I got an Xbox for my birthday a month ago and I recently downloaded Fallout 4 (totally not bc of Buttons..) and I wondered if there’s a specific order to play them? If so, which one should I play first? :}
Depends on how deep you want to get into it, I guess? If they're available on Xbox and you are up for the original turn-based games, I would start with that. Don't let anyone tell you that they're unenjoyable, I played through the original Fallout in 2020 and had a BLAST! So in that case I would go Fallout -> Fallout 2 (I still gotta play this but I keep putting it off because I know I'll be too into it) -> Fallout 3 -> Fallout New Vegas (still gotta finish this myself, might just start over) -> Fallout 4 The latter 3 also have DLC-s you should get, especially for Fo3 and NV.
I've seen people recommend new fans to start with Fo4 and work their way back, I'm not sure why... Playing Fo3 right after Skyrim really showed its age, and the difference is even larger between Fo3 and Fo4. I think it's easier to start with the less intuitive titles and better to start with the original vision but I understand turn-based stuff is not everyone's cup of tea (no I don't, look at how successful Baldur's Gate 3 is and Act 3 was a PILE OF BUGS!). There's also Fallout Tactics as part of the old games but ehh I think it's one of those titles most fans don't count as canon. (Except my ex, who for some reason? thought it was the best shit) And we don't talk about Fallout Brotherhood of Steel. I think you couldn't play that one even if you wanted to, probably for the best. I can't say I recommend Fallout 76, perhaps if you don't have more Fallout content left to consume and you don't mind nonsense lore stuff and just want to hang out with your friends. I have it but I can't say it brings me more joy than idk... Rust. It's just surface level Fallout for me.
This is just my personal take obviously, feel free to ask other fans.
#I want to play Tactics after Fo2 just to see what the fuck he was on#Fallout#personal#text#happy bday btw!

Fallout 76 Review: A Journey from Disappointment to Addiction
Fallout 76 has come a long way! From bugs to an addictive daily grind with deep storylines, it's now one of my go-to games. If you dropped it early, it's worth a revisit! #Fallout76
I first experienced Fallout 76 at its notorious launch in November 2018, and like many, I found the game riddled with bugs, technical issues, and a lack of meaningful content. It was a harsh disappointment, especially coming from a franchise that had set such high standards with its predecessors. However, during the COVID lockdown, curiosity got the better of me, and I decided to give Fallout 76…

Beat Fallout 3 again.
Last time I beat it was like over a decade ago, when I was a wee lad on an Xbox 360.
Someone said that 3 does atmosphere really well, and while I can initially agree, it gets boring after a while. The game as a whole also foreshadows Bethesda's incredible potential for delivering miles and miles of mediocrity.
Mile-wide, inch deep, someone said.
Gonna take a break before I replay New Vegas. Try and shake off the ghost of future past that would lead to 4 and 76.
If anyone's got mods for New Vegas they'd recommend, please let me know. I'm wary of new quests or overhauls, but would love stuff that prevents crashing and bugs.
#Tbh couldn't even be assed to do 3 of the DLCs#Not even Broken Steel#I didnt take a companion either so my canon ending is i turned on the purifier then shidded and dieded

Fallout 4 or 76?
