New Concept

The higher ups of the Apollo Victoria train yard would definitely collaborate with certain hotels so guests can get a really interesting experience. They know Greaseball and Rusty are a big draw for tourists, so they would definitely want to cash in and probably offer an alternative to tours of the yard.

The hotels have exclusive access to the property of the train yards, offering a view in the train yard letting people watch the rolling stock, which could be a potential dream come true for train spotters or potential fans of Greaseball or Rusty as a whole. It will definitely be expensive, but worth it. Rusty is the most engaging with guests, often trying to play with them on the other side of the glass. Greaseball does enjoy the attention, but he’s not too interested in interacting with hotel guests, but if there are kids in the hotel room, expect to see Greaseball spending hours by the hotel room and basically becoming a teddy bear of a diesel. Greaseball loves to interact with the kids and is known to be gentle and rather protective over them, so kids are definitely going to have a blast, especially if Greaseball calls his gang over, cue a bunch of intimidating diesels becoming absolute softies towards the kids.

There are definitely options for free tours if the guests would prefer. The tour is essentially a VIP tour, which would cost extra without the hotel room booking, possibly allowing guests to potentially interact with the rolling stock, but it’s not exactly guaranteed as their schedules change frequently. Most of the tour guides are rolling stock handlers, people specifically trained to handle and monitor the rolling stock during events. Mike was one of the favored guides when Greaseball was given the day off, giving people a chance to ask Mike questions and if they’re lucky, interact with Greaseball himself.

im sorry but i cannot stop thinking about isha's pastel memories that play during her sacrifice scene.

look at how full of colour this beautiful fuckin shot is:

it's been well established in episodes 4-6 how grim and dark the undercity has become under cait and ambessa's new rule. but look at how isha sees/remembers it - because of jinx.

jinx, who went through a severe childhood trauma that has carried over into her present self - she covers extremely destructive weapons and grenades in bright pinks and blues, neons, childlike doodles, graffiti. (joy and destruction, powder and jinx, a contrast so striking it becomes like a signature for her).

and then we see the world through isha's eyes. when we meet her in episode 2, she's running through sewers, from goons dressed in black; it's grimy and grim. and then all of her recent memories are done in these childlike pastel, almost crayon-y sketches. because what isha saw was jinx covering a dark and grim world in colours.

and so isha covered her world in colour, too.

because jinx made her world bright.

isha looked at jinx and saw the child in her. she saw powder and she saw jinx. she saw joy and destruction. and that's why jinx gave isha so much hope. isha knew the world was grim and dark - but then she watched jinx, and she learned that you can paint over all that grim darkness with neon blue spray paint.

that's why isha believed in hope. that's why in her final moments - in a scene that is lit dimly and dramatically - she sees nothing but a bright world coloured in pastels.

As much as i love Dungeon Meshi, i do think that given Ryoko Kui's attention to realistic worldbuilding there ought to be a companion series called Dishes Meshi where they spend 2hrs washing and drying and packing away. Alll the goddamnfuck dishes they just made

Since this was the first volume, I tried out a few different drawings and had the editor and designer choose which ones they wanted, then made small adjustments. I personally liked the top-down draft, and the one of the cooking processes (back cover) the best. But looking back, I sincerely think it's good that we didn't go with those. (Kui)

I thought it might be cool to make the character Chilchuck darker in the foreground, and the background brighter! But it didn't quite work out the way I had imagined. I think it could have been a bit better. (Kui)

I remember that the overall shape of volume 4 came together very quickly. The character Senshi's hands didn't fit nicely, so I moved them backwards and to the side. (Kui)

I thought people might start to think "how many have I bought?" so I wanted to create a slightly different impression with this volume. I decided to put the character right in the center and try putting it together all in blue and green hues. (Kui)

With this in mind, I thought of how many volumes were left to go, and the number of characters, and decided to pair up the characters Namari and Shuroiro. In hindsight, it would have been fine to have them on one cover each. (Kui)

The image is of focus lines converging on the character Izutsumi. This is the kind of cover, with upside down characters, which I've always wanted to try once(?) I submitted it as a trial, thinking that at this point the cover wouldn't dramatically influence sales. However, in the end, we decided it would be better not to have it upside down. (Kui)

I tried blurring the mushrooms in the foreground, then I accidentally saved over it, and couldn't go back to the original. I remember apologizing that it was probably tacky, when I submitted it. (Kui)

I don't think snake meat is marbled at all, but if it has an unfamiliar look, people might not recognize it as meat… so I made it look like beef to make it easier to understand. (Kui)

I thought it might be interesting to have more than one of the main characters on the cover again, so I added the character Falin. I remember it wasn't badly received, but it still ended up just being Thistle on his own. (Kui)

I wanted this cover to be covered in shiny gold. After I finished it, it didn't have enough color, so I painted the tablecloth green, and it ended up looking like Christmas colors. (Kui)

Up to this point, the covers have featured one of the main characters holding cooking utensils in the foreground and a monster in the background, but I thought it might be interesting to reverse the format just before the final volume, so I drew this cover with that in mind. (Kui)

volume 13 was meant to be the final one, but it was too thick to be published as a single volume, so we decided to split it into two. The question of “so, what should I draw next!?" may be at the forefront of volume 13. (Kui)

I had decided that the final cover definitely needed to have everyone eating together on it, but because I was publishing two books at the same time I was pressed for time, and it was difficult to have a cover with so many characters on it. I also submitted a rough for an illustration that didn't need me to draw any crowds, but such obviously easy ideas are never adopted. (Kui)

I drew these based on the director's instruction "This kinds of pictures." I hardly ever have the chance to draw color illustrations, so it was a valuable experience for me. (Kui)

One of the bummers of being a super taster is how Big mold tastes. And because I can taste it before it’s actually sprouting I’m often disbelieved. Like, sorry restaurant. I know I’ve gotten this sandwich before and I know your cucumber is usually fresh, but today it’s moldy. I understand you can’t see the mold. But I swear. It’s there.

Tonight we had hot dogs and we picked up the buns today. Unfortunately neither of us realized the best by date was also today. The first bun I had was fine but I hit corruption midway down the second bun. I just ate the hotdog bun less, but we had to scrap the rest of the bag.

there is something absolutely hilarious about a Bruce who is somewhat new to Batman but entirely new to parenting being told he needs to "lead by example" by Alfred when it comes to Dick, and that somehow includes modeling eating vegetables at every dinner. except Bruce has been drinking fuck-ass protein-maxed smoothies for every meal for the last 1-2 years so he has to (awkwardly) eat his first piece of truly solid food in several months at the fancy dinner table, with Alfred serving everything, and with Dick sitting off to the side with wide eyes.

Bruce, delicately chewing on a single piece of broccoli he's speared to his fork: "Mhhhhm. See? Tasty, chum! Have some."

Dick: "You’re being weird."

Bruce, still chewing and trying desperately not to make a face: "What? Of course not. Alfred—"

Alfred, who knows Bruce will be paying for this later in the bathroom: "Perfectly normal, sir."

Just thinking about s4 but when Alpha!Eddie grabs Steve to shove the bottle against his neck, he doesn't realize Steve is an omega and accidentally scruffs him. And Steve is just boneless, kinda goes down. And Eddie isn't expecting deadweight and almost falls ontop of Steve but realizes what's happening (let's just say he's fought off a few bullies who scruffed members of his pack). He immediately drops the bottle and holds onto Steve, who tries to scent Eddie. Just shoves his face into Eddie's neck and nuzzles it, lets out a purr unintentionally.
