Chapter Five:
you wanted to immediately run for the shower. your blouse was starting to stick to you; you felt so unclean. not just because you had been in the same clothes for 24 hours, but because of tanner.
before you could get to the bathroom you checked kailee’s room for her. you forgot to tell her where you were last night and knew she was probably worried sick. opening the door, you saw she wasn’t in her room.
you checked your phone and saw dozens of missed calls and texts from her. she wrote an hour ago that she was going to the police if you didn’t respond.
fuck. so that’s where she is.
you needed to call her and stop her from making a scene.
dialing her number, you thought about what to say. how could any words capture the last 24 hours? she answered within two rings and sounded frantic.
“oh my god! i’m so happy you called. are you ok?! where the hell were you last night? I called and texted with no answer. fuck, i’m even outside the police station right now!”
“kailee, i’m so sorry. please calm down. so much happened and I don’t know how to tell you-”
“don’t say another word”, she cut you off, “i’m on my way home. you can tell me everything in person.”
you sighed in relief of not having to have that conversation over the phone.
“ok, i’ll see you when you get here. I love you.”
“I love you more, houdini”, she countered and hung up.
thankful that she gave you time to decompress and think about how to tell her, you got back to business.
returning to the bathroom, you turned the water to hell levels of hot and stood in front of the mirror for a second.
fuck.
you were covered in bruises.
there was a few finger shaped ones of your arm and one big one on the bottom of your breast. you felt awful.
finally, the events of yesterday settled in your mind.
the fear of seeing tanner again hit you, and you realized you hadn’t seen him today. he was gone and you didn’t know where. this terrified you more. the unsettling notion that he might come back, surprise you when your all alone. when jake isn’t there to save you. tears were flowing down your face by now and you wiped them away.
you thought you didn’t need saving, that you could handle things yourself. but it was becoming increasingly more difficult, and you couldn’t deny that tanner would’ve done worse things to me if jake hadn’t been there to stop him.
you started to feel disappointed in yourself. you never really thanked him for helping you. you had gotten wrapped up in your frustration that you failed to express how thankful you were of him in those moments.
no more dwelling on this today, you told yourself.
stepping into the shower was relieving. the hot water running over your body and through your hair started to relax you.
you started with your hair, scrubbing shampoo all over it and into every crevice, then rinsing. next was conditioner, running it through your hair with care and rinsing.
getting a squeeze of body wash on your loofah, you started to softly wash your arms.
you breathed shakily, getting flashbacks as you ran it over the bruises. then you sped up, increasing the pressure, trying to scrub as hard as you could; trying to wash him off of you. you gasped as you panted and grunted, scrubbing so hard you were turning red.
it was never going to work.
you told yourself to calm down, to center yourself. you counted down from ten, slowing your breathing. taking a second, you turned your face under the water, letting the water wash your salty tears down the drain.
you were going to leave it all here. all his touches, all the sadness, all the anxiety.
you finished washing your body and cleansed your face. you were overwhelmed. the emotions from the interview, seeing tanner, and jake swarmed your head. you were determined to leave them all in the shower.
you were pretty much done, just basking in the hot water’s peace, when your heard a door knock.
probably kailee.
you were going to be happy to see her face after the day you had.
you got out of the shower, cutting off the water and wrapping yourself in a towel. there were more knocks, growing heavier and impatient.
you started to unlock the door and open it, groaning, “kailee, don’t get your panties in a twist.”
as it opened fully, you looked up shocked to see jake.
instantly you regretted not getting dressed, or even dried off.
“don’t tell me what to do with my panties, thank you”, he smirked.
his presence drifted in the doorway: cocky and sexy. damn.
you rolled your eyes, “oh please, jake. you wish I cared about your panties.”
it was then that he realized what you were ‘wearing’, if you could even call it that.
it was a fluffy pink towel from a dollar store back home. it was wrapped tightly around your chest, emphasizing your breasts, and only reached down to your mid thigh.
it was revealing, to say the least, and you saw his eyes as they trailed your body.
he breathed deeply, meeting your eyes, as if he had been holding his breath looking at you.
“I- um, came to return this.”
he held his hand out, offering the clip that had been in your hair last night. you forgot that you had taken it out and set it on the nightstand to try to detangle your hair.
you were knocked out of his trance, smiling and replying, “oh, right. I forgot I left that there. um, thank you.”
you reached and took it, your fingers brushing his. you waited for him to pull away, to recoil at your touch. but he stayed.
the chemistry was getting to be too much for you. you found yourself questioning: did you want space? your cramped mind said yes, begging to get a break.
or did you want him? your body screamed yes. every time you were around him you were annoyed; annoyed at his arrogance, annoyed at his loud band, annoyed that you couldn’t have him in your bed. fuck, that was a thought that haunted you as soon as you imagined it. him naked, in your arms, exploring your body.
you couldn’t decide what you wanted, but you felt the heat around you both getting hotter. too hot for comfort.
you pulled your hand away, repeating, “thank you.”
he nodded, returning to the conversation, “it’s really pretty. I knew you’d want to have it back.”
you smiled, “it’s one of my favorites. although, it seems like you would benefit from it right now.”
you glanced at his slightly messy curls, giggling softly.
it was becoming painfully obvious that both of you were dancing around what you really wanted to say to each other.
he laughed at your comment, rolling his eyes.
the sight of that made your mind betray you, imagining his eyes rolling back as you took him in your mouth. fuck, could you get any peace from this need?
jake’s eyes zeroed in on the deep red marks littering your skin, frowning.
you realized that you found your chance to let him know how appreciative you were.
“I never really thanked you for what you did. i’ve known tanner for years and knew I couldn’t overpower him. who knows what he would’ve done if you hadn’t helped.” you looked at him in genuine earnest.
he nodded, reaching out and brushing one of the marks on your shoulder, causing you to melt for him internally.
“i’m sorry I couldn’t do more.” his tone was full of regret.
you hated seeing him like this, pitying you.
“what else could you do? kiss them to make them feel better?” you laughed, trying to lighten the mood.
but the mood only shifted.
his eyes flicked to yours, filled with dark desire. his breathing quickened, causing yours to do the same as you saw his thoughts plastered on his face.
your mouth opened slightly, watching both of you struggle to keep your electricity at bay.
he was slipping though, stepping closer and whispering.
“is that what you want?”
oh my god.
you could barely breathe, your eyes never leaving his.
the lust that hung in the small gap between you slowly dissipated as he blinked his eyes away and stepped back. you stood there confused as he shook his head at himself.
“i’m sorry. you’ve been through a lot lately. you should get some rest.”
you swallowed your need, nodding. one part of you was thankful that he was so considerate of your mind and body after the trauma; but another part of you was aching for him.
but you knew he had made the right choice. probably.
“i’ll, uh, see you later.” he walked towards his door.
you closed yours, catching your breath. that was so charged with sexual tension that you needed to sit down.
you made your way to your couch and lowered down onto it, sighing. maybe all of this was for the best. why were you letting your life get complicated with another relationship? hell, you need to be thinking about your ex, not some guy that likes to annoy you. a really, really hot guy who likes to annoy you.
just then another knock came.
your head shot up.
he changed his mind.
running back to the door, you flung it open.
“where the fuck have you been?”, kailee gasped, engulfing you in a hug, “you have no idea how worried I was.”

the chemistry is so sickening I can’t!!!

nights like these
Tumblr media
pairing: taehyun x f!reader
genre: college au, f2l, fluff, suggestive
warnings: shirtless taehyun (refer to picture above because god FUCKING DAMN IT TAEHYUN) also there's probably a lot of spelling errors and things that may not make sense cause I switched between my phone and my laptop multiple times writing this so just lmk in the comments... what you think!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
you didn’t expect anyone to be at the pool at this hour. it was past midnight and everyone had already said their goodnights so you thought this would be the perfect time to swim. you didn’t get to earlier when everyone had decided to go, far too busy finishing up last minute assignments while everyone rushed to get ready and head to the elevator.
it was supposed to be a relaxing three-day trip for the six of you before school started again. you had all saved up from last summer to afford this trip and make it the best but not last of all the trips you had planned. definitely not last. it was exciting and you loved traveling but if you didn’t finish up the last of your summer class you knew you would never get it done. so you stayed in your hotel room that you shared with hueningkai and he made a promise to bring back up your favorite gelato from the gelato stand in the lobby. it was sweet but you knew it was disappointing you couldn’t make it so you tried your best to finish as fast as you could before falling asleep after hitting submit. you really hadnt meant to but maybe all that lost sleep during the week before had hit all at once.
you were surprised to wake up with a blanket gently placed across your figure. you realized it was already nighttime with the only light in the room being from the moon casting its glow from the hotel window. you looked to your left to see kai already asleep in bed, cozied up between the five extra pillows he ordered to the room once you had checked in. it caused a small smile to break onto your face as you got up and stretched. you took a sip from the water bottle you had brought, the ice still fresh and cool within the bottle leaving a refreshing feeling down your throat.
you limbs ached from the awkward sleeping position you were in but now that you were wide awake you couldnt just go back to sleep. the pool started to seep into your thoughts, and after missing the opportunity earlier today you felt like it wouldn’t hurt to try tonight. the pool is open 24/7 but seeing as its not a very populated hotel you knew there wouldn’t be anyone daring to go this late in the night. better for you, you thought.
you decided to slip into the two piece you had bought awhile back. it was an expensive set for a broke college student such as yourself but so comfortable. your friend had recommended it last summer and you're glad you took their suggestion. it fit your figure well, hugging you at the waist and giving your bust a nice lift. it was in your favorite color and the shape really did it for you in ways you didn't know a swimsuit could. if you saw yourself you would probably take yourself out! not even kidding. after checking yourself in the mirror you slipped on a matching sarong and made your way to the pool.
when you reached the entrance you could only hear the subtle sounds of bubbling from the jets in the water and soft jazz music playing from the hotel speakers. it was nice and really set up the mood for your swim. you were so busy setting your things down and taking your time stepping into the shallow end to realize you werent alone. the person making themselves known with a short call from across the room.
“so you’re just gonna ignore me?”
you yelped almost slipping but your grip on the metal handrail was enough to save you of such an embarrassment. you looked over to see taehyun, shirtless in the jacuzzi area of the pool.
“don’t mind me though.. i’m enjoying the view.”
you gave a subtle roll of your eyes towards his direction when he let out that soft chuckle of his. you took a minute to take him in, shirtless and settled in the jacuzzi. god he looked good. Don’t get me wrong, he always looks good but right now.. in front of you.. he was something else. ethereal. the water droplets just complimenting his firm chest, the shitty lights glistened against his skin that he somehow made look so good.
“why are you even here? its like 1am?”
“i could ask you the same thing”
“okay well i thought you had a bedtime sir”
“just because i keep a well organized schedule doesnt mean anything and stop calling it a bedtime!”
you chuckle.
“whatever.” you say as you sink further into the water, enjoying the way the cool temperature sets all around your body. the water felt good against your skin and you missed the feeling of swimming every summer since away for college.
you chose to float around a little bit in the empty pool for a minute before he broke the comfortable silence.
"how was your nap? i know you must've needed it being a bio major and all."
"uh it was.. good, how do you even know I feel asleep?"
"..kai sent a pic of you to the gc."
"OMG he always catches me at the worst moment" you cried out as you waved your arms at his revelation. it caused a bit of water to splash around and he chuckled at your little action.
"don't worry, it was cute."
"yeah with my face in my keyboard." you retorted back.
he just laughed, that handsome sound resonating across the room and into your heart. if you couldn't even handle it from here you don't know what you would do up close.
"so are you gonna keep talking to me from there or are you gonna join me?"
of course he had to ask. the thought was tempting, especially when you consider the warm bubbling public bath that is the jacuzzi. and before you know it, your body takes charge over your reluctant mind.
you don't know who or what propelled you to start walking up the steps and towards his direction but you couldn't stop now. you needed to be able to handle yourself around him and maybe you would practice that... now in front of his shirtless, sculpted figure.
he looked even better up close, you didn't even know how a person could make the poor lighting so good.
finally, you took the first step, taking all the willpower in you to not shiver against his gaze. you felt how he stared at your figure from head to toe as you slowly submerged yourself into the jacuzzi, allowing the ripples in the water to guide you to a seat in front of him. the jets against your back felt nice, it was something you tried your hardest to focus on without being too obvious you were a little bothered in more ways than one.
you knew you shouldn't think about him like this, having been friends since elementary school. your true day one. that day you had met on the playground was still so vivid in your mind. he had been nearby when you slipped on the vault bar trying to impress your friends with a flip of your own. it was really embarrassing thinking back on it, your friends hadn’t moved an inch from their spots on the bar to check on you so you laid there body still on the red rubber floor and head still stinging from the impact. you wanted to lay there forever, if even your friends didn’t care then you shouldnt either and that meant not getting up. you were gonna close your eyes until a short head of hair appeared above you, blocking the sky from your vision.
“hey are you okay?” the boy you recognized from your class asked. his eyes stared into your own with utmost concern laced within them.
“uh.. yeah”
“here.” he lent out a hand for you to take. you were reluctant at first but eventually took it, he was sweet enough to ask you if you were okay so you might as well.
“my names taehyun!”
“my names y/n!” sharing his cheerfulness.
“wanna go play on the swings?”
you almost said yes immediately but looked back to see your friends still enveloped in their conversation about the dolls that were popular at the time. making a new friend wouldnt hurt, you thought.
“yes!” and took his hand in yours to run towards the swings before anyone else took them.
sitting there in front of him like this was normal. it wasn’t like you’ve never been swimming together its just that.. lately you realized how the term “best friends” didnt seem to fit the feelings you had towards him. and it made this moment feel.. different. you blame your little crush on that fact that he had a massive glowup after highschool and started working out more. his arms toned and bare in front of you glistened in the dim lights the pool room provided but it gave enough to allow you to see how the water droplets slide off of his skin so nicely, everytime he moved to adjust his position they would flex in a way that made you feel… god you need to stop ogling your best friend of all things but you couldn’t with the way he looked so addicting.
you easily slipped into conversation, talking to each other was easier than breathing and he was always someone you loved to listen to. he was so smart and you’ve known that being in several classes together. he always had great advice whenever you needed it and you appreciated every bit that was kang taehyun.
you hadnt realized how close you two had gotten in the jacuzzi until you reached out to push his chest from you after he had made a joke. it barely took anything to lift your arm up to push back his chest and your eyes widened at the contact. you may have let your hand wander a little too long against it, you couldnt help it! but as soon as you realized it you took your hand away. soon becoming embarrassed and slipping your arm back into the water at your side.
“y/n”
“yes?” you refused to look up. you knew there would be a teasing look on his face and you didnt want to give him the satisaction.
“look at me.” he requested. but after you had refused he took it into his own hands, quite literally, and placing his palms below your jaw, pulling your face up to look him in the eye.
“what?”
“nothing. just wanted to see your pretty face again.”
“stop messing around”
“im not though. you’re really pretty, y/n”
your cheeks couldnt help but turn into a reddish hue and your ears perked up at the compliment. he thought it was cute how easily flustered you got at the simplest of compliments.
“cute” he said, as he tucked a loose strand of your damp hair behind your ear.
“dont say things you dont mean, tae. i know you’re only teasing.”
“you think.. i'm just teasing?”
“well.. aren't you?”
“i never thought of it like that.. didnt know it came off that way.”
you felt bad you didnt mean to say anything that would hurt his feelings.
“i-“
“guess i’ll just have to spell it out for you now.” and he winked. god that wink.. it was so cheesy but you couldnt help the butterflies that swarmed your stomach.
you hadn't noticed how the distance between the two of you was nearly gone, your faces just inches apart and noses brushing past one another the more you stayed in this position. he was so close yet so far. you didnt know what to do, looking from his lips to his eyes in an attempt to see what lie beneath them. you didnt know what he was thinking or if it would be okay to
but, he knew what you were thinking, he always did. choosing to speak first.
“i want this. i want you”
“i… but”
“i want you, y/n”
it was enough to pop the turmoil that sat in your stomach and make the first move. crashing your lips onto his and allowing your arms to snake from their stilled position and around his neck. you loved the way you felt him shiver under your touch when you ran your hand through his hair. the way his hands seemed to find purchase at your waist, massaging circles into your hips felt too good to be true. you loved the way he tasted, the familiar minty toothpaste he used still laden on his tongue.
“god, you’re so beautiful”
you never knew you would hear those words escape from his lips. sure he’s called you cute and pretty numerous times before but never in the way he says it now. chests colliding and bodies moving in sync as if it was meant to be like this forever.
his words only allowed the heat against your cheeks to brighten and he knew you were blushing. making it worse as he teased your sides causing u to squirm against his hold.
“you don’t know.. how long.. i’ve been wanting to do this with you. to do this to you.” he said between kisses.
“god, you make me crazy” you couldnt agree more.
maybe it was the heat from the passionate makeout sesh you were having with tyun or the still warm jacuzzi but your senses were constantly on overdrive. completely enveloped in the feeling he gave you. it left tingles down your spine and your brain on 100. your legs felt like jelly with the way he so expertly knew how to hold you, knew how to touch you to make you melt against him. it made you wonder if you knew him the same too?
“WTF get a room!”
you immediately jumped back at the sound of another voice coming from the doorway. but taehyun held you firm, looser than before but close enough for you not to leave his side. you could see the way he stared at the voice with such annoyance.. you knew you shouldnt have been feeling this way especially with a third party now in the room but the butterflies really flew down to your kitty causing you to clench your thighs together.
“go back to your room, beomgyu.”
“yeah yeah i can see. you’re busy.”
“whatever.”
“don’t mind me then!” beomgyu shouted.
he finally looked away from gyu as a big splash is heard from the main pool followed by a few other voices you can tell are getting closer to entering the room. the expression on his face immediately softens as he locks eyes with you. and he leans down to whisper in your ear
“why dont we find ourselves another place… to continue”
god he made you feel so crazy. but you didnt want it to stop.
you followed him like a puppy, still latched to his side hands intertwined. you allowed him to walk you two to his room which was fortunately just him. he had won the bet to have a room to himself and now it really was putting all the benefits to work. (in his favor?)
but once you had got into the room he got shy.
“ah sorry.. maybe you dont want to actually.. continue..” he said as he scratched the back of his neck.
“uh no no dont be sorry i..”
“i wont.. i wont do anything if you say you dont want to”
“i want to. i want you. i really do.. now more than ever im sorry thats its taken me so long to-“
then he places a quick kiss to your lips as he whispers against it, already missing the feel of his plush pink against yours that are probably brazen red. “then we don’t need to waste anymore time now.”
and it was back to the feeling he gave you in the jacuzzi. the jets in the water hitting your back now absent, but instead replaced by the feeling of his strong hands having found purchase on your waist again. you fit into him so well it made him feel dizzy. he couldn't get enough of you. he slowly guided you to the bed, hands lifting your legs up against his instinctually wrapping around his waist as he softly laid you down on the bed. he broke the kiss to place more against your jawline and down your neck to your collarbone. he nipped at areas you didn’t know could arouse you, soft mewls escaping your lips at the feeling of his teeth grazing against your skin. you tugged a bit at his hair, testing the waters. you earned a deep grunt resonating from his position at your chest.
he was wrapped around your finger even if you didn’t know it. anytime spent with you is never a waste, but he would make up all of the lost time you could’ve had together in this position over and over again. but he didnt need to tell you that.. he could just show you instead.
and show, he did.

