summary: While there are definite perks to being a military pharmacist (a steady job, respectful patients, and a comfortable income), there are some downsides. At first, you don't mind the newest addition to your routine, a recruit who visits and makes light conversation, but the 141 recognizes he might not be just an innocent patient.
pairing: Task Force 141 x pharmacist!Reader

Week 13, the last to final week for the newest Army recruits. It was better known as Attack Week. Everyone was familiar with the time as it was an entire week the recruits would put their newly learned skills to the test and experience the adrenaline of the battlefield. This was your 5th one as a pharmacist so you knew the drill. You hummed as you checked over your items. It was all hands on deck as the number of injuries was high and you were preparing for the newest scripts and deliveries to the infirmary. "Here they come," your technician called out as you heard the printer whir with the amounts of newly verified scripts. "Just on time," you said as you looked down at your watch. "You fill and I'll verify," you commented to him as you settled down at the computer, "hopefully there isn't too many DUR's and I can help with the queue." Through the corner of your eye, you could see the tech say a silent prayer before he went to retrieve the medications from the aisle.
Thankfully, there hadn't been too many scripts requiring extra clarification or absolute contraindications. You took the bin of recently filled prescriptions and walked over to the window filled with waiting young faces. "Good morning," you smiled at the teenager who couldn't be more than 18 standing in front of you. "Morning, Captain," she replied formally, "Alexandra Davidson." "Alright, Alexandra give me a moment and I'll give you your goodie bag," you joked and you could see her serious expression crack with a smile. That was how the majority of the morning went, fresh new faces and minimum conversation as they all feared their superiors. You knew the experienced soldier avoided the pharmacy unless absolutely necessary. Around 12, you saw some familiar faces and gave a small wave to the 141 as they passed to the mess hall. "Doin' great, Cap," Soap called and you forced a smile on your tired face. Around 1:30 you closed for a break and quickly scarfed down a sandwich and cup of soup before the clock struck 2.
When you walked back to the window, the line had gone down significantly and more familiar faces began to appear in the queue. "Hello there," a young man said and you recognized he was one of the newest recruits. His eyes scanned your figure as he looked down at you but you just brushed it off. "Good afternoon," you replied, "name?" He smiled and leaned on the counter before replying, "Jason Powell." "Alright, Jason," you smiled as you pulled up his file. You looked to the right and saw the bin his bag right on top. "I have yours right here," you said and handed it to him. "Must be my lucky day," he smirked as you gave him the bag. As he looked at it, he had a curious expression on his face. "Is something wrong?" you asked as he opened it to hold the small blister pack. "This is embarrassing, Captain, but I've never had to go to the chemist's before," he said sheepishly and you listened intently, "how-how do I take these?"
You were no stranger to patient counseling and in fact, loved giving your mini-lecture whenever someone needed it. "Oh don't worry!" you replied as you looked up at him, "this is paracetamol probably because of an injury on the field?" He nodded in response and you continued. "It'll help with any aches or pains you have. What you want to do is take one of the capsules and drink it with water," you explained, "You can take it every 4 to 6 hours but remember to take no more than 8 in a 24hr period." With that, you smiled and he thanked you before leaving. After a few more patients, Gaz finally came to the front to pick up some paracetamol and antihistamines. "The young recruit had a lot of questions," he remarked as you went to retrieve his prescription. "Never took a pill before so I was happy to explain," you said and handed him his bag of pills. "Watch out for them, this new batch is something else," he commented and left the pharmacy with that ominous statement.
He might have been correct as the same recruit kept appearing at your pharmacy for the next week. First, it was for a dose change because his pain was still severe from his sprained wrist. "Still the same way to take these," you joked as you handed the bag to him and he held your hand gently. "Thank you as always, Captain," he replied and you ignored the confused look from Soap who was right behind him. "Just a nice kid," you sighed before you entered your own long conversation with the Scotsman.
The next day, you sighed as Jason appeared at your window. "Another dose change?" you asked as you hated seeing repeat customers, especially for something that wasn't a prophylaxis treatment. He shook his head before replying. "Heard this was the place to let you know I think I have a penicillin allergy," he responded and you sighed. Price was only behind him in the queue and nodded as you apologized that adding an allergy would take a moment. As you typed it into his file and marked it so the appropriate individuals would note it, you couldn't help but wonder why he was here. "The medical wing does know they can add this in themselves? Hate to have you come all this way," you muttered and you failed to catch his small smirk. "I don't mind at all, just means I get to see you!" he replied happily and you returned his cheery demeanor. "Well you'll all set now, shouldn't need you to come down unless you need a refill," you replied and he waved before exiting.
"I thought it was a rumor, but I believe my sergeants when they say that little one fancies you," Price joked and you rolled your eyes before finding his bag. As you checked to verify the correct amount of bottles, you couldn't believe he was feeding into this. "He just has lots of questions and wants to get the best care the military can offer," you corrected but Price raised an eyebrow. "Captain, there's a fine line between stupidity and acting like an idiot to flirt," he clarified, "you should've seen what recruits do when they see Lt. Riley walking their way." You both shared a laugh as there were plenty of stories of those who fancied the tall, mysterious man. "They may like Lt. Riley but that changes on a dime when Ghost appears," you added and Price nodded in response. "Took the words right out of my mouth, Captain."
The final straw was when he returned for a fourth time. "Hello again, Jason," you said with a tired smile, "what can I do for you?" "Just wanted to say hi to my favorite pharmacist," he mused and you tried to hide your slight annoyance. "Well, here's your hello," you responded and his optimism faltered, "sorry, just been a long day." "Can I do anything to make it better?" he flirted and smoothed out his non-existent short hair. "You can by leaving them alone," Ghost suddenly spoke and you realized he was next in the small queue. "And why would I do that?" he challenged as he turned to Ghost. Ghost was in his uniform exercise gear and there was no display of his rank. You couldn't help but smirk when Ghost walked forward and stood a full head above him.
"What are you a recruit?" Ghost commanded and he nodded with fervor. "Then, I expect you to get out of here," he continued but the receipt stayed in place. "You're not my commanding officer so I don't see why I need to listen to you," he replied and you could practically see the veins appear on his forehead. Before he could say anything further, the rest of the 141 entered with Price in uniform and Gaz and Soap in their gym attire. "Something a matter here, gentleman?" Price asked as he walked up to you. Before you could respond, Ghost spoke up. "This recruit here thinks its funny to bother our pharmacist," he muttered and the recite stood taller and straighter seeing the Captain rank on Price's uniform. "Well then," Price began, "I don't think it's appropriate for you to be here any longer, Jason." He was just about to reply when Price cut him off. "And you should show some respect, your pharmacist is not someone to be flirted with and is an out-ranking Captain to you," he said, motioning to you, "and this here is Lieutenant Riley." Jason looked like he was about to cry when he said that. "So if you don't want your life to be a living hell, you should leave," Soap interjected and the recruit ran out of the pharmacy.
When he was gone, you all shared a long laugh. "I thought you were about to pummel him with your paracetamol,"' you said through giggles as you began to relax. "Is this a good time to say I told you so?" Gaz questioned with a smirk and you rolled your eyes. "Thanks for saving the day as always," you breathed out. You noticed the time and saw it was right when you closed the pharmacy for lunch. "I'm actually off to lunch if you would like to join," you offered, "could use the company!" They all nodded and you went about closing the pharmacy down. As you grabbed your lunch bag and pulled down the gate, you smiled seeing them waiting for you. You walked in stride with them to the mess hall before someone spoke up. "You should wear a wedding ring, it'll save you the trouble next time," Soap piped up and you shot him a look. "No, I think that'll invite more questions unless one of you lot can reasonably act like my spouse," you said as you laughed slightly. Before anyone else could respond, you added to your initial statement. "On second thought, I don't think I could marry any one of you," you mused, much to their disappointment, "heard that KorTac guy has a pretty successful sibling that's a doctor."

