santa baby * ls2
it's never fun feeling like an outsider, so you'd sworn that nobody would ever feel the way you did all those years ago
pairings: logan sargeant x platonic!femdriver
notes: hi i know i took forever to write this but uh what r u gonna do? ik u love me B)
| "wanna hang out?" | driver's parade | american burgers | american football | the thanksgiving incident | another williams adoptee | beating the heat | you’re embarrassing me | santa baby | the favourite driver | the situationship | it's nice to have a friend |
you hum, whirling around at the camera crew settling right by the front of the mercedes racing home. “ah, it’s that time of years again, isn’t it?”
“yes! are you excited?”
you nod with a smile as you see a box being pulled out of the cart they’ve been lugging around in the paddocks for the video. “have you seen the present? got any hints for me?”
“aw, we can’t do that,” she giggles. “where’s the fun in that?”
secret santa is the yearly affair that you find yourself looking forward to as the year progresses. it’s always the santa hat and the fun of guessing who’s gotten you what this year. what used to be a silly game of gag gifts when you first started out, is now an endearing event filled with thoughtful gifts that you keep on your shelf for years to come.
last year, max had gotten your name. he is very thoughtful with his presents. his present sits at the top of your shelf: a paper mache trophy he admitted that he made with penelope (you’ve met her and she loves you) deeming you his toughest competitor in 2022.
you’re curious to see who drew your name this year.
“oh! do i get to keep this one?” you giggle as she hands you a santa hat. you pull it over your head snuggly and clap your hands. “where is it?”
“here.”
a box is handed to you, wrapped neatly in a mercedes green paper. you squeal as you take it into your hands and carefully unwrap it. there is something about wrapping paper that is so incredibly delicate and worth keeping.
you carefully tear at the tape holding the seams and edges of the box.
“any guesses who it could be right off the bat?”
“it could be anyone at this point,” you sigh, shaking your head. “could it be max again? hopefully it’s not charles — who knows what he will give me.” you look up to the camera. “in secret santa terms, of course. he is actually a good gift giver.”
you tear off the wrapping paper, folding it up neatly before pinning it between your body and elbow. “okay. truth time.”
you pull the cover off the box and tilt your head at the array of presents sitting comfortably in mercedes’ coloured confetti.
“what did you get?”
“a ‘best mum’ mug?” you say, coming out in a slight question as you lift up the pastel green mug to the camera. “am i pregnant and somehow it’s passed me?”
you hear a chorus of laughter as you venture further, each of the presents somehow getting weirder by the second. “and a christmas card? seriously?”
you graze your fingers over the 3d design on the card with a small smile, reading ‘merry christmas!’ with a cute doodle of a christmas tree in the centre. “we’ve been instructed to tell you to read that after you get all the presents and guess him correctly.”
your eyes trail to the gold plate in the shape of a star.
“another trophy!” you shriek. you squint your eyes to read the inscription on the plate. you sigh and press your lips together into a thin line. you hold it up. “best grid mum. the spelling alone gives it away!”
you step forward and let the camera zoom into it, the inscription reading “best grid mom”. “logan’s my secret santa?”
“ah, rookie mistake with the spelling there, wasn’t it?” she laughs. “there’s one more gift. he told us to give it to you when you figure it out.”
somebody else reaches out with a frame in their hands. you take it into your hands and smile, a picture of you and logan sitting right outside the mercedes home together for lunch sits tightly behind the glass.
“this is so sweet!” you coo, one hand covering your red cheeks. “do you want me to read the card?” she nods. you open the folded card and read as you speak. “thanks for welcoming me this year to the grid. you’re the best ever. hope i get to race with you longer than just this season. love, your secret santa.”
you look up as tears well in your eyes, looking into the camera. “aw, you’re the sweetest, logan. don’t worry, i’ve already got a present for him this christmas.”
you point to the lens of the camera. “can i grab this thing real quick for dramatic effect?” he nods. you grab the frame of the lens and take a step forward. “james vowles, if you do not re-sign logan hunter sargeant, i know where to find you.”

