for the ones I've posted so far only one of them is an actual oc that I use consistently, its the one of the lil guy in an apple!! The others are just unique to the pieces :)

A page from my sketchbook of them hehe. They have three names but I mainly refer to them as noma for consistency's sake. It's short for anomaly! To summarize, they're a shapeshifter with very little control of the shifts, which are heavily tied to their thoughts and feelings. They have no idea what their true form is, and even the way I depict them isn't how they would actually look like most of the time. It's more so to make them recognizable.

I find it easier to get across their situation in the form of questions. Were they a monster to begin with or did seeing their self as one make them become one? How would you break such a cycle if what your thinking is manifesting itself to be true? if they learn to accept this part of themself would they lose it?

They feel like something is inherently different about them from other people, and those thoughts cause shifts. But they aren't incorrect in thinking that way because they have this abnormal.. ability(?) So is it self afflicted or isn't it?

heurhgh. thinkin abt the prince and the sea witch AU because i am an ocean boy and and and theres so much to thinkabout with this one!!!! i love aus that tap into classic fairytales becasue theres so much to work with!!! connections to make and parallels to draw

context and thoughts under tha cut cus this au sorta escaped me at first and there's very little stuff about it in english

the original au came from a leaflet that was bundled with volume 8 on toranoana:

rough translation explains that mermaid princess hinaichi rescued prince ronaldo, and sea witch draluc offers to give her legs to meet him again (and if he doesn't like her she'll turn into seafoam) which she declines. (literally what she says is "no need!" and the big words to the side of her say "no regrets" which is hilarious.) thats the end of the story and ronaldo is left alone. also, john is a sea turtle that lives in a clam.

im lifting my own headcanons and such from the original little mermaid story (not so much the didney one) where the prince doesn't see the mermaid and instead falls in love with this woman who comes to help him from a nearby temple (who he doesn't realize is actually the princess he's betrothed to later.) in this au that's draluc who was observing from a distance. (i just drew a half sunken agora and im calling that a temple. watever. its refd from one of the old arts and i think its pretty)

i like the idea that ronaldo exaggerates his own memory of spotting draluc that day due to the distance making details difficult paired with the fact that he was probably a little delirious. the idea that he doesn't immediately put together that draluc is the person he saw is kinda fun 2 me, and of course he'd make up some beautiful girl in his head. of course he would.

im messing with some ideas about draluc deciding to meddle with ronaldo instead - does he offer to turn him into a merman to look for his made up maiden? or does draluc come to land for his own reasons? maybe they visit each other at the temple every day and bring each other little things and talk and stuff. itd be cute if they butted heads but still went to see each other every day anyways.

a popular thing in the au is draluc being captured - maybe ronaldo, desparate to find his love and only knowing she was some sort of fish, does something stupid like setting up nets and traps. hahah. maybe he catches draluc and takes him to his castle to learn about merfolk and such. iunno. whatever the case i hope they fall in love in the process and also bicker a lot like their usual schtick

ive got a little sad idea that borrows from some 30 years later au stuff where draluc is worried about ronaldo's lifespan (this is also in the orig little mermaid where mermaids live longer than humans by hundreds of years) but also can't turn human to match ronaldo because it's too painful for him to walk on legs (since one of the au rules is that he must always be weak and the orig little mermaid made it clear that legs hurted real bad)

also also i very big headcanon draluc the sea witch has a sunken castle that looks a lot like ponyo's dad's house on the inside. fulla potions and stuff. wouldnt that be cute! maybe hes got an interest in human life/a collection of old things kinda like didney little mermaid - since canon draluc is so well adjusted to modern human stuff like games and livestreams and whatnot. in this au i think he'd be a lot more stubborn and reluctant to admit it, though, cus i also like the idea that his grandpa went the route of loving a human and going to land and maybe he doesn't want to end up like that? but it might be fate just cus draluc and ronaldo parallel D and helsing so well.

