Is this why Ark won't straight up confess?

Oh my WORD I'd forgotten I made a meme of that. Long story short, yeah! Pretty much!

There's a cut (but still canonical) scene this is based on early in The Present is a Gift where Ark, sans memories, basically says he's very fond of Twig and he's happy he met her and is able to call her a friend. Twig doesn't straight up tell him she'll slide him a fifty if he never says that again in the original scene, but she gets VERY noticeably uncomfortable and he permanently backs off on the Words of Affirmation front.

After that, he has this lingering fear that she'll react the same way if he were ever to propose a romantic relationship, and so his ex-villain brain constantly comes up with elaborate schemes that minimize emotional risks and have Twig make the first move in response to actions he takes that may or may not be interpreted as platonic or perhaps something more, therefore shifting all risks off of himself in the process.

TL;DR--- Man's scared of rejection and has masterminded a situation in which Twig is the only one to risk direct rejection, therefore guaranteeing success... If she wasn't an idiot and would pick up on his hints.

January 15: Monty/Raven, Accurate/Indefinite

As is so often the case with me, I don't know what this is. I didn't have a strong idea going in so I just went with Dramatic.

This is part of the Ark AU, and takes place before the beginning of that story.

Monty/Raven, ~660 words, written in about 20 minutes

For the prompt "accurate, and its antonyms (inaccurate, indefinite, unreliable, faulty)" from my July Break Bingo 2023 card.

One thing Raven and Monty have in common is an unerring desire for accuracy in all tasks and perfection in all results, paired with a stark understanding that such things will never be. Their ship is old and faulty, and it cannot ever be otherwise again. They are both only part of the shoestring and glue that holds the thing together—not that Raven would ever admit to Monty's face that she gives him as much credit as that.

Their relationship, too, is uncertain and stumbling: indefinite, and in that way, one might say faulty, too. Two months after the first time, she finally invited him back to her quarters on Mecha. But then they hardly knew what to do with each other in the privacy behind a locked door, in the space of a single bed. He showed a certain patience that she'd never felt in him before. She would not be so naive as to say it was love or even desire, because desire is something lofty and beautiful, and they've only ever been clawing and scratching in the dark. Still, he took his time and he stretched himself out and he kissed her slow. He left her with hollows of time in which to think—something she'd always avoided in the past, with him.

She's heard rumors that all his other girls are ex-Prison Station, which makes her wonder if she's special, if there's some sort of hidden meaning there. Maybe he knew Finn on the inside and figures, close enough. Or maybe Raven crept up on him in some unexpected way, and he intends this no more than she does, and is compelled to keep going like it's some kind of dare.

Sometimes she shows up on Go-Sci just to rag on him about the hole in the security system in Alpha Sector 4, something she shouldn't even know about except that any fool could see it, and sometimes he reminds her that the patch job in that section of family quarters on Farm is so weak, he could probably rip it apart with his bare hands. He grew up on Farm and knows that's always been a damn trouble spot. But if she's such a genius, why can't she figure something out?

"I am a damn genius," she answers.

He flicks his gaze all the way down her body, slow, then raises his eyebrows like a dare.

Maybe she is special.

Maybe they will always be indefinite, faltering, because they've been broken up in pieces and turned old before their time, and they cannot ever again be otherwise again. That's when she thinks when she catches sight of sweetness in him. When she spies him across the cafeteria at a crowded lunch hour, laughing and joking, hiding that laughter behind his hand. He's only twenty, looks young still, sometimes, for his age.

