the thing about "likes do nothing" is that they actually do: they let me know that someone enjoyed, related to, or sympathized with the things I made
#ok hold my hand for a moment#can we agree a lot of the ''likes do nothing on tumblr'' are exaggerating#yes? okay lets keep going#i think what most of those people mean (well. me i mean me) is that we are afraid an on slayght of new ppl from twt/tt#only hitting like and moving on signals to the site#which is ''yes the userbase wants a mystified alogrithm feed them''#of course you dont have to share every thing you like#but the empty blogs with hidden likes and no posts does not help anyone#and also to the person specifically saying ''i'm not being paid to do marketing for your post lol'' you are very stupid#and i hope you never have a good day ever again