also i still want hinaichi to be in it but her rejection of the plot is so funny and good, i don't want to shove her in without thinking of a good way for it to make sense. she's good friends with draluc and likes his cooking...can you cook underwater??? maybe magically?? maybe draluc takes up cooking on land and brings hinaichi things he makes??? maybe then she gets interested in humans and wants to come to land to try all the cooking theyve got. iunno.

i usually keep this sort of note taking and doodling to myself but this fandom needs all the stimulation it can get. hiii hellooo :]

phoenix's entire schtick is bluffing i KNOW he can spin a good tale. also i bet he was into improv when he was in college, goddamn theatre kid. kristoph is better with gossiping and rumours but cant tell a story for shit honestly. not that he doesnt have any imagination it's just that storytelling requires an amount of improvising that kristoph just Can't Do, he usually plans everything ahead down to the last detail.

9- What are their thoughts on having children?

or in this case more children. tbh i think kristoph wouldnt want to have children, he's perfectly content sharing his life with his dog and no one else. of course his feelings about family change slightly when he becomes a cog in the wright family clockwork, but he wouldnt exactly consider himself a coparent to trucy.

also i have this hc that one day trucy makes a mistake like she gets into trouble at school or she accidentally breaks a mug or something, and phoenix handles it so gently, like it's okay trucy, we'll figure this out/clean this up together. no getting angry no yelling or anything.

and kris is frozen by how that's. an option. logically he knows that, but its so different knowing in his head vs seeing with his eyes. he almost wants to tell phoenix to be harder on trucy (because thats how he learned discipline) but he doesnt. he thinks about that moment for days and it kinda solidifies for him that he doesnt think he could have children.

phoenix is the kinda guy who used to be like "i dont necessarily plan on having kids, but if my partner wants them them then im down!" but after adopting and raising trucy for a bit hes so in love w the idea of having more. he wants a big family (like he never had) and knows trucy would love younger siblings. i think, once he gets his badge back and is stable, that fostering would be something he considers. but honestly he should get around to telling trucy and apollo the truth first.....

Also that visual imagery of Ace stepping up to protect Sabo from a force he's frankly outclassed against?? Yeah that's supreme grade 👌👌👌 right there. Might be a walk in the park for Sabo to handle himself but Ace is his own true and faithful knight for a reason. Of course he'll willingly put himself in harms way for Sabo 11 times out of 10

Hehe ok now that you've put the scene in my head I have another magic question to ponder over: Do you think Ace's sword gets high buff magical RES too? Just for situations like these?? Maybe Sabo has to meticulously mess with it and even then it's a one-and-done kinda deal but imagine an enemy firing a spell off that Ace just slices through no problemo, cuts it like butter. Would certainly think twice about doing the same thing again, and Ace can probably bluff his way into them thinking his sword can just always deflect magic like nothing.

For Ace’s sword yah!! I think Sabo’s tinkered with it much to the smithy’s dismay, “your highness tampering with the foiling magically will ruin its durability!” (whatever its called when swords are folded and worked over and over theres a term i just forgor)

Sabo sniffinf haughtily bc he already thought about the enchantments compromising the steel and had sewn in material binding spellwork too

Ace’s sword is a loaded die so to speak, it may cleave a magic meteor in two one day and fail to block even a spark another, such is the effect of a non mana emitter wielding an enchanted weapon

Ace’s mana siphon tattoos and markings only allow him to cast incantations he’s learnt, wielding an enchanted item is purely at the ebb and flow of mana itself, now if Sabo deigned himself to handling Ace’s sword (heh.) it would do as its enchantments command it bc Sabos an emitter and probably in his hands would work a little too well

But yes Ace bluffing his way into making people think he can always slice through magical attacks like deep down hes like whAaat THEE FUUUUUUCK and Sabos just smirking like heh. Thats my knight

Just gotta say, I’m someone who doesn’t dress up very much. And I didn’t dress up today, but I do have one (1) outfit I put together specifically because I thought it would look cool. It’s not a lot. It’s a la morte knight t-shirt [surrounded by skull-faced angels and a church facade, probably the most metal thing I own] plus sword earrings, a big heavy knight pendant [mimicking the knight pose on the shirt] and a couple black rings. It’s very goth, very knight, and it’s my comfort outfit in that it hits that nice niche of “you’re fucking bizarre” and “you probably listen to too much punk music”.

