAL CHILD.

Poor normal-ish Garm has to wrangle a chaotic Lloyd around, stop him from accidentally destroying everything with his destruction powers and from fucking BITING people. Garmadon's one of the only people that can make his son calm because Lloyd loves his dad to pieces(and vice versa, lloyd means the world to garm)

Aka adventures of garmadad raising a chaotic dragon oni hybrid lloyd while simultaneously being the best father ever.

Lloyd: Setting stuff on fire with purple flames.

Garmadon, sleep deprived: Oh father, not again.

I want garmadon to come back in dragons rising and hear someone imply that maybe the reason why Lloyd can’t grow a beard is because of genetics so he takes as a challenge. There’s a whole montage of Lloyd and Garmadon trying facial hair growth creams and measuring their “beards” with measuring tape to check for progress. Until months later they’ve managed to grow barely noticeable stubble but it itches so Lloyd shaves his off but garmadon keeps his out of stubbornness.

Alright, question to all the people out there in the Ninjago fandom, am I the only one who will get confused with their voices every so often when their characters are off-screen??? I’m only on episode 4 right now and have already had multiple encounters where either Arin and Lloyd were off-screen, but there was conversation going on from one of them (or both) in the background; there’s been times where they sound EXACTLY THE SAME. Am I just imagining things, or am I not the only one?

Hi.What reactions ninja will have to Tiger Widow stuff in Skybound?Will the encounter with one make Nya remember her true potential or is it just "oh,those can make good food" reaction from Underworld duo?

Skybound is one of the seasons where I have a vague idea of what will happen, but not a whole lot nailed down. Like in cannon a few people have been captured already, and on top of that I think I'm going to have everyone split into two teams almost immediately, after the Lantern Memorial but before Nya actually makes it back to Ninjago.

I have no idea who's already been captured at this point, and other than probably Lloyd being the first family member Nya finds, I'm not sure how everyone is going to be split up, or which group will be doing what.

All this to say, I'm not entirely sure who'se going to be going to Tiger Widow Island, so I'll just list all of the Main cast and what they would be doing if they end up going there

Jay: Doing him first to say that if Jay makes it this far he doesn't get sent after the venom solo bc if he still makes the wishes for money and a big house he doesn't hide it from everyone else bc he has no interest in Nya in VT and a wish for money and a house would be for his parents bc they're not getting any younger and Jay's worried about them. No motivation to lie -> no liar revealed fallout.

Nya: If she doesn't have much of her memory back, she's taking one look at the Tiger Widow, thinking 'hell yeah, lunchtime!' since Tiger Widow is probably her favorite food, and charging. If she does have more of her memory back, then she's a lot more cautious; not for her sake tho.

Lloyd: He all but superglued himself to Nya once they reunited, so he's clinging to her back while she's doing whatever she's doing, whether that's on Tiger Widow Island or not. He would think it's really cool to finally see a Tiger Widow after hearing his dad and sister talk about hunting them, and he's also really glad he's still kinda stuck in his Dragon form bc holy shit they were downplaying how freaky and dangerous Tiger Widows are.

Garm: While answering this ask the image of Garm chokeslamming Nadakhan through a brick wall popped into my head, and now I have a bit of an actual plan for what happens to him, so thank you for that! He is going to be captured by this point; Nadakhan targets him first bc he's the biggest threat to his plans, and also bc Garm's a grieving father who desperately misses his daughter, so he has a glaring weak spot to exploit. But as soon as Nadakhan tries use Garm wanting Nya back to manipulate him, the Oni snaps, going from super depressed to super pissed in .02 seconds. Its been awhile since I've seen Skybound (its my least favorite season despite how much I Love fictional pirates) and I don't remember when/where the lava lamp of doom Sword came from, or how it worked (didn't he like, need them to wish themselves into the sword or something? or did he just like fucking with them?) so lets just pretend that there would be nothing preventing Nadakhan from immediately trapping Garm, he just tried getting him to make wishes for fun and made it two sentences into his 'wish it all away' pitch before nearly dying

Misako: Nothing really phases her anymore, so she just kinda shrugs off the giant spiders. If she's the only parent there she insists on being the one to milk the Tiger Widow. If she's not the only parent she initiates the game of rock paper scissors to decide who's going in.

Ray: Absolutely hates spiders, they gross him out, but if he's the only parent he also insists on being the one to collect the venom.

Maya: Actually kinda excited to see the Tiger Widow. Again, insists on being the one to collect the venom if she's the only parent. And if she isn't the only parent, she grabs the other parents and drags them with her to get the venom as a team.