FAQ (´,,•ω•,,)♡
Because It seems like I've got a sudden wave of followers, here are some FAQs! °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°
1. What hardware and software do you use?
Hardware : My laptop is Lenovo Legion Y7000, for drawing I use Wacom Cintiq 16.
Software : Clip Studio Paint EX
2. What brushes do you use?
For line art I use JiWa Pen (downloaded it on Clip Studio Assets) It's a textured pen rather than a very smooth one. I think it gives more character since I'm line art-based)
Tumblr media
For the coloring brush I use just a flat oil paint brush and just the plain ol' blender. Nothing special.
3. How long have you been drawing?
I've been drawing since I was 4 years old. Now I'm 20 so I guess I've been drawing for 16 years now. Still a lot to learn tho.
4. Who are your inspirations in drawing?
for linearting : Yuto Sano (author of Lawless Kids), Tite Kubo (author of Bleach)
for coloring : Kim Jung Hyun (Artist of manhwas Riot, Viral Hit, and Brave Citizen).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
art by Yuto Sano (left), Tite Kubo (center), and Kim Jung Hyun (right)
If you see my artstyle, it's kinda the mix of these three.
5. Do you go to art school?
Yes I do! I'm majoring in Visual Communication Design in Bandung Institute of Technology. Going strong on 5th semester right now!
5. Do you take requests?
Sometimes I do. You're very welcome to send prompts or stuff in my asks, but remember that I'm not obligated to do it. I will do it when it piqued my interest and when I have the time.
6. Can we use your art as headers/icons/etc?
Yes you can! Just remember to CREDIT me in your bio @sleepyconfusedpotato I work hard on that thing ( `ε´ )
7. Can we buy your fanart or anything posted in your blog? How about commissions?
All of my arts on this blog is NOT for sale nor I am interested in monetizing it. This blog is just a way of me having fun with my fav video games. I am a professional artist in real life but this is also my hobby and it makes me happy.
For commissions, yes sometimes I do. Currently it's closed.
8. But I really love you art and I would really love to print it!
I'm deeply honored that my art is loved by you, and you have my permission to save my art and print it. What you're NOT allowed to do use it to make money by reselling on merch sites for profit, reposting it, or claiming it as yours. If you do that Imma haunt you in your dreams ٩(ఠ益ఠ)۶ (jk but please have mercy on me).
If you want to print it, please, be my guest. If you do post it tag me tho I'd love to see it LMFAO (´꒳`)♡
9. How do you deal with artblock?
Sleep. Eat. Watch some wholesome feel good romance movies. Art block means your brain is deep fried 10 times over. Do something else other than drawing. When I'm ready to draw again, I force through it. No easy way out.
10. How do you motivate yourself to improve?
This might not work for some people, but I do it with self bashing LMFAO. I just tell myself that my drawing SUCKS and is UGLY AF people don't wanna even double tap it JSGAHAGGS 😂
So I practice and try to GIT GUD. No shortcut ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ

𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒: ‘ 𝐂𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐆𝐎𝐀𝐓 ’ 𝐇𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐋𝐄𝐑 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐌𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆. 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐘 𝐒𝐔𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐂𝐓𝐒 𝐅𝐎𝐔𝐋 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐘 –––
After the very first day and night of Lughnasadh revelry, Mr. Cecil Ashby Norris, Esq. along with his brooding assistant and this year’s surprisingly popular goat king failed to appear at their station on Wednesday, August 2nd, 1950, the second day of the festival. After further inquiry, the festival committee and overseers were informed that Mr. Norris had not been seen at his home since he and his crew left on August 1st, sometime before sunrise. Although forty-eight hours have not yet passed, due to the recent uptick in missing persons cases, the Auror offices have informed our writers that they are treating the case with the utmost solemnity, and plan to carry out their investigation with as much speed and success as they possibly can. Mrs. Cecil Norris declined to comment when the writers reached out.
𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐀 𝐅𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐀𝐋 𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐄? 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐘 𝐎𝐅 𝐌𝐀𝐆𝐈𝐂 𝐖𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃 𝐋𝐈𝐊𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐓𝐎 𝐒𝐔𝐁𝐌𝐈𝐓 𝐀𝐍 𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋 𝐏𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐎𝐍𝐀𝐋 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐄𝐍𝐓.
After the infamous interruption of the yet-to-be-found Ms. Fawley’s trial, the Auror offices feel inclined to take missing persons cases, even potential ones, quite seriously. In order to carry out their investigation as best they can, they now turn to the public and ask for their participation. All wixen who attended the festival are hereby requested to submit an official personal statement by owl. THE STATEMENT MUST INCLUDE: an estimation of when they attended the festival, whether or not they approached the goat king and his handler, to state their whereabouts during the period of time between August 1st, 9PM and August 2nd, 12AM, and finally to name another person who may be able to corroborate and verify the your statement.

It seems the public are not the only ones affected by current events. Our sources say the current members of Wizengamot seem to be looking to tighten their inner circle, although the specifics of this rumored new legislation and whether or not they will affect the public peace have yet to be revealed. Continue reading about this story on page 117, where guest writer Griselda Hopkins poses her special insight, citing blood relation to a real seer!
𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐄𝐄 𝐌𝐔𝐆𝐆𝐋𝐄 𝐂𝐇𝐈𝐋𝐃𝐑𝐄𝐍 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐄𝐃𝐋𝐘 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐀 𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐍𝐂𝐄. 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐔𝐋𝐓𝐒 𝐖𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐏𝐎𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐓 𝐄𝐍𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇 𝐓𝐎 𝐒𝐄𝐓 𝐎𝐅𝐅 𝐌𝐔𝐋𝐓𝐈𝐏𝐋𝐄 𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐒𝐓𝐑𝐘 𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐑𝐌𝐒.
Three muggle children in Bristol successfully conducted a seance last Thursday evening. Our source from the Ministry has informed us that the spirit or being these muggles called forth must have had a great deal of unfinished business in the mortal realm, making it easy for even a few magic-less tweens to lure it back from the spiritual realm. The Minister of Magic has forgone a public statement, and when we reached out to his offices, his secretary waved it off as a result of a nearby burst of accidental magic by a previously unregistered muggleborn. We believe that our readers are smarter than that, and to them we pose the question of this spirit’s identity. Could it be one of the missing or murdered purebloods? If so, are they here to provide the missing piece of the mystery that’s stumped the Ministry for months?
AND SO CONTINUES BOOK ONE, CHAPTER ONE.
Thank you to all of the players who participated in BURIAL SOCIETY’S first event! You may continue regular on-dash interactions in the wake of the memorial and festival. You do not have to base any of your threads on the information in this plot drop–– however, anyone who wants their character(s) to react to these headlines may feel free to do so. All players are asked to submit their character(s) personal statements according to the specifications outlined above to the main’s submit by SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 5th, 2020. If your character does not have a solid alibi for the period of time between August 1st, 9PM and August 2nd, 12AM, they may falsify information. If your character does have a solid alibi but wishes to lie anyway, that’s also an option. If you didn’t get a chance to interact with Cecil but you think your character would have approached him and/or the goat at some point anyway, feel free to state that your character interacted with them.
PLEASE NOTE! Even outside of the event, if you do not ward your in-character interactions by specifying in the header of the post that it is warded or private, anything that transpires within the thread may be heard by keenly listening ears...
As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please send in an owl or pose them in our server’s #queries channel.

