The adventures of Eddie Munson, jerk
Written for the @steddiemicrofic challenge January 2024 edition
Prompt: hole, 404 words
Rated: T
Tags: modern AU; meet cute; HOH Steve Harrington; Eddie "foot in mouth" Munson; Eddie being a horny shit
Notes: based on this idea I posted a while ago. I'd link it, but alas, the tumblr search function sucks. I'll add it when I find it I guess. (Edit: found it!)
Ping.
Eddie's about to commit homicide in an airport terminal. Walk over to that asshole with the laptop and throttle him with the cord. Bury him in a shallow hole, chuck his beeping hell machine right-
Okay, breathe.
He's overreacting. The guy's an inconsiderate jerk, but he doesn’t deserve to be murdered. Eddie's just a bit on edge ‘cause he got up at ass o'clock and now his flight is delayed and his neck is hurting from the plastic chairs and his phone is dying and-
Ping.
Okay, that's it.
Eddie stomps over, propelled by rage and too many energy drinks.
“Hey, asshole!”
Laptop jerk just continues typing. So he thinks he can ignore him, huh? Eddie reaches him just as the laptop dings again, grabs him by the shoulder.
“Hey, dickhead, I'm talking to you.”
Laptop jerk flinches so hard he nearly sends his device flying, head whipping up and-
-shit, he's cute. Big, hazel eyes full of shocked confusion under a swoop of chestnut hair. Perfect, pouty lips parted in surprise. Eddie has a sudden impulse to wrap a hand around the curve of that throat, drop his voice, tell him to say sorry like a good boy.
Which would be … wildly inappropriate.
“Listen,” he says instead. “Your beeping is annoying the living hell outta me, so-”
Something is pressed into his hand. Something rectangular and plasticy, like a business card.
“What the fuck?” Eddie mutters, lifts it so that he can read what it says.
Hi, I'm Steve. I'm hard of hearing.
Wait, what?
Eddie's eyes flit back to laptop jerk's face. He's smiling, but there's a distinct undercurrent of confusion and concern. Like he doesn’t know why Eddie's so angry, which is true of course, because he can't fucking hear, has no idea what he did wrong and fuuuuck, who's the jerk now?
That shallow hole still sounds tempting, just for entirely different reasons.
“Erm, it's just …” he starts, more slowly now, those pretty eyes following the movement of his lips. “I've been wondering if maybe …”
Steve tilts his head.
"... you'd wanna have coffee? My flight's delayed and-”
If the curl of Steve's mouth is anything to go by, he knows exactly that this isn't what he wanted to say.
He nods anyway.
By the time Eddie’s flight lifts off, his phone is dead, but there's a sticky note with a number tucked into his pocket.

No Caller ID
Your job at The Agency was simple. In fact, there was only one rule: Don’t lose track of your field agent. Unfortunately for you, Agent K is a difficult man to find.
warnings: agent!sakusa x handler!reader, international espionage, i was going for a james bond vibe, no graphic violence but there is a teeny bit of violence, hq! cameos that aren’t important to the story but i thought were fun to include, open ending i think, flirting (???), honestly freeform, i wrote this in 1 sitting lol, sfw, 1.8k words!
You’re on a date the first time he calls you.
The guy you’re out with is nice. Doesn’t interrupt you. Asks about your day. Laughs at all your jokes and pretends not to look down your shirt while the two of you eat. He works in IT, so you know he’s fairly well-off, too.
It’s too bad this is just to keep up appearances.
Your phone rings with no caller ID and you have to stop your eyes from bulging out of your head. In this line of work, it’s best to keep personal calls separate from ongoing projects. For organization reasons. For safety precautions.
It’s for this reason that you have two cell phones. The first is for private calls, to keep up with the life your current alibi would be living. The second phone is for The Agency.
And you’ve never received a call from your second phone before.
You excuse yourself from the table with a practiced smile, adjusting your clothing as you stand. Your date nods. Understanding, as expected. He didn’t notice that you took your purse with you. He must think you’re coming back.
Exiting the restaurant, you pick up the phone with a nervous hand, unsure of what to expect, “This is Pluto speaking.”
“Pluto? Who the fuck is that?” A man’s voice grunts, panting loudly and very obviously out of breath, “What happened to Rin?”
You clear your throat, “Rin has since left The Agency. I’m Pluto, his replacement.”
“That bastard. You’ve gotta be fucking kidding–” Sharp pops echo through the speaker. Possibly gunshots. The cursing that follows suggests that those were most likely gunshots. Everything is so loud.
“Agent K, if you’re requesting for backup, I can send over the twins–”
“Absolutely not. No backup, especially not from them.” Based on proximity, you can tell it’s K who fires next. Two quick rounds, followed by two dull thuds. Bullseye? “Everything is under control. Get me to Croatia before midnight tomorrow.”
The call ends.
The second time he calls you is to complain about the first time.
You defend yourself with all the aggression of a caged circus bear.
K quickly learns not to complain about your work.
Two months pass.
Your job at The Agency was simple.
Fortunately, there was only one rule: Don’t lose track of your field agent.
Unfortunately for you, Agent K is a difficult man to find.
“Pick up, pick up, pick up!” You scream into the phone. You’ve combed through the security feeds of every private business, traffic cam, and ATM machine, but still no sight of him.
The ringing stops, an easy voice floating through the phone, “Hello?”
“Why the fuck aren’t you in Buenos Aires?” You all but yell, “I’ve been searching for you for hours.” It’s silent on the other end of the receiver. You continue your verbal assault, “Are you even in Argentina? In South America at all?”
K snorts. “Where do you think I am?”
You’re furious, “How did you leave the airport without me knowing? I booked your tickets myself. I made the passport you’re using–”
“Don’t worry about it.” He cuts you off, “Do you really want to know where I am?”
His tone calms you, just long enough to answer, “Yes.”
“A baby shower.”
“A… baby shower?” You repeat dumbly.
“Well, I’m not physically at the baby shower, that would be a breach of contract. I’m sitting in an unmarked car, about 100 feet from the festivities. Watching my little sister open her gifts. She doesn’t even know I’m here.” He sighs, and it’s so different from anything else you’ve heard from him. “Nobody does.”
People who do what K does rarely ever have families. Alive, that is. You wonder how old he was when he left home, if his parents know what he does for a living. If they even know he’s alive.
Instead you ask, “Will you be having a niece or a nephew?”
He chuckles to himself, but it’s humorless. Empty. “That’s what I’m waiting to find out. I think the reveal is after they cut the cake. My sister is greedy enough to make everyone wait.”
You’re silent for a moment, at a genuine loss of words. The silence feels comfortable, and whether you’d like to admit it or not, you’ve gotten attached to Agent K. Fond, even. Just knowing he’s on the other end of the line, alive and breathing and not being shot at, gives you an enormous sense of relief.