Anyway, I’m someone who doesn’t dress up much, and an outfit with 2 bits of coordinating jewelry qualifies as “dressing up” for me. And I wore that to breakfast with my sister today.

We go out, and this poor, poor waiter we ended up with looked absolutely -- not starstruck, it’s not that cool, but he did look kinda floored. He started his schtick of “Welcome to X how many people -- you have a knight on your shirt.” and then he squinted and leaned in, and said, “You have a knight on your necklace. That’s so cool.”

And then he proceeded to like, stumble over his words whenever he came to wait on us, until about the third go round he gasped, “YOU HAVE SWORD EARRINGS THATS SUCH A LOOK??”

And, so, as someone who doesn’t ever get dressed up. I’m. I get it now.

You have eight eyes and fuzzy spider skin and mandibles on the sides of your mouth and you can grow legs out of your back and shoot webs and spit venom. You have no room to talk when all this guy’s got going on is being a nerd.”

I do like the idea of Cellbit being super chill with essentially forcing himself to be a literal mythical “man-eating” monster’s roommate because he’s like “He’s barely even a monster smh, I’m kinda disappointed. I’M more of a monster than him.” Like sir your self esteem

Sorry for the spam liking! Just found you and I adore the way you draw Sabo! How did you find that style for him?

Thank you for your kind words and interest in my design process! I will not lie to you, the majority of the design choices i made did not have any deeper meaning other than “I want to”.

However i will explain my thought process to you at least because i love explaining my designs :)

I love to design characters and whenever i draw any character that isnt my own, im going to wind up putting my own spin on them in some way.

I like sabo’s base design a lot and I wanted to keep that same kind of aesthetic and feel because it is very iconic to him.

First and foremost, i must say that i just absolutely hate when anime gives blonde characters… Aggressively Yellow Hair. Like this shade of yellow is offensive to my eyes. I like using a more desaturated tan color for his hair cuz i think it just makes it look a lot more soft and fluffy

Speaking of fluffy, his hair’s gotta be fluffy. If you ever catch me drawing Sabo without fluffy hair? Shoot me dead. Drawing him without Pantoine-Pro-V-Volumizing-Ass hair is a crime punishable by death where I’m from.

For his eyes, I really just tried to find an eye shape that translated well from his canon eyes into my style. He’s got some big ol peepers on him and they're not angled in anyway really, so i just gave him big almond shaped eyes and called it a day.

I like to give him deep eye bags because i like to imagine that he just doesnt get much sleep :) also i like how it makes the bright blue eye color i give him pop.

I think its a pretty well accepted design choice to draw his face scar a lot more gnarly than it is in canon so i wont explain too much of that. I just really dont think getting shot in the face with a canon ball would result in that tiny little paper cut scar. Though i will admit my sabo’s scar is quite tame compared to most other’s interpretations of it.

I color in his upper lip like Kim Possible simply because I like to. I think it looks good and i also have problems drawing thinner lips so its kinda just a thing i do to make drawing easier.

Much like the dark upper lip reason, I also give Sabo pointy K9 teeth because I like it. I think its a cool little nod to his dragon schtick he got going on and I think it makes him look cool.

