Oh yeah so they are! I was mostly thinking about exotic pet care guides, which (due to reptile YouTubers) I suspect may be the primary way people find out about snakes and other less-appreciated species. They do have a tendency to blur the lines between âcommon, not endangered, native to [local region]â and âuncommon, at risk from poaching, native to [far away region]â? At least, the guides Iâve seen usually only mention foods other than rodents if the snake might have difficulty recognizing frozen/thawed rodents as food.
The conflict between âreptile YouTube spreads awareness and appreciation for species people typically consider to be distastefulâ and âyeah but their information is often inaccurate and the husbandry is poor 90% of the time so is the appreciation worth itâ, I guess
âŚ.though now Iâm wondering if my ball python would like an egg as a treat, they eat a lot of birds in the wild and Iâd be surprised if they didnât eat the eggs too. guess Iâll do some research lol, chicken eggs *are* pretty big so they might not be safe, but maybe quailâŚ
This is a gentle reminder to those who keep poultry to PLEASE keep in mind wild snakes if you are using fake eggs in your chicken coop. Snakes are incapable of digesting the wooden/plastic/ceramic fake eggs that are commonly placed in chicken coops to train hens. Snakes (like this little ratsnake here) can and often do eat these fake eggs and suffer life-threatening obstruction as a result!
If you need to use fake eggs in your coop please strive to ensure that the enclosure is snake-proof (difficult) or superglue 3 or more eggs together so that snakes cannot consume them and become obstructed.
#snakes are really cool you guys#but also maybe double check the regions#and also animals in the wild invariably have behaviour a thousand times more varied than those in captivity#imo itâs the responsibility of any pet owner to provide an environment where the animal can do as many of those behaviours as possible#and also make sure the animal is being sourced in a way that doesnât hurt the wild population#bc like. I actually think many good things come out of the exotic pet trade?#having thousands of eyes on a species means weâre going to learn things that would never have been possible to discover otherwise#and also letâs be real here habitat loss and climate change hurts the wild populations a thousand times more than the pet trade#so live capturing is more the icing on the cake/another small stressor on top of all the ones theyâre already having a hard time with#rather than THE one danger to wild species#(live capture for the pet trade that is)#but still like. pets should be a two way street.#trade offer: âyou get [enjoyment of animal]: animal receives [safe environment with no predators and consistent access to food]#if the animal is gonna be stuck in a drawer and doesnât have opportunity to perform natural behaviours and not all of itâs daily needs met#then it isnât getting anything from the bargain and thatâs just like. unfair.#which is why I generally advocate for keeping species that (in the wild) are already frequently found around human habitation#(like my mourning geckos which have a really wide range and are frequently just straight-up found in houses)#or that you can be absolutely positive youâre able to keep in a situation thatâs a close enough facsimile to wild#that they can perform the vast majority of their natural behaviours#(which should also be a goal for the common species)#âŚ.and like. Im including cats/Guinea pigs/rabbits/dogs in this#bc they ALSO have a lot of care requirements that are often not met even though theyâre domesticated#âŚ.and for that matter humans too actually#humans in âthe wildâ are highly social tenacious semi-arboreal problem solvers that alter their landscapes heavily to suit their needs#the current trend of keeping them in 10x10x8 boxes and making them interact with hundreds of strangers every day#and not letting them manipulate their environment unless they âown itâ#is just straight-up inhumane! they should have everyday climbing opportunities and more predictable social structures and more enrichment#how do you know they wouldnât use it if you donât give them the OPPORTUNITY to use it#âŚ..anyway yeah#âŚâŚI may have opinions on this

You may have answered this before elsewhere, but I saw your ask about the Fablemans and as a film fan I'm genuinely curious. Why is it wrong to use a primate animal actor when other types of animal actors are used? I understand that a video on the internet is potentially exploitative. But animal actors are supposed to be handled by experts and treated humanely. There's at least supposed to be a regulatory system there. Plus, I would think it would be better to use a real practical animal for believability/interaction (and they'd probably unfortunately be treated better than CG people who aren't unionized. Though animatronics could possibly have been used.) Especially in an age where practical effects seem to be a dying art partly due to that last reason. So as long as it can be done safely and humanely for all involved, why not hire an animal actor primate rather than fake it?
Thank you in advance and love your blog!
The problem with primate animal "actors" is that there is no way for it to be done safely and humanely. Animal actors that are horses, dogs, rats, etc. are fine because domesticated species have symbiotic relationships with people that allow us to work together in a way that works for everyone involved. In fact, acting can act as enrichment for some animals. I would even say that some non-domesticated animals could serve roles in film and television provided their role was basically just existing on camera, but at this point it probably makes more sense to use CGI. This is long, so I'll break it down.
Primates in Human Situations
Primates are not, and will likely never be, domesticated. They are very intelligent and caring for them properly means replicating their lives in the wild as closely as possible and above all, prioritizing relationships with other members of their species. In all the primate welfare research I have done, one thing I have consistently heard is that the best thing for a primate is another of their species. Social bonds are critically important for them and even very traumatized primates can become much better adjusted and confident just by having a mate. Removing a primate from their family/social group, unless done for the necessary health and well being of the primate, is unethical and cruel. Primate actors are taken from their mothers as infants to be raised by trainers so that they imprint on people and exhibit "desirable" behaviours and are trainable. While they may interact with others of their species if the trainer has several, they are raised and taught to prioritize humans to an unhealthy degree.
Additionally, imprinting on humans makes it more difficult for primates to form relationships with their own kind. We have talked before about how different primate and human body language and communication is, and primate actors are very used to exhibiting certain behaviours, doing tricks, and acting in specific ways to get approval and treats. This leaves them unprepared for natural inner-species interactions and can prevent the forming of meaningful relationships. Even a very well cared for and humanely treated primate actor is essentially losing the ability to form meaningful close relationships with their own kind, including intimate partnerships, which will impact their life even long after retirement from the spotlight. It's unfair to deny a primate the ability and opportunity to bond with others for human entertainment.
Retiring Primate Actors
While some species of primates have longer careers than others, the vast majority of primate actors including all apes will have to be retired when they reach adolescence. Puberty is difficult enough for humans, but for a primate it poses risks as increased aggression, becoming territorial, and sexual development can be dangerous. Primates raised to perform will behave instinctively even when trained not to, and the added stress of becoming incompatible with the only environment they have ever known can be traumatic. Many primates raised by people as pets or in show business develop strong attachments to their owners/trainers that cause them to become aggressive to others that are close to them, and will present sexually to the owner/trainer. Of course, this is a problem for everyone involved, and being sexually rejected can lead some primates to become extremely frustrated, upset, and even self harm.
As such, most primate actors do not have careers into adulthood and have to be replaced by younger counterparts. This creates a cycle of captive breeding where infants are taken from their mothers to be raised by humans, become attached and learn human behaviours, become alienated from humans in adolescence, and are retired in young adulthood with no way to connect with their peers. Even in a best case scenario where the owner/trainer is incredibly knowledgeable and humane, the animal suffers.
For those that do not retire at adolescence, things are not much better as they have a life filled with stressful situations and unpredictable days where they cannot act on instinct. Primate trainer/owners have to keep their animals from behaving "inappropriately" around others, so add to that a life of not being able to choose when/where to defecate, not being able to masturbate or groom the pelvic area, and risking getting in trouble (even if it is only social disapproval) for exhibiting natural instinctual behaviour.
Humans on Set
So far I've focused on the primate actor, but the other actors are important too: the humans that inevitably come into contact with the primate actor on and off screen. Non-human primates are not built for on set environments-- frankly humans aren't either-- but we are able to understand what is happening and have a choice as to whether we participate in stressful and noisy filming environments. Primate actors are not given a choice and are brought into unpredictable and stressful situations without being able to understand what is happening or why. In a best case scenario the animal is brought on set for as short a period as time as possible and accommodations are made to make it calm and comfortable, the animal is put in costume, does the scene, and is given a treat and returned home. Not only does this rarely happen, but even when it does the environment is still one that has a lot of variables that are difficult to control.
Primates are easily stressed, and stress can cause aggression, which can be unsafe for the humans involved. Even in as controlled a set as possible, things can still happen. A monkey on an actors shoulder can get curious about an earring and rip it out, get tangled in a costume and lash out, get a drop of water on it and become extremely upset. We have previously discussed the Pirates of the Caribbean film franchise, in which a capuchin actor became agitated backstage and mauled a makeup artist who needed surgery to have her earlobe re-attached. It is unfair for the primate, but also unfair to everyone else working on the set to have to account for the possibility of being hurt by an animal operating on human training but wild instincts.
Regulation and Protection
While this is all written in best possible faith, the truth is that the actual treatment of animal actors varies. While there are permits required to own primates as performers and it is not legal to keep them as pets in California, there will be incidents and animals that will slip through the cracks especially when money is involved. I too do not trust studios to treat human workers humanely, and animals are even more vulnerable despite the legal measures and persons involved in ensuring they are treated well. At the end of the day, there is no reason that a primate needs to be an actor. CGI (preferably by unionized, well treated workers) should replace all primate actors so that they can live their own lives. The one exception I make is for projects such as Zoboomafoo, where the primate is unobtrusively filmed expressing natural behaviours in its own environment.

