Brian Epstein would have been 90 today and I wish he was still here. I was an inexperienced young man when he took me under his wing and gave me a life in music that has now lasted over 60 years. All of these years later, I think of all of the little things that made Brian so special. When my mother died, Brian was there for my father and took him out to dinner. When John and Paul wrote a number one hit, Brian would call me to make sure I sent a telegram congratulating them. He was a father figure, he looked out for us and made sure we looked out for each other. Whether it was Paul, John, George, Ringo, Cilla, Gerry, or anyone that worked for him, Brian treated us all like family. Happy birthday, Brian. Thank you for all you have done for me. I couldn't have done it without you.

i decided today was as good a day as any other to learn how to 3d sculpt and then trace and animate the model…
so i made a little machete to spin in my head
(i still want to fix the snout length a little so it looks consistent, but i feel like it’s a pretty good first attempt at this)
hope you have a nice day and nicer ones to come! :)

if you struggle with mental health, one piece of advice i would genuinely give you is learn to knit.
or crochet: something repetitive to do with your hands, assuming you're capable of it. if you're like me and learnt to knit as a kid but let it lie fallow for a long time, it may be that starting a large, simple project (for me it was a cloak, but a blanket could work too) gets you back into it. or maybe doing something smaller, idk. i personally found socks really hard for a while because they felt smaller than my cloak but weren't getting Done quick enough for me. as i've sped up i find it more interesting to knit socks.
regardless, a repetitive task is great for emotional regulation (also see: autistic stimming), and something that you can look at and go hey i've done something, unlike simply using a fidget toy, can also help to pick your mood up when the brain is being cruel.
it's also useful as a conversation starter or distracter if you don't know what to talk about. if you're wanting to talk to older people also you're more likely to reel them in with knitting (i work better with older people, and 99% of people who ask what i'm knitting are older than me). it also gives you the opportunity to not make eye contact because you're busy knitting, even if you're still carrying on a conversation. if you're absolutely stuck for conversation you can count your stitches and people might stop bothering you.
if you have trouble focusing without doing something with your hands, you can knit! i knit a lot in church, and it helps me to focus on what's being said.
i probably have more reasons you should pick up knitting, but i can't recall them right now, so yeah.
#knitting#catkin knits#i remember one specific time back in october where i was sitting in Bible class utterly unable to stop the most horrible thoughts going#through my head. i was knitting as fast as i've ever knitted. no exaggeration to say i was knitting to stop myself from attempting to die.#and afterwards i sat there in the corner knitting for all i was worth. just repeating to myself 'not now. i am not killing myself now.'#and someone saw me in the corner frantically knitting and came to ask if i was ok. and asked how my mental health was.#must've been end of oct bc it was the first wednesday after i was out of psych ward. and i was having lots of thoughts about the method#i'd used for what is still my most recent suicide attempt. which was in october. and i had the means with me.#it would have been a horrible thing to do. to kill oneself at Bible class. with children around. but i wasn't in a particularly hinged stat#of mind at the time. that's approximately the only clear memory i have of that time in fact.#anyway idk why im thinking of that rn when im fine

I was thinking about this:
"Fen'Harel is said to have spent centuries in a far corner of the earth after his great deception, hugging himself and giggling madly in glee."
And of course things get changed over time. The Evanuris became kind gods, the vallaslin became a dedication to one of them instead of a slave marking, etc., etc..
And it led me to think that perhaps he wasn't giggling madly in glee. Perhaps he was laughing in the way you do when you succeeded at something you didn't expect. The kind of laughing that turns into bitter tears, sobs that wrack your body, the laughing that brings up all your sadness and brings it to the surface.
That kind of sadness that makes you hug yourself to self-soothe because you successfully did what you set out to do but it means losing everything you knew, the entire world you loved, the connection you had to the Fade and magic and the spirit friends you have there.
In order to save the world, you had to destroy the one you knew and loved and needed to save.
Imagine the grief he felt in that moment.
#hi yes I'll go see myself out#I was sat in my car and I was pondering on Veilguard and then I remembered the giggling with glee bit#and that set off the 'gods he must've been so so so sad when he did that' thoughts#AND I MADE MYSELF CRY IN THE CAR#DRIVING 100KM/H THAT IS A BAD IDEA#SO I'M SHARING SOLAS' GRIEF AND MY OWN WITH YOU ALL#14 more days to go#just 14#I'm going to scream a lot to myself the next two weeks#Solas#*leaves the tavern while throwing around tissues to cry into*#imma take a brisk walk to calm down.