Ateez Performance Line - Part 2
Tumblr media
After two days of being laid up with the flu, Wooyoung’s condition still hadn’t improved, leaving Yunho and Mingi to continue working on the choreography for the last three songs. With their deadline looming, they agreed they’d have to put in some extra hours to finish within the week. It had become apparent to both of them how much smoother the process was as a team of three than when one member was missing. The possibility of not finishing hadn’t even been considered when they started, but without Wooyoung, they weren’t so confident anymore.
Yunho looked at his watch, realizing that it was already midnight. “Mingi, we’ve been at this since 9:00 this morning. I don’t know how much more I can do” he said honestly.
“I know,” Mingi replied, grabbing his water bottle. “But if we don’t finish this section tonight, there’s no way we’ll be able to get the other two songs done in time.”
“Wooyoung might be able to come back in a few days to help us finish” Yunho said optimistically. “We get a lot more done when he’s here.”
Mingi sighed and shook his head. “Hongjoong-hyung said that he has to be fever-free for 24 hours before he can even think about coming back to work. And Seonghwa-hyung said that his temperature hasn’t gone down much at all over the last couple days, not to mention he can’t keep anything down. Even once his fever breaks, he’ll probably need a few days to get his strength back.”
Wether he liked it or not, Yunho knew that Mingi was right, and there wasn’t any way around it. Hongjoong had already asked if they could get a few extra days but, unfortunately that wasn’t a possibility.
“What if we brought in Sannie? Or Yeosang?” Yunho asked.
“Yunho, I know you’re tired. I am too. But bringing in somebody who’s never worked with us in this capacity and doesn’t know our process? That’s not going to help anything” Mingi responded. “We just have to get to the end of this section, then we’ll go home. An hour more, two tops.”
Yunho nodded and stood up, ready to get back to work. He figured that the sooner they got back to it, the sooner they’d be done.
*~*~*~*~*~
By 1:30 AM, they had gotten through what had set out to accomplish and decided to call it a day.
“What time do you want to start tomorrow?” Mingi asked as he slid on his coat. Yunho rolled his eyes at that.
“Can we not think about that right now?” He responded with a bit of edge to his voice. “We literally haven’t even left and you already want to talk about tomorrow?”
Mingi knew Yunho well enough to know that his attitude with coming from a place of exhaustion, not anger. “I know, it sucks” he said simply. Yunho sighed, feeling guilty for snapping, but Mingi continued. “You can shower first when we get home.”
“I’m sorry,” Yunho muttered as Mingi closed the door behind them.
“Nothing to apologize for. Just get some sleep tonight” Mingi responded, locking the studio up for the night.
*~*~*~*~*~
Yunho was woken up the next morning by San. “Mingi asked me to get you up” he said apologetically after having heard Yunho finally go to bed around 2:30 that morning.
“What time is it?” Yunho asked hoarsely, his voice still heavy with sleep.
“It’s 7:00 AM” San responded, helping Yunho untangle himself from his covers. He couldn’t help but notice how exhausted Yunho was, or how pale his face had gotten since he last saw him the morning prior. “Are you feeling okay, Yunho? You don’t look so good” he asked.
“Huh? Yeah I’m fine” Yunho responded. “How is Wooyoung?” He asked, quickly changing the subject.
“Seonghwa-hyung said he slept through the night without getting sick, and his fever is down a bit this morning. They’re just hoping it stays down since it came down yesterday morning before spiking again during the afternoon. He’s been really uncomfortable and…” San continued on, but Yunho stopped following, laying back down.
“Mingi will kill me if you go back to sleep” San said, catching Yunho’s attention again.
“Okay, yeah, sorry, I’ll get up” Yunho responded, sitting up again. “I’ll be out in a minute.”
Seeming satisfied, San patted his head and stood up, leaving him alone to get dressed. Once he heard the doorknob click, he sighed deeply, holding his pounding head in his hands. Yunho knew that San usually kept some pain medicine in his bedside table, so he quickly got up and rummaged around the the drawer until he found the bottle and dry swallowed a couple tablets. As he did so, he caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror. San was right, he did look pretty pale, but then again he had hardly slept that night.
After a few more minutes of getting ready, Yunho wandered into the living room, finding Mingi ready to leave along with Hongjoong.
“Grab something to eat, Yunho,” Hongjoong instructed. “Eden-hyung is waiting for me at the studio so we have to get going.”
Yunho nodded tiredly as he absentmindedly reached for a banana off the counter before following the other two out the door.
*~*~*~*~*~
“I don’t think that would make sense, Yunho…if you want Yeosang on the left at the beginning of this formation, there’s no way he’d be able to get there after finishing the chorus all the way on the right…” Mingi said to Yunho, furiously scribbling on their white board.
“Yeah, sorry, I guess I didn’t think about that,” Yunho replied, subconsciously rubbing his temples. He typically wouldn’t miss those types of details but this wasn’t his first slip up of the day and Mingi couldn’t help but notice.
“Do you want to break for lunch?” Mingi responded tentatively. Yunho nodded lightly in response, eyes still cast down. “Okay, no problem,” Mingi said softly, “I’ll go get some food, why don’t you lie down in the lounge for a bit while I’m gone.”
Mingi felt like he was experiencing deja vu. He could tell that Yunho was trying his best, but he seemed to be all over the place today. After giving it some thought, Mingi decided that he’d see how Yunho was doing after eating some lunch and then he’d figure out what to do from there.
Mingi led Yunho to the lounge where he collapsed onto the couch immediately. As he draped a few blankets over Yunho, who’s eyes were already fluttering closed, his heart sank. As much as he wanted to believe that Yunho was just tired from the long hours they’ve been putting in the last few day, Mingi couldn’t shake the feeling that he’d be choreographing the last few songs independently.
By the time Mingi got back, Yunho was fast asleep, his body curled up, looking impossibly tiny. Mingi knelt down beside him, pulling the blankets up before laying his palm on Yunho’s forehead, finding him feverish to the touch.
There was no use in waking Yunho up at this point, so Mingi gathered up their food and quietly left Yunho to rest, flipping the “do not disturb” placard on the lounge door. After dropping his own lunch in the dance studio, Mingi proceeded to Hongjoong’s studio to let him know that Yunho would need a ride home.
*~*~*~*~*~
Hongjoong and Eden had been working on mixing a few tracks for the upcoming album when Mingi knocked on the door and entered with a dark look on his face.
“Hey, we were just about to take a break if you and Yunho want to join” Hongjoong said, closing his laptop.
Mingi shook his head as he dropped Yunho’s lunch on the desk where Eden was sitting. “Thanks, but I have to keep working. Yunho’s not feeling well, he’s asleep in the lounge. Can you arrange him a ride home? I’m sorry, I just really have to get back. I’ve got just about two and a half songs to get through and…”
“Mingi,” Hongjoong interrupted, “it’s okay. We’ll take care of Yunho. Just focus on the choreography.” Mingi nodded and left without another word.
*~*~*~*~*~
Hongjoong let out an audible sigh and he opened the lounge door, finding Yunho asleep, his face pale besides the bright flush in his cheeks. He knelt down beside him, trying to wake him without startling him.
As Yunho opened his eyes, he glanced around, confused to see Hongjoong in front of him and Eden walking through the door with his coat and bag.
“Shit, I have to get back to work” Yunho muttered, but made no attempt to get up.
“No, Yunho-ah, I’m going to take you home. You’re sick” Hongjoong replied, rubbing Yunho’s shoulder.
“Mingi needs me” he attempted to argue weakly, struggling to keep his eyes open.
“Mingi needs you to rest, so you can recover quickly” Eden interjected. “Now let’s get you up so Hongjoong-hyung can get you home and back to bed.”
Eden had just about gotten Yunho bundled up in his jacket and ready to meet the driver downstairs when Yunho stopped in his tracks, diving toward the waste bin against the wall. Hongjoong knelt down with him, trying to comfort him until Yunho seemed to be done vomiting.
“Maybe you guys should just take the bin with you, just in case…” Eden said as he helped Yunho off the floor. Hongjoong nodded, carrying it at an arms length as Eden all but dragged an exhausted Yunho to the car.
Once they had reached the car, Hongjoong helped Yunho from Eden’s arms into the backseat. “I’m sorry, hyung,” Yunho repeated to Eden, trying to bow politely before Eden reached out to stop him.
“It’s okay, Yunho, just focus on getting better. Get lots of rest and listen to your hyungs” he replied, closing the door as Hongjoong walked around to the opposite side of the car.

🥵Self bondage disaster🥵
(story did not happen to be me and is embellished for fantasy purposes)
So there I was one day, scrolling through my pathetic sissy baby cuck tumblr dashboard dripping with precum as i denied myself an orgasm when suddenly up popped a message from a friendly sissy. She’d tell me all about how our interests were similar and we began to talk more and more about diaper feminisation fantasies, i loved talking to them. They showed me pictures of all the sissy cloths and restraints they owned and i’d express how desperate i was to own such beautiful things and be forced to wear them.
One day she sent me a picture of the most regressive pink Mittened and footed romper with an attached thick leather collar to lock baby inside. I instantly began to gush to them about how much i’d adore being diapered and bound in the romper, to which Natalie suddenly became very attractive. Within minutes Natalie was laying out what she’d do to me with this romper, reading everything they said i was dripping with pre cum and desperate to do it but I didn’t have the money or time to buy all of the sissy pleasures i’d need to live out Natalie’s fantasy for me.
Telling him this, i began referring to Natalie as Daddy as he promised me excitement and humiliation if i followed his orders to the letter. Why was I listening to another sissy? Why was I suddenly willing to do what another pathetic diaper cuck told me?….. guess I’m just THAT pathetic. Daddy began sending instructions, firstly he bought everything he wanted me to wear and sent it to my home where i had to explain to my parents why i was getting packages from America 😳.
Next daddy sent me a message detailing exactly what to do, which read:
“Ok Princess Jade, you have the box i sent you don’t you?! Well this weekend book into a hotel for 2 days and use the first half of day 1 to prepare. In the box you’ll find, the romper i know you adore, a box of princess diapers, a frilly pink pair of diaper cover pants, a pink and baby blue dress, a paci gag, a baby bonnet, a long blonde wig and a video camera. On Saturday, your going to wake up, remove all your pubic hair from around your clitty, then your going to go out to a fast food place and your going to eat as much food as your stomach will hold. After than head back to the hotel and do exactly as i say!! First secure your blonde wig while staring at yourself in the mirror its the last view of the “Man” you are for 24 hours. Next, take the tub of numbing cream i put in the box and cover every inch of your pathetic clitty and raisins, that cream is super strong medical grade stuff you won’t feel your little clitty or raisins for 24 hours, it’ll be like their not there!!!. Next lay on the bed and secure 4!! Yes 4 diapers over your pathetic clitty and be well aware…. YOU WILL be needing them hahaha!!!. Once diapered thickly cover them with the frilly diaper cover pants and take another look at yourself in the mirror, i want you to see your masculinity and control slipping away. Now take the time to set up the camera at the foot of the bed and turn it on, don’t play with anything on it, just turn it on, I’ve set it up too broadcast live too my laptop !!! From there i want you to chromecast the heterosexual porn i linked to you directly to the bedroom tv!!. Once your live i want you to get ready in front of the camera!! Put on the paci gag and baby bonnet next, once your done that i want to to try say ‘help me! I’m a man’ just because i want to see how pathetic it look haha!!😈 the next step is to squeeze your overly diapered tooshy into the romper! Now theres a pink heart shaped padlock in the box, get three limbs in and zip the suit half way, then do the collar up tight and lock it shut, that should stop you forcing the neck as open, then get the other arm in and zip up the last stretch!! Now the final touch is the dress, with your pathetically mittened hands, secure the poofy petticoats of the dress over your romper encased body and finally put the dress on and zip it up as best you can!. At this point sit on the edge on the bed, look into the camera and beg me for your freedom Princess!. Lastly in the box theres a small metal box with a door and a timer lock, hahaha you don’t think I’m letting you keep the padlock key? I’ve programmed the door to open 24 hours after shutting, put the key in it and shut the door. After which i want 24 hours of footage of you, watching heterosexual porn as your hump pillows, nap under the covers, piss and eventually shit your diapers and more! Do all this Princess and I promise when its done you’ll be desperate to fly to me in America so i can control you more.!!!!😈”
There it was i had my instructions, following them to the letter I nervously travelled to other end of Scotland from where i stayed to book a hotel room for the weekend. Once there I pathetically shaved my crotch bare and followed daddy Natalie’s orders to eat lots, I figured the best idea was Mcdonnalds where i proceeded to eat 5 cheeseburgers and 2 raps as well as 5 large cokes. Heading back to the hotel room i locked the door and looked at the time, 11:00 am, my heart fluttered as I opened the box and lifted out a gorgeous long blonde wig. “Here i go….. i guess” I murmured nervously as I walked to the full length mirror on the wall and looked myself in the eye as i removed my cloths and placed the wig on my head. My heart raced with fear and excitement and i looked at myself for the first time with a mere smidge of femininity to my appearance, i’d never crossdressed or indulged physically in being a sissy before so now…. Now i was scared. However I continued to follow Daddy’s instructions as i grabbed the numbing cream and slathered my penis and testicles in a thick layer of the cream to which within moments i began to lose sensation completely in my crotch area, shocked i pinched at my ballsack and felt nothing. Being carried away in the moment i skipped one of daddy’s steps and instead set up the camera and turned it on pointing at me on the bed as i diapered myself.
Lying on my back i felt a wave of sheer demoralising encasement as i sealed my slowly growing penis away behind the first puffy Disney princess covered diaper, then another and another and then a final one. The feeling was completely new to me and it was terrifying, knowing my numb little sissy girl penis was sealed behind the 4 fluffy layers i proceeded to cover them with the frilly pants like daddy ordered. Crawling off of the bed i once again stood in front of the mirror as daddy had instructed and secured the pacifier gag and the sissy baby bonnet. Looking at my image in the mirror i hung my head in shame, why was i doing this?! Why was i letting some pathetic sissy all the way in America control me like this!? I’m m a man!? sitting on the edge of the bed in front of the camera i began to beg through the paci gag.
Looking down the lenses i said “please stop this daddy! Im embarrassed! Im taking this off i wont be embarrassed any more!” In a mumble through the paci gag, just as i was about to begin undoing my progress… my phone lit up with a message from daddy, ‘hahaha princess that was adorable but your not going anywhere! This isn’t just live it’s recording, so keep going baby your doing great. Daddy’s proud of you…. Ps thanks for the extra footage of the self diapering cucky! Haha’ with that i whimpered and continued to follow Daddy’s orders like a good helpless little cuck.
Next I put the heterosexual porn on the tv and for a moment became entranced as I imagined being the dominant man fucking his secretary in the porno. However the dream shattered as I remembered the position i was in, picking up the romper that caused all this i both hated the sight of it and was desperate to feel the restraining encasement of it! Following daddies orders to the letter before i knew it i was totally and 100% encased, the tight leather collar sat uncomfortably round my neck and the suits shiny plastic insides stuck to my skin which was beginning to sweat. Little did i know i had been leaking precum from my heavily erect numb penis the entire time.
Next i stood in-front of the camera and daddy watched as i put on the dress over the romper. Once zipped into the dress i sat on the edge of the bed, genuine fear, embarrassment, physical discomfort and arousal washed over me as i whimpered and begged down the camera for my freedom. Along the top of the tv screen playing porn daddys messages to me popped up, all it said was ‘key in the lock box princess😈’
In this moment i had a choice, tell this creepy, crossdressing pervert to fuck off and set myself free or continue to follow this loving, attentive and thoughtful daddy’s rules to ensure i was a good sissy girl for the only man who’s opinion mattered (his!)…… like the pathetic, sissy baby faggot i am….. i locked the key in the lockbox, imprisoning myself for 24 hours in the regressed prissy feminine faggot heaven that daddy had orchestrated for me.
For the proceeding couple of hours, i lay stomach on several pillows facing the camera and humping the pillows violently trying to feel any sensation in my numb penis. Little did i know i’d jerked myself off several times and my diapers were beginning to fill with cum. As the hours tore on i moan, I cried and begged Daddy Natalie for freedom down the camera and did little things that he ask as they popped up on the screen like sitting in front of the camera legs spread and rub my crotch with my mittened hands. Unfortunately because i was so numb i was also clueless i’d pissed in the diapers. Eventually after about 6 hours the clock struck 5 pm and Daddy Natalie insisted i go to sleep.
So following instructions i climbed beneath the heavy quilt while still encased in all my layers, sweating profusely i was horribly uncomfortable as i tossed and turned and even tried helplessly tugging at the padlocked collar for freedom. After about 3 hours of sweating and discomfort I eventually fell asleep listening too a horny slut being fucked by a huge dicked black man on the tv. That night i dreamt of being free, i dream that i was me dominating Sissy Natalie and forcing her through all this while i watched on laughing and demoralising her!. Fortunately this silly illusion of masculinity would shatter as i began to awaken at 11 am and was greeted by horrible stomach cramp.
‘God no please no! This cant be happening, its an hour to go then i can get out if these diapers and shit like an adult please no’ i thought as Daddy Natalie demanded i come out from under the covers and do humpies on a pillow for him. Doing as i was told i cried in pain trying to hold the massive shit in my ass while humping the pillow. Finally 15 minutes then i could be free, daddy Natalie sent demoralising message after demoralising message to embarrass me, made me stand in front of the camera looking down it and waiting for the lockbox to open.
“3……2……1……… lock box is open” the last message said. In excitement I squatted down to open the box and take out the key…..
As i squatted, my ass opened and into mu diaper exploded the waste product of 5 burgers and 2 wraps. I couldn’t control it or stop until my bowels were completely evacuated, and right on que the numbing cream began to wear off and now i could feel my horribly erect penis being smothered in a piss and cum soaked and shit fill diaper. At that i picked up the key and then lay on the bed curling into the fetal position i began to cry like a baby as i looked at the camera and whimpered……”can i get changed now daddy?”
To which the final mortifying message from Daddy appeared, “you could have stopped this any time baby girl. That lox box doesn’t have a timer you big cucky faggot hahahahahaha….. priceless! Shit yourself when all you had to do was not be a sub and disobey my orders hahaha 😈 good girl” and at that the camera turned off and the hetro porn on the tv cut out.
For the next hour I couldn’t bring myself to remove the clothing….. i’d been betrayed by my own pathetic desire to be a helpless sissy baby cuckold, eventually i stood up looking at myself in the mirror and crying.
Be very careful what you wish for, theres always a chance it comes true……..