You stare into the monitors ahead of you, at the sheer number of tabs you’ve opened, the energy you expended to make sure he’s safe.
“How did you get into this line of work?”
“Me?”
“Yes,” you can hear the sarcasm dripping from his voice, “You.”
Nobody has ever asked you that. Nobody is allowed to ask that, you think. “I had an internship the summer after I graduated. My boss at the time has some sort of connection to The Agency. She said I should apply and that she’d put in a good word. My interview was the next day, and I was officially hired by the end of the month.”
It’s silent for a beat, “You do realize you failed the test, right?”
“Excuse me?”
“You aren’t supposed to divulge any personal information to me or any other agents,” He quips, “Especially not any information regarding The Agency.”
“Well,” You start, “You aren’t supposed to run away from missions and lie to your handler about where you are!”
K laughs. An actual laugh. “Touche. Though I’m not running away from anything. This is simply… a brief layover.”
“Whatever. I’ve already booked you a flight from Hyogo to Buenos Aires.”
“You’re sharp, Pluto.” There’s pleasant surprise in his voice, and pride flares in your veins at having caught him off guard, “How’d you know I was in Japan?”
“Don’t worry about it.” You repeat his own words back to him, “Your flight leaves at 8:30PM, Japan Standard Time. Think you can make it by then?”
“Yes, ma’am.” K huffs, “Is that all?”
“Yeah,” you say, “And I’ll be sure not to include this ‘brief layover’ in my reports.”
“Thank you.” He says, and you can tell it’s genuine. For a moment, you feel appreciated, before he adds, “And from now on, please refrain from using fishing boats as a means of escape.”
“Give me enough of a heads up and I won’t have to.” You fight back a smile, recalling your first encounter, and the angry call you got 16 hours later, “But if you ever lie to me again about where you are, I’m leaving you stranded.” It’s a lie. In reality, if it came between you and him, you’re the expendable one.
“Deal.” He confirms, “Oh, and, Pluto?”
“Yes?”
“It seems like I’ll be having a niece.”
These days, your phone never stops ringing. Your second phone, that is.
“Where are you?” He preens through the phone. It’s the last question you’re expecting. You’re at a cocktail dinner for your job. The fake one. The one that The Agency placed you at to keep up appearances.
“Company dinner. Is there anything I can help you with?”
You’ve leaned over the balcony, nursing something with too much sugar and not enough alcohol. The venue is beautiful, probably some millionaire’s summer home, resting on a lavish hill and overlooking the ocean. The party blazes loudly behind you, a stark contrast to the stillness of the sea.
“Yeah. There is, actually.” He decides, “What are you wearing?”
“Excuse me?”
“Your clothes.” His voice is so smooth, sentences dancing off his tongue like a lullaby. “You’re wearing a purple dress, right? Say, is that silk?”
Your breath catches in your throat, your body suddenly alert at the implication of being watched, “Yes,” you find your voice again, making subtle movements to analyze your surroundings, “It was my mother’s.”
He hums, and part of you can hear a smirk in his voice, “Thought so.”
It bothers you that you’ve no clue what he looks like. How many times have you run into him without knowing? K was one of the most talented of this generation, able to adopt and shed identities as if they were clothing, able to blend into any crowd at any time, more dangerous than any traditional weapon. How many times has he been a friendly face on the street, a shadowy figure at the bar, and you simply had no idea?
“On your left.”
A man approaches you, dressed handsomely in a well-tailored suit. Shaggy orange hair falls into his bright eyes. His footsteps are quiet, practiced, holding a corsage in his right hand.
Without sparing a moment, he transfers the flowers from his grasp to yours before spinning on his heels and disappearing into the crowd once again. Your words die in the back of your throat.
The corsage is simple, but pretty. Purple petals to compliment your dress. Tied around it is a small gift box. You return your attention to the phone, “What’s this?”
“A thank you.” He says, “And an apology. And something else. Open it.”
You do. It’s a cartier bracelet, thousands of dollars worth of gold. You flip it over to find your name engraved into the metal. Your real name. You gasp.
“Congratulations on the promotion.” He says your name so differently than anyone has ever said it. You trace the letters in your palm, just faint enough that only you would notice. Just faint enough that you could keep it, and not have it jeopardize your position.
“Just doing my job.” You conveniently left out that the company celebration was for you. Well, you and the five other people who received promotions this quarter. Of course K would find out.
”Don’t get smart with me,” He groans, “But consider it an apology as well. I would have loved to be there with you tonight. You’re brilliant, and I’m lucky to have you on my team.”
You idly watch the yachts float by, some illuminated with neon lights, and some brightened with floodlights. If you squint, you can make out the fishing boat just barely kissing the shore. And the shadowy figure perched upon it.
“Don’t feel bad,” You hum, “Something tells me you aren’t too far off.”
“Goodnight, Pluto.”
“Goodnight, K.”
The call ends.
You clip the corsage around your wrist and return to the party.
i though this would be a fun little story! ok bye love as always, niko ♡

Mall Dreams
i have these recurring dreams about a mall. it's similar to my local mall but much bigger and extremely different in layout. I seem to find new locations every time i dream about it, and i just wanted to put it into words so i don't forget. It feels liminal despite being full of people. the people themselves are always in my peripheral vision, like blurry shadows that seem to disappear when i get close, or stay if they're impeding my progress somehow. sometimes i speak to them, but i never remember what exactly they say. the whole style of the mall appears to be similar to the actual mall i go to. mostly white and beige, tiled floor, and glass ceilings to let the light in on the upper floors.
some key locations are: - the 2 floor gaming store: a shop with a red and white colour scheme that sells mostly xbox 360 games and accessories, with a dark bottom floor i don't recall ever going to. - the giant arcade: bigger than the arcade in my actual local mall (which is pretty big). large entrance with glass windows spanning almost the whole arcade. often extremely dark, a cafeteria type area on the far left side, crane and prize games on the right. in the middle is assorted skill based or leisure games like basketball, and some other weird unknowable games only understandable in a dream. this arcade always features at least 1 version of DDR, usually multiple machines. i am almost always much worse at DDR in this arcade than i am when i'm awake. crane machines once had moomin merchandise inside. one time it was closed and the whole place was pitch black save for a few spotlights. - the clothing store: a store that sells clothes. brightly lit with high ceilings and a black and white mid 2000s chic look to the logo and walls, whatever my brain thinks that means. thin black lines and flower designs. sells makeup stuff, clothes, and sometimes giant stuffed animals. has an escalator going to an upper floor - The ice cream shop: an ice cream shop. darkly lit with a mostly red colour scheme, sells ice cream and milkshakes too, although i have never been able to acquire anything from this store due to lack of funds. - The window: the back entrance of the mall, always brightly lit with sunlight coming into the mall through the window. i think there's a pretzel shop around here somewhere, but i can't find it. banks and other back of the mall places live here. the exit leads to a car park. the car park has no cars parked. reminds me of an airport. - The platform: somewhere in the middle of the mall. a circular platform one can walk on on the second floor. tiny escalators allow access from the main mall floor to the platform. there are no railings to stop you from falling through to the bottom floor. very unstable. it shifts under your weight.