Fallout 4 or 76? Hi.So I have never played Fallout before, I generally do not enjoy FPS or RPG games. The hype from the series has got me interested in trying one of the games. So my question, for someone who only playes single player, never online, which would be the better one to play and why?Am I right to assume 76 didn't do well, especially with very few npc's and bugs but the game has been patched and rectified, updated. All I see was at the time of 76 release most were saying 4 was the better game and more polished. Is this still the case? Should I just play 4 or is 76 worth it? Graphics, detail, mechanics, world, story & single player.Which is the better option for me? Alright this is an unordered list. Could I have taken the time to make a personal best to worst list? Yeah, but you didn't ask for that and on tumblr I poorly RP a human so fucking suffer (ostensibly humans hate eachother by default, right?):
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (Very good, some fucking game shattering bugs. Save on the fish-people world after you talk to EVERY FUCKING PERSON because if you do the final base without talking specifically to some dipshit you just auto die at the end)
Star Wars: The Old Republic (Very good, it's "sort of" free, highly suggest subscribing once just to get access to a fuck load of useful things like quickslot bars)
Dragon Age: Inquisitions (Fucking awesome)
Cyberpunk 2077 (Good, there's only 4 romance options, you can't be a girl and date Panam and if you're not into Judy you might as well just get angry and smash peoples face in with a baseball bat, and if you think Winters is a good romance option ... look, dudes pushy, self entitled, and I'd rather date Kirk, actually ... pepe ... or that girl with the baseball bat outside Lizzies but I think she's taken and this is why it gets a "good" rating. If you're aro then this game is an easy "fucking awesome". Offering romance but making your options extremely limited and just ... kinda shitty ruins a game for me. Do it well or fucking don't have it)
The Ascent (fucking awesome, fuck Poon♡)
Baldurs Gate 3 (very good)
Any of the Borderlands main series games (I'll begrudginly add the Pre-Sequal to this, but my preference is 2, all are very good)
Fallout: New Vegas (fucking awesome)
Fallout 4 (very good, fuck 76 it can die in a fire)
Farming Simulator (it counts because you RP a fucking farmer, fight me)
Neverwinter (very good, though I dislike it's pace greatly)
Path of Exile (fucking awesome)
Saints Row (any title 4 and below, very good, 4 got ... too wild for me)
Warframe (it's very good if you like being a fucking space ninja samurai, yes you're both)
Hey whats ur favorite ever rpg I wanna play one that doesn’t have garbage trash characters pls

Rahmani’s response is along the lines of ‘aah, sorry, I slipped up, please be patient whilst us Westerners learn’. And all I can think is...
Trin: Bitch I’m a ‘Westerner’ too, it’s not hard.
#chaos plays fallout 76#I'm so glad this was included because Rahmani's constant appalaysha-ing was bugging me#let me pull her up on it lol#also immediately after this was the lovely confirmation that the whole of fort atlas have chugged nuka cola my blood's in it#wonder where they got it from

Last Lines Tag
Tagged by the awesome and crazy talented @badastronaut277
Rules: Write the latest line from each of your wips (or post where you last left off in your art) and tag as many people as there are wips you are working on.
First of all, I'm not a writer. Second of all, I, unlike many other artists, have the bad habit of starting a piece and then keeping in purgatory for years until I decide I need to finish it or else.
Here's my WIPs gallery:
I. Sketched my current Fallout 4 character, new OC named Valerie! I'm playing Sim Settlements 2 with her and ignoring most main quests from the game :D this is one is very recent - from the last week
II. Still working on this Hancock piece 84 years later, I think we're finally getting somehwere ??? Spent ages doing the couch lol
III. Another Hancock piece I started ages ago and hated, I don't hate it anymore but it's still stuck in purgatory
IV. Started doing this for my fallout OC Bedelia and her journey from pre-war lawyer, to fresh out of the vault, to General of the Minutemen, and there will be a 4th one of her post-main quest. This piece started from how her hair changes colors, from black during pre-war, to white with black roots thanks to being in cryo when emerging from the vault, to dying it dark blue as the General and the final one would be kind of a dark purple hair dye. This is also stuck in purgatory
V. This is re-draw of a scene from a movie that I really liked (Bright Star) but with Bedelia and Hancock. Stuck in purgatory cause there's something bugging me off about it but I can't figure out what, also all my tries to color this destroyed me
VI. Unfinished sketches of my ghoul OC Mauve (these are basically redrawings of scenes from the movie The Dressmaker - she's just ghoulified Kate Winslet from the movie at this point lol)
VII. Unifinished drawing of a group of femme fatale ghoulettes called The Vixens, this idea is a collaboration with one of my best friends irl, stuck in purgatory weee
VIII. This was a piece I started for Yeehawgust for the Meowdy prompt, never got to finish it
IX. Unfinished drawing of a burned car I saw where I live + mashed with Fallout 76 scenery, stuck in purgatory too
sheesh that's a whole bunch of WIPs :( most of them were started last year or 2 years ago and I never had time to finish them
I'll tag @fuzzyizmit, @atomitron, @pumpkinov, @boarix, @khazrablood, @digonshaikha, @purkinje-effect, @fanthings
as usual, don't feel obligated to do this! if you don't wanna be tagged send me a DM and I'll remove it

If you could cross over two of your favorite games, which would you choose? Please explain, why that crossover would be a good match.
