17- S. J
synopsis: Sim Jaeyun lived next door to the Kim twins. One day they were planning sleepovers and on the other he was on an airplane moving to Australia. 17 years later, she found a man called Jake standing in her living room. An old friendship rekindles and a new love arises.
Disclaimer: nsfw, there's a lot of smut here!!
Inspired by 17 by Pink Sweat$ (but not really, lol).
A/n: I think this one is longer than the others (not sure, tho). Enjoy!

Kim Sunoo and his twin sister lived next door to Sim Jaeyun. They knew each other since the Kims still shared a placenta and Jaeyun was only a few months old. When kids, they used to play everyday, to plan sleepovers, they even walked together at school, almost as if the 3 of them were 1. But one day, when Jaeyun was 7 and the other 2 were 6, the older one's father had to move to Australia cause of his job and, of course, he and his mother had to go too.
The day Jaeyun came to the Kims’ residence to say goodbye, the Kim girl, as he called her,  gave him a necklace “When you feel scared or alone, you hold this necklace and remember I’ll always be with you” he smiled, then repeated what she said “You’ll always be with me” she nodded, then the two kids hugged, the tightest hug they ever had given to someone till that point “Come back one day” “I’ll” “Do you promise?” “I do”, they interlaced their pinky fingers and the pact was made.
17 years later:
“KIM SUNOO, I SWEAR I’M GOING TO KILL YOU IF YOU DON’T GET OUT OF THIS BATHROOM IN THE NEXT 3 SECONDS!” she screamed at her twin brother through the bathroom door. 3 seconds passed. Her threat didn’t seem to have any effect. She started to knock the door uncontrollably. Knock after knock she got angrier and angrier. Till one of the knocks hit the air “You’re going to hurt yourself like that” “Finally!” “You can't rush perfection” Sunoo said with his bag under his armpit, he was right, his skin glowed and his lips were so moisturized that if someone stepped on them, they’d slip and fall. “Get the fuck out!” “Watch your mouth, young lady” he was 16 minutes older than her “You know what? Sharing an apartment with you is my second biggest regret” “What’s the first?” “Sharing an uterus with you!” Sunoo’s mouth turned into an “o” and his hand rested on his chest “I'm offended” “Good!”, then she closed the bathroom door to finally take her shower. Sunoo smiled and with the cutest tone he could make, he hummed “I love youuu” she opened the door and put her head on the gap “Love you too, loser” and closed the door again while Sunoo hopped like a bunny to his room.
Half an hour later they met again in the kitchen, while Sunoo finished his breakfast and she finished drying her hair with a towel “Oh! I forgot to mention” “What’s it, Sunny?” “Jaeyun is coming back to Korea” “Jaeyun?” she opened the fridge to get some orange juice “Yes! Sim Jaeyun, our childhood neighbor”. She poured the juice on a glass and sipped it as the memory would magically pop into her head “Jaeyun?” “The one who went to Australia when we’re around 8 to 9 years old” “Hum!” she nodded “Oh, yes, I remember him. Wow! It’s been like what? 13 or 14 years?”, she pondered “17” Sunoo corrected her, she looked at her brother with a deadly gaze “Do you still have contact with him?” “I never actually stopped. I mean, after Facebook was invented, of course” “Who’s on Facebook nowadays?, now the older one threw her a deadly gaze. “Anyway, I think we should invite him to stay over while he doesnt find his own place” “Oh! Well, I think it’s ok as long as I don’t have to share my room and he doesn’t take a lifetime in the bathroom like you do”, Sunoo rolled his eyes while she washed the glass she had used. When she finished, she kissed her brother’s cheek “I’m leaving now or I’ll be late to my shift” “Ok, have a nice day!” “You too!” she blew a kiss and left.
Her job was definitely going to kill her. She loved to be a nurse but, yeah, she was going to die before completing 24. 12 hours inside of a hospital would kill anyone, right? She opened the apartment door, hoping Sunoo had left dinner to her. “Sunny, I’m home!”, she said without looking at the living room while she took her coat off. When she turned around she saw a handsome man standing there. A tall man, who had black, long hair and a silly smile on his face was standing in her living room and she didn’t have a clue why “You… are not, Sunny”, he giggled “No. Guess, I’m not”, she tilted her head, wondering why he had such] a funny accent. “Should I turn around and run cause you’re going to murder me or should I murder my brother for not telling me we were having guests tonight?” the stranger laughed “Sorry, hum…” he approached her, slowly, and stretched his hand “Hi, I’m Jake” “Jake?” “Yes”, she shook his hand, still confused “I don’t think I know you. Are you Sunoo’s friend?” “Oh, yeah! I used to be friends with you too” she furrowed her brows, then lifted them “Oh! Jaeyun?!” he nodded “Sim Jaeyun?!” “Yeah, that’s me” “Oh my god! Hi!” she shook his hand with more enthusiasm “Why haven’t you said it before?” “Well, I did” “No. You said you’re Jake. I don’t know any Jakes” “It’s how people call me now” “Oh…” Sunoo appeared in the living room with 2 bowls, 2 spoons and an ice cream pot “Oh, hi! You’re here!” “Hey…” she let go of Jake’s hand “We’re having mint choco to celebrate Jake’s comeback. It has lasagna for you in the oven” “Can you help me with the lasagna?” “Why? Are you 6 years ollll…” but she grabbed Sunoo’s ear and pulled him to the kitchen with her
“Auch, auch, auch! What’s up with you?” “Didn't it occur to you that I would like to know he was coming!?” she whispered “I told you he was coming!” he whispered back “I didn’t think it was today!” “I’m sorry, maybe I forgot to mention that” “Maybe?!” “I did. I’m sorry” she huffed “What’s the big deal?” “I could have washed my underwear that is on the dirty laundry, or vacuumed the carpet, or even dressed better after leaving my shift!” Sunoo laughed “Calm down. I don’t think Jake noticed any of that” “What’s with that new name, huh?”  she said, grabbing the lasagna from the oven “It’s how people called him in Brisbane” “Brisbane? Wasn’t he in Australia?” Sunoo laughed more “Brisbane is in Australia” “Oh…” “Relax, baby sister, you will enjoy having Jake around” “Yeah, I’ll love having one more person to fight for the bathroom” “You’re too grumpy tonight” Sunoo gave his back to her to come back to the other room “Where are you going?” “I’m going to eat my mint choco & green tea ice cream” “Ugh!” “Stop with it and come eat with us”. She ate in the kitchen, she wanted distance from that mint choco.
After she washed the dishes, she joined the 2 men in the living room. “Where’s Sunoo?” “He went to his room” “Hum…” she sat at Jake’s side on the sofa. “Do you really like that shit?” “Which shit?” “Mint choco”, she pointed to the ice cream pot on the center table. “Oh! Not really. It tastes like toothpaste” “I know!” “At least my breath is fresh now”,  she laughed “Why did you eat it if you don’t like it?” “Sunoo was so happy to see me again. I didn’t want to ruin the celebration” “That’s very sweet of you, but now you’ll have to eat it every time” “Ah… At least he will be happy, right?” she smiled, then nodded in disbelief “You’re too nice in my opinion” she stood up “I’m going to sleep now, don’t you dare linger in the bathroom!” “Linger…” “Yeah, if you take too long to shower and do skin care, you go after me cause I’ve to work, capisci?” “Capisci” she nodded and started to make her way to the bedroom “Good ni…” “I’m not jobless if you want to know” she turned to him “Really?” he nodded, she crossed her arms  “What do you do for a living?” “I’m a chef” “A chef?” “Yes” “Oh…” “When I moved to Brisbane, my mother started to run a restaurant. While she loves managing, I love cooking” “And are you a good chef?” “You tell me. The lasagna you eat for dinner, I made it” she uncrossed her arms “Oh! Is that why you came back to Korea?” “A korean food critic tried my food in the restaurant I worked in Sidney and invited me to be the head chef in his new restaurant in Seoul” “Wow!” “But worry not, I won’t block the bathroom. I take night shifts” he winked at her. she parted her lips “T-thank you…” she cleaned her throat “I’ll sleep now” she pointed to the corridor “Thanks for the meal and… good night” he chuckled “Good night, Kim girl”.
A week passed, she had a day off and she decided to spend it on her bed. She spent almost all day inside of her room alternating between sleeping and watching an episode of Bridgerton. But around 4 pm, she got hungry. So she decided to go to the kitchen and grab a snack. She opted for a bowl of fruit loops without milk and a cup of orange juice. She also decided to pass by the living room to let Sunoo know she was alive, but all she could find was Jake watching television. When he spotted her on the doorframe, he paused the movie “Hey! You are at home” “Yes…” “Haven’t seen you all day” “I was in my room all day, after my morning shower” “That’s why, then”, she nodded. “Is Sunny here?” “He went out with… hum…. a tall guy who has a deep voice. With an eyebrow piercing” “Ni-ki, you mean?” “Yeah. Riki… I guess” “It must be, they are very close” he nodded, turning back to his movie. “And you don’t have to work today?” “Only at night” “Oh! Right. I forgot” he nodded before unpausing the movie again. “What are you watching?” “Alien: Romulus” “Is that good?” “This is what I’m trying to figure out” “Sorry” she downed her head and walked toward her room “Do you…” she stopped “...want to watch it with me?” “You don’t mind?” “It’s your home” “I’d love to join you” “Good” he moved on the sofa to make space for her.
For the next 2 hours, Jake just jumped and hid. She wasn’t a big fan of scary movies but Jake didn’t even compare “I’m so embarrassed” “Don’t be. Is no shame to be scared of fake aliens” “Yes, it’s” she giggled. “You used to be scared of those too, do you remember?” “Oh, yes. My mom got crazy with that fear of mine…”, she flashbacked of when Sunoo got the habit of scaring her with a plastic alien he had. “...but those were good times” “Yes, they were” “You know, it was very sad for Sunny and I when you left” “For me too. I wish I didn’t have to” “But it was good, you found your passion, you learned English…” “Yeah… I missed you” “Did you?” “A lot. Did you miss me?” “Honestly, I didn’t even remember of you till 7 days ago” “Oh…” “But when I was a kid I felt your absence” he looked at her, then smiled “You’ve become a beautiful woman” she blushed “Thanks… You are not the weird kid you were too” Jake laughed “Sorry, I meant…” “No, no. I was kinda weird, wasn’ I?” “Yeah, but… you are very handsome now”
“Thank you” they looked at each other for a few moments, feeling the tension in the air, before Jake said something “Can I ask you a question?” “You can ask” “It doesn’t mean you’re going to answer” “Exactly”, he chuckled “Ok. Hum…” he licked his lips, those damn lips, she thought, without being able to take her eyes from them “Can I… kiss you?” “I thought you were never going to ask!”, and quickly she jumped on his lap, straddling him and blending their lips. It was a hot and messy kiss, full of desperation. She was keeping her desire for him for 7 long days already, watching Jake walk around the house with nothing but sweatpants (which marked a lot his member by the way), showing off his sculpted abdomen, biceps, back, everything. And that smirk on his lips, damn, she was on the edge of going crazy.  Jake on the other hand was keeping his desire for her for even longer, damn fucking 4 years already, since Sunoo shared pics of them together on the beach and he got enchanted by her beauty. The desire only grew in the past 7 days, in which he was around her and her bittersweet personality. Maybe for him, that kiss meant more than a whole week of seeing her wearing thigh tank tops and short sleeping shorts without being able to do anything but jerk himself off in the shower after coming back from work and everyone was already sleeping.
Their breaths got shorter and shorter as the kiss deepened, she dipped her fingertips on his black and long and beautiful hair, while Jake’s hands were on her nape and hip to keep her stable and close enough to him. But he didn’t keep them there for long, soon they travelled to her shoulders and started to rip the strains of her pajama, till her breasts almost jumped off the piece of cloth. She moaned inside of his mouth when she felt his finger tips touching the skin right above her breasts.
He pulled away the kiss to lick the soft skin of her neck, leaving a stain there “You don’t mind, do you?” he asked in a sexy tone, against her ear, his breath causing her shivers. She nodded “Give me more. In other places. Mark me everywhere you want to”, Jake smirked and pulled her top down to finally free her breast, they were so round and soft, almost like it would break if he just looked at it “I’ll try to be gentle” “Don’t hold yourself back” he smirked and planted one more kiss on her neck. Before dipping down to suck her nipples. She moaned, gripping on the hair of his nape. Her hips started to move as a reflex from the stimulation he was giving to her, and suddenly she found herself grinding on Jake’s hard cock while he had his mouth on his breast, doing an amazing job with his tongue, she had to admit. Jake noticed what she was doing, so he grabbed her hips and helped to move it. It didn’t take long for them to start feeling their edge approaching, “Jake…” she muttered, breathless “Fuck…”, he cursed “...I’m almost there…” he thighed the grip on her hips, groaning the last words “...Don’t think I can last much longer”, she smirked, slowing down the pace of her grinding, making slow circles with her hips, just to see him begging for her. Jake threw his head back, letting a moan escape his lips, surrendering completely. “Please....”, he tried to speak “... faster”, she took a few more moments to tease him, but she fasted the pace, for both of theirs sake.
She grinded faster again on his hard cock till it wasn’t that hard anymore and his underwear was filled with his release. She muffled Jake’s last groan with a kiss on his lips while she continued to grind till she hit her edge. Jake helped her, slipping a hand inside of her shorts and underwear, rubbing her clit “Damn, you’re wet”, she nodded, closing her eyes shut. He rubbed, she grinded, till she cummed in her lace panties, letting out a sweet moan, the sweetest he had ever heard, before collapsing on Jake’s body. He gently rubbed her back while they caught their breaths. Jake opened his mouth to say something but at the same moment, they heard the door unlocking “Shit!” she mumbled before jumping off Jake’s lap and wearing her top again “Put a pillow on it!”, she said referring to his boner, which has not softened completely yet. “Oh! Ok”, he obeyed her just in time cause Sunoo and Ni-ki just appeared in the living room. “Hi, guys!” Sunoo said with his typical sweet voice tone “Hey!” Jake greeted them “Hi, Sunny. Hi, Ni-ki” Ni-ki leaned on the couch and kissed her face, they were almost siblings, the amount of time Sunoo and him spent together for the past 5 years “Wanna play some game?” “Sure! Let’s go to my room” “Ok” she stood up and Sunoo sat where she was before “Why were you guys doing?”, she held her laugh. “We watched a horror movie” “Oh, I hate them. She’s weak for horror movies too” “I did better than Jake” “Did you?!” Oh, wish I was here so I could have seen it” she smiled, definitely Sunoo didn’t wish he was there. “Hey, is it a hickey?” Ni-ki said, pointing to her neck. Jake bit his lip to hold a smile back, Sunoo made an “o” with his mouth, Ni-ki laughed and she looked at him like she would murder him right there in front of everyone. “Who gave you that hickey?!” Sunoo asked, she was his younger sister after all, “It’s none of your business” she turned around and walked to her room “Hold on!” Sunoo followed “Wait! Come back here! Are you seeing someone?” she slammed the door “Are you using protection?”