Key characters: the gaming store guy: works at the 2 floor gaming store, very friendly and lets me look around even if i'm not buying anything. offered to show me the lower floor. i can't remember if i went down there or not. the ice cream shop worker: works at the ice cream shop. a stickler for dream rules as evidenced by my inability to buy ice cream with insufficient funds. the pursuer: i don't know who this man is. in my most recent dream he stalked me through the mall. i don't recall anything becoming of it but it made me uneasy. the guy on the DDR machine who just won't leave: actually this is more like multiple people, but in my mall dreams that have featured DDR, more than once has there been someone playing on the machine making me unable to play myself. when i do get a chance to play, the Dream Anti-Gravity™ kicks in and i suck at the game.
I really like my mall dreams. Would probably make a good game.

@creative-sparx replied to your post “science fantasy is such a hard genre to be into...”:
The magic system in Diane Duane's Young Wizards series is handled very much like a science with many different categories, grounded mostly in the concept of entropy I believe; I would say it is very much a fantasy using science elements rather than science fiction using fantasy. As a bonus, Diane is a very active and friendly Tumblr user who often engages in the specifics of the system with fans, and has a lot of writing credentials in both fantasy and science fiction.
Now that sounds like something me and my own magic system might be interested in reading.
I think what I'm looking for is not Science Fantasy, (which seems to be just a synonym for science fiction), but Scientific Fantasy.
I want a world where magic is just a fact of the world and is studied like any other science. It's just part of how the world works, as recognized and math'd out as gravity.
So much of Urban Fantasy fucks up the worldbuilding by just slapping a magic system on top of a world that is otherwise exactly like ours. And a world exactly like ours wouldn't exist at all if there were magic. If magic was a TOOL that people could use to SOLVE PROBLEMS, it would be USED to solve problems the same way we would think to use machines and electricity. Those solutions, and the new problems people would discover by using them, would look nothing like our world at all.
In a world that has had access to magic over a long period of time, the kinds of problems you CAN solve, and even the kinds of problems you would THINK OF AS PROBLEMS IN NEED OF SOLVING, would be radically different from the problems our world, and our technology, has developed to deal with.
Long range communication wouldn't be solved by a box with electricity trapped inside it. There would be magical approaches to solving that problem. Okay, MAYBE a crystal tablet that can display information is a good enough idea that someone would think of it. If the world is old enough? Sure, someone has probably figured out that electricity exists and can be used by people who are less skilled or comfortable with magic to solve similar problems, but magic wouldn't just be slapped onto the surface of an otherwise unchanged world. The entire structure of society and the tools it creates and uses would be completely different.
Like Senshi using earth golems as a kind of farmland that manages its own water supply and fights off pests. LIVING HYDROPONIC CONSTRUCTS. That's brilliant.
The entire fucking world would be radically changed in more ways than even a very dedicated worldbuilder could ever really imagine. Public transit could be magic based, even teleportation based. Energy grids could be powered by magic. Something equivalent to an elevator could be done through levitation fields. Shipping could be managed through demiplanes that open in multiple places. Medical science could incorporate magic as a diagnostic tool. With an extreme level of fine control, surgeons could heal incisions or tissue damage without stitches. Magic wouldn't need to be a separate form of education, the basics would just be taught alongside the water cycle or the respiratory cycle.
People would make jokes 20 years after graduating about how mana is the powerhouse of the soul.
THERE'S NO GODDAMN REASON FOR A WORLD WITH MAGIC TO BE LOCKED TO THE AESTHETIC AND TECHNOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT OF MEDIEVAL EUROPE.
Magical constructs could be teleported into orbit for space research. Think of the possibilities of a magic space race! Astromancy wizards summoning familiars on the moon!
There's so much more you can do with a magical setting than mud and castles and dragons and liches and horses. It's FANTASY! FANTASIZE! IMAGINE SOMETHING!
What if instead of meeting in a tavern you were stuck on a 3 hour connecting flight together on a sky train. You meet at the airport on your way to a tourist trap in the fey realm for spring break while working towards a degree in Arcanodynamics, and bond over the fact that it kinda sucks, and that pixiedust pretzel was in no way worth SEVEN gold, and their internship at the alchemical research hospital doesn't pay enough for this shit.

21 for Ryder, 24 for Thyjs, 28 for Jay, 31 for Vijay + 19 for everyone :P
19. are they quick to anger? what sets them off?
Ryder is quick to anger from one second of the other. You need to be careful not to bring it to the top. He's extremely prone to get angry as the rogue AI has major control over him and his emotions. He's aware of it though and always is super anxious to avoid it growing to fast. He doesn't like to be that angry but he can't stop it as he has no full control over it. He knows he can easily hurt people that way, be it just verbal or in the worst case life-endangering for others.
21. their favorite place to be?
In Night City? It is the Afterlife and in his favorite techno shack named 'Hell Bunker' under the Dark Matter building where they often host his favorite rave event 'Chrome Chamber Rave' (it is a head canon). Best rave event in whole NC. You get everything in there: hard beats, thick bass, chains everywhere as decorative elements, cages, neon lights and the music is always accompanied with a laser light show. People show up in various astonishing outfits, it has a big floor and two smaller ones, there's also a whole floor with two different dark rooms as well. If you're already a fan of Totentanz: Hell Bunker is 10x better! – It just depends on your taste in music.
Other places:
Tempelhofer Feld*, Berlin in Germany: When Ryder used to live in Berlin as a teen, he spent most of his free time there watching young Militech pilots train on the tarmac while he was daydreaming of a career as pilot as well. It was his favorite place and all his free time he was able to be outside he spent most of it there. Even when there was no training he just went there, sat down somewhere on the field or even at walkways and watched the clouds and the sky. Alone or with his then boyfriend Tommy. And even today he'S a little obsessed with it. He know every bit of history that happened at the Tempelhofer Field, from the first airship that went of there in 1897, to the history of the former airport there until the opening of the Tempelhofer Park in 2010*. during the 2040s Militech bought most of it and build a training base for pilot there, renovated the old tarmacs and since then it is a military base again with a small part still being accessible for Berlin's citizens as the Berliners loved their park so much that Militech wasn't able to get the entire place.