For a while, in her quarters, he slides himself down under the covers and just lies there, his breath hitting ragged and tired against the bare skin of her hip. She lets her hand fall down and cards her fingers through his hair. Her lungs are working hard, trying not to burst. Something's cracked up, uncertain, a story they could have had together but she just can't find the thread of it, doesn't know what she's doing. She’s thinking not about the Skybox girls but about the Station itself, how he never talks about it, how he'd up and leave now without a second-thought if she even said the word. She's the shoestring and the glue, sliding her fingers again and again through the soft strands of his hair. Holding them both together, somehow. He pokes his nose against her hip. Underneath the blanket, he must be hot, sticky with sweat, unable to ignore for a moment the lingering scent of them, too aware of the wrinkles on the sheets that, somehow, they've half-pulled off the mattress. Surrounded on all sides by the wreckage they've created and become.

this is a thaemine x summoner mc fic idea that i will get to writing one day (hopefully)

inspired by hiroeb/gogopierogi's post on thaemine :) thank you for feeding my thaemine brainrot

so some basic info first:

no one knows his exact origins, aside from him appearing out of nowhere in petrania and proceeds to conquer half of it

no one knows his purpose for doing so either, why he fights and why he even agrees to be a legion commander when kazeros offers him a position

a predominant theory kr players have about thaemine is that he is zosma's, the god of chaos and ruler of petrania before kazeros came along, chaos shard, a part of his soul

with that out of the way.. heres the thaemine x summoner mc au

summoners can summon pets, elementals, and even ancient spirits (eg jahia, ligheas) to help them

so what if thaemine, a part of zosma's soul, is an ancient spirit? (that would also mean kadan is also one but we are not about to go into that)

being a soul fragment, that would mean that half of himself is missing because he is incomplete

a void of emptiness gnawing at him from the inside ever since he came into existence and he hates it, like hes missing something but he doesnt know what it is

its why hes been fighting for so long, to fill in that void of darkness and maybe find something or someone that could patch the void

accepts kazeros' offer because he thought maybe itll fix whatever is missing in him, but nope, doesnt work

this goes on until feiton, where he meets mc the first time

feels a weird pull to them, an affinity of some sorts and for the first time in centuries he feels that void of darkness within him ebbing away and hes curious

learns that mc is a summoner, who has ancient spirits, beings similar to him, by their side and he wonders. would being their summon fill that void?

but he doesnt act immediately, rather, he watches them closely to see if theyre worth his time and power

this goes on for a while, and the more time passes, the more intriguied he is by them

mc's summons warn mc of thaemine's interest because they are similar (ancient spirits) and can somewhat tell whenever a spirit is interested in courting a summoner to be theirs

mc being hyper aware now because of it, being on guard if some unfamiliar creature appears close by because thats how spirits observe their intended, to see if they are worthy before approaching

in hindsight mc shouldve told azena about this, but doesnt because they dont want to worry the sidereals in case its nothing altogether

everything comes to a head during thaemine's raid, at the very end

thaemine thinking mc is the perfect choice after observing them for a while, a strong summoner who isnt fearful of him, who could hold on their own against him

mc having a lapse in attention and gets separated from the sidereals, gets chain bound and the two finally talk

thaemine offering mc his aid against kazeros, to not go against them and not harm anyone they see dear if they accept him as a summon

with a catch of course.

mc is used to this because summons usually would ask for something in return if they are to be their summon, like mana, food, offerings, depends on the summon

so when thaemine asks for part of their soul... well that comes as a shock.

there are many cautionary tales told to summoners, to never give up your soul, not even a sliver of it because that means the summon owns you now, changing the power dynamic from balanced to the summon owning the summoner

and having your soul owned by one of the most powerful beings in existence is never a good thing.

but what choice does mc have? thaemine has a point; kazeros is infinitely more powerful than they are, than the god who thaemine was part of milennia ago and there is no guarantee that they will find the lost ark to counter kazeros in time

and thus mc accepts his aid, selling their soul to what many call the devil

instead of all the horrible things the tales warned them of, like telling them to do things theyd never do, to harm people or their other summons, thaemine kneels in front of them and leaves his mark on them by grabbing their hand and caressing it, a tattoo then forming on the back of their hand

he sets mc free, puts them back where the sidereals are and leaves, and now mc has to deal with the aftermath of being thaemine's summoner, of all things

there might be plotholes because im still fleshing this idea out and yeah im ngl this is just one giant excuse for me to write thaemine smut (cough mana sharing ala fate stay night for example cough)

Sure! Also, I just accidentally found out that a single post can’t have over 100 links in it by accident with my Masterlist... Guess I get to par that down to the first chapters of everything and add actual previous/next links to the individual posts to navigate within a storyline.