Ni-ki and Jake laughed, then the japanese man sat on the couch “Wanna play some game?” “Sure!” “Good” Ni-ki said, already turning the ps5 on. “It was you, wasn’t it?”, Ni-ki asked after a few minutes “What?” “The hickey. It was you, right?” “Why do you think it was me?” “It seemed fresh. Your hair is sort of messy and her cheeks were red” “You’re a good observer” “I know”, he said without taking his eyes from the screen “Relax, I won’t tell Sunoo” “Thought you guys were very close” “We are. I’m also close to her and it is none of my business who she’s letting suck her neck or not. Plus, you seem to be nice” “Well… thank you”. Ni-ki nodded “But for God’s sake, do not do things on the sofa, it’s a communitary furniture! I mean, I sit here too, bro”, Jake blushed “We didn’t…”, then Ni-ki started to laugh “I’m just messing around with you, man. It’s not even my house” “Oh…”, Jake forced a smile, still afraid of Ni-ki “Ok” “Relax, man. It’s all good”, the japanese man poked the other’s shoulder and they continued to play in silence.
Later that night after Ni-ki left and Sunoo went to his bedroom, Jake knocked on her door before leaving to work “Jake…” “Hi. Are you ok?” “Yeah” “Did you and Sunoo make amends?”, she nodded “After a long lecture, yes” “Sorry about that” “It’s fine. Not your fault, I blame Ni-ki who can’t keep his mouth shut” “He said he just wanted to tease you. He didn’t imagine Sunoo would care that much” “Yeah, me neither” “So that makes us 3…”, he placed his hands  on his pockets and looked at his feet. “That’s exactly why I shouldn’t be here, about to ask you what I want to ask you” “Do you want to do dry humping again but without clothes?” “I…” he blinked twice and looked at her again, “...well, I wouldn’t complain if you’re up to it but… no, it isn’t what I want to ask” “What’s it, then?” “I would like to take you on a date” “A date?” “Yes. I can cook for you and we can get to know each other better. And if the sex part happens, it’s good too”, she blushed, embarrassed that he wanted to know more about her when she was thinking about how it would be good to actually ride him. “I… I wasn’t expecting it” “It’s ok if you say no. Can we try the fucking part anyways?” she laughed “No, Jake. I… I’d love to go on a date with you” “Really?” “Yes” “Oh, good! I really was hoping you would say yes” “When and where?” “I have a day off on Monday. Was thinking about going to see a few places during the afternoon, then take you to dinner at night. So… Monday at 7 pm?”, she nodded “It’s a date, Sim Jake” “Ok”, he smiled shyly. “I… I have to go to work now…” “Ok. Have a good night” “You too” “See you tomorrow, Jake”, he smirked, leaning down to say something in her ear “Don’t think too much about me or you will have to dry hump your pillow”, she blushed. Then, as nothing had happened, Jake kissed her face and pulled away “See you”, and left.
3 days passed. 3 days of teasing looks, and a lot of sexual tension between the 2 of them. The things which were an unintentional teasing, like not wearing a shirt and wearing short shorts and thigh blouses, became intentional teasing. Everytime the 2 of them were on the small sofa, Jake made sure to be shirtless and to stick on her body. And she made sure to drop things on the floor even more frequently, so Jake could have a better view of her ass or tits. 3 days after the sofa incident. 3 days after the date invitation. She made sure to switch shifts with one of her colleagues to have proper time to get ready for the date. She was alone at home the whole day, so she hydrated her hair, shaved her legs and armpits, made skin care, put on light makeup, and spent 2 hours deciding which dress she was going to wear. At the end, she chose a black basic one.
Jake got home around 6pm and in less than an hour, he was ready. He knocked on her door, and when she opened it, he couldn’t even speak “You… you are stunning” “Thank you. You look good too” “Thank you, misses. Shall we go?”, he offered his arm to her “Yes”. On the way there, in Jake’s car, she asked him “You said you were going to cook for me” “I am going to cook for you” “So where are we going? Cause you live with me and unless your hunting was extremely successful, you don’t have any other place to cook” “I have my restaurant” “Isn’t it closed today?” “Exactly. We’re going to have a whole restaurant just for the 2 of us” “That’s cool! None other guy have ever done this to me” “See? I’m not the other ones”, she giggled “Oh, I love that song”, it was “Deja Vu” by Post Malone, “Me too” and they sang along the whole way there.
Jake prepared bibimbap for her. According to Ni-ki, it was her favorite meal, and he really enjoyed it as well. The restaurant had a low light vibe, which made it even more romantic. They talked about their childhood together, then about Jake’s in Brisbane and hers in Seoul. “I can’t believe you did it!” “Yeah, but Sunoo deserved it” “Remind me of never eating your Binch biscuits” “Biscuits!?’ “There we go… What do you call it?” “Cookies, man” “Ah! Whatever… Are you ready for dessert?” “Yes! It’s my favorite part” “Can you guess what’s it?” “Hum… Brownies?” “No” “Petit gateau with vanilla ice cream?” “That’s a good one, but no” “If is mint choco I will walk out that door and lock you out of my house”, Jake laughed “No! It’s not mint choco”, he offered his hand to her and guided her to the kitchen. He stood behind her and whispered in her ear “Are you ready?”, she nodded “Ok”, he walked to the fridge, then stood in front of her “Ok, you can open your eyes”, when she did, she saw Jake holding a bowl full of passionfruit mousse “Passionfruit!” “Do you like it?” “I love it!” “That's good news”, she licked her lips, making Jake laugh. “Come here”, he placed the bowl on the counter and held her by the waist to put her sitting near the dessert “There you go”, he reached for a spoon, then placed himself in between her legs, to serve her a portion of the mousse. “So?”, she closed her eyes, threw her head back and moaned “So good”, he served himself a portion, and had the same reaction of her “Delicious” “I always wondered why is this called passionfruit” “Maybe cause if you eat passion fruit you fall in love for the handsome chef who served it to you, right into your beautiful mouth”, she laughed “Yeah, maybe” “So I think we should do it again just in guarantee” “I agree”, she placed her hands on his chest and rubbed up and down while he filled the spoon with another portion. He served her, then served himself “You know what would be cool?” “What?” “Serving yourself with mousse…” “But I am already…”
“...directly from my naked body”, Jake stopped chewing, breathing and thinking. She smirked with the expression he had on his face, looking like his last brain cell had died. But it didn’t last long, soon Jake had a smirk on his face as well “You know you always have the best ideas, right?” “That’s what I keep telling everyone!”. Jake placed the spoon on the counter and grabbed her thighs, pulling them so she would lay on the counter, then he grabbed some mousse with the spoon and placed it on her neck before leaning over her body and, at first licking lightly, but then sucking it from her soft skin. She moaned, the different textures and temperatures made a simple neck sucking be even more delicious and pleasurable. “Did you enjoy it?” “So fucking much” “So I can keep going” “Yes, please”, she muttered, he smirked even naughtily, and took the strains of her dress off her shoulders, to place more mousse on her right collarbone, leaving a mark there when he finished sucking. His next victim was her nipples. She shivered when she felt the cold moussed on it. Again, Jake licked, sucked and marked, earning another sweet moan from her. “You’re in the mood for leaving marks tonight, huh”
“I’m going to mark you. Everywhere. So every other guy you give access to your body, will know who you belong with”, his voice tone changed to something dark and deep. “There’s no other guys, Jake”, she held his head “I have only thought about you since the first night I saw you standing in my living room with a silly smile on your face”, he smiled, dipping down to kiss her passionately. His hands pulled her dress up until he had access to her black lace underwear. “Damn, you’re so sexy”, he muttered, feeling his cock pulsing and hurting of desire “You’re too”, she said, pulling him from the collar of  his black shirt to kiss him while she unbuttoned the piece of cloth. When she finished, she rubbed his abs and chest, up and down, feeling his hot skin, moaning on his mouth. Jake couldn’t take it anymore, neither of them could, so he pulled away from the kiss, unbuckled his belt, opened his black pants and pushed it down enough to take his dick off his Calvin Klein’s boxers, ready to fuck her until she screamed his name. But first he slipped 2 fingers on her, to confirm if she was wet enough “Always very wet for me, babygirl”, she moaned when he moved his fingers inside of her “You…”, she moaned again when he moved his fingers again “...I want you. I need you”, she moved her hips which made Jake smirk “Stop moving your hips”, she moved again “Bad girl, must punish you”, her only response was another hip thrust. He smiled, taking his finger out of her and aligning his member with her entrance. He wanted to push it inside of her at once, but instead, he held her hips so she couldn’t move them and penetrated her with his tip only. She contorted herself under him, trying to hold a moan back, failing. “Don’t you hold your moans back”, he took the tip out, then in again,  “Don’t ever do that again, I want to hear them…” , he took the tip out “...all of them”, and in again “Did you understand?”, she whined under him, gripping on the counter, trying not to lose her shit his his teasing, failing on it too. He took the tip out once more “Did you…”, and in “... understand?”, she nodded “Yes…”, she gulped “Good girl” “Jake, please, I need you”, she cried. Jake was about to lose his shit as well, so he nodded and finally released her hips and pushed the rest of his dick inside of her, letting a moan escape from his throat, and pushing down to kiss her neck.
She moaned, louder than the other times and gripped on his hair, trying to release the overwhelm he had put her through. He started to move slowly just to tease her a little more, but as he thrusted, his hips began to move faster on their own. It was unusual for him to listen to the sound of skin slapping, bodies colliding and fluids mixing in that kitchen over the sound of pans and food grilling, but he could listen to it everyday, as long as he was with her, he wouldn’t mind listening to dirty sounds while he prepared a salad. And her moans, it was the best sound he had ever heard. He switched the angle of his hips, hitting a sensitive point on her “Jake…”, she moaned “...right there”, he continued to thrust, till he felt she clenching around him “Feels so good around me, damn”, he groaned “Fuck, Jake, I’m cumming”, she clenched more, he groaned again “Fuck, me too…”, she hit her edge and a few seconds later, Jake hit his. He had to use a strength he didn’t know had left on him for not completely succumbing over her body.
They took a few moments to normalize their breaths, she caressed his hair, and he had his face buried on the crock of her neck. “What’s it?’, she asked, referring to something cold against her chest “It’s a necklace”, he hovered over her body so she could see it. She held the pendant to take a look on it “This necklace… I know it” “Yeah, you gave it to me when I left to Australia” “I know… You kept it all of those years” “I wore it when I got into the airplane and never took it off since then”, she covered her mouth “Jake… that’s…” “I knew you would be with me if I wore it, so…”, a few tears rolled down her face. Jake dried them with his thumb “... you were with me all of those years”, she pulled him for a kiss, a salty kiss due to her tears “I’m… I don’t even know what to say” “So don’t say anything, just kiss me” “Ok”, he kissed her again and they stood there, making out for a while.
…From that date on, they started to go out frequently. Jake also moved from his own place, so they had more privacy. Which meant sex everywhere. In every room of his new house, without the concern of getting caught by Sunoo or Ni-ki or anyone else. Though, they slept over her place too, especially in those days Sunoo wasn’t home. Like that one, or at least she thought he wasn’t. They went to the movie theater the night before, then they came back to her apartment. When she woke up Sunoo wasn’t there yet, neither was Jake. She went out of her room, looking for her beloved, finding him in the bathroom. She knocked on the door “Come in” Good morning, love”, he said when she saw her “Good morning, Jakey”, she said with a sleepy tone “Come here. Join me” “I…”, they never showered together before “I won’t bite you” “I want you to bite me” “So I will bite you” “But not on the neck, it took me a lifetime to convince Sunoo that I wasn’t seeing anyone and  yes, I was using protection”. She took her pajama off and entered the shower, letting the water run over her body. Jake stepped forward, taking her lips on his, till her back hit the cold wall. His hand lifted one of her thighs and he went down on her. Sucking her clit, licking her arouse “Jake, Jake, Jake…”, she muttered, “...come here”, he stood up, and aligned himself  with her, penetrating her at once. He leaned his forehead on hers, without moving yet “You’re not using protection now”, she chuckled “And apparently I’m seeing someone” Jake smiled “Yes, I think you are”, then he started to move. They were so caught up in the moment that they didn’t hear when Sunoo knocked on the door. Since nobody answered, he entered “Oh. My. God” he said, instantly covering his eyes and leaving the bathroom. “Shit” they said in unison. Jake took himself out of her and she ran from the shower, with a towel wrapped around her body, to reach her brother “Sunny!”, she shouted, knocking on the door of his bedroom. He kept silent. “C’mon, Sun. Open the door, let’s talk”, Jake showed up, wearing a robe “He doesn’t say anything”, Jake knocked on the door “C’mon, bro. Show up”, Sunoo opened the door, he had rage coming out from his eyes “You! The girl you bragged about the other day was my sister?! How could you?!”, Jake rubbed his nape, “I welcomed you to my house when you came back to Korea! I shared my bed with you! I didn’t accept when you wanted to pay rent! I even shared my mint choco with you! And you thank me with fucking with my little sister on the shower?!” “Sunoo, you’re overreacting. I’m not a kid anymore”, he looked at her “And you! You said you were not seeing anyone and you were using protection. But in reality, you are seeing someone and you were not wearing protection!” “Sunny, I wasn’t going out with him when you asked” “But why didn't you tell me when you two started to… do whatever you’ve been doing?” “I was afraid of your reaction. The exact one you are having right now. I was afraid of ruining your long term friendship with Jake”
“Well, you shouldn’t worry about it, he ruined  it by himself the moment he decided to get into it”, Sunoo looked at Jake “How could you?!” “I…” he wrapped an arm around her shoulder “I am sorry you don’t like the idea, but I’m in love with your sister. I’m not taking distance from her”, she looked at Jake and Sunoo’s facial expression relaxed “Are you?!”, he looked at her “Yes. I’m so much in love with you”, she smiled “Yeah, me too”. Jake rubbed her cheek with his thumb and they fought the urge to kiss. “Awwww, you love each other!”, Sunoo broke the moment “Aren’t you mad anymore?” “Oh, c’mon. You guys are in love, how could I hate you guys for that?” “But… just now you…” “It was when I thought you were messing around with my baby sister”, he answered with a smile on his face “I’m only 16 minutes younger” “It doesn’t matter”, he hugged the other 2. “Now go finish your shower, and don’t take too long. I have a date today” “What?!”, they said in unison. Sunoo blushed, then giggled while the passionate couple teased him about his date.