Cheer up emo R/J
For @coppercrane2 specifically because she wanted this scene but also for whoever else wants it and needs some R/J cheer up emo.
**
If JFK is a post-apocalyptic wasteland where manners and dreams went to die, LAX is simply a clusterfuck. Raven Fletcher isn’t stupid enough to mean-mug the smarmy-looking TSA agent at the end of the line, not exactly, but the smile in place on her face is about as gruesome as Heath Ledger’s Joker. She had the whole system down pat by now-- plastic bag of toiletries, no belt, no hat, no jacket, no sunglasses, shoes that could easily be slipped off and on, no electronics and items in the pockets-- but the whole process is a drag, anyway. And of course, they still always gave her crap, and this time is no exception.
“What were you doing in LA?”
“Meeting up with some clients in the industry, catching up, making plans for New York Fashion Week.”
“So you live in New York, then?”
“Yeah. I thought it says so on my license.” And moreover, she certainly didn’t sound like a Californian, now did she?
The TSA agent gives her a warning look; her sass is clearly not appreciated, and undoubtedly he’d use it as an excuse to make her suffer in the next five to ten minutes and probably go through every last bit of her bags, down to counting how many tampons she stashed in and probably testing her makeup wipes to ensure that nothing was radioactive. Raven bites her tongue and tries not to roll her eyes as he beckons over a female officer to pat her down even as he paws through all her belongings. He shakes out a Dior dress that’s tucked into her garment bag that’s likely worth more than the X-ray machine that the bag just passed through, and Raven wants to ask that he change his damn gloves first, but at this rate, if he goes any slower, she’d miss her connection. Sunny weather or not, she’d be damned if she got stuck in LA for another day.
Finally, the ordeal comes to an end, which leaves her roughly half an hour to get from one end of the airport to the other on four-inch Louboutins. Raven has no problem with mowing through crowds-- sharp elbows and the aggressive New Yorker walk does wonders-- but to have to do so just to get to her gate in time is aggravating when it was certainly not her fault that the security check took so long. She certainly couldn’t just crumple up the damned Dior and stuff it back into the garment bag-- she had a client dinner right after getting back in town, and on no planet did Raven Fletcher appear at such events anything less than perfectly dressed and groomed.
There’s the moving walkway up ahead, and she strides on, a woman on a mission, long legs eating up the length of the conveyor. Raven is a petite woman, five-foot-four before the stiletto heels and too short for the modeling work that she immerses herself in dealing with on a daily basis, but she’s leggy, and can walk, jog and possibly do step aerobics in heels with the best of them. She steps off at the end of the moving walkway, leading with her shoulders, and smacks painfully into a solid male chest.
“I’m so sorry. Are you all right, miss?” A pair of big hands wrap around her elbows and pull her up, and had she landed any harder, she probably would have broken a thousand-dollar heel, and perhaps an ankle. Raven looks up from legs clad in casual gray chinos to a torso in blue tweed, with brown elbow patches, up into an almost-unforgivably handsome face, all golden California tan and tousled, sun-bleached blond hair, wearing horn-rimmed glasses over his baby blues. And... headphones. Of course. Because it would certainly be too much to ask for a man to be too perfect, so this particular specimen had to be moseying through the airport deaf to his surroundings like an oblivious moron.
“I would be better if you were watching where you were going, but forget about it.” She bypasses the hand he holds out to help her up, and snags both her garment bag and her briefcase. Her ankle gives her a twinge as she stands up, but she stalks off without a backward glance. If she hurried, she’d have just enough time to pop into the Starbucks by her gate for a quad venti iced macchiato to wash down the Excedrin before getting on the plane.
The boarding process, after she reaches her gate, and where someone else might have passed their time sleeping or watching a movie or two on the five-hour flight, Raven opens her briefcase after the plane reaches cruising altitude to organize her files for the upcoming client dinner. Not that there is much to do, really, because Morgan Austen, even at age seventeen, didn’t exactly require much of an introduction. Blonde and willowy and charming and self-assured, the girl’s celebrity background might have gotten her in the door, but she’d certainly lived up to all the hype. Only too often were the celebrity actor-model types unforgivably uppity and spoiled, and while a small, petty part of Raven enjoyed putting them in their place as needed, it always came as a pleasant surprise when someone didn’t have to get told off for their own good.
Her heart gives a pitter-patter, though, when she reaches inside the bag and feels, underneath her manicured fingertips, a bunch of manila folders rather than the sleek leather portfolio that should be contained in that compartment. Cautiously, she draws out the papers, then only barely manages to avoid swearing loudly and noticeably in the airplane cabin.
“You’ve got to be freaking kidding me. This is a joke. A really bad joke.”
In place of the carefully-curated and prepped collection of headshots and polaroids of Morgan Austen is a collection of lab reports, all with the header of ‘153BH, UCLA/Huntley’. Raven has exactly zero interest in the subject of Nucleotide Metabolism, and the worst part about it is the fact that she has a whole three and a half hours before the plane lands and she can even get on her phone to do something about this mishap.