âIâm just a musical prostituteâ - Lain, as Freddy Mercury
Silenusâ funeral raged from one night until the next, the world tree flooded the controlled space with an atmosphere unique to the satyrâs design. Energised and fulfilled with an inherent revelry, the attendees continued to partake, perform, and enjoy all that Hyrsam had laid out for them.
Unicorns trotted through the streets for the first time in ages, gryphons claimed the skies as the creatures of the feywilds adorned the beasts of both mundane and supernatural nature with adorable little outfits. Fey wine overflowed from cups as the kitchens bustled to keep up with the demand for food alive, the dancing never ceased and while the actors continued to perform for the pleasure of the guests, the clowns and animals of the show all put their best hooves and honks forward.
Music sank into the hearts of the people, soon the seeds took root and sprouted as those attending Silenusâ funeral began to unexpectedly burst into song. The music their hearts produced were products of their truest feelings or their darkest secrets, some were original compositions, while others were taken from pop culture. All were accompanied by spontaneous backup dancers and musical accompaniment, sometimes in the form of fey creatures like satyrs, nymphs, pixies, changelings, and eladrins - but often they went hand in hand with other attendees. Under normal circumstances explaining this behaviour would have been impossible, but no rehearsals ever occurred and never seemed necessary. Even the most tone deaf or uncoordinated of funeral-goers were suddenly on par with industry professionals.
For the vast majority of Romans this behaviour was completely out of character but at no point did anybody even question it, truthfully it didnât really seem like anyone realised that these things were anywhere beyond the realm of questionable or strange. When the backup performers were done assisting, they would just return to their conversations, slip back into whatever they were doing, or disappear entirely as if theyâd only been there to fill in extra spaces.
Rome, in every sense, had been turned into a giant musical.
ooc info:
All funeral attendees are now compelled to sing about their heartâs true feelings, whatever they may be. This may be them admitting dark secrets they donât want anyone to know, professing deep admiration, confessing their love, their hatred, or any strong feelings either way.
If they run out of important things to sing about, the importance of what they're singing about goes down.
No one can question the bizarreness of this situation.
Hyrsam has gone missing.
The event will go until August 30th, the wrap-up will be posted then. (I know itâs in the middle of the week, ugh gross, but thatâs wolfinâ time).
Backup performers and vocalists can be gathered from anywhere, players are encouraged to incorporate other peopleâs muses as extras for the performances of their lives.

NPD's name is like. stigmatising and everything but like. the reason for the stigma behind it is that it's a mental illness. and mental illnesses are just broadly stigmatised.
like even if they changed the name. the stigma would always be there.
bc like it's there for borderline, and that name isn't stigmatising at all, yk.
like don't get me wrong the name sucks bad. but like the big things i see are "don't use narcissist to label people! it's stigmatising to mental illness!" and "the name narcissistic personality disorder is inherently stigmatising and it needs a different name," or, more broadly, "the name narcissistic personality disorder proves the stigmatising nature of psychiatry."
i believe in bits from both sides, honestly, but like,
my broad experience in psychiatric care shows that Generally, they are here to help and hold no stigma. HOWEVER, enough people within the field hold stigma toward anything beyond depression or anxiety, that looking for psychiatric care is a minefield. and like also some of the names and ways symptoms are described are stigmatising, even if the majority (not a vast majority, but a majority) of the professionals i've seen are very, very against the stigma around mental illness, and that some "symptoms" aren't even problems, and don't need to be treated.
but also like, i think most people in the world show some things which can be described as symptoms of mental illness, and i literally think it should be mandatory teaching like, in schools, for people to learn how to manage their emotions, communicate effectively, etc. like i literally think shit like CBT and DBT should be something everyone is taught.
and also i think like. stigma toward mental illness is bad and it's not rlly just bc of like. the names of them, but also bc ppl perceive mental illness as something that Makes You A Bad Person, and don't recognise that the reason for the behaviours is because of trauma, and instead like, it's just bc the person is like. Selfish or Manipulative or whatever. when, in reality, the lack of empathy or manipulative behaviour stem from mistrust or other negative feelings rooted in their trauma.
like mental illness Can lead people to behave in ways that are harmful. but those harmful behaviours are also defence mechanisms, and the people who perform those behaviours deserve the kindness they need to unlearn those behaviours.
like not necessarily from you. like you don't have to be there the whole time to hold their hand if you're not able, but stigmatising them for the behaviour isn't the answer, yk.
sometimes the answer to a person who has harmful behaviours is to hold them until they stop being scared.
and sometimes it's "i care about you, but you are behaving in ways which are harmful to me, and, while i want to see you better, i need to distance myself from you for my own health," and based on their response, either sticking around in their periphery to show you care, or leaving entirely if you know they will continue to be harmful to you.
but like, showing kindness towards these people, and recognition of the fact that their behaviours are a result of unhealed wounds, while prioritising what you need, is the answer. yk, like, stigmatising them and treating them like their behaviours are rooted in Evil ensures they'll keep being hurt, keep having that wound opened, and never heal.
like one thing i want to say is like. abuse is more complicated than just The Abuser Is A Horrible Person, yk. To abuse doesn't make you An Abuser, just as how committing a crime doesn't make you A Criminal. Abuse isn't something you are, it's something you do, and it can be changed. and you can't always make up for it, but you can learn from it.
and the big stigma with mental illness stems from how "Abusers" are treated by society. it's the lack of forgiveness and room for growth. someone fucks up, and they're treated as a "Criminal" forever.
what are we? christians? we're just going to hold these people to these fuckups forever?
someone has trauma that leads them to perform harmful behaviours, and that means they don't deserve a chance at all? someone performs harmful behaviours and that means they have a Disorder and are Bad By Nature? yk?
there's so much Determinism in how we view others and it fuels stigma.
an abuser isn't something you are, it's something you do, and a disorder doesn't make you an abuser. it can lead you toward abusive behaviours, but that doesn't mean you're guaranteed to behave abusively, and that doesn't mean you're unforgivable and you won't grow and improve if you do.
idk. i had more of a point but my roommates keep talking rlly loudly and it's distracting me. đ

