have any of the angels directly interacted with the metatron, even in heaven? ive seen a couple of posts asking how crowley and saraqael recognise the metatron, and why aziraphale and the others don't. seems like aziraphale recognises the metatron purely based on crowley's description-
Tumblr media
-as opposed to his memory being jogged, and him suddenly recognising the metatron for himself. as it is, we know that michael and uriel also do not recognise him without being told by aziraphale, so we can reliably deduct that there is some disconnect between the floating head 'true form' the metatron takes in heaven, and the humanoid form he's taking in the bookshop. aziraphale doesn't make the link, and neither do the archangels.
so why is crowley - and saraqael, if their nervous disposition when michael is chatting shit is anything to go by - able to recognise him in this form? how are they able to make the link between the true from, and this one? what is there to recognise?
i think that's potentially more the question - not why the others didn't recognise him, but instead why these two did. what is possibly in common between them, but not the others?
it might be that crowley recognises him by something other than sight (re: he can sense when aziraphale is on earth and when he isn't) but that again wouldn't make sense to me; why do the archangels not recognise him in the same way, from gabriel's trial that ostensibly only occurred a few days ago? unless it's a demon trait... but then that doesn't explain saraqael.
is it voice? unknown, possibly... but raises the same question of why the archangels and aziraphale didnt recognise him.
so idk, but my only thought/theory at this time is that it's linked to memory. as in; the physical capability of it. there may perhaps be something inherent about the metatron that ensures that angels can't remember him, or more specifically can't store the memory of him? or, alternatively, it's mandatory that after each interaction, this part of their memory is manually removed?
something that they wouldn't be able to do to crowley - a demon - or to saraqael because... well, someone seems to be in charge of erasing memories, right?

the scene at the end of who's there?: eiffel is cut off mid-sentence (addressing minkowski), minkowski calls his name twice, and hera says, "commander... he's not showing up on any of my scans. he's gone." vs. brave new world: eiffel is cut off mid-sentence (addressing hera), minkowski calls his name twice, and hera says, "he's... commander, he's gone." in idle hands, eiffel regaining his autonomy ("hera, it's me. i'm me again.") is described: "there's a SOFT WOOSH, and eiffel's eyes go from spaced out to sharp focus." in brave new world, eiffel losing his memory is described: "there's a SOFT WOOSH, and his eyes go glassy." in mayday, hera's voice is the last one eiffel hears, the last voice in his head trying to keep him from giving up when he's sure he's about to die. in brave new world, eiffel loses his memory mid-thought while addressing hera, and so she was his last memory, the last thing on his mind. whatever. whatever.

Jean’s got several sets of memories in her head.
A lot of them are legitimately hers — Redd’s memories, teen!Jean’s memories, Jeanix’s memories. (There are people who would claim that Jeanix is not the same person as Jean; I’m not one of them.) Integrating teen!Jean or Jeanix’s memories as her own would be difficult since she has defined herself as separate from them. Redd’s memories are less separate from herself, but it was a very strange time for her, so it probably requires some work to integrate.
Then she’s got the weird cosmic force memories, from the White Hot Room or from the fact that she is inextricable from Phoenix. Comic writers usually tend to ignore this one entirely, and I can’t say I blame them, but there’s at least an awareness of something there.
Maddy’s memories. She has Maddy’s memories up through Inferno. This is probably extremely weird. I expect she keeps them in a box.
Other people’s memories, just from being a telepath. Scott is probably the big one here, since she’s in his head the most, but I imagine that there’s some bleeding through of everybody’s memories. These probably resurface in that way that you’ll remember something very vaguely and then remember it happened in a movie instead of real life.
Any other lives that she was told were real. For example, the events of Age of X-Man (which she actually lived through) and whatever false backstory memories Nate Grey planted in her head about that time. This would also include the historical stuff that Mastermind made her believe.
Now, some of these, like the Age of X-Man ones, are gonna affect every member of the X-Men. And the other people’s memories one is gonna affect every telepath (and, famously, Rogue). So there’s a certain amount of memory weirdness that just comes with the territory of being a superhero.
What I find fascinating about Jean and memory is that she has so many different sets of memories to sort through. And either she’s very good at it and has a total handle on it, or she is simply repressing any doubts or fears or problems she has with it and pretending she has a handle on it.
I like to think that she has a pretty good handle on it but that things tend to be less tightly controlled when she’s asleep, and so she’ll get dreams of things that aren’t strictly hers. Dreams of events from when she was dead but she doesn’t know if the memories are from one of her teammates or if the Phoenix was watching. She dreams as Maddy probably a fair amount, as Maddy the pilot or occasionally as the Goblin Queen making a deal with a devil. She dreams Scott’s memories of Emma, and that’s probably screwed up in a hundred different ways. And it’s not that weird to dream things that never happened or that you didn’t see or to dream that you’re someone else, but it’s different when you know that so much of it is rooted in actual memory that is in your head but also not yours.