*Historically it was an area used for military practice, and as a parade ground of the Berlin garrison. It is closely linked to German military and aviation history. Love the thought so I integrated it into his back story. **It covers 355 hectares of the site (former airport, buildings and surrounding land incl), making it the largest inner city open space in the world.
19. are they quick to anger? what sets them off?
Thyjs is not quick to anger. It happens, though. You must be a real idiot and super careless and behave like a complete douchebag for that. If you claim to be a soldier and be of a higher rank than Thyjs and do not care about your mates and play solo – Thyjs will get angry. And he won't stay silent about it. And sore Thyjs … is like a pitbull. You would never think he would turn into this but his words will get loud, angry and they hurt as fuck, but are nothing but the truth.
24. do they have any creative hobbies? (art, writing, music, etc)
Thyjs plays piano. Classical piano. And he's good at this. He also likes to paint, preferably more a style of impressionism (as Van Gogh is his favorite artist). He didn't start painting until his accident so he needs to practice a lot and is in his finding phase. He mostly draws flowers. And he likes to create flower bouquets for it first, so he can draw his own still life. Thyjs loved flowers since he was a little boy, but it all got put aside once the drill started to turn him into a war machine. But now he's not on duty anymore he picks it all up (also his piano play) as sort of his own therapy to compensate his ptsd (and emotional numbing).
19. are they quick to anger? what sets them off?
For Jay it depends on the topic. If it's something he likes and you absolute talk disrespectful about it? He will get angry and literally spit the fitting words right back. He may even start to microhack you for it. Yes it's unfair, but Jay doessn't fucking care.
28. how do they show that they care about someone? how do they express that they don't like someone?
When Jay cares, he also stops being "annoying". When he starts to care about someone it is because he likes them for their character. He will be nicer then, still a bit teasing though. And he definitely will stay at their side if he noticed they have a problem that needs solving (be it simple of difficult). He will lend an ear and offer his help no matter what. Jay will find a way :P And is he doesn't like someone? Again: microhacking, hehe. There's nothing more annoying than getting microhacked, especially when its another netrunner and Jay just knows he's better than the other in it (because he's special for reasons). It's mostly harmless hacks like some tiny cyberware malfunctions, or optic resets but also hacks like 'Murphy' that disrupt cyberdecks for a while causing it to randomly launch all of its applications, until the runner finds the cause. But beware, Jay may find too much joy in it and if he really hates someone for whatever reasons, this little mostly unharmful but annoying microhacking can end up in something more hurtful: Anti-personnel called 'Brain Wipe'.
19. are they quick to anger? what sets them off?
As like his brother, for V it depends on the topic. Vijay is a good soul, he's rarely really angry. Mostly he's just a little more or less upset but really angry? Like Ryder-angry? It is super rare. He may get angry about certain sea live topics and the continuous mass pollution in the ocean that is almost nonreversible. He's got a huge grudge against politics mostly because they do not care about the last remaining nature at all. So if you wanna make him angry, you must be a not caring politician. Oh and he absolutely hates it when Jay microhacks him just for fun. because Jay is one of the very few runners who definitely can bypass his ICE to cause mayhem to his C-Deck. And Vijay absolutely hates it when he gets e.g. Murphy-de or decKRASH-ed. Sometimes Jay thinks his lil' brother spends too much time in cyberspace (he's got a window open while in real life almost 24/7) and then uses decKRASH to drop V out of the net. Vijay gets furious when that happens because he knows it was his evil twin, but he knows Jay only means well for him because V definitely should turn off c-space for a bit as well (Jay is a lot in it as well but not that addicted to be in it 24/7 like V)
31. do they like receiving gifts? giving gifts? what is their ideal gift?
Vijay loves attention, and he loves gifts. Can be just a little thing, a bracelet, flowers, a plastic sea animal or a plush orca, 80s vinyls or just digital art you made for him. Vijay will give you the happiest smile ever.

Janet (a.k.a Yn's stand in): A 20yrs old Omega. She has an uncanny similarity to Yn as in body and looks, she was in trouble with one of the local gang's when Yn and Jolina found her and helped her out. Yn realized that they uncannily look like twins except with different parents which is odd but not unheard of. Since at that time with Yn being 17 almost 18 years old, she asked Janet to watch over her childhood friends Bts so that they could stop searching for her and just to live life. So, after months of teaching Janet self-defense, and how to act like Yn somewhat since it's been a long time since they last saw each other, Yn and Jolina dropped off Janet in the airport heading for South Korea. Once at South Korea airport, she called for a taxi then told the driver to take her to one of the BTS's businesses and the rest is history. She doesn't know that BTS knows that she is not the real Yn but was playing dumb.
HOW SOULMATES/MATES WORK
SOULMATES ARE MATCHES TO THE SOUL AND YOUR FOREVER PARTNER. IT STARTED TO APPEAR 50 YEARS AGO WHEN PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD STARTED HAVING REALLY WEIRD SIGNS ON THEIR BODY. EVERYONE STARTED TO GET SICK SINCE THEY WERE WITH PEOPLE WHO WEREN'T THEIR SOULMATES. A LOT OF PEOPLE DIED FOR BEING STUBBORN ON NOT FINDING THEIR SOULMATES AND STAY WITH THE PEOPLE THEY'VE CHOOSEN. IN ORDER FOR HUMANITY TO KEEP ON GOING THE GOVERNMENT FORCED THE PEOPLE INTO FINDING THEIR SOULMATE OR OTHERWISE BE KILLED IN THE HANDS OF THE GOVERNMENT SINCE PEOPLE WAS STILL BEING STUBBORN THE GOVERNMENT ORDERED THEIR SCIENTISTS TO COME UP WITH A WAY TO KEEP HUMANITY GOING THAT'S WERE ALPHA,BETA,OMEGA COMES IN AND STARTED TO EXPERIMENT WITH THE ANIMAL DNA AND HUMAN DNA TO SEE IF THEY CAN BE STABLE TOGETHER. IT TOOK A FEW YEARS TO GET IT RIGHT BUT THEY FINALLY DID IT AND MADE IT INTO A ONE TIME PILL. ONCE THE GOVERNMENT ORDERED THE PEOPLE TO START TAKING THE PILL AFTER TAKING IT PEOPLE STARTED TO ACCEPT THEIR SOULMATES SLOWLY BUT SURELY. THAT WAS THEN NOW IT'S MORE ACCEPTED AND THE GOVERNMENT EASED UP ON IT DURING THE YEARS SINCE NOW THERE ARE DIFFERENT TYPES OF RELATIONSHIP: SOULMATE, UNIQUE SOULMATE, AND MATES.
