This year : Leave the Fire Burning , my post-season 2 sex pollen getting back together fic.  This was also one of my first stories to be in Michael’s POV.

Overall: it’s still my first finished work here, truth (to the people we love) - that I posted in Nov 2019. Probably the most ideal way to enter a fandom, lots of great people warmly welcomed me in and I still get emotional thinking about it.


Most Popular Multi-Chapter (by kudos)
Overall: last year’s wishes are this year’s apologies - if I’m known by one story, it’s this one and you know what, I’m okay with it. This story changed my fandom life and honestly, my confidence level. I’m extremely harsh on myself, and often hate something once it’s done, so when I reread the epilogue just the other day, I thought “this is still good, well done L” that’s unique for me. This year:

Favorite story you’ve written so far:
 Oh I would say “Leave the Fire Burning” because I wrote it very quickly almost in a trance. 2020 has been a challenging year for writing for the most part, long battles with days of only a 100 words here or there, but that story was basically 20 K in 10 days. A runner up is you give me a good reason to be heartsick again (let me down easy) - my salty post season 2 co-write with Christi @michaels-blackhat where we made fun of the narrative surrounding Forrest and Forlex for almost 6,000 words. I haven’t done a co-write in years, and Christi was game for it and so gracious about my bossy participation ❤️...

Fic you were nervous to post: All of them, but I would say my upcoming Big Bang is giving me butterflies since it references a lot of what happened in season 2, and generally the fandom response to season 2 is pretty polarizing?

How do you choose your titles?: Song titles generally, or sometimes it’s a song lyric that I misremember? Like “Leave the Fire Burning” is related to a Noah Gunderson song “Fire Don’t Die”. I also liked to repurpose lines of dialog from the show into titles, like “truth (to the people we love)” was cannibalized from Michael’s speech to Isobel, “maybe it’s time to tell the truth to the people we love”. And “If You Regret (What You Know) was from Michael’s conversation with Alex in 1x10. Yes, I’m going to continue to abuse punctuation in my titles.

Do you outline?: Yes, absolutely. The outline is allowed to change, with inserted scenes or scenes that get blended together but every project that I’ve made some progress on has an outline that I write within. I like to use brackets, and write just above it, so I can see my goals as a go and to keep my focus.

Complete: 6 works, soon to be 7 when the Big Bang goes live.

In-Progress:  *laughs uncontrollably* A LOT. I’ve somehow acquired a circle of friends who are constantly dropping soft and sad head canons on me and then it turns into a fic idea. Right now, I’m working on “This Hard Love” to finish by the end of the year. Next up after that, I want to finish my epilogue to “Last Year’s Wishes”, write the Michael POV scenes that others have requested previously, and then dive into my LYW prequel/Lost Decade epic “prettier and younger, but not any better off”. Also smaller projects in the works, some AUs - like Michael is a guitar maker and Alex is a Nashville star called “Summon Out of These Hollow Places” - @haloud , @adiwriting and @christchex are firmly to blame for that project, along with “Dress Blues (hold me lover, this ain’t an arms race) - Michael becomes Alex’s military spouse and follows him around. I also started a really dark, torture Michael story for @ninswhimsy called “Piece by Piece” where Mr. Jones basically trades Michael to be experimented on and Alex & Maria go undercover to save him. And finally, I’ve got “Why Can’t I Change” - Michael dating during season 3 with background Forlex, and my really sad epic “Grave Dancer’s Union” where Sanders is dying and Michael is his caretaker.

Coming soon/not yet started:  All of the above have some words, outlines, etc. Not yet started- stuff like a coma AU, where Jesse puts Alex into a longterm care facility when he’s a teenager and Michael “meets” him because he’s visiting Isobel after the drifter’s attack. “Pressing on a bruse (we can heal)” is my sequel to “Truth” that has taken me forever but still planned, Duty of Care needs some reworking to turn it into a canon-divergent AU, same with “Gather Your Skeletons” my attempt at a soul-bond fic for Malex.

Prompts?: I’ve still got a few in my ask box that are old enough to vote, and as you all can see, I’ve got a lot of google docs in progress. So sure, you can submit, but I don’t know if I’ll get there. I’m better at answering questions about WIPs in progress- like I’ve definitely written more on some of those WIPs just from that last meme that went around. So sending me a nudge about something in progress might get you a sneak peek faster than sending me a whole prompt. With RNM there’s always a chance something will happen and turn you off of the fandom before I can fill the prompt submitted.

Upcoming work you’re most excited about: I would say my prequel to LYW. It’s looking quite long, especially the sections where Michael transitions from sneaker and jeans to jeans and cowboy boots with a big belt buckle. I’ve got a lot of horse knowledge I can’t wait to bore everyone with !

