After that night, the two of them talk constantly. When Andrew's at work, they stick to texting. Because there’s far too many busybodies wandering around for him to be discussing murder or 10’s life on the run. Or anything really. 

And Andrew still loathes the idiot for the gift basket that gave him away. Because now Renee asks about his boyfriend anytime he’s got his phone in his hand and Boyd asks him stupider things like, ‘Do you call your boyfriend ‘dude’?’ which always earns him a glare.

Despite his annoyingly persistent coworkers, Andrew enjoys having this. He’s got a routine built around someone else, something he hasn’t had since he shared a dorm with the idiots he claimed as family. He chats with 10 and goes to put out a fire. He texts with 10 and cuts a kid out of a metal fence— yes, his job truly is thrilling. He talks to 10 before bed and wakes up ready to talk to him again. To hear his sleepy voice and ask how his night was.

He supposes that everyone around him is sort of right about the boyfriend thing. Sort of.

If 10 were into him, Andrew would perhaps classify them as... something. But he’s not. And dating over the phone really isn’t a thing. He thinks.

‘It’s called long distance,’ Renee says when he tells her that. And he snaps back that the distance isn’t that long. But he certainly won’t tell her that 10 is living in a hotel here in town because he’s a traveling arsonist who enjoys getting on Andrew’s nerves. That would be insane, even if it's the truth.

His body is shivering violently, teeth chattering as he tries to nuzzle further into your hoodie. He didn't think it would start snowing. Sure, he knew it was cloudy out when practice was over, but he thought he had more time. He thought that maybe it would start snowing tonight when he was cuddled up with you in his bed.

But no. Here he was, alone in his room while you were off doing your studies. His whole body ached as he trembled, his tail wrapped around himself in a futile attempt to stay warm. Even with your hoodie and his blanket, he was still so cold. He cursed himself for not buying that comforter he had seen at the store. It would've come in handy right now.

He missed you by his side. By now, he would've had his face nestled against your neck, keeping you close to him as he tried to sleep. If he thought hard enough, he could still feel your arms around him, rubbing those soothing circles into his back. Your calm heartbeat that would lull him to sleep, feeling safe and content with you by his side. He hated how long it took you to finish in the library. Sometimes you could be in there all day and all night, only leaving before curfew started so you wouldn't get in trouble.

You wouldn't stay that long tonight, would you? He hoped not. He desperately needed your warmth, and he wasn't brave enough to leave the warmth of his blanket to beg for you to hurry. He knew it wouldn't make you go any faster, anyway.

He doesn't know when he had dozed off. He just knows how groggy he feels when he hears his door push open, followed by the sound of your soft voice calling out to him. He takes a second to let his eyes adjust before he looks over his shoulder, smiling when he sees you. You're all bundled up, though that isn't a surprise. But he notices the blanket you're holding in your hands and he can't stop his tail from thumping the bed.

“I didn't mean to wake you.” Your voice is soft as you slip the plug into the outlet before making your way over to him. He scoots over, trying his best to ignore just how cold the mattress is underneath him as he opens the blanket for you.

“You're fine, love.” He smiles when he feels you drape the blanket over top, having put it to the highest setting. He's sure you'll throw it off of your side the second you get too warm, but he appreciates that you had brought it for him. The thermal blanket, he decided, was one of the greatest inventions by man. But he's happiest when you crawl into bed beside him. He pulls the comforter and thermal blanket over you, dragging you across the bed and right against his chest. Your skin is so cold but it doesn't matter as he buries his face in your neck, a loud purr starting up. It's like the horrors of the cold world melt away as he breathes in your scent, pressing soft kisses to your neck.

“I've missed you.” His voice is muffled against you, but he hears that little amused huff you let out.

“I've missed you, too, Rainy.” He feels the kiss you press to the top of his head, your arms wrapping around him as well. He's never felt so comfortable before, especially in the middle of winter. “You feel better now?”

He lets out a hum as he nods his head. How couldn't he? Your scent enveloped him, along with your natural body heat. You held him so close and made him feel so safe and loved, and your voice was just so soothing to hear whenever you talked.

Snowfall be damned. He was right where he needed to be: nestled in your arms and basking in your love.

I saw vol 3 again because I wanted a second pass at it before landing on my final thoughts. The conclusion I've come to is James Gunn didn't want to talk about Gamora being murdered in the movie because he knew it would provide a strong contrast between Gamora being killed in Infinity War and how he wrote this whole story about Rocket deserving to live and not have his life taken away by his abuser. The contrast isn't pretty. But the truth is nothing about how Thanos treated Gamora was pretty. Covering that up doesn't make it go away. He didn't want to do the hard thing of acknowledging that 2018 Gamora wasn't getting a happy ending with eveyone else. That 2014 Gamora wasn't getting a full story because her life got thrown off course when she came to the future and she didn't get much time or space in vol 3 to reconcile the different parts of herself.

