I do feel like the way Kyoshi was written in the Avatar reboot was lowkey influenced by the fandom's perception of her. Cause like in the original show she's really just portrayed as a pragmatist who's willing to kill if necessary. Like Aang is conflicted about killing the Fire Lord and she's like "well if I were in your position I'd do it but that's just me. Good luck." And then people started making memes where she's like a murderous psychopath who thinks extreme violence is always the solution. And it was funny at first cause it was just exaggerating for comedy but now everyone thinks she was actually like that in the show when she really wasn't. And then in the remake her introductory scene is her angrily yelling at this 12 year old that he needs to stop being a little pussy and be a ruthless warrior or whatever and the only explanation I can think of is that someone in the writer's room maybe looked at a few too many of those memes.

#zeno's art#ocs#reassassination#octavia krankenstein#oh i got a LOT to say about this one#in the comic octavia starts wearing this outfit after a certain event i think n its very symbolic#it represents mainly how her personality has changed as well as her relationship with kranken and humanity as a whole#lets do it top to bottom. FIRSTLY the mask that replaces her goggles that she wore in the “summer” outfit#the mask represents several things. firstly that octavia's relationship with kranken improved#i think the mask itself is probably kranken's and octavia uses it. showing that they've become closer#and ALSO even using a mask to hide her identity while working is in line with kranken's ideas of clothing being practical rather than flashy#(see her first outfit was originally really frumpy and practical before she DIY'd it into the minidress type thing)#anyway. the hoodie is supposed to harken more to an executioner showing octavia is more used to her job#the hoodie has eyelets which are circles. the fact that there are way more circles in the design shows that she becomes less cold#and more assimilated into human society#the gloves however are a sign of her persistent rebellion as they're fingerless and impractical lol#the pants are based off of tripp nyc's design. which was popular with mallgoths in the 90s/00s#it shows octavia's own personality and interests and of course has two hidden sets of 6's through the eyelets#lastly her shoes resemble skulls. that one's just for fun#while her first outfit completely represented rebellion i like to think this one bridges the gap between rebellion and octavia settling down#and becoming more familiar with those around her#this is only the first pass so i'll prob incorporate more red into the outfit before it's finalised#octavia isn't the only one who changes either! i want like ~3 changes for almost everyone

I don’t know exactly what it was but my first thought seein#the white void was she was appearing to MK in his mindscape to talk to him. so I built on that#I wanted to give him a more ‘Smokey’ look as a shadow just based on how he manipulates them in the show like in shadow play. Tulpar Crew and Housing
So I've been thinking about the crew and how they live cause a part of the draw for their kind of work is not having to pay rent, bills, or buy groceries for a year. That means they have to find housing for inbetween trips. Housing they can be away from for around a year at a time.
Swansea and Daisuke are easy cause they live with family. Daisuke has a home with his parents. Swansea's wife maintains their home while he's away. These 2 are fine on the housing front. Just try not to think about the fact Swansea's wife might need his paycheck and she won't be getting it so she might be facing poverty on top of losingher husband.
It's the 30ish trio we have no info on. So based on what we do know I've made some guesses. Curly has like a room where he stays with family. Anya rents an apartment while Jimmy is always moving.
Curly seems to have a very active and social life and also seems like he's been working for PE since he first started working. He's likely in space more than he's home. I really doubt PE pays him what he's actually worth but he's able to afford to do winter sports and join other people's hobbies. So all that in mind Curly having a room with his parents or a sibling just makes sense to me. Like Curly stays there but he doesn't really live there cause he's just always out doing something with someone. He basically just stores his stuff and sometimes sleeps there. I don't think his family would mind cause he'd help out when he's there and contribute to the mortgage and having him stay there means they're guaranteed to see him before he's off again.
I think Anya has her own apartment that she's got a multi year lease on the she renews. I don't think we know anything about her family and she seems a bit of an introvert. She has to have a place to keep her things especially her books since she studies a lot. She'd also need a safe/familiar area for jogging. So an apartment in an area she's used to. I imagine paying rent on the apartment is contributing to her no savings situation.
Finally Jimmy moves around a lot cause he's been on that poverty struggle. His housing wasn't really stable before PE but it is easier after. We get nothing on Jimmy's family though he does seem to know Curly's friends. I assume they're his friends too but probably not as much as they are to Curly since they're only mentioned in relation to Curly. Jimmy probably doesn't have a lot of things since he thinks hobbies are for the rich. So before PE I can see him struggling to make rent and because of that his rental history prevents him from finding a place after PE. I think he "couch surfs" sometimes but Jimmy being Jimmy people only make that mistake once. So I think he ends up in a lot of not so great short term rentals but doesn't mind as much cause working in space makes it more to his benefit.