@roseofcards90 Thanks for tagging me in this! Sorry I took *checks date* a month to get around to it, lmao I’m just gonna skip finding gifs or pictures, a) to save time and b) because some of these characters have like zero good pictures or gifs to use. I’ll just talk about them instead, I guess.

1. Mamimi Samejima - FLCL (OVA, 2000) Just a kid tryna figure it all out... bless. The source of most of my favourite shots in the show, not to mention her character arc being my favourite subplot as well. She’s also impossible not to read as neurodivergent in some way and that's always cool!

2. Madotsuki - Yume Nikki (Video game, 2004-2007) Not much to her on the surface, but the gimmick of Yume Nikki is that you're probably intended to view all the imagery in game as a character exploration of her (obviously, considering you're literally walking around her dreams). It makes her character very subjective and really fun to theorize about! I just like that concept a lot.

3. Accord - Drakengard 3 / DRAG-ON DRAGOON 3 (Video game, 2013) The actual most powerful character in the entire Drakengard/Nier series. She no joke controls the whole timeline. It's her job to. Also she has a briefcase that she beats people over the head with. Literally what more do you want??

4. Crystal - Pokémon Adventures / Pocket Monsters SPECIAL (Manga series, 1997-ongoing) The most competent Dexholder in the entire manga. The one in the series who catch 'em all-ed. Literally caught a whole route of Pokémon on the way to the job interview where she would be hired to catch Pokémon. God I wish I had her work ethic. How do you do it girl. Also she kicks Poké-Balls at Pokémon to catch them??? Holy fuck. Goals. Goals. Teach me that. Please. I beg. Kusaka why can't you write your Pokéspe women like this anymore when did you lose your memory of how to do this shit

5. Kumatora - Mother 3 (Video game, 2006) Psychic energy-using tomboy princess who does whatever the fuck she so desires. Her introduction shows her getting caught in a bear trap, kicking ass while still in the bear trap, then nonchalantly going "Damn, this thing's not coming off, guess I'll have to amputate it or whatever," and if that doesn't showcase how hilariously kickass she is, I don't know what else will?? She was also raised by Magypsies who are the dopest non-binary rep ever. Bonus points for that.

6. Unnamed girl on CD jacket - Hourai Doll ～ Dolls in Pseudo Paradise / Hourai Ningyou ～ Dolls in Pseudo Paradise (Concept album, 2002) Wow I really go straight for the deep cuts, huh? But still, killing your band of asshole bandits to run off and fall in love with the pretty miko girl? I love that. Girlboss energy. My 12 year old emo self would be all for this. Please note that since the story is Agatha Christie-inspired and up to interpretation, that's just my own theory, but it falls close in line with what most of the community theorizes, so whatever. Shoutout to Renko Usami and Maribel Hearn who almost would've gotten a spot but I have a spot in my heart for the first album in the series, so Jacket no Anoko takes it.

7. Erika Furudo - Umineko When They Cry Answer Arcs / Umineko no Naku Koro ni Chiru (Visual novel, 2009-2010) -Fuck you -Choke -Die, as a result

8. Juri Arisugawa - Revolutionary Girl Utena / Shoujo Kakumei Utena (TV anime, 1997) “Let’s go lesbians” incarnate. Her love triangle with Shiori and Ruka is so damn masterful and leads to my favourite two-parter episode of any anime series ever. One of the main reasons I love the show to death. I almost wish they gave her more screentime in the movie even though I know for sure that would’ve ruined its pacing...

9. Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower - Bloodborne (Video game, 2015) The single hunter who regretted being a part of a group who fucked over an innocent village and is powerful enough to just sit outside it and keep others from coming in to terrorize them anymore. Godlike girlboss energy radiates from her very pores. Also her lore hits even harder if you analyse the game as an anti-colonialist and feminist piece, considering the majority of hunters the player hears of or meets are men. Insert something something about how Eileen is the one to kill hunters who have gone mad from power and Maria is the one to cover up their mistakes. In this essay I will

10. Aigis / Aegis - Persona 3 (Video game, 2006) Yeah I know, anime robot gf, I'm basic. But there's a reason people like her! Also I absolutely believe she's supposed to be the audience surrogate and not the protagonist because her arc more closely ties to the message of the game and the audience has more of a grasp on her character than the protagonist near endgame. I should stop before this becomes long-winded. Oh it already is. Fuck.

Y - your favourite foods: I don’t really eat junk, but sweet-wise I love blueberry muffins, ice cream with a floral flavour, fruitcakes, scones... I just literally adore everything my mum has ever cooked or baked (I worship her skills). Almonds, bananas, avocados....fresh fish......lovely tomato-based sauces. Parsnips. Ham bone soup. Muesli and Greek yoghurt. Anything that could even loosely be considered Mediterranean.