And I’ve had a few people speculating about it and tried to make it a bit clearer now on the masterlist: the IDW stuff is all one big continuity with Lost Light and the random kink snippets clearly separated as alternate takes/AUs now.

Optimus x Reader

• “You’re going to give them a heart attack when they come to if you don’t stop looming like that,” Ratchet mutters and Optimus looks up trying to decide if his old friend is joking. Given the frown, Ratchet’s serious and he’s not sure what to make of that. He’d known humans were fragile, but your heart can just stop? From fear? “They’re a little banged up, but fine,” Ratchet adds as Optimus stretches out a servo to touch your still form and then hesitates. You’re just so tiny, he’s not sure he can touch you without breaking you. “Who are you giving this one to?”

• Like it’s a forgone conclusion he’ll pawn watching over you on someone else. Someone less busy, less weighed down with duty. “It’s my responsibility,” he says, watching your chest rise and fall. You’ve been out since he caught you and so very still. He keeps his optics on you so he doesn’t have to see Ratchet’s expression. Because this is his responsibility and his guilt. He knows it’s not fair to trap you on the Ark, but keeping the surviving Autobots safe is his priority. And the other humans seem fine. Mostly.

• “Bumblebee would take them,” Ratchet offers, a hand touching his arm. “I think he’d be glad of the company.” Shaking his head, Optimus carefully curls his servos around your limp form and lifts you. Hears Ratchet venting tiredly behind him as he walks out and carries you through the halls to his quarters. Trailbreaker and Hound both turning to look when he walks by, curious. Maybe it’s been a mistake to try to keep his people far from humans. Maybe not. Sideswipe probably won’t be the last to abuse his rules, but he’s not ready to trust the humans to not betray them yet. He can’t.

• Your head is ringing, sinuses burning as you stiffly shift and your body complains about it. Why do you feel like one big bruise? There’s a blanket wrapped around you, but whatever you’re laying on isn’t that soft. Something presses so gently between your shoulder blades that it’s a ghost of a touch then slides down your spine. Repeats the stroke. Lifting your head, you squint up at a huge face staring down at you and everything slams back into focus. The Jeep that wasn’t a Jeep. The wreck. Giant, alien robots. One of which is holding you in one hand while it runs a huge finger down your spine again and again. You start shaking. That petting stopping when it notices.

• You’re awake. And not screaming. That has to be good thing, but remembering Ratchet’s warning, he rumbles and presses a servo carefully over your heart. It’s not stopped, but it is racing. A little, warm hand lands on his servo, your eyes wide in fear as you just tremble. And he understands, you have to realize how tiny you are compared to him, how easily you can be hurt. “You’re going to be okay, little one. I have you,” he says, optics snared on that tiny hand on his. And he knows he’ll protect you just like his Autobots. Be sword or shield for you, whatever you need. You’re his to care for now, that trembling fear hurting him to see.

• That rumbly, deep voice sings in your bones where you’re touching him, because that voice erased any doubts. Blue eyes is definitely a he. And as crazy as it is, you believe him despite the fear. There’s an earnestness in that voice that’s almost a promise of safety. Wonder mingles with the fear still thrumming through you as you stare at those pretty glowing eyes and think that they look unbelievably kind. The thought almost immediately followed with the certainty that you probably have a concussion.

Sonic AU where Sonic is really just a highschool kid and the Sonic franchise as we know it is really just him daydreaming in class and/or writing fanfic about his life.

In reality, Sonic isn't cool or confident at all. He's kinda a mess and always gets picked on. He's not good at sports and he runs out of breath just running to class.

He's hopelessly in love with Amy, but she's way too cool for him and doesn't even know he exists, so that's why he always makes her super in love with HIM in his fantasies. Amy’s also on the cheer team.

