notes : I LOVE THIS IDEA!!!! given the fact im also slovak (jedine vsž !!!). this match was a traumatic experience tbh and i was on the edge of my seat (literally) while watching.. i feel like jude is doing everything to go against my silly ahh.. first joining the rival (madrid) and now knocking out my country from the euros man.. since slovakia is gone, time to cheer for spain and netherlands #vamosandstuff

pairings : jude bellingham x slovak!reader

y/n, long time girlfriend of jude bellingham, could be considered a patriot when it came to sports. on an average day, you could say she hated slovakia. the politicians were horrid, inflation was growing by the week, dumb decisions made by the parliament. but when there was an international tournament, like the hockey world championship or the euros, her national pride was next level. she would proudly wear her jersey with the double cross and the red, white and blue colors and cheer for slovakia like her life depended on it.

this year, the euros were particularly exciting. slovakia had managed to advance to the round of sixteen after a tense tie with romania. the whole country was buzzing with anticipation. y/n, however, had a unique point of view on all of this. she was dating jude bellingham, the english youngster, and their teams were about to face off.

the atmosphere in the stadium was wild. y/n sat in her seat, heart pounding, wearing her slovakia jersey with her name on the back. jude knew she was here, but he didn’t know she’d be wearing that jersey. until now, hes only seen her wear an england jersey with a big number 10 on the back while he was playing. the round of sixteen had brought slovakia against england, and the tension was kinda scary.

the game started off intensely. slovakia's forward, ivan schranz, scored a goal in the 25th minute, sending the slovak fans into a frenzy. you could hear that "SLOVENSKOOOO" in your bones. y/n couldn't help but join in on the celebrations, her heart filling with pride. she glanced at jude on the field, knowing how badly he wanted to advance, but in that moment, all she wanted was for slovakia to beat england.

as the minutes ticked by, the match felt like it was dragging. england pressed hard, but slovakia's defense held strong. y/n's anxiety grew with each passing second. she knew jude was frustrated, but she also knew he was a relentless player.

then, in the 95th minute, jude did the unthinkable. he scored a stunning bicycle kick, tying the game. y/n’s heart sank. she wanted to jump up and celebrate his incredible goal, but the reality of what it meant for slovakia hit her hard. the game was now tied, and the prospect of overtime sneaked ominously.

another thing that kind of pissed y/n off was the way jude celebrated. i mean, come on. you scored against your girlfriend's national team, and that's how you celebrate? of course, it's a very passionate game, but it still hurt, obviously.

overtime began, and y/n's fear became reality. just 50 seconds in, harry kane scored, putting england ahead. slovakia struggled to find an equalizer, and as the final whistle blew, y/n felt a mix of anger, disappointment, and sadness. slovakia's journey in the euros was over, and it was mainly because of the man she loved.

after the match, jude came looking for y/n, a smile on his face. "did you see my goal?" he asked, clearly excited.

y/n, still wearing her slovakia jersey, felt a surge of annoyance. "yeah, i saw it," she replied curtly. jude's smile faded as he noticed her tone.

"what's wrong?" he asked, genuinely confused.

"jude, read the damn room," y/n muttered, turning away. she didn't want to start an argument here, not now.

jude sighed, sensing her mood. "i’m sorry, baby. i know you wanted slovakia to win."

"of course i did? but it's not just that," she said, her voice softening slightly. "let's just drop it for now."

"alright then.." jude reluctantly agreed and went out to dinner with his teammates to celebrate. y/n stayed behind in their hotel room, her mind racing. she knew she was being irrational, but the mix of emotions was overwhelming. how could she be happy for jude when her own team had been eliminated?

hours passed, and when jude returned, the tension in the room was thick. y/n's frustration had only grown. jude, sensing the impending argument, he tried to lighten the mood. "you know, you looked cute in that slovakia jersey," he teased.

y/n glared at him. "really, jude? that's what you want to talk about right now?"

jude's expression hardened. "what's your problem, y/n? i played my heart out there."

"my problem?" y/n snapped. "my problem is that you ruined our chance. you ghosted the whole match and then suddenly scored a stinker in added time."

jude's eyes narrowed. "i was doing my job, y/n. i’m supposed to score goals, remember? and why the hell were you wearing that jersey anyway? do you have any idea how that made me feel?"

"oh, so now it's about your feelings?" y/n shot back. "you think it’s easy for me? watching you celebrate while my team gets eliminated?"

"and you think it was easy for me?" jude retorted. "seeing you cheer for the other team? i thought you’d at least be supportive of me, no matter what."

"other team?? you mean my team??? also, what do you mean by supportive?" y/n scoffed. "how can i support you when you’re one of the main reasons we lost? i know it’s just a game, jude, but it still hurts."

"you’re being ridiculous," jude said, his voice rising. "this isn’t just about the game, is it?"

"of course it is! what are you on about?" y/n replied, tears of frustration welling up in her eyes.

jude ran a hand through his hair, clearly exasperated. "you’re mad at me for doing my job? for helping my team? you knew what this was from the start."

"it's not just about that! it's the way you celebrated, like you didn’t care about what it meant to me!" y/n shot back, her voice breaking. "you scored a goal and acted like you won the fucking world cup. did you even think about how i felt?"

jude’s face softened slightly, but he was still visibly upset. "i’m a footballer, y/n. scoring goals is what i do. it’s my passion, my career. i can’t just switch that off because of you."

"i’m not asking you to switch it off," she said, wiping her eyes. "i’m asking you to be considerate. to think about what it means for me and my country."

jude sighed deeply, frustration giving way to a partial understanding. "i get that, but you need to understand my side too. i can’t not play my best because of our relationship. it’s unfair to my teammates, to the fans."