I noticed a few people have been really confused or upset about James Gunn calling the ravagers Gamora's real family. After seeing vol 3 again I'm confident in saying his comment is wrong and also insulting to the entire situation. The premise of the movie is Gamora has been avoiding the guardians and hearing anything about a different life she had. I really do wish this had been explored more but for now I'll add it to my list of things I wish were better for Gamora. As the film continues eventually Gamora finds her own rhythm with the guardians. We see her be the one to stab the High Evolutionary and unmask him. This is actually a pretty meaningful moment when considering what went down in IW and also how at times Gamora isn't used to her potential in the movie. After that she's all in helping save the animals and kids and generally being a guardian. She also has a sweet moment with Groot at the end where she can finally understand him and they have what I would say is an exchange that parallels vol 2 when Gamora stopped to tell Groot goodbye and make sure he would be okay before leaving with Ego. This change in her comfortability with the guardians and with knowing about and experiencing a life she had been avoiding has to mean something. It wouldn't make sense for her to not be considered family when going through things together and finding understanding and moments of connectivity is what makes the guardians a family. The family keeps getting bigger. It's added Mantis, Kraglin, Nebula and even Adam and blurp by the end. Why wouldn't she be family too. So I don't know what James Gunn was talking about. Either he worded his comment badly, forgot how he's written his own movies or he was being a jerk to Gamora, but either way I don't really think his comment needs defending. Also I'll add to this that Gamora having a change in how she feels around the guardians and having moments with Groot and Peter is probably the best writing for her in a sea of other stuff that wasn't written very well. If I were James I would want to hype that up more not less. It's the saving grace along with Zoe's acting which he honestly should be praising because she carried that role where the writing failed.

Sorry this got so long but I have been saving up all my thoughts. Thanks for letting myself and others share even if it's cost you some followers. That's there loss though because you're awesome.

yeah the contrast between rocket and gamora's overall stories from vol 1 to now is just....Wow Choices Were Made. kinda along the same lines of how i think gunn was maybe more unserious abt the gamora thing than i would've expected, i'm wondering if he had this like way more optimistic pov that like 2014!gamora finding a new/additional family away from the gotg would be like a fix-it or catch-all of sorts and that ppl just wouldn't rly care abt it deeper than that...? cuz otherwise this whole thing is just so messy and not cohesive lol

hi! i absolutely loved the most recent chapter and it gave me an idea and inspired me to write this, i hope that's okay! after how you described atsumu's feelings about osamu drifting away it made me think that it's probably been affecting him for a while and i feel like he probably went to y/n at some point about it, so here's a little hurt/comfort drabble about that!

tonight, it had been the icy glance osamu sent his way as he prepped dinner on the kitchen island. his twin's stone grey eyes suspiciously following his movements as if he was analyzing and criticizing each and every little motion.

"'samu," atsumu acknowledged his brother trying to ease some of the tension, yet completely ignored the woman latched onto his side. osamu flicked his eyes back to his work, letting out a breathy scoff as he did so. atsumu knew his brother always hated people crowding him in the kitchen when he was trying to cook. so how was it that his own brother seemed to annoy him more than meiko's clingy grasp?

the action plunged a knife deep into his heart, and atsumu found himself frozen, staring at his brother. was it just him, or was the oxygen in the kitchen suddenly running low?

"'m just grabbing a drink, then i'll be outta yer way," he explained, not in the mood to deal with the pair.

but meiko had other plans. stroking her outgrown acrylics up and down osamu's biceps, meiko lifted herself on to her toes, pressing her rouge lips to osamu's ear. locking her malice striken eyes with atsumu's, she whispered into osamu's ear. it was quiet, but atsumu caught a few words. something about you, atsumu, and sexual favors; the same insult always. but what really twisted the knife already stuck in his heart was the way osamu laughed. he laughed. as if his own brother's emotions were something to be taken as a cheap joke.

so when osamu leaned down to whisper a response into meiko's ear with that same malicious gaze, atsumu decided he didn't want to stay and hear what his brother had to say. so he found himself storming out of the kitchen, drink forgotten. meiko and osamu's snickers fading as his feet instinctively carried him to your room.

however, he faultered upon reaching your closed door. would it really be the best idea idea bother you about this? He knows exactly what you'd say, something along the lines of "you could never bother me" or "i'm here for you no matter what."

but part of him couldn't help feeling guilty. here he was about to dump his problems onto your already heavy shoulders. yet his body started moving on its own and he couldn't stop himself; he wanted ��� no, needed – your comfort. so with three light raps on your door, he called out to you, "angel, it's me, can i come in?"

your voice sounded a muffled confirmation from the other side. wrapping a shaky hand around the doorknob, atsumu entered your dim room. you were nuzzled into your duvet, turned on your side to face the door as you scrolled mindlessly on your phone.

he must have looked pretty pitiful, because as soon as your eyes landed on his hunched form you shot out of bed, fully alert. you were in front of him in no time, bed sheets tossed carelessly to the floor in your haste.