Why Is It Crucial To Have Science Education in Schools
Best School in HSR Layout
Truthfully, science influences the vast majority of the decisions we make each day, even though it isnât often evident how it affects our daily lives. Science is integral to every aspect of our day, from maintaining our health and wellness to choosing between paper and plastic at the supermarket or simply responding to a childâs curiosity about the cause of blue skies. Here, we provide a thorough guide for you if you want to learn more about the significance of science education in schools.
Scientific investigation is the methodical study of observation and experiments to ascertain the structure and behaviour of the social, physical, and natural worlds. It is essential for innovation, increased global competitiveness, and human progress. Developing new medications for different diseases or discovering and cataloguing new galaxies are just examples of how important it is for the globe to keep advancing science.
Science is just as important as other courses like the humanities and modern history. Discussions about education today are dominated by the growing importance of STEM education. It is a challenging discipline to teach because of the volume of content to cover and the studentsâ disengagement caused by the level of science mastery. But every educatorâs considerations should centre on the importance of teaching science. There is much more involved than merely repeating rules, concepts, and terminology.
At its most basic, science is social contact that imparts persistence and patience. Along with these benefits, it can teach kids how to think critically about their environment and make them conscious that they have a role to play in resolving global problems.
The Importance Of Science Education In Schools
Knowledge
Students get the chance to learn more about how and why things work through science education. Children can learn about their surroundings through science. Science can explain the workings of intricate systems in anything from human biology to modes of transportation. Science-related knowledge can be employed to understand novel concepts, make informed decisions, and follow a new passion.
Kids and teenagers can learn more and remember things better because science offers concrete or visual evidence for many of the topics we see on screens and in books.
Problem-Solving Skills
Children who study science can develop a healthy sense of scepticism. A studentâs understanding and ability to ask questions about the knowledge they have gathered can be improved by science. Many students find science to be engaging and fascinating, which leads them to discover new scientific topics of interest. Science provides children the notion that they can contribute to the solution of global problems, which is a desirable notion. Children who study science are better able to reason and solve problems. The majority of what you observe is the result of people who encountered a problem and used their knowledge of science to find a solution.
Boosts Critical Thinking
In science, theories often begin with an experiment that uses scientific methods and analysis to demonstrate the hypothesis. Students can connect practical and theoretical work by following the scientific methodâs framework of a rational analysis to new topics. All disciplines and spheres of life can benefit from an understanding of the relationship between theories and research. Science gives young minds the energy they need to perform at their highest level, similar to gas to a stove.
Encourages A Learning Passion
It is inherently fascinating to learn about the remarkable everyday occurrences that occur, such as how a fish breathes in water, why the sky is blue in colour, or how the sun sets to the east. Science encourages learnersâ innate curiosity and motivates them to solve the mysteries of their surroundings. Many people are attracted to a hands-on approach. A love of studying might be sparked by the opportunity to personally illustrate scientific concepts.
Supports Many Disciplines
Knowledge of various academic disciplines is required in order to understand science. For instance, a key requirement for both qualitative and quantitative research is the ability to understand mathematical concepts. Technical skills like careful observation of what is occurring in your ambience and the ability to conduct controlled tests are the foundation of scientific technique. One way to impart the importance of detail and objectivity is through the reporting of findings in scientific reports.
Futuristic Advancements
Itâs difficult to think of a single element of life that technology hasnât affected in some way. It is an essential part of numerous industries, from high technology to agriculture, and all in between. Science education is necessary for the next generation to help them prepare for the future. For instance, programmes focused on science in schools have contributed to the drop in smoking rates.
Science can be helpful in showing kids the risks associated with substance addiction as well as the environmental and health effects of toxins like smoking tobacco.
At MS Dhoni Global School, we ensure that our students experience the most interactive science education in school. We deploy several tried and tested approaches to encourage pace and effect of learning sciences.

An (Incredibly Loose and Unfounded) Analysis of Dolcio Cioccolata
Content Warnings: Typical Cioccolata behaviour such as murder and manipulation. One mention of suicide. Discussion of child abuse.
(A/N: I do not know much about psychology, nor do I pretend to. Instead, I'm essentially going to be listing out headcanons of educated guesses about his motivations and behaviours based on his canon actions.)
Cioccolata is one of the most rightfully despised villains in the entirety of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Beyond his egotistical, rotten behaviour around other characters, the reason for his notoriety arguably lies in the disturbing reality of his evil. He isn't motivated by a cartoonish desire for world domination or an explicable feud with our protagonists that could really only arise in fiction, but a simple, sadistic desire to observe the suffering of others and revel in the power it gives him. Although he is in possession of a highly lethal stand, his weapons of choice are natural tools. Medical tools. He scares us, because his evil is grounded in reality.
One of the most perplexing things about Cioccolata's behaviour is the inconsistency in his demeanour. Despite initially appearing to be a flat, one-dimensional incarnation of pure sadism, he has a number of highly distinct moods that, despite their diversity, are all recognisably his. There's the manic joy that usually comes to mind when you first think of the character, but there are also moments of uncontrolled anger, fear, and even calmness.
It's the fact his emotional exterior can change very suddenly that makes it so unnerving. Notice how calm he initially appears when he carves into one of his victims during his backstory segment. Until the point he breaks into a sickening smile, there's not even a hint of a twitching lip to indicate his usual sadistic joy at doing what he loves.
There are other similar instances, such as occasions where he suddenly bursts into emotion during his fight with Giorno, or interacts very inconsistently with Secco.
One possible explanation for this behaviour is that he treats his life like a grand piece of drama in which he is the star actor. You know that trope of the actor character who's just a bit too full of himself and takes his performances to an obnoxious level of serious? That's how Cioccolata treats his whole life. It pleases him to turn every word, every expression, every movement of his limbs into the work of an intellectual genius, something the audience in his mind will clap and cheer for as he enters the scene.
Unlike Kira, a more major villain who follows the similar role of a serial killer who at least some of the time follows 'realistic' urges and methodologies in his crimes, we don't have anything in the way of an explanation for Cioccolata as to how his murderous urges arose. Nonetheless, I believe there are most likely some similarities between the pair.
Some might assume that the sheer brutality of Cioccolata's crimes would point towards a highly traumatic childhood, with abuses to rival the fates of some of his victims. In real life, while it is common for serial killers to have had such childhoods, they don't usually create the behaviour patterns seen in Cioccolata. Such killers often lash out against specific groups, women being a common target especially if the killer was abused by a maternal figure. As far as we know, Cioccolata has no specific target demographic other than the incredibly broad category of 'the weak.'
Additionally, we know from canon that Cioccolata was able to seek voluntary work at a home for the elderly at the tender age of 14, and judging by what he got away with, was clearly trusted by the institute's staff a lot. This would point towards Cioccolata having a family life that at least externally appeared respectable, and left Cioccolata stable enough to hide his deviancies where necessary.
The backstory I have created for Cioccolata is a middle-ground between a childhood of abject misery and trauma, and a childhood of perfect normalcy (in which Cioccolata's evil would have arisen purely from nature).
It begins with Cioccolata's birth to a teenage mother, hailing from a wealthy conservative Italian family, and a foreign tourist who had already made his getaway months ago. The circumstances of the birth brought about great shame that caused the mother and child to be severely chastised by the rest of the family. Within a few years, the shame brought the young mother to a breaking point and resulted in her suicide, beginning Cioccolata's fascination with death.
After this, Cioccolata's life continued roughly the same. He did not mourn his mother as the pair never properly bonded and his grandparents continued to treat him with the same coldness. That was until, around the age of 10, it became undeniable that Cioccolata possessed a profound innate genius, and would likely go on to be incredibly successful. Suddenly, the boy was showered in praise and encouragement, teaching him the crucial lesson that love is conditional, and only owed to those who are strong.
On this subject, we arrive at the most tantalising question of Cioccolata's psychology, that being whether he is truly capable of love. The short answer is: yes. His love for Secco is genuine in the context of his own behaviour, and if he were to have lived a full life it can't be ruled out that he would have experienced love of some form again. Everything we see of Cioccolata's relationship with Secco points to a genuine love, from the way he apologises for throwing one of the sugar cubes too far to his heartfelt goodbye over the phone. Even if their relationship is unhealthy, Cioccolata has goodwill towards his companion.
The issue that then has to be reconciled is how Cioccolata is capable of this kind of companionship when the vast majority of the population are nothing but lab rats to him. In short, Cioccolata's morality is whatever he wants it to be. He is the ultimate worthy being and hence, if he cares about someone, he can break the rules of his philosophy to do so because, if they weren't deserving of it, why would someone so important as him have feelings for them?
You can take this back to the point about Cioccolata's life being a performance to him. We already know the fascination he experiences with fear, so perhaps he has similar curiosities about other emotions, like love? Perhaps having someone like Secco fills him with a grand sense of poeticism, as though he is the misunderstood hero of some acclaimed play, playing out the scene of a beautiful romance against the backdrop of a bloody tragedy.
If there's one thing to be taken away from this, it's that Cioccolata's entire existence, his whole world-view, is built around his self-importance. A fairly moot point, now it comes down to it, given everything about the character's actions, but it's interesting to see how this profound egoism plays out in his more subtler interactions. Perhaps it's not only the realism of his crimes that makes him so terrifying, but also the realism of the particular way he regards his fellow humans like dirt. If you survive him, it's for his pleasure.