It’s the longest three and a half hours of her life, feels like, and she pulls out her cell phone almost before the flight attendants turn off the seatbelt sign, calls the agency to postpone the dinner with the rep from Michael Kors.
“Yeah, there’s been a problem with my bag. Stupid LAX. Can you just... tell them my flight was delayed, or something? They’ll be a-o-fucking-kay because they’re getting Morgan Austen to walk their damn show in a month and it’ll be the biggest thing to happen to them since dude designed Michelle Obama’s official portrait dress. Thanks, Luna. You’re a whole bag of organic non-GMO peaches. And... someone’s calling, and it’s a 310 area code, so I’m going to let you go.”
She recognizes the area code as Los Angeles, of course, and expects that it’s some minion from some customer service desk in LAX reporting that they’d found her bag, but the voice which comes through is male and sounds oddly familiar, with that faint Calfornian drawl. “Am I speaking to Ms. Raven Fletcher?”
“Yeah. Who’s this?”
“My name is Jude Huntley, and we bumped into each other at the airport? I seem to have your work bag rather than mine.” The tone is summery-smooth and apologetic, the cadence quick yet lacking the almost-harsh briskness of Manhattan. “It’s entirely my fault, and I’m going to get your bag back to you, but could you tell me where you’d like to pick it up?”
“Well, if you can’t tell, I’m kinda on the opposite coast to you now, buddy. Elite Models, New York, New York. We’re on 5th Avenue.” He doesn’t seem at all fazed by her slightly snotty tone, which takes the wind out of her sails, just a little. “Look, pal, if you want to send off my bag to New York, that’d be great. I can do the same with yours. UCLA, right? At least it’s summertime. Hopefully school’s out for you. Shitty time for me to lose my bag because summer’s prime time for campaigns, but it’s not like my stuff can just magically appear overnight.” All around her, people are rising up from their seats, and Raven scowls at nothing in particular. “I gotta get off the plane. Look, since you clearly got my number from my card, you can get the address, too. I’ll get your bag back to you as soon as I can.”
She hangs up, and seethes from the gate all the way to the taxi stand and then all the way to her apartment, before kicking off the heels and unapologetically ordering pizza delivery, to be consumed with wine while soaking in the tub. After the day she’d had, it was the least she deserved.
**
Raven arrives at the agency at eight o’clock sharp the next morning, with the briefcase-that-is-not-hers in one hand, a giant to-go cup of coffee in the other, and spends the first hour of her day making a phone call to the reps at Michael Kors to explain her bag mishap and reschedule the dinner meeting. Thankfully, Morgan Austen’s name is enough to negate any wrath which might have been incurred at the inconvenience, and, crisis averted, she’s just about ready to schedule a conference call-- with a talent scout out in BFE, Cornfields, Small-town USA somewhere-or-another-- when her assistant Phoebe knocks on the door. The diminuitive brunette has a peculiar look in her beady eyes.
“Someone’s here to see you. No appointment. Great face but I doubt he’s a model, unless he’s doing some sort of ad for Geek Chic. Says his name is Jude. Do you know a Jude? I didn’t think you knew a Jude, though this guy’s sort of got the hot younger Jude Law thing going on so...”
Raven’s eyebrows shoot up to her hairline. She’s only made the acquaintance of one individual by that name, and certainly Phoebe is wrong. There is no freaking way that the man from the airport in Los Angeles was actually in New York at this very second. She waves in a vague manner at Phoebe, who takes it as assent to let him in, and then her jaw drops. It’s the man from the airport, all right. Still wearing his tweed jacket and his horn-rimmed glasses, but now sporting dark-blond five-o’clock shadow like gold dust smudged against his chiseled jaw and deep shadows under those blue eyes. But his lips quirk into a smile when he sees her, and he holds out her bag, like an olive branch.
“You asked for it to be overnighted, didn’t you? I took the red-eye over.”
“But--- but---why?” Flying a red-eye from coast to coast is the worst, and doing so on standby just seemed like her own idea of Hell on Earth. “You could’ve just dropped it off at a FedEx. I...” She had barely been civil to him on the phone, and definitely was on the wrong side of rude when they’d bumped into each other at the airport. Under no circumstance could Raven see a reason for a man-- especially one who looked as though he had a job and a life well on the other side of the country-- to drop everything just to bring her her bag back in person.
But rather than give her a hard time, the man named Jude smiles, and it’s a great smile, with a dimple in both cheeks and in the chin. Geek chic indeed... “Well, I need those lab reports back, too. Summer class. I have a commitment to my students to get it back to them by Friday, and they’re kind of time consuming to grade. Call it an impulse, I guess.” He’s still holding out her bag, and this time she takes it, and belatedly hands him his own. “Anyway, let’s start over again. My name is Jude Huntley, and I’m an assistant professor at UCLA’s Chemistry department.”
“Raven Fletcher. I’m an agent here at Elite Models. Nice to meet you.” Two almost-identical bags switch hands, just before his fingers close around hers, and the touch is warm and sharp with the brush of static electricity. Raven’s fairly sure that her spine is, metaphorically speaking, stainless steel. And yet a shiver works its way up and down as he holds on for just a moment too long, and a decidedly unfamiliar warmth creeps up into her cheeks as he smiles at her again.
“The pleasure is definitely all mine.”