Oh you’re going to regret asking this one, I’m bout to GET SERIOUS.
So Pokemon, obvs, I love the whole world it’s built in, but the games imo are REALLY boring, I haven’t enjoyed one a lot since gale of darkness, the main ones just are a little too linear obvious plots, pretty standard setups for story and style. Speaking of style, the games lack personality, the models aren’t animated well, moves have no dynamic energy or visual difference at times, and the turn based battle style just feels kind of, I don’t know, old? Slow? Just doesn’t suit what I enjoy personally, gives me a FInal Fantasy vibe and I just cannot stand the speed at which things happen in those games, plus not into 3rd person ‘let’s build a team of people’ much, but that’s a problem for another time. With this all in mind, the game I wish would happen is like gen20 Pokemon, far future sadly, I doubt I’d see it in my lifetime but god I’d be happy if I did!
Ok so take the newest Zelda graphics, the visual treat that was BOTW, open world, puzzles, not JUST combat, you got side missions, hunt the chickens, find missing pets, parcels, items, whatever. Love it! The horse taming?! Amazing you funky little game. Now take the bad guys and beasts from that. And put Pokemon in instead. Give them the diversity, the life and believable natures that BOTW gave the animals, I followed a frog in BOTW for 15 minutes, and it was a great experience, it felt like it was believable. Above world spawning, ACTUAL difficult gameplay, rare spawn rates, make dragons hard to get again, cmon, it’s too easy now, make it so we need a certain set of Pokemon for certain tasks. Water types big enough to carry you will be able to get you to new areas, rock types that can help you climb mountains faster, or break through blocking boulders. Actual towns with more than 4 houses in them, shops, barns, farms, homes. Like little link with the heat, maybe ice types would struggle in volcano areas, or bug Pokemon not be so comfortable in gale force winds. Give the weather more of an effect on your partners. Mounts, don’t even get me started that Pokemon Let’s go had you able to ride any of the larger species, but swsh did not???? Bitch please, give me my rideable Pokemon. The wild area too was far too closed, limited, online was laggy and a mess, camping is limited, let me do more with my team. Pokemon for me is all about the actual creatures, how they live with humans, and the many wonderful things they’re capable of. Yes of course it’s cool they can fight, but like what else you know?
I’d love a game that lets me buy a plot of land, maybe plant things, custom build things. I’m a sucker for the fallout4 settlement builds when they’re modded to hell and back, they’re fun! It can be a really calm and creative process. If I could do that and skip the main campaign and all the battles for a bit? Amazing, it sound perfect for me. I am that distracted hoe collecting flowers while the kingdom burns in the background. Side quests are everything to me. Let me give homeless people enough money to get them in a home? Let me adopt Pokemon that are stray around the town? Plz oh plz bring me a Pokemon game that allows me to work WITH my team to do more than KO other species. I want to save and buy a plow for my buddy gogoat, and grow amazing foods to sell to get currency to spend in decorations, to spoil my team. Give me actual game consequence, if I ignore that sick and injured Pokemon I find in the wild, later maybe it’s family don’t want to help me out with a different problem, too stricken from grief. I am all about the average bits, the old women who need help, the lost pets board in town, the general day to day stuff. Let me get cosmetic items for the Pokemon I keep, cute outfits, special gemstone items, let me actually live with them, or even feel remotely like they’re realistic.
