I give you full permission, nay, I BEG you to share why you ship Zaid x Leia with us! I'm so curious, I could read a whole essay!

so the time has finally come for me to explain my crimes rarepair......

short answer: dwarf whose entire clan was murdered + mermaid that's washed up away from everything she's ever known = delicious found family romance

LONG answer: under the cut!

Long story short, I play Leia in a Harvest Moon/Rune Factory/misc. farming sims roleplay server! I was still relatively new to fandom RP when I joined the community, and picked up Leia one day since she was a longtime favorite character of mine.

I knew I wanted Leia to wash up on the beach and end up in someone's bathtub, and someone else in the server (whose writing I already very much enjoyed, ily @jugoanne) happened to be writing Zaid. I thought the dynamic could be interesting, so I jumped into her DMs! Ju was immediately onboard, we did some plotting and then jumped into writing.

Much like Leia & Daryl's canon relationship, Zaid found Leia washed up on the beach and injured, and took her back to his home to treat her wounds and let her crash in his bathtub... and from there it was history.

The chemistry was INSTANT, and we went absolutely wild on writing the ship. We've been writing them for almost a full year now, and have even gotten these two married in the server! As proof of how deep our brainrot runs, this is a screenshot of our word count from March to September 2024.

This isn't even everything. I had to make a second google doc for September - present day, because the original kept crashing on mobile with how huge it was.

I've found that fandom roleplay is incredible in how it can make you completely obsessed with shipping two characters that aren't even from the same franchise. Even more than that, you can forge the strongest of friendships simply from brainrotting over a rarepair you've forged together. Ju has become an extremely dear friend, to the point where she literally attended my actual wedding last year!!

It's a bit hard to explain 'why' I ship Zaid/Leia, because so much of it is based off this intricate storyline that we've written for them, with a bunch of added backstory, original scenes, and inside jokes-- but I hope I've managed to convey my feelings about it! This ship is incredibly dear to me; I've been writing it for a long time, and I hope to write and draw for a long while yet.

Smut!! I've developed my smut writing a lot. Kinktober really opened my eyes to a lot of kinks as well 👀

Tone: I think I'm getting a lot better at matching tone in my writing for consistent characterizations and building atmosphere

Estimating word count: I've gotten so much better at looking at an idea and predicting how long the final story is going to be.

Spommy week 2024 - prompt “Florida”

Enjoy the drabble i made for the prompt a few week ago when I first heard of spommy week and got inspired by the prompt for the second day - Florida! Hope this gets me out of my writing posting hiatus to post something silly - maybe this could become something more one day!

I was inspired by @funeralroast to post this! And thank you to the creators of this and the rarepair smosh server for everything and for inspiring me everyday <33

“What are you doing here?” Spencer gasps as the hot chocolate cup that was warming up his hands in the hot weather flips back all over him.

Tommy gasps. “Oh shit! Im so sorry! mean… wait what are you doing here?” He recognizes those eyes anywhere.

They were both visiting their small town that they grew up in for the annual Christmas in summer jingle jangle stockings and crazy fun times fairytale lighting nighttime Christmas tree hanging stockings and hanging wreaths ball Christmastime but not actually Christmas because its summer jingle ball jangle ball Christmas bulb bash thats actually not during the winter because its more fun to have Christmas in the summer as well, but we also have Christmas during the usual time in the winter, so its more fun that way and we get more of the Christmas spirit all year round.. festival ball bash and they would never miss it.

Until both Tommy and Spencer decided to move out to the big city of LA and New York, both big seperate worlds that decided that they could work there instead of help out at their family farms against their seperate parents better interest.

The apple sauce farm and the chicken coop farm, the first owned by the Bowe family and the second by the Agnew family.

They didn’t really know why they separately decided to get on a plane and make their way all the way back to their family home, but they did.

Maybe it was the way Tommy’s mother’s voice sounded different. Older. Sadder than last year when he couldn’t make it. She wasn't trying to hide her disappointment this time.

It was the same for Spencer. His father had called him with a gruff voice, begging him to come back in his own cold way.

“We miss you son. The chickens miss you.” Which was weird for an Agnew, so he was on the next plane over.

His father had cancer, and didnt know how to tell him. So he didnt. His mother had to tell him. Over a zoom call. How sterile.

“Oh so youre here for the…” they both repeat the dumb long ass title in synch for the event that they were pulled back into celebrating because it was a bad omen to not say it every time you mention it or else a bad Christmas. Or something. So they would always say the entire thing, no matter how much time they had to wait, or if they were ever running late somewhere. Like all of those dumb Hallmark movie titles.

Oh wow, been a long while eh? Almost four years! I'm honestly surprised my obsession with the man lasted this long lmao, also surprised anyone still remembers storage wars which got us into this whole mess in the first place >.<

Thank you for indulging me in my Mumbo-centric ways, i swear that man deserves more but as far as I've seen he's always just relegated to a love interest or a side character 😔. Been trying to remedy that but I'm also the slowest writer to ever grace this earth so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.

