Today on BnHA: The Big 3 and Aoyama are OUT. Shinsou is IN. The Tododrama is PENDING, and the mysterious figure in the shadows is UNIDENTIFIED. Also class 1-A finally becomes class 2-A and it only took them 425 chapters and TEN LONG YEARS. Can you imagine if this series had actually run throughout their high school experience like people once expected. “THE YEAR IS 2044 AND MY HERO ACADEMIA IS FINALLY WINDING TO A CLOSE.” There’s an alternate universe somewhere where this actually happened and we were all so very, very tired.

Kacchan watched that YouTube video about a dozen times until he managed to tie his tie all on his own with the one hand. and he did an amazing job. he’s such a model citizen now

also it looks to me like he has his right arm hidden in a sling underneath his shirt, which is interesting. if I’m not mistaken (and I very well could be, since it’s been a hot minute since I did any BnHA timeline math), the final battle took place sometime in early May, so this chapter is taking place roughly one month later. the hospital chapter took place about a week after the battle, so it’s been about 3-4 weeks since then. I really want to know what kind of shape Kacchan’s arm is in, but I guess Horikoshi will get to it when he gets to it

also, “we all gotta be together today” was a real wakeup call to me in that it gave me just an absolutely ridiculous amount of feels. just a totally unreasonable amount. and it’s like. listen, self. Kacchan has completed his character growth arc. he’s a team player and a leader who loves all his friends and they all love him in return. we’ve known this for years now. it’s an established fact. you can’t keep bursting into tears or whatever every time he shows it. this is no way to live your life. I need an intervention

anyways later this evening class 2-A is gonna have a celebratory movie night in the common room, and Kacchan is gonna fall asleep two minutes in peacefully surrounded by all his classmates, and they’re all gonna nudge each other and smile fondly and cover him with a blanket and stay up until 2am and Aizawa will have no mercy on them the following morning. it’s gonna be so wholesome you guys

and that had to have been traumatic for them. their friend literally died and was just lying there so still for so long afterwards. and him getting better and going back to his usual asskicking self later on doesn't just erase those memories, you know? especially with him having lasting, permanent damage afterward. not just his arm, even! like who even knows if his heart is going to be okay long term. when people get organ transplants they have to go on immunosuppressants afterwards because otherwise their body will try to attack the replacement organ. so I wonder how exactly it works when it's still your heart, but it's being held together by various bits and pieces of a spindly little floss man. idk, but I bet you it's still pretty rough.

anyway so long story short, I'm now reading this as one-third bemused awe, one-third joking antagonism, and one-third genuine "no seriously, is it okay for you to be here, please don't do anything to put your health at risk because we seriously cannot handle you dying on us again." and Kacchan's not even disagreeing with him lol, which has to be the most concerning thing of all. "they said it's okay if I rest." even he knows he's pushing it, but it was too important of an occasion to miss. anyway please take it easy kiddo.)

Aoyama leaving makes me sad but it makes total sense for his character after what he’s been through. he needs time to sort things out and continue down his own personal honor-regaining journey. respect

also glad to hear that it was his own choice and that both Rat Principal and Nao would have supported him if he stayed. I still to this day do not understand Naomasa’s actual level of authority lol. like, he’s supposedly a detective, and yet he seems to be personally in charge of every single important police operation, on like a national level. and he has the authority to make decisions like letting Aoyama go free. he is the law, literally

Aoyama trying to feed Deku some farewell cheese also took me out. like he just walked in there and was all “sorry everyone, I’m leaving, but I’ll still aim for the path of a hero and will one day return, don’t you worry!” and at some point in the midst of this tearful speech he made a beeline directly to Izuku and tried to give him some cheese that he apparently just had in his pocket or something. and Izuku was all “YEAH!” all solemnly but HE DIDN’T EVEN TOUCH THAT POCKET CHEESE. like he loves you and accepts you for who you are Yuuga but COME ON

at this point in the chapter it also became clear to me that Aizawa has his hair up in some sort of loosely assembled messy bun and that’s why it looks so especially flowing and gorgeous today. this is great cinema

and then AT LONG LAST, the admission of Shinsou into class 2-A. they tried everything they could to keep him out, BUT NOT EVEN THE END OF THE WORLD COULD STOP HIM. his rightful place