Ok so in game, if it’s looking like BOTW it’s pretty beautiful but also stylised, I’d have it so you can send out a maximum of 3 Pokemon from your 6, using bumpers and such to throw them out. If you hit the trigger you switch from controlling the human trainer, to the Pokemon you’ve targeted with a standard lock on targeting system. You then can be the leader, but be the Pokemon. You could technically defeat the game without a human if you wanted, which incorporates the mystery dungeon games I think, and caters to that crowd. I’d love to see the use of attacks out of battle, things like using water gun to grow plants, using ember to start a campfire faster and stave off the cold. There’s no consequence to Pokemon anymore, and I think that’s where it’s lost me. I have to admit I miss the days of a poisoned pokemon fainting if you don’t heal them soon enough, I miss gym battles that were actually tough, damn, try picking charmander in red and beating brock without grinding in viridian forest first, it’s not easy. And I loved that. Yes it’s a child’s game, it will never be difficult again, but god it’d be nice to have a bit of a challenge, or maybe a difficulty setting, so some could play it with hostility turned off, great for kids, or you can be n adult like I know so many Pokemon fans are, and play it on expert mode and ACTUALLY have to work hard to beat the game. Alternate skill trees anyone? Train gun a fire type to ACUTALLy combat water moves?? Please! Cmon! It frustrated me that every challenger has pretty much a systematic set of moves to use to win. Grass opponent? Fire attack spam until you win. It’s dull, so at least with very difficult tricks to either find or learn in game would make it more achievable if you can send that fire type in and I don’t know, train them so much the heat evaporates the water mid-battle and you suddenly have a shot at winning. Pokemon has taught me that if you work hard enough you can achieve something, but the games just have such strict ways to win. Feels wrong.
In terms of battling, let us BE the Pokemon, let us learn to dodge, train our speed, train our defence, make a team of truly tough Pokemon instead of just, average? Some species have a cap on their skills, a squirtle has lower stat points than a Charizard, but you can’t ever change that? Let me choose the Pokemon I believe in, and let me work with them until they’re just as good, if not better than the game tanks. This would also make online battles more interesting. Everyone picks the top trio. Fairy, dragon, legendaries. And yknow what? It’s boring. That one IRL fight with the monster Pacharisu that won in the world tournament with follow me and the situs Berry? Unbelievable, I love that little rat so much because of this, so let us all have a chance to build a team that’s strategically viable, strong, and potentially a winner formula, even if they aren’t fully evolved, or the biggest Pokemon in the world. Yeah maybe you have to grind way harder with your unevolved Pokemon, but you get to the end game and win, because you put love and time into species that you enjoy, not just good fighters.
Unfortunately I am beholdent to Todd-idiot-Howard, and I love the Eldrescrolls and fallout games (before they got dumb, not that I don’t play the new ones. 76 I’m looking at you, you big asshole game.) honestly I hate online games, so none of that junk, just a good old fashioned open world sandbox game is plenty. Games for me are an escape from others, not an invitation to socialise. To each their own of course, and I do play online games sometimes, just pretty short lived ones, over watch and rdr2 for example. Would they be sometimes better on private servers? Yes of course, fallout76? Want to play with others? No. I do not. Please leave me alone. And if you buy a private server you’re feeding the monster that is Todd Howard, the man the myth the asshole, then we’ll get more bad games like 76. I just so desperately want the Pokemon company to see what a beautiful potential game they’ve got on their hands, that could be suitable for far greater audiences, but instead they’ve focused on the kids. It’s fine, it’s functional, but it’s lost to the fans from day 1, that are all 20+ years old now and want something meatier to play, something far more broad and inclusive. I also hate that there’s no wheelchair option in any Pokemon game. Like cmon, it’s not hard to include that.
In short, BOTW + Pokemon, with a sprinkle of open world sandbox to it, less fighting, more fun. Or, at least both options. Sure, go fight everything, great, but I want to farm carrots over here with 6sunflora, plz let me have some peace.