How do you differentiate between Cinder and Winter/Weissâs speech patterns? Like I know cinder doesnât have as much of a fancy flair as they do but Iâm like- pretty sure itâs there?
Iâm writing cinder right now and Iâm just having a hard time fighting out how to exactly figure out how she speaks.
That's really interesting. I don't think I would have considered their voices that similar until now so I hope I've given you an adequate answer - nailing down character voice is the hardest/most rewarding/most fun possible with fanfic!
If you're struggling with speech pattern and cadence I would both sit down for a rewatch as well as read transcripts of their dialogue. Also I would point out that Cinder lets her speech slip a little at points, I'm thinking most particularly of, 'You're gonna let her die, too?' (to Jaune) because that really stood out to me. I think that Cinder's speech probably partly comes from performance but then also is just part of her - like I think she picks up on some archaic constructions from Salem and it's sort of awkwardly cute - but then on the other hand I think when more casual inflection of speech crops up that's signalling something else about her character too ('more' her?).
There is also something a little grandiose and almost poetic about her and the character type I refer to when I think of her is the Bad Wizard Club, Byronic Heroes Anonymous etc. like Ganondorf's, 'I can see this girl's dreams.... oceans... oceans... oceans... Oceans as far as the eye can see. They are vast seas...' or Solas' Hallelujah-inflected speech (major Dragon Age: Inquisition and DA4 spoilers for this character lol)
Iâve journeyed deep into the Fade in ancient ruins and battlefields to see the dreams of lost civilisations Iâve watched as hosts of spirits clash to re-enact the bloody past in ancient wars both famous and forgotten every great war has its heroes Iâm just curious what kind youâll be
or that way they gave some of Darth Vader to Ben Solo (which was sort of just meant to be derivative ANH bullshit) but then because Adam Driver did that with his performance, you get almost this boy-king melancholic essence to his observations (and if you don't like Ben Solo I am afraid that I make no secret of being a Reylo) but THEN in particular with him you get the casual speech slips like Cinder which is why I think he's a meaningful comparison (shirtless scene... Kylo Ren says Yeah, me too, who ever thought YEAH was even in his vocabulary). My favourite line by Ben is when he narrates seeing Rey's dreams, 'At night, desperate to sleep, you imagine an ocean... I see it... I see the island.'
I would consider this type of speech the poetic observation that this particular character archetype excels at. For this reading of Cinder and how I approach her speech this is 'more her' than the femme fatale mask and I'm not talking about the mask here. There's still an element of gravitas to Cinder's speech and behaviour that I think is natural to her. That's why I say, 'Byronic heroine not femme fatale'.
Oh, I think especially of when they're descending into Haven's Vault, 'Much grander than Beacon's. I wonder what the effort was for,' by the way I'm doing all of these character lines from memory so plz forgive, that's also what I would consider contributing to it (observation of beauty).
The reason I refer to other character types is because when one is trying to construct a voice in fanfic one needs as much material as possible, it's a different art to writing original work and it's actually a lot of fun. Trying to figure out what works for her (why I think the Byronic heroine archetype is useful and I do not shut the fuck up about it) is the very rewarding/difficult/fun part, especially as Cinder's completely resistant to letting ANYBODY in.
So if you want to write her when she's performing for other people there's a wealth of it in V1-3 but you also have to remember that the whole conversation with Pyrrha basically is the first glimpse of Byronic heroine Cinder, 'Take care in knowing that I can use this power in ways you could never have imagined,' and 'Do you believe in destiny? / (devoutly) 'Yes.' One of the points I would emphasise once again is that Cinder's femme fatale performance is like an echo of an echo, so there's naturally a bizarre sense of artifice to her speech that I would read. Then again there's character speech and then there's character perspective and monologue, and even if you're writing V1-3 I think there are still colours of post-V4 characterisation which can be inserted in and realised there when, lacking her perspective in the show, it otherwise couldn't be done.
Speaking generally now - Cinder is very very unique to my ear - Cinder has a touch of sarcasm that's more in line with Jaune rather than Weiss' belligerence, Winter sashays between being completely cold and closed off and completely open and compassionate and kind and her impassioned, 'I'm giving you a head start' is that type of straightforward older sister heartbroken sincerity... it doesn't fit Cinder. Cinder's articulate speech sometimes has playfulness to it in V1-3 and sometimes I wonder how much she's screaming on the inside in the show. When I pay attention to the performance by their VA's there's a world of difference between them - like Winter, military older sister, Weiss, disowned heiress who shucked off the Schnee princess persona, Cinder, Fall Maiden-Byronic Heroine-Indecisive Queen (okay she is obviously Queen-themed especially as Salem dismisses her as a pawn, but I canât help myself here), these are distinct archetypes you can study to differentiate them.
Also, I did sort of assume you're the same anon writing the fic set in V1-3 so that coloured some of my response but I did generally answer in the sense of her whole character. This is also potentially not one of my best responses ever because I'm finishing up my own fanfic, but I hope I've offered some things for you to think about with your own writing - obviously I don't want to tell you exactly what to do and think.
Finishing off this ask with Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah which I wrote this response listening to. :D
P.S. Donât underestimate the power of music to construct character voice or even fanfic theme. Like, seriously, hereâs a taste.
#seraphina's asks#cinder fall sadsack tag#purity ring songs simply do not have the oomph on youtube compressed