RECIPROCITY TIMELINE OF EVENTS
I started the story of Reciprocity in the middle of things, so readers are slowly learning what happened that led up to the current events of the story through references and the occasional flashback. We still have a couple major flashbacks to cover before readers are completely up to speed with what has happened before we jumped in.
But I went ahead and wrote up this little timeline for anyone who might be confused. I made a couple mistakes myself while writing, and had to fix a couple things after the fact 😅
Timeline is under the cut! SPOILERS if you haven't read up to Chapter 14 yet!
SPRING 2023
Mutant Mayhem: Events of the movie take place. I believe the movie takes place in spring because in the US, prom season is at the end of the school year. Characters in the movie are also wearing light jackets or just hoodies.
Turtles Enroll in Eastman: The turtles would have begun their Freshman (first) year of high school late in the second half of the 2022/2023 school year and attend Prom
SUMMER 2023
“Fanfare” : (We have not had a flashback yet) The turtles spend the summer enjoying the “overall fanfare” Donnie mentions in his plan to stop Superfly and win over the humans.
FALL 2023
School Year Begins: The turtles begin their Sophomore (second) year of high school
Thanksgiving 2023 – Leo is taken: We have not had a flashback yet, all we know so far is from passing comments/references. What we do know is that the turtles are in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This is where Leo is kidnapped and disappears. Raph is injured during the kidnapping.
Therapy: Raph begins mandated therapy sessions
WINTER 2023
Christmas 2023: First Christmas without Leo
SPRING 2024
No major events hinted at so far. Raph and his brothers begin drifting apart.
FALL 2024
School Year Begins: The turtles begin their Junior (third) year of high school.
Thanksgiving 2024 – 1st Anniversary of Leo’s disappearance: We have not had a flashback yet, all we know so far is from passing comments/references. What we know is that a remembrance service is held for Leo. Raph snaps and gets into a screaming match with Splinter over Leo. Raph believes Leo is alive but cannot convince anyone. Splinter tells Raph to stay home. Raph has a breakdown in Leo’s room, angry and frustrated that nobody believes him. Splinter finds him there, and yells at Raph to stay out of Leo’s room. Splinter and Raph’s already strained relationship falls apart, and they begin avoiding each other and hardly speaking to one another.
WINTER 2024
Christmas 2024: Second Christmas without Leo
SPRING 2025
No major events hinted at so far
SUMMER 2025
No major events hinted at so far
FALL 2025 – This is where the reader begins the story
School year has already begun: The turtles are in their Senior (fourth and final) year of high school.
Thanksgiving 2025 – 2nd Anniversary of Leo’s disappearance: Raph attends the remembrance ceremony for the first time with his family at Mikey’s request.
Raph, Mikey and Donnie begin hanging out again
Casey Jones transfers to Eastman High
WINTER 2025
Christmas 2025 – 3rd Christmas without Leo: The family finally celebrates the holiday normally again. Splinter gives Raph a gift of something that had once belonged to Leo.
And that’s it, we’re up to date!