Ojiro’s scandalized response to hearing Fuwa refer to Aizawa as “Era-sen”, and then Fuwa subsequently revealing all of Aizawa’s secrets and Aizawa getting flustered and kicking her out, was one of the most delightful sequences I’ve read. “nooooo don’t tell them that, what the hell am I gonna threaten them with now”

Izuku has not even attempted to crack a smile since the final battle, aside from when he was frantically trying to reassure Kacchan in the hospital. I’m worried about him but also loving this a little bit, ngl. I am content to wait for you to eventually have a proper breakdown, mister Greatest Hero

also I singled him out on the whole not-smiling thing, but really this is true for just about all of them. my heart aches :(

were there really so many people freaking out over Izuku’s hair that Horikoshi felt compelled to throw in that “HEY DEKU-KUN, YOU SHAVED YOUR HAIR LIKE THAT DUE TO AN INJURY, RIGHT? BUT IT’LL GROW BACK, RIGHT!?” line in there lol. the hilarious thing is that this chapter was already in the books before 424 was released, so it means that Horikoshi anticipated the backlash ahead of time. the man knows his audience

I HAVE NO DUNGEON, AND I MUST TROLL!: Yosuke has a personal blog- very personal- that starts getting hate from one anonymous Souji. this fic is unique for presenting the lj/comments true to life and there's a lovely floaty style to the offline sections; this fic is also an interesting look into Jerkji, who we don't see often in fan characterization anymore [warnings for manipulative!Souji; eating disorders (adjacent); dubcon; suicidal actions]

and finally Sympathy Crime even though pretty much everyone already knows about it AKA the fic where Adachi manipulates Yosuke into a relationship and it takes a tole on the investigation. heed the warnings of abuse, rape, torture, and suicidal thoughts/attempts seriously as the fic goes in depth to depict these, the horrifying effects, and then recovery. It does not pull any punches. The fic really understands how anyone can be susceptible to abuse and how important a support system/lack thereof is. It is incredibly well written- and that is in part because it has a message about horrendous acts of abuse. Additionally, it's a 200k+ (i think) word read so it is A Lot. Sympathy Crime is 100% not for everyone, but if you think you can tolerate reading the subject matter, there is a reason why this is a monolithic fic in P4 fandom history

My Thoughts on "Holy Flying Circus" (2011) + my fave moments from the film!

Just gotta say.....HFC was pretty great! It was funny and moving and crazy and I ABSOLUTELY ADORE IT!! 10000/10 imo, would recommend!

Any uhh here's my fave things/moments/quotes from HFC that I loved when watching it! :

-The animation sequences are pretty cool, huge props and shout-out to the team for recreating the Gilliam-esque animated sequences!

-Tom Fisher as Graham Chapman was pretty much the MVP of this film, I love his surreal yet pretty funny wiseness that he gives the other Pythons and every scene he was in, even for a few minutes of screen time, was pretty much GOATED ASF!! Would've loved to have seen more scenes of Fisher's Graham Chapman, but for every moment he was in, he absolutely chewed, nay, MUNCHED on that scenery with absolutely deLIGHT!!

-Phil Nichol as Terry Gilliam was pretty hilarious actually ngl! Nichol's portrayal really nailed down Gilliam's crazy and chaotic little goblin-like vibes, and I absolutely love Nichol's voice he did for Gilliam, it's very adorable imo 🥰

-I like the scene in the movie where the Pythons are at the pub, and John, Michael, Terry, Jonesy & Eric are drinking alcohol/beer 🍻, whereas Gray's the only one drinking orange juice 🍊. Idk, it's a nice little detail I noticed and I appreciate it being included in the film as it refers to Gray's alcohol intervention and that's he's really over the alcohol for the better and for the good of his health. It's a nice and lovely moment ❤️

♡ JAN REVIEWS うみねこのなく頃に～Stage of the Golden Witch～EPISODE 1 ♡

! SPOILERS AHEAD FOR UMINEKO NAKU KORO NI EPISODE ONE !

Hi y'all! I recently watched the Shingidan Mumei Classics production of うみねこのなく頃に～Stage of the golden Witch～EP 1 through the widely available english subbed version on Internet Archive and I am in love with this theatre company!! The amount of love they put into this production and undoubtedly the other episodes as well is absolutely insane. Insane enough that I had to sit down and write a review of it on my newly created tumblr account.