"i didn’t mean to hurt you," jude said quietly. "i was caught up in the moment. i’m sorry if it came off wrong."

jude stared at her, his anger slowly giving way to realization. "y/n, i never wanted you to feel like that," he said, his tone softening. "i love you, and i cannot imagine you not supporting me from the sidelines."

y/n looked into his eyes, seeing the sincerity there. "okay. but next time, maybe don’t celebrate like you just scored in the finals when you score against us."

jude chuckled softly, pulling her into a hug. "deal. and maybe next time, wear my jersey instead of yours?"

she laughed, the tension finally breaking. "we’ll see about that."

as they held each other, y/n felt the weight of the argument lifting, replaced by a renewed sense of understanding and love. they might come from different worlds, but they were determined to make it work, no matter the challenges.

Very efficient, beautiful, and the expressions are very cute.

🌿 @juniper-clan // This artist has been posting about his clan for almost a year now, and I LOVE how it evolved. It's very refined, the setting is unique and their characters have a beautiful depth that's a joy to explore. Time for some new fankids to enter my fankid au!

First off, I've thought about it and Rhine doesn't exist anymore - sorry buddy. I feel like while Knuckles would want kids, Rouge would not and eventually knuckles would realize he only really feels like he needs a kid to both have someone to Guard the Master Emerald once hes gone - but also because he doesn't want the Echidna race to permanently die out. But he also recognizes that having a kid so the kid can fulfill a role wouldn't be fair to the child. So they decide to not have a kid and instead Knuckles decides to get an apprentice who he will teach to guard the master emerald.

Enter Berri:

To those who saw my post where I just designed fankids for fun, her design should look similar - I originally made her to be a hypothical Knuxilver fankid but I really like her design so I'm reusing her in thsi fankid au! She's no longer a Knuxilver fankid, and now shes a Porcupine!

Knuckles met Berri when she was just...sleeping on the Master Emerald. Literally no idea how she got there. At first Knuckles tried to find her family, even asking Rouge to dig up any info possible, but nothing comes up. Eventually, due to her innate connection to the Master Emerald, Knuckles takes Berri in himself and starts training her to be the next Master Emerald Guardian. Rouge is very found of Berri and loves spoiling her with gifts whenever she visits Angel Island (mostly because it annoys Knuckles.) Berri also enjoys Rouge's visits and loves hearing stories about her spy work and gem collection.

Next up! Surgolin and Whispangle fankids!

These two are Lime and Spitz! (I may change Spitz's name I'm not 100% sold on it) Tbh I haven't thought too much about them yet other than that their kinda more like rivals to the main characters and that Berri and Lime are surprisingly close friends. Lime has electricity powers like zer mom but it comes in two colors - pink and blue which, depending on which ze's using, give zem different "buffs:" pink is stronger but ze cant move as fast and blue is weaker but ze can move a lot quicker. Later on once ze's perfected zer ability ze can swap from blue to pink quick enough that its very deadly. Spitz's wispon is custom made and works similar to an electrified whip. It can extend, contract, and lasso among other things.

COYLE

- Honestly he's a lil tough for me to figure out. He's so dedicated to his job of catching our asses that it feels like he's always patrolling.

- Then again. I wanna say this man is a secret soap opera enjoyer NOW HEAR ME OUT

- He sounds like he's on the verge of tears when he points out that Franco gets a gun but not him. That's dramatic. I think he secretly likes a little drama in his life.

- God help anyone who finds out though. Nobody can know about or interrupt his soaps.

- Also I could say the obvious answer for what I think he does in his spare time but uh. I think y'all can already guess with his quips.

- Other than that? He's making spicy chili to kill Franco with. Taste testing each pepper to make sure it's potent enough.

- Or collecting cool trinkets he finds laying around. Fun scraps of metal, nice rocks, anything he can steal from Franco.

MOTHER GOOSEBERRY

- This woman is constantly busy, never let's herself sit down and relax. She's gotta be doing SOMETHING with her hands.

- Baking, knitting, sewing, she's doing it all with a show in the background for noise.

- She likes to bake pies and such, she likes the effort that goes into making the crust and loves fruit filling. Futterman is a brat about getting flour on his beak though.

- Knitting is a little hard but she gets Futterman to hold one needle with his beak. He only agrees so she won't whine about it. She's knitted a stuffed animal for Franco once on request and he cried so hard he threw up.

- She also listens to the radio and dances to some songs. She likes to sway back and forth or side to side while working on things and listening.

FRANCO

- My lil baby man, of course he's gonna do some lil baby things.

- I think he'd have a lot of coloring books tbh. A pack of crayons spread out on the table, pacifier in mouth, cartoons on in the background, this man is living the dream.

- Speaking of cartoons, I guaranTEE this man has an hour set aside for when his favorite cartoon comes on. He's watching it whether he's busy or not. Do not interrupt cartoon time unless you want a tooth bullet to the shin.

- He'd love to have someone to watch cartoons with, not Coyle though that man doesn't deserve cartoon time. Gooseberry would be an okay option but Futterman talks shit about his cartoons. May have kidnapped a reagent to make them watch cartoons with him.

- If he had the option he'd spend most of his spare time in someone's lap (someone who isn't dead lol) because again, this man is so beyond starved for affection from actual people. My sad little creachure.

- For some not so baby things, he makes sure Lupara is absolutely spotless. He'll spend hours cleaning it and making sure it shines like new. Now, if only he'd take the same care with his suit...

ALL TOGETHER

- You know how bad they were when two of them were together? Adding the last one to the mix is like asking for something to catch fire. Whether it be Coyle's beard or Gooseberry's skirt depends on the day.

- Most of the time spent as a trio is Phyllis trying to make sure Coyle and Franco don't kill each other. She wants everyone to be friends and those two want bloodshed.

- She's bringing out board games and baked cookies for them to all hang out, turns around for two seconds, looks back and Franco has Coyle picked up by the collar.

- They talk the maddest shit to each other and eventually Futterman has to call a time out. They have to sit in opposite corners.

- Speaking of Futterman, they know it's time to calm down when the drill is brought into the picture. Phyllis will not stand for this behavior during friend time!