His snakebite piercings that I give him are a nod to his dragon schtick, as well. Sometimes I forget to draw them, but I always mean to.

book review for into the drowning deep by mira grant!!! spoilers under the cut! just found out the author has a tumblr well if u find this pretty please dont look theres nothing bad in here its just not for you! reviews are for readers and you can get constructive criticism from a paid editor and not random readers doing this for free :)

ok i. literally just finished this and am writing it as i am staring at the finished checkmark on my computer lol wanted to get this out so i didnt forget. anyways ok so i super liked this book. love feels like a strong word bc i think im on too much adhd meds to really feel it like that but yeah i really really liked it.

OBViously the best part about this book were the mermaids. i came into it wanting mermaids and creepy shit in the ocean and science and thats what i got. they were creepy wnd fucked up and vicious and murderous amd beautiful and i loved them so much. especially that we got their pov! and how sometimes from their pov we would get little hints of answers about them before the scientists did. i liked that. loved the ocean imagery especially from dr toth was it heavy handed? maybe. idc i love the ocean.

this was also again. creepy as fuck not downright terrifying which surprised me bc im a huge wimp. but i was on the edge of my seat and anxious and nervous for a lot of the characters... which leads me to my next point i guess i dont really feel like i connected per say with all of the characters as much as others. like i feel connected for sure to olivia, especially when its her pov, the probable undiagnosed autism diagnosis goes crazy. and i really liked the wilsons, luis was nice, i liked dr toth. everyone else i didnt really care. which is fine i read this for cool mermaids !!

another thing i would kill for more of was the linguistics with hallie and lennox and the mermaid like i fucking LOVE that shit, and also what happened to said mermaid other than just a small bit at the end about it being bought by some rich guy. also would like to see more of the matriarch mermaid. i love the absolute ancient and archaic nature of creatures that are just fuckin so big, especially when it relates to the ocean. and also maybe i missed where her size was actually describe and im generally really bad at conceptualizing how big things are when just given like. measurements but i was picturing this thing as more colossal than anything else, which would tie into luis' research, right?? pretty sure that was his whole schtick and i wanted more of that... i do appreciate the mystery however. this book left me with questions, and not in a like this was filled with plot holes kinda way but more of a i need to know more this is probably how all those scientists felt kinda way. i like that i think. absolutely love how in these reviews im just spitballing ideas and seeing what sticks who knows tomorrow i probs wont agree with half the shit im saying but who cares. im working out my thought irl and this is what happens. on another note we had anchovies out for dinner and im not normally squeamish about them but. looking at them when reading this book did make me feel a bit weird so theres that. 4/5 stars had fun would recommend

I'm not gonna lie this one kinda got outta hand. Runaway moderate angst train. If you wouldve rather gotten something lighthearted and fluffy, just shoot me another ask and I can do that too.

-Bulkhead takes awhile to get past the whole incident where Megatron kidnapped him. Threatening his friends like that was not very cash money of him, and Bulky holds a mean grudge. Its gonna have to be a good long while after the conflict dies down for them to be okay with being anything more than just tense ex-enemy acquaintances.

-If a truce happens, in the very least between team prime and team megs, it's likely that a part of that will be rebuilding what got destroyed in the battles, forcing the two to interact. Megatron tries to be amicable. Bulkhead's having none of it.

-One history lesson later, and Bulkhead is still massively skeptical and still pretty angry over every shitty thing the decepticons did, but he's seeing it less as black and white. Especially after corroborating with ratchet to make sure Megatron wasn't just making shit up about Warframes being mistreated.

-Bulkhead catches himself actually feeling pretty bad for what Megatron went through. He knows first servo what it's like being written off as nothing but a force of destruction. It doesn't excuse what he did, but he can't help himself from being sympathetic.

-Megatron genuinely wants Bulkhead to see his own worth and potential. To Megs, Bulkhead is this sweet, pretty, young thing that's been told time and time again by Autobot society that he's unintelligent, oversized, unappealing, and only good for breaking stuff, when every single one of those things is untrue. And it breaks his spark a little seeing the guy beat himself up when he's got so much to offer.