The idea that gender is this performative force that you cultivate from within yourself and express to society is so flawed.
1. Suggesting gender is internal. Many gender theorists talk about how "everyone has a gender identity" but gender is a social construction that's come about only through socialisation and gender roles differ massively in the world. The idea that one happens to be born with a feminine essence that happens to perfectly match their culture's standards of femininity and that this is what makes them a woman is absurd, and the idea that they could be socialised into a feminine gender identity (TIMs' arguments that they "did not receive male socialisation") when they weren't born female is also absurd.
2. Gender is more of a performance for some than it is for others. Gender is oppressive for women in a way it isn't for men and in virtually every culture around the world, gender roles for women centre around beauty and submissiveness to men. This means that under the framework that gender is an identity that is expressed, the same behaviours or non-behaviours are treated differently. Not shaving and not wearing makeup are non-behaviours, yet under the idea of "gender expression", these aren't neutral acts but acts of masculine or androgynous expression, a man's non performance is a woman's performance. This framework takes for granted that gender is an equal balance that femininity=masculinity without questioning the status of male being considered default. This even applies to bodies. Having flat breasts and a straight torso is regarded as more neutral than having breasts and hips, even though neither is inherently more neutral, the male body is just regarded as the default.
3. It cannot be measured. Some might respond "my gender is complicated, it doesn't fit neatly into society's categories". Under gender identity and gender expression, everybody's genders are complicated because they act as the sum total of all human behaviour and thought, thus as nobody performs their gender perfectly all the time, everyone could individually claim to be a form of non binary. But at the same time this concept of "cis" exists which suggests that the vast majority of people have a gender identity that isn't different to what they are "assigned as". But how can "cis" exist if gender comes from each person individually and none will ever perfectly match gender roles? A possible answer from genderists is "If people identify into the gender they were assigned, regardless of their behaviour" in which case, what are they identifying into? A set of feelings? An essence? All of which still has the same problems in explaining how gender comes to be.
4. It's sexist and victim blaming. The rise of terms like "gender-based violence" to refer to attacks on women imply that it is a woman's behaviour, her gender expression, and her identity that caused her to be attacked, something that the perpetrator sensed from her projection of identity. It implies that if a woman identified differently or "expressed her gender" differently, she would be safe from misogyny. As I've established, the gender roles placed on women are restrictive and femininity is more of a performance than masculinity because male is considered the default, under gender performance a man is allowed acts of neutrality that a woman isn't, supposedly because of the very nature of masculine and feminine identities. This theory also destroys class analysis of men and women by placing focus on one's internal identity rather than lived reality.
5. What's the alternative? Radical feminist theory says that gender is the oppressive roles created by patriarchy that dictates how people based on their sex must act. Radical feminists are for the abolition of gender and examine sex as a class instead of gender. Radical feminists say that a woman is an adult human female who otherwise can be anything, have any range of personality, behaviour, thoughts or appearance.

Mastering Content Categorization with NLP: Your Ultimate Guide
What is Content Categorization?
Ever felt like youâre drowning in a sea of information? Thatâs where content categorization steps in, acting like a trusty life raft. Itâs all about organizing your content into logical, easy-to-navigate groups. Think of it as sorting your sock drawer â one for the colorful, one for the plain, and another for the odd socks. Proper categorization not only helps you find things quickly but also how NLP enhances content categorization and user experience.
The Importance of Content Categorization
Why bother with content categorization, you ask? Well, imagine visiting a website thatâs a jumbled mess. Frustrating, right? Good categorization ensures your visitors find what theyâre looking for without breaking a sweat. Itâs the secret sauce behind seamless navigation, boosting engagement and retention. Plus, search engines love well-organized content, which can significantly improve your SEO performance.

UFC - THE PROFESSION OF VIOLENCE
Like an awful lot of people on this planet, professional competitive sport has been and continues to be a major player in my day to day life. Football is my primary narcotic though it would be fair to say any form of elite athleticism will more than likely hold my attention, interest and curiosity.
Yes I know that watching rather than participating could be considered a form of voyeuristic masturbation while I also know the differing levels of frustration experienced by all humans require different forms of release and expression that is usually exploited by others at some cost â but hey Iâm not hurting anyone with this innocent compulsion - am I?
Emperors, Kings, Queens, Popes, Imamsâ, dictators, despots and democratically elected political leaders have, throughout history, employed and promoted the distraction of organised sporting competition to keep at bay the terror of the masses rising up and expressing honest frustration - in an organized violent manner â for being resigned to a life of limited opportunity.
(Somehow always seeming to be in conjunction with soul destroying levels of disguised tyranny enacted and enforced by our betters through lies, laws and lashings of physical and financial punishments)
It is therefore not too big a stretch to say the progressive nature, construction and attraction of competitive sport continues to be popularized from levels of frustration requiring appropriate outlets by any given populace at any given time.Â
Such outlets can usually be provided for and defined by;
¡        The beauty of physical form and performance
¡        The thrill of second hand success
¡        The biting acceptance of honorable loss
¡        The controlled anger at poor decisions
¡        The bitter sweet shock of an underdog performance
All of these emotions and more are easily connected to exciting the human psyche and have the ability to assuage frustration for the most part. However it must also be accepted that the majority of humans, as evolved animals, have some need to experience or express levels of violent behaviour.
Professional competitive sport tends to provide a second hand outlet for such experience and expression.
From early adolescence to adulthood my two sons graduated from the wild excess of WWE to the octagon landscape of MMA. Throughout the heady days of Stone Cold Steve Austin and the Rock I played along as the dutiful Dad expressing enough interest to encourage and enough cynicism to allow for objectivity. They were kids and the nuances attached to sports like football struggled to compete with the glamour and lunacy of Vince McMahonâs extravaganzas. As a father and sports fan I knew enough to know this.
About six or seven years ago my two lads fell into watching and being intrigued by the relatively new professional sport of Mixed Martial Arts. At the time I wrongly assumed it was merely a graduation from the antics of professional wrestling and paid little or no attention â they were grown men who still took time from their busy schedules to watch the trials and tribulations of Arsenal FC with their somewhat out of touch Dad - which was something I viewed as parental success.
Then along came Conor McGregor!
My experience of MMA to date has grown beyond idle curiosity mainly because this Irishman became the biggest name in the game for a while.
My first hit of the MMA drug was administered with the high profile appearance on a world stage of the bombastic, uncouth, vulgarly base, hugely successful Dublin athlete expressing every sympathy and contradiction known to a âNewâ Irish generation enjoying freedom and an unfettered voice.
At the time I wasnât by any means hooked to the sport but rather fascinated by this single competitor.
McGregorâs antics ultimately delivered a strange downfall that included vast riches and an almost universal disparaging flow of criticism I had rarely seen before in the sporting world. His spectacular collapse from grace rather strangely drew me personally to look at the sport of MMA with more consideration and interest.
MMA - or particularly the franchise of UFC - fascinates me and frightens me in equal measure with its facilitation of every sporting extreme. It is truly the profession of violence that has begun to and will continue to diminish and relegate other pretenders, like boxing, to a thing of the sentimental past.
Itâs a multi disciplined savagery contained within a strange arena having few rules and diabolical toughness - a modern gladiatorial contest to lever the inhibition of viewers to excessive heights of euphoria through second hand unthinkable violence - fascinating and compulsive.
I struggle to comprehend how it can be succeeded as a controlled sporting exercise and spectacle in providing an outlet for much of our human frustrations.Â
But hey what do I know â I always thought wrestling was fake.