Edit: I forgot about harvest moon, chuck some of that in there too.
SECOND EDIT: someone in the comments mentioned to put this in Unova? Plz love yourselves, this game would be ALL MAPS. Stuff one singular location, this is the ideal game, put every map in it, join them, put islands in, make them more explorable, more detailed!

Coding in assembly is fantastically efficient but I don't get the "run on most machines" part there. If anything, the reason scripting languages got so popular for gaming was that the abstraction let them run on most machines, at the cost of slowing everything down and making it less stable. There was always a push to upgrade to be able to play the newer games. Mind you, the problem was that the older games became harder to play. Space invaders, for example, relied on the load on the cpu to slow everything down. The enemy got faster as you reduced the numbers of things it had to deal with, not because it was coded to go faster. I bought Age of Mythology, Extended Edition, recently. It was unplayable. Why? Because when they remastered it, they didn't think to throttle it down for modern hardware. The sad thing is I used to use Dosbox a lot to play older games, which emulated the early operating system environment, and it let you throttle the speeds way down. That is good to get new players a feel of the game, but it also benefits older/disabled players, who can have a lot of trouble with the newer titles.
But yes, the ability to play demos of games is amazing and it is sad that now everyone pays in advance, and then you get a torrent of complains on launch. Starfield has had scathing reviews, but the pre-orders were enormous, so it doesn't matter if it is dull. It has already made the money. The worst example was Fallout 76. That sold on the reputation of earlier titles but it was a bloody mess on launch, and there was no real warning from early players. Same happened with another procedurally generated Starfield type game. Endless hours of tedium. I can't even remember its name. Huge hype, gets released, people get to see that the giant golden mountain is just tinfoil covered in a thin coat of paint. But yeah I play fallout 4 a lot, and I keep track of the way it uses system resources. It crashes a lot, but I can see it's not really putting much of a load on the system, except when it suddenly decides to overload the gpu when zoning. The explanation for why it behaved so poorly was that it was made for console, the pc port was an afterthought, and they couldn't be stuffed fixing bugs. Ever. Sims 4 had TWO LAYERS of DRM, to stop you from playing it if they decided you shouldn't because you voted for Trump or was a straight white male or whatever. You had to authenticate through Steam, then their own proprietary software, to play you single player game on your hardware. It would fail at weird moments, or tell you it had deleted your files because you must be pirating stuff or something. I never did, and it never told me what it was deleting. It would also randomly break mods, and it turned out on of the reasons was that it would download the expansions regardless of whether you paid for them, but lock out access. Mods worked by relying on knowing what they were linked to, and for them to stupidly assume every player would buy every expansion was idiotic beyond belief, and it robbed the online library of usefulness, because anything built in the past would be broken automatically. You couldn't simply filter the houses for ones that were compatible. You were supposed to buy every damn thing, and you were supposed to only use every new thing, and I noticed a lot of long running youtubers were looking to jump ship to a competitor the second one became available. People would do play-throughs from the earlier games in the sims series to show just how much better they were AS GAMES, so long as you ignore the dated graphics. But yeah, the recent debacle about Az and Starfield shows why I am incredibly wary of all the new games.

Sorry about the lack of activity around here lately. Tbh I got pretty disenchanted with Fallout last month when the Night of the Moth update in 76 absolutely tanked the game’s performance and (re)introduced a lot of server-side issues and bugs. (I knew it wasn’t my PC because other people were complaining, and games with much higher system requirements ran just fine.) I’ve played since BETA, so performance issues and bugs aren’t novel, but at this stage of the game it’s just… too tiresome to put up with when it interferes with being able to play the game with friends and playing with friends is the draw at this point. I’ll still keep posting Fallout things but it put a bad taste in my mouth, ngl.