These ones were a little more difficult but I think I'm pretty spot on with Coyle and his soap operas. Keep em coming my merry little men, you can ask about all three or just one of them.

Remember when I said I was knee-deep into SAMS/LAES? Welp, I still am- so here's my (mental) designs of all the core characters (Not scaled for height)! Some notes/extra thoughts under the cut :D Added their pallets to make coloring easier!

Main 4:

Work:

I swapped Sun and Moon waist thingy; I just think they would do that since they're close. Their arm ribbons were also changed to purple to match!

Moon has a cape instead of a ruffle like Sun because... idk, I think he'd like it!

Earth and Lunar also have matching cuffs; theirs is pale/light cobalt blue.

Gave Earth's dress more Princess vibes; why? Idk, just felt like she would like it!

Sun's joints can be seen since he hasn't died and been "placed" in a new/updated body!

Casual:

Moon and Earth (kinda) have casual outfits, so I thought I'd make something for Sun and Lunar.

Sun HAS his matching friendship bracelet with Dazzle- I finally decided to draw it ^^

Sun's shirt says, "Here comes the Sun" I feel it would mostly be a gag gift, but he likes it!

I almost gave him a sweater (cause he gives me sweater vibes, tbh), but then I saw his Q&A video and went, "damn, never mind, I guess".

Lunar's hoodie was also a gag gift (cause its color scheme is similar to Gemini)- but he likes it too much, plus it's soft :D

Made Earth's sweater a bit darker, mainly cause she has a lot of light colors already (the pink comes from the sprinkle sweater!)

I also feel like the boys would take off their bells when they're not working.

It was asked how and... idk they made an interdimensional portal- I'm sure they found a way to take off the bells lmao

The other 4:

I hate how I did Ruin's rays and hat. But nothing was working for me, so... oh well...

I gave Jack the two tips for his hat because I think he'd like those- same with the arm sleeves!

Also- yes he has a friendship bracelet with Dazzle- he keeps it protected under his arm sleeve, it's identical to Sun's!

I really like how Solar came out. Specifically his boots and shirt design!

He gives me knee boot vibes, so I gave him shoes with a sun and a moon on the back (they lace up just didn't feel like adding those details)

I Like how Eclipse came out- Miiiight redesign him... depending on how the Eclipse and Puppet Show goes, but for now, I'm content :)

I never mentioned it, but I do imagine that Eclipse has a second set of arms. I would think Solar did, too, but those were taken away during his revival because of the "Eclipse sees other Eclipses as inferior" stuff!

The Evil 4:

I made Dark Sun look like Regular Sun... cause that's kinda his whole thing! But if I were to give him a different outfit- it would be Eclipse's!

Few changes to Nexus (I can't take him or his model serious tbh, I kept laughing XD), decided to give his hat a Wither shard at the tip because power (and possible corruption) go BRRRRR (Side Note: Made an AU on it :D)

I'm not sure how visible it is, but on his right cheek, you can see a virus of some kind—I really like that, so I put it on him because I really like the idea of him slowly being corrupted due to his insanity!

He has a darker shade of boots similar to Solar because... well, Solar :)

World President Earth (or WP Earth) has a lovely wine-red dress with her flag as a cape (the same flag seen in the thumbnail)!

The flag is held together by a smiley pin because why not =)

Evil Lunar (while tempting to go with Current Lunar design) has the design of the previous version because, well... that's the form he gained the power in (from my understanding)

The tip of his hat is a dying Star because that feels appropriate, in my opinion.

I MIGHT do Foxy, FC, Monty, and Puppet, but I'm not too sure, tbh, since my mental image isn't too far off from their models. Anyways, time to return to my little gremlin hole and watch the series :)

Ugh if i see that post criticizing Mystra for looking average compared to Shar or vlaakith reblogged one more time Im gonna scream fchgcg do you guys not understand the difference ?

I didn't expect to wake up today and be a Mystra defense attorney but yall need your perspective to be ripped wide open

disclaimer: this only goes as deep as the game lore the actual lore the game is based on is much more expansive and goes into detail about everything im about to quickly explain so i recommend reading it.

So first off all lets redefine your understanding of what Mystra is ,

She is magic, she is the weave, the very fabric of the weave is Mystra, when gale reached out to the purple light and said he can feel her he was not kidding he was literally holding a tiny fraction of her in his hand

All of the scenes that include the astral sea? all the flashes of magic all the outer planes scenes ? All the colors and twinkling? the setting itself? all of it is Mystra

its not made by her it IS her

when my guy Gale said we stand in the palm of Mystra he wasn't being poetic he was being literal the very fabric of the illusion he conjures is Mystra not from her but is her

(on a side note Gale is pretty much very literal in his words and what he tells you but people always brush that off as some scholarly exaggeration for some reason which is another post tbh)

What did you guys think the meaning of magic dying with Mystra's death and her having be reborn 3 times to bring it back to stability?? Its not only because she controls it but because she *is* it.

When you look at Scene that have her or the weave do not only recognize Mystra as the face you see but include the background, the lights, the colors, the magic, everything, if its hard to visualize just imagine the weave and the weave plane as an extension of her dress all of it just the fabric of her dress going on and on and on making everything around her and Gale.

like notice how Mystra physically is not in these pics but she still is because every flash of purple is a thread of her being

here when you look at her you probably only see her "human form" but expand your understanding to see her as the weave behind her the sparkles, and stars, the weave rain around her, the very floor she is standing on, the sky she is floating around in

Now onto the second point:

Why do Shar and Vlaakith present as these all powerful terrifying massive beautiful entities when needing to converse with their followers and Mystra presents as a regular woman ?

