Twitterati welcomes 280 characters in Twitter

Twitter has increased the word limit for its users to 280 characters. 

The social networking site initiated the move to draw more users.

Twitterati reacted to the extension of the word limit.

Many of them were quite happy to see the extension.

However, some users were not satisfied and demanded an edit button.

Initially, Twitter allowed its users just 140 characters which were not enough for its users to express their opinions. 

Twitter had started testing the increase of its word limit in early September. 

The word limit has been increased to all languages except for Japanese, Korean and Chinese as these languages did not have any space limitation. 

The social networking site has been trying to modify its features to attract more users and compete with the leading media sites.

Twitter is also working on introducing 'Save For Later' feature to bookmark posts for its users.