Today's (12/2/2024) Episode: The Womp Womp Weekly
Skye made it through first day jitters, and the next day he was excited to head up to the computer lab with Elyse for his first school newspaper meeting.
“Everyone, Skye here is our newest recruit and will be helping us get some fantastic pictures of all the goings on around here.” Mr. Haas told them. Skye looked up and raised a hand in greeting, his eyes widening when he recognized the girl from the lunchroom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After a quick round of introductions, the group got to work figuring out assignments for the next weeks edition.
Just as she’d predicted, Demetrius tried to convince their advisor that “a poetry column doesn’t fit my new editorial vision for the paper.” While Elyse was busy arguing that point Skye settled down next to Gretchen, who he’d been paired up with to cover the upcoming career fair.
“You were right about the school lunch options; my hamburger sliders could have used a little help in the flavor department.” he began “I packed some leftovers today. My dad has max cooking skill and even reheated his food is much better than what they’re serving in the cafeteria.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Gretchen grinned “My dads wouldn’t recognize a spatula if it smacked them over the head. If the butler doesn’t make us dinner we’re going out or ordering in. You’ll see my dad Theo at the fair, I guilted him into manning the media production booth.”
“That’s cool.” Skye replied “My dad enjoyed doing career day once for E-Sports. You want to take photos of you interviewing yours?”
“Sure” she shrugged “He’ll love that. Hey, Skye…” she hesitated “What are your pronouns? I don’t mean to be rude, but I seriously cannot tell.”
Now it was Skye’s turn to shrug “He? I guess.” … “You guess!?” She shook her head “That’s not usually something you need to guess at.” Chuckling, she turned on the computer. “You sure do keep things interesting. Now help me think of 20 questions to ask the sim I already know everything about!”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the end Mr. Haas sided with Elyse, keeping The Womp Womp Weekly one deep, dark, poetry column richer for the time being.
“Congrats on defending your poetic vision from Mr. Hater.” Skye told her later that evening as they worked on their homework together.
“Thanks. I told you I wasn’t going down without a fight! Hey, who was that girl you got paired up with for your first assignment?”
“That’s Gretchen” he smiled “I literally ran into her at lunch yesterday when we got separated. She seems nice. You know, she was asking me about my pronouns actually…” before he could continue Elyse cut him off “well just don’t get too close to her. Now that I have you, I intend to keep you.” realizing what she’d said she backtracked, stammering “As… as my high school bestie that is.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Skye’s heart leaped in his chest at Elyse’s accidental hint that her feelings for him might be more than just those of a childhood companion.
“Don’t worry, best friends forever, right?” he said, smiling at the girl he’d followed and worshipped for as long as he could remember.
“Best friends forever” Elyse agreed with a happy smile, flipping open her book and burying her gaze in it. As they turned the conversation to their schoolwork the pair both silently hoped their friendship withstood the challenges of oncoming adulthood and became something deeper but just as permanent as they aged up together.

snap back and leave the city <3
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
snap back: got a bad feeling that im about to break
this line man...1. The fact that the song opens with it is just gut punching. 2. The repetition of it, of it being the first line in the chorus....makes me actually want to scream. The more I listen to it, especially if I put it on loop, the harder this line is for me to sing. Lately it's all I've been feeling. It makes me feel 17, 21, 25 again, in both the worst and best ways. UGH I can't even comprehend the way this song makes me feel. it's everything to me 🥹🫶✨
leave the city: in trench im not alone
the buildup of this entire song just for the third verse to be what it is, to me, in the year 2017, is absolutely incredibly mind altering. feeling those words through my headphones, alone as I play the sims past midnight when I had to be awake at 7. I lost it. suddenly, I was no longer alone. even as I sat in my childhood bedroom in the home I was raised in, I felt as far from home as he does. god. I was so fucked up. so broken. and then I hear this song. and suddenly I have this tangible thing that i can listen to and remember. that no matter where I am, no matter what time, what year, what moment, I can always find my way back to trench and know I am not alone.

hi! i was wondering if you had game recs for someone that has only played sims and stardew on pc! im the person and i want to start playing more stuff but i dont want to start with something too difficult i hope that makes sense 🐣 thank you and i hope you enjoy your weekend
hi nonners!! sure thing! a huge chunk of my childhood gaming was harvest moon and sims so let's see! my gaming tastes are very unified yet all over the place so don't take this as gospel and something you will For Sure enjoy! feel free to follow up if any game/genre piques your interest!
if you never did so, i would recommend giving the sims handheld games (namely, sims bustin' out, urbz, and sims 2 on the gba/ds). they're still in the universe of the sims so you take care of your lil sim/urb but they're adventure games where you're given tasks and progress through the story. the writing is silly but good, and the characters are fun, though the games may feel grindy at times. feel free to hit me up if you'd like, i can hook you up with them!
in the farming sim/resource manager sim, i can recommend you the harvest moon games, now story of seasons. story of seasons: a wonderful life just came out on the switch, and i think other platforms, and it is a remake of the iconic a wonderful life. just keep in mind that it might feel like a step down from just how much content is in stardew valley! there's also the rune factory series, my time at portia (and the upcoming my time at sandrock), ooblets, graveyard keeper, calico, and animal crossing. oh!! and kynseed. kynseed is lovely and it looks gorgeous and it is a life sim where you play as successive generations, with lots of fae elements. it can get a bit grindy but i've greatly enjoyed my time with it.
(and i just started wylde flowers since i got it on sale this week, and i've been really enjoyed it so far, but can't provide a full recommendation since i've had so little time with it)
if you enjoy the decorating part of the sims, i can recommend you the tenants. it's a game where you play as a landlord, decorate houses, find renters, and most importantly do renovation jobs for clients.
if you're in the mood for something sandbox-y, other than animal crossing i think that no man's sky could scratch that itch (you can fully customize options such as resource availability, combat difficulty, etc) and, of course the legend of zelda breath of the wild (and i can only assume tears of the kingdom, but i haven't started that one yet)
if you're wanting to dip your toes into different genres, such as rpgs, i can recommend you the elder scrolls series (especially skyrim is more streamlined and thus, more beginner friendly) and dragon age. both series have difficulty settings you can change as you feel more or less comfortable. if you're interested in party-based, turn-based rpgs, you can't go wrong with the final fantasy series, golden sun, and octopath traveler (which is a recent favorite that i wholeheartedly love, with the caveat that if someone is looking for a large, overarching story it is not the game that will provide that)
edit to add story-based games. there are many but i won't cite what maybe most people would recommend bc i either haven't played it or dislike it. i really enjoyed oxenfree, not tonight, road 96, and most importantly of all, kentucky route zero. my sibling adores the dreamfall chapters series and i really enjoy watching them play it! and my wife (a much more casual player than me but whom i love watching play and has great taste) loved playing strange horticulture, the sexy brutale, eastshade, and coffee talk (episodes 1 and 2)
please keep in mind there's some overlap between categories! and i think that most games will be approachable to beginners. nobody was born knowing how to play games and i find that most games do a good job of bringing players up to speed.
sorry for the long reply!! gaming is just a bit of a big interest for me since it's my preferred medium and i'm a rambler haha. as i said, feel free to hmu again on or off anon!! and hope u too are having a great weekend

💻&👻 !!
Y’all are really coming through with the fall vibes today! 🙌🏼
💻: To feel nostalgic; what are some old games/websites you spent lots of time on when you were young?
Oh man, to be young and fighting for access on the one family desktop in the house 😂
When I was young I remember using the internet to track hurricanes (childhood is weird in the south lol), play Neopets (hours and hours and hours), or research whatever new historical fixation I had that year (I distinctly remember a Titanic and mummy phase).
Then when I got a little older, I really started getting into games. First the Sims 1 and 2, then Zeus and Poseidon, and the early Civ games. Pretty specific world simulators with historical leanings. Who I am makes so much sense now lol
👻: What is something in an animated movie or cartoon that scared you as a kid?
So this isn’t animated or a cartoon but it is (kind of?) a kids movie.
E.T.!!!! For some reason I was horribly, horribly afraid of the little alien in E.T., so much so that I still haven’t finished that movie to this day. I remember someone tried to get me to watch it and I straight up ran from the room. Then whenever I was driving anywhere at night I would have to close my eyes when we passed cane fields because I was scared that’s where the aliens would abduct us, even though I don’t think there’s a field in that movie?? Idk. Super odd childhood fear though lol

Life in Long Beach: Images from my early childhood
Take a trip back to late 1970s- early 1980s Long Beach, CA. This video is part auto-biography, part therapy, part fairy tale, and all California history. The Chortkoff Archives is a start up non-profit. We worked with the worlds smallest budget to accomplish my epic and ambitious vision! I think you will find this video is fast paced and an enjoyable way to spend 47 quick minutes. Please leave respectful comments. I don't even want to say how long I have been working on this one! I had the idea way back in 2013. That year my childhood home was up for sale and I called the real-estate agent who was only interested in selling the house and I said all the wrong things. So I just thought about it and eventually this was made. The interiors were recreated in The Sims 2, and you get a video walkthrough. So come check out my simulated time machine! Let's go to Long Beach back to the groovy and awesome late 70s early 1980s LA! There is a little something for everyone here! If you like animation, California history, video games, or grew up in the 1970s or 1980s, I think you will like this! If you have lost loved ones and family you will relate to it. If you had a unique childhood I think you will like it too. It is a story about picking up a little girl I left behind in LB in 1985! I had a big story to tell but no budget. I have big visions that I hope to bring to the big screen someday! Hopefully this video will help gain me the popularity I need to buy camera stabilizers, microphones, actors, and sets. Maybe a small camera crew someday! But all I had was a Canon 6D and it's built in microphone. But I got the sound down pretty well anyway! Thanks to Will Wright for inventing the Sims games. They have helped me work through the tough processing of everyday life. I recreated my childhood from memory. I also include a lot of interesting historic facts and elements to make this enlightening for everyone. I exorcized some childhood demons too! I recommend going back and writing out your story from birth! It was hard to keep this under an hour long because I began to remember so much stuff! Plus as I reached out I found my Cuz Peter Shaw, nephew of my beloved grandpa Thomas. I did not see a photo of my grandfather from the age of 10 until about 7 years ago when my dad, Rand Chortkoff passed. He had them! Cuz Peter also hooked me up with lots of photos of grandpa! I have yet to find where my grandparents are buried. This goes by fast and is light and fun I think! It is not made for children, but it is from my inner child's point of view. I would rate it PG. Safe for work, safe for TV, and probably just fine for children but viewer discretion is advised. And PLEASE subscribe to my Youtube! The Forever After Challenge
Tumblr media
If you decide to do this please tag my tumblr, mention where you got the rules (here or Sims Forums), and mention my youtube TheShawnFiles Right now there is only generations 1-4. I will post the rest when I figure them out. This challenge is based off of fairytales, legends, nursery rhymes, and Shakespearean characters. Players can follow the original stories or you can just roll with it. Some areas of this challenge ask for gender specific heir/heiresses. If you don't own certain expansion packs, then feel free to incorporate this however you would like. - No restarting after a bad event. Quitting after a bad event also gets rid of all the good ones. See how you can fix the mistakes! - You can use cheats/mods, but none that give you an unfair advantage. - You can use the free real estate for your first house, but after that you can't. To move you must raise the money. - No bringing the dead back, UNLESS stated otherwise in that generation. You can plead with the Grim Reaper - Anti-aging potion can only be used if stated in that generation - You can only have one played household in the world. You can add households in the world for friends, but not spouses. Generation 1: Big Bad Wolf "I'm not so bad." Known in a ton of different stories, the Big Bad Wolf seemed like a bad guy by most of the folks in town, but is he really that bad? The real facts of the stories are not fully there. - Must be male - Must have 3 kids - Child 1 must have the self-absorbed trait, child 2 must have the snob trait, and child 3 has the proper trait - Each child must have the same mom - Each child must achieve something before their teenage years - this can be reaching level 5 in a toddler skill, reaching level 3 in all toddler skills, complete any trait, completing their childhood aspiration, or becoming an A grade student in school - Have multiple jobs - You will need to make three or four enemies then later go through a redeem arch after your middle child is born - One of the enemies must have red or blonde hair - Become best friends with your youngest child - Have your wife die after the youngest is born Generation 2: The Golden Goose "The Golden Rule" You are the youngest out of your siblings, and although you did get a lot of love you also got most of the hand me downs. Hiking one day your oldest sibling got hurt after running into an old man. They had excellent food when they were on the hike. Same happened to your second with good food. You went and shared (gift) your small amount of poor food with the old man. He gave you some wise advice and a golden goose. - Your story begins when you turn into a young adult - stated in the last generation you need the proper trait - have the animals enthusiast trait - Have two kids - both of your siblings fall off a cliff after meeting an old man (kill the siblings or just have them hurt is up to you) - Give the old man a gift - Become a spellcaster - Have the conservationist career - Marry the child of a rich sim (extra points if they are also a spellcaster) - Have a pod with a swan, but only after you give the gift to the old man - Have a little bit of a rocky relationship with your partner - go picnics on with your family once a week - as a toddler your oldest child should have the silly trait - as a child your oldest kid has the goofball trait Generation 3: A Midsummer Nights Dream "Lord, what fools these mortals be!" As mentioned some Shakespearean characters are mentioned in this challenge. This one is Puck from A Midsummer Nights Dream. - Your story starts as a teen - Your little sibling was always the more mature one while you liked to goof off. - Traits, goofball, romantic, loves the outdoors - Aspiration, Chief of Mischief - You mess with people's relationships/help match make some people at the orders of your mom - Catch your mother having an affair - Don't have a good relationship with your father - As a young adult your parents set you up to an arranged marriage to your childhood enemy - You are always up to mischief - Have one child - When your little sibling
becomes a young adult have them marry with one kid - Be close to your kid and read them to sleep at night - Must complete the Chief of Mischief aspiration -You and your partner die on vacation, forcing your child to move in with their uncle. If you have the Jungle Adventure pack have their vacation there I know I said it was supposed to be fairytales, legends, nursery rhymes, and some Shakespearean characters I am adding some literature. Mainly this one. Generation 4: Secret Garden "He says I’m making him forget about being ill and dying." - Your story starts when you are a child after your parents die - Have the rambunctious scamp aspiration - have the self-assured trait - Have your aunt die before you move in with your uncle - Move into your uncle's estate in Windenburg - You and your uncle are distant - If you have vintage glamor, have your uncle have a butler - Have a scheduled maid - Your cousin isn't allowed out of their room (except for school) - You can either use a mod to make the cousin sick or just say they are sick without a mod - Sneak out after talking to the maid/butler and travel to the bluffs - Sneak into your cousins room at night and tell them stories - Become friends with a boy who works on the estate - Sneak to the bluffs with your friend and cousin - You and your uncle get closer after he catches you three at the bluffs - cousin is no longer sick - complete either the creativity or motor skill as a kid - As a teen have the Freelance Botanist Aspiration - Complete the aspiration if you wish - As a teen start a garden with your friend/boyfriend - as a young adult marry your childhood friend - have a son - Have that son later be kidnapped

Come Back, Joe- Joe FF/imagine (Part 1???)