How George Camposos Jr. Can Beat Davin Haney
He relinquished his lightweight titles after the first defeat of his career after adopting a style that wouldn’t be enough to oust American sensation Haney, who worked his way to the undisputed championship. loading The rematch comes four months later, with Camposos insisting he has a plan to reclaim his titles. The first step is to get an injection of HANI. Haney landed 78 in her first encounter, as he routinely picked Kambosos to secure a unanimous decision after 12 rounds. Landed 147 hits that night. Kambosos is connected to only 100. For context, he landed 182 punches in his surprise win over Teofimo Lopez to take his lightweight titles last year. Boxing legend Jeff Fenech says Camposos needs to ramp up his excitement when he steps into the ring on Sunday. “Think to myself—when I fought Jerome Coffey, when I fought Steve McCrory, when I fought Greg Richardson—these guys were fast, great boxers. Pressure isn’t being hit, it’s the thought of hitting,” Fenech said. George Camposos and Devin Haney will meet again on Sunday.attributed to him:GT “[Kambosos] He should be doing a lot more than he did the first time, that’s for sure. He must risk to get reward, and he must be prepared to do so. He talks about the symbol of the warrior, and if he fights like a warrior, it is an opportunity. If he allows Hanyi to keep his distance and do whatever he wants again, he won’t stand a chance.” Hani is faster than Camposus. He showed a lot in their first fight in front of over 41,000 fans. But timing can beat speed. A fighter can only walk in the rain for a long time without getting wet. The challenger showed that when he sent shock waves through Madison Square Garden by taking down Lopez with a perfectly timed header in the opening round. Now he has to strike a balance between timing and urgency, his father was confident the new angle could bring success after Camposos linked up with former coach Chris Backis and split from Javel Centeno. “Sure, that’s one of the changes,” Jim Camposos said. “We had no urgency in the corner, the coach did not carry out the correct instructions for George. We wouldn’t blame the coach entirely but that was part of the adjustments we made. “This time we have an all-Australian team, we have contacted our old coach George Kahn 14-0 [under] in Australia. George has a fire in his stomach. Come Sunday, you’ll be a completely different corner with a lot of urgency, and a completely different George Camposos.” Perhaps the greatest thing that works for Kambosos is the underdog mark. Standing here is a man who had to sell tickets for a 500-seat show at the Croatian club in Punchbowl, smelling smoke from the poki machines and food at the bistro as he walked to the ring. No longer the world champion, Kambosos was written off. loading “It was kind of like I’ve been the underdog for most of my career, I’ve been pretty out of reach for a lot of my career,” Camposos said. “This time it feels familiar, it’s great. I’m in a good position and I’ve done the work. I know what I’ve done and I know I’m going to win this fight and get my championship belts back.” Watch the Sonny Bill Williams vs. Mark Hunt match live and exclusive at the Stan Event on Saturday, November 5th. Upcoming Summer Book Releases By Latinx Authors
Tumblr media
[image description: orange and yellow header that reads “latinx summer reads 2018″ with two woman dancing emojis flanking text]
Hello! May is almost over, which means that in Puerto Rico summer’s arrived (officially... it’s hot all the time). Therefore, I gathered a list of books that will be released from June 1st to August 31st, just in time for you to catch up with your Summer Reads. This is by no means comprehensive, just some I could find in various genres and reading categories (there’s some LitFic, YA, MG, along with some other ones in this list).
Bruja Born (Brooklyn Brujas #2) by Zoraida Cordova: The sequel to the critically acclaimed Labyrinth Lost, this book follows Lula Mortiz’s struggle with the fact that she came back scarred (...quite literally) after her unwanted stay in Los Lagos as well as the fact that her boyfriend and her classmates die in a car accident. That’s A Lot! But with her healing powers, she’s trying to fix things! If fixing things means bringing them back from the dead, that is. And sometimes things don’t want to come back... (Release Date: June 5th, 2018)
Fruit of the Drunken Tree by Ingrid Rojas Contreras: Set in Colombia during the 1990′s reign of Pablo Escobar, two different girls come of age in a world surrounded by violence, sacrifice, and betrayal. This is Rojas Contreras’s debut novel, and the cover and plot look lush and enticing. (Release Date: July 31st, 2018)
Lucky Luna by Diana Lopez: This middle grade deals with Luna Ramos, a mischievous fifth grader who loves her hats (*Funky Hat from Wizards of Waverly Place starts playing*). However, after acting naughty during her cousin’s Quinces, she’s banned by her family from ever wearing hats (NOOOO!). To make matters worse, Luna’s cousin, Claudia, is transferring to her class. (Release Date: August 28th, 2018)
Love War Stories by Ivelisse Rodriguez: A collection of stories written by a Puerto Rican author (wepaaa!), this collection deals with love, heartbreak, hope, and survival in the face of trauma. Most importantly, the book deals with the power that Puerto Rican women have in each other and in their stories. (Release Date: July 10th, 2018)
Sweet Black Waves by Kristina Perez: This YA retelling of the tale of Tristan and Eseult is told from the perspective of Branwen. In this novel, Branwen is a lady-in-waiting for the princess when her healing powers are awakened, leading to dreams of peace as well as possible betrayal. (Release Date: June 5th, 2018)
The Fall of Innocence by Jenny Torres Sanchez: A Contemporary YA dealing with the repercussions of trauma and assault, this text is incredibly important at this time. There aren’t many books that deal with a Latina teen’s experiences with assault, which is actually a part of the systemic machista culture we’re brought up with. I’m looking forward to this book. (Release date: June 12th, 2018)
Flor and Miranda Steal the Show by Jennifer Torres: In this middle-grade about family and friendship, Flor and Miranda have opposite desires: Flor is the daughter of a zoo owner on the brink of downsizing to make room for a music group’s stage; and Miranda is the lead singer of said music group. Will they be able to sabotage each other’s wants and still be friends? Or will they be willing to risk it all? (Release Date: June 12th, 2018)
My Year in the Middle by Lila Quintero Weaver: Lu Olivera sits in the middle row in Miss Garrett’s 6th Grade classroom. In the 1970′s, when Black and White segregation was still pretty explicit and enforced, Lu must decide whether to literally cross the racial divide by befriending Belinda Gresham, or continue maintaining the status quo. An interesting take on race and the intersections of oppression, this is one historical fiction I’ll have my eyes out for. (Release Date: July 10th, 2018)
A Gift from Abuela by Cecilia Ruiz: This picture book deals with the love and connection between an Abuela and her grandchild. It seems full of tender moments and the art was done by the author as well! (We love a multi-threat Latina) [Release Date: August 7th, 2018 (MY BIRTHDAY!)]
Marcus Vega Doesn't Speak Spanish by Pablo Cartaya: If Cartaya’s name sounds familiar, it’s because he’s the one who wrote the widely lauded The Epic Fail of Arturo Zamora. Marcus Vega’s story follows him as his family travels to Puerto Rico and they road trip around the island in search of Marcus’s father. This is a middle-grade novel you don’t want to miss. (Release Date: August 21st, 2018)
There’s No Base Like Home by Jessica Mendoza and Alana Mendoza Dusan: Written by a dynamic-duo of hermanas, this Middle-Grade novel explores friendship, following in your sibling’s footsteps, and fitting in a new environment. Sophia Maria Garcia is entering middle school and trying out for the softball team, just like her sister did! Except not everything is going according to plan, and her best friend is ignoring her because Boys? I feel like this book could be a fascinating study into gendered sports and many other themes that aren’t often explored with Latinx characters. (Release Date: June 19th, 2018)
The Hidden City (Garza Twins #3) by David Bowles: The third in a sprawling middle-grade fantasy series, The Hidden City once again follows the adventures of twins Carol and Johnny in their search for the Ollamat in a rain god’s paradise (Exciting!!!). Except maybe they have a new foe? And it may be family?? WHAT!? (Release Date: August 14th, 2018)
The Carrying by Ada Limon: A poetry collection that is sure to kick you in the chest, and Limon is never known to pull her punches. Her word punches. I loved Bright Dead Things and this one is guaranteed to make you feel things as well. (Release Date: August 14th, 2018)
Stripped by Zoey Castile: Listen, this Adult Romance has a stripper falling in love with a schoolteacher, and they’re neighbors as well! This Maybe Unrequited Pining story is sure to hit all the things you want to read about. (Release Date: August 28th, 2018)
*updated to add The Hidden City on 05/28/2018*
**updated to add The Carrying & Stripped on 05/29/2018**