Tumblr media
Walking around in the middle of the night just the slightest bit tipsy wasn’t the smartest thing you’ve done in your whole college career, but you could safely say it wasn’t the dumbest— Not that it was something you should be proud of.
You and your roommates had just gotten home from a party and, for some odd reason, you had the sudden urge to see one of your best friends, Iwaizumi Hajime, right at that very moment. He had been studying for midterms all week and you weren’t able to hang out with each other like you normally did, causing a Iwaizumi-shaped void that you wanted to fill. (In a strictly platonic way, of course.)
And when you were half-sleep deprived, half-inebriated, it wasn’t uncommon for you to be rather...impulsive. From ordering too much takeout from any “open 24-hour” restaurant within a five mile radius, to uploading a video of you trying to come up with the perfect pasta recipe, you’ve done a handful of bizarre things during the ungodly hours of the night. But even you weren’t sure what was going on through your mind that convinced you sneaking out of your apartment and heading to Iwaizumi’s nearby was the best course of action while still slightly intoxicated.
The clock on your phone read that it was only a quarter ‘til three and you quickly shrugged on a jacket and sent Iwaizumi a sloppy “i’m omw iwaaaachann” text before stepping foot outside your door, making sure to shut it silently as to not awaken your roommates who had just fallen asleep.
As you made your way through your apartment complex, the thought briefly crossed your mind that Iwaizumi might be sleeping at the moment, especially since he had just finished his midterm exams, but you shrugged it off. You would cross that hurdle when you got there.
And so, when you finally—through some miracle from above—arrived at Iwaizumi’s in one piece, you weren’t sure what else to do other then stare at his half cracked open window. Since he lived on the second floor, it wasn't uncommon for him to leave a window open for air to come through during the hot seasons.
“Iwaizumi!” you yelled in a quiet whisper, hoping the wind would carry your words into his apartment for you.
When you received no reply, you pulled our your phone and began to message him. Although Iwaizumi liked to pretend he was an unsentimental guy who didn’t have time to deal with others’ bullshit, it was obvious that was false. He cared a lot about everyone, especially his friends. Maybe even too much. And one of the ways he showed he secretly cared was always having his phone on full ringer in case anyone needed help in the middle of the night— Something that was surprisingly quite common when you were friends with the chaos that was Oikawa.
Would it be mean to use that knowledge to your own advantage and spam Iwaizumi until he replied?
Maybe.
But in your defense, you were practically having an emergency only he could help with. You desperately needed your Iwaizumi fix after not having seen him in over a week and there was no one better to help you that problem than Iwaizumi himself.
Besides, texting him until he wakes up would be better than Romeo-and-Julieting this and climbing in through his window. Trying to scale a building while tipsy was too idiotic, even for you.
Y/N: are u awakeee?
Y/N: wakey wakey
Y/N: i miss u :(
Y/N: i’m outside ur window wink wonk
Y/N: iwaaa >.>
There was a cacophonous sound of loud text chimes ringing one after the other followed by a deep grunt and stretching sound. You pictured Iwaizumi blearily getting out of bed and checking his phone that he kept across the room (to minimize at-night screen time, he claimed) with a heavy-lidded look on his face.
After a few seconds of unidentifiable shuffles, you heard a strangled cry of, “What the—?!” before you saw the shadow of his head through the window screen.
“Y/N?” he asked incredulously, voice still rough and scratchy from having just been awakened.
You waved, beaming wildly. “Iwaizumi!”
There was a deep sigh as he cracked the glass open even wider. “It’s three in the morning— Why are you outside my window?” He peered down at you almost stumbling on the spot. “And are you drunk?”
“Barely,” you assured, though you still felt a slight buzz in your fingertips. “I missed you so I came here.”
“I— What? I mean— Huh?” he demanded, visible confusion in his tone. He rubbed his forehead before correcting himself. “I mean I miss you too. But it’s three in the morning! You couldn’t wait to miss me in a few hours instead?”
You didn’t know whether to pout because he didn’t grow some Rapunzel hair and let you climb it up to the window and fall into his open arms like you’d imagined, or cheer because he said he missed you too. Blissfully, you chose the latter. “You miss me?”
“Is that really all you heard?” said Iwaizumi with a snort before shaking his head in defeat. “Come up here. I’ll unlock the door for you.”
Your face lit up instantly as you nodded, bounding up the stairs of his apartment building and meeting with him face-to-face at his doorstep.
He had his arms folded over his chest as he waited for you at the entrance and, though he had tired circles under his eyes and still seemed half-asleep, was looking as attractive as ever. Not even the white polka dots on his pajama shorts could talk away from that fact. If anything, it made him all the more adorable.
“Iwa-chan!” you greeted excitedly, but still careful as to make sure you weren’t loud enough to wake up his roommate. You opened your arms out and he begrudgingly accepted your embrace. (Well, he tried to seem begrudging at least. But you saw his hidden smile as you nestled your chin on his shoulder.) “I missed you.”
“You said that already, dumbass,” he said with a tsk. He patted the top of your head before pulling away from your hug promptly. “You’re cold. Have you been standing outside for long?”
Pursing your lips, you looked up at him in confusion. “I don’t feel cold.”
“Because you’re too drunk to register it, probably.” With his warm hand on the small of your back, Iwaizumi ushered you inside and shut the door behind you. “Let’s go to my room so we don’t wake up my roommate, yeah?”
“‘Kay.”
Having visited his place so many times before, you knew it like it was your own apartment— Disregard the fact that your apartments had almost the same exact layout since you lived in the same complex. After sliding off your shoes at the entrance, you led the way to his room with Iwaizumi following closely behind you.
“Did you go to a party tonight?” he asked, eyes trailing down your body that was clad in an oversized t-shirt and fuzzy socks. Iwaizumi took a seat on his bed and patted the spot next to him for you to join.
Laughing at his puzzled expression, you nodded. “Yeah, but I went to my place to change and get ready for bed,” you explained. “Tried sleeping but I missed you too much and wanted to see your face.”
You climbed onto the mattress with him and wiggled around until you found a comfy spot. The comfy spot happened to be side-by-side with Iwazumi, your back against the wall and cold thigh pressed against his warm one. You rested your head on his shoulder and he lazily drew circles onto your knee with the pad of his thumb.
Intimacy like this wasn’t an uncommon occurrence for the two of you— That’s just how things were. He was warm and comfy and good at cuddling, and you liked that.
It could maybe be considered just normal friendship things you two did with everyone if it weren’t for the fact that Iwaizumi wasn’t typically comfortable with physical touch from anyone other than you. And maybe if you also ignored that you weren’t too keen on the thought of him one day being this close to anyone else. If truth be told, you didn’t like the thought of that at all.
With a small huff, you hooked your left arm with Iwaizumi’s right, hugging his bicep to you in an almost clingy manner.
“You good?” he asked, lightly chuckling as he looked down at you gripping onto his side. “Or something troubling you?”
You hummed unsure how to answer. There wasn’t enough alcohol in your system for you to completely spill your guts with know remorse, though being tipsy did greatly increase your likelihood of being loose-lipped. “I’m just thinking about someone else being with you like this.”
Iwaizumi stiffened, shoulders tensing ever so slightly before he quickly relaxed his muscles again. He prompted gruffly, throat so tight it came out as a murmur, “And?”
“I don’t like it.”
He let out a sharp chuckle. “I see.”
Out of the corner of your eye you saw a smile on his face and you continued on. “You’ve been studying a lot with Sasaki-san lately.”
“Hmm. Have I?”
You nodded. “You have your biomechanics class with her, right?”
“Yeah. I guess we studied for the exam together for a few nights.”
There was a funny feeling in your stomach at the thought of him spending his nights studying with someone that then spiraled to you picturing them being compatible and falling in love and spending the rest of their lives together. You winced, trying to shake it off. You were one of his best friends; it’s not like you had the right to feel that way.
“She’s really pretty,” you said, hoping it would prompt him to talk more about her. Even if you had no right, you still wanted to know
By now, the laughter Iwaizumi was struggling to hold in bubbled out of his mouth, cutting you off mid-thought. His shoulders bounced up and down and you reluctantly sat up from your position resting on top of him to give him a look of confusion.
“Why are you laughing at me?” you pouted. Your eyebrows were furrowed and the corners of your lips were quirked down, cheeks slightly puffed.
He nudged your side gently with his elbow. You nudged him back, but moved away before he could retaliate and start a nudge war. “Because you sound jealous and it’s funny.”
“I didn’t say I was jealous.”
“I didn’t say you said that.”
“I’m not jealous,” you corrected.
“Now that’s debatable.”
Your cheeks flooded with heat, grabbing a pillow off the head of Iwaizumi’s bed to hide the embarrassed look on your face, seconds away from throwing it at him if he started to laugh any louder. You huffed. You were not jealous. There was no way. You just didn’t like imagining one of your best friends with another person doing coupley things that you only wanted him to do with you. But that definitely wasn’t jealousy.
(Okay, fine. You were jealous. But you couldn’t admit that to Iwaizumi.)
“That’s just your lack of sleep talking,” you sulked, lying down on his bed with a pillow still over your face. “Go to sleep now.”
“I was asleep. Until someone showed up at my window unannounced and woke me up.”
“They sound annoying.”
He barked out a laughter and you felt the weight on the bed shift. The compressed springs near your feet where Iwaizumi sat released its tension before you felt a dip beside you. You held your breath, the warmth from Iwaizumi’s body radiating onto yours.
While sleeping in the same bed together wasn’t as common as just cuddling, it wasn’t something that was exactly rare. There were times when you came over to watch movies or a television series with him until you both passed out on his bed. And other times when he was feeling stressed or you were feeling sad and neither of you wanted to sleep alone. You knew if you called, he would invite you in. And it was the same if he came to you.
But that didn’t make your heart beat any less rapidly as you waited in anticipation for Iwaizumi to get under the sheets with you. No matter how many times you fell asleep together, that didn’t stop the rush of nerves and tense air of awkwardness from flooding the room. However, it took just one touch to break the ice and before you knew it, you were snuggling up next to him in complete contentment.
“They’re not annoying,” he said firmly, large hand resting on the curve of your hip. “Actually, I’m glad they showed up even though it was three in the morning and I was running on two hours of sleep from the previous day.” You winced at his words, the alcohol gone from your system by now and you realized the insensitivity of your actions. Still, your stomach fluttered when he said he was glad to see you. “Because I missed them too.”
You blinked slowly. “You’re talking about me right?”
Through the moonlight from the window, you saw him roll his eyes with a grin. “Is there anyone else you think I’d let into my bed at this hour?”
“Oikawa.”
He considered it. “Well, maybe. But it wouldn’t so much be me letting him than him weaseling his way in.”
You nodded solemnly, as if it made perfect sense. Because it did. “Fair enough. He’s the only other person I’d let into my bed like this too,” you admitted, earning a laugh out of the both of you. “Well, besides Oikawa then, there’s no one else you’d sleep with like this?”
“There hasn’t been since we started college. I doubt there would be anyone to change that. Nor would I want anyone to.”
For the second time tonight, you felt heat rise to your cheeks and had the sudden urge to turn the other way and stare at the wall instead of Iwaizumi. But he held you tight by the waist so you couldn’t wiggle your way out of his grasp— Which did not, at all, help with the flaming face situation.
He only wanted you? There was a euphoric feeling in your chest when you realized he felt that way, and you felt the same.
“Someone’s bold tonight,” you managed to choke out, softly pressing your shaky fingers to the center of Iwaizumi’s chest. You felt the outlines of his toned pectorals beneath your palm and you had to remind yourself to keep on breathing.
“It’s from the lack of sleep. Sorry.” He didn’t sound apologetic. In fact, he seemed the opposite of apologetic when he brought you almost imperceptibly closer to him. If you weren’t so aware of the spatial distance (or lack thereof) between the two of you, there was no way you would have noticed. But you did. And you didn’t mind it. “I don’t have my usual filter.”
“Maybe I like you like this,” you said without missing a beat. Your initial reaction was to be embarrassed about the words that just left your mouth, but when you saw his growing smile, you felt a rush of assurance coursing through you. “I always like you, I suppose.”
“Like me?” he prompted, almost teasingly. “In what way?”
You gulped. Was this Iwaizumi being flirty?
Sure, it wasn’t uncommon for him to compliment you and occasionally play around— But if you thought your heart would ever be ready for him to actually flirt, you certainly thought wrong. You weren’t ready at all.
“L-Lots of ways,” you stammered out. “But in particular, the ‘I think you’re cute and I maybe want to date you’ way.”
“Funny.” His voice was a low whisper that rasped in your ear. “I think I like you in that way too.”
“You think?”
“I know.”
“Huh. Well, if we both like each other in that way…maybe we should…” you trailed off, feelings of timidness suddenly overcoming you. “You know…”
“Date?” he supplied with a knowing grin. You nodded bashfully. “Tomorrow.” There was an air of promise and sincerity in his tone. “Let’s get some sleep and then when we wake up we can go on our first date.”
Tranquility spread through your veins as you let out a happy sigh, your muscles growing lax at your calmed state. Although your heart was beating out of your chest at the prospect of actually dating Iwaizumi, his comforting embrace was enough to lull you into sleep. Your senses were flooded with him—his touch, his smell, the quiet sound of his steady breathing—and you realized there was no other place you’d rather be.
“Are you sure you won’t be too tired from exams?” you said before sleep overtook the both of you. “And from me waking you up in the middle of the night? Which…sorry for that again, by the way.”
“Don’t apologize. It was worth it,” he mumbled, lips brushing against your forehead as your eyelids fluttered shut. “I’ll always be here when you need me. Even if it’s at three in the morning.”

Life of Death
You’re gonna need tissues for this one folks! A huge thank you to @addictedtodinosaurs for allowing me to write this wonderful headcannon! Hope you guys enjoy!
Warning: Angst. Whole lot of angst
It hasn’t even been a day since Alcina’s world collapsed. Ethan Winters managed to flee Castle Dimitrescu with his life and topple the hierarchy Mother Miranda worked so hard to achieve. Everyone is gone; Angie, Moreau's house, Mother Miranda, even her baby brother Karl. They never stood a chance after the fall of the great Mother Miranda. Without her protection, they were left helpless. Of course, Ethan only saw them all as monsters; filthy bloodthirsty creatures that needed to be slain. That’s all anyone ever saw them as. They’re different so that must mean they’re wrong. They’re abnormally different from anything I’d ever seen so that automatically means they’re evil.
But they’re still a family. Lucky for Alcina, she never let herself depend on anyone other than herself. Well, except for her daughters.
She was wandering around the ruins of the castle in search of them. They were nowhere to be found since Ethan escaped. It was a grueling task but obviously, one that needed to be done. They need their mother’s tender love and care to nurse them back to health.
Cassandra was the first to be found. Naturally, she was found within the comfort of her basement. Where else would that silly girl be hiding? Just like Daniela, her bleeding seemed to have majorly stopped on its own. So all that was left for Alcina to do was bathe her and bandage her wounds. Alcina carried her upstairs to her bedroom slowly and carefully to not make her feel any sicker to her stomach. From there she bathed her and wrapped whatever wounds she had in delicate cloth before putting her to rest in her bed. Alcina tousled her wet hair before leaving in search of the rest of her brood.
Daniela was the easiest to find. She was left lying face down in the parlor soaked in a pool of her own blood. Her body was riddled with bullet holes to the point where her abdomen resembled Swiss Cheese. Alcina was quick to scoop her up and bring her upstairs to tend to her wounds. Until she got Daniela in the bath she used the ends of her dress to put pressure on her abdomen. Just like Cassandra, her bleeding seemed to have majorly stopped on its own. So all that was left for Alcina to do was bathe her and bandage her wounds.
Picking each individual bullet out of her body was an uphill battle, but Alcina was the eventual victor. Even better, she managed to not disturb her youngest’s slumber as she patched her up. Daniela was now free to rest as much as she needed in the sanctuary of her mother’s bed.
“What a mess we’re left with, hm? Don’t you worry about a thing my little Tasmanian Devil, Mother’s here now. I’ll protect you.”
The girls remained motionless as Alcina tucked Daniela in next to her sister.
Alcina watched as her little bundles of joy rested comfortably under the warm blankets and plush pillows. They look so sweet and at peace. It was rare for the matriarch to see them like this, but it always brought a smile to her face.
“You just rest now, my lovelies. I’m going to go find your sister so she can rest easy as well.” Alcina bends down and kisses each daughter on the forehead. “I’ll be right back.”
It took a few hours of searching to find her eldest daughter. Doing countless laps around the castle finally brought Alcina to explore the labyrinth of hidden passageways. There were a few times when said passageways brought her right back up to her bedroom. She wasn’t complaining too much though. Every time it happened she simply checked on her girls and reminded them how much she loves them.
Bela was by far the hardest to find. The sounds of scurrying behind a row of bookcases alerted Alcina to her presence. Following a single passageway eventually led Alcina to find the blonde buried from the chest down in rubble. The tunnel had collapsed from then on.
Alcina made quick work of removing the rock and rubble from her daughter's body. Rats fled back into their holes as she did so. The eldest Dimitrescu never moved even an inch. It took a while, but Alcina did manage to get her out in one piece. She whispered promises of a warm bath and offered to deep clean the dirt and dust out of her hair.
Bela couldn’t respond but Alcina knew she heard her. She could still sense her. She could sense all of them. They’re just weak, that’s all. They need as much rest as they can get.
It’s late evening by the time all three girls are bathed and tucked into bed. They were dressed in clean clothes and had their bandages changed again before Alcina crawled carefully into bed with them. She made sure to be extra careful when nudging them out of the way so she was in the middle; Bela on one side and Cassandra and Daniela on the other. Her arms wrapped around them all snugly.
It reminds Alcina of all the times the girls would burst into her room when they were little during a thunderstorm. All four of them would cuddle up just like this under the covers and either sing to them or read them a story.
“Tomorrow is a new day, my loves. We will start anew and we’ll be stronger than ever. I hope you sleep peacefully.”
The next morning comes slowly for Alcina. It’s quiet for once as the girls aren’t awake to cause mischief. Aching in her back and arms keeps her from stretching out. She smiled when she feels the girls are still snuggled up close to her.
“Good morning my darlings,” she says with a yawn. “How are we feeling today?”
Alcina kisses each daughter on the cheek and chooses not to notice how much more pale they were this morning. And certainly doesn’t recognize how stiff they were. She simply chalks it up to sleeping uncomfortably. After all, even she woke up with an aching back. Her arms wrapped around them must have really bothered them.
“It’s alright, girls. Take all the time you need to recover. You’ve been through quite the ordeal and need as much rest as you can get. I understand that. Mommy will be waiting for you right here to wake up. I’ll be the first thing you see when you open your bleary little eyes.”
The family lounged for the better half of the morning. Alcina takes her time stroking the hair of each of her girls’ hair and whispers words of comfort to them. “You’re so brave, my loves. And so strong; stronger than Mommy could ever hope to be.”
She notices a rather putrid smell coming from Daniela. One not caused by uncleanliness or a rotten meal, but something else entirely. Her immediate response is to change her bandages again, but can’t help but notice how pale Daniela had become overnight. Her lips were turning a shade of blue and the rest of her skin looked sickly. So did Cassandra and Daniela. Perhaps this is worse than simply recovering from injuries? Maybe....maybe they really were-
Alcina shook her head. They’ll wake up. Of course, they’ll wake up! They just need to rest extra long before they can really start to recover. So what if they get worse before they get better? At the end of the day, all that matters is that they do wake up. Then it’s smooth sailing from there.
The silence is suffocating. She feels the chill in her blood, coldness bringing the synapses of her brain to a standstill. Part of it is a pain, but one Alcina can endure. One she has to endure; for the sake of her daughters.
While she waited, Alcina called for a maid, the only one left, to fetch some documents from her private study that needed her attention.
They didn’t actually need her attention, of course. With the demise of Mother Miranda, the document's importance was nullified. But Alcina Dimitrescu is not the type of person to just sit around and do nothing. Especially when there are so many important things to do.
As soon as the maid steps into the room she understands what’s happening. She went through something strikingly similar when she had her miscarriage some years ago. Reality is a cruel plane of existence. Especially when you lose someone you loved suffering it with. It’s plain to see that her mistress is grieving her losses and she doesn’t have the heart to break whatever fantasies Lady Dimitrescu has built-in her head.
Instead, she chooses to play along. Delusional or not this was still Lady Dimitrescu, the woman will kill her if she tells her anything other than what she wants to hear. She gives a kind smile and curtsy to her Mistress and simply dies as she’s asked.
“Shall I fetch you some wine, My Lady?”
Alcina thought about it for a moment. It has been over 24 hours since she last fed and she was certainly craving sustenance. But ultimately decides against it in favor of her daughters.
“No. Keep what we have left safe for when my daughters wake. They’ll need their strength more than I’ll need mine.”
The maid waits a minute before trying again. She looks over at the girls still laying in bed. It’s obvious they are no longer there. She could smell the evidence of that from across the room.
“Very well, Lady Dimitrescu. I could send up a platter of-“
“Enough,” Alcina shouts but quickly catches herself from continuing. The girls don’t need to be disturbed by such a trivial matter. “Go make yourself useful and clean my daughters’ rooms. They’ll want them spotless when they wake up.”
The maid simply bows her head. “Of course, my Lady. Please forgive me.”
The next two weeks went on like this before the maid had enough. She wanted to help her mistress, she truly did, but there was nothing left for her here anymore. The last scraps of human food were officially gone and there was no reason to trek down to the village and come all the way back when she could just as easily take up residence down there. It was a gut-wrenching decision but it had to be done. She tried her best for Lady Dimitrescu and that’s all that mattered.
She slipped away in the dead of night. Normally the Lady would have any escapees hunted down and dragged back up to the castle only to be thrown in the basement. But there was no one to do that anymore. Heisenberg and his pack of lycans had perished long ago, even before the Lady’s daughters, and the Lady was too drained of emotions to care. Too weak to chase after her.
Alcina’s daughters are her everything. Every day she lived for them. She lived because of them.
Alcina took great pride in her tall stature. She is the image of beauty and elegance. The only real flaw in her design is its role in hunting down prey. You’d have to be blind or stupid to not see her coming after you. Even with her much larger strides, she wouldn’t be able to keep up. And Alcina Dimitrescu does not run. Prey is not worth running for.
So she depends on her daughters to hunt for her. They’re much more suited for the job; so young, and clever, and agile. They are her cubs and her, their lioness, too old to keep up with the hunting party.
Alcina looks at her girls and sees them as they truly are; dead. Lifeless corpses. Their bodies are decaying and cold. She has been changing the bed sheets every morning to keep away the maggots but failed to stop all of them. The smell of death is noxious even with all the windows open because Bela said she wanted to feel the crisp winter breeze.
“My girls,” Alcina sobs. “What have I done to you?”
She collapses at their bedside and finally allows herself to break down.
But looking up at them she still feels them. She can still feel their arms wrap around her shoulders as she cries. The smell of paint is still on Cassandra’s cloak and Daniela was sitting on the floor right next to her. The short ends of red hair tickled Alcina’s cheek. If they were truly gone, how is it she can still feel Bela kiss the top of her head and wrap her arms around her neck in an embrace?
“I never should have done this. How can I be so selfish? I never should have turned you to suffer as I have.” A new wave of tears blurred her vision. “What kind of mother am I?”
She knows she doesn’t have long now. How can she bring herself to care? Everyone she ever cared about was already gone. What’s the point of trying to survive without her dearest family, especially when she’s so close to being reunited. Alcina wiggles her way back under the covers and pulls her daughters close once more. She’s crying in earnest now, happy that her pain is almost over. Even now she can see her daughters playing together, maybe even with Uncle Karl somewhere in the far off distance.
A smile spreads to Alcina’s lips as she closes her eyes and simply waits for her turn to join in on the fun.

How would yandere mercs react to us trying to escape late at night?
Well not well that's for sure!
Yan!Mercenaries (TF2) × Reader hcs/ imagines
// Yandere themes, violence, fear play, yandere shit
Defense
Demo
You got out of Demo's bed, you had given him more alcohol than usual to keep him asleep. You looked over the heavily snoring figure beside you. The scot had his mouth wide open and a bottle of beer cluched in his palm. You leaned in and blew on his eye to make sure he was asleep, and there was no physical response from him. You then quickly slipped on your clothes and pulled out the small bag you've been hiding behind the nightstand, it was filled with money and other essentials like pepper spray, sunglasses, and a cloak.
You walked out of the room, taking one last look at the scot before tiptoing out of the house, avoiding scattered empty alcohol containers on the ground.
Just as you were about to leave, you heard a voice from behind you
"y/n? What are ye doing?"
He was drunk of course, but when wasn't he? It was like he was sober in his own way. Sober enough to recognize that guilty look on your face. His expression twisted into an angry snarl and he grabbed you by the wrist, dragging you down the stairs into the basement
"you'll stay here till you know how to listen"
He said trying to conceal his anger, but failing to do so
He could also just have a breakdown depending on the type of night it was and guilt you into staying
He will be a lot more strict on you
Tumblr media
Heavy
You were looking to escape in the night but heavy lives in an eternal blizzard basically so... That's not a great idea
But lets say you've been preparing for awhile and got everything set up, a snow mobile, warm clothes, and a torch
But the moment you get to the shed, you find that your snow mobile is broken
Heavy then appears out of a corner of darkness with an upset expression
It's silent for a moment, until he speaks
"After all Heavy has done for you? Why?"
You felt guilt building up into your throat as you tried to search for an excuse. Unable to find one. He isn't a very restricting yandere, in fact, he's much tamer than most, he's given you basically all he has and to do this is like a slap in the face.
"Heavy will forgive you, if you just come back" he said while smiling
You were then gently pushed back out into the cold in the direction of his house, where you'd be staying once more
If he was in a bad mood, he'd be a little more rough
He also will place more restrictions on you but it's not like you'd notice considering it's not much
Engineer
You were about to leave in your car at night, when you tried turning it on, it wouldn't start. Engie then walks in front of your car and waves at you for you to come out, which after hesitating, you comply.
He walks over to you and hugs you, which confuses you. He tells you it's alright and that you don't have to go
"I'm sorry but, I want to leave" you stutter out
He panics internally and grips your shoulder, looking you in your eye
"do you know what could happen to you out there? Rapists! Murderers! The world ain't sugar n' honey, darlin"
"but-" you respond, suddenly cut off by him
"but you're safe here with me. I'll always protect you"
He hugs you once again, sucked into that warm embrace, you calm down and walk back with him
You were restricted from certain things from then on
Offense
Scout
You got into a fight with him earlier and in the middle of the night, you decided it was time to leave.
You packed a bag of clothes, some water, money, and other essentials
As you got your keys, you were met with a sleepy eyed scout who had bedhead
"Y/N....? The hell are ya doin?"
It takes a second for scout to process what's going on. You're grabbing your keys, you're fully dressed, and you had a suitcase with you
"Jeremy. I'm leaving*
You said sternly. You could see in his eyes that his heart shattered into a million pieces
"Wai- what no! No no no no! Please y/n you gotta stay please!"
He begged, grabbing onto your coat as you began to walk out. Tears formed on his face but you ignored it
"I can't put up with this anymore"
You said, voice cracking from the pain in your heart. Scout was sobbing now, he kneeled in front of you to stop you
"I'm so sorry I'm so sorry! I'll change I swear I'll become better! You want to go to eat out more? I got the money! I'll treat you nicely!"
You didn't believe a word he said, but with the way he was talking, it had to be true.
"Please I love you so much and it would kill me to lose you... Literally... You're my world to me, baby"
You bit your quivering lip as you looked down at him like he was a sad puppy. You sniffled and dropped your bags, huffing in defeat
".. I'm sorry. I'm just tired"
Scout was overjoyed to hear this. That night he clung to you
Scout didn't really become more strict, but he did become more loving to avoid that again.
Pyro
This one is scary, scarier than support classes even
You were almost out the door when they spotted you. They gave you an inquisitive look. You both shared a minute of uncomfortable silence before you bolted out the door. Pyro was unprepared for this, giving you some time to create distance between you two.
But Pyro was quick to get ready and they were out the door in no time with their flamethrower, ready to burn down acres of forests in order to catch you
You could hear pyro approaching, knowing that once you reach your car at the end of the base, you'll be safe and free.
While you were running, it seemed like their footsteps had been fading ever since they've gotten louder. Until you couldn't hear it anymore. You didn't pay any mind to this since your objective was just getting ti your car
When you arrived at the boarders of their territory when you stopped in your tracks
Pyro was leaning over their axe by the car, looking smug as ever. You looked towards your car and gasped.
Pyro had shredded the tires and broke open every window so you couldn't escape. You stood there as pyro approached you and swept you up in their arms, snuggling their mask into your neck the entire way home while you couldn't help but softly sob
Soldier
Soldier would lose his shit
He's already super strict, forces you to get up at 5 am every morning and run laps like you're in the military, makes you eat either MRE packets or home cooked food and you better hope it's an MRE pack because he cannot cook
So when he sees you at your car late at night, he screams at the top of his lungs enough to scare you into shock
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING, MAGGOT? GET BACK HERE THIS INSTANT!"
I could see this going one of two ways, either complying or he has to chase you down (which he will)
If he has to chase you down, he won't be happy about it, and become even more strict than before (which I don't think is possible but it's soldier)
Support
Sniper
You... What?
How did you even get the idea that you could escape?
You live in his fucking van, you won't have a car other than his van
But lets say you saw the chance for escape, and tried to take it. You either got shut down the moment you got out of bed or you were lucky enough to get far away from the van
"get your bloody ass back to bed" is something he'd say if he shut you down the moment you stood up
But this man is a sniper, he can scope you out easily, and he won't hesitate to use a tranq on you
After that, you're back in the chains
Spy
Scary
Did you really think you could?
He knew you were gonna escape before you even escaped
He'd make very subtle remarks about it and remind you of what he could do
"Do you remember about the undercover mission in Spain back when I was working for the government that I told you about? When I was able to find the traitor using three clues. Even after all his records were erased"
Subtle shit like that to remind you who's in control
But lets say you didn't take the hint, and you decided to try and escape anyways
He'd catch you in the living room trying to escape, and send you back to bed
Or, you'd get lucky and be able to run away, meaning he'd be on a job
Trust me, he will find you within 48 hours, 24 if you aren't moving that much
He's very manipulative so he'd try to make you feel bad about it.
Much more strict afterwards
Medic
I have a feeling he'd already knowz but not to the extent that spy does
He notices your behavior, and how you're starting to become a bit more.. energetic?
Anyways, like spy, he'll warn you subtly
"You seem to always find yourself injured in any way. And like they say, a medic can track an injured person like a gps system, ja?"
If you decide to escape, he'll have some fun with you definitely. He'll late you run far enough to think that you're finally free, before he catches you and brings you back. He's sadistic.
He'll laugh at your face and degrade and humiliate you, making you regret ever trying
After that, he's much more strict, and demanding from you
Bonus cause I wanted to: Pauling
Pauling like spy, can track people very easily
I wouldn't even be surprised if she convinced medic to help put a tracker in you
Well, she'd be at work checking your location every hour. And the moment she finds out that you're not in the house but at a motel, she's pissed.
She has to quickly finish up work before taking her time to go catch you, and trust me, if Pauling takes time off work for something it's important
Once she finds you, she tells you to come out, trying to keep it civil. When you don't, she ends up busting through the door and taking you herself.
On the way home, she complains about how you worried her and made her miss some work like a parent going to pick up their sick kid from school
She eventually cools off after she gets you home, but she is definitely more strict
Gify was acting up so I couldn't download any more gifs 😭
Anyways feel free to request again!