Come Back, Joe
The room was quiet. The sudden, deafening noise that had just taken over the entire house a moment ago was gone. Now, compared to the silence, the noise felt more like a squeak. Joe stood there, feeling like an elephant in a bird cage, looking at the fallen man before him. The bullet hammer still in his hand, now covered with blood. His head felt fuzzy. This was what usually happened after a job. This time, there was just something so much like someone he knew in that man. He stood still for a while, trying to come back to the world. He needed to get rid of the evidence. He needed to get out of there. He needed to get back to her.
Come back.
Come back!
COME BACK JOE!
Joe is back. He walks around the room, now numb to the carnage. Barely looking at the body, he briskly walked around the room, looking for anything relating to the ex-person lying on the bed, now surrounded by a halo of filthy crimson with bright broken pieces of white, and disgusting grey-pink splats. Any phones, credit cards, ID cards, drivers licenses, even library cards are sometimes used to track people down. Joe collected all of these, very carefully, making sure any blood on them was wiped off so it didn’t drip on the floor. Not because of any cleanliness issues, but because forensic scientists take any drips of blood like that as proof that the room been tampered with. That’s why he always made sure to get as few of those drips as possible. He also made sure it looked a lot more like a robbery that way, if he got rid of all these things, so he also took the mans wallet. Then he opened up the phone, pulling out the SIM card and crushing it in his strong hand. Then snapping the phone itself easily, catching all the bits in a plastic bag that he brought. No matter how much he distracted himself though, he couldn’t ever forget the strangely familiar corpse on the bed.
Avoiding the body like the plague, he shuffled around the room, looking around in case he missed something. As usual, he hadn’t and with a heavy sigh, he left the room, shuffling along slowly, swivelling his head and eyes back and forth like a wild animal, as if he were looking for his next victim. But he wasn’t, he was terrified as he always was after these jobs, that someone had seen him, maybe seen a shadow through the curtains of the windows, maybe he was caught on CCTV, was that mirror double sided? His head spun more and more, making the numb feeling already permeating through his body so much worse. He just kept walking, keeping his eyes glued to the ground, focusing on his feet so he wouldn’t fall over, barely looking up long enough to avoid getting run over. Eventually, he recognized the pavement he walked on, his school road. That meant that there were at least 2 blocks to go before he reached his house. He sped up a tad. Now wanting more desperately than ever to be in her arms again. To hug her, to kiss her, to hold her close to his heart so she could hear how much he loved her.
Finally, his road. As he walked, his shadow rolled from in front of him to behind him again and again as he passed each street lamp. Getting faster and faster as he walked faster and faster.

go left now.
He turned left, knowing exactly where his house was, not needing to look up and see it. He recognized the gravel, the crunch that it made under his weight, the smell of the roses that she grew, the smell of freshly cut grass, the movement, activated lamp that always blinded him when he came back this late.
She knew what he did as a job. She was definitely worried, of course, but he had taught her how to fight, and more importantly, how to win. She waited in the kitchen for him, as she always did, with a warm lemon whisky and lemon mix that they both liked to enjoy. It was indeed hard to tell what Joe enjoyed. He was so quiet and he kept to himself, but Y/N knew how to get him to smile, how to get him to open up, even just a little bit. She had opened a door in his heart and settled in perfectly, no matter how many times Joe said that she wouldn’t enjoy it or his company. She knew what had happened in his childhood and career, she knew about his suicidal thoughts, she knew, even without him telling her, how he felt in any exact moment.
Right now, she knew that Joe was worse that usual, that for whatever reason, this job had affected him more than others. She didn’t need to ask why or whether she was right, she just knew. She stood up from the kitchen island, leaving both mugs there, and walked over to Joe, searching for his eyes carefully. There were no tears yet, but it was only a matter of time. She ran her hands up his shoulders and behind his neck carefully, holding him in a fragile embrace. He looked up slowly, meeting her gaze, he tried to smile tightly, but that only pushed the tears out. All at once, he crumpled to his knees, grabbing her tightly as if she was the last life-vest on a sinking ship and shook terribly, like a mountain during an earthquake. Y/N sat down next to him, still holding him close, stroking his head and whispering softly, “Joe, I’m here...I’m here...don’t worry...” He just kept sobbing and shaking, tears soaking his beard, his hair falling down past his eyes, casting a shadow over his face. Y/N still sat there patiently, waiting for him to be able to stand. “Joe...Joe, listen to me...lets go over to the kitchen island, okay? I have two honey whisky lemons over there for us....honey, I need to shut the door...” hearing this made him move, she knew it would. As he got up slowly and shuffled over to the mugs, sniffing quietly, she slowly pushed the door fully shut and locked it, double checking it as usual. Then, Y/N rushed back over to Joe, making sure he made it to the island in one piece.
He was sitting there as she arrived, still silently sobbing and shaking, his mug barely keeping steady as he tried to hold it. Y/N slowly pushed the mug back down onto the table, he complied sadly, feeling an overwhelming feeling of guilt that she had to take care of him like this. Worried as always that she might love him less if she saw him like this. Y/N saw all of this pass through his eyes and held his hands. Her hands looking like a baby dolls compared to his, she held her hands downwards, linking perfectly with his now upturned hands, her fingers in his palm and his fingers holding up hers. He finally stopped sobbing and looked up to Y/N, meeting her eyes again, tears still unconsciously streaming down his face.
Y/N finally noticed a small amount of blood on his face. She patted his hands lightly, motioning that she was going to get up for a little bit, walked over to the sink, took a paper towel from the roll, dampened it slightly and walked back. By the time she had done all that, she noted that Joe hadn’t moved a muscle. She sighed, worried that her love might be truly broken this time. She would never hear him talk about what he recently read, watched, saw again. The time that she spent with him was so precious, and now she might not have that time ever again. She needed to get him talking. As she wiped away the blood on his face she asked “Do you wanna talk about it tonight? Or would you prefer to go to sleep now?” he thought for a moment, “we can talk...” he mumbled back, “i just dunno what to say.” He slumped into his arms like a bored child, trying to hide his face as much as possible from her. She slumped down in front of him, making sure she always had her eye on him. “Was it a kid?” she inquired softly “no..no...it was a guy...” he muttered, not wanting to remember that night, “Was it someone you knew?” “n-no...well, maybe...but no...b-but...he looked familiar.” he stammered, trying to not ramble. “Ah, I see...who did he look like?” “I-I don’t...know.” he sighed, thinking that she will surely see this as nothing and say that he should just get over it. She had never done that before, but she might this time. She kept going “really rake your brain...who did he look like...why did this affect you so much?” He stopped, looking up now, really trying to think without thinking about how he killed him or about his corpse. He thought about his face compared to the catalogue of faces he knew...then it hit him. That man...he looked like his father. His eyes grew wide and tears welled up again. Everything to do with his dad came rushing back, did he kill his dad? Oh my god was that his dad? He started breathing heavy, Y/N knew she had gone too far and grabbed his hands again. “Joe? Joe listen to me, tell me 5 things you can see. C’mon, just 5 things.” Joe breathed in sharply as he looked around “Umm...I see...you, the blue wall, ummm...a baby cherub statuette, the fireplace annnnd...” he looked around desperately hoping something would jump up to be his fifth thing to see. He looked down “and the mug of honey whisky lemon.” “Okay, that’s very good, breathe with me, slowly and deeply. Four things you can feel?” Joe breathed in deep, looking Y/N straight in the eyes, matching her breathing and concentrating, “I feel, you again...the chair, the island and the space-heater.” “Perfect, we’re almost done, keep breathing with me...three things you can hear.” Joe let out a tiny almost unrecognizable giggle though his tears, realizing that Y/N was in most of them. He didn’t mind though, he liked her. “You, again...the space heater again and...a dog outside.” “Brilliant, two things you can smell?” “You once again, and the lemon honey whisky again.” “And one thing you can taste?” Y/N expected him to sip his lemon-honey but, taking her completely by surprise, Joe reached across the table and kissed her, a slow and romantic kiss filled with true gratefulness and a little bit of sad amusement, showing that, for a moment at least, he had put aside the pain that he felt, only for it to surely resurface another day. But this moment is what really meant a lot for both of them, the upward turn, the moment of healing. Y/N loved these moments because she finally was able to see the wonderful, romantic man she one day wanted to marry, and Joe because, he saw truly how much Y/N had helped him and realized how much he loved her and she just always looked so genuinely happy to help him. “You...” he whispered “there, now you’re in every category...” Y/N giggled softly, thank god her mother taught her those therapeutic tips and tricks. Joe was, of course, broken but when he was this blinded by the love and care given by Y/N he could momentarily forget and hopefully, one day, completely heal.
OMG I'm getting noticed by people! It's kinda scary but I hope y'all like my imagines! You can request stories of any of the characters from my list but you can also request characters that aren't on the list but I might take more time to write it... (also ty @darknessisafriend for reposting my Abbé story! I was honestly inspired by you to start posting!)

[Best attempt at] A summary of The Magnus Archives. Contains major spoilers up through the most recent episode (168: Roots).
A kind soul wrote this out for me and put it in my submissions box to help me understand the Magnus Archives.  THANK YOU SO MUCH and SORRY it took me so long to publish this Dx
Major spoilers ahead for anyone else who wants to read!!  But this helped me a lot and I feel like I could keep listening now!  Thanks again!!!
Basic worldbuilding details: There are 14 extra-dimensional Entities that feed on fear (Eye, Web, Corruption, Stranger, Spiral, Hunt, Slaughter, End, Vast, Buried, Desolation, Lonely, Dark, Flesh). Various people serve them, and are trying to bring about apocalypses by bringing them into our dimension.
A Victorian guy named Jonah Magnus thought serving the Eye and bringing about its apocalypse would make him immortal. Through trial and error he learned that an Entity cannot be brought through alone, and he needs to bring through all 14 at once. To accomplish this, he needs to take someone (The Archivist) and have them experience EVERY entity - "experience" in this case means "be afraid it's about to kill them."
Until he manages that, he's been possessing various people over the years by means of sticking his own eyeballs in their heads. When the show starts he's possessing Elias Bouchard, Head of the Magnus Institute.
SEASON ONE: Jonathan Sims becomes the Head Archivist after Gertrude Robinson dies. He's set out to make audio copies of all the statements in the Archives, and he uses a tape recorder for the ones we hear because they won't record digitally. He has three assistants, Tim, Sasha, and Martin. He trusts Tim and Sasha but thinks Martin is incompetent.
Martin gets attacked by Jane Prentiss, who is infested by parasitic worms. Jon lets him live in the Archives because it's safer than going home. The worms start showing up around the Institute, but don't attack anyone (yet).
Sasha meets a man(?) named Michael and learns that the worms can be killed with CO2 gas. They start stocking up on fire extinguishers.
Two deliverymen named Breekon and Hope deliver a spooky table and a cigarette lighter with a spiderweb design on it to the Archives.
Jon smashes a hole in the wall of his office trying to kill a spider, and finds a network of tunnels under the Institute. The tunnels are filled with worms, which attack. Over the course of the attack, Jon and Martin bond a bit, Jon and Tim get partially eaten by worms (mark 1: Corruption), Martin finds Gertrude Robinson's corpse in the tunnels (she was murdered), Sasha gets killed and replaced by a monster that was bound to the spooky table (Not!Sasha), and Elias triggers the Institute's CO2 fire represent system, killing Prentiss. Jon swears to find out who murdered Gertrude if it kills him.
SEASON TWO: Paranoia time. The whole season is basically one long "who killed Gertrude" murder mystery, in which Jon suspects literally all of his coworkers. He works with Basira and Daisy, the two police officers assigned to solve the case, and starts to realize that Gertrude was deeply embedded in the supernatural world (and had access to explosives).
