you can now vote to guarantee the first six pins that will unlock via Kickstarter.
#I’m not toooo worried bc Rosi’s Kickstarters do well and unlock the stretch goals#but I do in fact need yet another Storm pin so vote for her. for me.

love when a bunch of new people join a 20+ year old fandom and are like "erm nobodys talking about [issue thats been beaten to death every 6 months for the last two decades]" yeah yeah the issue we all know the issue. think of something new and innovative to say.
#At this point there are very few things left to say about Christopher and/or the mutant metaphor#no hate to new fans obviously they can’t know#but like. I’m not paying attention to that anymore <3

Like the PROBLEM that they have in that scene is that they’re in totally different headspaces about what’s going on. Clark thinks he’s having a fight with his girlfriend and Lois thinks she’s doing a no-holds-barred interview with one of the most powerful figures in the world. And the Clark we see in this movie is very honest and is having a hard time figuring out how to switch into a less blunt and more media savvy state, especially when they’re doing the interview in her apartment! Whereas Lois’s naturally suspicious nature and tendency to interrogate everything around her makes her switch into investigative journalist mode even when maybe she should’ve taken the time and space to talk to her boyfriend.
The scene where Lois is interviewing Superman is a scene where Lois is getting the space to ask the questions that the world has been asking and demand that he answer them. Which is her job. Because she’s a reporter. It doesn’t mean that Lois necessarily thinks he was in the wrong. It means she thinks that someone who has the power to do those things should be able to explain why they did them.

Obsessed with the Cairo era of Ororo’s life bc it goes so much against the initial image we have of her. She thinks the snow in New York is dirty, she hates being caged, she’s been isolated from other people for a long time. And then we learn that she lived in a city of millions of people, that she’s more adept with technology than most of her teammates, and that she stole to survive. She’s so cool, and I love her so much.

your post about 2 modes of reading comics reminds me of that thing you said a while ago about how it’s important for college students to develop the skills of reading for the information they need without reading the whole book. the ppl on that poll who are aghast at the idea of skimming thru a comic just for certain characters simply don’t understand our scholarly manner of interacting with the text 🧐
okay i don't remember saying that thing about college students but i believe you, it certainly sounds like me
and YES we are using our deeply important skill of SKIMMING to acquire new information and deepen our academic understanding! of the comic books

reading comic books provides you with a level of tolerance for not knowing what the fuck someone is talking about and pressing on anyway that is absolutely invaluable to the humanities actually