-It takes Bulkhead a long time to drop his guard at all around Megatron. At least a few months after their initial conversation. But when they do start talking, Bulky comes to the very conflicting conclusion that when Megatron isn't being a ruthless tyrant, he's actually... Pretty normal? He's just a guy. Classy, sarcastic, witty, actually pretty funny when e wants to be. All things considered, he's good company. And he can't really deny that the guy has quite a bit of charm.

-the bot-con truce is... Tentative. Tense. Both sides do what's agreed upon and they don't interact beyond what's necessary, for the most part. Nobody's really tried to, until Bulkhead asked Megatron to hang out on Dinobot Island after their shift fixing an overpass starscream crashed into. Needless to say, Megatron was extremely confused, but so endeared he couldn't say no.

-Megs actually takes interest in Bulkhead's art. The visual arts have been a core part of Decepticon culture since the Great War started, although usually with much bleaker themes than what Bulkhead makes. It's a nice reminder to him that self expression can be soft, and sweet, rather than a grim reminder of something awful.

-Bulkhead thinks it's really funny that Megatron doesn't know all that much about Earth, and what he does know is taken pretty far out of context. His attempts to introduce the con to videogames have been comedy gold. The big scary Decepticon tyrant can't figure out the controls half the time, and the pokemon type matchup chart is entirely beyond him.

-Bulkhead has gotten Megatron with Deez Nuts at least twice.

-Megatron loves that Bulkhead is so round and cuddly, especially because his Autobot status make him pocket sized to a bigass Warframe like megs. He's very friend shaped, perfect for picking up and snuggling up to, which leaves Bulkhead, invariably, flustered as all hell every time.

-its not a perfect relationship by any means. There's trust issues on both sides. Bulkhead is still always nervous Megatron might go back to being evil, and Megs is always worried whether this sweet Autobot might give into fear and shun him. They can both be stubborn as mules when they want to be, so it takes them a long time to make up after fights. But at the end of the day, Megatron has enough life experience to know letting petty squabbles tear someone away from you is a horrible thing, and Bulkhead went into the relationship knowing Megatron is flawed and often frustrating. They make it work.

-For all Megatron talks of letting Bulkhead see how wonderful he really is, Bulkhead wishes Megatron would practice what he preaches. The con seems to really believe his very existence is a sin he has to atone for, that he has to fix the universe just to make up for being in it. His insistence that he's an awful person is a self fulfilling prophecy, and bulk just wishes he could see that for what it is.

Listen this entire au is so nice because it's kinda slice of lifey and sure there's still the real danger of Hotguy's daily life off the page (and Cuteguy maybe). (Also let's remember the whole mess in the Incredibles and not recognizing danger) But it's such an outlet for Mumbo considering his job, as well as being able to at least pretend and write out/off his crush for Hotguy. There's just something wonderful and kinda satisfying about it.

Funny enough my usual schtick is hurt and comfort. There's no way at some point Mumbo doesn't write a chapter on Limbo Jimbo awkwardly trying to work through the kinks of working with a superhero and his day job. And having an injured Hotguy where there's a ton of intimacy and trust in the scene because man. Letting someone help patch you up? Letting yourself be vulnerable in someone else's presence? (Chef's kiss) Perfect material.

Also guarantee Scar has tried to use a few fanfiction lines as Hotguy to Mumbo but Grian keeps ruining it.