It remains to be seen whether this unique course of normally provided antigens will certainly be able to make a difference to cancer cells immunotherapy. The first outcomes have provided some hope-a hope driven by data and brand-new knowledge. Peptide as well as healthy protein bioanalysis brings better complexity compared to small particle analysis. High history noise because of endogenous peptides and healthy proteins can lower signal and call for more complex sample preparation. https://direct-sarms.com/product/post-cycle-therapy-support/ have more multiply-charged types, raised fragmentation patterns, and a range of reduced wealth pieces, all of which decrease signal-to-noise ratio. Furthermore, a substantial variety of biologics have longer half-lives than small particles; for that reason, numerous are dosed at reduced concentrations. Monoclonal antibodies comprise a broadening group of restorative substances, which are made use of to deal with cancer, auto-immune conditions, as well as systemic infections. Mass spectrometry is the analytical device of selection for quantitation of mAbs, due to its selectivity, multiplexing, and dynamic array advantages over ligand binding assays. Waters' Xevo tandem quad household, columns as well as chemistries have been used to perform bioanalysis of large healthy protein particles, such as the monoclonal antibodies and antibody-drug conjugates like Bevacizumab, Infliximab, and Trastuzumab Emtansine. This innovation has applications in injection and medical diagnosis advancement. For vaccines, it can be utilized alone or in mix with various other treatments to treat a vast array of human cancers cells or transmittable illness. The innovation can likewise be used in diagnosis to assess T cell resistance which is necessary for monitoring and also regulating cancer cells and microbial infections. Without doubt, all-natural product-derived and also artificial cyclic peptides have gotten expanding interest from the clinical area recently. This has actually been gone along with by a noticeable renaissance of tasks by the pharmaceutical sector in the area of peptide-based drugs. In this regard, the macrocyclization motif uses a number of benefits over linear analogs, like enhanced security, strength, and membrane leaks in the structure. These beneficial chemical as well as physical buildings can be manipulated for various applications, which are definitely not limited to pharmaceutical exercises. This has been an encouraging example for a compound with oral bioavailability far beyond the Lipinski space, which promoted additional examinations of the possibilities to develop peptide-based medicines for oral consumption. Nevertheless, applications where oral management is not the preferred path, like e.g. topical treatment of wounds or lung distribution into contaminated lungs, can conveniently utilize cyclic peptides as therapeutic representatives. Priming of just one kind of cytotoxic T-cell with one TUMAP is generally not enough to get rid of all tumour cells. Tumours are extremely mutagenic and are hence able to react quickly to CTL assaults by altering their pattern of shared proteins, enabling them to run away from the acknowledgment by CTLs. Several turned on T-cells can act synergistically by all at once assaulting a corresponding variety of separately encoded tumor antigens decreasing the opportunities of a tumour cell to avert the immune feedback by down-regulating single targets. Recombinant as well as wild type pVIII major coat proteins displaying hundreds/thousands of copies of therapeutic peptides. The principle of hydrolysed healthy proteins is that by enzymatically cleaving nutritional healthy protein molecules into peptides, the molecular weight is lowered to listed below the limit needed to turn on the immune system. C-peptide is short for linking peptide because it is in charge of joining the An and also B chains of insulin within the proinsulin particle. The enzymatic bosom of proinsulin causes the launch of insulin into blood circulation and also c-peptide being developed. Connecting peptides have no metabolic feature as well as often tend to be 31 amino acid peptide deposits that have a half-life in blood circulation that can be between 2-5 times much longer when compared to insulin. Cyclic peptides can bind as well as move metal cations across membranes in organic systems. Monocyclic peptides are too versatile as well as non-specifically bind to metal ions, whereas bicyclic peptides are a lot more inflexible and also particularly bind cations. A collection of bicyclic peptides have been made as well as synthesised by scientists to supply ammonium ion complexation websites by means of hydrogen bonding in a tetrahedral geometry. This helps to identify the precision degrees of ammonium ions in the visibility of potassium ions for the scientific evaluation of urea as well as creatinine degrees utilized in blood evaluation applications. An additional class of bicyclic peptides in the onset of development are substances targeting arginine-glycineaspartic acid vectors that bind to the receptors connected with angiogenesis-like integrin receptors. These bicyclic substances might be used for the diagnosis or therapy of malignancy, heart problem, endometriosis, inflammation-related diseases, rheumatoid arthritis and also Kaposi's sarcoma. The license WO 03/ describes peptide-based compounds targeting integrin receptors associated with angiogenesis. The European EP license defines a brand-new course of the bicyclic peptide and also the analogues used as imaging representatives. Radiolabeled somatostatin analogues have actually been made use of to target somatostatin receptor tumours. Recently developed bicyclic somatostatin-based radiopeptides are a new kind of radiotherapy for neuroendocrine tumours and also can be made use of as analysis imaging representatives. These brand-new analogues showed high fondness for sst2 as well as sst3 and modest fondness in the direction of sst1, sst4 as well as sst5. The analogue AM3, consisting of an octreotide ring and also a head-to-tail
LAI nanosuspensions composed of water-insoluble medicines are frequently suggested for the treatment of illness with minimized individual adherence to medication such as schizophrenia. This platform has big capacity within biomedical applications to prevent as well as treat a vast variety of conditions by means of boosted shipment of medications. Our molecules have several benefits over current artificial products made use of in health care.

Ultraviolet Radiation
All images and information can be found on this site. The vast majority of captive orcas reside in outdoor tank complexes. Because of this, and their altered lifestyle in captivity, captive orcas are particularly vulnerable to the sunâs harmful rays. Whether theyâre interacting with their trainers, performing slide-out behaviours in shows, or lifelessly logging for multiple hours at the surface, orcas in captivity are almost always exposed to the sun during daylight hours which puts them at risk of sunburn. On top of this, their captive environments provide them with no natural protection from the sun.
â
Wild orcas spend minimal time at the surface as theyâre frequently diving to great depths in dark water. In contrast, their captive counterparts spend inordinate amounts of time at the surface, living in barren concrete tanks with shallow depths, crystal clear water, and walls painted with light, reflective colours. Unlike their natural oceanic habitat, their captive environment exposes orcas to elevated levels of ultraviolet radiation exposure which can cause sunburn. To combat this, animal care staff will apply black zinc oxide, an effective sun-block, to the backs of animals who show signs of burn.
â
However, sunburn is not the only health issue orcas can suffer from due to high levels of ultraviolet radiation exposure in captivity. Although itâs more common in captive pinnipeds, cetaceans can develop cataracts, corneal disease, and lens luxations. As orcas must look up to catch fish that is thrown towards them and to receive/accept commands, they are made to gaze skyward more frequently than they would in the wild. Â This can damage their eyes and taint their quality of life. At least one serious trainer injury has been linked to a whaleâs poor visual acuity, possibly secondary to cataract formation.