Tails is still Sonic’s best friend honorary little brother irl, but he has trouble learning and is really struggling in school. Sonic always believes in him though.

Knuckles is the waaaaaaay cooler than Sonic captain of the football team. He's beat up Sonic once or twice, but overall Sonic looks up to him. He sees Knuckles as his role model, the kind of guy he wants to be someday. Confident. Strong.

Shadow is the weird new kid that never talks and always sits at the back of the class. Sonic knows practically nothing about this guy, so he made up most of his backstory (and personality) from scratch. So, the Ark, the Ultimate Lifeform, even Maria’s existence?? All 100% fiction created by Sonic.

Rouge is the popular girl who's always spreading gossip with her friends. She keeps up to date on all the latest fashion trends and always looks absolutely stunning. Sonic had a crush on her for a second there before he fell in love with Amy. Sonic’s also seen Rouge talk to Shadow a few times, which is why he made them friends in his daydreams.

Silver comes from a MEGA rich family. He got all sorts of high tech stuff that he just treats so casually. It's like this kid is from the future!

Blaze is a foreign exchange student who only barely speaks English but is still doing pretty well in school and is pretty well liked by the other kids. Sonic’s hung out with her a few times to help her with her science homework.

Finally, Eggman is really a teacher at the school. In fact he's the teacher who all the students universally agree is the worst and they all hate him. Most of the daydreams happen in his class. Other villains from the Sonic franchise are in actuality, other teachers at the school. Sonic doesn't have as much against them though, which is why they're usually one-off villains.

Shadow and Sonic are swapped with each other! These are their designs.

Shadow is the protagonist, and he's usually reserved and introverted. He wants to help who he can, which is why he fights against Maria.

Sonic's got DNA from Chaos, so he's got a ton of funky attributes to play around with (he is almost only made of water, he has water manipulation abilities, stuff like his tongue & blood is water (glowy tho!), and he can't get injured in a regular way. You can scroll through my Sonic swap AU tag to see thesecon action!) He's a chaotic neutral who's always looking for an adrenaline rush, he tends to lean towards people who could give him that, or people who he has compassion for (like Maria). He still cannot swim LMAO

Rouge and Tails are swapped! I don't have a design for Tails yet though.

Rouge is Shadow's older sister figure and she's the extroverted one of the two (so their dynamic is more like Rouge is Sonic and Shadow is Tails). I haven't gotten everything down for her just yet, but I want to keep her Jewel enjoyment and sass.

Tails works for GUN before briefly working for Maria. He keeps Sonic in check for a while. He's serious and pretty much the opposite of Sonic. Think kinda like Nine!

Silver and Amy are swapped!

Silver is the annoying but sweet younger friend, kinda clingy but everyone would keep him safe. His weapon is a slingshot and he has incredible aim, if you gave this kid an actually dangerous weapon, that'd be scary. Also he's got a great intuition and ppl swear he's clairvoyant (he's not LOL)

Amy comes from the future and has psychokinesis AND a hammer! She has to use her psychokinesis to actually swing her hammer since it's HEAVY. She tries to find joy in her situation, but she's a bit jaded from her time in the future. (She's more confident and upbeat than canon silver tho)

Maria is swapped with Eggman! But He doesn't have a design yet.

Maria was still raised on the ARK, but she was raised there alongside Ivo. She was fascinated with Project Sonic, and she had therapy in the ARK that helped her with her illness, but after her grandfather was killed and the ARK was shut down, she had to live with her illness afflicting her worse than before.

Ivo (Eggman) is actually more swapped with the GUN commander tbh, was raised alongside Maria, and after the raid on the ARK, he ended up blaming the inhabitants of the ARK (making Sonic and forcing him to be there during the raid) and ended up joining GUN as the lead engineer. Him and Maria get a "cousin rivalry" because of it.

Blazd and Knuckles are swapped with each other! (Not 100% on Blaze's design yet tho)

Blaze is the guardian of the Master Emerald, and she uses her claws to fight. She's very skilled and nimble, so she's a difficult opponent. She's a stoic girl with a heart of gold.