There are alot of points i can touch on that will explain there are a 100 reasons

But the main ones are Shar and Vlaakith NEED to intimidate their followers into recognizing them (in other words put the fear of god and anime into the hearts of people that look to them) because without this fear that they inspire they have no influence, they need to convince anyone that lays eyes on them that they are powerful from the very first glance, their power and influence depend on how much people fear them into submission.along side looking ethereal and menacing Shar uses pain and Vlaakith uses false godhood and rewritten gith history to achieve that . that's why they are beautiful and fearsome and massive and their temples/creche's are massive and grand Vlaakith's being on the highest mountain in the tallest building and Shar's gauntlet and house of pain being the deepest underground Structure to exist to the point that its a bit unbelievable (to the point that i had to pan with my camera outside around the mountain to see if its even plausible fhdjd) all of this is supposed to inspire absolute fear and submission into anyone that walks in makes them feel small and dominated by the goddesses power in a single instant so they can instantly gain control over them.

What about Mystra? What do we see she has in comparison?

We see Mystra only has her alter where its used for communication because that's all she needs... She doesn't need to prove her power she doesn't need to make people fear her she doesn't need submission and domination she doesn't need to be recognized because any magic wielding entity can just look into themselves and feel her threads inside of them can look around and feel her presence that's all she needs. And when she communicates with her weave users (what would be considered as her followers but not really) she needs to present an equal footing to them not a dominant one because she needs to discuss things, to reason, to convince them, not only because they are smart and powerful with or without her but because she has no say in what they do with the weave (as long as it doesn't ruin the balance) she cannot stop them or take it from them but she can persuade them to go a certain direction that's the extent of it. And that's why her alignment is neutral instead of evil even though we know she doesn't have the best actions and methods but she doesn't need to hurt people to gain power she simply... Is... And that gives her her power. (another side note this is also gale cant simply stop believing in her or abandon her worship or take of his earnings etc its not that simple as she is in the air he breathes yk)

Soft Shadowheart x Tav Cottage-core Hc’s

These are specifically brainstorming hc’s for my fics (ft. Human/ex-noble Tav) but I feel like most of them are general enough:

Tav has a really good relationship with Arnell and Emmeline. I think Shadowheart was already in love with her by the time they rescued her parents, but seeing Tav interacting with them makes her fall all over again. Tav is extra gentle w Emmeline and never lets her or Arnell do too much labor around the grounds. Idk this is just very important to me

Before they find the cottage, Tav scouts ahead while Shadowheart cares for her parents in the city.

Tav buys a mount just so Shadowheart’s parents can make the trip out to the cottage they want to renovate.

Tav camps outside at nights and offers the warmest (and only indoor) space to Shadowheart’s parents while they build up the rest of the cottage. Naturally, Shadowheart is incredibly endeared by this and camps out with her :) it’s just like old times for them

Shadowheart LOVES PDA. She feels she has squandered so much of her life, plus Tav is a human and she only has so much time to spend with her- so yeah Shadowheart is all over that!! All the time! Stealing kisses from Tav while they work in the garden, slipping her hands into Tav’s back pocket, yanking Tav behind the barn and Tav stumbling out with kiss marks all over her face lol. (And trips to the city!! Shart is 100% on go mode anywhere)

Tav was raised a “proper lady” noble and she SQUIRMS bc she does not want to get caught absolutely devouring Shadowheart in front of her parents! Shadowheart knows this and takes the utmost joy in making Tav uncomfortable like that (affectionately)

When they get around to decorating, Shadowheart realizes she’s never had a space of her own in the cloister (aside from her tent when she travels)! I think she takes a lot of joy in self discovery. Exploring what she likes, realizing she’s so into color and vibrance after so many monotonous years. She also likes the domesticity of just…seeing her items next to Tav’s atop the dresser, or their shared garments in the wardrobe. She can’t remember the last time anywhere ever felt like home.

Tav regularly wakes up to the last remnants of her body heat being siphoned away by Shadowheart, Buttons, some of their cats, and any of the other animals they care for. Sometimes she also cannot breathe bc her gf’s hair is splayed out (and Shadowheart has looooong hair) all over her face. It brings her immeasurable joy and she wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Shadowheart tastes Emmeline’s apple and plum pie and it brings back strong memories of childhood, so Tav takes it upon herself to get all kinds of recipes from Emmeline. In her spare time, she tries to surprise Shadowheart with them. Sometimes they prompt memories, sometimes they taste awful and they laugh so hard they make new memories 💕

Shadowheart’s mark eases up, but once in a while it causes her flashes of pain. If it occurs at night, Tav refuses to sleep. Moonlit walks, curling up by the fire, anything to keep Shadowheart’s mind off it, depending on how much pain she’s in. But the best distraction is usually between the sheets tbh. Shar whom??

Tav regularly beefs with that squirrel. She swears it loves Shadowheart and hates her (it does).

on one hand i feel like it’d probably be better for balancing to give marinette a miraculous since there’s currently so few calamitous and it’d probably be best to give those to the villains so there can be multiple antagonists, HOWEVER i adore the concept of marinette having a calamitous because it’s so interesting!! like how did she get it? why does she have it? so many questions that could end up having a cool backstory behind it, and i also just love the idea of marinette having to prove herself to the team and work to earn their trust. the concept is just fascinating to me tbh

If it happens, it would be interesting to see. And could be quite tense with what I'm initially thinking so far for how Miraculous and Calamitous work.

Both work off having deals made.

For Miraculous fairies, it's a contract that's to be upheld. They offer to grant a small wish for their humans (very small stuff that won't effect too many others, just their human), but in return that human is expected to step up as a hero and help others or their agenda. And that wish will stay granted so long as the human does as the fairy wants them to. These fairies are fine terminating their deal when the human wants to, or it's time to move on, though humans are to be aware that the continuance of the wish stops (which depending on the wish, may not effect much).

Calamitous fairies though, it's more a deal with a devil that entirely works off that fairy's benefit. They'll grant any wish, big or small, they'll "work" for your agenda, so long as you throw the world into chaos. And the humans that do wind up with a Calamitous, they technically get what they want, but not exactly what they want. And any human that tries to terminate their deal usually have an ill fate given that they're no longer "partners".