As revealed in a 2015 court testimony, Lolita, Miami Seaquariumâs 51-year-old orca, suffers from pterygium (surferâs eye) which was caused by excessive exposure to ultraviolet radiation resulting in discomfort, impaired visual function, and blindness. Miami Seaquarium has failed to provide Lolita with any form of shade or protection from the sun/weather for over 47 years and has therefore violated section 3.103(3)(b) of the Animal Welfare Act. The government body responsible for enforcing the Animal Welfare Act (AWA), USDA-APHIS, have been historically ineffective at ensuring Miami Seaquarium (and other facilities like it) comply with the regulations designed to provide minimum standards of care for captive marine mammals. Their negligence to enforce the law has allowed for Lolitaâs suffering to continue for decades.

uh, eh, hello! I was thinking about my childhood and i realized something, i was kind of... sexual? idk why, but i would masturbate (i'm a female) infront of my family, even when laying in bed with my father. I remember even rubbing my private parts with the chair's corner in class. (aprox 8 years old) But when i was growing up i stopped doing that in public (when i was alone i'd do it) dunno why i was so interested in it, maybe you can explain it to me..? thanks for taking your time
Believe it or not, this is actually pretty typical childhood behaviour! Kids are curious about their own bodies, and most of us figure out that âhuh, this feels interestingâ long before we figure out things like social boundaries and shame. A lot of first-time parents are absolutely horrified to discover that they have to have conversations with their very young children about only touching their private parts in their own bedrooms, but this is a normal thing that a lot of kids go through before they reach pre-adolescence. Kids will touch themselves at the dinner table and run naked down the street, they just donât really give a shit at that age. As long as kids are only displaying curiosity about their own bodies or the bodies of close same-age peers (i.e. playing âdoctorâ with other children their own age), itâs considered developmentally appropriate. Kids eventually grow out this behaviour on their own - puberty hits and brings an absolute mountain of shame and self-consciousness with it, and with any luck, we all figure out how to have a healthy relationship with sex and our own body sometime in our mid-twenties.Â
We only really get concerned about childhood sexual behaviour when children start making sexual advances towards adults and children. A very young child masturbating in front of an adult isnât generally a cause for alarm - again, very young kids tend to be natural exhibitionists and donât really understand boundaries - but we get concerned only when kids are actually trying to touch adults sexually or offering to let adults touch them sexually. That is a learned behaviour, and itâs something we only really see in kids who have been sexually abused. Itâs also alarming when we see kids trying to act out sex acts on other children - children getting naked with each other and touching each other is fairly normal, as kids naturally have a âoh, your body is different/similar to mineâ curiosity that they may explore, but itâs not normal for children to try to actually perform sex acts on other children. Again, that is a learned behaviour, and it indicates that the child has been treated inappropriately or exposed to inappropriate sexual materials (showing young children hardcore pornography is considered a form of child sexual abuse, and it causes behavioural problems in children who have been exposed to it).Â
Realizing that you were rubbing yourself on things or touching yourself in inappropriate settings as a child can be embarrassing, but youâre definitely not the only one who did things like that - the vast majority of us did similar things as children. Kids are driven by curiosity and physical sensation, not social graces - we all ate dirt and boogers, brought worms into the house, and asked very rude questions to complete strangers in public before our brains matured enough to say âoh no, donât do thatâ. Being extremely into exploring your own body as a child does not make you a sex fiend, it just means you were a curious kid! Hope this answers your question! Miss Mentelle

Blind Faith, Subterfuge and not âReal Issuesâ will decide US Presidential Elections Voter behaviour is not really so complicated. I once even took a course in it; about all that I can remember is that the âincumbent and name recognition is all that really mattersâ in getting re-elected, especially for a US President. Regardless of who is the pick for vice president, or whether or not Joe Biden is a Republican at heart with a bad case of both venality and dementia and Trump cannot make truthful statements, the November election is therefore kind of a âtoss upââat least at first impression. Trump is larger than life, whether or not that is a good thing. This worked in his favour last time round, as the outsider candidate against the tainted Hillary Clinton, pillar of the political establishment, the sort who gives representing a relatively left-leaning party a bad name. But this time the US is not electing a new president, it is holding what is effectively a referendum on the incumbent. In 2016 the primary motivation was voting either FOR Trump or FOR Hillary. This time a significant portion of the population will be voting AGAINST Trump, just because itâs him, and his main task will be get these people to stay at home, rather than vote for Biden, even if they have to hold their noses to do so. But with so many Republicans having a problem with Trump, and Democrats having a problem with Sloppy Joe Biden, there will be less interest in engaging WITH, rather than AGAINST, either candidate. If voters act on hate alone, Biden will walk it. But the long campaigning season will probably end with a weary populace ignoring the real issues and voting on the basis of blind faith â that regardless of things like issues and facts, someone, somehow, is going to make their lives better before the whole political system collapses around them. Schoolyard Bully I am dumbfounded at how Trump can blatantly and unapologetically pander to Christians and they eat it up!!! He is reported to have made a statement that if the states donât open the churches this weekend there will be consequences!!! Trump has many supporters in the South, where they are keen on States´Rights. But Facebook and other social media sites are repeating his nonsense, and throwing their endorsement to Trump. Maybe the man is the genius he says he is after all. He is definitely playing them â what can Facebook do, censor Trump or claim that such statements go against community standards? He has been a genius at one thing for his entire life â getting his own way, and just for the hell of it, regardless of what is right or well-advised. Like the rich kid who learns how to twist his parents in knots, Trump is godlike in his ability to manipulate. He will use any trick in the book, and make up some new ones. This may end up being what the election is actually about. The more Trump lies and cheats and gets away with it, the more the disadvantaged and the crooked, who have fallen by the wayside when playing by the rules, will think he offers hope. The rest of America will then decide whether that is really the world they want to live in for the next four years, in the midst of a succession of crises they often have wilfully unreal ideas about to begin with. As one new American, before the new immigration rules set in, shared, âTrump is not that evil; I donât think he is Godlike. He is just a compulsive dude with a character. He is simple but knows how to bargain for profits. Why everyone is after him, itâs funny; I have never seen Americans liking their president ever, as they like Trump.â Us against them Versus them against Us Of course this means Trump wonât campaign by the rules either. Other people made those rules, the same people many Americans blame for taking away their jobs and being soft on their enemies. Trump will do whatever he has to do, whatever the cost, ignoring little things like the Constitution, Rule of Law and facts. His latest stunt is to question whether Bidenâs VP running mate is qualified to stand for the office, based on her parentâs origins. That is really catering to his base, as he knows only too well that she is in no way disqualified for the office, but many people wish she was. Barack Obama was subject to so much rumour about his own origins that he actually displayed his birth certificate (saying Honolulu, Hawaii, 4th August 1961, i.e. after it had become part of the US) at a press conference. These allegations were never based on fact, but allowed some voters to dress up prejudice as hoped-for fact. Trump joined these allegations, saw they worked, and has been finding new ways to make prejudice seem justified ever since. Constitutional law experts say Harrisâ parents are beside the point. The 14th Amendment grants citizenship to all people born in the US, and Article II Section 1 of the Constitution says that to be eligible for the vice presidency and presidency a candidate must be natural-born US citizen, at least 35, and a resident of the United States for a minimum of 14 years. But the Constitution embodies the establishment, and Trump doesnât consider himself part of it. Many of his supporters feel betrayed by it, their needs and values having been relegated to secondary status, or worse, because they and their friends were never asked to write the Constitution. Trump has lied to his base like he has lied to everyone else. He does it every day, shamelessly. Remember building a wall and making Mexico pay for it, incarcerating Hillary, paying off the debt and stopping wars, let alone the more recent ones about COVID-19 response. But what is escaping critical attention is that the current man in the White House represents the character and morals of the masses of people who make up the country. They wonât admit openly to being everything America pretends it isnât, which is why Trump is being hammered in the polls, but they will be voting in mass for his re-election. Their core values are the same: family, Church, flag and job security, as if these are the answer to everything in themselves, no actual performance or policy is needed. The vast majority of these voters must feel that they are now being taken care ofâfor most that means less government, affordable education and healthcare. If Trump makes an about-turn, such as introducing Medicare for all at a price, he will be hoeing in high cotton as the presidential election nears. Blind faith in the system versus blind faith in anything other than the system may not be the best choice to have, as countries which have had revolutions understand. But both sides are gambling that this is how the voters will see it, and that they will choose their faith over the other, and then prosecute it for four years with the same religious fervour so that reality doesnât come and bite too hard. Bubbling under the Radar Trump may support a small state, but he did a clever move extending Federal Unemployment benefits by executive order, albeit not to the previous level of 600 dollars per week on top of any State benefit. He realised that he had no time to waste, especially in the wake of the economic havoc of COVID-19. Congress went on recess so as not to deal with the COVID-19 crisis, as they knew there was going to be too much pork included in any legislation they would attempt to pass. This could be interpreted as meaning they were outsmarted by Donald Trump, and only one such victory will embolden his supporters to believe there will be many more, which they will interpret as victories for them. Trumpâs base of support has closed ranks even more over his monument policy, which makes it a crime to tear down historic monuments. One cannot trash history just because times have changed. I may not like your monument, but letâs talk about it. When the first Democratic debates were held Joe Biden was not most peopleâs first choice, but I wondered if he had the best chance, since he was old and white and had been VP under Obama. This claim to fame would help him gain the black vote en masse, or so he thought. But this has become a moot issue since Biden scolded black leaders, claiming they would not be black if they voted for Trump. That did not go over well with a voter group which as a whole finds Trump a lowlife, but does not expect to be lectured by a senile âold honkyâ.Blacks also realised long ago that if they have an equally strong voice within both parties they are more likely to be heard, not taken for granted by the one they support and then ignored, because electorally not worth the effort, by the other. If Biden doesnât get that, how many other voter groups will he risk alienating between now and November? Biden is the sort of Democrat blacks once deserted his party for being full of â a scion of white privilege, darling of War on Crime (meaning war on blacks, as is Harris), closet racist and blind servant of Wall Street and the Military-Industrial Complex. Maybe this is the real reason he is supposedly polling ahead of Trump in key Electoral College States, even Ohio. However, those with not-so-short memories will remember that the last round of polls before the 2016 election gave Hillary Clinton a commanding lead, and the DNC and mainstream media were so confident of her success they had already printed up the front pages of the newspapers announcing her victory. What makes the pollsters so confident that they will not be even more wrong this time? Trump bashing Bidenâs policies and the Democratic National Committeeâs platform may soon take all the wind out of Bidenâs sails, precisely because it is so easy to bash Trump that it has less effect on the voters. Trumpâs policy of America First is also proving consistent, and this is the one campaign promise few people expected him to keep. This does put Trump in the small category of politicians who actually keep their promises, however ironic that is. The return of no point As for the election, only God knows what will happen. It is perfectly possible that the Deep State controls the voting machines by now and the mail-in ballots too!Democrats in Florida are still protesting about the voting machines used there when George W. Bush beat Al Gore by a tiny margin. As James Baker pointed out at the time, they tested the machines before the election and had no complaints. So either there was nothing wrong with the machines, or the count was distorted by those machines. I know which one my money is on. What people are not willing to wake up and accept is that America needs another system, not the two party system, aswhich now supposedly exists. It is an illusion that Republican and Democrat are the only choices, when members of these two parties stay in Congress for decades and little if anything changes. In 1905 Mark Twain wrote his War Prayer, a short story or prose poem described as âa scathing indictment of war, particularly of blind patriotic and religious fervour as motivations for war.â In the days of the Vietnam War, when both war and politics had meaning, this was seen as sarcasm. Now it is a commentary on what the US political system has become, because people are incapable of engaging with real issues because they do not wish to know the truth about their country.