It's amazing to hear that you enjoy this silly au :DD I'd be lying if i said i didnt put a healthy bit of projection into it, especially back when i made it those couple months ago. I did highlight the monotony of Mumbo's day to day and how frustrating and exhausting it can all be, but even at the end of the worst day there's always your favorite fictional guy to look forward to (or, in Mumbo's case, a very real guy, who you're also unaware of already being friends with cksnj). For Mumbo that fantasy of being with a superhero is as much of an escape from reality as it is something within his reach (tho he doesn't know that yet). I also like to keep it lighthearted and humorous cuz, yeah, Mumbo may be a bit miserable, but there's something absurd about it all, and there's humor to be found even in the most mundane parts of life :))

It's technically a superhero au, and yet thats not whats really important about it at all (at least not until Mumbo and Hotguy meet) Like you said, everything Hotguy does is off the page, and it's all very slice of life-esque skdjkc

and YEAH.... you better believe he's writing Limbo Jimbo x Hotguy hurt/comfort about the struggles of superhero life and patching up wounds!!! I'd imagine that's a go-to scenario for him to daydream about sknzkxj

and.....scar WOULD. 100000% he would try to (badly) flirt with Mumbo using his own knowledge of the guy against him. He would still fumble so bad but it would make Mumbo explode anyway kxjks

I have come back from writers block with another fun MHA AU (its not really too serious, this is all just for fun :) )

What if MHA characters were Strawberry Shortcake Characters (I would add pics, but Tumblr is being quite stupid so… feel free to google them, but I mostly got their personalities from the 2003 series, and I imagine that thats what their clothes would look like if they were in Strawberry Shortcake)

Deku: Strawberry Shortcake (Pretty Self Explanatory. Main character, One of the sweetest people you will ever meet).

Eri: Apple Dumpling (The little sister and liitle kid of the group. Also kinda self explanatory!)

Sero: Orange Blossom (I love Sero, I love Orange Blossom, perfect fit. Also its cannon that Sero likes Oranges!)

Momo: Peach Blush (“Momo” is the Japanese word for “peach”. In addition, her wiki says that “Peach is a delicate, generally nice and always polite southern bell. She can be a drama-queen sometimes and worries over the really simple things from time to time, even if nobody else has just yet.” Sounds like Momo!)

Bakugou: Pepermint Fizz (Peppermint and Bakugou are literally the same person lmfao. No but seriously, they share so many similarities, like their jealous and aggressive attitudes (especially to the main character), thats why I put them together)

Mic: Cherry Jam (Cherry Jam is the musician of the group, which to me fits Mic’s whole schtick)

Jirou: Ginger Snap (I could have made Jirou Cherry Jam, but she just fits Ginger Snap so much more, since they are the tomboys of their respective groups)

Shirakumo: Blueberry Muffin (Blueberry Muffin’s wiki says “Blueberry always tries to keep her friends in line and is almost always the first to admit her mistakes. Blueberry brings her sense and level-headedness to the group and really cares for her friends. That love for her friends helps her to be humble and modest and tells her that her friends mean more than anything to her.” That reminds me of Shirakumo very much)

Mount Lady: Lime Light (They act the same, and even had the same character development in their respective arcs. They also just look the same lmao).

Kamui Woods: Lime Chiffon (The wiki says she was the bubbly and kinda ditzy one, which kinda fits I think, but I just chose this for Kamui because he and Mount Lady could share the lime motif lmao)

Jeanist: Raspberry Torte (The wiki says Raspberry is “sarcastic and easily annoyed” in the 2003 version, and the 2009 version makes her a fashionista, so it kinda fits!)

Edgeshot: Lemon Meringue (Lemon’s wiki says “She is kind and caring to her friends and she always tries to work as hard as she can to make others happy”. She likes to chat and knows a bit of gossip, but she does never usually trifle with in anything that could hurt the feelings of someone else” which I think fits Edgeshot really well!)

Nighteye: Plum Puddin’ (Wiki says Plum Puddin’ is a prankster and loves to laugh. Need I say more :) )

Raspberry Torte and Lemon Meringue are usually paired together in the series. They debuted together, and in the show they are best friends.

I wanted to share this quote from the wiki: “They used to live somewhere else until they moved to Strawberryland [Referring to Raspberry and Lemon]. They are often seen sitting together, or walking together and holding hands.” If this fact doesn’t fulfill my love for Egdejeanist I dont know what does.