Grumbo will always be number 1 in my heart, which might surprise some people lmao but ships like ZIMT and the rarepair ones are so fun to think about.

Oh answering the ZIMT prompt under the cut because it got pretty long

Now, regarding the ZIT crew they definitely fell at different times and at different speeds. We're going by the time each of them joined and we all know that Mumbo has had a hand in summoning both Tango and Impulse to the server which got Zed into it in the end.

Tango's summoning was a bit like summoning tech support. Quick and business-like, a little bit impersonal but hey, you don't really get a chance to build rapport with every technician you meet. But then Tango was invited back and it helps that they were already on the right foot.

Tango only started to fall around the civil war. They've been chatting and meeting every now and then, usually about the newest iron farm designs but they really got to talking when Mumbo came back from his short stint as a mole.

Impulse's summoning, however, was a lot more personal, and some would say that it all started since then. Freshly summoned but his eyes were already glued to that quiet, suit wearing redstoner whose name he didn't know despite having a tiny piece of the man's soul resting comfortably with his (and vice versa but that's the perils of the type of summoning they did, Tango and Xisuma's been affected as well)

He was pretty unperturbed about the whole thing though, because he's Impulse, the kind of guy with the patience to rebuild his whole base a block higher just because he didn't like the look of it. (Just... no sudden movements following grand discoveries though, that's enough to destabilize Impulse's finely crafted nonchalance)

And funnily enough, I've written the exact moment Mumbo caught Zedaph's eye. Four years ago as well ^^

Third Most Bookmarks: Again, riding on the power of Snirius sub-fandom: Letters to No One (the last hand on my clock) - a series of letters exchanged between Sirius and Severus.

Fourth Most Comments: Interlude(s) - series of canon compliant drabbles written for the TTB discord server's Let's Do Shots series. This was a celebration of 100 members, and written for specific prompts.

Fifth Most Words: Also Letters to No One at 4,480 words. The highest word count is for Beyond the Veil, which crosses 97k.

I saw it on the (handwavy gesture) timeline thanks to @saltysatellite804 so I'm gonna do it with my usual lack of brevity :)

1) three ships:

1. I also have many a ship so I'll go with the one I brainrotted really hard for over the last few years, yalex (yassen gregorovich/alex rider) my beloved from the series alex rider! [assassin with a soft spot/extremely reluctant teen spy] dynamic, there's a shit ton of parallels between them, the metaphorical ghost that is alex's dad haunting the both of them, lots of angst-hurt/comfort potential, some infamous lines from the book that is nothing short of describing yassen in unneccesary detail or a literal love confession, I don't take concrit, thank you! thanks to the tv series there's been more fics but I would definitely still categorize it as a rarepair. somehow there still feels like there's such a wealth of excellent writing though!

2. next is adayu (adachi tohru/narukami yu) from the hit game persona 4 or persona 4 golden. [super nuanced jaded cop that goes too far/new in town protag who gains friends as a bit of a butterfly effect from said antag's actions] dynamic, yin-yang opposite sides of the same coin or two roads diverged mirrored equals, and definitely the darker accomplice!yu ending which leads to a lot of creative headcanons and whatnot. also a rarepair that within the last 3 years got a couple of excellent new longfics thanks to the various ports! I have an active discord server for the pairing with about 60-ish people total so we're going strong >:3c

3. finally I'll go with the ship that was the first "fandom" environment I participated in, eobarry (eobard thawne/barry allen) in all media forms, honestly. ngl I was kind of... young then cough so I tried not to be perceived as much as possible... I respect past!fel's enthusiasm but that's about it LOL. simple yet delicious [obsessed antag who is ready to ruin protag's life at a moment's notice/heart of gold protag who messes up... sometimes] dynamic that I need to get back into in order to describe it further. as you can tell, I'm all about the "but they're just opposite sides of the same coin" trope because this one's literally the flash and the reverse flash. from what I remember, I adored eowells but was always craving for more OG thawne in the tv series. in fact, I scoured through the recent flash movie trailer like a goddamn madman in hopes of catching a glimpse of the reverse flash, but no dice. did a little bit of ranting about it here and there on various platforms but since there's visible elements of change in the trailer such as kara instead of kal-el or how barry actually talks to his alt!self and doesn't knock him the fuck out or phase him out of existence, there's a chance they're gonna pull the whole barry vs evil!barry shtick again and I'm going to have to have to write self-cest. also again. rooting for suprise thawne in the theater when I go and watch it to reignite this possible flame, yeah?