"I thought you left" "Nope, just making pancakes" - Convin
Okay, so, I love this prompt and I promised I'd try to write it so... I actually did this last week at like 2 am and have been too busy to edit it until now. But I'm kinda sick of trying to puzzle it out so just take it please, omg.
(Prompt from this post if anyone's curious.)
Stay
The sun was already high in the sky when Gavin finally blinked awake. He could tell because there was one fuckin sliver of window he could never manage to cover with the blackout curtains hanging up in his bedroom and the goddamn sun was shining right in his fuckin eyes, Jesus Christ! With a groan, he rolled over, squeezing his eyes shut in a futile attempt to go back to sleep. But even that small burst of cognizance had its consequences. Gavin could feel the awareness creeping in fast, God fuckin dammit. Was a little shut-eye too much to ask for? But there was something... Something niggling at the back of his mind. It itched at instincts well-honed by over a decade on the force and not even his most earnest desire to return to oblivion could keep it at bay. Restlessly, Gavin huffed out a disgruntled sigh as he kicked at the covers, frustrated despite himself at being roused after the night he’d had— Like a shock passing through his body, Gavin’s eyes snapped open, memories of the previous evening flashing through is mind. But just as readily, a heaviness settling deep in his heart as he took in the other side of the bed. The sheets were mussed and the pillow indented, a clear sign of its former occupant. Evidence as plain as day told Gavin that last night hadn’t been some delusion or dream. And yet… He reached out a hand, an involuntary, desperate motion, tracing the outline where his partner had lain. Where Connor had lain. But just as he’d feared, the sheets were cold. They matched the ice filling his heart. Slowly shuffling upright, Gavin leaned back against the headboard as memories of the previous day filled his waking mind. Flashes of the case he and Connor had worked together rushed by in a flurry. The tip-off for the perp they’d been tracking for weeks and the reckless chase that followed. The abandoned warehouse. The shootout. Vivid Thirium across dirty concrete. Connor had taken a bullet for him. Gavin remembered staring up into those brown eyes, watching as a splatter of blue burst from his chest. "I'm fine," Connor had said, "the bullet didn't nick anything important." And even though the android had gotten right back up and proceeded to almost single-handedly take down the rest of the hostiles attacking them, it was still a moment Gavin knew would haunt him for a long-ass time. Shit was enough to give him nightmares. It did give him nightmares, in fact. Which is how the two of them had ended up back here. In Gavin's apartment. Together. Because after that little fiasco, after the gang had been arrested and the hostages recovered and both he and Connor had been checked over by a medic and technician respectively, it still left the job far from complete. Needless to say, Gavin had eventually nodded off at his desk after a long night of interrogation and paperwork, the rushes of adrenaline and fear more than even his beloved coffee could contend with. He only meant to rest his eyes for a moment. Just a moment and then he'd finish up. But when he awoke some indeterminate time later, it was to his own voice screaming, Connor's name upon his lips, Connor's blue blood scattered across the darkest corners of his mind, Connor's hand upon his shoulder jostling him awake. The android’s LED was flashing a violent red as he stared Gavin down, his brown eyes wide with worry. Gavin couldn't help but cling to him, something twisting, clenching in his heart and demanding he hold on tightly. From there, things had passed in a blur, though he remembered Fowler's imposing figure ordering the both of them to take the next few days off. Too tired and distressed to argue, Gavin agreed immediately, only too glad to get the fuck out of there and go home. And Connor? Connor insisted he drive Gavin home. Connor insisted he make sure Gavin got to his door. Connor insisted that he get Gavin to his bed. And Gavin, still clinging to the android with every last bit of his flagging strength, let him. Over and over he let the android steer him along, trusting a partner fully for the first time in... For the first time
in far too long. And when Gavin had finally settled, comfortable yet shivering in his too-large bed, he took a moment to insist right back. "Stay," he'd said. One word. One plea. A lifetime of wanting to not be alone wrapped up in a single syllable. A few short weeks of shifting worldviews and growing affections cradled in four letters. A wealth of experience in loss stealthily couched within a breath. Gavin insisted. And Connor stayed. Or, at least Gavin thought he had. Because here and now, in the stupidly bright light of day, he was alone again. Like always. He didn't know why he'd expected otherwise. He really should've known better. After all, why would Connor want to hang around here? Especially after his fuckin embarrassing little act last night, fuck. He probably had loads of things to do. Important... android things... People to meet. Places to be. He wouldn't waste his entire day sitting around in Gavin's shitty apartment while he slept like a log. How fuckin stupid would that be? It didn't mean anything. Gavin told himself this over and over again as he shifted, swinging his legs out from under the covers and onto the floor. Just because they could be considered friends now didn't mean Connor had to drop everything for him. Just because he'd begging him to stay didn't mean Connor owed him anything. He'd probably felt uncomfortable as hell last night, what with Gavin whining and bitching at him like a fuckin child. Probably said what he could to mollify him before getting the hell out of Dodge. Gavin couldn't even blame him for that. Fuck, Connor'd just had emergency maintenance done! Because of Gavin! Like hell he'd want some handsy human all over him for ten straight hours, Jesus Christ. It didn't mean anything. Even if he wished it did. His stomach picked that moment to rumble, thankfully interrupting his little pity-party. Thank fuck. It was too early in the morning (or afternoon technically) to be crying over stupid shit. He was probably just hungry. Yeah, that's it. He's all fuckin emotional cause he hadn't eaten in almost 24 hours. It didn't matter that Connor fucked off ASAP, Gavin could get some waffles delivered. Waffles never fuckin betrayed him. He could trust waffles. With newfound resolve, Gavin stood, fumbling for his phone on the nightstand before scrolling through his food delivery aps to see if he could get waffles from anywhere at two in the fuckin afternoon. With heavy tread he stepped out into the hallway, mouth already watering at the prospect and stomach rumbling again in agreement. Fuck, he could almost smell them already. Wait. No, he can smell them? What the fuck?! Before Gavin could do anything more but stand there in his pajamas, wide-eyed and mystified, a figure stepped into view. Instinctively, Gavin's heart raced, adrenaline flooding his veins as the threat of a home invader cycled through his brain. In that fraction of a second, he was prepared to dive into an all-out brawl with the bastard. He was not in the mood for this shit! But then said bastard's lips quirked into a dazzling grin and a brown-eyed gaze sent Gavin reeling in disbelief. While his brain was preoccupied with keeping his suddenly-weak legs standing, his idiot mouth opened up on it's own: "I thought you left,” he said, choking on his disbelief. Connor (because of course it was Connor) only quirked his head to the side in that cute way he does, looking for all the world like the dogs he so adored. His LED flashed a single, swirling yellow before settling back to blue and he said, "No, I was just making pancakes. I thought perhaps you might be hungry." A strange hesitance entered his voice, some dour note falling across his features. "Did you want me to leave?" "No!" Gavin blurted out in a moronic, high-pitched squeak because again, he was nothing if not an idiot. (And one destined to embarrass himself at every possible moment at that.) Clearing his throat, he tried again. "I mean, you can do whatever you want. Doesn’t matter to me." (He's lying through his teeth. It obviously did matter to him. It
mattered a huge fuckin deal!) Connor blinked at him, the only sign of the awkward atmosphere between them the flashing colors at his temple. "Your words run contrary to both your body language and your involuntary actions," he said, "And they are a direct counterpoint to your request last night." Gavin fidgeted, knowing the damn android was right but never in a million years wanting to admit it. "Stop analyzing me, dipshit, it's too early for this." Finally, Connor's face relaxes a bit, a smile smile stealing across his lips. "It is two thirty-three in the afternoon, Gavin. Far from early." "Oh, can it, Poindexter! You know what I mean!" With a huff, Gavin moves forward, sidling past his annoying house guest. "What was that about pancakes?" Connor beams at him as the two of them enter the kitchen. "Ah yes. I determined that you would be hungry after going so long without food. I managed to make due with your atrocious grocery selection and have prioritized calories over nutrition for the time being. But just this once.” While Connor seemed dead set on critiquing the apparently-lackluster pantry he’d been forced to bravely overcome, Gavin only had eyes for the heaping pile of flapjacks sitting at his breakfast nook, fluffy and golden brown and still steaming. Fresh off the griddle, holy shit. How did he…? Despite his hunger, Gavin looked over at Connor questioningly. It was almost like the android could read his mind (which was a scary fucking thought) as he answered his unspoken query immediately: "I calculated your sleep cycle based off the Circadian rhythms I observed during your convalescence. I'm glad I timed it right. I wanted you to enjoy your breakfast." "It's past 2 pm," Gavin retorted with a smirk, "can't be breakfast now, hotshot." Connor's answering smile made Gavin want to melt into a puddle and he quickly turned away, staring at said breakfast with a helpless desperation. "Indeed," the android said, heedless of his partner's distress. "Regardless of the time of day, I wanted you to enjoy your meal, nonetheless." And something more vulnerable finally stole into his voice then, the merest shadow of his quiet pleas from the night before. "I thought, perhaps, you might consider them an offering." Gavin tore his gaze away from his not-breakfast then, looking up at his partner with enough confusion to drive out all other complicated emotions. "What offering? What the fuck are you talking about, tincan?" And now Connor was the one to look away. "It's just that..." He drew in a deep breath (though Gavin knew it was only him mimicking humans. Fucker didn't actually need to breathe) and continued, "yesterday... Yesterday frightened me. When I saw that gunman aiming at you, I—" He clenched his eyes shut, LED flashing a dangerous red. "In that moment, I preconstructed a multitude of outcomes, many of them where you did not survive. In which that bullet found its mark. And the thought of it, Gavin!" he wails. "I couldn't—! The thought was unbearable! And so I calculated the best result. And I determined my course of action. And you lived. You lived. And I thought that would be the end of it. But..." Finally, Connor looked up, his eyes meeting Gavin's head-on once more. "It was like a glitch. The preconstruction, it— It kept resurfacing again and again and again, every time you were out of my sight. And I... I disliked the feeling immensely. I think perhaps I hated it, even. And so I did my best to linger. I didn't want to leave you. Even though I knew you were safe, I still... It was so irrational but I still wanted to verify that you were okay. I still do." Before them the pancakes were growing cold, but neither paid them any mind. Connor looked away again, eyes shut. "I thought that, perhaps you had figured this much out last night. Which is why you asked me to stay. Because we are friends now and that's what friends do. But I worried that I may have... forced the issue... in my desperation. And I-I... I wanted to do something for you in return for your generosity." Looking down at the cooling
breakfast, Connor's face fell further. "I know it's not much but I thought at least—" Gavin had heard enough. "Okay, okay, okay, hold the fuck up, dumbass!" He stood, breakfast forgotten, and approached the shocked android with a fierce determination. Jabbing a finger directly into Connor's chest, he stated as sternly as he could, "You don't owe me a goddamn thing! For fuck's sake, Connor! You fuckin saved my goddamn life yesterday! You took a fuckin bullet for me! And even after that, you still fuckin stayed with me and made sure I got home safe!" A growl rumbled through his chest as Gavin poked Connor again. "I was having a fuckin nightmare about you dying! When you woke me up in the precinct! Did you know that?!" Connor shook his head but Gavin only poked him a third time, this time with much less force. He left his hand there, palm splayed across where his heart would be were he human. "That shit kept replaying for me, too. Over and over again. So I get it. I get wanting to 'verify.' I was doing the same thing. That's why I asked you to stay. Because I fuckin—! I wanted you here, okay?! Because the idea that you were hurt or injured or fuckin dead had me panicking!" He brought his other arm up now, slinging it around Connor's broad shoulders in a half-embrace, and leaned in, burying his face in the android's neck. "That shit's unbearable to me, too, tincan. Thinking of this fuckin trash heap of a world without you in it is—" He sucked in a breath. "Can't stand the thought." They stood there for what felt like an eternity (though it was probably only a few seconds) before slowly—tentatively—Connor brought his own arms up to squeeze around Gavin. He held him with a brittle tenderness, his touch light and careful as if he was afraid Gavin might break. And fuck, maybe he would. Maybe Connor could shatter him into a hundred-thousand little pieces. But shit, he'd take it. Because Gavin would never have been in this situation in the first place if Connor hadn't broken right through his walls first, scattering him and leaving him adrift in a strange, new world. And when he’d managed to build himself back up, it was into something—someone—stronger. Someone who could look at the world and see progress instead of oppression, opportunity instead of limitations, people instead of just machines. Connor had shattered his body once before down in the archives. He'd shattered his mind too over these last few months. It’d only make sense for him to shatter his heart as well. But he didn't. He wouldn't. And as Connor held him like a thing to be cherished, Gavin felt again that perhaps he'd been right last night. Perhaps this was a partner he could trust. A partner who could trust him, too. And perhaps he would— "Stay."
_____________
Bonus:
Connor: "Okay, but only if you eat your pancakes. I didn't download an entire cooking catalogue for you to let them go to waste, Gavin." Gavin: "Fuckin bite me, we're having a moment here." Connor: "Is your stomach rumbling part of that moment?" Gavin: "God fucking dammit, I fuckin hate you." Connor: ^_^ "False!" Gavin: "Fuck!"
And they lived happily ever after. ♥

🐮anon i am here with dadza! thank you for the patient waiting ;-;
i am referring to the samsung refrigerator as sam bc i have no clue what to address her as (゚ω゚;)
this also went off track but whatever lmao
cw: swearing
dadza:
phil did not expect this when he decided to have kids. in the beginning, he was only planning on the one. wilbur was the sweetest kid ever when he was born. never caused any trouble, was peaceful. hell, the kid seemed like he would rather play music 24/7 before yelling at a single person. then again, his wife was always too caring.
when he traveled to the nether with sam, taking his son with him for the first time, he didn’t expect to acquire another kid. they were walking along an old path that had been made year before, when suddenly wilbur started shouting, pointing at a small pink figure.
the baby piglin was surrounded by bigger, larger piglins. they were trying to take his gold as he fearfully warded them off. sam, with her large heart, urged phil to go save the child as she protected wilbur. through a long fight with grunts and yells, he had saved the kid.
“hello, young one. are you alright?” the piglin regarded him suspiciously, not knowing if he would hurt him. phil, from the corner of his eye, saw the kid eyeing the gold on the ground. “you want your shit back, mate?” phil turned around and quickly picked up the goods. “here you go, kid.” and from there, he had suddenly acquired another ward.
within the next few years, tensions rose. the young piglin, who phil had named technoblade, was slowly learning english. he wanted to learn how to fight, to protect himself and not end up in a situation like the one phil had saved him from. sam did not approved of this, ever the passive refrigerator. phil and sam argued nearly all the time. wilbur and techno began spending more time together, out of the house.
“techno, it's not your fault. you know that right?” wilbur was walking with techno, his guitar on his back. the house was no longer a good place to hangout, so they walked into town.
“well of course its not, wil. i know that, at the very least. i’m just trying to protect myself, the same as phil does. in the future i could even win competitions, make us some extra money.” the two boys were walking and talking, when suddenly they ran into a loud blonde kid who was with someone else they couldn’t really see.
“hey! watch where you’re going, kid!” wilbur yelled a the shorter blonde, who knocked him over.
“oh, fuck off, will you? i didn’t mean to, you don’t have to be a prick about it.” wilbur looked flabergasted at this, a kid much younger than him having this type of mouth?
“hey! do not fucking speak to me that way, do you understand?” wilbur pointed at the two kids, looking like a so-called ‘karen’ in the internet compilations.
“oh come on, dude, you just swore and you look only a few years older than me! don’t be a fucking hypocrite.” you looked sternly at the brown-haired male, watching his mouth open and close, like a fish.
“wilbur, you know we both swore at that age. give them a break, will ya?” techno was smirking at the two of you, knowing he was pissing wilbur off.
“ugh, whatever techno. fuck off, mate.”
the two boys continued walking into town, done with the conversation. but your blonde friend, apparently, may not have been. “c’mon! let’s follow them!”
“uhh, why tommy? it’ll bring us nothing but trouble.” you were confused at what tommy was getting at, but you knew it was nothing good.
“and? trouble is my middle name, obviously.” he grabbed you hand and began dragging you in the direction the boys went.
when you arrived in town center, wilbur was seen talking to a shorter girl, while the piglin was arguing with a figure wearing green. tommy turned to you, “i’ll go talk to the cool one, you can go talk to the cunt who berated us for swearing.” knowing that once tommy made a decision he wouldn’t change his mind, you gave in.
walking over slowly, you noticed when you caught the boy’s attention. he looked over to you and his face darkened. “not you again… what do you want?”
“who’s this?” the girl he was talking to you looked over to you. you smiled at her and told her your name. “that’s a nice name. i’m niki.”
the two of you shook hands and she moved over for you to sit down. wilbur, begrudgingly, allowed you to sit and chat with them. for about three hours, you all sat talking. after a bit of pleading, wilbur had pulled out his guitar and was playing you a song.  that was, until tommy ran over with techno as they were being chased a boy with a smiling mask, a boy with a white headband, and one with strange glasses.
“techno! what the fuck did you do now!?” wilbur stood up and began yelling at the piglin.
instead of a response, he was met with tommy screaming, “STOP CHASING ME, YOU FUCKIN’ BITCH! THIS IS CHILD ABUSE, I AM A MINOR!!! A MINOR!!”
“god fucking damnit, tech!” wilbur jumped up and dragged you with him. now all three of you were running from the boys.
once you had arrived in the forest clearing, wilbur was immediately on technoblade and tommy’s asses about what had happened.
“what. did. you. do.” wilbur was staring at them, his hands on his hips.
techno tried to explain, before tommy cut in “wilbur, i have done nothing. i was simply being a respectful citizen-”
“those terrible cunts were being terrible bitches to us, wilbur! they were threatening the blade here, saying we couldn't fight. but i showed them!” tommy seemed incredibly proud of himself.
“techno, what did this demon child do?” wilbur was staring at nothing, looking dead inside.
“i am now participating in a duel with dream tomorrow, at 4:20 P.M.” wilbur looked extremely pale at this, like he was begging god for mercy.
the four of you walked back to phil’s house. wilbur felt too guilty to leave you guys in  town, especially when tommy had gotten into a fight with dream.
when you arrived at the house, phil immediately pulled you in, seeing that you guys were covered in cuts and bruises. when you went in, sam was nowhere to be seen.
“what the hell happened? why are there two very dirty children with you and why is techno smirking like that?”
after an explanation from the two of, phil began tending to your wounds. “wilbur, techno, go clear out the guest room for these two. we’ll talk more tonight. once you and tommy were nicely bandaged and clean, you were sent to the guest bedroom.
“you think we’ll be safe here, tommy?” you turned over to look at your friend who was in the bed across from yours. for years, you had been living on the streets, surviving off the bread the nice lady would provide you with.
“of course we will. we’re big men, you know that. besides, did you see techno over there? we’ll be just fine.”
“thanks tommy. love you, mate.” you smiled at tommy.
“night. love you too, big man."
in the morning, at the duel between technoblade and dream, it was suspenseful. even when you felt like he would lose hope, techno pulled through. even if sam had left and and was now in the dump, phil knew it would be okay. he acquired to new kids and would make sure they had a better life than the one they had before.
i hope you liked this one 🐮 anon! <3

