I just wanted to quickly say thank you guys!! Like... LIKE REALLY!!! THANK YALL SO MUCH!!!! The amount of constant love I receive for my work has been overwhelmingly wonderful to experience. I don't even know how to put it all into words. BUT IM GONNA TRY!

FAIR WARNING! I'm about to be really really sappy under the cut. So feel free to ignore that if you wish. But I got a lot of emotions I'm about to try to say.

Hi hello and hi. Um. Well, it's hard to explain how much this has meant to me. How much your kind words have sent waves of joy through my heart. How much every like has made me smile. How every reblog has made me feel a rush of pride. Every person who spammed me with likes when finding my blog, every person who talks in the tags when reblogging me, every person who shows up constantly in my notifs, every mutual who interacts with me even in the smallest of ways, every other artist I interacted with who has been kind to me.

All of it. Every single notif has made me smile in some way and I cannot thank you enough. I was so genuinely shy about sharing Dandy with Tumblr because I began drawing Dandy at a very turbulent time of my life. My WH art and oc had become a place of comfort for my mind and I had wanted to interact with the community for a long while but I'm skittish by nature so it took a LOT of mental prep for me to start posting this stuff here.

And the fact I have so much positivity in my notifs! I really needed that. Truly, I did. I still don't see myself as a big artist by any means, but I know I'm so lucky to have the bit of engagement I do from yall!

I feel like I'm rambling. Needless to say...it means the absolute world to me that the art that brings me joy is given such love by yall. Even if hyperfixations change, even if time marches us all in different directions, I'm thankful to have this. Right now. When I needed it.

Just like the rest! Tele has only one ability. But, her ability can list options on whether she should heal them, increase their stealth or boost everytoons' stamina! (please don't buy her.) However, the cooldown timer is set to 2 floors, so choose wisely! (If you're playing as her.)

- Her and Vee are good companions. (oh wow! yay!)

- Telepata glows in sea light green when there's a blackout. (she's like a glitch so yeah!!.. no.)

• This might apply to her Twisted self as well. (possibly.. im not quite completed with this character yet so meh)

- Twisted Telepata only appears after Floor 5. (omg how nice!! she's must be such an important toon ever!! she's literally an uncommon twisted wdym after floor 5.)

- It is (almost) impossible for Telepata to hate anything or anyone (but there'll be exceptions like did you not see what i--) because she's an information and a profile tracker and the more she observed / understands a certain Toon, the more she empathize. Including being neutral to Shrimpo instead of hating him back. And she easily controls / manages her emotions well. (LMAOAO WHAATT 😭😭)

Helloo! My name is Lyla and I like your concept of Dandy! I would like to ask, did anything inspire them? Also, which gender are they? (IMO, they look like a girl to me....😊 but if you think otherwise, that's fine❤)

OH HELLO!!! Thank you I'm so glad that people like Dandy so much, it makes me so so giddy!!! Um, Dandy is inspired by a lot of things! Lots of my personal interests soaked into Dandy when I was designing them.

If you don't mind me rambling a little about Dandy's process, Dandy took me 3 months to make! Give or take at least. And they went through three other revisions before I was happy with their look!

THESE WERE ALL THREE GOING TO BE DANDY! I was a little directionless when I made these three. I just knew "flowers" and that was...it. But otherwise I was kinda just throwing things at a wall and seeing what sticked. The last one is the closest to what Dandy ended up as but still wasn't quite right! Eventually I had to put these away and make a sort of inspo board, look at colors and clothes and puppets I liked. BUT YES there is one BIG MAIN INSPIRATION that really cemented Dandy's silly look. And it's THIS GUY!

Boober from Fraggle Rock! Like when I saw him I realized I remembered the show growing up and I just... AUGH it filled me with joy to remember so I picked him up, picked up some color palettes I liked, picked up some clothes images, and ran with it. Eventually they ended up as the little goober we all know today!

OH RIGHT! GENDER! yes yes um. Dandy is androgynous! On purpose! They're inspired by characters I grew up with, like Crona from Soul Eater, where no one could seem to agree what pronouns to give them. So Dandy is meant to be a character the writers couldn't seem to agree was masculine or feminine so the show and physical illustrations flip flopped between he and she. That is to say, all are correct! Dandy goes by any! I use they/them to try and be consistent but otherwise you may call them what you wish! So you may use she/her when addressing them if you so wish!