As a bit of background, I am a longtime fan of Umineko. I first watched the anime in 2014-2015 and started the visual novel shortly after. Since then I waxed and waned in consumption of Umineko media and while I still loved it and it was definitely comfort media for me (which is a separate thing we can talk abt later) other things took precedence in my fandom culture media munching journey. THAT IS, until I watched the first episode of this god dang Umineko stage play and it murdered my entire family in a plethora of predetermined ways scribed out in my grandpa's inheritance epitaph /pos and I'm gonna tell you about it!

Visually, it is a stunning recreation of the visuals on the iconic Ushiromiya family island, Rokkenjima. Every scene is skillfully recreated by the production team, the stage consisted of a multilevel facade with a turntable center stage and a scrim that they would use for various effects (Kinzos study door, the rose garden shutter, etc). Every part of the stage was utilized in a way that actively took me to the different parts of the island with each scene. The rose garden was a beautiful lush maze, The mansion felt as ominous and looming as it did in the VN and scenes like Battler's first interaction with Beatrice's portrait had an extra bit of impact to me. Something about seeing all of the characters as real people being absolutely towered over by this oppressive portrait of the golden witch was extremely evocative and powerful. The costumes were all extremely faithful recreations of the characters designs from the VN with minor changes and touches to suit the real humans wearing them. Seeing the whole Ushiromiya family realized by such a talented and well cast ensemble was so so so special to me, I kind of teared up during the scene where they all are initially walking through the rose garden ngl. All of the actors looked like they stepped through the screen and out to the stage; a true testament to their ability and commitment to this absolutely wild story and the costuming team's expertise. (and it just the first episode, WHICH IS SOSOSOSOSOOS EXCITIGN TO ME BC SOME OF THESE CHARACTERS AND DESIGNS IN LATER EPISODES R BATSHIT CRAZY) ahem srry- anyway!~

The performances were all absolutely amazing, I truly believe that every single actor inhabited their character in a way that was a surreal display of talent. It truly felt like I was watching real people on stage, which is no easy feat for the kinds of extravagantly pompous and cruel characters within the Ushiromiya family. I often get distracted by an actor's lack of commitment in work where the circumstances are a lot more grounded in reality, I was honestly astounded by every single member of the cast at different points and at no point did I not believe any person's character choices.  

I selfishly have to call out the actresses behind Ushiromiya Eva and Ushiromiya Natsuhi first, Juri Hirayu and Suzu Maihara respectively. Eva and Natsuhi are two of my favorite characters in the VN and to see their showdown in the parlor during the initial meeting with Krauss about Kinzo’s moolah was so intense and crazy. Hirayu-san’s Eva was the perfect charming instigator, so much of what I loved about her portrayal in the VN was in Hirayu-san’s performance but she also took the character to new heights beyond the text, which is exactly the kind of performance Ryukishi07’s writing deserves! The same praise goes to Maihara-san’s Natsuhi, who moments later takes us into the depths of Natsuhi’s melodramatic despair in a way that makes her feel so human. As somebody who experiences issues with maintaining emotional stability and is constantly surrounded by familial triggers her performance rings home in a way that makes my heart break every time hers does. Both actresses are brilliant, I cannot emphasize that enough oh my freaking gosh. 

Erina Abe’s Maria Ushiromiya was so enlightening for me in terms of seeing her character. Maria has always been one of my favorite characters as somebody who longs to mother that poor child correctly and Abe-san’s ability to go from that cute child to a scary intense figure was amazing for an actor of her age. To hear Maria’s vocal stims coming from an actual child and to see her subsequent punishment for said stims by her mother, Rosa Ushiromiya who is played by Kyouko Namekawa, is a heartbreaking display of cruelty that both actors perform with a scary amount of commitment. Maria and Rosa are two very intense and complicated characters that were pulled off masterfully by the duo. It makes me so happy seeing the behind the scenes materials of all of the actors having fun together after watching them be subjected to the horrors for hours. 

