Soap gets shot in the chest plate while on a mission, it throws him onto his ass, and knocks the wind from him. And you know how sometimes you could experience something like a hundred times, then theres just this one random time that's different, yeah that.

And soap's on the ground gasping for breath, scrabbling at his vest, when Ghost slides down next to him. Ghost grabs the front of his vest and yanks him up off the ground.

"I ca- I can't- breathe- I- breathe- can't-" he gasps frantically, grabbing at ghost's wrist or his vest, he doesn't know which.

"Breathe, Johnny, breathe." He grunts.

And just like that, his lungs decided to function properly again. And the sucking void in his chest was more of an ache than anything else.