ALPHA: THE LEADER TYPE, DOMINANT PERSONALITY, THE MAIN ONES WHO OWNS BUSINESSES DOCTORS, THERE ARE ALPHA'S WHO ARE THE FOLLOWING TYPE BUT NOT IN THE BEDROOM. ALL ALPHA KNOW'S HIGHLY OF THEMSEVLES AROUND THE WORLD EXCEPT SOME STATES IN THE USA RECENTLY BUT SLOWLY MOVING TO OTHER STATES AND SOUTH KOREA.
BETA: SECOND LEADER TYPE WHEN ALPHA IS NOT THERE OR HAS DONE SOMETHING WRONG IN THEIR EYES. MAKING SURE EVERYTHING IS RUNNING SMOOTHLY ANDTAKEN CARED OF. TREATED HORRIBLILY IN THE OTHER STATES THAT IS SLOWLY CHANGING AND AROUND THE WORLD EXCEPT STATES THAT ARE CHANGED AND SOUTH KOREA, THEY GET TO HAVE HIGHER PAYING JOB UNLESS THEY LOVE THE JOB THEIR DOING SO JUST A HIGHER PAY, BETTER HEALTH CARE AND PAID VACATION TIME.
OMEGA: MAINLY TO TAKE CARE OF THE FAMILY AND USE FOR BREEDING. MOSTLY SEEN AS A BABY MAKER, TREATED AS LOWEST OF THE LOW THEY HAVE LOW PAYING JOBS AND SEEN AS TRASH. SOME STATES IN THE USA HAVE CHANGED THEIR LAWS AND VIEWS GIVING FREEDOM AND RIGHTS TO THEM IN OWN THEIR OWN STORE OR BUSINESSES. WHILE THE OTHER STATES ARE SLOWLY CHANGING THEIR LAWS NOT THEIR VIEW. IN SOUTH KOREA OMEGA HAS THEIR FREEDOM AND RIGHTS, THEY ARE SEEN AS EQUALS.
UNIQUE SOULMATES ARE THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE WHICHEVER SIGN THAT WILL HELP YOU FIND YOUR SOULMATE OR SOULMATES OR DON'T HAVE SIGNS, BUT THE ADDED TO IT IS THAT IF YOUR SOULMATE IS AN OMEGA THE OMEGA HAS TO MAKE SURE YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH HER NOT BECAUSE OF THE SIGN BUT BY BEING HER TRUE SELF. DO NOT REJECT A UNIQUE SOULBOND IT WILL KILL THE OMEGA SOULMATE. IF THE SOULMATE DOES NOT HAVE THE SIGN'S OR THE MARKS. THE PERSON HAS TO TOUCH THE PERSON IN ORDER TO MAKE IT CLICK.
MATES ARE THE PEOPLE WHO IGNORE THEIR SOULMATE FOR THE PEOPLE THEY CHOOSE TO BE WITH. NOW THEY DON'T GET KILLED OFF BY THE GOVERNMENT SINCE HUMANITY IS THRIVING AGAIN SO THEY CAN STAY WITH THE PERSON THEY CHOOSEN TO BE WITH. WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE SOULMATES THAT GETS REJECTED? THEY CAN CHOOSE OR WAIT FOR A SECOND CHANCE SOULMATE TO COME.

What are the Future Trends in Airline Technology?
Technology has changed how we travel by plane. Booking flights and checking in has become a lot easier and faster thanks to technology. In the future, even more cool stuff is coming to make flying even better. This article talks about what's next in airline technology and how it could make flying awesome for both airlines and passengers.
Enhanced Passenger Experience
Airlines want to make your experience better. They can use fancy technology like AI to give you more personalized service. For example, they can recommend your favorite food, seat, and entertainment based on your info. This makes you feel special and makes your trip better.
The entertainment on planes is getting better too. New planes have really good screens and offer lots of movies, shows, and music. Some airlines are also trying out cool stuff like virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) for more fun. Just imagine watching a movie in VR or taking a virtual tour of your destination while flying!
Biometric Technology
The use of biometric technology is growing fast in the airline industry. Facial recognition systems are being used in many airports to make check-in and boarding easier. Passengers can just scan their faces at kiosks or gates, which means they don't need to show physical documents and things move faster. This not only makes things safer but also makes traveling less of a hassle.
Biometric security measures like fingerprint and iris scans are also being added to the systems that check passengers' identities. These technologies make sure that only the right people can get into secure areas, making the airport safer overall.
Internet of Things (IoT)
The way airlines work and communicate with passengers is changing because of the Internet of Things (IoT). Smart suitcases with built-in tracking can help travelers keep an eye on their luggage in real time using their phones. This makes it less stressful to worry about lost luggage and makes the whole travel experience better.
IoT devices also give constant updates on flight status, any changes to the departure gate, and if there are any delays. Travelers can get these updates straight to their phones, so they always know what's going on during their trip.
For airlines, IoT is really important for taking care of the planes. Sensors in different parts of the aircraft can keep an eye on how everything is working and spot any possible issues before they become big problems. This helps make flying safer and keeps the costs down.
Sustainable Aviation
The aviation industry is becoming more concerned about taking care of the environment. Airlines are looking for ways to be more eco-friendly and reduce the pollution caused by their planes. One big step they're taking is finding alternative fuels that are better for the environment. These fuels, called biofuels, come from things that can be renewed, like plants.
They don't cause as much pollution as the regular fuels airlines use. Airlines are also starting to use electric planes, which don't cause any pollution at all. Another idea is to make planes out of lighter materials so they don't need as much fuel. This would help the environment and save the airlines money. Some airlines are also giving their passengers the chance to help by supporting projects that make up for the pollution caused by their flights.
Autonomous Technology
Airports are making big changes using new technology. They're using self-driving vehicles for moving luggage and shuttling passengers around. This makes things faster and cheaper. They are also testing out machines to do tasks like fueling planes and handling luggage. This will make running the airport even smoother.
In the future, we might have planes that fly without pilots. It will take some time, but progress is happening. Using more automation can make flying safer and less expensive.
Advanced Analytics and Big Data
The use of fancy math and really big sets of information is changing how airlines do their thing. The math helps airlines plan the best routes and use fuel in the smartest way, which saves money and is better for the planet. By looking at old data, airlines can guess how many people will want to fly and change their schedules to fit.
Having lots of info also helps make customers happy. Airlines can look at what passengers say and do, and then figure out ways to make things better and give special treatment. Like, people who fly a lot might get cool deals and better seats, based on what they've done in the past and what they like.
Enhanced Safety Measures
Safety is super important in the airline industry, and new technology is making it even safer for all of us who fly. There are smart computer systems that can check the airplane sensors and find any potential problems before they turn into big issues. This helps make sure the plane doesn't break down and keeps all the passengers safe.