Meanwhile, I picked up Deathloop in December. (I hadn’t gotten it earlier because I’d heard there were performance issues on PC, but whatever they were have been totally patched because it’s completely stable and runs like butter for me.) I’ve hit the game credits and am still going through and playing it to pick up things I missed and because honestly it’s a fun game. I love the world Arkane has created and though I have a few quibbles, it’s been a blast. The artistic/creative direction for the game is immaculate. There is a wild cast of characters. If I had to describe the game it’s sort of like… Dishonored meets LOST. With guns. And a fus ro dah/force push ability. (Karnesis slab, my beloved.)
I’m probably gonna post about Deathloop some but avoid posting any spoilers, because I really hope more people will check it out. I know one of the limiting factors on folks playing the game is that it’s a true next gen release with some sorta high system requirements on PC, and the only console it’s on is PS5 which almost nobody has at this point because of cost, shortages and lack of new releases. I hope it’ll hit gamepass when it comes to Xbox this September so even more people get to play it.
Anyway if you’ve played Deathloop and enjoyed it please interact. I am exercising so much self-restraint by not screaming about this game non-stop, and if DLC gets announced I will literally foam at the mouth, you do not understand how much I want more content for this game.
#deathloop#fallout#blacklist the next tag if you don’t want to see Deathloop content from me#Falling down the ‘Loop-hole#please play Deathloop#it’s a real gem imo#I think the year-long PS5 exclusivity really shot the game in the foot

So is Fallout 76 actually fun?
To clarify, I can't maintain a schedule for MMORPGs. So if I were to occasionally pop on as this person wandering the wastelands, could I get anything from it or should I just load up new vegas and call it an evening?
I find it really fun, I was playing it this evening in fact and I'm probably gonna play it again tonight. It definitely deserved the hate it got at launch but it's come a long way since then! If you like the core gameplay loop and the base building in Fallout 4, you'll enjoy it here. The world's really fun to enjoy, there's so much to see and find and the world is constantly changing. I'll spend hours checking out everyone's creative Camp builds, decorating my own, and just vibing in the wasteland.
It still has a lot of the usual Bethesda problems and the monetization is kinda gross but I've enjoyed it in spite of it's flaws and spent about 500 hours on it. I definitely reccomend it for PC if possible, there are several mods that really enhance the experience. But ultimately it's an online Fallout game and that's something I've wanted for a long time.
If you like the shooting and looting from Fallout 4 and spent hours building up Sanctuary like me you'll enjoy the moment to moment gameplay. You can take your time doing a little at a time each day, knocking out daily challenges, farming and exploring etc. Playing it sort of casually is great because there'll always be more to do when you log in and there's not a lot of difficult endgame content in the way of raids or world bosses currently.
Some days I'll just play a couple hours, check out Camps close to me on my server and run an event or daily op with some other people. It helps that the community is really cool, I've had nothing but good experiences with people in this game.
I can't recommend it over New Vegas, that's really the best game in the series for me and my personal favorite game ever. It's a really deep story-based game and if you want to be immersed and listen to dialogue for hours on end then FNV is better for that.
But if you're looking for a more action-driven experience, give F76 a try. There's a lot of content, a lot to see and do, and I still haven't seen most of the game after so many hours playing it over the course of several months. It has some more "classic" elements compared to F4, your character build matters more, they've added Special checks and branching story paths, and the writing in Wastelanders and Steel Dawn have been pretty good from what I've played of it.
Some days I play more casually, it's fun to see what other people have come up with and just listen to the radio while I team up to kill monsters and stuff. It still plays like F4 so it depends on how much you like that game's feel and how much tolerance you have for the looter shooter genre in general. If that kind of game sounds fun to you and you have the patience for some of it's bugs and rough edges, you'll find a lot to enjoy especially if you're a fan of other Fallout games.