Major events include: Jon investigates the tunnels and doesn't find much. Martin frets a LOT, Jon thinks it's suspicious, but it's pretty clear that he just cares about Jon. It's also revealed that he lied on his CV, and isn't actually qualified for this job, hence his incompetence. Tim becomes very bitter about Jon suspecting him of murder and basically stalking him. Michael shows up again, traps a woman named Helen in a maze of unending corridors, and stabs Jon (mark 2: Spiral). Basira quits the police near the end of the season.
In the season finale, Jon realizes Sasha has been replaced and smashes the spooky table with an axe. This does not kill the monster, instead setting it free to try and kill HIM (mark 3: Stranger). Michael appears and offers him a door into his corridor maze to escape the Not!Sasha, and drops him in the tunnels to fend for himself. Martin and Tim try to find out what Jon's doing, and end up trapped in Michael's corridors themselves.
Jon is saved from the Not!Sasha by a man named Jurgen Leitner, who has a book that can move the walls of the tunnels around (he basically traps it in a wall Cask of Amontillado style). Leitner collected tons of these supernatural books, which are now called Leitners, and has been living in the tunnels for decades. Jon is convinced he's evil, but he reveals that he was working with Gertrude before she died and that Elias killed her. He begins to explain about the Entities, and the fact that Jon works for one (mark 4: Eye), but Jon leaves the room because he needs a cigarette. Elias appears and murders Leitner. Jon returns, finds the body, and flees.
Tim and Martin find their way out of the corridors, find the body, and call the police.
SEASON THREE: Jon is on the run from the police because they think he killed Leitner. He gives a statement about why he always hated Leitner. When he was a child, he found one of Leitner's books, which nearly got him eaten by a giant spider (mark 5: Web). His childhood bully got eaten in his place. Jon is living with his ex-girlfriend, Georgie, while he's in hiding.
Back at the Archives, Daisy (police detective) is convinced Jon is guilty of killing Leitner and Sasha. She's not looking for evidence, she just wants to catch him. Tim is also pretty sure he did it. Martin thinks he's innocent. Elias shows his first hint of supernatural powers by giving a statement about Daisy's first murder, which he just knows without her telling him.
Melanie takes a job at the Archives. She previously appeared to give a few statements. She's the former star of a ghost hunting YouTube show, and now has lost everything due to the circumstances of a few genuine encounters. She recently came back from a trip to India, where (as is revealed later) she was shot by a ghost soldier. She is friends with Georgie.
Basira visits the Archives to try to find Daisy, and runs off again looking for her when she realizes Daisy wants to kill Jon. Martin starts recording statements to "pick up the slack" while Jon's away.
Elias sends Jon statements while he's staying with Georgie, and in a bid to learn more about the supernatural he seeks out various servants of the Entities. Jude Perry nearly burns his hand off (mark 6: Desolation), Mike Crew nearly suffocates him by simulating the feeling of falling off a building (mark 7: Vast), and then Daisy catches him. Daisy kills Crew, and threatens to kill Jon (mark 8: Hunt), but Basira shows up and stops her. They drag Jon back to the Archives.
Everyone confronts Elias. We get confirmation that Jon can "compel" people (force them to answer his questions) but it doesn't work on Elias. Elias confesses to killing both Gertrude and Leitner. Everyone finds out Sasha was replaced during the Prentiss attack. Elias blackmails Basira into joining the Archives under threat of getting Daisy arrested; then turns around and blackmails Daisy into doing his dirty work in exchange for Basira's safety. He reveals that if he dies, or if the Archives are destroyed, anyone who works for the Institute dies too. Elias tells Jon he needs to stop the "Unknowing," which is a ritual the Stranger's servants are trying to complete to bring about the apocalypse.
Jon goes back to Georgie's; we find out she had an encounter with the supernatural when she was in university and now she literally cannot feel fear. Jon is confronted by Orsinov, a living mannequin that works for the Stranger. Orsinov tells him to find a taxidermied gorilla skin she needs for the Unknowing otherwise she'll kill him. He decides to go back to the Archives to get help, but on the way is kidnapped by Orsinov's goons. Orsinov says she's decided to use HIS skin in place of the gorilla one.
He's trapped for a month, and is eventually rescued by Michael, who reveals that he was one of Gertrudes's assistants before she sacrificed him to stop the Spiral's ritual. He wants to kill Jon, but as they are going into his corridors he is replaced by Helen (the woman he trapped in season two) who decides to drop Jon at the Archives instead.
Jon decides to follow in Gertrudes's footsteps to try and find the gorilla skin (to destroy it). He visits an Archive in China, and several locations in America. He is kidnapped by Julia and Trevor (Hunters) and gets on their good side. They let him talk to Gerry Keay (goth ghost that the fandom goes wild over). Gerry gives Jon the rundown on all of the fears, and explains a bit more about Gertrude. Jon agrees to release him from this world by burning a page of the book he's trapped in (this angers Julia and Trevor, which is important later). Jon goes back to England.
They find the gorilla skin in Gertrudes's old storage unit (and explosives), but it has been destroyed. Orsinov exhumes the bodies of Gertrude and Leitner to use their skin instead. There's a stretch of waiting where not much happens.
Jon, Tim, Basira, and Daisy go to a wax museum with Gertrudes's explosives to blow it up in the middle of the Unknowing. Martin and Melanie stay in the Archives to steal the tape with Elias's confession on it and get him arrested for murder.
At the Unknowing, Basira makes it out alive. Daisy kills Hope (one of the deliverymen from season one) but Breekon traps her in The Coffin (this has shown up in several statements before; it's an artifact of the Buried and traps people underground forever). Tim sets off the explosives and dies, while Jon ALMOST does in the same explosion. He ends up in a coma instead.
At the Institute, Martin distracts Elias while Melanie steals the tape. Elias taunts him about his feelings for Jon, then forces knowledge on him about how much his mother hates him (his mother's in a nursing home: caring for her is why he couldn't go to university and had to lie on his CV). Melanie succeeds in stealing the tapes and Martin barely restrains her from killing Elias.
Elias reveals that Jon is trapped in a nightmare realm where he constantly relives the statements of the people who have told them to him directly (not the ones that are written down). He is arrested, and Peter Lukas (servant of the Lonely) becomes the Interim Head of the Institute.
SEASON BREAK: Six months pass. Three major events occur: Martin's mother dies, Jared Hopworth (servant of the Flesh) attacks the Institute and is trapped in Helen's (Micheal's replacement) corridors, and Peter tells Martin that he'll protect the Institute from further threats if Martin works for him and isolates himself from everyone else. Martin, more than a little suicidal due to his mother's death and the man he loves being in a coma, agrees.
SEASON FOUR: Martin's plotline is revealed in drips and drabs throughout the season, and is easier to tell all at once. Basically, Peter convinces him that there's a 15th Entity, Extinction, that is about to emerge into the world and kill everything. This is based on research done by Adelard Dekker, one of Gertrudes's allies. Peter says that Martin is the only one who can stop it, because he has been marked by the Beholding and he is getting closer and closer to the Lonely as he isolates himself. This is enough of a threat that Martin sticks with his plan despite several opportunities to leave.
Jon's plot starts with Oliver Banks giving a statement in his hospital room and telling him he's too human to live, too much of a monster to die (mark 9: End). If Jon decides to stay human he will die; if he gives into the Beholding he will live. Oliver leaves; Jon wakes up. Georgie is disappointed that he gave into the Beholding, and walks away. Basira is cold and practical, following in Gertrudes's 'ends justify the means' logic. She is watching Jon closely, and prepared to kill him if he becomes dangerous. Melanie is boiling with anger and tries to attack Jon whenever they're in a room together.
Jon reads a Slaughter statement and knows (by supernatural means) that Melanie is becoming a servant of the Slaughter because the bullet that the ghost shot her with is still in her leg. He and Basira perform amateur surgery to get it out. Melanie stabs him in the shoulder (mark 10: Slaughter). She is, understandably, furious, but she becomes calmer as she heals and she starts going to therapy.
Breekon (the surviving deliveryman) drops off the coffin. Jon displays a new power by extracting a statement from him. He learns that Daisy is still alive, but trapped in the coffin. Basira leaves the Archives based on information from a "source" (Elias, though Jon does not know this yet). Jon learns that he can go into the coffin and get out again if he has an anchor to the real world. He tries to cut off his own finger, fails, and under Melanie's advisement finds Jared Hopworth (Flesh servant who attacked when he was in a coma) in Helen's corridors. Jared removes two of Jon's ribs (one to keep and one for Jon) and gives a statement (mark 11: Flesh).
Jon goes into the coffin (mark 12: Buried) and finds Daisy. She is much more clear-headed than before, because she has been separated from the Hunt for so long. Jon cannot feel his anchor (rib) at first, but the signal is amplified when Martin places a bunch of tape recorders on top of the coffin. Jon leads Daisy out, and both are extremely confused by all the tape recorders.
Jon and Basira find out that the servants of the Dark might be trying a ritual in Norway, and head off to stop them. On the way, Jon forces a sailor on the boat they're on to give a statement. Basira is disturbed, but doesn't try to stop him. (Back in the Archives, Martin hears from another person who Jon took a statement from, and is rightfully horrified.) In Norway, Jon and Basira learn that the Dark's ritual failed the same week Gertrude died, though there's still an artifact - the Dark Star - left from it. Jon destroys the Dark Star by literally just looking at it, though it nearly kills him (mark 13: Dark). Helen gives them a shortcut home through her corridors.
Martin leaves a tape of his conversation with the person Jon took a statement from on Basira's desk. Jon confesses that he's done this to five people. He promises not to do it again (from this point on, both he and Daisy grow weaker as they try to resist the Beholding and Hunt, respectively).
Jon, Basira, Daisy, and Melanie visit Hill Top Road (I cannot even begin to explain Hill Top Road, there's so much going on and there's no answers yet. Best I can say is it's been strongly affected by both the Web and the Desolation, and there seems to be some warping of reality in the basement.) They find a statement from Annabelle Cain (main servant of the Web) that's basically one long taunt to Jon about how the Web may or may not be orchestrating everything. Main takeaway from this is that once he starts reading a statement, he cannot stop.
Jon finds out how to quit the Institute, via an old tape from Gertrude. Her assistant, Eric Delano (Gerry Keay's father) escaped the Institute by gouging out his own eyes. Jon runs to Martin with this information and begs him to run away together, but Martin refuses. Jon tells Melanie, Daisy, and Basira. Melanie decides to act on this information, and puts her eyes out with an awl. She goes to live with Georgie, who she is dating by this point. Daisy and Basira stay in the Archives.
Season finale, Peter launches his plan. He and Martin head into the tunnels under the Institute. While down there, Peter frees the Not!Sasha and sends it to attack the Institute. He brings Martin to the Panopticon of Milbank Prison, and explains that Jonah Magnus's original body is still in the center of the Panopticon watching EVERYTHING. Elias shows up (he escaped from jail) and reveals that he IS Jonah Magnus. Peter says that Martin needs to kill Jonah's original body and take his place. From the Panopticon, he will be able to learn how to stop the Extinction (it will also trap him there forever). Martin realizes he's been manipulated and refuses, because even though the Extinction is a threat he doesn't want to sacrifice himself just so Peter can win against Elias. It is revealed that Peter and Elias formed a bet: if Peter could get one of the Institute staff to willingly join the Lonely, he would be allowed to kill Elias and take over the Institute forever. Since he failed (Martin is close to the Lonely but doesn't entirely serve it) he instead traps Martin in the Lonely, and then goes in himself.
Meanwhile, Jon finds out that the Extinction isn't as immediate a threat as he thought, and that Martin has gone with Peter to complete his plan. Jon tries to get help from Georgie, Melanie, and Helen, but all refuse. Basira and Daisy inform him that Elias escaped from prison, and they find a tape revealing that he is Jonah Magnus. All hell breaks loose at this point. Julia and Trevor (the Hunters from season three who he stole Gerry's page from) show up to try to kill Jon, and they run into Not!Sasha, which has escaped from the tunnels. Basira and Daisy tell Jon to run and help Martin. He does. Daisy makes the decision to lean into the Hunt again, and makes Basira promise to find her and kill her once it's all over. Basira agrees (unwillingly) and runs. Daisy attacks the Hunters and Not!Sasha.
Jon finds Elias at the Panopticon. Elias explains where Martin has gone, and Jon dives into the Lonely after him (mark 14: Lonely). Jon meets Peter in the Lonely, takes his statement, and kills him. He finds Martin and manages to save him.
Jon and Martin flee to one of Daisy's old safehouses in Scotland. Twenty-two days after they arrive, they receive a package that they think is from Basira containing a bunch of statements and tapes for Jon. Martin leaves to take a walk, and Jon reads a statement. It turns out to be from Elias (Jonah) explaining his whole plan with marking Jon with the Entities and various ways he manipulated events so that that would happen. Jon is unable to stop reading, and at the end of the statement is an invocation that brings all fourteen Entities through into the world. Martin makes it back to the safehouse, and they watch the world end together.
SEASON FIVE: Jon and Martin are still in the safehouse. Martin wants to leave and kill Elias, Jon wants to stay at least a bit longer to grieve the world. They could stay forever: they no longer need food, water, or sleep to survive. Jon's been constantly relistening to the tapes from the package that was delivered, and there's some backstory revealed in them: Gertrude had planned on Sasha being her replacement once she died, and had made a tape with all the information she would have needed to stay alive. She suspected that if the Entities came through into the world, they would be here to stay, and that things like space, time, and the laws of physics would stop working. There's also some nostalgic stuff with Tim and Sasha.
Jon gets hit with the knowledge that the safehouse is not actually safe, and is feeding on Jon and Martin's fear of losing each other. He and Martin agree to leave, setting out on a quest to kill Elias and try to save the world.
The structure of this new world is revealed: each fear has taken up a domain in which it is the primary source of fear for the people trapped in it, and Jon and Martin need to pass through all of them before they can get to the Panopticon and Elias. So far they've been through the Slaughter, the Corruption, the Stranger, the Buried, and the End. People are only dying in the End; in the others, there is no escape from the horror. Any time Jon gets too close to one of these domains he is overwhelmed by the fear and needs to give a statement about it. The first time, Martin just stuck his fingers in his ears, but since then he's been going on walks so he doesn't have to hear.