Knuckles is the protector of the Sol Emeralds, and he has fire powers (something something he ate the Sol Dimension Iblis something something ♪ the flames of disaster ♪) he's a proud warrior, the struggles to ask for help, since he's used to being strong enough to do everything alone.

Another swap I haven't drawn yet is Cream and Big.

I also don't have ideas for most other things so feel free to suggest anything 💕

100 au!Tim Drake - Backstory

Tim was born to a family of council members, since the ark was formed the drakes were part of the council. They know how to make the hard choices when it was needed. They were like royalty on the ark.

But Tim wasn’t like them, even tho he was smart and talented, he didn’t want to make the hard choices. He wanted to live. He didn’t want to have to worry about the lives of the rest of the human race. But he did want to make his parents proud.

So he studied everything from history, to engineering, to Latin. No matter how useless it was deemed to be.

Unlike the rest of his family, he interacted with all sorts of people. That’s how he met Stephanie Brown.

She was the daughter of a nurse, always around the infirmary, always with something to say.

She and Tim became fast friends, and then more than friends. But it didn’t last. They were better of as friends.

When she told him she thought she was pregnant, he wanted it to not be true, he couldn’t lose his best friend.

But no matter how much he wanted, he couldn’t change reality. Stephanie was arrested.

And then, only a few months later, the sky box was quarantined. They said it was some sort of sickness. But Tim know better.

He heard stuff.

So he confronted Bruce Wayne, he council member he knew was a good person. Bruce told him about the 100, how the ark was dying so they sent a bunch of kids to check if the ground was survivable, how they lost contact with them.

Tim tried to help Bruce with proving the 100 were alive, but they didn’t succeed. So they decided that they were going to go to the ground.

In the end, only Tim went. He told the people of the ark the truth as a distraction, and left.

The landing was hard, but he survived. Like he always does.

When he got to the ground, he found out his radio was destroyed.

It took him almost to fix it.

But then, the ark finally knew the ground was survivable.

And Tim could finally rest with his best friend, but he was wrong. They were at war with people that shouldn’t be alive.

He helped with whatever he could, no matter if it was helping Dick leading, training with the younger kids or helping Bernard and Steph make sure everybody stays alive and healthy.

During this time, he got to know Bernard. And he fell for him. Hard.

During the final battle between the grounders and the 100, Tim was at the drop ship, figuring out how to make grounder barbecue.

But then, right before they were about to close the doors, he noticed Bernard.

Beautiful amazing Bernard, fighting for his life against a man twice his size, losing terribly.

He had to help.

So he left one of the other kids in charge of the rockets, and ran to Bernard. He killed the grounder. But it was too late, the doors were already closing.

So they ran in the other direction, running away from the fire.

And they survived.

But by the time they got back to the drop ship, the 100 were gone with no trace.

For the next few days, they needed to survive by themselves. But then the people from the ark found them.

When getting to Mecha station, they learned what happened to the ark.

And Tim learned that his parents weren't on Mecha, and that they were probably dead.

Tim helped the guards from the ark to look for their people. They didn't find anyone.

Until they did.

When Jason appeared, they learned about mount weather.

They realized they need some sort of truce with the grounders to get their people back.

Tim helped with the negotiations, and when they got to an understanding with the grounders heda, he thought they were finally going to get their friends back.

But he was wrong, Luther offered the grounders a deal they couldn't say no to.

And skaikru were left all alone.

But Tim and Jason come up with another plan, who also went to shit.

In the end, they had to pull the lever. killing everyone in mount weather.

Little did they know that mount weather had a sole survivor, they will later grow to regret his survival.

Teen Wolf The 100 AU - Nearly a hundred years ago, the earth was devistated by neuclear missiles. The only survivors were those aboard the thirteen space stations orbiting Earth. The stations join together to make the Ark. Now, nearly a century later, the Ark is running out of oxygen and the only option they have is to send the 100 teenage delinquents in holding to the ground to see whether the radiation levels are safe and the Earth is livable.