Calamitous fairies typically prefer to go to the worst or those that are at their lowest so they're easier to manipulate to play off that low emotional state, so IF Marinette did get one, she'd be a rarity. Most likely, it's her finding one by sheer accident as they like to "latch" onto humans and immediately strike that deal. Most likely was aiming for Chloe and she unknowingly got in the way.

And as I prefer comedy over angst, Endurr/Arrdor are going to find it's not so easy working with Marinette.

Endurr would try to intimidate Marinette into submission, only to get pillowed into submission himself or will wind jarred until he stops being so mean or is ready to leave her alone! Cause she didn't ask for this! Only Endurr is too proud to just up and leave... that's admitting defeat. If Weeve ever found out, he would never live it down. She would stalk him, cackling over his failure for centuries...

So he stays to try and make this work. He'll pressure her into doing bad. To be chaotic. She thinks she's unlucky, he'll make it worse!

Doesn't matter how much she picks up herself, or how much she rolls with the punches. She has to break sometime.

Chloe and Lila are terrible to her. Surely she wants revenge? To get back at them.

By Oberon, he's so irritated, he wants to take it out on these two girls for daring to harass his human. She's his to try and mess with. And if they're not going to help in their battle of wills they shouldn't bother!

Arrdor would try to manipulate Marinette emotionally, but he works best over selfish-possessive-toxic people. And Marinette at the core is a selfless, empathetic, and compassionate person. She's going to challenge him on some of these points. She's going to drive him crazy with her need to help others cause no! We're here to cause chaos! We here to upset people!

Ok, yes, yES. Stealing your crush's phone! Now we're talking! Go through it! Discover his secrets! No! Don't just delete the voice mail! At least trash! Throw it in the Seine! DON'T GIVE IT BACK!

And what's worse for Arrdor is that, sometimes, he feels... colorful. He feels... pink.

It's the little things that cause this. They're what's at fault.

She doesn't like him. But she still brings him food.

She made himself a mini gothic dollhouse to haunt.

She'll ask his opinion, wanting a genuine opinion to the topic and not him arguing for arguing sake. And the few times he humors her, he feels heard.

I finally finished Enterprise season 1!

Things I liked:

The cast is fun! My favorite characters are still Hoshi and T’Pol, but I really like Travis and Phlox too (although the lack of focus on Travis is tragic). I generally like Trip and Malcolm except when they’re written as being really sexist, ugh.

I’m enjoying the development of Vulcan and Andorian culture so far, although I’m really hoping for more focus on the Andorians in the rest of the show. I think I like the mixed/partially negative depiction of Vulcans from the perspective of humans. It’s interesting.

I think Enterprise is doing a surprisingly good job of being a prequel. It feels like the creators of the show put genuine effort into thinking about how the world of Star Trek would have been a century before TOS. I like the way Enterprise retroactively shows how much human and Vulcan society have changed over time. It’s not as if I love every single retroactive bit of world-building, but even the aspects I don’t like I can generally appreciate and see how there was some thought put into them (unlike some of the other Star Trek prequels tbh, I won’t name names).

The crew movie nights and the other little moments of regular life interspersed throughout episodes are great. Phlox teaching Hoshi his language, Hoshi convincing Travis to sit in the captain’s chair – all these moments go a long way toward making the crew feel like a cohesive group even when there’s not much individual development of anyone except Archer, T’Pol, and Trip.

The way the characters feel less prepared and more uncertain than the crew of any other Trek show because they’re the first and they’re making things up as they go is great too. I think Enterprise nailed that vibe for the first season of the show at least – similarly to how I think Voyager really managed to capture the vibe of being stranded far away from home, giving it a different feeling from any other Star Trek show.

My favorite episodes were The Andorian Incident and Fallen Hero.

Things I didn’t like (under the cut because I don’t want to put negativity straight into the tag):

The sexism. I was prepared for it, but it’s annoying how much (arguably) worse it is compared to the 90’s shows.

It wouldn’t exactly be accurate to say that I dislike Archer because I liked him fine in some episodes, but the fact that he’s definitely my least favorite of the main cast is irritating given that he’s the main character. Whenever T’Pol takes command of Enterprise, I find her so much more fun to watch as the captain than I do Archer.

I wouldn’t say that Enterprise season 1 has a higher proportion of bad episodes compared to the first seasons of Voyager, DS9, and especially TNG, but it does have a higher proportion of boring episodes – episodes that aren’t actively bad but that I just found myself having almost no interest in. This is 90% of the reason I took so long getting through the first season.

I’d also like to specifically complain about all the episodes that made it seem like Travis or Hoshi was going to be a major part before switching them out for Trip or T’Pol or even Malcolm at the last second. I thought the sidelining of the characters of color in Voyager was bad, but it’s even worse in Enterprise so far.

And I’d also like to complain about the episode Shadows of P’Jem which tricked me into thinking Shran would be a major part of it only for him to be in like three scenes. I can’t believe how few episodes he’s in, everyone made it sound like he was a much more major character. :(

I already complained about the Trip pregnancy episode, but I’d also like to complain about the Risa episode which was both bad in the normal ways for a Risa episode and also incredibly transphobic.

Idk what I think about Trip/T’Pol yet (I could go either way depending on how things progress), but at least it isn’t Archer/T’Pol. Every single time the writers tried to force a Moment between them was painful.

Overall opinion: I didn’t hate it! I half expected to hate it, so that’s good. So far, nothing has particularly grabbed me, but it’s significantly better than I expected, I think! I’m hoping season 2 has fewer boring episodes.

^ first ever mention of men love orphans in the tags of this post. my own joke still makes me laugh tbh

men love orphans is a concept I developed to help me describe some of the dynamics I was witnessing in alibooks/hetromance, and then I started to see it everywhere. it also synthesized some other ideas I'd been working on for a long time. I'm going to give some context, pin down the explanation of the concept, and then apply it to LDPDL. okay let's go!