Annabelle Cain (Web) tries to call Martin via a payphone; he doesn't pick up.
Jon realizes he can know basically anything he wants to, and Martin asks him a series of questions, learning that: Daisy is Hunting between the domains; Basira is chasing her, planning to kill her but starting to doubt that; Melanie and Georgie are in London but he can't see them clearly; Elias is in the Panopticon; Jon and Martin are safe, traveling like they are; Jon can't see Annabelle AT ALL; and the world can be turned back if the fears are removed, but the fears can't be destroyed as long as there are people left to fear them.
Helen shows up to "check up on the happy couple" and try to make friends. Martin asks if her corridors can give them a shortcut to London, but Jon's powerful enough that he would hurt her if he tried to do that. She leaves.
They run into the Not!Sasha in the Stranger's domain. It threatens them, but cannot actually hurt them. It taunts them about Sasha, and Jon kills it. Martin is very impressed.
Helen shows up again, and explains that there are two roles people can take in this new world: afraid or feared. Jon has the ability to make something that is feared afraid, and doing so destroys the feared things utterly (this is how he killed Not!Sasha). Martin wants to go on a murder spree killing any monsters they come across; Jon does not. Helen leaves again.
While Jon is giving a statement Annabelle calls Martin on a cellphone. He answers, and she offers him help. He refuses and hangs up.
Jon reads Martin's mind and learns about the conversation with Annabelle. Martin is annoyed, and Jon promises not to do it again. They stop for a rest. Martin starts wondering about Gertrudes's past, and Jon launches into a statement about it: one of her assistants fell to the Web and killed a bunch of her other assistants, and Gertrude never trusted anyone after that. It is also revealed that if an Archivist dies, their assistants are free to leave the Institute without gouging out their eyes.
Jon and Martin are both disturbed by the statement and by the fact that neither of them could stop it. Jon explains that Gertrude would have lost purpose in the apocalypse without anyone to trust, and that Martin is giving HIM purpose. He also explains that all servants of the Entities have a domain in this new world. His is the Panopticon, and Martin DOES NOT want to know what his own is.
The most recent episode was the End's domain, run by Oliver Banks (the guy who woke Jon from his coma). This statement explained that the End is still killing people permanently, and there is no new life coming into this world; therefore, the End will eventually start stealing victims from other fears. This will ultimately deplete all human and animal life which will kill the Entities themselves and leave an empty universe.
UNADDRESSED TOPICS:
What do the Spiders want? It's surprisingly easy to leave out any traces of the Web's influence from this summary, but Jon is still carrying the cigarette lighter with the web design from season one and he doesn't seem to notice it, several important tapes he's found have been covered in cobwebs, and Annabelle is clearly targeting Martin.
Random plots that have less impact on the main story! This completely skips over characters like Mikale Salesa and Maxwell Rayner, and other oft-appearing but easily missed background people. If there are any in particular you're curious about let me know, but I don't THINK any of them are going to show up again.
Random plots that I don't know if they're going to have an impact on the main story! Agnes Montague, Gertrudes's assistants, everything with Hill Top Road - I have no idea what about their stories is going to be important from this point forward. Maybe everything, maybe nothing.
My askbox is always open if you've got any questions (@cirrus-grey). This is a broad summary that misses out a LOT of details!

[1] [2]
In the following weeks, as he sees Jon a few more times, Gerry's hair fades out and he looks rather more 'forest nymph' than 'American Gothic'.
So it's not much of a shock when the next time Jon catches sight of Gerry striding through the library stacks, his hair has been re-coloured. This time it's a smooth buttery yellow and Jon is struck by how young the warm, bright colour makes him look.
Gerry doesn't feel young though, he feels tired and bored and wrung out, and he wishes he had never agreed to take art commissions.
"It's only the one time!" Gertrude had insisted to a very put upon Gerry, very early in the morning. "And if he puts in a good word for you in his circles, your name will really be on the map in the art world."
Gerry wasn't particularly interested in being put on any maps, or being picked apart by rich, stuck up strangers, but he had agreed to try, mostly because Gertrude had put a lot of effort into making his passion for art an actual career and he felt like he owed her.
(He forgets, frequently, just how much of a commission she takes on the sales of his paintings).
So there he was, striding around the library at 7 am and desperately looking for exactly the right reference book. Unfortunately, it has been out of print for years, and Gerry can't seem to find a copy anywhere that won't cost him half a liver. He has the money now, but he refuses to pay half a month's rent to a second-hand retailer on principle.
Jon watches him skulk around for so long, (apparently forgetting that he is, in fact, a librarian) that Sasha comes out from her desk to ask Gerry if he's looking for something specific. She's wearing her big round glasses today and even indulged herself in her favorite waistcoat to beat the Monday blues.
"Why, yes." At this, Gerry looks directly up at Jon, where he is standing and watching him from the upper balcony level. Jon's face burns, and he ducks out of sight, but not earshot. "I do actually come here to borrow books, not boys." And he smartly feeds her the name of the reference book he has been hunting for almost an hour.
Sasha giggles at his antics, "We do have a copy of that, actually, but it's very popular. There's a waitlist; also it's checked out right now."
Gerry's whole demeanor sags and he sighs in defeat. "Guess I really will just have to order it off the internet, then." He eyes the stacks of books, old and new, looking vaguely betrayed.
"No!" Sasha's exclamation takes everyone a bit aback, being that they are in a library and all. "You know, my mate has this sweet little bookstore, and he loves hunting down rare copies of older books, he might have a copy?" She wrings her hands, eyebrows raised in question.
Gerry beams down at her, causing even stoic Sasha to blush and scurry off to get a piece of paper for the address.
They're already most of the way to the front desk by the time Jon realizes just which bookstore Sasha is busy recommending to the man he is dating , and just who owns that particular establishment.
By the time he manages to get downstairs to try to deflect the situation, Gerry is out the door, nothing left but the faint scent of oil paints and leather from his jacket.
***
Tim Stoker leaves Gerry feeling faintly dazed. By the time he stumbles out of the bookstore and into the tea room, elusive book in hand, he's forgotten everything he has ever known in the face of such intense flirting. And Gerry thought he was bad.
Throughout the whole episode at the library, the walk through Chelsea, and the exchange with Tim, Gerry had never once taken a moment to consider that Sasha's friend with a bookstore and Jon's Martin with a bookstore might be the same person.
He chooses to blame the lack of sleep and general disarray that is his life for the oversight.
Which is how, 9:30 in the morning, having been awake for almost 24 hours and completely finished, Gerry walks up to Martin in his tea room and says, "I'll have whatever is pink and in that jug, please. The biggest you've got."
Martin, of course, recognized him immediately. He would have recognized Jon's gothic childhood boyfriend from his social media stalking alone, but Jon's frantic texting was also a pretty big giveaway.
Martin: Relax, I don't bite clients this early in the morning. He's in safe hands with me.
Jon: HE KNOWS THINGS ABOUT ME. Besides, who's gonna stop him from biting you?
Martin: Whatever he has to tell me can’t possibly be worse than the office gossip I heard about you before we even meet.
Jon: W H A T
Now, here Gerry is before him, and he’s quite pleased with what he sees. Even tired and vaguely dazed, his presence in the little room carries a certain energy that Martin enjoys.
"Right away. Take a seat and I'll call you with it." Martin's voice is sweet, but gentle and firm, in a comforting sort of way. Through Gerry's sleepy haze, the instruction makes perfect sense, although he has neither paid nor offered a call name.
Gerry considers taking a seat on the plush bench that occupies one wall, before deciding that he desperately needs a cigarette, and wandering outside.
Technically he is only supposed to smoke at night when he's painting and needs just the right kind of boost, but he decides to call this one since he's on a painting-based errand when he's supposed to be sleeping.
"Gerry?" He turns toward the sound of his name, to find the barista offering him a large to-go cup of what he assumes is fruit ice tea. He frowns at having his name known (his new, much-preferred name, no less) and then frowns at a blonde, bespectacled man in a tea room attached to a bookstore.
His brain finally takes a moment to function, and he puts all the pieces together in an avalanche.
"Martin?" Far from his usual self-confident tone, the single word comes out in a squeak that would make even a toddler wince.
"Yes?" Martin returns the single word in the same solidly reassuring way, and even offers a happy smile.
"I didn't... I didn't recognize you."
"Would be pretty hard for you, considering this is the first we've ever met." Martin's voice is calming in a way that eases Gerry a bit, teasing and all.
"Thank you. For the tea, I mean." Gerry closes his eyes and desperately begs his shit to pull together for him, just this one time. "It's nice to finally meet you."
His hands are fully occupied with a book, a cup of tea, and a cigarette, but Martin doesn't seem particularly bothered by the lack of a hand to shake. "It's nice to meet you too. We're giving Jon a heart attack by doing it without him."
"That is the lawful good," Gerry says, after a long drag of his smoke. "A panicked Jon is a happy Jon, after all. Whatever would he do with himself without a situation to unnecessarily complicate?"
"Yes, the man does seem to thrive on anxiety, doesn't he?" Martin asks warmly, eyes crinkling around a fond smile. "Speaking of, you seem pretty wrecked yourself. Good party, I hope."
Gerry's answering laugh has a razor edge, "Not hardly. This fucking painting I'm working on will be the death of me." Gerry lifts the reference book as proof of trauma and stabs out his cigarette viciously.
"Hmm, sounds like a pain. I hope you typically find art a more enjoyable career?" Martin asks, tilting his head inquisitively. His curly hair moves fetchingly and Gerry catches himself tracking the movement.
"Mostly, yes. Although I keep the bartending gig for variety. You'd be amazed at the sort of inspiration someone can find in the right drunk crowd." Gerry grins, thinking of all the ridiculous things he’d seen walk in and out of the bar in his run there.
"I'd be very interested to see what kind of art you can turn that into. Maybe you'd like to show me sometime?" Martin's words are open and friendly.
Gerry eyes him for a minute, hiding behind a long taste of his drink. He's trying to suss out Martin's motivations, for his kindness and general geniality. The drink is good and it tips Gerry's mood far enough back into cheerfulness that he shrugs off his considerations for the time being.
"You know what," Gerry quips back. "I think I would like to show you sometime. How 'bout tonight."
It's not a question really, with Gerry's typical force of personality behind it, and he leaves the shop with Martin holding an address in his hand and a time to drag Jon over for dinner that evening.
***
Gerry does not make a big deal of Martin coming over. He acts as if any other friend is coming over for dinner.
He tidies, a little. Lights a few candles. Wears pants. The bare minimum really.
He isn't trying to impress anyone, he tells himself sternly.
Except he is, obviously. He doesn't know Martin very well yet, but he does want to keep Jon around, and they are a packaged deal these days. Which he was happy with, truly.
In their limited interaction, Martin had been sweet and put Gerry instantly at ease. He knows, from many years of working a bar, how to spot a dipshit, and feels confident in his assessment of Martin's character.
But, it's his own character that concerns him. People don't always like Gerry past surface interactions. He can be tempestuous and moody, and catching him tired is a pretty bad idea. The combination of artist and mommy issues can be jarring.
He desperately wants those things to not bother Martin though. He wants Martin to like him, and he's not interested in putting on a show to make it happen.
It occurs to Gerry an hour before they're due that he doesn't even remotely know what takeout to order for dinner.
(He knows what Jon will eat, and he obviously knows what he likes, but what about Martin? Why didn't he ask this morning? Why didn't he ask Jon earlier?)
Gerry is just starting to really panic about all the life choices leading up to this moment, when he gets a text from an unknown number, instantly filling him with relief.
Martin: Since you're hosting this time, I'll grab the take-out. Jon says you like Thai, I'll bring that. You got the drinks covered?
Gerry: As long as you drink either coffee, vodka, or water, yes.
Martin: I'm sorry, I subsist only on the blood of virgins.
Gerry: Oh dear. I couldn't tempt you to settle for Earl Grey?
Martin: Hmmm, yes, I'll accept your offerings this time.
***
The first knock comes right on time. Gerry, dressed in his best paint-stained jeans and cherry blossom kimono, opens the door with a flourish.
Martin allows himself to be welcomed in and hands the food off to the dramatic artist, who deposits it on the table where he has already set the tea tray.
"No Jon? Not that I mind quality ‘us’ time, of course."
Martin is busy taking in the rambling studio space and barely spares the attention to respond, although he manages a blush at the flirty tone. "He's, uh, running late. Work stuff. You know Jon."
Gerry smirks at that. "I do indeed. Is it a 'stumble in at 3am' late, or 'we could probably wait to eat' late?"
"Hmmm? Oh, let's wait a bit? If you don't mind." Martin seems equally taken with his painting wall and his book wall and keeps trading his attention between the two. The paintings, being the larger attraction, eventually win, and he meanders over to study them closer.
"Do you keep all the completed paintings around?" His voice is soft and reverent, and Gerry feels a rush of pride for his work.
"For a while. I like to make sure they're in their final forms before I release them into the wild." Martin blinks big brown eyes at him, before grinning and giggling slightly.
"You're very talented. Jon said as much, showed me the pictures, but words and photos are nothing compared to seeing the real thing." Martin really regards his paintings as if they're special, and rather than the prickly feeling of appraisal he feels during gallery nights, it fills Gerry with warmth.
He turns to examine the wall himself. It's filled with an eclectic group at the moment. Large abstracts made by pouring paint and then layering designs over, three-dimensional pieces painted and then embroidered or quilled over in select places, including a particularly wild eye design. Surreal faces and scenes that seem realistic except for the wild subject matter of planets in meadows and chimeras going to battle.
"Is this what comes from your adventures in bartending?" Martin asks Gerry, turning from the wall and towards the slightly taller man.
"That, and my traumatic childhood." Gerry makes sure to laugh at the last, taking the edge off the small confession.
"Obviously." Martin offers.
"Obviously." Gerry accepts.
***
Gerry and Martin drink tea on the floor while they wait for Jon. Gerry gently prods Martin through the story of how he came to open the bookstore. The blonde man even softly confessing that he had to lie on his CV to get the librarian gig at Magnus.
"How old are you? How did you convince them you had a Master's degree?" Gerry is incredulous. Not that he doesn't think Martin could have an advanced degree. But in paranormal research? Gerry hadn't even known that was an option.