Among the one hundred is Stiles, the son of the head security officer who was put in solitary because he threatened to go public with the news that the Ark is not survivable.

Also among them is Derek Hale, an ex-security officer who snuck onboard the drop ship so that he could protect his little sister, Cora, who’s only crime was that she was born second in a place where controlling overpopulation meant you could only have one kid.

They make it to the ground and find that the readings were right: the Earth is survivable. But what they didn’t know is that they’re not alone. Now a hundred teenagers have to find a way to survive on their own on the ground.

So guess who watched Trolls 3 today~

Ngl, based on the trailers I had really low expectations for this movie, and it was really only after watching some TikToks with the villain song in them that I decided to give it a chance, and I'm so glad I did. 3 is by far my favourite of the entire series. Was not expecting to love Viva, but she was fantastic and I wish we had more screen time with her!

While I'm not entirely sure how I will/would integrate her into the Rough and Fluff AU, I decided to make a design for her anyways, complete with some little headcanons/additions. (Click the image for better quality)

Okay okay, movie discussion first:

-I fucking LOVE the Putt Putt Trolls. Its so satisfying seeing how the trauma from the bergens being more fleshed out, and it makes perfect sense that they are as fearful as they are. I'm actually surprised there wasn't more pushback when Viva stopped them from executing Bridget and Gristle.

-(How did they escape actually? The tunnels collapsed, but were there other tunnels? Or did they have a different way out? How did so many, including the eldest heir to the throne, get left behind? Why did Peppy not get BOTH his daughter's immediately?)

-On the topic of Viva; notice how her ears are lower/sharper than Poppy's? I think that's typically a more masculine trait (not 100% bc we see some male trolls with softer/rounder ears) so uh yeah MTF Viva real suck my entire nards

-Fuck King Peppy. This guy gets worse every movie. He is the Dumbledoor/Sensi Wu of Trolls. Mans cannot just give Poppy relevant information to save his LIFE. I can understand not telling Poppy immediately, the grief of loosing his eldest daughter would understandably make that hard, but its been over 20 years now, and she deserved to know.

-Also, fuck most of Branch's brothers! I'm glad JD went back eventually (when exactly he did isn't clear, but sometime between the night of the escape and the first movie) but if he assumed Branch had died, why not try and contact his other siblings to tell them? Clay I can kinda understand with him not wanting to venture out beyond the mini golf area and leave the trolls he was helping to protect, but the rest of them? Not one of them tried to go back for their baby brother? Not even Floyd? When Trollstice was a thing?? Branch shoulda thrown hands fr.

-Rhonda the armadillo bus thing was hella cute and I want a plushie.

-I. Do not really like Crimp

-Velvet and Veneer slayed sooooooo hard. I hope Veneer makes a comeback.

-I also hope we see more of the other troll tribes again.

-The music for this movie was absolutely fire and I NEED a full cover of Sweet Dreams

-I wish the Grandma's death was touched on more than once for like .5 seconds. Like, come on guys, your brother just revealed a major trauma, and that your GRANDMA died!! For christ sake, maybe go apologize for fighting?? maybe go comfort him????

Movie numero 4 predictions:

-Broppy marriage. Branch fr said "Lets get married" by accident HES THINKING ABOUT IT

-Either Poppy/Viva get their mom back, or Branch gets one/both of his parents. Dreamworks will pull some bullshit out of their ass and say that uhm actually they escaped like years before the others did and have been, idk, trapped in the shadow realm or something.

-We see Chef/Creek again. Creek redemption ark would go crazy hard IF DONE RIGHT and I want to see that fear of some monster trying to eat all your friends come back again

-Broppy kid reveal at the end of the movie. Unbelievable amounts of Plush Toy Marketing and terrible spin offs ensue.