2) first ever ship - it's not something I actually remember because it was that long ago. I can, however, tell you that the first three ship fic I wrote were hetalia character/reader-insert fics over on ff dot net about eight years ago. they didn't even last half a year before I wiped them from existence LOL but I've not deleted anything after that ‘cause I not longer care to

3) last song - it's still pulled up right now on my device, heh. it's shadow from the album "face the sun" by the kpop group seventeen. it's a gorgeous song, and if you look up the lyrics, they definitely hit too. about accepting the flaws in yourself, fears, shadows, etc etc

4) last movie - I actually rewatched the animated "flashpoint" movie recently because of the new flash trailer, ha. still can't get over thawne walking out of the shadows mid-movie stirring a mug of (?) so casually jsdfhsdkjfs

5) currently reading - like any other mentally well person, I have over 150 ao3 tabs open, so I'll choose the one that's most recent and relevent. the fic's called "something rich and strange" that's (the distortion/martin blackwood) for the magnus archives. take care to read the tags if you click into the fic^^

6) currently watching - not watching anything at all that can't be finished in one sitting because I've been so busy. the only thing I can think of is my once per week saturday blue lock episode. blue lock's a really well animated and cool-looking hardcore soccer anime that I would say is a totally different genre from something like haikyuu. it's about growth and egocentrism and super fun to watch; it's in-progress but there's over 12 episodes out already

7) currently consuming - the last thing I ate was some pani puri and naan >:P

8) currently craving - you don't understand how badly I need to see that flash movie. I need a flash that's a new flavor from the CW's and I also desperate crave for eobard thawne's entire ass character to exist again. if we're talking food, it's a bit too cold for me day after day so a heart and body warming meal of hot pot with lots of greens and root veggies, mushrooms, fish balls with roe, slices of beef and other meats or seafood, various tofus, and a delicious spicy soup base sounds so good right about now but I'd have to pester my roommate to drive me somewhere to grab it... maybe next week heh! another thing might be, hmm, dragon age 4? get in my mouth right now, dreadwolf.

Hey Non. Thanks. It's not my favourite pairing to write, but I got an idea with how to end Ensnared randomly from the server tonight. So I'll have another look at that WIP at some point soon.

I can write TWN-based porn (like A Little Prince) - it's a dark, generically westernised fantasy with lots of pretty people in it, after all - but struggle to get much inspiration for longer/serious stories from it. So if you have a pwp request, I can give it a go, but I can't promise anything more than porn.

Are you talking about Dear Heart when you say "longfic"? The last two bits are planned and ready to write. But it's Jaskier-centric and I'm more interested in rarepairs/the games/books/ttrpg/Gwent these days. I can give it another look once my WBB is out of the way. My main worry is the Jaskier I write now being very different to one from February 2020.

Where you post: Ao3, and I have a very old ff.net account under a different penname (wouldn’t advise reading that one, that was stuff from middle school when I was just starting out)

Most popular one-shot (by kudos):  whether or not we’re fated, we’re meant to be (BNHA), my soulmate mark TodoDeku AU, which was really created because I thought it’d be interesting to explore a world where soulmate marks were tied to quirks and what that would mean for Deku and Deku’s soulmate given that Deku was quirkless and then wasn’t.

Most popular multi-chap (also by kudos): darling, thank god it’s this universe we’re in (and you can annoy me as much as you please) (BNHA)

Somewhat hilariously when I first wrote this, I was actually worried, because most DabiHawks fic back then was angsty canon-compliant pieces, while what I wanted was a fluffy childhood friends AU that basically made sure most of the tragedies in their lives didn’t happen and then making them get together. It was also a pretty self-indulgent piece in many ways because I just added OC’s willy-nilly everywhere (in my defense, BNHA does not have many canon characters who aren’t pro-heroes, and I needed to flesh out the world a bit) with their own side plots, but people actually really seemed to enjoy it!

Personally, I think it came down to the timing of the fic in many ways, but I am glad so many people enjoyed my fluffy childhood friends AU! (And that since it’s AU, I don’t have to worry too much about canon ruining anything about it)

Favorite story you’ve written so far: Hm, so that’s a pretty difficult question since I change my mind about which fics I love best all the time, but let’s see--Divorce AU holds a special place in my heart obviously, but I think my three favorites today are: be all my sins remembered and more (GOTG), a pretty personal fic exploring Mantis and her relationship towards Ego’s other children and the GOTG crew, and was also the fic that really got me back into the writing grind. my heart goes doki-doki for you (and other fucking annoying things) (BNHA) as my very first BNHA fic that of course I did rarepair ShinIida for, and Knock me off my pedestal (and entangle with me on the ground) (TGCF) because it’s the QuanYin fic that I wrote to completely satisfy my own QuanYin tastes, and I’m happy every time I reread it. Oh and Dead Devotion (Hannibal) because I tried to make it as purple-prosey as the show, and I thought it was one of my more beautiful pieces.       