The Thought Of Losing You
Word Count: 2,507
Status: Not Requested!
Fandom: Lethal Weapon 1987 {1}
A/N: This follows sort of around the ending of the first Lethal Weapon film where both Riggs, Murtaugh, and Rianne were being tortured in separate ways. I know it sounds brutal, but trust me, it isn't that bad. AND! Happy ending! (Spent all night on this!)
Relationship: Martin Riggs x Reader
Summary: When a team is formed, Roger Murtaugh and Martin Riggs are solidified together once Y/N is added to the mix, squeezing in perfectly. Although very fiery and stubborn at heart, childish games and teasing became common place for sergeant Y/N and Martin, unable to let the other out-trash their own trash talk. But, when there is a complication during the final breakthrough of the whereabouts of the heroin-trafficking cartel, Y/N is separated from the duo. Only coming together when a kidnapping sends her in a desperate spiral trying to save the people she loves, especially Riggs.
Warnings: violent themes, kidnap, manipulation, torture, violence, language, attempted!self-surrender/suicide, 18+ audience suggested, read at own risk

Tumblr media
Strolling around to the back of the supposed drug dealer's extravagant condo, Murtaugh, Riggs, and I engage in light conversation, silently noting and observing our surroundings. Stopping just near the edge of the rather expensive-looking below ground pool, Murtaugh and Riggs catch sight of two brunette women inside. Rolling my eyes, I expect Riggs to do something flirtatious, a painstakingly common reaction to almost every woman he lays eyes on. Every woman... except me. Yet, I pay no mind, Riggs' crazy nature probably too much for me to handle anyway.
Murtaugh flashes his gun, indicating to the women that he is armed. In a flash of a second, just merely after he had shown his weapon, the women duck and run from within the glass-paned wall, just in time for a man to blast a shot from behind. More specifically, the source being a shed occupying the space on the opposite side of the pool we resided on, destroying bits of its siding from the sheer distance and voracity of his attempt of subduing at least one of us.
But, we came prepared, although we were slightly taken aback, Murtaugh's swift abilities with a gun coming in handy as he lands on the drug dealer's right knee, lower thigh area. Splitting off, Murtaugh and I take either end of the pool's side, desperately trying to corral the person of interest. All the while as Riggs takes the women from in the house outside and to the nearest tree, in case of them being suspects as well, handcuffing their wrists together around the tree.
Once the task is done, Riggs hurries over to our aid, following our one, sole purpose: keeping the suspect alive for questioning.
Coming around the perimeter of the pool, Murtaugh reminds Riggs of this rule, replaying it to refresh his sometimes questionable mind. This, however, does not work in our favor as the man pulls yet another gun, this time a pistol, as Riggs had went to pull the man up.
"He's got a gun!" I scream, yet it's all in vain, as Riggs tries to act just as fast as his reflexes would've allowed, lifting the man's aimed arm as the trigger was pulled.
Yelping in surprise, I clench my teeth as the copper red liquid instantly encompasses the injured area, jerking as far away from the incident as possible.
"Y/N!" Murtaugh yells, instantly coming to my side as I go crashing to the concrete floor, catching my head and my left side as I now slowly lean into the ground below me, clutching the stinging injury to the right of my abdomen.
As Murtaugh had come to my side, Riggs took care of the suspect, unfortunately not being able to accomplish our sole purpose of being here, but overall getting rid of the threat.
"Cocksucker," he all but grunts, as he makes sure to shoot the man once more, pissed at the fact that I had gotten shot, although that fact being unbeknownst to me. "I'll call the ambulance," he all put spits out some time later, not making any attempt to check on my well being nor even making eye contact, stalking back through the side gate we had entered through.
//Some time later//
Now nestled safely and securely, I lay within the gloomy walls of the hospital, hooked up with some anesthetics and monitors, all for separate purposes. The stitches surely going to leave an awesome scar, only adding to my aggravation and exhaustion as the day finally settles and the slightest of movements constantly sending sharp pains within my whole body.
The doctors, coming in every so often, had reassured me of a discharge after the course of at least 2-4 days, only needing to ensure the proper sanitary measures are used and stitches being durable and strong without issues or tears.
Staring off at one of the four blank and colorless walls, in a daze, my ears perk up at the sound of a knock on my door, followed by Roger and Martin entering the room.
Handing me a bouquet of flowers and a box of chocolates, I smile at Roger as he pulls a chair beside my bed, asking, "How ya' feeling, Shortie? How're they treatin' ya' here?"
Giggling at the nickname, I respond with an, "I'm doing just as good as I can I guess. It's not so bad here either. The nurses are nice, although they're all pitiful glances and meek gestures, coming in and out as quickly as possible. I guess bullet wounds aren't their preferred cases?" I joke lightly, trying to lighten the tension in the room.
Roger catches on instantly, having caught wind on Martin's rather uncharacteristically quiet sulking in the far corner of the room. Turning to look at him briefly, he all but shrugs at me as he comes up with no response or solution to his partner's unknown issue.
Checking the time, I make up an excuse, assuming Riggs just didn't want to be here maybe? "Damn, look at the time...It's almost 9 pm guys, don't wanna be late for Trish's cooking do ya'?"
"Shit, really? Come on Riggs, you know the ass whoopin' I'm gonna get? Let's go, minus well feed you too, huh?" Murtaugh says, getting his coat and squeezing my shoulder, giving me a sympathetic look that I swipe away quickly. Riggs just gets up, side-eyeing me once quickly, but above all, ignores my presence and leaves the room. With one final look from Rog, he shuts the door, leaving me to my boredom for the remainder of my stay.
//Some time later//
Having been discharged, Roger had caught me up on the recent news, and how they had left to finish the job a day before I had gotten out of the hospital, that being yesterday evening, and it now being a full 24 hours of no communication from them.
This had struck me as odd, given that they were very advanced in their fields. Finding the whereabouts was the last big hump of every mission, the rest supposedly coming easy. This had all changed as soon as I had stepped foot onto my front porch, a not left hanging slightly within the pocket of my mailbox.
The words shocking me to the core;
"Come to xxxxxxxxxx if you want to save your partners. 8 o'clock. Sharp."
Rushing to my car, I waste no time, pulling out of the driveway and to the given destination, the time being almost too close to the deadline as I preferred it to be.
Once outside of the destination, an old, run-down warehouse stands gloomily in front of me as I slip my gun into the waistband of my jeans. Another, tucked against my ankle within my boots.
I move quietly, staying alert as I enter the warehouse quietly, instantly hit with the cries of what could only belong to Riggs, my heart wrenching. A new feeling that I instantly push aside. Following the pained screams, inching closer to the source, I catch wind of yet another's set of booming cries as well, recognizing it as Murtaugh.
With this new set of knowledge, my heart does another painful flip, as the sheer terror now courses through my veins as if it was my blood. They were the toughest men I had ever known. At least that is how I had always felt, how I feel right now, but with their pained screams, it makes me feel utterly hopeless.
Drawing my gun, I aim it before me, right beside the wall I hide on, lining it up around the corner, my full intention at being able to at least shoot down one of the three men guarding one of my teammates; their identity unknown to me at the moment with the unfortunate dimness.
Taking the shot, I hit one man, the two now swinging to guard the area, looking my direction. The man held captured, Riggs, tied to the ceiling, consistently doused in water, making the homemade shock therapy increasingly unbearable with multiple relentless blows.
"Come out now, Little Rabbit, or I pull the trigger," a booming voice commands, me now peeking out from the corner to see none other than Mr. Joshua, the man we've been after, pressing a firm gun to Riggs' limp form.
Coming out from my hiding space, Joshua motions for his goons to grab me, now taking Riggs off the hook, and into another room. The room we are led to happens to be the room Murtaugh is in, his daughter beside him, both incarcerated and handcuffed. Moving Riggs to the chair beside the pair, he is tied down just as I am, the four of us now completely helpless.
Mr. Joshua, confident and prideful of his work, moves Riggs to the center of the room, starting his interrogation, answering with beatings and threats here and there. The cause: the information given by Hunsaker on his heroin-trafficking cartel.
Just as Joshua leaves yet another powerful blow, Riggs' strength starts to run low, just watching him making me squirm in my chair, wanting nothing but to take him in my arms and drag him as far away from here as possible.
"If you have to kill one of us, kill me. Take me instead, please? Just stop! Stop all of this now," I say breathlessly, doing anything in my will to get their hands off of Riggs.
"What would I want with someone as pathetic as you?" Mr. Joshua answers bitterly.
"Information. That's all you want right? You just want details about the business, you went through all this trouble, and for what? Just to kill us in the end? I know your type. You can't get off without getting what you want, and this would've all gone to waste without it," I respond, determined now.
"So, what do you want? To strike a deal?" I nod. "So, if I let them go, you'll give me what I want?" I nod again.
"Y/N no," Riggs says, now worried about what you're going up against.
"Shut it," Joshua states strictly.
"Y/N, listen to Riggs! You can't do this!" Murtaugh adds, now borderline terrified as everyone in this room is filled with the most important people in his life, all threatened with the only thing that could take them all away: death.
"SHUT IT!" Joshua all but screams now. "Fine. I'll take you up on your little deal. However, you fuck with me, I'm killing them."
"I don't agree with you unless you cut them loose right now, and I am assured that they are out of this building," I say confidently, yet shaking with fear.
He nods his agreement, showing a security camera view from one of his computers, watching as Rianne, Roger, and Martin are all led back outside, handcuffs removed, and all moved into my car, them pulling away from the warehouse.
Pulling the computer's view away from me now, he turns to me sharply, my gaze turning upward as my arms are still strapped behind my back, behind the chair. "Now," he starts, the voice strict like a parent beginning to question a toddler, "The information. What did Hunsaker tell you?"
Taking a breath in through my nose, I exhale through my mouth as I ponder my response, "Just as much as he's told you."
With this, Mr. Joshua lets out a scream, landing a punch to the jaw, my body leaning in on the stitches. Taking notice to my sharp intake of breath from the movement, Joshua uses that to his advantage, grabbing a knife, lifting my shirt, and pressing the cool metal along the line of handiwork. The only thing keeping my skin together at the moment.
"Let's try this again, what information did you receive from Hunsaker?"
"I told you. I. Don't. Know."
"Bullshit!" He digs into the skin, smirking at the cry of agony and shaking engulf my body.
"I-I don't know anymore than you do! Please! He was killed before we got anything from him!"
"Bullshit," he answers playfully now, dragging the blade of the knife wherever he pleases now, enjoying my pleads.
As he opens up my stitched bullet wound, he goes to start at another spot, the attempt being short-lived as a bullet wound of his own goes through his skull, the source standing in the doorway alongside Murtaugh with Rianne tucked under her father's arm.
Crying now, I sigh in relief as Riggs rushes to me, cutting me loose and lifting my limp body. Carrying me to the car, we make our way to the hospital once more.
During the wait and multiple switching of rooms, Riggs stays, waiting for me, only getting up once I emerge from the exit, patched up and clean. He smirks at me, wrapping his arm around my shoulders, leading me to Rog's car, taking us to the only place we find comfort; his house.
//Some time later//
Getting settled in at the Murtaugh residence, Riggs and I share Rianne's room, which was so generously offered as one of the youngest decide to have a sleepover with her.
Looking over at Riggs, he looks at me, covered in open cuts and bruises, dirt and grime, and, taking a first aid kit from Rianne's desk, I make it my priority to get them fixed up.
"What are you doing?" Riggs asks, tiredly amused.
"Taking care of you, it's the least I can do," I reply determined once again.
"Awww! Someone's got a little crush on me huh?"
"Hey! When I finish patching you up, I swear to God I'm gonna kick your ass for making me worry about you," I say jokingly. Riggs replying by grabbing me by the waist and pulling me closer.
Locking eyes on one another now, I couldn't help but joke once more, adding a sly, "Is this the moment that we kiss?"
Giggling, he looks down, placing his head on my chest, murmuring, "I think I'm in love with you and I don't know what to do. I mean, I've been married before, and I- I lost her and I don't wanna lose you too- I couldn't live if you go too, I-"
Grabbing his chin, I tilt his head upwards to meet my gaze, "Look at me, Riggs. Look at me. I love you."
Eyes watering, he leans in for a kiss, my hands finding way to his hair, while his pull my hips into his lap, wrapping lightly around them. After leaning back for air, we giggle once more, leaning our foreheads against one another.
"I never want to ever feel the fear of the thought of losing you again, okay? So don't be a dumbass, Dumbass."
"Yeah, yeah," Riggs answers once more, leaning in for another kiss.

figure it out.
Aaron Hotchner x Gender Neutral Reader a joyful future fic
a/n: this has been in my wips for literal months as i’ve done my best to get it just right for yall. i hope you enjoy it, and tell me what you think! There’s an addendum to this one, and i’m already working on it, but we’ll see a few more things before that’s ready :)
words: 3.5k warnings: sex mention, sex implication, language
summary: “love is like a backache. it doesn’t show up on an x-ray, but you know it’s there.” - george burns. au!january 2012.
masterlist | a joyful future masterlist | ajf faq | requests closed!
You roll over in bed when your alarm goes off, but you don’t get very far. Aaron throws an arm over you and pulls you back to him with a grumble.
You huff a laugh and wiggle up against him. It’s all a tease and you both know it - there isn’t any time to get up to anything fun before work, but it’s far too entertaining to rile him up.
“Don’t start something you can’t finish.” His voice escapes his lips between your shoulder blades and you can feel his smile.
“Oh, trust me, babe. I can finish.”
He hums, his smile breaking out into something real. “I noticed.”
+++
When the two of you finally make it out of bed (surprisingly still on time), you grab one of Aaron’s scarves and a hat on your way out. It’s your turn to drop Jack at school today on your way into the office, and the task serves two purposes.
The first? It’s nice to spend time with Jack, just the two of you, when it’s your turn and you’re not on a case. It’s the same for Aaron, who always leaves a little earlier so he and Jack can sit down somewhere and have breakfast together.
The second is pure logistics. You two can’t show up to work in the same car at the same time, so a convenient excuse to separate and stagger your arrivals is welcome.
“Really?”
Aaron’s question stops you at the threshold and you look over your shoulder “What?”
“My hat? My scarf?”
It’s almost too tempting to cave when he’s looking at you like that - his tie hanging around his neck, shirt untucked, arms crossed, and playful frown hiding a smile.
“Yeah. It’s warm and it’s here and we’re late.”
Jack squints up at you and says, “We’re not late.”
“You’re not late.”
The observations come within split seconds of each other and you laugh.
“Fine. Not late, but warm. And you have more hats.” You scamper back into the house to plant a kiss on his lips, smoothing the hair at his temples.
Jack’s laughter is the underscore to your next quip. “You’re very handsome and I’m sure you’re very smart so you can figure it out.”
“Yeah, Dad,” Jack chirps. “Figure it out.”
He has nothing to say to your retreating forms as he catches a glimpse of your smile through the crack in the closing door.
+++
Emily and Spencer are away at a conference-book-signing thing, so it’s just the five of you and Penelope this morning. You’d normally figure that would be Rossi’s purview, but apparently -
“My book-signing days have been put on hold indefinitely in favor of -”
“ - He’s back.” Garcia interrupts, tossing case files at all of you. The conversation is cut short and you suppress a smile. “The Marin headlands last night.”
You can see Aaron’s lips pull as well.
It’s the little things.
Penelope gestures with the notes and crime scene photos appear on the screen. “David Atley and Nicole Puli, both 24, both grad students at Berkeley, shot multiple times in their vehicle-- wait for it--” She clicks again and a familiar sigil appears.
“The Zodiac?” Morgan’s shock is almost sardonic in its delivery.
Rossi snorts. “No way.”
“Come on,” Derek says, amused, while JJ chimes in as well.
 “It's gotta be the 2.0 version.”
While neither of you speak, you share a glance with Aaron. You’re kidding.
He only raises his eyebrows for a split second and shrugs.
There’s some part of you a little paranoid that you’re the most obvious couple to exist in the history of the universe. Sure, the team has been teasing you about your friendship for years, the will-the-won’t-they of it all, but now that it’s real you’re almost terrified that they know everything.
Thus, the overcompensation has been wretched. You and Aaron barely look at each other in the field if you can help it (which you usually can’t) and he tends to put you with Derek more often than not.
In truth, the others have noticed, but are far too interested in the spectacle to say anything. Emily’s almost certain the two of you have slept together, and Dave may or may not have suggested the possibility of a secret marriage during your period of suspension.
However far-fetched and ridiculous their theories, they know you two well enough to know that something happened. The tension is gone.
Derek almost finds himself missing the tension. There hasn’t been much to tease you about lately in its absence.
“Yeah, you would think so, except for the crazy similarities in the MO.” Penelope clicks through the photos as she talks.
“I'm talking same victimology, same geography. And,” she adds. “Two souvenirs were left at the crime scene.” She clicks once more and stands back for the full effect.
“He left a photo?” Rossi asks.
She hums in the affirmative. “Local police say that is Marcia Miller. She was found near Napa in 1971. Strongly suspected that she was a victim of the Zodiac, but police never confirmed it and they didn't publicize the case.”
Morgan’s still squinting at the screen. “So the Zodiac took this photo at the killing and then saved it all these years?”
“The Zodiac's last confirmed victim was the cabdriver Paul Stine,” Dave notes devolving into a conversation about The Zodiac, his timeline, his signature.
It’s nothing new - The Zodiac Killer’s case details are common knowledge in your line of work, nevermind the sheer number of copycats that try their hand at the highly-ritualistic murders before inevitably getting arrested.
There’s a reason this guy hasn’t been caught in forty years.
After a few minutes of bouncing between you all, Hotch pushes back from the table and stands. “Have Reid and Prentiss meet us in San Francisco. Wheels up in 30.”
He heads straight to his office to collect his things and you swing in by the tips of your fingers for just a second. “You wanna call Jess or do you want me to?”
In the middle of throwing files in his briefcase, he doesn’t look up when he answers. “Can you, please? I was supposed to meet with Strauss this afternoon and need to stop by her office before wheels up.”
You smile at him, tapping the door frame twice. “You got it.”
+++
It’s boots on the ground right away when you land in San Francisco. You drive to the crime scene with Aaron in the passenger seat beside you and JJ in the back. The radio’s on, and you sing under your breath, tapping your fingers on the steering wheel as you make your way up to the crime scene.
Before you get to the local FBI agents, JJ catches you by the sleeve. “It’s nice to have music in the car again.”
You just smile at her. Aaron looks a little puzzled.
The three of you wipe the looks off your faces by the time you get to Agent Lynn.
+++
“What did JJ mean?” Aaron asks you.
The two of you are alone for the time being, posted up in the conference room with the old Zodiac case files. You look up. “Hmm?”
“What did she mean when she mentioned the music earlier?”
“Oh.” A little flush of embarrassment shoots down your gut. “Derek pointed out to me last summer that I didn’t play any music in the car.”
...while you were gone is the thing you don’t say, but he knows that’s what you mean.
“I didn’t really notice.” You shrug to cover your fib. “I guess I’ve reacquainted myself with the radio in the last couple of weeks.”
Aaron hums, returning to his work. Something’s off, but you’re sure it’ll come up later.
+++
“You don’t think it’s really him, do you?” You ask, unbuttoning your shirt and throwing your pajamas on.
Surprisingly, this case seems to be one of those that allows for sleep at regular hours. For that, you’re grateful. It’s much harder to find time to wind down with Aaron at the end of the day when you’re all forced to sleep in shifts.
Aaron shakes his head, “No, I think Reid’s right. We’re looking at a particularly sophisticated copycat.”
“Isn’t that kind of worse?” Hopping up on your bed, you curl up and look at him over your nose - a clear invitation to join you.
With a huff down his nose and a little smile, he flops down beside you and props his chin on his arms over your belly. “Could be. Luckily, we have Reid.”
You almost think he’s going to say something else, but he gets that pensive look on his face again.
“What?”
With a sigh, he says, “I’m just thinking about what JJ said.”
“Oh, Aaron -”
He doesn’t let you finish. It’s probably a good thing. You didn’t know what you wanted to say anyway.
“I knew how hard it was on me, but I’m realizing more and more how hard it was on you, too.” He shakes his head. “I feel ...I don’t know. I feel like I should have known better… or something.”
Winding your fingers in his hair, you sit in silence for a moment. He doesn’t have anything more to say and eventually he crawls up your body and settles in under your arm, his head on your chest and legs wound between yours.
Sometimes, you’ve found, he likes to feel small.
“You’re safe and you’re home. That’s what matters.” You kiss the top of his head. “And I love you.”
He hums, arcing into your touch and wrapping an arm around your waist. “I love you.”
+++
You spend much of the next day chasing Spencer around the city, keeping notes handy (for yourself, not for him - he doesn't need them) and reporting back on his discoveries to the team like some kind of overwrought and hyper-trained secretary.
Stepping off to the side, you answer a call from Aaron.
“Hit your limit yet?”
You look over at Spencer, who’s flipping through a newspaper like a man on a mission. “It’s actually kind of entertaining.”
And that’s actually true. Watching Spencer push the limits of his intelligence is always a treat - it happens so rarely you almost forget how much you enjoy it every time.
He huffs into the phone. “Hang in there. We’ll all meet back at the precinct once Reid’s done -”
“Doing magic?”
“Exactly. Keep me posted.” There’s a pause. It’s an odd little habit you two developed in the field to leave space for the words you can’t say in front of the others.
I love you.
“Me too.”
+++
You’re almost asleep when a sliver of yellow light shoots across your room, promptly disappearing as the door to the hallway closes.
He pads across the room and slips under the covers. “Hi.”
A little smile crosses your face as you roll over to face him. “Hi.”
Before you can say anything else, his hands are on you and he’s half on top of you as he captures your lips.
Needless to say, the lack of sleep is worth it.
+++
Emily, long after she and Aaron are the only ones left in the precinct conference room, squints as she notices something right under his collar.
He’s already loosened his tie and unbuttoned the top button of his dress shirt, no longer standing on ceremony now that all the local police have retired and the rest of the team gone up to their hotel rooms. There’s not much to do, but the compulsion to get ahead for tomorrow is one neither one of them can shake.
What Aaron failed to remember when executing his wardrobe adjustment was the rather...spirited romp in your room the night prior. The little purple swatches painted on his skin just under the line of his collar stood out stark against the crisp lines of his dress shirt.
Fortunately for you, there was no way in hell the rest of the team would find anything he left on you last night.
Emily reaches into her purse and pulls out a tube of concealer and a powder compact. Though he’s more olive-toned than she is, it’ll be good enough in a pinch. “Hey, Hotch.”
He looks at her over his nose, his eyes tired.
“You might want this for tomorrow morning.” She pushes the crisis control kit across the table to him, but he only frowns and deepens his squint.
By way of explanation, she reaches across the table and presses the tip of her finger into one of the visible bruises in the hollow of his throat. He flinches, freezes, and then immediately drops his head into his hands.
It’s easy to say Emily is amused in the extreme. “Those look...really fresh.”
He shakes his head, insisting as he picks up a file at random, “They’re from before we left.”
It’s only because it’s Emily that he’s even humoring this conversation.
“No they’re not.” She sticks her tongue firmly in her cheek. “These ones are though.” She points at yellowing marks on his collarbone and he smacks her hands away.
“And I know what fresh hickies look like, Hotch. Those are fresh fresh. Like, last night fresh. And we’ve been here for four days.” She frowns, tracking back through the day. “When on earth would you have time to -”
A series of images flash through her head, random wayward connections flashing together in an alarmingly clear picture.
You, avoiding her at the office back in September with quickly-covered marks painted across your neck.
You, flirting with Sean and having way too much fun doing it, looking over his shoulder at ...someone else.
Hotch, in a perpetually good mood (for him, anyway, and despite looking ill-slept) for the last five months.
The way the mistletoe kiss at Dave’s Christmas party looked way too easy, too familiar.
And now, the obvious indicators that Hotch is not only getting it, he’s getting it good.
If he got those last night…
Wait.
Their hotel rooms are right next to …
Oh my God.
Hotch watches the realization flash across Emily’s face, and he knows you’re both busted. Instead of losing her shit like he expected, Emily just leans back in her chair - smug.
“So. Are you still Not the Boyfriend, or has there been an update?”
He sighs.
The corner of her mouth tips up. “How long?”
“For which part? The not-boyfriend part, the boyfriend part, or this part?” He gestures vaguely to the space behind his tie, and Emily snorts.
“Just spill it.”
Holding up a finger, he pulls his phone out of his pocket, dialing the first number on his speed dial.
You’re hardly asleep, sitting up in bed waiting for him with a case file in your lap, when you get the call. You’re not sure who’s listening, so a “Hey, Hotch. What’s up?” will have to do.
“Emily knows.”
You straighten. “How?”
“Doesn’t matter. She knows.”
There’s a scramble, and suddenly Emily’s on the other end of the phone. “He’s got very questionable and very fresh bruises just under his collar. Care to explain?”
There’s another shuffle.
“Ignore her,” Aaron says. With a hand pressed to your forehead, you understand the question implicit in his phone call.
“Just tell her. It’s basically her fault, anyways. If she hadn’t ditched it then we’d have our heads up our asses for another five years.”
“Alright,” then, after a second of realizing you don’t sound sleepy at all, “Go to bed.”
“I’m in bed.”
He rolls his eyes. Emily can only look on with amusement, gleeful in the extreme. “You know that’s not what I mean. Go to sleep.”
“Alright, alright. Fine.” You reluctantly close the casefile and put him on speaker so he can hear the light click off. “I’m going to sleep.” Then, “I love you. Come up soon.”
“Okay.” He shoots a glance at Emily. Because he’ll never hear the end of it anyway, more ammo won’t hurt at this point. “I love you too. Now, really. Go to slee -”
You hang up on him. He double-takes at his phone for a moment before shoving it back in his pocket.
He’s met with Emily’s surprisingly moved eyes. “You’re...okay.”
What she means is, You’re happy.
He knows.
He nods. “I’m okay.”
She puts her files down and leans forward, resting her elbows on the table and lacing her fingers. “Tell me.”
So, he does.
He tells her about the way you stuck to him like glue through the divorce, the way you wiggled your way into Haley’s heart, captured the love of his son, and earned the trust of his entire family.
He tells her what Haley said in the hospital, the tenacious care you showed his unyielding and unwilling ass when he was healing, the way your grief soothed his in the wake of Haley’s loss.
He tells her about the moments of euphoria in the years of want and doubt and fear.
He tells Emily about the day she died, how there was nothing more painful than that necessary lie. He tells her how easy it was to lie to the others, how it ripped him in half to lie to you.
He tells her about the day he left for Pakistan, about the fight the night before, the kiss he pressed to your cheek on the tarmac, the endless, wretched nights missing you in the desert.
He tells her about the fight when he finally came home, skims over the following days, jumps and meanders around to Christmas, to moving in, to the bliss that now seems to follow him wherever he goes.
Emily watches the smile that plays at his mouth when he talks about you, the softness in his eyes as recalls the look on your face and the words you said and the way you are with Jack. There’s a kind of peace in him that she’s never really seen before.
Maybe, she imagines, it was there before she met him (the second time). Maybe this peace existed with Haley. Maybe this is the most she’s ever heard him speak at once. Maybe it makes her smile.
Maybe this peace is what his love looks like.
If that’s the case, she thinks, you are very lucky indeed.
It could have been hours, it could have been minutes, but at some point he stops talking.
“Hotch?”
He looks over at her, the softness lingering in his eyes.
“I’m really happy for you.”
His lips twitch. “Thanks.”
“And you know it’s my God-given right to tell everyone else once this case is over, right?”
+++
You actually are asleep by the time Aaron gets back to the hotel. He leans against the wall in the dark with his hands in his pockets, enjoying the peace before the inevitable shitshow.
He crosses the room and crouches at your side, running the back of his fingers over your cheek. You stir, sleepy noises leaving your throat as your eyes crack open.
“Aaron?”
“Yeah. Just me.”
You smile a little and close your eyes again. “How’d she take it?”
“Remarkably well.” He kisses your forehead. “Get some sleep. I’ll see you in the morning.”
“No,” you whine, drawn-out and slurred. “Don’t leave. Stay. I set an alarm.”
With a resigned sigh, he strips and slides into bed behind you, wrapping you in his arms and holding you close.
+++
You and Aaron sit on proverbial pins and needles for the rest of the case, but Emily keeps her word. The only indication of her knowledge came the morning after her chat with Aaron, when she pulled you to her and hugged you so tight you could hardly breathe.
She seizes her moment on the plane, about halfway home.
“Derek, you owe me fifty bucks.”
She hardly looks up from her book as she speaks.
He takes off his headphones and wrinkles his brow. “What?”
She repeats herself, slower, as if she was speaking to a child. “You. Owe. Me. Fifty. Bucks.”
“...Why?”
Emily finally looks up from her book to pointedly stare at you and Aaron, seated next to each other and sharing a bag of Goldfish you stole from Jack’s snack drawer. You’re both reading from the same file, absently reaching for crackers as you go along.
Derek’s confusion continues to smother his face until it finally clicks in.
He steals a page from Reid’s notebook and balls it up, tossing it across the plane and breaking your concentration. You look up, only a little startled, to find a face-splitting grin blinding you across the cabin.
Derek’s small ruckus has drawn the attention of the rest of the team - well, all except JJ, who’s fast asleep on the couch.
There seems to be a collective sigh of relief as money exchanges hands. You’re not quite sure what the bet was, but Emily seems to have won handily.
Aaron takes your hand under the table, waiting for the other shoe to drop.
It doesn’t.
Everyone simply returns to their tasks, little smiles on their faces.