"'tsumu, what happened? what's wrong?" your voice was so soft, so gentle, and your touch even more so. warmth spread across his cheeks as you cupped his face with both hands, your thumb skimming his cheek to clean the trail of tears. had he really been crying? he hadn't noticed.

when he didn't answer, you spoke again. "was it osamu again?" he nodded, god you really did know him so well. it wasn't the first time atsumu had confided in you about his broken relationship with his brother. but still, you just knew, just like how you knew exactly what he needed in this moment.

if you were angry – which you 100% were – you didn't let it show, more concerned with the boy in front of you. one of your hands traveled to the back of atsumu's neck to pull his head down to your shoulder while the other soothingly ran through his hair. "i'm so sorry 'tsumu. i've got you, you're okay." your voice was just above a whisper.

and that was all it took for atsumu to completely unravel. his arms wrapped themselves around your waist to pull you closer into him as he buried his face deeper into the crook of your neck. his tears had surely soaked through the fabric of your shirt by now, but you showed no indication of caring about that. instead, your fingers continued their ministrations in his hair, all the while you whispered sweet affirmations in his ear.

he relished in your warmth. god, was he glad he came to you. you, who had the weight of eleven peoples' hatred bearing down on your psyche. yet here you are, opening your arms to hold him as he sobbed, selfless as always. and in that moment he only hoped he could make you feel as safe in his arms as he did in your's right then.

"thank you," he mumbled into your neck suddenly. atsumu wanted to say so much more than that, but he couldn't find the words. so instead, his fists clenched the back of your shirt and pulled you closer to him, hoping his actions would portray more than his words could.

"of course," you whispered back. somehow, he knew you understood.

Sleeping Beauty was something of its own if generally was a plot twist to me. I WAS SO CONFUSED ABOUT WHY YUUJI WASNT SAD AND THEN THE ENDING? LIKE FULL-ON SHOCK. It did kinda hurt my heart with readers' insecurities. This post was one of those things where I had to close Tumblr and just sit and think about it. LIKE IT WAS BIZZARE TO ME. I felt so so bad like it felt like her life was taken away just to sit on a bed all day. I also love this combo of Sakuna and Yuuji!!

Omgggg it's been ages since I got feedback on Sleeping Beauty!! Thank you so much!! It's definitely not the typical Yuuji fic, and usually, I don't like writing dark things like that, BUT it was a lot of fun to think of a way Yuuji's caring and sweet character could turn into something twisted. I felt so guilty while writing it because it goes against anything I see in Yuuji!! But on the other hand, it was super interesting to take that prompt and find a way to make it work for Yuuji. And so I came up with a version of what could happen if Yuuji got influenced by someone else and tricked into thinking he would do what's best for you. Because the things he does in that fic are still done out of love. A dark version of love, so to speak. I actually think about this story quite often. It fucks with my mind because sometimes I catch myself thinking the same things reader and Yuuji thought: Wouldn't it be nice to have no responsibilities and know that Yuuji will always be there to take care of you? Ahhhhhhhhhh it scares me!!

Lmao sorry that I talk so much about my own stories, but I am really really invested in them, and I love it when someone reaches out!! I am really happy that you decided to break the silence! <3

i jus wanna say how much i LOVED jeno's e2l fic it really really helped me get through the week as it was smth i looked forward to reading every night :( your portrayal of the characters (esp cat!! she was the funniest character,, but i was lowkey imagining her as cat from victorious and then i realised that it was quite literally your moot 💔) was so fun to read and you brought everything to life!

i also really loved the dynamic between jeno and y/n and how raw and misunderstood their emotions were 😭😭 the fight scenes were so detailed and thrilling and they kept me wondering omg what's going to happen next. you should really give yourself a big pat on the back for keeping me hooked for a whole WEEK ive never been so dedicated to a fic before oh my days 😵‍💫 OH AND ESP WHEN JAEHYUN WAS THE TRAITOR!!! i had my doubts abt him the minute cat didn't like him (she felt like such a big sis character so i trusted everything she said) but i did think for a split second that maybe sicheng was the traitor,, thank goodness he isn't that would have been so disheartening 💔💔