"That's the thing! I'm only 29 now . I worked there for five years!" Martin's voice pitches up in disbelief. "I'm still in shock that anyone ever brought it. Desperate times, desperate measures, you know?"
"I do, actually." Gerry shifts slightly, adjusting his balance with the long remembered urge to flee from those desperate times. He fiddles with his teacup to distract himself. He brought this particular set from a pawn shop because the filigree and florals appealed to his love of colour theory. Soft pinks and corals warm against the cool aqua background.
"Jon says you wanted to go to art school when you two were younger."
It's not a question, but merely Martin offering the same space for openness that Gerry had given him.
"I never went. After my A-levels, I had to get away, and I never really stopped moving for long enough to go to uni when I was younger. Now I'm settled and it's not important to me anymore. Besides, no one asks for a copy of my phantom degree when I sell a painting. So I'm happy with how things turned out for the most part." He stops to consider the outline of a possible past for a moment, one where he didn't have to skip college and go ten years without seeing Jon. "Besides, can you imagine a 27-year-old in art school? The young ones would sacrifice me for more creative talent."
Their eyes meet for a moment, and then they laugh easily and move on to different topics, sliding through the easy stages of getting to know each other.
***
Jon does eventually arrive, looking panicked and harried. He de-ages 10 years when he finds them laughing and relaxed instead of tense and awkward.
So, the three of them eat cold Thai take out on the floor of Gerry's loft, leaning against the perfectly good couch. They share the odd intimacy of people who have known each other for very disjointed amounts of time but like each other just the same.

Entry 36: Chucking Infants into Pocket Dimensions
Before we go on to Conquest, I’m going to do the Birthright Paralogues. They all fit into a theme, in case you couldn’t tell, one that will cause three-four Supports per update to be centered on a new character.
So, between entries 20 and 21, Corrin and Kaze got married. That unlocked two new Paralogues. Now, for no reason in particular, let’s talk about how Paralogues worked in Fire Emblem Awakening. Halfway through Awakening, you learn that Marth, the mysterious masked swordsman who has been helping you out throughout the game, is actually a future version of Chrom’s daughter Lucina, who traveled back in time to stop her father’s murder. After the time travel sub plot is introduced, you can begin unlocking Paralogues by having the Shepherds marry one another. In each Paralogue, you meet one of Lucina’s companions, also a child of one of the Shepherds. In Awakening, the name and personality of the child was determined by the mother, but the father determined their stats, giving which units you pair up meaning. Now, the time travel children storyline wasn’t perfect, few things in Awakening were, but it at least made sense in the game. Awakening’s story revolved around two things: time travel and the bonds between units. And the child units fit in with that story and those themes, as well as giving important gameplay ramifications to the dating sim elements. Now that I’m done talking about the Fire Emblem game that heavily, heavily inspired the direction of Fates, let’s play the Paralogue that unlocks when Corrin gets married.
Paralogue 2: Dragon Blood
The chapter begins by showing us Kana, a mini version of Corrin with Kaze’s hair color, who talks about how his mother is going to visit today. Kana is attacked by spooky ghost men and Corrin, his mother, runs in to save him.
So, Corrin is a mother now. How, you might ask, considering the fact that she and Kaze got married mid-battle yesterday? Well, it’s simple. As the narration that played when Corrin and Kaze got married stated, Corrin and Kaze chucked their infant son into a pocket dimension immediately after he was born. And, because time flows differently in the pocket dimensions, he’s like twelve now. They also must have left Corrin there for nine months, unless pregnancies happen overnight in this world.
Now, this raises a few questions. Why weren’t these pocket dimensions ever mentioned or used in the story of Birthright? Why didn’t Corrin and Kaze stay with Kana to raise him? Who thought this was a good idea? And, sadly, none of these questions will ever be answered.
Kana transforms into a Feral Dragon and the battle begins. This battle features the gang picking off enemies in a large field. There are Dragon Veins to raise and lower the river levels, which may have made the map interesting, but I didn’t use them. Kana is a green unit during this chapter, but spent it stationary at the top of the map. On turn eight, two capturable bosses, a pair of idiot berserkers named Lloyd and Llewyn showed up; I captured one of them and killed the other.
Corrin gives Kana a dragonstone, Kana whines until Corrin takes him with her, and the chapter ends without me ever being given a reason to care about Kana.
Now, let’s go back to what I said about Awakening. In Awakening, the child characters worked because they were tied into the story. In this game, they’re tacked on in the laziest, most nonsensical way. I get why they exist, Awakening was a success and this game tried to replicate everything it did, but it just doesn’t work. In Awakening, the player has a reason to collect the children, to reassemble Lucina’s lost team. But, without that reason or any story significance, I am left apathetic at best and annoyed at worst towards these units. It especially hurts that this chapter gave me little characterization for Kana beyond “cute child soldier”.
Kana
Kana, Corrin’s child. Their gender is always the opposite of Corrins; because Kana actually has different Supports based on gender, I shall use the names Mana and Fana instead. Design wise, they where Corrin’s outfit, but with a blue scarf that looks like a collar. Both forms of Kana have terrible haircuts for different reasons. Kana’s personal skill, Draconic Heir, heals them if they have a dragonstone equipped; this makes Kana more dragonstone based than Corrin, who has an overpowered sword. My main problem with Kana is their personality, or lack there of. Kana is characterized as...cute. Cute and needy. Which is both boring, and again, kinda messed up. Worse, like Corrin, the game seemingly forgets their animalistic dragon form after this chapter, which is a waste.
Now, let’s talk about how child Supports work. All children have one Support with their father (or mother in Shigure and Mana’s case) and one with their mother. Because their mother is not set, the mother conversation is vague and rewritten with slight variations. I am not going to read the same Support ten times for each child, and will instead just read the Corrin version.
Support Fana/Corrin
C: Corrin finds Kana carrying boxes so she can earn money. Corrin asks what Kana needs money for and Kanna refuses to tell.
B: Kana buys Corrin a ring as a gift.
A: Corrin gives Kana a ring as a gift.
Review: I already didn’t like Kana and damn did this Support not help things.
Support: Kana/Mother
Odd thing I need to note about this one; Fana has a unique Support with Corrin but Mana just has the generic mother Support. It’s weird. I assume during planning the writers were told to have each child have one Support with Corrin, one with their mother, and one with their father, resulting in a Corrin Support that could only be used for one Kana. Still, it’s odd.
C: Kana picks their mother flowers. Their mother likes them, but explains to Kana that picking flowers kills them. Something Kana did realize, because child soldier.
B: Kana shows their mother pretty flowers.
A: The mother shows Kana the collection of flowers they've picked over time.
Review: The problem with Kana is that Kana is just cute. No other personality traits beyond “child”. This Support is fine, but it’s also dull and doesn’t make Kana a deeper character. Also, Corrin being a parent is weird because Corrin’s whole personality centers on them being naive, but Corrin as a parent acts calm and responsible.
Support: Mana/Father
C: Mana complains about Corrin always treating him like a child, when he wants to help her out more. His father tells him the thing he does to make Corrin happy. Kana suggests they have a contest on who can do the most things for Corrin.
B: Mana ties with his father in the contest.
A: Corrin tells Mana to stop doing chores and play with his friends who I haven't recruited yet. His father explains that Corrin just wants him to enjoy his childhood while he can. Mana insists his father relax to.
Review: I switched between Silas, Kaze, and Jakob while reading this one and had no problem following it, which goes to show that parents have all the personality of tofu in these ones. That said, Corrin wanting Mana to have a happy childhood is nice. Perhaps an attempt by her to ensure he doesn’t have a lonely upbringing like she did.
Mana and Shigure, Azura’s son, can also have a sibling Support. Not with each other, I mean, with other children.
Support: Kana/Sibling
C: Mana and his sibling start patrolling the camp.
B: Mana and his sibling continue patrolling the camp.
A: Mana asks his sibling to teach him to be stronger.
Review: I fell asleep while reading this one, causing this update to be a day late.
Now that I think about it, Man isn’t twins with his sibling. Mana is explicitly called younger in the B-Rank. Which means Corrin was pregnant for like two years between battles. Azura too, for Shigure to have siblings. Also, why were the kids placed in different Outrealms? Wouldn’t it make more sense to keep all of them, or at the very least the royal siblings and cousins, together?
Wait a minute. Did I just get through an entire update without a bad S-Rank Support? Is this what happiness feels like?

Breathe in the Salt - Chapter 2
AO3
It's pouring outside, and expectations are met with varying success.
There are new faces in the lighthouse.
Martin, big as he was, didn’t get much mileage out of umbrellas, especially when the rain decided that falling straight down would be too convenient. There was just too much of him to cover, and as he walked his way up the cliff side that morning, umbrella in hand, he considered just turning back and leaving the day’s work for Saturday. It wouldn’t be so terrible, skipping a day. With no one to check in on him, he had every right to finish things up later.
He thought of his home on the rocky beach and kept moving upward. Already soaked through, there wasn’t much point turning back, now was there? And he had already made it through the worst of the muddy path anyway. He would just hang his jacket up somewhere in the kitchen when he got to the lighthouse, maybe his shoes too while he was at it.
The walk was loud with the rain and splashing footsteps of the usually morning passerby. The weather gave Martin ample reason to keep his head down, and if it hadn’t been for a loud crack of thunder making him jump and peek up at the sky, he wouldn’t have looked up at all. The lighthouse was stark white against the storm clouds, and in the small lot tucked to the right side of the building, were several unfamiliar cars and one very nice familiar one.
Martin groaned. “Peter.” He mentally patted himself on the back for not giving into his lazier impulses. Of course Peter changed his plans with no notice. He was so rich that the concept of people having time for anything other than his use probably never occurred to him. Hopefully this time it wasn’t another weird congregation of his fellow old rich men from the next town over. The last time Peter had had to postpone a boating trip for business, it had left him in a foul mood for weeks, and Martin was the one to deal with it.
The other cars in the lot didn’t read as particularly nice, but Martin didn’t know much about cars and couldn’t judge on a clear day, nevermind one like this. He considered using the back entrance, but he was already tired and wet and ready to make himself from tea. Up the dark stone steps, he found the main door unlocked and quietly let himself inside, hoping that Peter and whoever his guests were had already-
“Martin! A bit late, aren’t we?” Peter’s voice rang out through the building, making Martin wince. Martin closed his umbrella and looked across the main room to see Peter and three distinctly not-old-men staring at him. They looked somewhere around his age, though at his ripe age of twenty-nine, it was hard to tell between early twenty-somethings and those pushing forty. “Hope this doesn’t mean I have to figure out a clock-in system. You know how bad I am with such things.” Peter was smiling in a way that told Martin instantly just how pissed he was to be dealing with whatever this was. Great.
“Oh, um. Yes, the rain made the walk up a bit- sorry. Um, what’s going on?” Martin stumbled through with his usual grace, wanting to shrink down and die with the way the four of them were staring. “You were-”
“Supposed to be on the boat this morning, yes,” Peter said through his teeth.
One of the strangers, the tallest and by far the best-looking with perfectly styled hair despite the rain, raised an eyebrow and shared a glance with the short woman with dark, curly hair pulled back into a half ponytail. Next to her was the shortest of the three, a man with dark skin and even darker, shaggy hair that was just turning gray at the roots, who looked at Martin for a moment before apparently deciding that there was nothing of interest there and impatiently turning back to Peter.
“Some quick introductions and then I’ll be on my way,” said Peter, moving around the three newcomers to walk towards Martin and the door. “One of my beneficiaries, Mr. Bouchard, has requested at very little notice to have some of his own come here for a week or two for research purposes. Incidentally, I will be out for that exact time, starting in a few minutes! Your work documents will be delivered as usual. Just let them do their work, stay in your space, and it’ll be over before you know it.” Before Martin could utter a sound, Peter brushed past him and said, quietly, “Stuffy academic types, the lot of them. Very judgmental I’ve heard.” And then he was out the door. Martin watched him leave and then turned back awkwardly.
“Um. Hi?” Martin waved stupidly, feeling the horrible burn of their gazes. The good-looking one smiled brightly and brought up a hand in friendly recognition.
“Y’know, he said he’d do introductions, but last time I checked my name wasn’t ‘work documents’,” he said, coming forward and putting a hand out, which Martin shook in a daze. The woman behind him snorted. “My name’s Tim Stoker. Behind me is Sasha James, hereby dubbed ‘research purposes’, and our head leader man, Jonathan Sims.” Tim put up a hand in a secretive manner. “A big longer title, ‘It’ll be over before you know it’, but it fits all the same.” He winked, and Martin laughed despite himself. Jonathan rolled his eyes and walked over to the folding table to sift through his work bag. Martin saw this and wanted to kick himself.
“I’m Martin Blackwood, Peter’s assistant. You’re all researchers then? What-” and at that moment, Martin sneezed. “Oh, gosh, excuse me. I’d better at least stop dripping all over the place.” Martin sheepishly walked past Jonathan to the kitchen, shedding his damp coat to hang in the corner. He could feel the wetness in his shoes and socks and for a moment resented his unexpected company but shook the thought away. Taking stock of the cupboard in his mind, Martin popped his head back into the main room.
“I’m making tea if anybody would like some,” he offered. Tim and Sasha were receptive and followed him back to the kitchen, taking off their own coats to hang next to his own and sitting down at the uncomfortably small table.
“Is this thing made for people to sit at?” Tim asked, his long legs bumping against Sasha’s.
“One person, maybe? God, it’s like a university desk.” Sasha replied, purposefully bumping her knee into his to make him move and laughing when we gave an exaggerated noise of pain. Martin smiled a little to himself as he placed the kettle on the stove. Sasha leaned onto her elbows and looked up at him. “So, Martin. Does anyone else work here?” He frowned, keeping his face away from them.
“Oh, um, no. Just me,” He drummed his fingers on the counter. “Peter keeps a pretty small staff and they work in other buildings, so. Yeah. Just me.” Martin could feel the awkward pause coming and continued, turning to lean next to the stove top. “So, researchers! Can’t think of why you’d come to a big old lighthouse. Is this some sort of, I dunno, architecture thing? Testing saltwater? Coming to find a sea monster?”