Rift Zones
The Zero Point Explosion has made the island volatile! Locations once thought to be lost are beginning to appear, but they aren’t the same as they once were… Drop in and explore to discover what mysterious gameplay changes they have in store.
B.R.U.T.E.
This vehicle can be operated by up to two players. If two players are operating it, one (the driver) controls movement, while the other (the gunner) rains down missiles and shotgun shots.
The driver is able to:

Anything you would normally harvest will grant materials when destroyed.
The passenger has two weapons at their disposal: a shotgun and a missile launcher.
Shotgun
Clip Size: 10
Damage: 50
Headshot Multiplier: 1.5x
Missile Launcher
Fires up to 10 missiles at once.
Holding down Trigger will begin loading missiles.

Hit the Road
Tumblr media
Get ready for some high intensity road trip action as you assist Quinn and company in broadcasting her Song of the Summer. You never know what challenges and obstacles you may find along the way, and getting there is half the adventure. Load up the van and gather your group because it’s time to Hit the Road!
Introducing the Locker!
Tumblr media
Your favorite Emotes, Music Packs, and Loading Screens are now available in Save the World. Head over to the Locker tab to check them out!
General[edit]
The first part of the Locker has arrived in Save the World. You can now use your Emotes, Music Packs, and Loading Screens.
The Locker is currently shared between Save the World and Battle Royale, so if you change it in either location, it will change in both.
Only Emotes, Music Packs, and Loading Screens are available for Save the World at the moment. We plan to support more types of cosmetics in future updates. Read more about this here.
Emotes:
All types of Emotes now work in Save the World: Dances, Emoticons, Sprays, and Toys. Any emotes you own are available in all modes.
You can slot up to 6 Emotes in the Locker for quick access on the Emote Wheel. Additional Emotes can be accessed by paging the wheel up or down.
You can use Dances and Emoticons in the Lobby.
Everyone who currently has access to play Save the World will keep Ride the Pony, which is now a traversal Emote. You can now use it in Battle Royale and Creative too!
Players who purchase Save the World Founders packs will also receive Ride the Pony.
Everyone keeps Dance Moves as well, as players in all modes start with that Emote.
Missions + Systems[edit]
Introducing: Hit the Road!
Grab three other players and help Quinn get to the Radio Station to spin her Song of the Summer in this road trip adventure.
Quinn travels in a hover-truck, complete with a mobile storm defense shield.
Along the route are four randomized objectives, each with challenging gameplay and a variety of upgrades.
Get to the radio station, and protect Quinn from a final enemy wave. Hopefully you’ve collected enough traps, ammo, and resources to secure the victory!
If the vehicle loses all of its health the road trip ends, but players earn rewards based on the number of objectives completed.
You start the trip without your gear or supplies, making scavenging and harvesting a top priority.
You keep your trap schematics, and start with a few “hand-me-down” weapons, but weapon crafting is disabled.
Weapons with appropriate perks are scattered throughout the route, increasing your chances of survival without your weapon schematics.
Chests in Hit the Road spawn tier-appropriate weapons, traps, and resources.
Unlike previous events, Hit the Road uses Power Levels instead of Storm Shield Defense progress to match players to the correct difficulty, bringing more balance to the group.
If you are knocked out you will have to wait until your team reaches or completes an objective before you will respawn. Be careful out there!
New event quests have also been added to give players a chance to earn even more Hit the Road tickets.
Search everything you can for cassette tapes, helping Lars craft the perfect summer mix tape, and earning some Hit the Road event tickets.
Legendary Troll Stash Event Llama is available
Cost: 1000 Hit the Road Tickets

Moved the FPS indicator to the lower left-hand corner while in the Lobby.

Yaotome
Tumblr media
“Yokai: Yaotome” © @nightmaresyrup, accessed at their tumblr here
[The yaotome is a very obscure yokai, with little information on it in English and seemingly originated as an artistic trope instead of a folktale (she’s on my blog header). So I don’t feel terribly bad about making up about 90% of the flavor text and abilities.]
Yaotome CR 16 CN Fey This woman has the curved neck and long beak of a water bird. She wears white robes and carries a rod set with bells.
The yaotome is a fey creature that is the embodiment of the sacred and ecstatic aspects of dance. They are nomadic creatures, traveling the world in search of festivals, holy rites and other places in which dance attains a powerful fervor. A yaotome is a vain and narcissistic creature, and typically attempts to hijack these performances into exultations of her own glory and power. She may collect dancers and supplicants, transforming them into loyal thralls and taking them with her on her voyages, sometimes whisking them away forever.
A yaotome prefers not to engage in direct combat, rather turning enemies into friends or causing them to bow down in awe. If expecting trouble, she will interpose her subjects and slaves between her and her opponents, hoping to wear enemies down. Despite this cowardice, a yaotome is skilled with using her belled rod as a crushing mace, and she can drain the life from enemies at a distance and transfer it to herself.
Yaotome Boons and Banes (CL 20th, 9th level, DC 27) Being fickle and vain creatures, a yaotome is most likely to bestow its boon on a creature that flatters and serves it, but just as likely to curse the same creature for a minor offense.
Boon: A yaotome’s boon protects the affected creature from mind-altering magic. A creature so affected gains a +4 morale bonus on all saves against charm and compulsion effects, except those generated by that yaotome. This boon lasts for 1 month.
Bane: A creature afflicted by a yaotome’s bane becomes obsessed with them, wasting away when not in their presence. Any day in which a cursed creature does not see the yaotome that cursed it, they take 2 points of Constitution drain. This drain cannot be removed while the curse is still active. A creature reduced to 0 Constitution by this effect is slain and is animated as a ghost within 24 hours. This bane is permanent.

This functions as a dominate person spell, except that it affects a number of creatures equal to her caster level within 30 feet of each other. This is the equivalent of a 9th level spell. Drain Life (Su) Three times per day as a standard action, a yaotome can attempt to drain the life of a single creature within 60 feet. The creature is entitled to a DC 29 Fortitude save. On a failed save, the creature takes 150 points of negative energy damage, and the yaotome is healed for 150 points of damage. On a successful save, the creature takes 75 points of negative energy damage and the yaotome is not healed. This is a negative energy effect. The save DC is Constitution based. Kagura Suzu (Su) A yaotome’s belled instrument acts as a +3 impact heavy mace in her hands. Spells A yaotome casts spells as a 16th level bard. She does not gain access to other class abilities of a bard, such as bardic performance.

Elise Trophy 2018 - Round 1 @ Snetterton 300
Tumblr media
Our racing year started at Snetterton on the 300 layout, but this time it was forecast snow. It was likely that the event may be cancelled, but since we'd re-built the car especially to get it back on track and ready for the first round, we were not going to take the risk and travelled up for the races.
We arrived at the track at lunchtime on Friday and spent the sunny afternoon testing the car, making sure it was tip-top. We were using old tyres which had seen racing, testing and trackday action, but the pace was clearly in the car from the off, which was a great sign considering it was a brand new build. With the sessions finished, we gave it a clean and affixed the race series stickers provided by the LCUK guys.
The only issue I had with the car was a familar smell.. The same smell I had in the final round of 2016, which turned out that time to be a failing clutch release bearing. I asked Nicky to drive the car around the paddock to see if I was going mad, and when she returned the news was bad. She smelt it too.
After an hour of trying to decide if I had the energy to stay at the track and fix it, the decision was taken to whip the car apart and change the clutch to prevent a failure on race day - even though it was now dark, sub-zero temperatures and my 9 year old was already tired. We bought a clutch kit from Datum Motorsport who kindly offered it from their spares pile, and set about taking the car apart. The work was finished at 11:50pm, and we were shattered. I've done many clutches on the car, but this one was a real pig - probably not helped by the fact that I'm still recovering from my hurt back over the xmas period. Whilst the clutch and pressure plate were in relatively good knick, the bearing was shot, and literally fell apart in our hands when we removed it - changing it was certainly the right choice, and would have been a DNF. It had only done 4 race weekends (one of which was only qualifying and a crash) so that's a bit disappointing.
With the car back in one piece we gave it a quick clean and left for the evening. I'd like to say now how awesome the paddock is, without Datum offering advice and the parts, and Ben for lending us another trolley jack and a big fucking hammer, we'd never have been able to complete the job as I'd forgotten a few tools after 9 months away from the track. Also, obviously, mega thanks to Nicky, who got stuck right in and got the job done.