masterlist
pairing: carol danvers x reader
words: ~1,276
warnings: angst, happy ending, carol is soft for the reader
requested: yessum
a/n: i haven't written this much for carol in such a short amount of time in 3 years wowow. just posting these as i go kdfhdsjf. hope you like it anon, and happy reading everyone! ♡
Tumblr media
From the moment she woke up that morning, something in the back of her head was nagging at her, telling her that she'd needed to remember something important.
She'd been racking her brain all morning while getting ready, trying to remember if she'd missed a meeting the day before, or maybe she'd just forgotten to take the trash out the night before (you always had to remind her when it was her turn).
She rationalizes with herself that if what she needed to remember was that important, she'd remember it once she got to work.
But by the time lunchtime rolls around, she still hasn't got a clue.
-
"Hi, baby. We still on for later?"
You call her a little after lunch, asking about your traditional dinner and netflix nights with Carol that you've shared ever since you two started dating.
"Yep, I've only got a few more things to do and then I'll be on my way home as soon as I'm done."
She hears you hum in response from the other side, knowing you were working just as hard as she was on your end.
"We'll I'll let you get back to work, the quicker you finish the faster you can get home."
She ends the call with a promise to see you soon, Natasha entering the room just as she says goodbye.
"Was that Y/N?"
She hums as she nods, putting her phone away while the redhead sets down files about their recent target in front of her.
"What did you get her?"
She furrows her eyebrows at the question, looking at her friend like she'd just grown three heads.
"I haven't gotten her anything?" She trails off.
The last time Carol checked, your anniversary wasn't for another couple of months, so there's no way that Natasha could be talking about that.
Right?
She looks just as confused with Carols answer as Carol feels, the two of them awkwardly watching one another.
"Come on." Natasha coughs, interrupting Carols thoughts. "We better finish up this plan so you can get home quickly."
-
"It should just be a quick job. Two, three days tops."
"Sounds like a plan."
Her and Natasha were finalising the details of assignment they were given when she remembers.
Or rather, when she gets reminded.
"So, I'll see you the day after tomorrow?"
"Bright and early."
"Oh, could you tell Y/N that I wished her a happy birthday for me." The redhead says. "I'll make it up to them when we get back since I won't be able to see them till after."
"Shit."
Natasha looks at her with a worried expression, surprised at the sudden change in the taller woman's tone.
Clearly Carol wasn't as quiet as she thought she was.
"What's wrong?"
Shit. Shit. Shit.
Today was your birthday.
And she forgot.
She looks at the clock on the wall, and groans quietly to herself. 10:48. Even if she gets home within the next twenty minute, she already knows it's too late.
"I gotta go, Nat, I'll see you later."
-
The apartment is dark when she makes it home, the guilt that's been steadily building since she rushed out after Natasha had inadvertently reminded her that it was your birthday increasing by tenfold when she sees the 'Happy Birthday!' cake sitting on your dining table.
You confirm her guesses when she spots you on your bed, your back facing her with the covers pulled up to your shoulders. It's late, but still early enough that Carol knows you shouldn't be asleep yet.
Nevertheless, she could infer why you went to bed early.
She knows the moment you figure out that she's in the room, your chest pauses mid-breath when you realize that you were no longer alone. That's all it takes for Carol to stride to your side of the bed.
"Baby, I am so sorry. I didn't mean to forget- I don't even know how it slipped my mind. This whole day, I've knew I was forgetting something and I hate that I forgot about your day, baby-"
She stops her ramble when you place a hand on her shoulder, squeezing it gently.
"It's okay, Car."
She can't see your face well in the dark, but hearing the way your voice sounds thick with tears breaks her heart even more.
"It's not okay, baby." She murmurs softly. "I forgot."
You don't say anything, instead sighing heavily as your hand slips from her shoulder, retreating back to resting underneath your head.
She stays there, kneeling in front of you in the dark, for a moment, trying to rack her brain for something- anything she could do to make up for it.
"Come on, we're going out."
You sniff quietly, rubbing your eyes in a way Carol knows is a way to hide the fact that you were getting rid any evidence you were crying. "Car, I don't feel like celebrating anymore."
"This is my fault, Y/N, and I refuse to let your birthday pass without celebrating it with you." She sighs. "Please, baby?"
Your stare is palpable, even in the dark, and she holds her breath, waiting for you to kick her out of the bedroom, or even for you to tell her to get lost.
"Give me five minutes."
-
"I'm really sorry again, Y/N/N."
You pause mid-scoop, looking at her while you set your ice cream cup down. Turns out there's not a lot of places open at this time of night, but you two made it work with what you had, sitting at an ice cream store that was thankfully open till late.
"You don't have to keep apologising, my love."
She knows that you're not mad at her, you told her on the walk over, but she can't stop the words from falling out of her mouth.
"I did want to spend the day with you, but I also know that work gets in the way sometimes. Even if you did forget, you did something about it. We're here aren't we?"
You send a reassuring smile her way, but you scoot closer to her until your thighs were pressed against each other when you see that she wasn't convinced just yet.
"Baby, birthday's have never been all that special to me anyways, I always cared more about the people I spent my day with."
She wants to argue that she couldn't even do that, and that out of the 24 hours of your actual birthday, she only managed to spend an hour of it with you.
"Any time spent with you is time well spent." You tell her. "You're here with me now, so that's all that matters, okay?"
-
It's only after a few more reassurances that 'I promise, Car, we're fine, I'm not mad' that she let's herself loosen up. She knows the guilt of today won't go away in an hour, but seeing you smile and enjoy yourself does wonders.
So when you pretend to lean in for a kiss just to smear ice cream on her nose, she doesn't have it in her to get mad. Not when you throw your head back laughing like a little kid, your smile taking over your features as you lean into her while you catch your breath.
She even smiles and poses when you take a picture of her before apologising (though she knows you're not sorry) and offering to clean the dessert off.
As you're wiping her face, eyes shining with admiration instead of the tears that were there just a few hours ago, she promises to never forget another birthday again.
"Happy birthday, Y/N/N."

Pairing: Bucky Barnes x Fem!Reader
Prompt: 9) There’s only one bed, and we sleep as far away as possible from each other but wake up cuddling
Requester: Anonymous
Summary: Bucky spends more time out of his dorm than in it with how much his roommate amorously makes love to his girlfriend. Luckily, his cute across-the-hall neighbor is generous about lending her place to him. Bucky’s unsure if he wants to hug or kiss his roommate for putting him in the situation he is in now.
Note: Thank you for sending this in! :) This trope is the OG.

You would say that every meeting you've had with James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes is always a series of unfortunate events.
The first time was when you were locked outside of your dorm room because you're an idiot without a roommate. Since it wasn't your first incident, you were very reluctant to call the campus security guard to let you in. You're pretty sure he hates you.
Luckily, across the hall, you had some new neighbors.
"You must be James-"
"Bucky, please," he offers you an easy, charming smile.
"Bucky, nice to meet you," you smiled back.
You had been standing outside your door for quite sometime when Bucky came back, explaining how Steve was out with his girlfriend. As it would be, Bucky knew how to pick a locked door open. You only got a laugh when you asked him about such questionable skills he had.
The next time you met Bucky was when you spilled your grocery bags all over the floor before entering into your building. Bucky seemed to just arrive home from his afternoon classes.
"This is so embarrassing," you muttered with flushed cheeks as Bucky helped you pick everything up.
"Well, no use crying over spilled milk."
"I haven't bought milk," you joked, causing him to laugh. Bucky had helped you carry your groceries in.
"No roommate?" He looked around the place, seeing how the extra room you had turned into a study room.
"Nope! Well, I mean, I had one earlier in the year, but she moved out after 3 months to transfer to another university. They didn't assign me with anyone else."
"Lucky," Bucky sighed.
"Roommate problems?" You raised your brow. You had come to know that Bucky and Steve have been friends since they were in diapers, now seemingly grown and going to university together too.
It seemed hard to believe the two friends would not like rooming together.
"Not problems, per se," Bucky licked his lips. "Just Steve likes to bring Peggy over a lot, and she stays the night often. I guess her roommate is kind of a psychopath."
You nodded slowly and understandingly. It was probably difficult to get studying done or sleep with hearing your roommate fuck at night.
"Well," you offer him a nervous smile, "you are always welcome here if you need the space to study."
"Thanks, doll."
It seems after that, Bucky took your offer quite seriously. Over the next few weeks, he would show up to your place in the evening needing some quiet to work on his papers and upcoming tests.
You certainly didn't mind the company, sometimes having the place to yourself could be a little lonely when everyone else had their roommates to hang out with.
It was almost kind of nice—an easy friendship brewing between the two of you.
The thought of dating never really crossed your mind because you weren't ignorant of the fact that Bucky was wildly popular across campus. Steve was too, but Peggy Carter was also wildly popular herself, making them a dream couple.
So, all sorts of people were trying to put themselves on Bucky's radar.
And, well, you were just you.
You were just flittering through your university life. You had friends, of course, game nights were on Friday, and went out on the occasional weekend to drink.
Really, the only time you got to spend time with Bucky was within your dorm building.
"I brought takeout!" Bucky holds up thick bags with food. You can smell the contents right away and smile.
"Thai food?" You smile, hopeful, in case you're somehow wrong.
Bucky grins at you as you let him in. He puts the bags on the counter, and you help him take the things out.
"Yeah, I saw you staring at their building while I was on the way to class the other day," he laughs. "How long did you stand there?"
You felt your cheeks warm at being caught by someone.
"Only ten minutes," you mumble.
Bucky licks his tongue against his bottom lip, smiling at you as he takes a seat.
You moan, almost a little inappropriately when you take your first bite.
"God, it's been way too long," you sigh happily as you munch away.
Bucky laughs, "For someone who likes Thai food so much, I don't see you eat it too often."
You shrug. "Thai food is one of those things where there's a lot of dishes that are shared. My friends, unfortunately, don't share my love for Thai food."
"Blasphemous!" Bucky gasps dramatically and jokingly, but you follow along with a firm nod.
"That's what I've been saying!"
Bucky grins. "Alright, how about your boyfriend?"
You roll your head over to Bucky with a look. "I think as often as you spend here, you should know by now I don't have one."
"Just checking," Bucky shrugs. "Any particular reason why?"
You quirk your brow at him. "Well, I'll tell you if you tell me why you haven't got a girl. Lord knows you don't have a shortage of options."
Bucky chuckles as he looks at you, scooping more food into your mouth. His eyes soften for just a moment.
"Just waiting on the right girl is all," he says, looking back at his food when you look up at him.
"Ah, then we're two peas in a pod," you smile, "I'm also waiting for the right person, and unfortunately, the only guys on my roster right now are frat boys."
You scrunch your face a little, and Bucky lets out a burst of laughter at your expression.
"Any particular reason for that?" He asks.
"One of my friends is in a sorority," you sigh. "She thinks she can get me to join if she shoves hot guys my way. I'm actually going to get dragged to a party on Saturday."
"Well," Bucky licks his lip, "is it working?"
"Not even in the slightest," you smirk.
Bucky grins.

"I don't want to study anymore, my brain is melting," Bucky groans as he leans back against your couch with his head facing the ceiling.
His eyes shut as he tries to make all the words disappear from his head, and you laugh at him.
"It's only been two hours," you point out. "Don't you have a huge test on Saturday afternoon?"
"I can't," Bucky moans dramatically. "I can't anymore. I should accept my inevitable doom and fail."
You roll your eyes with a smile as you lean forward and close his books. "Alright, drama queen. I think you just need a break. Why don't we just put on a movie?"
"Annnnd, now my brain is unmelting," Bucky sits up with an excited twinkle in his eye.
You end up watching three movies, but by the third movie, you fall asleep.
Bucky sits there, eyes drifting to you with ease as the movie plays on.
You snored a little, causing him to smile involuntarily.
Alright, Bucky admits, you were just beyond adorable to him.
But finding the right person also takes time.
⊶⊶⊶⊶⊶✞⊷⊷⊷⊷⊷
Friday night is game night.
Your friends get much too rowdy as you try to quiet them down, knowing Bucky is probably trying to study across the hall.
One of your friends drinks way too much and ends up passing out on the couch, dead to the world.
"Alright, let's call it a night," you yawn as you stand up and stretch. It's well past 1 AM as your friends get up.
"Should we wake him?" One of your friends asks.
"Nah, just leave him. I don't even know if he will wake up," you and your friends share a quick laugh as they leave your building.
"Don't forget we have the party tomorrow," your friend, Mary Jane, pulls you in for a hug.
"Right," you drawl, "Another attempt to find me a gross, frat boyfriend?"
"I mean, show me another guy on your roster, and I won't try to drag you to these parties," Mary Jane laughs.
You made some noise of agreement as you pat her back before she lets go, walking to the door and giving you a little wave before leaving.
You stretch again before you go to your closet to bring out an extra blanket and set it over your friend. You grab a glass of water and some Advil because you know that poor sucker will feel it tomorrow.
You look in the fridge and groan when you see you've run out of eggs. Typically, you wouldn't mind getting them in the morning, but your friend was someone who needed food immediately when they were hungover. You weren't willing to wake up any earlier to get the eggs in the morning, so you closed the fridge and got ready to head to the 24-hour convenience store down the block.
You were casually scrolling through your phone as you left your apartment. When you opened the door, you could hear some...sounds from Bucky's apartment, and you felt instant pity for the man. You were ready to leave the building when a figure sitting in the lobby scared the shit out of you.
"Holy fuc--Bucky?"
Bucky looked up with slightly bleary eyes, and it looks like he was still studying as he had his textbook in his lap along with his notebook.
"Oh, what are you doing down here?" He asked, sounding rather tired.
"What are you doing down here?" You retorted. "It's almost 2 AM. Don't you have a huge test tomorrow?"
"...Steve and Peggy had a fight..." Bucky pressed his lips together, and you don't need to ask further that the noises you heard earlier were them making up.
You wheedle from foot to foot while you look at Bucky. He looks exhausted, and you feel awful he's been sitting out here for God knows how long.
"How long were you out here for?"
"I don't know," Bucky shrugs, "Couple hours?"
You sigh. "Why didn't you just let me know. You could've come over."
"It was game night for you, wasn't it?" Bucky blinks because he was pretty sure he saw your sorority friend leave about 10 minutes ago.
You let out a pretty deep sigh, holding your hand out in front of him.
He scrunches his brows.
"C'mon," you wiggle your fingers, "come get some eggs with me, and you can crash at my place tonight."
Bucky gives you a light grin as he closes his textbook and grabs your hand as you put very little effort into pulling him up.