“Actually, not a terrible guess!” Tim tilted his chair back and linked his fingers behind his head. “Probably not a sea monster, though it would be pretty cool.”
“We’re researchers looking into the supernatural,” Sasha interjected in a more serious tone. “The three of us were sent out here to take some statements and do some investigating into local occurrences. Usually it would just be one of us, but Elias, the Mr. Bouchard Peter mentioned, wanted us all on the ground for this one.”
“It’s ridiculous.” Martin jumped at the sound. Jonathan stood in the doorway, keeping his displeased look trained on the paper in his hands. Tim glanced at Martin in a way that seemed to say here we go. “Just one of us would be good enough to take some statements and be on our way. It’s just a waste of resources.” It was Sasha’s turn to roll her eyes. The way Tim and Sasha seemed to include Martin in this small moment of exasperation made him feel equal parts warm and ashamed at taking humor at Jonathan’s expense.
Sasha replied, “Look Jon, the fact that we were all sent out means there’s probably something really interesting about this place.” Jonathan snorted, finally looking up at her.
“Sure, because Elias has never wasted our time.” He looked back down, content with leaning against the doorway. “We’ll talk to some locals, get some childhood campfire stories, and leave knowing a little bit more about local culture and not much else.” There was a lull in the conversation as Jonathan seemed to check out, satisfied with his point.
“What do you think, Martin?” Tim asked eventually.
“What?”
“Any weird things in this town? Spooky hauntings? Creatures of the deep?” Tim asked further. Before Martin could answer, the kettle began to squeal and he began his tea preparations.
“Oh, nothing that I know of, no. It’s a quiet place.” The sea folk here are definitely quiet, he thought, which he knew was unfair to think. His mother didn’t talk much, certainly, but it’s no reason to be mean. “Oh, Jonathan-”
“Just Jon.”
“Oh, um, okay. Jon, did you want any? Tea, I mean?” Jon looked up at him for a moment and then down again.
“Yes, I suppose so. Whatever is fine.” And then he turned and left the room.
“Oookay.” Martin sifted through the decent amount of tea he had collected over the last few months. He asked for Tim and Sasha’s preferences and did his best to follow them. “Anyway, yeah, I’m not super involved in what goes on in town, to be honest. I live down the cliff side by the shore, so local stuff kind of goes over my head,” Martin said, laughing a bit before biting his tongue. What an awful joke. He carried over the mugs of tea.
“Darn, and here I’d hoped you’d be able to make our jobs a bit easier for Jon’s sake. But hey, we’ll let you know if there’s evil lurking around the corner.” Tim sipped at his tea and seemed satisfied. Sasha did the same.
“If you think of anything, let us know. We got a bit of direction, but it’s not much. We’ll take just about anything,” Sasha said. Martin picked up Jon’s mug.
“Hmm. Well, I guess there’s this one weird thing? It’s probably nothing, but, y’know, it could be helpful.” Sasha and Tim looked at him expectantly, and the tips of his ears grew hot. “It’s just, you guys drove in right? Well, if you start from further away and head toward this building on foot, it doesn’t look right.”
“How do you mean?” Sasha asked, her brows knitting together. Martin struggled for a moment to find the words.
“Like. Like the perspective, I guess? It gets bigger but it feels like it’s going too fast, to the point where I can’t look at it when I come to work. Could just be a weird vertigo thing I have going on, but it would be easy enough to check when it’s not, y’know, pouring outside.” Martin looked at Sasha; she didn’t look entirely impressed, and Martin looked away. “Anyway, it’s probably nothing. I’m gonna-” and as he walked through the doorway, Jon appeared with a much larger stack of documents only for Martin to stumble into him and splash tea all over the papers. Jon jumped back and dropped them, freezing for a moment before looking up with such indignation that he couldn’t speak.
“Oh god, I’m-” Martin began, his face burning hot enough that it should’ve fogged his glasses. “I’m so sorry! I didn’t see you coming back and-” And then he shut his horrible mouth at the sight of Jon’s withering glare.
“Yes, well. It’s as Mr. Lukas said.” He bent down to pick up the soiled papers. “‘It’ll be over before you know it.’” Martin looked back at Tim and Sasha who gave him twin pained expressions.
No words left, Martin grabbed a towel to clean up the mess he’d made. He would do as Peter said, then. Let them do their work, stay in his own space, and, as a bonus step, keep out of Jonathan Sims’ way until things went back to the way they were.
-
The three researchers worked together at the folding table, grumbling at the lack of space, though Tim at least stopped complaining when he saw Martin’s tiny tray of a desk tucked away into the corner.
Martin got through his work, though the extra sounds echoed so much louder than when it was just him, and his pace was slowed a bit as he struggled not to eavesdrop. Still, he finished early as he had intended and began his trek up the spiral stairs to complete the list.
“Oh, are you heading up to the top? I’ve never been in a lighthouse before,” Tim said, stretching out of his cramped position at the table. “Mind if I tag along to stretch my legs?”
Martin thought for a moment and said, “I guess that should be fine? Though it’s not gonna look like much right now.”
“I’ll take it.” Tim stood and looked at his coworkers. “You coming, Sash’? Jon?”
Sasha stretched as well and got up, elbowing Jon lightly and pointing her chin towards the stairs. “C’mon, let’s take a break.” Jon stared for a bit before sighing.
“Fine.”
Martin led the way up, conscious the whole way of how slow he walked in comparison to the others. The walk itself was quiet only for the echoes of their footsteps bouncing around the cylindrical structure and the rain battering from outside. Martin kept his eyes on his feet, making sure to use the handrail. Tim, who started the climb up in the middle of the stairs, soon found himself clinging to the rail as well.
“I definitely believe you about the whole vertigo thing. I can feel it just walking up this place, and I don’t even have a thing about heights,” Tim said, doing his best to keep his tone upbeat.
“Yeah, I’d say you get used to it, but I still haven’t after months of this.” Martin let them lapse back into total silence, and when they reached the top, the researchers breathed a sigh of relief. Martin walked to his work station while they looked out the large panes of glass. Jon sniffed.
“Well, Tim, I hope it was worth it to see more fog.” He stepped away from the glass, tapping his foot impatiently. “We might as well start back down.”
“Oh, calm down,”” Sasha said. “We’ll let Martin finish. Besides, we need a break from all the walking.” Sasha walked past the window panes and then squinted as if in thought. “It was still raining, wasn’t it? When we started up here?”
“Must’ve stopped at some point,” Tim said, looking up in the direction of the sky.
“Yeah, but, there’s no droplets.”
“What?”
“On the glass. There should be rain droplets, right? There isn’t a large enough overhang to block the rain from hitting them.” Jon stopped tapping his foot and came to stand by them. The three looked out into the fog and then back at Martin, who was too busy with his tasks to pay attention to their conversation.
“Martin?” Sasha asked, jostling him from his concentration.
“Wh-yeah?” Sorry, I’m almost done-”
“That thing that happens when you walk here. Could you show us?”

SIM Tony x Peter, part two
I’ll warn you all upfront, I haven’t gotten any better at writing smut, and this chapter has zero. Actually, this chapter doesn’t even have Peter in it. It’s just a lot of introspection into Tony’s character and how I envision he could slowly slip into SIM-mode. You will likely find this pretty boring.
If you are still willing to read, however, THANK YOU VERY MUCH AND I HOPE YOU LIKE IT!
Read the first part here: part 1
SIM Tony x Peter, part 2
He had drunken himself into a stupor after Peter had left first the living room, and then the tower.
Alcohol had always been one of his vices, and admittedly not the greatest coping mechanism. However, no matter how truly stupid, and sometimes even abhorrent, he behaved under its influence, the morning after often brought with it a new insight and understanding for his problems.
As well as a headache. Jesus!
“Jarvis, hangover protocol.” He rasped at the ceiling.
The A.I. complied immediately with the demand, lowering the shutters on every window to dim the natural light in the penthouse, and started the coffee maker in the kitchen.
“You should find some Tylenol in your bedside drawer, Sir.”
Tony blindly grabbed for the bottle after prying the drawer open, and swallowed two pills dry.
“Should I order you breakfast, or would you prefer to further endanger your health by ignoring your basic bodily needs, as usual?”
The billionaire let out a long and tormented groan as he got up from his bed (for which he mentally patted himself on the back. It wasn't often that his intoxicated mind managed to get his drunk ass into an actual bed, before he passed out)
“Remind me to program the sass out of you later, J.”
He wouldn't
“Certainly, Sir.”
Tony slowly made his way across the room, already able to smell the godly brew that was coffee.
“And that's a no for breakfast. But remind me in a few hours to order something hearty from that one restaurant I like. I'm starting on a new project, and I probably shouldn't 'endanger my health' – as you put it – too much before I get to finish it.”
The coffee was too hot and too strong and exactly what the genius needed right then.
“A new project, Sir? Does this have anything to do with Mr. Parker's visit and subsequent departure yesterday? I should caution you on making any rash decisions. Research shows that people are very susceptible to such upon experiencing rejection.”
Tony winced at that, but blamed it on the temperature of the coffee.
“Okay, J, one: we are not calling it a rejection. Peter loves me, he is just too worried that something might happen to me, if we started a relationship. That's not rejection; that's fear. Two: while this may seem rash, my new project is possibly one of the sanest, safest, and best decisions I have made in my life.”
Which Tony actually believed to be true.
No matter how much he wanted to be angry at Peter for the younger man's unwillingness to take that step with Tony, he couldn't.
Peter's rejection (god how he hated that word) might have been a fear based response, but it wasn't a groundless one. Everything Peter had said last night was the truth.
His enemies were deranged and obsessed with making Spiderman suffer.
Tony was vulnerable without the suit, and there had been instances when his technology had either malfunctioned due to outside tampering, or he himself hadn't been aware of any danger or not fast enough to activate his suit.
The losses Peter had suffered due to his superhero alter ego, had left the younger man scarred and traumatized, and Tony could hardly fault him for that.
Arriving in her personal lab (a space he usually loved to share with Peter, but after the events of yesterday evening, the brunette would probably avoid the lab – and the tower as a whole – for a while) Tony had narrowed down three major obstacles that stood in the way of him and his love.
The first was his suit.
Peter was right. Technology wasn't infallible, and Iron Man was due for an upgrade anyway. For years now, Tony Stark had spearheaded any advancements there were in the field of engineering. It was time to take the next step.
A press of a button and a command typed into his holographic interface, brought up the specs of all of his suits. From the clunky and uncomfortable Mark 1, to the sleek nano-technology Mark 75.
The second problem, was the fragility of his human body.
There would be no point in creating the perfect Iron Man suit, if he fell victim to things like illness, infection, or senility. The age difference between him and Peter was another sore spot. Meeting and falling for the Spiderling when Tony had already been in his late 40's was bad luck, because it would leave them with that much less time to spend with each other. Bruce and Peter, both sharing an interest in the sciences dealing with biology, cross species dynamics and mutations, had figured out that the spider bite that had given Peter his powers, had also slowed down the rate of cell decay in his body. They had estimated that the brunette would likely live way past a hundred years. Which meant that he deserved far more than the maybe 30 to 40 years that Tony still had in him. If Tony wanted to be with his Baby Boy for as long as possible, the too short human lifespan was a hurdle that needed to be overcome.
More tapping on the holographic keyboard opened up all the files he had on the Extremis virus. The genius had isolated the cause of it's recipients exploding two years ago, and fixed it. The only reason he hadn't utilized the new and improved Extremis sooner, was that it was one of those 'too powerful for humanity' things, that morally uptight people like Rogers would frown upon. Also, he hadn't felt that he needed it, placing far more trust and value into his suits. Just goes to show, doesn't it? Even Tony Stark was wrong sometimes.
The third major stepping stone were Spiderman's villains.
This was both the easiest and hardest to fix. The easiest way (and quite frankly the one Tony himself would prefer) was to kill them. Again, Peter was right. It didn't matter how many times the spider-themed hero beat them and handed them over into Shield custody, they always found a way out of their imprisonment. And as soon as they did, their main goal was to make Peter pay.
However, Tony also understood why Peter could never bring himself (or allow anyone else) to eliminate them for good.
Harry had been his best friend since childhood, Conners and Octavius had been mentors, and Eddie Brock had been a pseudo older brother. And even disregarding the personal feelings and history that bound Peter to each man, non of them were technically evil.
Harry had been a terminally ill teenager, hoping to escape his father's fate. The serum he had thought would cure him, had molded and messed up his body and mind, akin to someone who had been drugged or brainwashed.
Conners and Octavius had been decent, even honorable, men, who had sought to use their intelligence and research to help people in need. It had backfired and, as with Harry, twisted their minds, and in Conners case, mutated his body.
Brock had simply been unfortunate to be so compatible with the symbiote that Spiderman had managed to resist and fight off. Being bonded to Venom so thoroughly had changed the man.
The fact that each of the four knew who Spiderman was underneath the mask, but had never shared that information with anyone else, had manifested the believe in Peter that somewhere, deep down, their original, good, selves were still alive. That there was still hope for reversing the transformations, restoring them to the men they used to be.
And while Tony thought it naive, he also understood. After all, it was this penchant to hope where others would have long given up, this forgiveness and purity, that had attracted him to Peter in the first place, when they had just gotten to know each other years ago.
So, no. Tony could never make Peter change his stance on his 'No killing' policy, and he didn't want to.
But neither did he want for his love to keep being haunted by the people who had, if anyone were to ask Tony, lost their right to a second chance long, long ago.
Which meant that Tony would just have to deal with them himself.
More holograms popped up, this time displaying all the information that had been gathered on Doctor Octopus, the Lizard, Green Goblin and Venom. Tony zoomed in on the black alien parasite.
And he knew just where to start.

I thank you all very much for reading and hope you have a wonderful day. Remeber to drink enough water and give yourself frequent breaks if you start getting stressed. Be fair to yourself and treat yourself with kindness, as you deserve no less. Find at least one thing to truly smile about today (and every other day). Also, never be too hard on yourself should you fail at something. Nobody is perfect, and it is often through defeat, that we learn how to overcome many of life’s difficulties.
