i don’t understand people complaining about the percy jackson show. yes things are different again, i know we’re all scarred from the movies. yes there are things that got cut. it’s a 400 page book condensed into 8ish hours of tv — things move quicker because we’re not in the characters heads anymore, and watching minutes and minutes of them puzzling through things would frankly be boring to watch. the things they HAVE changed, with medusa and hephaestus and all the nods to the gods being truly complex and terrible beings, is SO rich and fresh and exciting for people who have read the books 27 times over

just because it’s not a page for page adaptation doesn’t make it bad. you want the book story? read the book

the thing with bts is the genuine desire to have a connection with fans, and then becomes a very thin line between mutual understanding/ respect and entitlement

it’s also particularly the fault of the industry, and how they’ve built up the image of idols as a whole. and i understand that a lot of people see bts from a different stand point, and they have made their own criticism of the industry. but that doesn’t mean they haven’t been brought up with those same conditions, and i think a lot of maybe newer fans act as though bts are from a group that are treated like they’re beyond ‘perfect’, the ‘perfect’ idol (where i use the term perfect loosely because it’s stupid), which is unrealistic for anyone. it goes for dating, sexuality, sex in general. and that feeds into the entitlement that fans have, thinking that these people are these untouchable perfect humans that can never do any wrong while they also do all this fan service to feed into this really weird obsessive fantasy that they could one day be yours. which clashes but it’s part of the obsession for people

it’s like yoongi said, you see an idol smoking and everyone makes a big deal out of it, for what? especially when they are grown men, even grown women, who cares? at the end of the day, celebrity or not we’re all just flesh, organs, skin, water and like other gross humanly bodily things. even if they’re in the eye of the public, that doesn’t give people the right to invade anyone’s privacy or harass anyone they interact with, female or not

they’re adults. what they do isn’t my business beyond what they choose to share with me. they say we’re friends, and even if we go off that notion, never once have i felt this incessant need to know every little detail of my (in real life) friends’ lives. i listen when they share, and idk interact like kinda normal people. the same goes for bts and the relationship— in whichever form it holds between us

i chose to support them, they technically don’t owe me anything. their music and constant content and communication with us— on their own terms, is enough for me because i made the conscious decision to be a fan

wether they’re dating, smoking, fucking, everything else people wanna criticize them for, i could not care less. i’m happy where i stand as a fan 🕺 and as fans we have absolutely zero reason to try and dictate the lives of grown men