-I just want to see more Trollstice era stuff plz dreamworks

-We get a Sound of Silence reprise

-Branch/his brothers are revealed to be a hybrid/some kind of special troll. I am TELLING YOU this guy adapted to different kinds of music like it was NOTHING, something Poppy and the others struggled with. Hes got something in him I SWEAR

-Tiny diamond is, once again, part of the main supporting characters

Au shiz:

-If Viva IS put in, its going to most likely be during the sequel. Peppy is already going to be dragged through the mud, might have him mention something about a lost sibling near the end of the OG fic, and since the Pop trolls will be looking for a new home, maybe they'll run into her

-Branch's brothers will not be making an appearance. They simply dont fit into the narrative. I may do an alternate au with them included but who knows.

-Mildly considering making Tiny Diamond a Greek kid. (Guy x Creek) would make for some interesting angst.

Hey Kit!! This past year when the Acolyte came out, my heart broke and I decided to step away from Star Wars. It’s fine that others liked it but personally I didn’t; actually to be frank, I REALLY didn’t like it. Star Wars and Anakin got me through a lot, so watching Disney take an actual shit on his origin and then his redemption ark by half-assing the lore, felt like a punch to the gut, and I had to step away. (This is my personal opinion, if you or others liked it that’s great! I just didn’t). However, when I saw that u published the body politics au, I decided to sit down and catch up on all your fics (btw I love the Hanahaki one!), and it got me back into the fandom. I’m glad one shitty (imo) show didn’t push me away permanently and I have you to thank for that. I’ve met so many great people thru Star Wars and made a lot friends so it had really been kind of hard to turn away from it. I just really wanted to say thank you. your writing is, as always, too beautiful and inspiring to ignore. this is very kind to send to me and a very nice morning read! i admit, i actually have not watched the acolyte, though not for any particular reason. i've definitely heard mixed reviews about the show and its take on the jedi order and the sith, which have been sorta sad to read cause i do like the jedi (though i guess i never label myself as pro-jedi cause like? they're the good guys? you're not like. pro-percy jackson or something right? pro-katniss everdeen? you just sorta read the book and you're like oh yeah these are the good guys. might find aspects of a character annoying but i'm definitely not supposed to be rooting for the Capitol or smething right)

but i've also heard from other people that as a pew-pew show, it delivers on that front! lightsaber fights are cool and everyone has a funky haircut that they pull off somehow which does feel quintessentially star wars

my general view of the disney plus star wars shows is that i'll watch the ones that strike my fancy, and if one of them doesn't then i won't. the star wars disney execs produce a lot of content (and i truly mean content, i.e. material to be consumed - not necessarily art) and a lot of it i'm probably never going to watch. it wasn't made for me, and i definitely get the lurch and disappointment you may feel if you look forward to something for ages and then it's not what you wanted in a thousand small ways or a handful of big ways. i think that's especially hard to guard against nowadays when trailers for tv shows rely more on aesthetic and punchy one-liners and brief second cameos than they do explaining the actual story of the show

but you can be a fan without loving the direction some shows go in or the choices directors make!! if that looks like only watching shows that have been peer-reviewed, or if that looks like ignoring everything but a small corner/subset of a massive fandom, or if that looks like turning from the media itself and diving further into fanart and fanfiction and interacting with people online then that's what it looks like! especially now that the world of canon star wars media isn't just 6-9 movies + 2(?) non trilogy movies, you should absolutely go about watching star wars content with a you-first mindset 100%

you know how many people were disappointed in the obi-wan kenobi series?? soooo many because he was a sad little pathetic and broken man with greasy hair. but that's exactly how i like my obi-wan kenobis, so i was thrilled every episode lol but i'm sure other people hated it and boycotted and whatever. but i found my corner of the fandom who also enjoyed that and it's been wonderful <3

clexa au where clarke has a twin.

avery and her were able to regularly switch places because they were identical and Avery took much more after Jake so was very techy. after clarke got arrested, however, she was forced to live under the floors. Post season 1, so avery came down with everyone else and pretends to be clarke while clarke's stuck in the mountain.