13: DIY Mothman costume, seen at the Mothman Festival in Point Pleasant
If you wanna see some amazing Mothman costumes, do yourself a favor and look up this festival. I am not gonna be able to say I can die happy until I come to this festival, see this Mothman with his tiny eyes and sensible footwear and shake his hand. 10/10
14: Mothman Baby figure
Not sure where I stand on this one, a lot of the features are borrowed from some of the ickier interpretations I've seen, but I would also commit war crimes for him. If he's an ugly baby that I'm seeing through the eyes of a loving mother, then so be it. 8/10
15: Squishmallow Mothman, a Hot Topic exclusive
What do you MEAN his name is PERKIN?! I adore him with all my heart, he checks all the boxes for me: friendly, simple design, huggable and fuzzy features, and just look at that award winning smile! Top marks all around! A Million/10
17: Fallout 76 official Mothman plushie
Usually I count on Bethesda to make things actively worse these days, but by some miracle, they managed to improve on every single aspect of their already fantastic Mothman design by putting the poor, wet beast through a tumble dryer--just look at all that fluff! The stumpy little bug legs are an inspired touch. If a nuclear apocalypse is what we need to make this guy a reality, I'll do 2 Chernobyls. Demon Core/10
18: Stringdoll Gang Mothman
Oh my lord I remember these! I had a little horse one and he was cute, but I'd definitely give him a little friend with this perfect specimen. A nice detail is that the stitching makes it look like he's got a little dress on, I love that for him. Slay/10
Rating Popular Depictions of Mothman I found on Google Images
1: Original Mothman/Found footage Mothman
The blueprint, of course. There isn't much to work with, but the spindly legs and lack of arms will be a pattern in most of my favorites. 8/10
2. Point Pleasant Mothman Sculpture
A classic to be sure, but not even his fat ass can make up for how unreasonably buff he is, and that FACE! How am I supposed to nuzzle a beaky schnozz like that? 4/10
3: Fuzzy Mothman, found in a lot of TV documentaries
Fuzzy boy, very huggable with elegant wings and kind, curious eyes. But I can't get past those gorilla arms, very threatening. 7/10
4: Mothman mascot costume, from Point Pleasant's Mothman Museum
Ew. Ew ew ew ew. Xenomorph looking ass, has straight up bat wings, and his head looks like Destroy All Humans concept art, please get him away from me. 0/10
5: Mothman display, also from Point Pleasant
Why is he skeleton. Who authorized this? He looks less mean than the costume tho, more like a stupid, endearing little ghoul that trips over a lot, but not Mothman at all. 1/10
6: Owl/Mothman by JoshuaDunlop on Deviantart
Owlman truthers can suck a whole fart, this thing is the stuff off nightmares, not cuddly or friendly at all! Kill It/10
7: Safari collectible Mothman figure
WHY DO YOU MAKE HIM LOOK SO MEAN?? These are the kind of arms I can get behind for Mothman, if it weren't for his face looking like a overcooked Yorkshire Terrier. I'd still trust him to hold my drink while I go to the bathroom tho, 3/10
8: Persona/SMT Mothman
A darling. No thought behind those eyes. I would claim him as my Not!Stand any day, and feed him lots of muffins and other baked goods. 345/10
9: Fallout Mothman
Irradiated Mothman my beloved. Look at how shy he is, how demure. He is a friendly and benevolent force and will not fight you even if you shoot at him like the heartless monster you are. I wish he weren't so wet, but I can't be arsed to care amidst all these photo mode selfies with him. 76/10
10: Cryptkins Mothman
Mothman is not a bird, fuck off; HOWEVER, this boy is very soft and jovial, and I would love to keep him in a spacious and cozy cage and sing to him like a Disney Princess. Flicky/10

Wasteland Remastered (PC)
Developed/Published by: inXile Entertainment Released: 25/02/2020 Completed: 09/05/2021 Completion: Finished it! Trophies / Achievements: n/a
So many weeks ago I saw this meme and I thought “oh, that’s good, that is” and I got a big hunger to play me some Fallout: New Vegas, even though I played it till I was sick to death of it in 2017. I guess it’s been a few years. Instead of doing that, I did the sensible thing and played through Wasteland Remastered, because why not finally try out the daddy of them all as the alternative would be playing Fallout 4, or Fallout 76, and I’ve heard they’re shite.
