I keep forgetting to make this post, but something I don’t see anyone bringing up is how many succubi are at the anti-blitzo party. Do you ever think that maybe the reason so many people have been hurt by him despite it being a bunch of one-night stands is because he also stole from them? Like you wake up after some good sex only to find the guy is gone and so is your most precious possession? The one that would get you into massive shit if your boss found out you lost it but you need to do your job so you HAVE to admit you were careless enough with it that some rando stole it?

the main thing that my brain's been looping on tonight is that the prem is like. Not a pleasant work environment. it's not now and it especially wasn't when roy was Big. i get that we as a fandom watch a show that's meant to be relatively lighthearted but like. the easiest way to put this (i'm sleep deprived and this is gonna be rambly im sorry) is that the homophobic slur from 3x09 is pretty much the baseline of what it's like to go to a prem game. if you go on twitter after matches you'll see people reporting what they heard, and then you'll see other people replying to them calling them soft (or other slurs)

what i'm saying is the fanbase is more james tartt and less ted lasso ygm

and then roy especially but probably some of the other boys too aren't gonna be all. politically correct/know different queer labels/label themselves past gay/straight. these guys grew up (all of them) in the academy system where they were surrounded by this extremely toxic heteronormative masculinity from very young ages (yes i repeat every single one of them you kind of have to go through the academy system to get to the level where you're playing prem football)

i also think roy especially probably has outdated views about disability - i don't think he would ever want to be seen as "weak" (i have chronic pain i don't believe having chronic pain is weak but i do think it's the way roy would view it – we see him doing everything in his power to avoid being seen in pain publicly in rainbow - he's doubled over in pain in the tunnel, but he straightens his spine and steels himself so that that crowd (and the ones watching on tv) won't see him physically hurting)

also completely an aside but i saw that poll that was like "the boys having girlfriends came out of nowhere" no it did not lmao a majority (idk stats but i know from like. observation) of these guys have long term girlfriends, maybe wives, maybe kids. i'm surprised we don't see more players interacting with their kids in the show tbh, but there's only a certain amount of time for them to show that. it's genuinely a surprise to me that there were that many single guys to do the bantr ad in s3 with keeley and shandy bc in my mind almost every single one of them is in a long term relationship probably with kids

i think it could be fun to write out roy learning to be softer with himself and others, but in my brain (again this is all headcanon you don't have to agree with me), roy's probably said slurs on camera before, jamie probably wouldn't know the word bisexual (and if he did - entirely possible that keeley taught him - i don't think he'd label himself as such), most of the boys have wags/kids, and there aren't any out gay players in the prem (which makes colin's strength to come out to the team and the trust he has in trent significantly more weighted, imo)

this is all rambling but uh. if you need me to unpack anything more i can lmao