Kai: If Kai doesn't know that Nya is back, he's laser focused on getting the venom. He and Pixal actually start planning on using the venom to weaken Nadakhan so they can wish for Nya back without him twisting their wish to help him. If he does know that Nya's back, he's more focused on helping her than anything else.

Pixal: Pretty much the same as Kai.

Morro: He would nominate Jay as the one to get the venom, but would probably choose to be the one to get it.

Zane: Would volunteer to get the venom. If I go with Oppo, he's also picked up on the fact that Kai is planning something and he's keeping a concerned eye on him. If I don't go with Oppo, than Zane has turned his emotions way down, which means he would try and insist that he be the one to get the venom, as he's rebuildable and therefore the most logical choice.

Cole: Other than not being mad at Jay, unless I go with Lava the only thing that changes for Cole is him not being a ghost. If I go with Lava than he's the one who picks up on Kai planning something and is keeping a concerned eye on him.

The other ninja tend to be wary of Garmadon whenever he goes into full dragon mode, especially after seeing how volatile he can be towards anyone unfortunate enough to upset Lloyd. Garmadon gets along with Cole the most, as he appreciates him tending to Wu when he was reduced to a baby

He loves to spook Jay just for fun and Kai and Zane he tends to curl up against to either cool off or heat up. He does sometimes tend to get a bit unhinged when it comes to missions, telling them to bite and scratch if they deal with threats

Lloyd having to witness loosing his loved one in the worst way possible, death is simple, you grieve, but Garmadon isnt dead, BUT hes not lloyds father anymore. Hes still “there” but hes not, hes a completely new man, but not the man who loves lloyd. Maybe hes even learning to be good again, but hes still not lloyds father. He could be a hero, but in the end hes not lloyds father.

Lloyd lost his father but JUST his father, he didnt loose ´Garmadon’ just his father

I mean, this AU’s still in its planning phase. Anything can change, since this is only the second draft-up. It’s always good to talk with others about ideas, because it makes it easier to figure out what you want to do, how you want to do it. Even talking aloud can help because getting the idea outside your head and hearing it can help improve and change it as needed.

MK’s Kaiju form doesn’t really change? I don’t know how to add to that perfection.

It takes everyone a lot of time to perfect learning Spinjitzu, but in the end the payout is immense since they’ve now gained a powerful ability. I did also plan on the Spinjitzu tornadoes changing once they unlocked the Full Potential. Like with Red Son’s Spinjitzu tornado color being more colorful as the color changes base from red to white with different fiery colors, like the dragons’ fire in Avatar: The Last Airbender.

The bonding is a fun filler time weekend. Why have just action when you can also have fluff and family bonding?

I’ll only tell you this here. MK’s got cousins from his mom’s side in Ninjago. Distant cousins but cousins nonetheless. And that changes things immensely. =3

Also more GarmaDad moments happen over in Ninjago, so there’s also that.

The powers of self-reflection and realization are very powerful indeed but are unfortunately often underestimated.

Mm, not too differently, I think? MK still struggles with his identity. He’s got a lot of issues in figuring out his identity as the Monkie Kid, successor to the Monkey King. And not just that. MK had been called a monster, among other things, growing up, all because of how he looked. What’s that supposed to mean for him that his father is actually evil? Would MK and Lloyd turn evil too because of a chance of inheriting the curse that their father is under? Is he just making a mess of things by being the Monkie Kid instead of just being MK? And what even is being MK supposed to mean? MK’s got a lot of insecurities. So Reflection helps him in remembering that he’s also got people, people that he counts on just as they count on him, and that nobody’s too sure who they’re going to be until they’re already living that life. And that taking down the Spider Queen is one step in figuring himself out, especially because of the hostages she’s holding.

Garmadon and Wukong regularly talk. Because of that, Wukong is able to communicate better with others, and so he doesn’t go off by himself in the hopes of finding a way to stop LBD. The Samadhi Rings are still collected, but the plan is properly communicated with Wukong’s self-sacrificial bullshit long since nixed ever since the brothers took a sledgehammer to the walls around his heart.

Lloyd can and will swear if given even an inch to run a mile with. It’s hilarious what kind of swears he strings together.

Outside of that, I did plan a moment for where Wukong and Macaque visit the grave of their son. The child they never knew and never got to meet, but all the same are so proud of because of the life he lived and the family he had.

Did TD!Sensei Garm ever have a very bad incident with Oni Lloyd, one where it took some time to calm Lloyd down? Like, did something or someone piss Lloyd off enough to make him go full Oni? And if so, how did Garmadad handle it?

Garmadon immediately assumed the worst, that his oni side had corrupted him. He believes Lloyd's oni side is a cursed reminder of when he was bitten

While Garmadon's oni side believes Lloyd's dragon side as... Well, he seemed to forgot it existed, much like everyone in Crystalized