Wasteland Remastered is pretty interesting, because it’s my first time really engaging with the recent trend of remastering things but really not doing that much to them at all, which is more popular in the old RPG space with the likes of your Baldur’s Gates and that (I’d already played through Planescape Torment, so I didn’t need to revisit the enhanced edition, for example.) And when it comes to Wasteland, you’re playing something that is pretty insanely old and crusty. Ultima IV crusty.
All they’ve done here is basically throw up a sort of vaguely “board game” inspired 3D map and feed the interface through that--I’m 100% sure that the original game is just running in the background (it’s a shame you can’t flick between graphical styles like with R-Type Dimensions, or something). It doesn’t totally work, but the original game looked like shit (completely un-evocative of its setting) so it’s a big improvement.
The issue is that the game itself is, as I said, Ultima IV crusty, so it’s extremely obscure, full of weird issues, unwinnable situations and half-designed concepts that were clearly never playtested by anyone. But, much like Ultima IV, it’s interesting, it gets your imagination going to fill in the blanks, and if you are willing to cross reference a few walkthroughs… it’s actually fun? And unlike the Ultima series, which suffers the critique “sure these games were fun at the time, but they haven’t influenced much” you can see the influence of Wasteland’s open-ended design all over the shop even if you don’t count Wasteland 2 and 3.
I didn’t even mind the crusty battle system because the battles were over so quickly. The main issue, of course, other than the crust, is that like a lot of these games the ending is sort of underwhelming. It doesn’t really build to anything and the final dungeon is using some keys. There’s no exciting confrontation… But in the remaster they do a Fallout-style “here’s the effect you had on the wasteland” thing that cheered me up, so it has that.
Will I ever play it again? I won’t, but I’m almost convinced to start playing Wasteland 2 already, which is something.
Final Thought: I liked this, and I think that online walkthroughs are a bit limiting in how they tell you how to play this, so I thought I’d give you some sweet alternative tips if you’re ever going to play this:
Don’t worry about all the weird skills. You can always pick up an NPC that has the required skill if required. But do get brawling, assault rifles, perception, swim/climb etc. Though skip the other weapon abilities.
The reason to do this is because you want to try and put more points into skills like picklock, because using skills is an almighty ballache even though they eventually work. You’re not a wean anymore, and sitting pushing the macro button until you eventually unlock a door is a huge pain, so even a tiny edge can help.
But yeah, learn how to use macros. You’ll be using them unless you plan on typing things like U-1-1-7 a LOT.
And do re-roll to get 17-18 intelligence (and keep rolling till all others are above 10, honestly) because you want energy weapons for everyone at 23 so you’re stuck pushing 3 levels of upgrades into intelligence at least, never mind if you want to unlock doctor (you do.)
Don’t fill your party to 7, because you can’t disband an NPC and pick another one without losing one forever. This will be annoying if you’ve got a full party when you get to PLACE and you want to rescue CHARACTER. Plus you obviously want to get AWESOME CHARACTER at the end because he’s wearing cool sunglasses!
Also in spoiler territory, the hidden safe in the hideout is bugged so you actually will have to camp next to it till you see it (have an NPC with clip pistol ability in your party.) It’s maybe not worth it.
Grenades are fine early game but just sell/ignore AT weapons unless you’re going to use them to blow up doors, because the reloading factor is crap compared to burning clips (because they only ever hit one enemy. Unless you want to try and kill the scorpiontron in Las Vegas, which you 100% don’t have to bother with.)
While you can easily get yourself into an unwinnable position by, like, discarding a key or something, it’s really hard to completely fuck up in a battle as the baddies are sporting and step back if you’re all knocked out, so feel free to try and tank occasionally. Just be aware there’s no healing, only camping, so be prepared to do a lot of waiting in difficult dungeons.
Support Every Game I’ve Finished on ko-fi.