I first identified the idea of dadgender in the character of Joel thelastofus: someone who defines themselves completely by their relationship to a child, a dependent, someone to take care of. this idea was really compelling to me; it's obviously not new in tlou or my imagination but it connected well with my John theories and my general fascination with how men operate within and react to the patriarchy.¹

as I read more Ali novels and other hetromances, I began to notice a trend. many, many of the main women characters were orphans, or otherwise abandoned or unloved by parents/family. this is nothing new in literature - Harry Potter is the most obvious example, but there's plenty of writing about the allure of being an orphan, how it frees you from the family ties that might keep other heroes from their fate, etc. it's a very simple and straightforward tragic backstory. my whole goal with AHU is to interrogate the choices Ali makes in her books, and to respect those choices as legitimate, intentional, and deserving of analysis. so once I noticed this, I wanted to figure it out. off the top of my head: olive, bee, elsie, rue, and misery are all orphaned or have one dead parent and a difficult relationship with their surviving parent. family is rarely a significant plot point; it serves only as color and tragic backstory. now, of course, rey starwars is an orphan. rey is famously the original aliheroine, the first character she wrote fic about. one of the biggest reylo scenes in tlj is kylo negging her about being an orphan. ali does gradually distance her own orphans from rey,² but she is really only reinventing it. the loneliness, the isolation, the feeling of being unloved and unloveable, is a constant for all the girls. it is essential that these girls be "orphans" to the varying degrees that they are, in order to facilitate the fantasy.

and what is that fantasy? well, it depends who you ask. the fantasy is the attractive validation of looking after something small, weak, needy. taking care of someone. or, the fantasy is being taken care of, your hurt being acknowledged and treated seriously. the "who did this to you" trope is about protectiveness, yes, but it's also about someone seeing that you got hurt and that it matters! or, the fantasy is about daddy kink going both ways: a woman who needs a strong older man because she was abandoned by her father, but also a man who needs the affirmation of "fatherhood" to feel good about himself. dadgender!³

men love orphans is all of this, and in alibooks it manifests in some specific ways. as mentioned above, there's the literal orphanhood of some of the girls. there is also the control aspect, manifesting in the repeated fantasy of being locked up and treasured and used. another repeated fantasy is found family: that a woman would find not only an adopted father in her lover, but also a new cadre of loveable misfits to belong to as well. Eli has his coworkers and little sister, levi has a best friend and a goddaughter, Jack has useful colleagues and Adam and olive, and lowe, of course, has his literal wolfpack.

AS FOR LDPDL, I think that iwtv plays with men love orphans tropes in some fun and creative ways. when lestat is courting Louis, it's not because he's pathetic and vulnerable. it's actually sort of the opposite; he's attracted to his rage, initially, and his slippery sexy unforgettableness. lestat brings louis down on purpose, systematically taking away everything he loves, in order to draw him into vampirism. but i think the distinction is important; lestat doesn't want to actually take care of a needy man, he just wants to create circumstances where he will be needed. I say all that with the caveat that our version of their early relationship is canonically based on louis' recollection of the time. not that I think our gorgeous princess would ever lie to us, but, well, that is sort of the point of the show. all that being said, I think the turning Claudia scene (both versions) has strong men love orphans themes in multiple directions. Louis is experiencing a strong dadgender moment, needing Claudia to live in order to validate his own existence, but he is also using his own terror and despair to compell his daddy (lestat) into saving this sad and needy thing (Claudia). that goes all the way back around to this post and the idea that a husband-daddy can give you not just his own love and care, but also an entire family. rich text!!!

and loumand: I think that the show is always contrasting the two relationships and the way Louis falls headfirst into both, headed straight for the megalodon headless of consequences, etc. and I think he is partially repeating the patterns of above. in Paris he is more actively pathetic, and Armand does get off on that, but the thing that is so thrilling about loumand is they're sort of doing Tetris to each other. like, "yes, maitrê" scene. no one has painted me for centuries. the obvious constant back and forth seesaw of power and control in Dubai, and the occasional reminders that that seesaw is itself a fantasy to keep Louis mollified. anyway. what I'm saying is a) loumand crazy b) they're sort of doing nesting dolls men love orphans but it never ends c) with the slight variation that any external "family" is treated as an existential threat and terminator'd. 

ultimately, I think that any relationship with a power dynamic could have some amount of men love orphans going on in some direction. I definitely love to put the goggles on. I love that straight women (and anyone else) can make anything hot as a cope. great time to be alive if you love seeing what makes other people horny

So I was wondering, what materials do you use for your traditional drawings (all the stuff from sketch to final piece)?

For the sketchbook pages, I mainly stuck to these materials though ^^ these guys are my…

PRIMARY MATERIALS

The green mechanical pencil on the picture on the left has 0.7mm colored lead in it! I alternate between blue and pink colored leads depending on what fits the overall color of the piece better.

Once I finish up the sketch, I line it with the black pilot ballpoint pen! I really like the control and feel of ballpoint pens for traditional lineart, because it gives a sort of variety in pressure I can’t seem to achieve with normal fineliners. I like to switch up the colors of the lineart too sometimes, hence the pink and red ballpens.

Then once the linearts done, I color them in with the stabilo highlighters, as pictured on the right! These guys are my FAVORITES. Sometimes when I’m just freely sketching I use the grey or peach mini stabilos. Although, they do tend to be a bit runny, ‘cause they’re meant for quick highlights and not multiple strokes over an area ^^; so you do have to be careful and quick when coloring with them to get an even coat of color!

SECONDARY MATERIALS

Pictured above are all my alcohol based markers! The four on the left are neon sharpies for when I need that extra eyestrainy kick. The three promarkers with the pointy cap were from when I was a freshman in uni and wanted to collect a full set of alcohol markers, but these were the only colors they had in stock and the college supply store ✌️ I’ve since given up on that dream because they were really expensive ;; they’re really good for sunny grassy scenes though! The last dark blue marker was from a set of other blue markers, but the others have since dried out… I use it when I really wanna darken up a page, like for night scenes!