Race Day
Saturday morning came, and after looking out of the window we saw that it had been raining all night, and had just started to snow. Whilst it wasn't settled yet, it was bloody freezing and starting to get a little frosty in places. We headed to the track and Nicky got the car ready for scrutineering while I headed off for the driver briefing. It was great to see so many familiar faces, and also a whole crowd of new ones eager to get going.
9:30am. Qualifying
The track was wet and cold, but the racing season was just about to start and that's always an exciting feeling. Assembly was full of cars, with a great grid for the first race of over 25 cars. We headed out, on the Avon Race Wet tyre, and set about doing some laps. I couldn't get my head into it at first, but the times slowly fell and despite not having the ABS or TC of the newer cars, I managed to bag fourth on the grid, and managed to pip John LaMaster by less than 1 tenth of a second to be fastest K-series. Craig Denman was on pole in his S3 Cup R, Joe Taylor was second in an S2 Exige, Simon Oakley third in another Cup R.
11:10am. Race 1
The first race of the triple header was a rolling start, and I was sat just behind Joe's gorgeous white Exige. The race started with the waved union flag, and we raced around the snowy wet Snetteron circuit. Whilst I tried, I couldn't get confident on the brakes and had no answer for Craig, Joe or Simon up front - I kept locking the inside front wheel and weirdly it would stay locked after I totally released the brake pedal. I had a great fight with Mackenzie Walker and John, and ended up in fourth position after being sat in fifth behind Mackenzie for most of the race. I managed to sneak past on the last lap after a do-or-die late brake into turn one and making the move into the Montreal hairpin.
14:00pm. Race 2
Our call to be in assembly was early, due to the snow. Luckily the car had behaved well so far and other than the normal bolt-check it required no work between sessions. The track had dried a lot, and despite a little bit of damp here and there, it looked good for the ZZR dry-tyre so that was what the majority of the grid chose. The race was again a rolling start, and the grid was ordered by our finishing position from the first race meaning I again started 4th. This time I was behind Simon. The race started, and immediately Simon and Craig buggered off up the road. I felt more confident and started battling with Joe to try and pinch third, which I managed after a nice battle, and then just eased the gap open until the race ended, as the snow was getting heavier and heavier and the track was super greasy. I finished in third position, and it was nice to get the first podium for the newly rebuilt car.
15:45pm. Race 3
The track was now dry, but it was snowing. I was struggling to choose a tyre, and had nicky running up and down the paddock trying to work out what others were doing. There was a mix - some chose the wet 'safe' tyre as it was still a bit damp, and others were fitting the dry ZZR as they believed it would dry out. The trouble was, it was still super cold, and I didn't know if I could switch the tyre on properly. The lap times we were doing in race 2 were actually slower than we did in qualifying in the wet, showing how slippery it was.
I chose the wet tyre with 5 minutes to go before the race was due to start, and headed to the assembly area quite late. On the drive down the paddock I bumped into Stephen Docherty, who looked at my tyres and grimaced. I stopped and asked what he had done with his cars, and he said they were on wets, but he advised against it. I thanked him for his advice, and carried on still in two minds. I parked in Assembly in my spot, and looked over at Craig, who looked back, glanced at my tyres, and mouthed "you p***y" and gave me the wanker sign. That was enough to spur me on - I started the car, drove back to the garage and set about the fastest tyre change ever, from the wets to the drys, and headed back to assembly arriving just as the cars departed for the grid.
The green flag started and it was clear straight away that this was the perfect tyre to be on - whilst it was snowing and bloody cold, the track was dry and the green flag lap warm up showed there was grip to be had.
The reverse top ten grid race would be started with a standard standing start. We sat on the grid waiting for the Cup cars to be started by the lights, and our Trophy cars in grid 2 by the union flag, but Craig decided he didn't want to wait and set off with the lights and clipped the rear of my car. He stopped, the flag was dropped and we all set off together.
The car felt great on the correct tyre and by the exit of turn 1 I had moved up from 8th to 5th, and by the exit of turn 3 I was in second. After a brief battle with David Alexander I moved up unto first place, but was soon dispatched by Craig who drove around the outside of both of us at the end of the back straight. I followed him around Corum, but then he vanished into the distance. I tried to keep up the pace after Nicky told me via the pit board that he had received a 10-second penalty for the start, but he was a full second quicker on every single lap and despite my best efforts, I could not keep with him. He won by 14 seconds on track, which read as 4 seconds on the timing screens, with me in second position and David Alexander joined us on the podium 33 seconds behind. Not the most exciting of races, but a nice result.
With that all finished, we loaded up the car, and made the long drive home in the snow. The first race weekend was out the way, the car behaved brilliantly and we'd got a couple of good results, even if I can't see a way to beat Craig at the moment.
Watching my videos back shows that I am clearly rusty. I'm not sure how much more racing we'll do this year as I've totally run out of money to fund it, but if we do, it'll have to be along with more testing to get my eye in - I drove better in the last few laps of the last race than at any other point of the weekend - which is not good enough.
As normal I'd like to thank a load of people. Firstly, Nicky, who is just the best - my team manager, coach, support and fan club, all in one. I'd like to thank Neil at Kraftwerk Tools UK for his support regardless of the crash, and the Oakleys for taking on and running the series.
A big thanks must also go, again, to Dan Jude and Phil Peak, without which the car wouldn't have been repaired, and I'd never have made it back on track.
If we can scrape together the funds the next round is at Donington in 4 weeks.