There's a body.
In the place where Bucky thought he was going to sleep.
You don't seem to pay any mind to it as you put the eggs and orange juice away in the fridge.
Bucky is thinking a mile a minute.
The couch was taken, and the extra room you had was turned into a study room.
Was he supposed to sleep on the carpet? Were you going to give him a sleeping bag?
"Hey," Bucky grabs your attention, "Where should I crash?"
You shut the fridge door, running your hand through your hair as you make your way to your room.
"We can just bunk in the same bed," you say with a shrug, and Bucky thinks he might have a heart attack.
"You're okay with that?" Bucky asks slowly.
You shrug again, "Yeah, I bunk with people all the time. Don't you? It's like part of the university experience."
Bucky doesn't know how to say that he's probably doing more than just sleeping when he bunks with someone.
You turn around and lean at your doorframe, quirking your brow with a smirk.
"Don't tell me you aren't enough of an adult to share a bed with me."
Getting a rise out of Bucky seems to work as Bucky stalks into your bedroom.
"I'll show you an adult," he mutters childishly, and you roll your eyes with a smile.
And although Bucky says such big words, he's lying stiff as a board on the bed. He lies as close to the edge as possible without falling with his back turned to you, and you can't help but chuckle a little.
"You can unclench, you know. I hardly doubt you'll get some rest if you lie there like a metal rod," you say, but you're also lying pretty close to the edge with your back turned to him, though not as stiff.
It's silent for a moment, but eventually, you feel the bed shift a little as Bucky relaxes.
It's silent again, and you feel yourself starting to fall asleep.
"Who was that on your couch?" Bucky asks, breaking the silence.
"Hm?" You hum, opening your eyes slightly. "Oh, just a friend. He usually doesn't come to game night, but his boyfriend is visiting back home this weekend. He went a little too hard on the drinks."
"He's gay?"
"Yeah, got a problem?" You ask almost daring Bucky to say he does.
"Definitely not," Bucky smiles.
It's silent again.
"So--"
"Go to sleep, dumbass, you have a test in the morning," you say without opening your eyes. You hear Bucky chuckle softly.
"Goodnight, doll."
"Goodnight," you smile.

Warm.
Bucky felt warm. Maybe a little too warm.
He hasn't opened his eyes yet, but he can feel sunlight hitting his face and hear the birds chirping outside.
Bucky takes a deep breath in and feels shifting in his arms. He moves a little, pulling the warmth in closer.
He roughly hums in the back of his throat when he feels lips press against his collarbone.
It hits him like a freight train.
Bucky immediately opens his eyes, his body becoming rigid again as you come into view.
What started with the two of you sleeping at the furthest edges of the bed with your backs turned to each other ended up being the very opposite.
Sometime during the middle of the night, the two of you gravitated towards the middle of the bed. You were wrapped up in his arms, head just under his chin. He could feel your breath on the base of this throat, and it was giving him goosebumps.
Your hands were wrapped around his back, gripping his shirt slightly. Bucky couldn't even move too much with your legs intertwined with his. A groan wanted to escape his lips with his thigh wedged between your legs.
Bucky tried to move slowly without waking you.
He really did.
But then you let out a whine, holding him tighter and clenching your legs to lock his thigh in.
"Stop moving," you whined.
God, Bucky doesn't think he'll make it. He's already got morning wood, and this is too much.
He calls your name in an attempt to wake you up.
"Doll, you gotta get up, I have a test soon," he says instead when you hardly react to him calling your name.
This time, you do blearily open your eyes with a huff.
You untangle yourself from him as Bucky lets out a quiet sigh of relief. Sitting up, you let out a yawn and let out a big stretch, your shirt riding a little up as you do.
You look at your clock.
"Alright, there's about an hour before your test. Eat some breakfast before you go."
"It's really fin--"
"Break. fast."
You leave the room, and Bucky is left sitting there by himself. The morning passes quickly as you make breakfast. The sounds nor the smell seem to wake your friend up.
"Good luck on your test!" You smile at him as you make him a breakfast sandwich for him to go.
Bucky smiles back with a 'thanks' before he leaves your place confused.
Did this morning not affect you at all? Did you not see him as a man?
Bucky was distracted during the whole test.
⊶⊶⊶⊶⊶✞⊷⊷⊷⊷⊷
You held your smile until you heard the footsteps fade from your door.
After that, you nearly screamed. You stalked over to your hungover friend and whipped a pillow into his face.
"Ack!" He wakes up, nearly falling off the couch. He groans instantly when he sees your face.
"I'm so hungover, oh my god," your friend moans.
Your face feels hot as it's flushed in embarrassment. "This is all your fault for drinking too much and crashing on the couch! I should've pushed you onto the floor!"
You let out a groan before you stalked off to the washroom, closing the door.
Your friend sits up, looking at the plate of eggs and bacon on the table.
"What'd I do?"
⊶⊶⊶⊶⊶✞⊷⊷⊷⊷⊷
The entire day leading up to the party is spent with you trying to contain your embarrassment. You're trying to repress the memory of being pressed up against Bucky and clingy.
You didn't hear from Bucky after his test, and you were much too mortified to say anything, so you hadn't texted him either.
"You look constipated, please take some shots and relax," Mary Jane hands you tequila with a lime slice.
You shoot back the shot without hesitation.
"Alright," Mary Jane whistles, "Do I even want to know what's got your panties in a knot?"
"Nope," you shake your head.
"Alright, fair enough. Get some more drinks and mingle!" Mary Jane turns her attention past you. You look behind and see her current boyfriend, Harry, enter the room with kegs.
You sigh when Mary Jane looks at you with puppy eyes.
"Go," you tell her. She squeals and kisses you on the cheek before rushing off.
You do flitter through the party, catching up with some friends, and getting some drinks.
As embarrassed as you are, the last thing you want is to get sloppy, so you don't overdo it.
But as you already know, luck is never on your side.
Especially when you see Bucky walking into the party. People are getting excited and rushing up to say hi to him because Bucky rarely goes to frat parties.
The two of you lock eyes instantly, and the memory of this morning rushes back, and you wished the ground would open up and swallow you.
'Play it cool,' you tell yourself as you turn back to the group of people you're standing with.
You're not even sure what they've been talking about, and there's no way you could focus on that now.
Bucky doesn't seem to be rushing up to you either. He's drinking a beer with Harry as a crowd surrounds them.
You can see girls in the back looking at him and whispering, and you feel the burn in your gut now for some reason.
God, were you such a cliché that sharing a bed with Bucky actually made you think that way about him?
The night seems to continue on, and even though you keep catching eyes with Bucky, neither of you seems willing to make the first move.
You head over to the bar to get more drinks when someone approaches you and orders you a drink.
You internally groan.
Brock Rumlow.
A real piece of work.
He made it into Theta Chi, well-known to be a troublemaker.
He was known to sleep around and make unwanted advances towards girls and was hardly passing his classes.
Brock had turned his attention to you lately, which you flat out rejected him. It helped that you were friends with Mary Jane, who was dating Harry, the president of Theta Chi, and could tell Brock to back off.
But Brock Rumlow liked to push his boundaries.
"You look pretty good tonight, did you dress pretty for me?" He smirks at you, and you roll your eyes.
"Fuck off, Rumlow. I already told you I'm not interested," you look away, not bothering to take the drink he ordered for you.
"Now don't be like that, you haven't even gotten to know me yet," Brock leans against the counter close to you.
"And as I've explicitly told you, no," you whip your head back and glare at him.
You're about to walk off and see if you could find Mary Jane and Harry when Brock grabs your arm.
"What the fuck-" You start to say when another arm comes into view, grabbing Brock's wrist.
You look over to see Bucky standing there with his lip pressed into a thin line as he grips Brock's wrist hard enough until he lets go.
"Ow--what's your problem, dude?" Brock holds his wrist before shaking the pain off.
"Keep your hands off her," Bucky cocks his brow as he stands in front of you.
"How about you mind your business," Brock glares at him. "What? Are you her boyfriend?"
Bucky is standing so close to you that you can see his muscles tense, and you find yourself wrapping your arms around him from behind.
"Yes," you interrupt as Bucky lifts his arm over you and then around you so that you're tucked by his side. "He is my boyfriend."
You look up with a loving smile, trying to play the part when you find Bucky's steel-blue eyes gazing back at you.
He licks his lips, teeth dragging over his bottom lip, you swear so slowly before he smirks and looks back at Brock.
"So," Bucky keeps smiling, "fuck off."
"You could've just said you had a boyfriend," Brock grumbles at you like it's your fault somehow.
"My girlfriend doesn't have to say anything. Do you need to be taken back to elementary school to understand what 'no' or 'I'm not interested' means?" Bucky cocks his brow, and Brock sneers at him.
He looks like he wants to cause a scene, but Bucky is a well-known guy around campus, even if he's not in a fraternity house. Brock knows nothing good would come from starting a fight with Bucky, and he's already on thin ice with Harry.
And Bucky knows that.
So, he turns to you with a smile.
"C'mon, doll, let's get out of here."
As you get ready to leave, Bucky turns to Brock once more with a steely look on his face.
"Stay the fuck away from my girl."
Bucky actually leads you out of the party, saying a brief goodbye to Harry and Mary Jane, who wiggles her brows at you, and you're so grateful to have left.
The two of you walk silently but slowly back to the apartment, and you've got your arms wrapped around your midsection.
You cough, bringing Bucky's attention to you as you come to a stop under the streetlight.
"Thanks," you say a little awkwardly, "for you know, playing along."
Bucky smiles lightly.
"If those are the kind of guys on your roster, I think you should expand your horizons a little."
"Not all of us can have a guy like you on our list, but I'll take that under advisement."
You laugh, trying to play it off as a joke because even though it was all just pretend for a moment, being pressed up against Bucky as his girlfriend shouldn't have felt as good as it did.
"You can add me to your roster."
The words were said so smoothly you had almost missed it. You turn your head to Bucky, who's standing there with his hands in his pockets.
"What?" You say unsurely, convinced you might've heard him wrong.
"I told you I was waiting for the right girl," Bucky smiles, "I'm waiting for you, doll."
You feel an explosion of butterflies in your stomach, cheeks heating up as you process Bucky's words.
Every meeting you've had with Bucky is a series of unfortunate events.
And perhaps between every moment, while waiting for the right guy to come along, it only took waking up in his arms to realize maybe he was there all along.

turn to dust all that i adore
whoops it’s a 2b spec fic based on two seconds in a promo love that
title from things we lost in the fire by bastille
ao3 | 2.3k | 2b spoilers
The fire continues raging whenever TK closes his eyes, and he doesn’t know if it’s better or worse than the sight that greets him when his eyes are open. He wishes he could wipe that awful night from his memory completely and go back to where they were just a few days ago, happy and safe and in their home. They don’t even have that anymore, the house little more than ash, and TK would be okay with that - they could rebuild from that - if Carlos weren’t so silent and still in front of him.
The fire was three days ago; TK hasn’t seen Carlos awake in four. He’d been in the middle of a 24-hour shift when the call came through, bickering with Nancy about the merits of various sitcoms, Captain Vega probably rolling her eyes in the back as they returned to the station.
Nancy had quietly offered to drive when they found out the address, but TK had shaken his head. His hands were tight on the steering wheel, and he’d pressed down a little harder than necessary on the accelerator, praying he’d be able to get there fast enough. The house was a lost cause, if what dispatch said was true, but if he could save Carlos, then that would be enough.
He’d failed - of course he had. An explosion had ripped through the building just as they’d pulled up, the glass shattering as flames leapt from their bedroom window. TK had felt a cold dread settle inside him, and his worst fears had been confirmed when the team emerged with Carlos limp in their arms.
He’s alive, but the damage had been done. Too much smoke inhalation and multiple horrific burns left him hanging by a thread; it’s a miracle, really, that the heart monitor is still beeping out a steady rhythm. TK can’t be thankful, though, not when he knows everything could turn on its head in an instant. Not when they’ve already lost so much.
A soft knock on the door grabs TK’s attention. He looks up to see his dad standing there, a sad smile on his face and a plastic-wrapped sandwich in hand. TK twists his face into a grimace and returns to watching the bed.
“I’m not hungry.”
“Son -”
“I’m not hungry.”
“You’ve been saying that for days,” his dad points out, walking over and pointedly laying the sandwich in TK’s lap. “Starving yourself isn’t going to make him wake up any faster.”
TK barely spares the sandwich a cursory glance. “Nor is forcing myself to eat.”
His dad sighs, crossing the room and grabbing the extra chair. He sets it down next to TK’s and, though he doesn’t look, TK knows he’s being subjected to one of his ‘dad looks’.
“TK, you’ve barely left the hospital since it happened,” he says. “I know it’s hard right now, but you can always come back and stay with me. You still have a home.”
“Not without him, I don’t.”
He hears his dad’s sharp intake of breath, feels his hand running through his hair, but TK’s detached from it all. He studies Carlos’s face, every part familiar to him, but so strange and foreign now. Carlos has never been a restless sleeper - that’s all TK - but there’s usually some movement. A crease appearing between his brows as his face scrunches up, his muscles shifting as he pulls TK closer, his nose gently nuzzling the back of TK’s neck. This still version of him isn’t Carlos. This isn’t the man TK loves.
But it’s close as he’s going to get until Carlos comes back to him, and TK can’t stand the thought of leaving him. In all the months they’ve been dating, they’ve rarely spent a night apart, and most of those were either on shift or still in their bed, with a pillow that smelt like the other and the promise of seeing each other again soon. Going back to his dad’s house would only be bearable if Carlos were with him, but that’s not possible, so neither is leaving.
“TK, I -”
“If you’re just here to give me this,” he interrupts, waving the sandwich in his dad’s direction, “then, thanks, but you should probably go now. His parents are coming in a bit and the hospital barely lets three of us be in here as it is.”
His dad recoils, wounded, but doesn’t budge, much to TK’s irritation. He’s really not in the mood for any more meaningless talk or thinly veiled attempts to get him to eat or sleep.
“Dad, please.”
“I was contacted by the PD this morning,” his dad says instead. TK’s head snaps up, eyes wide. “They found out what caused the fire.”
TK waits, but his dad suddenly becomes very reticent, his eyes flicking between TK and the bed. Clearly, this wasn’t something as simple as the electrics blowing or the washing machine malfunctioning; it’s worse, and TK’s breath seems to stick in his lungs.
“Dad?” he croaks.
Their eyes finally meet, his dad’s face arranged into a sympathetic grimace. “It was arson.”
Time stops.
“What?” TK breathes, shaking his head. Arson. Someone burned their home down and almost killed Carlos, on purpose. And for what? To kill them? The only reason TK wasn’t caught up in it too, after all, is because he was fortunate enough to be on shift that night. “Do they know who?”
“I’m sorry,” his dad says, voice full of regret. “It’s been happening all over the city, no leads so far.”
TK sits back in his chair, a white-hot spark of anger flashing through him as he once more takes in the many bandages on Carlos’s body. He wonders if this was how Judd felt those weeks ago when he found out the guy who’d run them off the bridge was also in the hospital, because TK would very much like to go out and find the people who did this. He wants them to pay for what they’ve done to the love of his life.
As is sensing where his mind has gone, his dad starts rubbing gentle circles on his back, though it doesn’t calm TK like it usually does.
“I think I’ll stay here until his parents show up,” he says. “If that’s alright?”
It’s a non-question; his tone makes it clear that he’s not going anywhere no matter what, but TK doesn’t have it in him to put up even a token argument. He simply nods wearily, and settles in for another day of waiting - another day without his boyfriend’s comforting presence at his side.
*
A week after the fire, he’s told he can go back to the house, if he wants. He doesn’t, really, but he goes anyway, knowing that Carlos will have questions when he wakes up, and maybe he’ll be able to salvage something.
Probably not, but it’s never been the stuff that’s mattered to him. It’s been what the loss of it all represents, the memories that now exist only in his head and in the ashes.
TK stares up at the blackened husk of their home, something keeping him rooted in the middle of the street. Police tape is still up and there’s an officer waiting to escort him in when he’s ready, but TK just… He doesn’t know if he can do this.
“TK?”
He jumps at the unexpected voice, turning to see Carlos’s neighbour from two doors down, Molly, her daughter trailing behind her. TK doesn’t know many of the people around here, but Molly and her husband are often to be found playing with Lilia on the porch, and they always make a point of greeting them. Carlos has even babysat for them a few times, though TK’s rarely there for that.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to startle you,” she says, smiling apologetically. “How are you doing?”
He shrugs. “I’m okay,” he replies, and Molly seems to understand what that really means. “Carlos is still in hospital, but we’re, um. We’re hoping he’ll wake up soon.”
She nods, glancing at the house. “It’s terrible, what happened. You’ve got somewhere to stay, right?”
“I’ve only just moved out of my dad’s place, so I’ll just go back there while we figure something out. Guess he’ll be glad we don’t have to transport all my stuff this time.”
The joke is hollow, and Molly’s face twists in sympathy. “Well, if you need anything, we’re happy to help out however we can. Carlos has always been good to us - to everyone here - and we hate that you’re going through this now. Send him our love, okay?”
TK gives her a small smile, nodding. He’s about to excuse himself to finally go inside, when Lilia tugs at her mother’s hand, whispering something in her ear when Molly leans down.
“We were baking when we saw you pull up,” Molly explains, straightening. “Lilia insisted on bringing these out to you, didn’t you, Lils?”
Lilia beams up at him when TK looks over to her, thrusting a small tupperware in his general direction. “Cookies!” she exclaims, by way of explanation.
TK chuckles and squats so he’s at her height, taking the box from her. She’s watching him expectantly, so he takes a cookie - clumsily decorated with mountains of sprinkles - and pops it in his mouth, making a show of enjoying it.
“My compliments to the chef,” he says, licking his lips playfully. Lilia giggles, then, without warning, throws her arms around him, the force of it almost sending him on his ass. Molly gasps and reaches to pull her daughter away, but TK shakes his head at her, mouthing an, It’s okay.
Steadying himself, he gently wraps his arms around Lilia’s back, allowing her to bury her face in the crook of his neck as she attempts to squeeze him within an inch of his life. It’s enough to pull a real smile out of him, though tears also spring to his eyes, a sudden emotion overwhelming him. He brushes them away hastily when Lilia unwraps herself from him, but it’s clear that Molly noticed, judging by the sad smile on her face.
“I hope Mr Carlos gets better soon,” Lilia says, her voice earnest in a way only a five-year old’s can be.
TK nods. “Me too.”
“He gave me sweets.”
A laugh bursts out of him at the sudden comment. TK leans close to her, dropping his voice to a whisper. “Shall I tell you a secret? He gave me sweets as well.”
Lilia gasps as though she’s heard something incredibly scandalous. TK laughs again, before standing back up and turning to Molly, who’s been watching the two of them with clear amusement.
“Thank you,” he tells her. “For coming out and talking, and for the cookies.”
“It’s the least we could do,” she says, waving him off. “Like I said, let us know if you need anything, even if it’s just to talk. We’ll be there.”
TK thanks her again, waving at them both as they head back inside. He turns to his and Carlos’s place, then takes a deep, shaky breath.
He can do this.
*
Inside is much as he expects. The worst of the rubble has been cleared, but there’s still some detritus lying around, including a few of their things. TK stoops and carefully retrieves a framed photo from the floor, wiping the dust off the cracked glass. The picture inside is barely recognisable, the colours warped, but he knows the image like the back of his hand - a candid of him and Carlos taken by Marjan during one of their hangs. She’d caught Carlos mid-laugh, a grin plastered on TK’s own face as they’d stared into each others’ eyes.
Marjan had grumbled about how frustratingly lovesick they both were, but the photo quickly became one of TK’s favourites, and it had made its way into a frame less than a week later. TK’s heart aches at the sight of it ruined; he can always print another as it’s still saved on his phone, but it still hurts. Everything does, right now.
As he gazes around the space, eyes catching on mementos and remembering how it all used to look, TK is struck by how much this place had felt like home. He’s only been officially living here for a month, but it’s been theirs for far longer than that, TK’s stuff worming its way in among Carlos’s until it became natural to see two pairs of shoes by the door, two sets of keys in the bowl.
This was theirs, and now it’s nothing.
He drops the photo frame on his way out the door, not sparing a look back as he walks away.
*
He gets the call halfway back to the hospital and TK forgets all about speed limits as he races the rest of the way. He sprints through the corridors, the path to Carlos’s room learned by heart, and skids to a stop in the doorway, his eyes filling with tears at the sight before him.
Carlos, awake and smiling and alive.
TK lets out a sob, his hand flying to his mouth. Carlos turns, his smile widening when he catches sight of him, and he wordlessly lifts his palm up in invitation.
And who is TK to refuse it?
“Hi, baby,” he gasps, before kissing his boyfriend, palms framing Carlos’s face. Carlos’s hands come up to clutch at his wrists, and TK presses their foreheads together, silently revelling in this moment.
There’s a long road still ahead of them - Carlos needs to heal, and they’ll have to do so much to get back on their feet - but he can’t care about that right now. Being here, right now, with Carlos’s warm touch stroking over his skin, is all TK needs.
Carlos came back to him, and that’s the only thing that matters.

