Okay if you haven't yet, and you have Netflix/Paramount+, consider giving "School Spirits" a chance.

It looks like a silly little cheesy teenage ghosts show, I put it on for background noise, and then got totally engrossed in the mystery. It's VERY well written, very well filmed, the mystery was GREAT and the payoff at the end is also great.

One of the things majorly lacking in shows I've recently tried to watch is that they try to do a twist/reveal at the end that comes out of nowhere. They don't want you to guess what they're doing. This show doesn't do that. This show wants you to guess. They give you seven different mysteries and enough clues to guess (most of) what is going on, so that when you get the final puzzle piece to any given mystery, it feels GREAT.

The story premise is this: a teenager in hs wakes up as a ghost in the hs, and doesn't remember how she died, and with the help of the other ghosts, tries to solve the mystery of her own death.

Simple premise. BEAUTIFULLY executed. Not all of the questions that arise get answered, but the main one (what she doesn't remember) gets solved by the end of the season, leaving the "why/how and what comes next" to be carried to the next season. It does a cliffhanger RIGHT. But now I desperately want to see the second season (which I believe has been approved, so it's a matter of waiting).

So pretty please, if you're looking for something to do and a great, engaging lil mystery to watch, consider! School Spirits!!

jayce killing viktor isn't even what flabbergasted me bc it was always a possibility in my head, no it was more how he had no hesitation when he killed both salo and viktor, how he had one goal and kept his eyes on it without faltering, how he didn't try to talk to viktor and most importantly how he just... tried to leave after killing viktor? you had to kill your best friend but you don't cradle him in your arms? you don't cry or whatever? what do you know jayce? what happened? wth?

(it's so dark but also so funny that when tain keeps on Hinting Ominously, garak's reaction seems... slightly exasperated? more than anything, under all the tension fsdjafsl. this exact conversation has definitely happened multiple times over the last thirty years, lending horror an edge of 'oh this again huh' ennui and hilarity. 'I should have killed your mother before you were born'/'so you've told me, many times'. I think it's the turnaround time from 'I've missed you, Elim' to this that drives it from straightforward psychological horror sneaking dread to still that but also kind of hilarious. it really took tain less than five minutes to go there didn't it. wow. well, actually. I think maybe the real horror part is that garak still loves him and doesn't know how to stop. somewhere in there is a five year old whose heart is a desperate stupid little moth and his father is a ruinous forest fire in the night, brighter and closer than any star. of course it burns you to touch it that's just what love is, right. *spots a smiling julian bashir in the loading bay holding a box of chocolates out of the corner of his mind and experiences something harrowing and existential he simply cannot unpack right in this moment thank you* right???)

been thinking abt this and ngl theres something that feels so cruel and unnecessary about the final combat in the cr2 finale.. i just dont fuck with it, despite the sheer drama of it all. the clays home being (partially) destroyed Again after they just got it back is so sad. we didn't need to be shown how cruel ikithon is again, like of all things that specifically didn't need reiterating and i think it was honestly a weak narrative choice from matt. fighting ikithon is whatever, sure, that plot needing some wrapping up. but like, i hate that the clays became collateral in it. and even though they all lived, house fires are devastating. add to that the fact that their house is also their sacred temple and has been where their family has lived since they existed And that they'd spent so much time and effort trying to save it and it rly just feels horrible to me. like, they had their beds and heirlooms and clothes and shrines in there and then theyre all destroyed or covered in ash and water damaged from putting the fire out... caduceus has to spend the next year turning it back to a sacred site again. i dont doubt that ikithon wouldnt give a fuck and would kill an innocent family, he obviously would, its like his fave thing to do apparently but i just think that the clays had suffered enough and they deserved better and deserved safety and shouldve been left alone at that point in the story and i think im a hater abt this plot point now actually

They are very silly, AND fun to design. Crepe was pretty straightforward as I had a rough idea of how i wanted them to look like. I struggled with Custard for some time before going for a "heir to a reach family" vibe, though he ended up looking like a butler. I also put him in blue so that he can conrast with Crepe as much as possible.

I felt like making Crepe just their headset is a little lazy+ not very fit for the soul eater universe, but I also couldn't decide what weapon Crepe should be, so I made a couple of rough concepts and I'm letting the people decide.Let me know wich one fits Crepe( and the soul eater universe) best!