Burnley’s best league place since 1975!
Sean Dyche’s time at Turf Moor gave the impression to be over when Burnley had been relegated in Would possibly 2015, however the membership’s board are actually reaping the rewards for sticking with him greater than ever.
Speedy ahead two and a part years and the Clarets climb into the Champions League puts with a 1-Zero win over Stoke – fourth within the most sensible flight being their best place at the pyramid since 1975.
However as a lot credit score as Dyche and the board deserve, the avid gamers also are running wonders, as we select simply 5 in their superstar performers thus far this season in keeping with their Sky Sports activities Fable Soccer scoring…
Nick Pope (£five.5m)
An early contender for Sky Sports activities Fable Soccer’s discount of the season, Nick Pope has been exceptional deputising for the injured Tom Heaton.
David de Gea is the one goalkeeper with extra issues than him within the sport, Pope protecting a blank sheet each different fit and choosing up his 5th save bonus towards Stoke after making seven stops.
Lukasz Fabianski is the one ‘keeper with greater than 10 appearances who has a greater saves in line with 90 minute ratio than Pope, and with Joe Hart each out of shape and out of favour, the Burnley stopper is doing his outdoor probabilities of going to Russia with England subsequent summer time completely no hurt.
James Tarkowski (£6.1m)
In spite of sitting beautiful in Sky Sports activities Fable Soccer’s most sensible 10 best scoring defenders, with some extent greater than common team-mate Stephen Ward (£6.2m), James Tarkowski is by some means in not up to six in line with cent of groups.
The 25-year-old is considered one of most effective 4 avid gamers to have featured in all Sean Dyche’s beginning XIs this season, making his excessive scoring no marvel as he has accumulated issues for every of Burnley’s 8 blank sheets.
Within the most sensible 5 for headers gained this season, it sort of feels not likely that Tarkowski’s performances are going ignored via Gareth Southgate, and the defender is every other Burnley guy unquestionably at the verge of an England call-up.
Steven Defour (£five.5m)
Whilst Burnley’s popularity is that of a defensively organised group with a powerful paintings ethic, Steven Defour sticks out as their ingenious spark.
The skilful Belgian averages probably the most a hit passes within the group, with 37 in line with 90 mins, and fell simply two wanting his 3rd Sky Sports activities Fable Soccer move bonus on Tuesday night time.
However he additionally endorses Burnley’s laborious grafting mentality too, successful 5 tackles towards Stoke for his 2nd bonus in that division, and it’s the advance of this a part of his sport which has noticed him turn into a very powerful to Dyche – beginning all 17 video games this time period.
Scott Arfield (£6.8m)
After being an unused sub for 5 successive video games, Scott Arfield has returned to the group with a bang and proved his value to the Turf Moor trustworthy.
Aiding Ashley Barnes’ past due winner on Tuesday night time, Arfield additionally gained 4 of his 5 tackles and all 5 aerial duels.
That adopted the decisive strike towards Watford remaining weekend and a powerful look off the bench at Leicester, during which he gained 4 tackles in not up to an hour – all 3 performances contributing to his cementing of a spot within the beginning XI once more.
Johann Berg Gudmundsson (£6.7m)
After an outstanding Euro 2016 with Iceland, Johann Berg Gudmundsson secured a transfer to the Premier League from Sky Wager League One certain Charlton, however a knee harm restricted his talent to make an affect at Turf Moor.
This season has been a special tale. The wideman has already created 15 probabilities, an identical quantity he controlled in 20 video games remaining season, and registered team-high 4 assists, two times his 2016-17 overall.
His performances haven’t any doubt been aided via the wave of self belief he’s using after serving to Iceland qualify for subsequent summer time’s International Cup – the 27-year-old chipping in with two targets and an lend a hand to set him and his nation up for his or her first ever look on the event.
Comparable: Stoke’s Chelsea superstar setback after Burnley.

The No BS Approach to Influencer Marketing
Since I’ve been monitoring the topic of “influencer marketing” through BuzzSumo Alerts, the number of articles surfaced has gone from a few per week to 5 or 10 per day. Out of that rising wave of expression from industry websites and blogs is a mix of news, tips, trends and 100% pure B.S. Rising popularity makes things shiny and as influencer marketing enters the shiny object phase, it’s more important than ever to separate the facts from the fake. Whether it’s practices that will get you in hot water with the FTC or the waste of a perfectly good budget on micro-influencer wannabes promising viral hits galore, there are plenty of distractions from realizing true influencer marketing ROI. We’ve been working with influencers in earnest since 2011 and the lessons learned have been invaluable. A big part of what I get to do with our agency is to test ideas and approaches over months and even years in order to bring data-informed recommendations to our clients. I’ll tap into that experience for this post. A BS-free approach to influencer marketing starts with this important understanding: The most practical and useful way to engage influencers in a way that creates value for everyone involved is through content. In fact, 80% of marketers say content marketing is what working with influencers has the greatest impact on. Accept that truth and your path to influencer marketing ROI will be much shorter, painless and enjoyable. In a marketing context, influence is the ability to affect action - not attract 1,000, 100,000 or a million fans, friends and followers. To create action you need content and relationships. Therefore, my definition of influencer marketing is: Developing relationships with internal and industry experts with active networks, to co-create content that helps drive measurable business goals. Let’s break that down: Developing relationships: Most influencer marketing involves the completion of a task. It might be an exchange of money for the creation of video posted to YouTube or occasionally replying via email to a quote request for a roundup blog post. These are both transactions and a transactional approach is not what wins hearts and minds. Companies that approach influencer marketing with relationships in mind, will use co-creation of content to help build those relationships. The stronger the relationships, the better the content and the more actively involved the influencer will be in collaboration and promotion. That means allocating time to connect the dots with influencers and your longer term content and social media plans, monitoring, engagement and communications. Not just an email when you need 50 words for a post on Wednesday. Internal and industry experts: Influence is not limited to one type of person and brands can benefit greatly if they expand their view to include a mix of influencer types. That means looking internally at subject matter experts and executives that, with a little training, could contribute in a very meaningful way. Beyond the professional influencers and industry experts are members of the media, customers, prospective customers and members of any communities that the brand is active in. All must be considered when developing relationships to grow your brand’s influence and the influence of those you work with. Active networks: Expertise is not rare. A community of people that are actively paying attention and influenced by a person with knowledge and an opinion is less common and far more valuable for marketing. That means internal and external influencers that publish and engage to attract a network are often better collaboration partners because they have channels of distribution for their work. Co-create content: Without content there is no communication and no influence. It’s fine to engage someone with creative talent and a large audience to create media without the brand’s proactive involvement. That’s less about influencer marketing than hiring someone to make and promote media. An influencer that collaborates with the brand is investing something meaningful into the project and that investment often brings inspiration to make it successful. When a brand is able to pull together a highly relevant group of influencers and has inspired them to see the greater good of the project, it’s amazing what can happen with the content and promotion of it. Brands need to find a way to make influencers care about the content and the project’s success. If they don’t care, they won’t share. Drive measurable business goals: Benchmarks and goals are essential for any marketing program and influencer content is no different. Influencer collaborations that are evaluated purely on participation, social shares or advertising equivalency fall short of meaningful ROI. Mapping marketing to business goals is especially important with influencer marketing because the value of influencer collaboration can extend far beyond marketing to PR, customer success, and even talent acquisition. Make sense? A relationship and content-focused approach to influencer marketing makes it a dynamic, responsive and proactive asset that grows in momentum and value over time.
“When the brand and influencer relationship is mutually beneficial, both parties are going to get the best results out of the engagement.” Amisha Gandhi, Senior Director of Influencer Marketing, SAP

All must be considered when developing relationships to grow your brand's influence and the influence of those you work with. It's fine to engage someone with creative talent and a large audience to create media without the brand's proactive involvement. That's less about influencer marketing than hiring someone to make and promote media. An influencer that collaborates with the brand is investing something meaningful into the project and that investment often brings inspiration to make it successful. When a brand is able to pull together a highly relevant group of influencers and has inspired them to see the greater good of the project, it's amazing what can happen with the content and promotion of it. Brands need to find a way to make influencers care about the content and the project's success. If they don't care, they won't share.