Fics you were nervous to post: I mentioned that I was a bit nervous before posting darling, thank god it’s this universe, but other standout times were Merry Christmas Gege (GHFOD) since that was the first smut fic I’d written, and Running Home to You (DCU) because it was my first time writing from a African-American man’s perspective.

I actually do have a few drafts/ideas that I haven’t finished just because I’m kind of nervous about posting them, including a Critical Role BeauJester piece and a Captain Marvel Yon-Rogg piece.

How do you choose your titles: Depending on the fic, sometimes I go for themes, like with my MCU pieces, I tried to riff off of famous Shakespeare lines, Hades and Wonder Woman I sort of tried to go for lines from the Iliad, and my FMA piece is a Bible quote. But as you can sort of tell, a lot of fics are just song lyricy type titles that I come up with by trying to think about how the character who the fic focuses on would maybe title it. But sometimes, I also just go for more jokey titles if the piece is lighter.

Do you outline?: I generally have a bunch of dialogue snippets in the rough order that I think they’ll go in, and I usually have a very general outline in my head of certain scenes that I want to happen.

Complete: A couple of zine fics that I can’t post yet.

In-progress: Actually somewhat in progress: last chapter of FMA fic, a Shiniida vampire/werewolf AU, a Fear Street Cindy/Alice fic. On hold with half a draft and hopes that I’ll finish eventually: JJK ItaFushi bookstore AU, Scum Villain/TGCF 79 actor AU, a BNHA ShigaNatsu gamer AU, and a Critical Role BeauJester piece

Coming soon: Maybe hopefully the last chapter of FMA fic and the Shiniida vampire/werewolf AU???? Or maybe the Fear Street Cindy/Alice fic will win out first, who knows, not me.

Not started: DabiHawks Asian Idol AU (I know, I know, once the FMA multichap is done, I hope to start on it), vague ideas for a Hawks rebirth fic, or a transmigration fic where Touya ends up in a game where Hawks starts off as a hero but ends up as a villain, and Touya wants to stop that from happening.

Prompts?: Very rarely, mostly for server events

Upcoming work you’re most excited about: Fear Street Cindy/Alice fic because they have no fic at all, and that’s a travesty! I’m going to let them live and give them all the realizing comphet-ness and bi panic they deserved!

Name: Argon. I’m also Sir Humphrey (KG GCMG CH OM FRS) on the Azulaang Gaang discord server. I have no idea why I made the switch to that.

Fandoms: I am writing two (possibly three) fics for Avatar: The Last Airbender, and I wrote (and likely abandoned) a Game of Thrones fic. I am also deeply in the Harry Potter fandom and a stalwart proponent of Haphne, the only HP ship I shall accept as canon. Tangential fandoms include Star Wars, Doctor Who, and more!

My sites: Archive of Our Own continues to be my domain of choice for posting, but I may expand to FFnet later on.

Most popular active fic: The Way to Cook, a fluffy and slightly romantic adventure where our beloved monk boi Aang teaches Azula how to cook, recipe by recipe. Where this goes depends on how hungry I am at the time of writing.

Favourite fic to write so far: It is a choice between The Way to Cook, or A Night at the Opera. Mostly because I love writing rarepairs for dear old Aang, and because fluff is too nice to not write.

Fic I was very nervous to post: Without hesitation, A Night at the Opera, my first fic after a four-year hiatus. Being absent from writing and lots of developments in my life made returning to it difficult, not to mention the changes to my preferences and my style. Thanks to @praetorqueenreyna, however, the idea for this became a snippet, and then a full-blown fanfic! It’s good to be back!

How I choose my titles: A Night at the Opera sounds appropriate for a fic that starts at the opera, doesn’t it? The Way to Cook, now that’s taken straight from a cooking series by Julia Child. Naturally, it became the title for the foodfic. I am not a creative person with regards to titles.

My outlining process: My current writing is an agglomeration of disparate thoughts which, if one were to take a generous view of it, may be seen to contain a certain centralised alignment when considered globally with a noticeable direction perhaps, even though the particular content of said work is often fragmented in nature and ultimately appears to have limited purpose upon closer examination. Or rather, I rarely outline and instead choose to write whatever I think fits, with a rough idea in mind for what ought to happen. Maybe I should outline, come to think of it.

Completed fics: None, because I am dreadful at writing on a schedule. Feel free to yell at me every now and then on here to push my writing along.

Do I take prompts: Yes! Any and all prompts and questions! I need ideas to steal incorporate into my fics at all times!

Upcoming fics: I can’t promise anything yet, but I have another Azulaang fic in the works, from an old prompt I saw about the two of them going on Spirit World adventures on Azula’s birthday each year. Also be on the lookout for the next chapters of A Night at the Opera and The Way to Cook. Both are in progress at the moment.