What is being ignored by the mainstream media are the dangers facing the global economy
Dec 03, 2024
On the economic front, it is more of the same, but just a different day.
The U.S. equities keep riding high following the re-election of Donald Trump.
While there are fears that his tariff policies will have negative effects on the economy, at this point, it is a guessing game.
The same with his plans to cut taxes. Will the richest Americans reap the biggest rewards like his last cuts in 2017, or will We the People of Slavelandia get a cut?
What is being ignored by the mainstream media are the dangers facing the global economy.
Economies were artificially propped up with trillions of dollars in fake money backed by nothing and printed on nothing, plus negative and zero interest rate policies, are now suffering from the draconian COVID lockdown policies imposed by politicians that destroyed the lives and livelihoods of billions of people across the planet.
We continue to report on the looming Office Building Bust that will cause Banks to Go Bust.
Need more proof?
The recent four-week office occupancy rate of the largest 10 cities in the U.S. was, according to Kastle Systems, down to 40.6 percent. Much of the decline was a result of the Thanksgiving holiday, but overall, for the year, the average is around 50 percent, while the vacancy rate, meaning empty office buildings, is at around 20 percent.
As of last week, the delinquency rates on commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) was at 10.4 percent, up one percent in November, hitting its fastest spike in two years... the depth of the COVID War lockdowns.
According to Trepp data, the current CMBS delinquency rate is just .3 percent below the 10.7 percent spike during the Panic of ’08 Great Recession.
Illustrating the danger ahead, but again banned by the mainstream media, was the 31 October 2024 article in Wall Street on Parade, New York Fed Report: 27 Percent of Bank Capital Is “Extend and Pretend” Commercial Real Estate Loans... which in part states the dire office building crisis as a result of the vacancy rates and how it is being covered up.
They quote a paper written by Matteo Crosignani, financial research advisor at the New York Fed, and Saketh Prazad, a former research analyst at the New York Fed who is now a doctoral student in the Business Economics program at the Harvard Business School who wrote:
“In this paper, using detailed supervisory data, we document that banks have ‘extended-and-pretended’ their distressed CRE mortgages in the post-pandemic period to delay the recognition of losses. Banks with weaker marked-to-market capital—largely due to losses in their securities portfolio since 2022:Q1—have extended the maturity of their impaired CRE mortgages coming due and pretended that such credit provision was not as distressed to avoid further depleting their capital. The resulting limited number of loan defaults hindered the reallocation of capital, crowding out the origination of both CRE mortgages and loans to firms. The maturity extensions granted by banks also fueled the volume of CRE mortgages set to mature in the near term—a ‘maturity wall’ with the associated risk of large losses materializing in a short period of time.”
One of the scariest potential outcomes referenced by the authors is their so-called “maturity wall” when the debt bombs come due and losses pile up suddenly. The authors write this:
“…we document that banks’ extend-and-pretend has led to an ever-expanding ‘maturity wall’, namely a rapidly increasing volume of CRE loans set to mature in the near term. As of 2023:Q4, CRE mortgages coming due within three years represent 27% of bank marked-to-market capital, up 11 percentage points from 2020:Q4—and CRE mortgages coming due within five years represent 40% of bank marked-to-market capital. We show (i) that weakly capitalized banks drive this expansion, consistent with their extend-and-pretend behavior, and (ii) that the maturity wall represents a sizable 16% of the aggregate CRE debt held by the banking sector as of 2023:Q4.
“Taken together, our results highlight the costs of banks’ extend-and-pretend behavior. In the short term, the resulting credit misallocation might slow down the capital reallocation needed to sustain the transition of real estate markets to the post-pandemic equilibrium—for example supporting the conversion of office space into residential units and recreational spaces in large urban areas. In the medium term, the delayed recognition of losses exposes banks (and all other holders of CRE debt) to sudden large losses which can be exacerbated by fire sales dynamics and bankruptcy courts congestion.”
Further illustrating the reality of the looming CMBS debt bomb, today Wall Street on Parade noted that:
“Life insurers continued to allocate a substantial percentage of assets to risky and less liquid instruments, such as leveraged loans, collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), high-yield corporate bonds, privately placed corporate bonds, and alternative investments. Moreover, life insurance companies have material direct exposures to commercial mortgages and are large holders of commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS). This exposure to illiquid and risky assets makes life insurers vulnerable to an array of adverse shocks, including that of an economic downturn or of a significant further deterioration of the CRE [commercial real estate] market.”
TREND FORECAST: Yes, the significant further deterioration of the CRE [commercial real estate] market,” that so few are talking about... a mega trend we warned about when we had forecast the Office Building Bust and its socioeconomic implications.

I went through Darren’s IG and the last time he made a personal post for Christmas Day was in 2020. He posted in 2021 as well but that was promo for his album. Nothing in 2022 or 2023. He also hasn’t posted for Thanksgiving in years, besides the parade post in 2019. The only personal Thanksgiving one I could find was back in 2015.
That’s not to say we won’t get pictures on another day, like those family Disney pics from last year, but I fear the odds are stacked against us this holiday season with him working.
This time of year is probably difficult for the whole family + they have kids so I’m sure he wants to soak up the time with them. He has no obligation to share anything with us, but it’s also a nice surprise when he does.
I think we can count on him posting for milestone anniversaries & birthdays but other than that it’s a toss up.
Most people I follow on instagram make post for the major holidays - at least in their stories. Darren is the exception.
Darren said in the video for godlovesnyc that he is grateful for the two women in his life, his mother and his wife. It would be the perfect opportunity to make a Thanksgiving post with Mia, Cerina and the kids. The chance that it will happen is by 1 % or less.
I'm really hoping Darren will make a family post some time this year. It wasn't that bad with baby Bluesy. We got posts from friends and family, but we don't get anything with baby Brother. I don't think it will happen though. I could make good money betting against it.