I've been thinking a lot (again) about how good of a dad Bob is in "The Laser-Inth" 😭
I put it on the list of my favorite episodes for a reason.
The fact that Bob did not hesitate for even a second to take Gene out of the auditorium when Gene was freaking out because of the loud noise speaks volumes. He didn't get upset, raise his voice, or show any angry emotion at having to miss his birthday performance. Instead, he prioritized Gene's emotions first and foremost, because his son being safe, comfortable, and happy is his first priority, which was being impacted by the show. Even when Gene expressed his guilt at Bob having to miss his BIRTHDAY performance, which he had likely been planning and looking forward to for months, he didn't care in the slightest, even reassuring Gene it was all right.
And when they got back into the car, he decided to compromise rather than be upset, which he had a right to be. He put on a tape of the band that was playing in the auditorium, hoping that Gene would appreciate listening to it more at a much lower volume. And Gene did enjoy it more after an extremely wholesome bonding moment, even wanting to watch the ending of the performance. And Bob also didn't get upset at Gene for changing his mind so quickly, he actually paid forty-five dollars to get back into the auditorium and even made Gene a pair of makeshift earbuds which is so 🥺
This man is the ABSOLUTE BEST example of how a parent should be. Not to mention the ending where he mishears Gene saying "I had fun, dad!" and thinks Gene said "I love you, dad!" and says he loves Gene back 😩👌🏼
#bobs burgers#bob belcher#gene belcher#i just have a lot of feelings about these two and their relationship#this must've been the most chaotic birthday for bob#and yet he took it all in stride#i love their bonding over this band so much#it needs to come back somehow

we don't talk nearly enough about javier willingly confessing to never, ever thinking about a life without lloyd, while knowing damn well everyone in the estate would be able to see his confession. he really put his whole heart out on the sky for everyone to read like that.
he wasn't even asking if he could get lloyd back, he didn't know he was alive yet, he just wanted to know what had happened to him after crossing the gate.
he wanted to know if lloyd was happy in his next life even though javier couldn't protect him in this one so badly he was willing to let everyone know that he'd always thought he would spend the rest of his life at lloyd's side. which for someone as reserved and guarded as javier must've felt a little bit like being flayed alive lmao
#i talk a lot <3#tged#the greatest estate developer#javier asrahan#and like. he did this right after lloyd 'died'.#can you imagine what was going thorugh everyone's mind as they read the big shining words on the sky#saying that javier never thought he would have to live without lloyd?? when they just finished 'burying' the young master?? like. damn.#if lloyd had been actually gone completely i can only imagine javier would've gotten a lot of pitying looks for a long time afterwards.#because yeah everyone must've known the two of them were close very likely closer than just a knight and lord are supposed to be.#but to want to spend the rest of your life with someone else so certain of it you never ever think about the possibility of anything else??#that's. that's a whole different thing y'know?#anyway. my point is when javier brings lloyd back to lorasia everyone and their mother knows javier is hopelessly and irrevocably in love#with lloyd. except for lloyd <3333