Laughing at the early banter between Wyll and Shadowheart where he asks if anyone has a sweetheart back home. Shadowheart says something along the lines of ‘waiting like a love sick puppy? No, I find short term amusements much less hassle’
Shadowheart. That is literally the biggest lie I’ve ever heard from you. After one kiss you were calling this whole thing a courtship. You told me two personal things about yourself and said you’ve never trusted another person more.

not started proper voyager watch yet but just reflecting that a consistent janeway trait ive observed is she always owns her shit. like if she made some decision (probably out of necessity) that's on some level heinous and is called on it she'll defend her reasoning but she never equivocates or minimizes or deflects anything she did. which is a respectable trait generally but in particular bc some of the things she's done are DIFFICULT TO FACE

I like thinking about young adult hunlow falling into a timepool and getting thrown back 4-5 years. They end up stumbling upon a younger Willow, who has not yet met Luz (or Hunter for that matter) and they try to lie to her but she figures it out because she is a clever little thing.
"Excuse me Miss Future Willow, is that--"
"I already told you I'm not you from the future. Stop saying that."
"Yes you are. I know you're lying because you're me and I'm also bad at lying. Now is....[discreetly points at Hunter who is standing a distance away] is he our boyfriend?"
"......Nnnnooooo....?"
"[tiny gasp] He is our boyfriend....[sparkly eyes]"

Wanna hear abt my idea for a “Randy gets stanked” episode? No? Then thats too dam bad
OK so how Randy gets stanked is him and Howard get into a MEGA bad argument and split up. Randy gets SUPER pissed and with like sadness, bitterness, anger and all that shit he gets stanked into some kind of multi armed black lizard thing.
During his rampage around the school he drops the ninja mask and who finds it than none other than Theresa, so she starts MEGA panicking cuz oh shit the ninjas mask is just on the ground and so she goes to the first person she could think of, Randy and Howard, but ofc just finds Howard. She explains her situation and Howard puts two and two together that Randy is the monster, and so he’s like well if the ninja is out of commission and I’m not really fit, why don’t YOU be the ninja. She at first is against it but seeing as Howard is like a ninja fan she falters.
Theresa tries fighting Randy by just mimicking the moves she’s seen the ninja do, buuut one small issue is that Randy already KNOWS all the moves and so he’s able to deflect them easily and even use them himself. Theresa is royaly screwed when Howard comes up to her and is like heeeeey I found this book on the ground u should tootaly look at it and then promptly shloomps her into the nomicon.
In there the nomicon gives her the lesson abt the weapon in the suit and once she vloomps out she manages to pull out of the suit a staff (idk if Randy ever used one in the show don’t come after me) and she promptly beats his ass. At this point she has out two and two together and understands the monster is Randy and that him and Howard had an argument. She makes Howard apologise to Randy and he does and woop de doo Randy is destanked.
So Randy is utterly confused cuz wtf that is the ninja but I’m the ninja and Theresa is like Do not worry, citizen I do not recognise! For u are safe, stink bomb! And smoke bombs away. After theresa gives Howard the ninja mask cuz she doesn’t want it and Howard explains to Randy what happened.
Thhheeeeeeeee end