Koutarou Ito as George Ushiromiya and MIO as Shannon were also two standouts. The engagement scene between George and Shannon followed by the Hideyoshi and George segment during the first twilight’s murders was so horrifying to see realized on stage. Every character truly bitterly shines during the first twilight, they are pushed to the rawest parts of their dynamics with each other when faced with the gruesome murders of their parents and other loved ones. It felt as though Hina Aoki, Koutarou Itou, and Bishin Kawasumi were real cousins with real history with one another as they grieved over their simultaneous losses. There were so many moments when watching the stage play where the surreal campy anime murders of the scenes had a, while still decidedly campy portrayal, a more then real groundedness and believability within their world they created. In some golden moments, the heightened Umineko facade fades away and I’m able to feel the profundity of their various and sordid losses even more deeply than the same scenes in the VN imo. I am also a gay theatre nerd so things that are stage musical/play/anime/anythingstageadaptationy hit in a particularly nice place in my brain. 

All in all うみねこのなく頃に～Stage of the golden Witch～EP 1 is brilliant, I give it ten conveniently dead family members which just also happens to be v convenient inheritance wise for some OTHER family members maybe hmm… out of ten!!!  and Shingidan Mumei Classics is brilliant, please support their work and follow them on their various social media accounts! I love to see independent theatre that has so so so much heart and drive behind it. It is why I helped start my own theatre company, The Dunwich Dolls, and it’s why I continue doing theatre today.

TW: TTI (troubled teen industry) treatment mentions along with brief mentions of abuse/addiction/SA

TDLR: I think the TTI treatment facilities I was locked up in for years of my childhood forcefully disconnected me from my wolf because I was literally in a medical cage as a “human” guinea pig. And I didn’t connect those dots till very recently.

Idek where to start this, word this, or express what I need to express; so please bear with me with.

My mother shipped me off to a residential treatment center in Montana cause she wanted to continue her drug and alcohol addiction at the time. (Ironically today she’s 6 years sober, I’m 22 for timeline context) I was 13 years old. This was my first placement and I was there for a year total. Spent my 14th birthday locked up. I had one pass to the outside world that whole entire time. I will say this was the “least” traumatic placement I was in, but I was also literally SAed by a male nurse there along with this program also incorporated wilderness therapy, which I don’t wanna specify to much. After I FINALLY “graduated” that “program” I was shipped to a “step down facility”before I could be considered stable enough to go home. I was in this facility for about 8-10 months total before I lost my fucking mind and did some stuff I’m not proud of to get forcefully kicked out. But I genuinely didn’t know what else to do. I also didn’t have any parental contact during this time, and even at the second placement I hadn’t seen my mom at all, not once. No visits. After I got kicked out of that program I was sent to another where I was there for about 5-6 months. The last two programs I were in absolutely ruined my mind and my life. I felt like a Guiana pig being poked, prodded, restrained, sedated, treated like I’m a waste of space and a burden, overly medicated and more things ngl. I literally was in a CAGE. They had me on 900mg of Seroquel, the legal max for an adult (in the us) is 800mg and 600mg for kids. ✨ There’s so much more but this is genuinely so hard to talk about, I’m sorry if this makes no sense.

After I got back to the outs after the last treatment center I didn’t even feel real, and definitely not human. I felt numb, surreal and angry. I was in a constant state of survival mode; disassociation to survive; as my mom was still on drugs and alcohol when I got out. And I def have PTSD from those places, but with my self discovery journey as of late. It made me realize I believe that’s when the start of my broken connection formed. I was forcefully disconnected from everything, including humanity, for 2.5 years straight. And I didn’t know how to exist without that disconnection cause of how forced it was for so long. Ffs I still have severe time anxiety and will have a panic attack if I can’t figure out the time immediately cause the only thing that kept my sanity those years was the clock and the time.

Long story short, coming to terms with some of my trauma has made a gigantic connect the dots to my wolfishness. And it’s terrifying and validating, makes me scared and excited, but also makes me feel thankful that I’ve always been me no matter how hard everyone tried to beat it out of me or treat it out of me. I will always, ALWAYS, ALWAYS BE A FUCKING WOLF.

And I’m not ashamed to say I always have been anymore.

Hi!! What are your thoughts on a hypothetical Graham Chapman biopic, starring Tom Fisher (as Graham)?

Ooooh this is a cool ASF question frfr!! Thank you for the ask @knoxoverstreet16 !!

Obviously, Tom Fisher as Graham was absolutely great in “Holy Flying Circus” (2011), everything from his jackets to his gay quotes to his wiseness and gayness in general was just….ABSOLUTELY PERFECTO *mwah* and in short his portrayal was and is absolutely amazing!!