Today's date creeps up on him sooner than he'd like and weighs on him more than he'd care to admit. There's a certain sense of obligation to the date despite his obvious hang ups. However, the many moments spent alone one another made their connection … complicated, to say the least. Neito was many things but he wasn't a liar. There was no sense lying to himself about what this blossoming right beneath his nose. It's what leads him to her dorm at a vacant hour just to leave it waiting right outside her door and slip away to avoid any unwanted attention. Trying to explain his way out of this would prove more challenging than his decision to deliver it in the first place.

Deciding what to leave behind actually came to him easier than he thought. Sweets. Chocolate cookies and covered strawberries sat in boxes fitting one description: gold. The significance spoke for itself, neatly hiding the note underneath that lacked a sender but not the importance of the day.

'Happy Birthday.' -For the birthday girl!

she's not expecting anything, honestly. in most cases, she'd rather keep her birthday a secret than go around blabbing the date. ochako wasn't numb to the fact that the holidays were such a hard time of the year for so many and the last thing she ever wanted to do was have someone worrying over her getting a birthday gift two days after the christmas holiday.

waking up this morning, ochako layed in bed a little longer than she normally would have. the covers were warm, the room was dark, it would be so much easier to fall back to sleep rather than start her day, but the earlier she started it, the sooner she got it over with, right? right.

rubbing tired eyes and mussing down some stray brunette locks, ochako shuffled her way towards her dorm door and thank goodness she looked down when opening it, or she might've stepped all over the gift someone had left her.

the gift was wrapped neatly. covered in gold. noticing it, ochako felt her heart flutter-- had he really gone to all this trouble? bending down ochako undid the wrappings and felt her cheeks tinge pink. chocolate covered strawberries and cookies? she found herself smiling, and before anyone else could see her and make a comment, she shut her door and placed the gift on her desk, the card slipping to the side when she placed it down.

as expected there was no sender on the card, but the golden wrappings were all ochako needed to see to knoe who it was from. pulling her cell from her pocket, she dialed neito's number.

" morning nei. " there's a pause and ochako laughs, her cheeks darkening as she makes for the door again. " wait up for me and let's walk to our classes together, yeah? oh! and.. you didn't have to, but, thank you. "

personally i don't mind either, but i find myself drawing in mspaint to relax. it's extremely low maintenance but for whatever reason it lags like HELL on my laptop which means that, unfortunately, it is time to get a new laptop methinks

dragons, monsters, and animals mostly. pkmn as well. any sort of critter than i can break down into shapes. i rarely draw ppl when i feel bad and you can gauge my general mood based on how many humanoid characters i'm drawing

Great thought, but for those unaware, Kate Mulgrew's gorgeous tux from The Killing Game was 100% a reference to Dietrich's suit in Blonde Venus (1932) with Cary Grant, a pre-Code film directed by Josef von Sternberg. It's hard to tell in Killing Game, but Mulgrew's lapels are also sequined. So is the stripe in the trousers. It is basically a replica of Dietrich's suit, no question.

Okay, so I have a PhD in queer fashion and media. So this is something I happen to know a lot about. So let me explain a few things.

For starters, You cannot get a more explicitly queer-coded woman than Marlene Dietrich.

Cary Grant (another closeted Queer in Hollywood) is also in Blonde Venus, and although their chemistry is great, their romance is unbelievable because it's very clear that they are both absolutely queer. Hattie McDaniel appears in this film, another Queer in Hollywood (and the first Black person ever to win an Oscar). In both Blonde Venus and Morocco (1930), Dietrich flirts with both men and women. Dietrich was considered a Drag King in her day. She famously proclaimed, 'I am a gentleman at heart.'

Dietrich often refused to wear anything but trousers, and openly declared that she had plenty of women lovers. She is an iconic staple for queer sexuality even today. She famously kissed a woman in Morocco whilst wearing a tuxedo- with an audience watching and cheering. She then kisses a man, the audience applauds, and she exits. This scene (below) was added at Dietrich's own behest. The scene was extremely controversial, and they had to defend it against the censors for months.