This is my prismacolor set! I like to pair these with the markers, going in after the initial layer of color to give a bit of variety or shine. Some examples of when I use them would be for adding blush or giving hair a glossy sheen 👍

I use these when I really just wanna scribble something down wildly. I had these since I was in gradeschool and its quite frankly a miracle they still work? Oh, and the red and yellow twistable crayolas are missing because I vaguely remember giving them to some childhood friends for some reason 🤔

My fineliners and gellyrolls! Haven’t used these much recently tbh. I’d used them for class before, but I never really likes how flat the thickness tends to be :/ the brush tips and chisel tips are cool though. I used them for that one yellow bdubs doodle to try and see if my opinion of them has changed ^^ it hasn’t. Moving on…

Lastly, we have the special materials! The ones that don’t really go into any sets, or have nice applications. In order from left to right:

Wink of Stella - A brush pen that applies glitter through some sort of black magic. No idea how she works but I love her

Red Marvy Art Director 1400 - A red fine tip marker. Can’t go wrong with a bright red marker 👍

Golden Posca - My only posca marker. Figured if I should get one it might as well be something special.

Faber Castell Blue Highlighter - I use this alongside the stabilos. It has a really nice deep blue color ^^

okay so similar to the mikasa ones, here are all the ones for eren and my thought processes behind them!

i think men’s fashion tends to be a little less versatile than women’s fashion by a long shot, so i think there’s definitely a lot less diversity and variation between my eren’s compared to my mikasa’s! i think each of my mikasa’s have a specific “aesthetic” whereas my eren’s more so have more of a color palette/vibe to their style because i think there’s only so much you can do with men’s clothing tbh unless you’re aiming for a super curated aesthetic (e.g. cowboy eren)! so i think they’ll have a lot of overlap tbh, but this is kind of how i envision them all! and again i’ll include the moodboards i’ve made previously!

i think dol eren and mikasa both have this very “boy next door” and girl vibe to them, like i don’t wanna call them “basic” per se, but it’s a very sort of typical and like almost expected vibe you’d expect of average 24 year olds. for eren, since he works a more physically demanding job, i imagine him being a very casual person. i also just see most guys being casual in general, so wearing a lot of like solid/vintage graphic tees and then whatever random bottoms on a day to day basis if he’s not doing anything special! i imagine the only time he dresses up is when he goes out with mikasa, because she’s the only person who he cares to really impress (hence the chapter about their date), so he’d have some nicer clothes for when he has nice things to attend, but they’re only reserved for things like that!

i see him wearing the most of: t-shirts, hoodies/sweatshirts, the occasional nice button up. idk dol eren would be uniqlo if he were a brand. he is a GOOD QUALITY, LOYAL, and DEPENDABLE! when has uniqlo EVER done you wrong??? like it’s simple but it’s tried and true man, for good reason!!!

bodyguard eren is a casual guy but he’s like the emo version in my head lol. like bodyguard mikasa’s colors in my head are red/pink/white, and bodyguard eren’s are black/green/grey—he wears a lot of darker colors essentially! mikasa obviously is the more fashion forward one in this relationship, and eren is def more casual lol, he basically just wears all black or some variation of a neutral outfit bc he’s a very simple and apathetic man lol, he doesn’t really care. but similar to how eren inspires mikasa to dress more casual, mikasa would def play ken doll with eren and buy him clothes lol, so i think he’d dress up a bit more too! but i don’t think she’d ever force him to wear anything he didn’t like, i just think eren dresses casually bc it’s simple and easy, and he’s just a laxxed man.

he would be converse bc i see him begrudgingly taking his shoes off when mikasa pisses him off and he’s struggling to get them off in ample time bc they’re high tops lol

okay after model eren, i think e2l eren is the second best dressed, and this is solely because him and mikasa were together for so long LOL, she played build a boyfriend! like his style comes from her! but eventually after being together so long he does sort of develop his own sense of style but like the foundation of his style IS mikasa. so i think his style kinda emulates the same kind of vibe as hers, idk how that translates in male description. he would dress up a little more than some of the other eren’s and probably wear a bit more color too! def has that vacation-y vibe too. also e2l eren is a graphic designer, so he has that artsy boy vibe to him a bit too!

he’d be zara bc mikasa definitely introduced him to zara while they were dating lol

model eren to me is obviously the BEST DRESSED out of all the eren’s, like this is an obvious given. he’s a model! of course he’s gonna be the most fashionable! to me, he screams pretty boy lol, so he’s going to dress and act accordingly lol. it’s one of the main things that mikasa also makes fun of him for too. so i think of his style as very tailored, very classic, but also some fun and a bit more stylized pieces! i think he would wear a little bit of everything, so he would dress super fancy some days, but then have some more casual pieces too! but then once he kind of stays in montana with his family, he’ll def kind of his model mikasa moment and have the little bit of cowboy flare to his style a bit too!

he would be all saints! or some niche expensive brand im probably too poor to afford

academic rivals eren is kinda my favorite to talk about bc he’s kinda funny LOL he’s basically frat boy adjacent and it makes me giggle. he’s literally what you’d think of when you’d think of an obnoxious little frat boy in the most stereotypical way (not in the board shorts and polos way tho omg), although he isn’t technically one! his style is definitely pretty casual, so he’d definitely wear a lot of t-shirts and flannels, but since he’s a bit well off, i think he’d wear a lot of stuff like golf wang and more expensive sneakers! i see eren as kinda basic tbh lol he’s a simple man but i think he’d have his occasional indulgences lol (and golf wang stuff is SO comfy). he’s just your tried and true college boy in my opinion!

he would be golf wang & converse (but not for the reasons stated above).

i won’t lie i feel like this one gave me more grief than the one for mikasa did lol like i definitely had to think about it a bit more! men’s fashion is way harder to me so i had to be a lot more considerate about each eren and their vibes, but this was fun!