Now, a biopic starring Tom as Graham? That’d be unironically a MASTERPIECE FOR. REAL.

Personally, I think Tom Fisher would honestly be an awesome pick as Graham, especially for a hypothetical biopic! Especially the fact that Tom can bring that vulnerability to some of his characters really really well fr, and I think he’d bring the emotional pathos of Graham exceptionally for sure!! I’d fr recommend you go watch this lil indie film starring Tom (in the main role ofc) called “Treacle Jr” (2010), as he’s absolutely great in that fr, as well as the fact that his character in that film really brings that vulnerability and emotional pathos, and ngl Tom’s character in TJ does remind me of Brian Cohen from “Life of Brian” (1979) in a way too (idk why but Tom’s character in TJ deffo has “Brian Cohen” vibes frfr) ! The whole film’s on YouTube so do check it out!

Ok, so in terms of how the hypothetical biopic starring Tom Fisher as Gray would be like? Mmmmm…..if we are to assume that it’d be a (mostly) live action film with some animation bits in there (aka a live action/animated hybrid film), then it’d be fr interesting! I’m thinking it could be like the Elton John biopic “Rocketman” (2019) in a way, where in that it is a fantastical reimagining of Elton John’s life (with some musical numbers ofc), and I can see the hypothetical Tom Fisher/Gray biopic going along that route!

Idk why, maybe it’s because I really love the animated biopic “A Liar’s Autobiography” (2012) (aka the animated biopic about Graham), but I think a surreal animated film (or in the case of the hypothetical Tom Fisher/Gray biopic, a live action/animated hybrid film) deffo fits with Graham’s vibes a lot more than if it was a traditional and conventional biopic (in which Graham was neither traditional nor conventional lol) as Graham was truly bonkers and wacky which was disguised under the fact that he mostly played the “straight” (badum tush) roles, aka he played the somewhat more “normal” character roles compared to the other Pythons most of the time, with some exceptions here and there ofc. Oh and also, despite playing the “straight” leading man, Graham was, ironically, NOT straight (he was a gay-leaning bisexual ofc). I think it would be further interesting if the biopic had a live action Tom Fisher/Gray intersect with the animated people of the scene(s) or smth like that? Like the bridge between reality and (animated) fantasy becomes more and more thinner and blurred by the minute, ya’know?

Anyway uhh tangent over, what was I talking about? Oh yes yes ofc, the hypothetical Tom Fisher/Gray biopic!!

Another thing that I think would be interesting in the hypothetical biopic would be Tom Fisher/Gray breaking the 4th Wall and talking directly to the audience (maybe in a sorta “Fleabag”-style 4th Wall breaking kinda way?) and there’s some characters in the film who are like “Gray….who the hell are you talking to?” and Tom Fisher/Gray is like “oh uhh…I’m talking to the ceiling” or smth like that, with Tom Fisher/Gray acknowledging that “it’s hard to talk with you when other people start noticing that I’m talking with you, ya’know?” or smth like that!

Some more things that would be interesting in the hypothetical biopic :

-It would be cool seeing Tom Fisher/Gray in Graham’s outfits from the different decades (like the 1960s, early-mid 70s, early-mid-late 80s, etc!)

-If David Sherlock (Graham’s partner and technically husband really) were in the biopic, then I’d think Peter Sandys-Clarke would great as David fr! Because yes. (Also they both look so so similar fr ngl)

-Tom Fisher/Gray singing “Medical Love Song” would unironically be awesome actually, fr.

-Also, ofc it obviously has to be unambiguously, UNAPOLOGETICALLY gay/queer AS FUCK. It’s what Gray would’ve wanted ofc <33

-ALSO also, it has to be in bad taste (by that I mean “good bad taste” not “Jesus Christ this is so horrifically homophobic and unnecessarily cruel and mean to Graham wtaf were they doing??!!???! bad taste”, as in “bad taste” like what Graham would’ve wanted it to be <33 as he is ofc “The Prince of Bad Taste” 😉)

Ngl the concept of actual blogging and active posting is absolutely surreal for me, it is still surprising to me that when people take a break from posting they inform their followers about it? And tell them that they will come back with a lot of fandom content afterwards? The automatic assumption that somebody is looking forward to see your new posts/new art is something that is hard for me to grasp 🤔

Like I wouldn’t assume someone is looking forward to my new art posts or roughly would notice my posting absence?