They're also making better systems to control all the airplanes in the sky. These systems use fancy math and real-time info to plan better routes for the planes and make sure there's not too much traffic, so flying is safer and faster.
The actual planes themselves are getting upgrades too. They're using better materials and cool new tech to make the planes stronger and smoother in the air, especially when it's bumpy.
Blockchain Technology
Did you know that the airline industry is looking into using blockchain technology for different things? One cool thing about blockchain is that it can help keep your info safe when you travel. By especially storing data, airlines can make sure that your info is protected from cyber-attacks.
Blockchain also helps make it easier to buy tickets and handle your luggage. It uses smart contracts to automatically take care of transactions and check that everything is okay, which can help stop mistakes and fraud. Plus, blockchain can make loyalty programs better by giving you a secure way to manage your points and rewards.
5G Connectivity
5G technology is coming to airplanes, and it's going to make a big difference! With 5G, the internet on planes will be much faster and more dependable. That means when you're flying, you'll be able to easily surf the web, watch videos, and stay in touch with friends and family.
Not only that, but 5G will also make it easier for the airplane to talk to the people on the ground. This will help make flights safer and more efficient. And when it comes to watching movies or TV on the plane, 5G will make sure there's less annoying buffering. Plus, you'll get real-time updates about your flight and other helpful info, so you'll always know what's going on during your trip.
Robotics in Airports
Robots are becoming more and more important at airports. They are being used to help passengers and keep the airport clean. For example, robots can guide travelers, give them information about flights, and even carry their bags. They are also used to clean and sanitize the airport, which is especially important now because of COVID-19. Robots with special lights and sprays make sure that the airport is clean and safe.
In the future, robots could do even more at airports. They might handle things like moving luggage, checking security, and delivering food. This would let human workers focus on more complicated jobs.
Conclusion
The future of air travel is being shaped by exciting trends and technologies. From enhancing passenger experiences with AI and biometric technology to improving sustainability with biofuels and electric planes, the airline industry is on the cusp of significant advancements. As we embrace these innovations, the focus remains on safety, efficiency, and providing a seamless travel experience for passengers.
With the integration of IoT, big data, and blockchain, airlines are set to revolutionize their operations and offer unparalleled services. The adoption of 5G connectivity and robotics will further enhance the overall travel experience, ensuring that passengers enjoy a safe, comfortable, and connected journey. As these trends continue to evolve, the future of air travel looks promising, offering new possibilities and opportunities for both airlines and travelers.

Apple Vision Pro harnesses the potential of artificial intelligence to exploit spatial reality
The emergence of Apple Vision Pro has made many people pay attention to concepts such as spatial reality and spatial computing. Many HE Tuber people are also curious about what the future interface experience will be like under the influence of technologies such as XR and artificial intelligence, and what the potential of spatial reality will be. developed. Let’s take a look at the sharing of this article.
2024 is the year when space reality explodes. I will collect some articles about space reality and uncover the hidden experiential knowledge inside.
This article explores a transformative user experience paradigm that goes beyond traditional app-centric interface experiences : spatial memory triggers .
With the Apple Vision Pro release date announced, I thought I'd offer some insights into the future of the human-computer interface (HCI) for this device.
1. Past
My last article on the possibilities of Apple Glass focused on user acceptance and social privacy. This article will be based on how space computers (VR/AR) implement this unique concept, allowing users to browse tasks, communicate, and entertain more intuitively.
In an era where smartphones are king, the era of immersive and direct user experiences has arrived, using gestures to navigate and enhance our access to the digital world.
2. Artificial Intelligence Hardware
One of the problems with these new AI hardware products is the neglect of user experience.
Relying on voice commands to interact with products in public places not only creates privacy issues, but also causes user frustration due to recognition errors, and these demonstrations were not conducted in noisy environments.
Developing hardware devices that make smartphones more intuitive should be our primary goal.
3. So what is my opinion?
Physical object memory association
Retrieve information from previous location
1. Object memory association
After listening to reviews, watching demos, and using the limited battery life, it's clear that the Apple Pro is suitable for indoor use.
As such, Apple Vision has a unique opportunity to give users better access to their tasks, productivity, and content than even the mighty iPhone.
How does he work? Users can associate digital tasks/applications with physical objects in the subjective environment by simply viewing and confirming them.
Examples of related scenarios:
Open the iOS Notes app by viewing real paperwork in context.
Viewing real medicines will automatically open NHS Quick Lookup.
When I look at the light at night I turn on my meditation app and set my alarm clock.
The clock on the wall will direct you to the calendar.
Link your yoga mat to a fitness app to trigger a personalized workout routine.
Bind the water cup to the water monitoring app to remind users to drink water.
Occasionally checking your cat will send you a random photo from 2015.
Turning on the coffee machine at a certain time of day will activate Apple Music Radio.
Books on the shelf open to the latest news.
It doesn’t just start here;
these are models
Users can also start here.
Case 1: Physical book & Safari browser
Observe a physical object in their environment that they associate with the digital task, such as a physical book.
Maybe there will be different patterns and different sensitive times of the day.
Then use voice commands to confirm and cancel throughout the experience.
Not only can users be taken to Safari, but users can also be taken to specific tabs and topics based on their associations.
Case 2: About AirPods Apple headphones
Continue playing a song or doing something unrelated to user settings. For example, resume playing a TV show when you see Airport headphones.
A new symbiosis, using old objects to make old memories and songs.
Possibility below, obviously, is that unless the user changes the association of the physical object with another digital application, not all applications will be displayed at the same time. The simplicity of UI aesthetics won’t overwhelm users and win everyone’s approval.
The premise and analogy here is to use common real-world objects in your environment as a guarantee. Not only storing your tasks and digital assets, but also associating them with physical objects, this is how our memory works.
Seeing an angry person followed by relaxing content, or playing Viking music to match their energy state, may be done at your own risk.
The future should be simple yet rich.
Inspired by memory association functions and phenomena, seeing photo frames of family members allows you to start a WhatsApp conversation with them. This creates a more intuitive and context-aware way to manage communication. Take one look at your desk lamp and immediately resume any unfinished work you left earlier in the day or in other parts of the day. This saves time and effort compared to searching menus.
Objects such as chairs, tables and doors are present in virtually all interior environments, making this concept one that can be explored for years to come.
2. Retrieve information from a previous location
It works slightly differently by retrieving exactly the last task or application used. For example, if you are sitting at the kitchen table in the morning, Vision Pro will recognize this exact location and ask you if you want to open the last 3 tasks you were doing while you were sitting here. A specific website, a specific PPT slide, a song, etc.
Another user sitting on the stairs might reopen their unfinished list of New Year’s resolutions in Apple Notes. Restart a Youtube video from two days ago or open the dialog box of the person you last chatted with.