When your alarm went off, you were naked in your bed. With a naked Steve beside you. A small groan passing between his lips, Steve reached around you to turn off the alarm clock and then cuddled into you.
“Hmmm,” you hummed, enjoying his arms around you way too much. “You have to get up now.”
“What?” Steve mumbled, half asleep. “What time is it?”
You smirked, rolling on top of him. “It’s 5:20, and I have pre-rounds. And you,” you booped his nose, “have to leave before they see you.”
You gave him a small kiss before rolling off of him.
“Oh, come on, now,” Steve grumbled. “Why don’t you just let them see?” He quickly rolled on top of you, pinning you down.
“No!”
“Please!”
“No! No!”
He began placing kisses all over you. Saying, ‘please’, between eat kiss.
“Steve!” You squealed. “St-stoppp!
~~~
“You two get any sleep?” Scott asked, walking into the kitchen where Val and Clint were eating.
“Oh, she could oil the bedsprings as a courtesy or at least buy a padded headboard,” Val complained.
“So, uh, who’s the guy?” Clint asked.
“You think it was just one guy doing all that work?”
“Yeah, do you mind if I don’t think about that?”
“Oh, you jealous, Barton?” Scott teased.
“I’m not jealous.”
“Well, I am,” Val responded. “But at least I know she’ll be having a long day at work.”
They all froze when they heard a floor board near the top of the stairs squeak. The three of them rushed over to the doorway, wanting to see who was coming down the stairs. Steve snuck down the stairs and out the door, seen by Val, Clint, and Scott.
“Well, at least we know that brain surgery isn’t his only skill,” Val commented, going to get more coffee.
“They—they can’t be…” Clint stared at the front door in shock. “He’s… he’s our boss.”
“Yep,” Scott replied, glancing at his watch. “We’re late. You know, she has been scrubbing in a lot lately on his surgeries.”
“No, Y/N wouldn’t sleep with him just to… no.”
“Well, if she’s not ashamed of it, why is she keeping it a secret?” Val wondered.
“Maybe she didn’t. Maybe it just happened. You know, spontaneously, last night.”
“Good morning,” you greeted, entering the kitchen.
“Morning,” Val and Scott responded.
“So…” Val started, “it sounded like you were having some pretty radical sex last night, all night long. Who was the guy?”
“No one you know,” you lied with a shrug.
Clint, Scott, and Val all gave each other a look.
“We’re late,” Scott said. “Let’s go.”
~~~
“I’m gonna beed a major rush to make it through this day,” Clint said in the locker room. “I need a kick-ass surgery.”
“Ooh, you a bad boy last night, Clint?” Peter taunted.
“No,” Val answered for him. “That would be Y/N.”
“You a bad boy, Y/N?”
“Do tell,” Natasha urged.
“Nothing to tell,” you shrugged.
“That says it all, huh?”
Val slammed her locker door shut, annoyed at your lies.
“Sorry, I have a sex life,” you apologized.
“Don’t apologize,” Peter said. “Embrace it. Share it. Count me in.”
“Yeah, next time, just let me know if I need to go to a hotel so I can get some sleep,” Val said.
“Am I missing something?” You asked.
“You were just a little loud,” Scott replied.
Everyone left except you and Natasha.
“Do they know it’s Captain McDreamy keeping them up all night?” Natasha asked.
“I hope not,” you answered. “I already have Gamora riding me, I don’t need my roommates thinking I’m getting special treatment.”
~~~
You yawned as you and Natasha met up with the other interns and Dr. Gamora. You just hoped that you didn’t look as tired as you felt.
“Barton, Romanoff, Lang, Quill, go on to the clinic,” Gamora ordered. She looked up, catching Clint watch Steve through a window. Steve was putting in eye drops. “Barton, patients are waiting.” Clint scurried off. “You two,” Gamora motioned to you and Val, “come with me. Val, you’re hanging with me today.” Steve walked over. “Good morning, Dr. Rogers.”
“Dr. Gamora,” he replied as you yawned. “Late night, L/N?”
“No,” you responded, “caffeine just hasn’t kicked in yet.”
“If you’re at all religious, you would want to start praying it kicks in soon,” Gamora retorted. “There’s a consult in the pit. Girl with a fever and abdominal pain. After that, Lee in 3311 needs his meds. Mr. Jackson’s IV fell out, and he’s a hard stick. Post-ops in 1337, 3342, 3363, and 2381.”
You had nodded along, trying to get your tired brain to understand what she was saying. “3381, 3342, 3363,” you repeated, “and 23… 81?”
Gamora simply glared at you instead of answering what you needed. “Why are you still standing in front of me?”
You quickly hurried down to the pit, not wanting to get on Gamora’s bad side anymore than you already were. You started your consultation with an eighteen year old girl named Jessie Todd. Her mother and father were both accompanying her. Jessie seemed nervous, biting her nails.
“I think she got some bug on her trip to Mexico with her friends,” Mrs. Todd said. “I told her not to go to a third-world country, but does she ever listen?”
“She’s been weak ever since and she’s lost weight,” Mr. Todd worried.
“Barely,” Jessie mumbled.
“And this morning, she passed out in the shower.”
“When was the trip?” You asked.
“A couple weeks ago,” Jessie answered. “I’m really fine. I just have a fever.”
“Okay, well, will you lie back for an exam for me?”
“No, please, I don’t need an exam. Just give me some antibiotics and send me home.”
“Well, maybe it is just a fever, but they called down for a surgeon, so I have to give the ok to let you go. So just let me do the exam.”
“Do the exam,” Mr. Todd urged.
“No. This is crazy. I’m fine.”
“For God's sake, Jessie, I don't want to spend my entire day here,” Mrs. Todd exclaimed.
“You know, actually, Mrs. Todd, this might be easier if we had some privacy,” you told the parents, sensing that Jessie was worried about their reactions to whatever was going on. “So would you two mind leaving the room?”
“That’s fine,” Mr. Todd said, guiding his wife away.
Jessie lied down and you began to push at her stomach.
“Ow,” Jessie complained. “Don’t push so hard.”
“Can you lift your shirt so I can examine your stomach?” You requested. With a sigh, Jessie slowly lifted her shift, revealing pink scars. “Where did you get these? Jessie… you've had surgery recently. These scars are still pink.”
“Don’t tell my parents.”
“You did this in Mexico so your parents wouldn't know? What did you have done?”
“I can’t tell you.”
“Jessie—“
“I can’t!”
With a sigh, you walked away, ordering a CT for Jessie before heading to help the other patients that Gamora had for you.
~~~
You at just finished Gamora’s last job for you when she paged. You were quickly to go find her.
“You paged?” You questioned, finding her near a nurses station.
“Where are we?” She asked.
“I did the consult, did the IV, the meds, the Post-ops, everything.”
“How is your pit patient?”
“She’s febrile and has peritoneal signs.”
Both you and Gamora’s attentions go to Natasha, who is walking by looking ill.
“You alright, Romanoff?” Gamora wondered, not caring all that much.
“Fine,” Natasha responded, waving it off as she kept going. “On my way back to the clinic.”
“Anyway, about the pit patient.”
“I think she had some sort of illegal surgery done in Mexico,” you stated.
“Botched abortion?”
“No. She has four laparoscopic scars on her abdomen and won't say what they're from, the parents are clueless.”
“She’s a minor.”
“Seventeen. Freshman in college.”
“You order up for a CT?”
“Yes,” you nodded.
“So while she's there, the nurses couldn't get a Foley on Mr. Garay. He may need a Coude cath if you can't get a normal one in there. Write up post-op notes on all surgical-floor patients that had surgery within the last 24 hours. Be sure to document their EKG's and x-rays. Hunt them down if you can't find them.”
“Right away.”
~~~
You were exhausted by the time Jessie’s CT scans came back. Gamora was really working you to the bone. Of course, it didn’t help that you had spent most of the night up with Steve, having some of the most enjoyable sex you’ve ever had. But that wasn’t the point. Scans in hand, you found Gamora at the nurses station near the lobby.
“Dr. Gamora?” You walked up to her. “Jessie Todd’s abdominal CTs.” You handed her the scans.
She took them, holding them up to study them. “Is this girl fat?”
“Not at all,” you shook your head. “She’s a normal college kid.”
“So,” she handed the scans back to you, “what do you see?”
You took them back and studied them yourself. “Her stomach’s stapled. She’s had a gastric bypass.”
“And a bad one at, at that.”
Jessie Todd was moved into a patient room. So you and Gamora requested to speak to her parents outside of the hallway. You were tasked to explain to them what at happened.
“Gastric bypass is a procedure normally done on obese patients to help them lose weight,” you stated, after telling them what their daughter had done.
“Jessie?” Mr. Todd questioned. “She doesn’t need to lose weight.”
“Are you kidding?” Mrs. Todd responded. “This means the world to her. But it is so typical of this girl to take the easy way out. She's done it with everything since she was a little kid.”
“Mrs, Todd, nothing about this is gonna be easy,” Gamora said. “She's gonna face a lifelong struggle with malnutrition unless she has surgery to reverse the procedure.”
“Do the surgery,” Mrs. Todd ordered before turning to her husband. “I told her to watch the freshman 15. Don't eat junk, exercise. But when she came home Christmas, who had to take her out and buy her a brand new pair of size 6 jeans because she couldn't get in the ones I got her last summer?”
“Chrissy, you know, she tries so hard,” Mr. Todd retorted. “She does. She gets good grades. She gets A’s.”
“She had illegal surgery in Mexico.”
“Unfortunately, there were complications with the bypass,” Gamora stated.
“What do you mean?” Mr. Todd asked.
“She has what looks like an abscess under her diaphragm, and edema, which is a swelling of the bowel wall. I can't say for certain she'll recover completely.”
“Just do whatever you have to do to make her well, ok?”
“Of course, sir.”
Gamora walked away, and you stayed to check up on Jessie. It was then that Mrs. Todd entered Jessie’s room, angrily.
“Before you guys start,” Jessie quickly said, “I know you’re mad.”
“Disbelief, Jessie,” Mrs. Todd exclaimed. “Just disbelief.”
“I’m just concerned,” Mr. Todd added, much more calmly than his wife. “Where did you get the idea to do this?”
“The internet,” Jessie answered quietly.
“But, honey, there is a healthy way to lose weight,” Mrs. Todd said.
“Yeah, I tried that, but...it doesn't work for me like it does for you.”
“Hey,” Mr. Todd said, putting a hand on his daughter’s leg, “you don’t need to lose weight.”
“What are you eating?” Mrs. Todd quickly wondered. “And how much have you been working out? I mean, you know, most of the time, when people hit their target weight, they have to work to stay there.”
“Everyone gains weight in college, Mom,” Jessie responded. “It’s—it’s stressful. There’s... there's not enough time for exercise. I just thought if I wasn't worried about my diet, then… I could focus more on my studies.”
“So you took yet another shortcut? Life doesn’t work that way, Jessie.”
“Chrissy!” Mr. Todd exclaimed.
“What? You want to argue this?”
Huffing at his wife, Mr. Todd turned to you. “She has so much potential, if she would just apply herself—”
“Okay, okay,” you interrupted, having heard enough. “I think we should focus on taking care of your daughter. And, Jessie, your parents agree, the best thing to do is to reverse the bypass.”
“No!” Jessie shouted. “No, it's my body. I do not want surgery again. Please?”
“There were serious complications. And this is about your health.”
“But I’d rather be thin.”
“Well, I’m afraid the choice isn’t up to you,” Mrs. Todd responded.
~~~
With a sigh, you found yourself pushed up against the wall in the stairwell. You were tired and so over Mrs. Todd.
“Long day?” Tony’s voice came closer.
You opened your eyes to see him walking up the stairs. “You could say that,” you responded. “How’s trying to get a date with Dr. Potts going?”
“Not so well,” he sighed, coming to leaning against the wall beside you. “I’ve been bringing her coffee or tea every morning though. I’m trying.”
“You really screwed up,” you giggled.
“You’re telling me. How are you and Steve?”
“We’re… fine.”
“He told me you were up all last night.”
“What?!”
“Okay, he didn’t tell me. But I can see how tired both of you are. It doesn’t take a genius to figure it out.”
“It’s that obvious? Tony, are you serious? This could totally ruin—“
“Woah, woah, woah. Calm down there, Y/N. I’m just playing with you. Gosh, you need to take a chill pill or something.”
“Sorry, sorry. I’m just… I know we shouldn’t be doing what we are doing.”
“But you enjoy it too much to stop. I get it… I just wish I was getting some too.”
~~~
Natasha was standing in the hall looking nauseous.
“Romanoff!” Clint called, excitedly hurrying up to her. “I’m scrubbing in on a hemispherectomy with Rogers.”
“Get out!” She responded. “I would kill for that.”
“We're gonna cut out half a girl's brain and it's going to work. It's outrageous. Almost makes it hard to hate him.”
“Why do you hate him?”
“Oh, no reason.”
“You know about him and Y/N, don’t you?”
“You know?”
“When are you gonna figure out that I know everything?”
Noticing Val walking up from behind, Clint pointed at Natasha. “She knows.”
“What?” Val questioned. “About Y/N and the Captain?”
“It’s been going on for, like ever,” Natasha commented.
“Seriously?”
“And you didn’t tell us?” Clint wondered.
“Ooh, you’re a gossip, huh?” Natasha responded.
“I am not!”
“I am,” Val said.
“He’s about to go into major brain surgery on no sleep? Not very responsible.”
“Jealous much?” Natasha chuckled. “Sex all night isn't about being responsible.”
“No,” Val agreed, “it’s about sex all night. I can't believe you're not more pissed off about this, you of all people.”
“Well, Y/N works hard all day. She’s good at her job. Why should you care how she unwinds? I mean, you like to bake all night. Some people like to drink. Others like an occasional screaming orgasm.”
~~~
Gamora and you were carefully operating on Jessie in the OR. Gamora was letting you help with more than you thought she would.
“Handle with care,” Gamora advised as she handed you Jessie’s bowel. “This things—“
“Full of gunk,” you responded. “I know.”
“We need to free the bowel from the adhesions caused from the abscess. This poor girl. What was she thinking?”
“She wants her mother's approval. She wanted to please her.”
“And this damage is the result? Here, resect that.”
“Needle-tip Bovie, please,” you requested, handing the bowel back to Gamora.
“When you’re done here, you have post-ops waiting.”
“I know, Dr. Gamora.”
“Natasha also has the flu. So, you need to pick up the slack in the clinic as well.”
“Look, I’ll mop the floors, okay?” That earned you a glare from Gamora. “Sorry, that was inappropriate.”
“It's not the only thing that's inappropriate. While we're on the subject, you care to tell me what you think you're doing?”
“Look, I'll jump through hoops if you want me to. But what I do what I leave this hospital is my business.”
“Half this hospital knows your business. Flu isn't the only virus spreading around here.”
“I made a choice, and I know you don't respect me for that choice. But I'll live with the consequences.”
“Then I'll have lots of hoops for you to jump through.”
“I've done everything you've asked me to do. I may not do it your way but it gets done. So whatever else you got, bring it on.”
Suddenly, Jessie’s bowel burst. Spraying you with toxic waste. You could hear the people watching in the gallery go, ‘ew’.
“Okay, Dr. L/N, now that you’ve drained the organ, we can attempt to repair it,” Gamora said.
“Now my day is perfect,” you muttered.
The nurses tried to clean you up the best they could as you operated. Though they seemed to only make it worse. After the surgery, you and Gamora headed out into the hallway together.
“I need a shower,” you commented.
“No, I need a shower,” Gamora retorted. “You need to go tell that girl's parents what kind of kid they're getting back.”
“You're not gonna let me shower first?”
“That would be a hoop, would it not?”
“It would qualify.”
“Shower first, then.”
You rushed to the locker room. Val and Natasha were already there.
“Ew, what smells?” Val asked as you passed her.
“That would be me,” you answered, "or more specifically, my patient's insides all over me.”
“That makes me strangely happy.”
“Oh, Y/N,” Natasha grimaced, “you smell like—“
“Karma.”
“What?” You asked Val.
“Nothing.”
“Something vile is stuck in your hair,” Natasha told you, pointing to your hairline. “You know, just go stand over there, please.” She shooed you to the other side of the aisle.
“Ugh, how much do I love being a surgeon right now?” You mumbled.
“Karma,” Val laughed.
“What does karma have to do with anything?”
“I'm just saying, you've been given all the best surgeries. And now you smell like putrid goo. And you're giving off a stench. Karma's a bitch.”
Gamora walked into the locker room. “Dr. Rogers needs an intern in surgery,” she stated. “Which one of you is clear?”
“I’m good!” Natasha raised her hand. She was still looking pale. “Where do you want me?”
“You need to lie down somewhere.”
“I’m fine, I’m completely healthy.”
“L/N?”
“Of course,” Val grumbled.
“What is your problem?” You asked Val, annoyed.
“Um, you! Cause apparently you can help Captain McDreamy in ways the rest of us can’t.”
“You did not just say th—“
“Yes, I did!”
“Hey!” Gamora called out. “Natasha, hemispherectomy in OR 1 with Dr. Shepherd. Go.”
Natasha nodded and hurried away. Val marched off as well.
“Apparently, I’m not the only one with hoops,” Gamora smirked.
~~~
After showering, you found Mrs. and Mr. Todd in the lobby. As you walked, you explained to them what had gone on in surgery.
“We were able to reverse the gastric bypass, but we did lose a significant portion of her bowel,” you told them. “And because of the short gut syndrome, Jessie will never eat normally again.”
“Ok, wait, do…” Mr. Todd tried to put his thoughts together. “How do we help her here?”
“Well, getting proper nutrition will be a lifelong problem for Jessie.”
“Great,” Mrs. Todd murmured, annoyed, “as if we already don't have our hands full with her.”
“She gets good grades. She stays out of trouble. She's smart. I just think she feels like nothing she does is good enough for you.”
“If you somehow think that I'm responsible for this…”
“I think Jessie is killing herself to please you.”
“Oh, please. You have no idea what's going on in that girl's mind.”
“You're her mother. She worships the ground you walk on. She didn't do this for herself.”
“I think that this situation is completely—“
“Chrissy, shut up,” Mr. Todd interrupted.
Both you and Mrs. Todd looked shocked as Mr. Todd walked faster to Jessie’s room.
~~~
Clint had had an interesting day, to say the least. He had discovered that the anesthesiologist in Steve’s surgery was drunk. Bringing up to Dr. Rogers, both the anesthesiologist and Dr. Rogers got mad, throwing him out of the surgery. Which is why he needed another intern.
Durning the surgery, Natasha and Dr. Rogers quickly realized that Clint had been right. Allowing Natasha and another doctor to close, Steve requested Clint to met him outside of the OR.
“Let me explain,” Steve began.
“It’s fine,” Clint responded.
“No, there is a code among doctors. We're not supposed to ask each other questions, not within the walls of this hospital.”
“Okay, so, I was out of line.”
“No, you weren't. I was. I was out of line. Somebody should have taken responsibility. It should have been the guy doing the cutting. It should have been me. You didn't deserve what happened to you today. You did the right thing code or no code.” Steve held out his hand for Clint to shake. Hesitantly, Clint shook it. “You saw me leave the house this morning, didn’t you?”
Clint pulled his hand away. “Oh, was that you?”
“Hmm. I’m not using her. And I don’t favor her.”
“She’s pretty great, you know.”
“Mm-hmm. I know.”
~~~
You went to Jessie, getting her into a wheel chair so that you can walk her around while talking to her alone. You had made a phone call, and you needed to tell her about it.
“Did you fix me?” Jessie asked, after the two of you walked in silence for awhile.
“No, not completely,” you responded.
“So, I won’t get fat?”
“No.”
“Oh. That’s awesome.”
“Jessie, I’ve asked social services to contact your parents.”
“What? Why?”
“They can help you.”
“With what?”
“You don't know this yet, but life isn't supposed to be like this. It's not supposed to be this hard. And your mom… she isn’t suppose to treat you this way.”
~~~
You were so extremely grateful when you were finally allowed to go home. It was late, so you were expecting your roommates to be asleep. When you entered the kitchen, you found Val frosting a cake.
“I thought you’d be asleep by now,” you commented, searching for food.
“Yeah, well, I’m not,” Val retorted. “If you wait a few minutes, you can have a piece of cake. Baked it chock-full of love. Actually, chock-full of unrelenting, all consuming rage and hostility, but it's still tasty.”
“So you know?”
“I know.”
“Well, do you want the long, sordid version, or do you want the short version, where I started sleeping with a guy who turned out to be my boss?”
“Neither.”
“Val, cut me some slack here.”
“No. You went to Dartmouth. Your parents— don’t get me started on that. I know you’re trying to hide who your parents are. But I know. You grew up— look at this house! You know, you walk into the OR, and there isn’t anyone who doubts that yo should be there. I… I grew up in a trailer park. I went to state school. I put myself through med school by posing in my underwear. You know, I walk into the OR, and everyone hopes I'm the nurse. Y-you have their respect without even trying, and you're throwing it away for...what? A few good surgeries?”
“No. It's not about the surgeries. It's not about getting ahead.”
“Then what? A little hot sex? You're willing to ruin your credibility over that? I mean, Y/N, what the hell are you doing?” You huffed, shaking your head. “Oh, my… you’re falling for him.”
“I am not.”
“Oh, you so are.”
“No, I’m not.”
“You so are. Damn it, you poor girl.”
“You know, it's just that he's just so… And I'm just… I'm having a hard time.”
"Wow, you're all, uh, mushy and… warm and full of secret feelings.” Val handed you a piece of cake.
“I hate you!” You snatched the cake from her. “And your cake.”
“My cake is good. So, um, how hot is the sex?”
“Val.”
“What? Come on, my girlfriend broke up with me, I’m not getting any. Help a girl out with a few details.”
~~~
Steve showed up at your door an hour later, exhausted as well. You two headed up to your bedroom. You were both on either side of the bed, pulling back the covers.
“You know,” Steve slurred, “we could just…”
“Sleep?” You finished.
“We could, yeah, if… if you want to.”
“Yeah?”
You both crawled into bed. You turned off the lamp beside you before cuddling into Steve’s side. He reached over and turned off the lamp at his side.
“I could get used to this,” you whispered, falling asleep.