Tired of negativity.
The truth is, being âlike thisâ is hard. Stepping outside the set gender expectations and becoming someone whose sex is hard to determine at gaze creates an individual inherently outside the social sphere. To be included, you must be categorizable. Diversity is good only as long as your traits donât manifest undesirably. A person who cannot easily be categorized as male or female is therefore categorized as a freak instead.
But thereâs certain beauty and fluidity in being a freak. I spent a long time wanting to be categorizable as male, but my physical reality is that itâs always been an uphill struggle, and through accepting that I accepted that itâs just like any other beauty standard or social pressure - I may desire it, but I donât have to strive for it. Most standards set for us to mold us into squares for square holes are difficult or impossible to meet and ultimately worthless in the face of other achievements we could be working towards instead.
Iâm simultaneously involved in spaces where Iâm automatically read as male and automatically read as female, online and offline alike. My friend group categorizes me as a man, but in real life, Iâve settled somewhere in the zone of male-aligned; the reality of my female body is recognised and treated as normal as it is, but my social role and expectations placed upon me are different from those assigned to other females, and in social gatherings my place is automatically assumed to align on the male side. Such is the duality of me living as a trans man.
Thereâs performative ârespectâ for my âgender identityâ, but due to my disability I mostly avoid these circumstances where people play along with my perceived desires from the pressure to avoid conflict. I donât demand this from people and in reality it makes me very uncomfortable - if you categorise me as a woman then do so and drop the act, I donât need outside validation for needs that I donât even have in the first place. Itâs much more uncomfortable for people to backtrack and therefore single me out, i.e. in group situations âletâs go girls, oh and - youâ. I know youâre trying to be helpful and a good person, but Iâm not here to play games. Letâs go girls is alright. I donât need special attention. The difference between performative respect and naturally assigned gender categorization is like day and night and twenty years of living in this skin have taught me to know when youâre lying to me and probably yourself.
Itâs okay. I donât bite. I know the social atmosphere has made you nervous, but treat me as a person before you treat me as a gender identity. If that person aligns with âsheâ in your head then go with it.
Online, Iâm near exclusively read as a man, Tumblrsphere being the only place that doesnât follow suit due to several reasons: primarily the content of my blogs and my fluency in the culture of this website, and the average user being female and therefore the assumption that every blogger is female, being probably the heaviest. Fandom associations immediately flag you as female. The default is that youâre female - and ironically enough for this website, its recognition of âtrans men as menâ and âtrans women as womenâ is highly performative and up in the category with the false, manufactured respect of many offline situations (work, health care being amongst the most performative of them). But elsewhere? Iâd have to fight to be recognised as a woman. I donât think anyone would believe me if I said Iâm female. At best, Iâd be categorized as âqueerâ in its original meaning - strange, but with a connotation of effeminacy, gayness - or raise suspicions of identifying as an MtF, not the other way around. I donât confirm it either way around. Man/woman is not interesting or important to me in these circumstances. What weâre doing is, what weâre there for. People can reach their own conclusions. The thought of establishing any specific gender in these areas would be highly invasive to my privacy and especially my sexuality, which frankly does not belong to the vast majority of the people I associate with. I donât want them thinking of my body or what I do with it or what Iâve done with it.
This... surfing between the male and the female side of society gives me rather unique perspective to the differences in how men and women are treated in different places. It also challenges me to think outwardly towards myself, considering both how Iâm being viewed at the time and how my behaviour is conflicting with the preconceptions of those Iâm interacting with.
Itâs interesting.
It used to scare me, to be a part of two worlds, and I desperately sought to fit inside one even if it meant lying to do so. Iâve given up on lying now, as Iâve noticed I donât particularly have to worry about my safety. Not all too many people care. Most people are confused at worst. Confusion doesnât threaten or harm me, thatâs just the reality of living outside the convenient categories. After I stopped being afraid, Iâve learned to appreciate this unique corner I inhabit in life.
Itâs like watching society from a tower. I see all.