Avery as Clarke's reminder of who she once was, avery learning about the actions of her mother, avery grieving wells's death, avery falling in love with earth during a war, avery plunged into a war bc overnight her nerdy loser sister suddenly because a general? an amazon? a warrior woman? Clarke looking at avery and seeing youth, idealism, feeling older than the girl who was always literally in parallel with her entire life, trying to preserve her sister's image of her and incapable of doing so, people dying so quickly, people dying even faster, clarke the reason for it, my sister my responsibility

and don't even get me started on lexa, lexa who loves clarke the moment she sees her, lexa who has had to force her tender heart into a metal vault because the second someone touches it again it shatters. lexa meeting clarke who's idealistic and kind but knows what war is and lexa meeting Avery who is just, a child. an eighteen year old that has never left her mother's arms for any real length of time, never grappeled with the value of a human life. and avery is plunging herself into danger at every point. bc you know who it would make sense to go into the mountain to spy? the person with a background in tech, who the 100 would trust, who the mountain won't be looking for, who can handle tight spaces. it's not avery's fault, it's hard to be grounded when you've been on the ground for less than a month, it's hard to contemplate mortality when you never got to see your own father die, when you didn't have to sing atom to sleep, when you didn't have to pull a lever that could've killed your closest friends, when you've just been with your mother,

don't even get me started on raven, raven who abby hires because she can't lose another daughter, avery who finds out much later, and has to grapple with that, raven who has to grapple with that. that there's a hierarchy of importance and raven places third on it, and yes that's something that's obvious but it's hard, and maybe she would be able to walk without a brace, and avery who's mom killed her father and who still doesn't trust avery to fix a ship, who let clarke fall off the ark but wouldn't let avery, who chose clarke as the name to register on the ark's database bc clarke was ten minutes older, clarke who always comes first, and avery who never gets let go.

so maybe she goes into that mountain to get away from her mother, maybe she goes into it because watching raven hobble around makes her sick, maybe she goes into that mountain because she is an expendable version of Clarke, she always has been, and if she dies in that mountain she'll be doing what she was born for, and if she lives maybe she'll finally be done, and can be anyone else, maybe even no one.

something about second chance shadow since it’s been on my mind lately

if you pull back the curtain and look at just how the ARK scientists treated him and how gerald wasn't always really around, shadow objectively didn't have a nice childhood. gerald didn't deliberately mistreat him, but he certainly wasn't warm. his affections were conditional, and he was prone to blaming shadow for his own shortcomings/really hammered in the need for shadow to be "perfect", while a majority of the other scientists treated him as nothing more than an experiment. it was the 50s. look me in the eye and tell me it would've been any different. they just tended to be a bit more blasé about it when gerald wasn't around, which was often. vicious cycle.

all this to say shadow was constantly under a lot of stress during some critical times in his development. he did not come out of the tube 100% fully grown like canon shadow presumably did. all of it combined led to him being physically unstable. i once called him a "DNA-melted runt", and in some sense i was being literal. the stress tests he was put through on the ARK were so much that it stunted his growth. and at one point, it got so bad that the upper portion of his left arm literally started to melt, like the cellular makeup was coming undone.

any iteration of shadow derived from this AU as its base reflects that. second chance shadow himself wears a compression sleeve over that spot. lab rat shadow's entire left arm Literally Fell Off leading up to his escape, so it was replaced with one of metal medic's. neutral end was pulled from the ARK right around the time his arm started to melt for the first time, so he was given a metal cuff to support it like second chance's compression sleeve. weird alien DNA = compression accelerates healing.

semi-modern wasn't pushed that hard during his time on the ARK, or at least had a better work/rest balance, so he doesn't have the same issue. but any shadow who started to "melt" like that even once on the ARK is stuck with it for the rest of their life.

second chance regularly pushes himself enough just in general that he's always at risk of literally coming undone. these days he wears braces/compression sleeves over any section that's sustained past critical damage, including a portion of his upper right thigh that had also started to melt as a result of going too fast for too long when he was already extremely overworked. he's medically obligated to pull the brakes pretty often to keep his physical/emotional stress levels balanced so he doesn't literally lose an arm or a leg like lab rat did.