I'm Happy for One Piece Fans
It's an understatement to say that this is a great time to be a One Piece fan in the West.
From One Piece Film Red ads taking over Times Square in 2022 to Monkey D. Luffy getting his own balloon for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City to the National Football League even doing a collaboration with the franchise for one of their games, this has been an incredible journey for a series that struggled to break through in my part of the world for a long time.
And let's not forget about the live-action Netflix adaptation which doesn't suck!
I think back to when I started this blog back in 2010, Naruto and BLEACH got most fans' attention compared to One Piece. I never really gave One Piece a chance because everyone around me was either a Naruto or BLEACH fan. Plus there were other series like Death Note that took center stage.
I mostly wrote about Naruto and BLEACH characters. However, I did write this post in 2011 about One Piece's popularity among adults in Japan. It's one of my most-read posts to this day.
While I wrote in the post that I started after a big time-skip, I gave up afterwards after several chapters. The series didn't stick with me.
I wonder what happened in the last 3-4 years that made One Piece finally blow up in America. 10 years ago, One Piece probably sold alright here, but nothing compared to the other mainstream shonen titles. Over the past 2-3 years and despite being now over 100 volumes, One Piece is now placing in top 20 manga charts in sales consistently.
And then I read about the Wano Country arc. It also helped that the Viz Shonen Jump app was starting to slowly take off around 2019 when they decided to have chapters released the same day as Japan. So now, everyone can get in on the fun. Fans got the see the events of Wano play out over time. Of course, the COVID-19 pandemic helped as everyone bought manga and watched anime to kill time.
But I still feel it mostly has to do with what went happened in Wano. I decided to research the arc and I was left with this.
1.) The longest arc ever in the series.
2.) A lot of significant stuff happened.
3.) Gear 5. 'Nuff said.
4.) Luffy is literally one step away from becoming the King of the Pirates.
I did hear that Wano was probably a homage to Japan, so adding a sense of Eastern flair to a mostly Western theme (pirates) helps.
I give props to the fans who stuck with the series and have felt ignored until these past few years. They did their best to promote One Piece even if it fell on a bunch of deaf ears at times. I personally know people who swore by One Piece since the start. To see it now as big as Dragon Ball Z in America in 2023 is incredible.
The One Piece community deserves this. Patience truly is a virtue here and it was rewarded. I can't wait to see what Eiichiro Oda, Toei Animation and Bandai will do next for you guys for the potential endgame.

BREAKING NEWS: The NYPD has just now made it public that the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade turkey balloon went mysteriously missing on November 28 of 2022. The police say they never reported the missing balloon at that time because they feared public recrimination. It was last spotted during the parade and went missing shortly thereafter. Sources say they fear it was accidentally shot down at the behest of the Biden administration.

Ominous Signs for Democrats in New York
There's a seismic shift in New York politics. It may be because of the Democratic Party's continual dragging of their Overton Window to the left of Fidel Castro. It may be because of the anointment of Kamala Harris as the Democrat's catastrophic 2024 presidential candidate. It may be due to any number of things, but the fact is this: Democrat voter registration in the Empire State is dropping, and that doesn't bode well for Democrats there or nationwide.
There are cracks in the blue wall. Democratic registration dropped 7% in New York City and 4% across the Empire State between 2020 and 2024 — the latest sign of disaffection with liberal policies that some pundits is fueling a national push to the right. Democrats saw registration plummet 258,612 in the city from November 2020 to November 2024, when there were 3.4 million voters registered to the Democratic Party, according to Board of Election data. That accounted for much of the 271,322 statewide decline in party enrollment as the GOP saw a modest gain of 2%, or 67,483 voters, enrolled statewide — bringing Republican Party totals to slightly more than 3 million, according to the numbers. There were 4,912 more enrolled Republicans in the city, to 573,644 total, the data show.
The recent election saw shifts all over the country. Donald Trump blasted through the Rust Belt states and shattered the Democrats' Blue Wall like the Kool-Aid Man. Several key demographics are trending more and more Republican — and plenty of members of those demographics live in New York.

New York went handily for Kamala Harris in the presidential election, but the decline in registration, while still leaving the Democrats with a lead over Republicans, is starting to have an effect. The decline is starting to narrow elections.
President-elect Donald Trump drew 44% of the vote in blue New York to 56% for Vice President Kamala Harris, the highest vote for a Republican candidate in 36 years. Democrats nationwide are sifting through the carnage of losing the White House and both the House and Senate to the GOP. In 2022, Democrat Kathy Hochul won the race for governor by just 6-percentage points — 53%-47% over Republican Lee Zeldin. Zeldin, a former House member, is now Trump’s nominee for Environmental Protection Agency secretary.
In the 2024 presidential election, in neighboring New Jersey, Donald Trump came within five points of Kamala Harris. That's remarkable; in 2024, whether it be due to Donald Trump's populist appeal or the leftward drift of the Democratic Party, New Jersey came close to becoming a swing state.
New Jersey.
New York will remain a blue state, of course, unless things shift a lot more than anyone could imagine. But remember this: As recently as 1984, New York went for a Republican in Ronald Reagan's 49-state landslide. But the shift in New York should still be making Democrats nervous. A small shift could tip the balance of the state legislature, and may even tip the next gubernatorial election if the GOP picks the right candidate.
This Thanksgiving weekend has been cold, with a weather system dropping snow and ice over much of the northeastern United States, but that's not what is sending chills down the spines of Empire State Democrats today.