This very scene is one of the many reasons The Hays Code was enacted (rules from a super-Catholic man who bribed his way into Hollywood and forced the religious ideologies onto the screen), and this scene was one that The Hays Code often pointed to as 'immoral' and 'perverted' and 'sexually explicit.' You can thank the Hays Code for the split beds Lucy and Ricky had, for rules that a kiss must not last longer than a certain amount of time, that, absolutely, NO queer ANYTHING could be acknowledged to exist. Everything had to be subtext, and that's why so many old black and white films feel really queer.

But Dietrich openly proclaimed herself queer, dressed in men's clothing, kissed women on screen- and became a Queer icon not just in fashion, but in sexuality, decadence, and identity. The so-called famous 'Dietrich's Sewing Circle' (of which Hattie McDaniel was a member) was essentially every Queer woman in Hollywood who all had affairs with each other. Books have been written on this. Here's a brief article about one of those books that goes through some of the basics.

Okay, Queer Fashion Film Academic, what's your point?

The point is that by wearing a duplicate of a Dietrich suit- one where she openly flirted with women, no less--Janeway is 100% coded as queer in The Killing Game.

Especially with that tuxedo scene and the way she's talking to Seven. In fact, most of the scenes in those episodes where she is talking to Seven, you will notice that Mulgrew plays Janeway with a bite- her eyes linger on Seven just a bit longer, her body language is just a bit more open and fierce than usual.

Even in Paris, for a woman to wear what Mulgrew/Janeway is clearly coding herself as a Queer person through that specific outfit. She is wearing a giant billboard that says I AM QUEER.

By putting Kate Mulgrew in a replica of a Dietrich 1940s tuxedo, Janeway is visually coded as queer through replication and imitation of one of the most Queer icons in cinematic history. That suit is too famous, too iconic, too specifically loaded with subtext and text of queerness through Dietrich.

I am convinced that the costume department 100% knew what they were doing, and part of me wonders if Kate Mulgrew herself had pushed for that suit. Why? Because Kate Mulgrew herself was the one who pushed for Janeway to have a same-sex relationship. According to Screenrant, anyway):

(Anyway, regardless of whether Screenrant is correct or not, the point still stands without that.)

Watch Blonde Venus. Watch Morocco. Then, watch Kate Mulgrew in The Killing Game. She imitates Dietrich's body-language, her mannerisms, the smirk, in that opening scene. There is no question- Janeway has been possessed by Dietrich's characters.

Funnily enough, for the rest of those two episodes, Kate Mulgrew is also very clearly imitating another Queer woman through her voice intonation and mannerisms, general fashion and hairstyles: Katharine Hepburn.

Because of her absurd visual and voice similarity to Katharine Hepburn (another Queer in Dietrich's sewing circle), Mulgrew once played Hepburn in Tea at Five.

Like Dietrich (bisexual), Hepburn was very clearly Queer coded. Evidence suggests that she was a lesbian and that her relationship with Tracy was set up by the studios, but it is possible that she was bisexual as well. Like Dietrich, she was also famous in Hollywood for her male-coded attire, though she preferred regular suits to Dietrich's tuxedos.

She, like Dietrich, had the same problem whenever they teamed up with Cary Grant- watch Philadelphia Story and tell me that the real ending of that movie is not Hepburn's character, Grant's character and Stewart's character all ending up in a thruple together. The movie makes no sense if that's not the real ending.

Hepburn wore trousers on film sets and this upset the studio so much they literally stole her trousers, trying to force her into a skirt. Hepburn just walked around in her knickers, refusing to wear the skirt. Eventually, the studio gave her back the trousers.

Okay, I’m going off tangent. Here’s your takeaway:

Kate Mulgrew, (because she's an absurdly amazing talent), is very heavily is influenced in mannerism, voice, accent and appearance by two of the most Queer-Coded women in cinematic history in The Killing Game. Through fashion and performance, she embodies Dietrich's Blonde Venus and Morocco characters, and through appearance, voice and body language, she gives that image an additional layer of of Hepburn's fierce, Queer persona.

Conclusion: Arguably throughout all of Voyager, but specifically In The Killing Game, Kathryn Janeway is visibly Queer.

By the way, although she never got credit for it, the person who wrote Blonde Venus was Dietrich herself. Both she and von Sternberg were suspended for several months because the movie was considered too salacious by the Hays code, and it caused production problems for over a year.