These concepts are a form of transformation through the Vision Pro experience enhanced iPhone app, reconstructing your collective reality, retriggering memories in the form of digital content, and easier ways to navigate using real objects and environments.
Returning to a specific location in your home may trigger reminders of past events or information related to that location. This helps with learning new skills and recollecting details from previous activities.
When it comes to creativity and inspiration, we have digital folders that hold our inspirational content, but which are rarely revisited. (When was the last time you checked your Twitter bookmarks and Instagram stored photos?) Brainstorming becomes interactive when you can now connect objects in your environment to create different digital inspirations. (Maybe it’s the creative mode switch before 8 a.m., or it’s the content mode at 8 p.m.) Those dynamic interface designs you wanted to copy two years ago are still stored in folders that are already covered with moss.
Moments of serendipity and time travel. Your environment becomes a playground for creativity, inspired by the wonder of the things around you. If the physics object does not occupy its memory, you can check the saved associativity. Opportunity to share these hidden moments with people in your environment who want to try Vision Pro. (Pay attention to privacy settings)
It’s certainly incredible to see the familiar Apple icon menu displayed in such a new dimension on the Vision Pro, however, the introduction of new devices should always be done with the goal of improving the daily user experience.
From the user's perspective, these collections of moments and memories will be gradually created, and through Vision Pro, user productivity will continue to improve and use cases will become clearer. However, how to do this must be carefully tailored.
Eye tracking and the absence of a controller alleviate the mental fatigue of wearing the device. However, easy access to the tasks required can benefit from these insights. This could have a positive impact on early stages of dementia or improve accessibility for people with disabilities. Your environment will become an extension of your digital life, creating a more seamless and integrated experience.

Different people have various needs and one business will not be able to satisfy all of them simultaneously. Several companies will try so that you can differentiate themselves a bit. But it must be stated that altogether, car or truck companies have a pair of separate customer choices: the frequent buyer and the casual visitor. The frequent end user is the one who appears to differences. The recreational user looks for amount.

Time to Galápago-go
Most adventures to the Galápagos Islands begin in Quito, the capital of Ecuador. I spent one full day on a city tour before I left the mainland. We visited two chocolate factories - both complete with samples. Multiple cathedrals and churches. We visited the Virgin of El Panecillo statue, on top to the hill of El Panceillo, with an incredible overlook of the city below. I stood with one foot in each hemisphere at the equator line. The new one. Not the old one. There are two.
The old “middle of the world” monument is a larger structure, but it’s in the wrong spot. The new line has a smaller monument and sign, and it is part of the Intiñan Site Museummuseum. The new line is verified by GPS. My city adventure ended back at the hotel, in time for a briefing and meet and greet with my new friends for the week.
Part 1: Planes, Trucks, Boats, and Money.
Up and early to head to the airport (a 30+ minute drive from the heart of Quito) to catch our 9:00 flight. While flying is generally stressful to start with, flying to the Galápagos adds a second layer of stress. There’s a separate security bag check, and they’ll put these blue zip ties on your bag. You need to obtain your transit control card (TCT), with $20 cash. Both of these methods help to a) maintain and track tourism to the islands and b) ensure there is nothing being brought to the islands that can harm the delicate ecosystem.
Our flight, and many of the flights to the islands have a layover. Or I guess it’s not really a layover, more like a stop. You don’t leave the plane. Some people get off, and some more get on. It’s a great time to stretch your legs and use the bathroom while the plane is parked. 45 minutes later we’re back in the air.
I was surprised to learn there are actually TWO commercial airports in the Galápagos (shows just how much research I did). Aeropuerto Seymour de Baltra, on technically located on Isla Baltra, but adjacent to Santa Cruz. The airport is about 30 miles outside of town, and requires a public bus, to a short boat ride from Baltra to Santa Cruz, and then a longer bus/car/truck ride.
The other island airport, Aeropuerto de San Cristobal, located on San Cristobal is smaller and much closer to town. Less than a mile from the main commercial area, only about a ten minute walk. But if you have bags, it’s a cheap taxi ride.
Inter-island travel can be done by plane, or by boats. Plural. A water taxi to a bigger boat to another water taxi to your destination's harbor. bags are just kind of get tossed on top, or on the back of the water taxis and you just hope they don’t hit a large wake or make a sudden sharp turn because only gravity is holding them down.
Over the course of the trip, I was on eleven different boats. I sat in the bed of three pick-up trucks (all outfitted with little benches and handles), a couple of open buses, and a handful of vans. I think I used a seatbelt once? Maybe twice? It’s not like there is a whole lot of traffic, or any highway driving, especially on Isabela where the roads are made of sand.
Use the ATM. The Galápagos are largely cash-based. While there were more places on Santa Cruz and San Cristobal that accepted credit and debit, there was often an upcharge. Make sure you have cash. There are a decent number of ATMs on Santa Cruz and a couple on Cristobal. There’s approximately one on Isabela and as our guide told us, it’s semi-frequently empty. Ecuador uses the US Dollar as their national currency, so us Americans don’t need to worry about conversion math. Interestingly, they use a lot of dollar coins. I think I had more dollar coins in my waller during my week in Ecuador than I have ever had my hands on in my 25+ years. The only place I really see the coins in the US is a change from a vending machine. I even received a JFK half-dollar coin on the trip. I guess Americans just prefer paper.

Depends where you live too because some airports can have like different themes, can have some displays/items to look at if your character needs to have a reason to explore.
I’ve flown into all of these, and listing for inspiration:
• SeaTac (Seattle, Washington): has a massive display of kids’ art that was turned from drawing into glass art by folks at the Museum of Glass. I think there’s a Chihuly art piece there too.
• Preston Smith (Lubbock): tends to be quiet all the time. A night return can feel like your in Steven King’s “The Langoliers.”
•Rick Husband Memorial (Amarillo): pretty simple design, almost cookie cutter, but I haven’t flown out since before 2001. It has been clearly updated to include a statue of the late 2003 Colombia Shuttle Commander based on photos, and I’d not be surprised if they have a NASA display. This os fitting however - it was 3rd or 4th backup for shuttle landings
• Bush Intercontinental (Houston) - depends on terminal last I visited. A - you basically felt like you were in the 1960s Thunderbirds era, though some art broke that up a bit. B - General big city terminal look, C - it’s basic too and seems to mirror itself, D - the International terminal, is like getting to Oz after a long walk on the Yellow Brick Road. They have amazing restaurants- domestic and international, amazing art and higher end stores.
(I’ll point out I fly out of B regularly, and this one sometimes you must use the tarmac to board. I only know all 4 because I had to be dropped off nearly FIVE HOURS before my flight and had lots of time to explore).