This is a big question to answer and tbh I'm not sure how to properly answer. Because I just..draw..I don't think too much. But first of course I pick an idea. Then I make doodles or, if picture in my head is clear but I can't get the angle for the composition, I make a simple 3d model

then I make a sketch

Clip Studio has a very handy perspective ruler that helps A LOT. I didn't figured fisheye one, but regular one is saving my day! Then I make lines and basic colors. It's already 16+ hours on this pic at this point XD

And then.. well I do shading, idk how to describe this process T_T Currently I try to learn how to make minimum shading, but it worked out only once. I add details along the way, depending on the story on the picture and collecting refs. And often change stuff on the layers above the line!

Glinda and Chris ( girl in white) was in the process of ordering clothes, because Chris got his body changed from male to female and he had 0 idea what to order. New Ninjago OC just dropped

I wanted to try to make an Elemental Master of emotion but good lord i STRUGGLED with this design XD. I wanted to make it colorful and stand out, but balancing the literal rainbow in a design without making the colors an eyesore was hard. I managed to settle on this black and white outfit with hints of color and tbh i’m hella proud of it!

Say hello to Pathy, the Elemental Master of Empathy/Emotion. She is 19 years old and goes by she/her. She’s autistic and has a special interest in psychology and how brains work so she can better understand her abilities and how to use them. Her favorite media is Scott Pilgrim and she lowkey has a crush on Ramona Flowers (you can see the influences on her design lol)

For her personality, I imagine that she mimics the emotions of those around her as a point of reference since she herself has a hard time emoting and expressing herself. this doesn’t mean she doesn’t feel things, she does have feelings of her own the problem for Pathy is that she knows there are very certain expectations for how a person should react in certain situations and due to being autistic sometimes she tends to have the “wrong” response from what is expected. When the situation calls for it, she will break out of this in order to act in the way she feels is best, but usually goes back to being an emotional chameleon afterwards.

she wants to make friends but has a hard time doing so due to only unmasking when absolutely necessary. People rarely ever get to know the real her, usually just whatever mask she’s wearing to keep herself from being ridiculed or ostracized. Sometimes apathy wonders if she even knows who she is without the mask, and cue identity crisis.

Her powers let her harness the powers from emotions she’s feeling or those around her are feeling. She can “pull” them from others or “push” certain emotions onto others. In doing so, she’s able to turn emotional energy into something physical that gives off the effect of the emotion she’s harnessing. I’ll make a seperate post explaining how for each emotion!

Another ability her powers give her is that her eyes change color depending on what she herself is feeling or the emotion she’s harnessing. Yeah, this is where Inside Out became an influence on her design. While she externally expresses an emotional response that is expected of her or that is following the crowd, her eyes usually give away what she’s truly feeling. as a result, she tends to wear sunglasses in areas with a lot of people. She also has a sort of 6th sense that allows her to see other people’s eyes change based on their emotions like hers can. She knows it’s just a her thing though.

HOW EPITHETS WORK:

BASICALLY ive come to the conclusion that depending on how general or specific a word is when it comes to an Epithet, the more 'powers' you have (which ive deducted is part of the creativity portion of the epithet reveal card)

For example, if you had an Epithet thats very specific to one thing, like Blizzard, Barrier, etc, you can only do that one thing and thats your whole deal. But if the word is way more general, like Winter, Protection, etc, the more the person can do.

I also dont think hyphenated words count for Epithets, since its technically a 2 in 1? Which I would say isnt fair, but then again Zora is super fucking op for no reason. But I do doubt that someone could get Immortality as their epithet.

I think in the lore you're born with your Epithet, but the way the "word tied to your soul" thing works is kind of like a Witch's bile sac in TOW (with the sac being the word you get your magic from)

FOR THE EPITHET REVEAL CARDS:

I've done a fair share of thinking and eventually came to a few conclusions that all depend on both DND stats and common sense

Proficiency: Strength, Molly made a comment abt Mera and Indus having REALLY high Proficiency, Id i were to look at this from a dnd perspective, Proficiency is a bonus to one skill, which doesn't exactly make sense in the context

Stamina: How long you can last in battle, this just feels obvious tbh

Creativity: I'm torn on this one, cuz I'm thinking its either how many moves a person with an epithet can have OR how interesting/how much thought is put into their movesets. But im leaning more towards the second option since my first theory i technically disproved myself

ERASER CUFFS:

Ok im gonna be honest, the whole way Eraser cuffs work is stupid. Just.... forgetting the Epithet? That raises more questions then answers for me, the ending of episode 7 shouldnt have been possible considering what couldve happened in episode 5 (when Mera and Indus got arrested)

And how does Percy remember her Epithet stamina??? Look, I understand RAMSEY remembering HER Epithet, but I think I have a better idea;

Basically, the cuffs click onto your wrists (feels like a spike color) and it locks off your Epithet until the cuffs come off. After that its a few minute delay to get your Epithet flow back, since its connected to your heart and normally body parts take a while to get blood circulation if cut off, Epithet circulation is gonna be like that too.

"BUT NOAH!!! IF THATS YOUR LOGICAL REASONING WHAT ABT THE ARSENE AMULET?"

For me; it'd work in a similar way, its just that when the cuffs are removed your Epithet comes back. In the case of the Arsene amulet, I say an Epithet user gets their cool powers sucked out from the chest area (Mera did that with Slyvie in ep 4) and then the sac, and the word in it just- schwoop! Gone!

Of course, because of plot, you can get it back. But I have a feeling it has a limit on how many Epithets it can hold before it expells yours. And also before your body just- straight up deflates/gives out from all the Epithets. Pretty sure you can only handle ONE considering it's a ONE WORD ABILITY!!!!!!!