Get To Know Me Tag

So I thought if I was going to start writing a blog again then I might as well post some personal information online for people to read. I hope you find these interesting if not comical and enjoy reading!

1. What is your full name?

My full name is Megan Ivy Parsons.

2. What is your favourite colour

If you have seen my Instagram recently you will have probably noticed a lot of red features.

3. Who was your first best friend?

My first best friend is actually still one of my best friends now, even though we drifted through secondary school we became very close again in Sixth Form. 

4. How tall are you?

I’m around 5ft 5 ( i think...)

5. Cats or Dogs?

DOGS!! I can’t explain how much I love dogs haha. I work in a tearoom and volunteer on a regular basis to go down to the ‘potwash’ room just so I can cuddle the dogs.

6.Funniest moment throughout School?

I have so many! Always find however that the best memories happened in summer when we would sit on the field. 

7. Countries you want to visit?

I want to go to Thailand to experience living in a Buddhist community more than anything. I also really want to travel to India to see the elephants. Different cultures excite me more than anything, but exploring Europe one day is definitely on my list too. 

8. Are you in/have you gone to college?

I am currently in year 13 at college/ sixth form. 

9. What was your favourite/worst subject in Secondary School?

Maths was always my worst subject. I remember having a teacher in year 7-9 who completely crushed my confidence and I don’t think I ever got it back. I spent year 10 and 11 working to get a C and thankfully I got it in the end! Although I hate to admit it, I couldn’t have done it without the nagging of the teachers. 

My favourite subject was probably IT!! I absolutely loved it and still miss doing it now.

10. What is your Favorite drink?

I LOVE sparkling water!! 

11. What is your favourite animal?

Elephants are my favourite animals by far.

12. What is your favourite perfume?

Ghost is probably the scent people know me for wearing, but I love the Brittany Spears collection a lot too mostly because of how sweet they smell. 

13. Tea or Coffee?

Coffee, I hate tea.

14. What would you (or have you) name(d) your children?

I really want to name my children after my Granny and my Great Aunt, Eliza and Levinia. I did get my palm read however and the likelihood of having 2 girls is very slim after finding out that 2 boys are on cards. Maybe they will just have to have female names.

15. What Sports do you play/Have you played?

I used to play rugby.

16. What is your favourite book?

Agatha Christie’s ‘The Thirteen Problems’, but I REALLY want to read ‘The Secret’ too!

17. Who are some of your favourite YouTubers?

Sophia and Cinzia, Patricia Bright, Samantha Maria!! Lydia Elise Millen, Niomi Smart, Rebbecca Spencer (although she is more of a photographer)

18. What is your favourite movie?

My all-time favourite movie is probably Grease, however, at the moment The Greatest Showman is deffo up there. I am SUCH a musical girl and refuse to speak to anyone who does like Les Mis.

19. Are you Single or Taken?

Taken 

20. Favourite memory from childhood?

Playing cricket in my grandparent’s field at the back of their pub. I don’t know how true my memory is but I just remember laughing and giggling and that makes me happy.

21. Do you speak any different languages and how well?

I can only speak English and I can’t even speak that very well at times haha!

22. Do you have any siblings?

1 brother and 1 sister.

23. How would you describe your fashion sense?

I like to try and say I have a fashion sense, however, I do question it sometimes. I really enjoy simple clothing with one major eye-catching part to it, whether that be an accessory or a jacket or something. I do really enjoy boho fashion too and I think that type of clothing in summer makes me feel so comfortable and happy. I would do so much more with my fashion if I could afford to.

24. What is your favourite restaurant?

I don’t really eat out all much, however anywhere with a kebab and I’m willing.

25. What are some of your favourite tv shows?

Ahh so many!!

-The Vampire Diaries -Friends -How I Met Your Mother -Riverdale (although very far-fetched these days and cringey) -Bojack Horseman -Santa Clarita Diet is amazing!! -Gossip Girl -Ru Paul’s Drag Race

26. PC or Mac? Unpopular opinion but I hate any type of Apple product except their Ipad’s (and that’s only because of their apps.) Can’t be dealing with their batteries in my life lol so PC.

27. What phone do you have? (iOS v Android?)

I have an Android for the reason above and love it. 

28. Tell us one of your bad habits!

Biting my nails, so grim and I don’t even know I’m doing it half the time.

29. What subjects do you take at school?

I take Media, Photography and English Literature. I love them all, however, I am SO ready to never do any of them for a while.

30. Dream job?

I see myself doing something digitally creative in the future, however, I’m not sure. Any type of job which I enjoy and provides me with enough money to live on really.