sort of echoed this on my sb, but – seeing how watcher "fans" used steven as a scapegoat and as a target of their hate wasn't the first time i saw an asian content creator get fucked over moreso than their peers. BUT it was the first time in the content creating space that i clearly pieced together in my brain,
oh. a lot of people, if they feel entitled and righteous enough to attack someone they don't know online, will choose to attack the person who looks like me; sounds like me; has the same morals as me; was raised like me; reacts to things like me; carries himself like me; speaks to others like me; approaches things like me; etc etc...
and in any other random scenario where these people would've needed someone to feel angry at and i happened to be in the crossfires, they would've done the same to me. for the same exact reasons. they didn't try to see him as a person then and they won't try to see me past what they see on the surface now. and that's sort of the big bummer i've been wading through since the "bye youtube" vid
#what i'm trying to say is that it's very hard for poc to be accepted in western society#if they don't have the exact personality traits you see in most white americans#it's v hard for asian-ams to feel welcomed if they're not immediately extroverted and entertaining and witty and loud#not that steven isn't ever those things. but i don't think he's innately a lot of the things successful white youtubers are#i truly believe that's why hella fans didn't warm up to steven the same way they did with shane and ryan#and that's why they felt like he must've been the most to blame for everything that went down#the utter absence of self awareness from a community that seemed really welcoming and inclusive was what got me#like it's so beyond streaming subscriptions and youtube content. it's disheartening and uncomfortable to see#woohoojazelyn thoughts#discourse#negativity#watcher

Thinking about the time I was playing Runescape as a literal 9 year old and happened to meet a more experienced player in all black armor and a red cape who showed me good spots to mine and gave me a couple of good items for a new player. I remember we hung out and talked for a good long bit while they gave me some good pointers about the game. There's something that really touches me about people in multiplayer gaming spaces choosing to be nice to strangers for no other reason than to be kind. There are cathedrals everywhere for those with eyes to see
#my post#smash cut this to me playing FFXIV years later and running at new players to give them decent gear.#might've scared them by running right at them and sending a tell asking if they wanted a new whm staff or whatever#years and years ago I remember crafting an armor/weapon set for a fresh level 50 Bard I think?#and them coming back a year or two later to say thanks for that and having a conversation with me#where they talked about how they were a 65 year old retired nurse and didn't have a lot to do these days and it meant a lot to them#it's good to pass it on where you can.#also the other fresh 50 Bard I met who I made a set for and they were like. Are You Quitting the Game? because they thought it must've been#so much gil to spend? which is funny because it was MAYBE like 200k's worth of gil stuff

About the accents: if someone has a very "proper" Italian they are either foreigners or politicians/dignitaries/etc. So that fits perfectly for Machete, but I think it would be so funny if he sometimes slipped up and used a Nepalese word bc he forgot one in "proper" Italian lol
(Funny to me cause Naples has its own language in addition to accent, and most people don't actually know those words)
.
#ah that's good to hear!#glad it fits him#there's no way he gets it perfect every time#especially in the absence of widely used standardized Italian in the original canon era#there's bound to be a mix up every now and then#I don't know how likely it would be that he absorbed much Venetian at the time he lived there#I remember reading that lectures in medieval and early premodern universities were held in Latin but I could be wrong#even though his original native language is Sicilian I think he has probably lost a lot if not most of it due to lack of use#but it would be kind of funny if the Neapolitan and/or Sicilian influences resurfaced occasionally in private casual conversations#and Vasco who to my knowledge has never been to the south would be left guessing what he was even trying to say#I'm taking the easy way out and lowering their language barriers a bit out of convenience bear with me#I'm not competent enough to deal with all the different languages and dialects and the communication issues that would come with them#answered#anonymous#sorry to point out an obvious typo but I think you must've gotten Neapolitan/Napolese autocorrected to Nepalese by accident or something#unless Machete has secret ties to Nepali that I'm not aware of#which would be quite a twist