• Memphis International (yes, boring name, Memphis, Tennessee) - I’ve only been in the domestic part. Pretty standard airport but has more local art and food markets. It also has an amazing mini exhibit from the Belz Museum of Asian and Judaic Art (yes it is that name, and given I never can get to the actual museum due to St. Jude events it was a nice treat).
• Dallas Love Field (Dallas) - it’s vastly better now that the Southwest airline hub actually has a wing dedicated for the flights. It’s a pretty stereotypical airport, though it lines up to have a lot of ready to eat food vending machines that offer salads, pasta dishes, wraps, cheddar cube cups, etc. The funniest part is seeing rows and rows of the Southwest planes, which are very brightly colored. You also - when younger - wish or hope to get to fly in one of the specially decorated planes like the Texas flag or sea life. (I think this stopped though)
• Orlando, Fla. - huge Disney store, and really other than that a bit basic. The fun is seeing all the charters to cruise ships and Disney.
• Tampa, Fla. - last time I was there was during spring training for baseball. It’s a pretty standard airport you see on TV from what I recall, but we got to see some Amazing fireworks from the New York Yankees’ training stadium while waiting for our plane last go.
••••••
The only others I’ve been to I haven’t really explored, but Hobby in Houston has a cute little plane made up to look like part of an oil pumpjack along with a bit more NASA display items because it’s closer to NASA than Bush.
The other was an airport in Louisiana served lots of authentic Cajun cuisine. The latter I hated we had a literal 20 minute layover so we co you don’t wait but it smelled very good.
Writing about an airport when I have never actually been through an airport is more challenging than I had imagined it would be.
Bah, it's 2060 right? So if it's not quite accurate, it's fine because it's in the future! 🫣

hi <3 because you have written a lot about angel stuff what do you think about the depiction of heaven facilities in Supernatural, like it should have been like backrooms, like liminal spaces
HIII sorry first of all I’m going to be an annoying pedant about the term “liminal” because it’s an important geographic term. Like from a utility standpoint liminal spaces either facilitate human movement (roads, hallways) or are holding bays while waiting for movement to occur (hospital waiting rooms, airports). Their function is their lack of meaning aside from being a space that connects you to a place of meaning. I think that’s why on an emotional level people often express feeling strange in these spaces, whether it’s via memes about encountering demons in the hallway at 2am or feeling like an unplugged refrigerator in an airport waiting area. You feel “out of place” because the space is designed to be temporary. You don’t go to a sidewalk or road to hang out with your friends, for example!
So like Heaven as a space where angels hang out doesn’t fit that definition very well. We see them using it as a meeting place to talk with another, to observe humans in heaven, to receive punishment after disobeying, and all kinds of other things. It’s a place that has meaning for them that they use for a variety of different things, and it’s also a place they defend as their “home.” I don’t like most depictions of it in the show, but that takes a while to explain beyond the obvious of “it’s kinda lame”
The interesting thing about spn is that it takes the biblical* creation myth seriously while also acknowledging modern understandings of the creation of the universe (the Big Bang is referenced, Cas says he’s on Earth “several billion years after the beginning” that kinda thing), so Supernatural’s sense of temporal and spatial scale is much more vast than the religious history it’s drawing from. As a result angels seem to be a mix of traditional depictions of angels (wings, fire, glowing eyes, swords) and modern knowledge bases (Cas knows physics and calculus, there’s multiple references to them being machines/computers, he describes his true form in reference to modern architecture, “wavelength of celestial intent”, etc).
So like in light of that, I often think of Heaven not as like a three dimensional realm angels go to when they want to gossip with each other (which is how it’s presented in the show) but again as a blend of historical religious myth and modern science. The Halo games actually do this very well - the gods in those games constructed much of the laws of the universe that every living thing operates from, including upper dimensional channels for travelling vast distances. The gods themselves exist kinda like networks that transmit information across spacetime and don’t really exist in 3 dimensional form - think of a brain with much more complex architecture that spans the universe. Like in the same way a shadow is a 2D representation of a 3D object, their 5D “star roads” (transit channels) can sometimes be glimpsed in 3D “shadows” (this is a broad over simplification and I’m pulling from a rusty memory on Halo lore, so some of this is probably inaccurate). Dimensionality is reduced until the human brain can perceive it, and human beings can’t parse data in more than 3 visual dimensions. We can do 4d as long as the forth dimension is temporal (not visual), but even that is pretty difficult. But think of all the data loss in a shadow! How much do you know about an object if you just look at its shadow?
And like given how bizarre angels are, how rare they were prior to their introduction in s4, and how the early seasons especially play with the cosmic horror element of them having to exist on earth, I think it’s maybe not a huge stretch to conceive of them as these vast informational networks and not like discrete bodies that are separate from each other. The Host is the amalgam of all angels, and angels are established in the show to be vehicles for God’s will who carry out orders without question. They are also, again, established to have advanced modern knowledge of things like math and string theory and natural selection. spn is actually a really good study in the naturalisation of religion into state authority, infusing the natural sciences (which are regulated and controlled by government bodies like the academy and scientific agencies) with religious importance, and naturalising religious figures such as angels by positioning them as authorities on science.
Anyway sorry lol this is all over the place. The point I’m trying to make is that, while this is not supported in canon explicitly, I think there’s a decent argument to be made that angels defy descriptions of “existing in a place.” We know their grace and their true bodies are separate things, we know from S8 that Cas can exist simultaneously in both Heaven and on Earth at the same time, and we know angels have the ability to monitor earth (and other places in spacetime) without interacting with it directly. I tend to therefore think of angels and Heaven as these not-spaces, and more like a cluster of information that gathers to exchange knowledge. Heaven is the medium through which that happens, and then angels converse with one another through that medium. They don’t necessarily have to “travel” there because their true forms exist discontiguously from their consciousness, so presumably angels don’t have to physically move their bodies to places in order to interact with other angels. So Heaven also doesn’t have to be strictly physical.
This is where I think spn suffers from its own visual medium. The written word is a lot more effective at communicating incomprehensibility (HDM’s version of angels described them as vast celestial architecture, and you can see giant impossible walls hanging out of their bodies when you look at them from your periphery), and I think that’s also why early seasons Heaven and Hell were a lot more intriguing because they were visually absent from the show. AND, also, the one time we did see Hell in the early season (the shot of Dean waking up in Hell in the s3 finale), it was depicted as an interlocking network of chains, which fucking owns and is partially the inspiration for conceptualising Heaven in a similar way.
—
*using the word biblical as a result of my own limitation of knowledge. I know a lot of the lead writers are Jewish and I don’t mean to downplay that. I also know spn exists in a bizarre intersection of being kinda Catholic and kinda Jewish so I don’t know what the exact appropriate term for this would be.