DUUUUDE COOL IDEA
this is probably smth ppl have done before but for some reason I can’t find it
but what if Kisaki hit Takemichi instead of Emma on accident???
how would that go cause it would be interesting
Well ultimately it would lead to two different possibilities, depending on if Takemichi dies like Emma or manages to survive the hit. We've seen Takemichi be very durable during fights and survive things which probably should've killed him a few times so I don't think him surviving would be so out there. If he does survive and is badly injured but ultimately ok then toman is likely even more fired up then before because tenjiku tried to attack the bosses sister and managed to badly injure Takemichi. Takemichi is told to stay and rest while the rest of toman takes care of things. He likely has Hina, Emma and potentially Smiley + Mitsuya with him. But because this is Takemichi, he manages to escape the hospital and go to the fight anyway despite being barely able to walk because "I have to save everyone". And although he wouldn't be able to do much physically there, him being there and still trying would inspire toman further. Instead of Mikey being the one to show up and bring hope back, it would be Takemichi. Then the fight probably plays out in a similar way. The main difference to the overall story would be that Hina didn't tell Mikey and Draken about the leaps and Emma lives. This could lead to a few different outcomes.
If Takemichi died however then toman likely doesn't show up at all. Draken and Mikey are overcome by grief, as are the captains who are also Takemichi's friends. No one is there to lead toman so they forfeit the fight and tenjiku wins. Kisaki and Izana likely get what they want, the only thing that could potentially be in the way here is Emma, who would likely object to Mikey being used in that way. But since she would also be grieving and probably feeling very guilty since Takemichi died saving her, plus would also want Izana back in their lives. She may not be able to do much to protect Mikey (not to mention kisaki would probably try to get rid of her if she did).
#yknow this made me realise that no one really reacted to Emma's death aside from Mikey and Draken??? Like we know she went to toman meetings#a lot and knew at least the founders since she was a kid she must've been on at least friendly terms with a bunch of the guys but no one#really said anything or seemed that upset????#tokyo revengers#tokrev#tokyo revengers spoilers

everyone likes to make fun of damen saying his argument at the trial was just “your honor he is innocent bc. i love him” but that’s not true at all!
damen speaks specifically of laurent’s character and behavior with his army, his servants, his people, and his devotion to vere in general. he calls laurent dedicated and honest, all relevant contradictions to the accusations made against him in this stupid ass trial.
he gives a coherent testimony about laurent as a person from his perspective since the first time he met him on the way laurent was outside of the fact that they were lovers and AFTER that the very last thing he adds in for a little flavour is that damen enjoyed laying with him implications of that being basically no guys laurent is not a depraved freak
and in fact the first person who claims damen’s testimony is just a love declaration with no weight is the regent.
which it's not to say that it wasn't a heartful declaration when it was, but it was also a valid testimony for god's sake, literally no worse than guion’s was. it just wasn’t aligned with the regent's intended result of the trial.
#damen#damen x laurent#captive prince#kings rising#damen ending on that lovers note must've made it so easy for the regent to twist it as the meaningless biased words#of some lovesick idiot. but they were not#if guions whole Mess said something about the parts of the trial that werent in the book#let me tell you. false testimonies were definitely the best arguments these people had against laurent#maybe like a falsified letter or document. but really it mostly must have been people talking trash#giving quote unquote testimonies#damen's was fine. he spent a lot of time with laurent he Was There factually so his word counts#im guilty myself of making these jokes btw bc its funny but you know. the facts are there and they are also fun

I really like the idea that over the years, AZ's story has been made into a mythology surrounding Kalos where no one knows for certain how much of the story is truth and how much is fiction (ie: Alexander the Great)...
And due to this there's different variations of his tale and different names that he may be referred with (he's generally called AZ because one of the confirmed things about him is that his name contained an A and a Z (or their bronze age equivalents)). It's known that he had a beloved Floette, it's known that he had an important key, but the story of the Ultimate Weapon is likely treated like a myth to explain why Kalos fell into a dark age after experiencing such an era of prosperity under its first king, rather than a factual thing that happened.
I'm also fond of the idea that at some point in history AZ's story became incorporated in some facet of the region's early religion 😭 and in this particular version of the events, AZ is considered a demigod.
(it was many years before AZ returned to Kalos for the first time so he wasn't aware of this at first too)
Hmm while I'm on this topic... I'm gonna pretend the reason why "Floette was a gift from his mother" isn't mentioned in-game is because it's a piece of history that never got uncovered. It is known AZ had a Floette, but her particular origins are a historical mystery.
#hope talks#trainer AZ#Lysandre knows of the weapon due to stories passed down by Xan... But it must've been a lot of work to uncover it's actual existence#In addition to locating where it was buried and how it functions#Since I doubt AZ left behind any written records about it himself 😭#Interesting to think about the ways Lys likely had to pair together fact and fiction#In order to get to the root of the story!! Too bad he uses this skill for evil and to try to blow everyone up
