now onto your question! that's some good food for thought uhhhh i can try to estimate?? its been a while but i shld have some rough ideas abt each that i can share! the time frame each comic/panel takes is highly dependent on WHAT kind of comic it is. i hv two kinds of comics I usually do: 1) full-length, and 2) goofy/4koma.

i have a few full-length comics laying about in my archive, but my most recent one/best example is Ghosts which was around uh.... 7 pages excluding the bonus panels! in terms of the process, i usually divide it into 5 stages:

Drafting: this is either the fastest stage OR the slowest depending entirely whether i know what im doing LMAO,, if i have a set idea for what i want to happen, i might get drafts done in a few hours, but if i flounder, it can take a few days 🤔

Lineart: relatively simple enough once i hv the draft down, so id say anything ranging from an hour to half a day if theres nothing else going on irl

Block colouring (main actors): there are DEFINITELY easier and more professional ways to do this with mass-selection and the lasso fill/bucket tool, but idk how to do that on SAI (my art program) so i colour everything by hand HAHA which makes the process longer.... half a day to a day?

Shading: THE WORST!!! definintely my least favourite bc i find it tedious due to all the details/prettification of elves that i am legally obliged to pour into this stage 😭😭 as a result, it can take days!!!

Background + Lighting + Final Rendering: similar to the previous stage haha it just depends on how much effort i wanna put into the final product looking nice. roughly a few days? it kind of meshes with stage 4 anyways haha

just for fun, i hope this process gif for page 6 can illustrate that 👇

these are just rough estimates, bc all in all, the time it takes so finish a page is really dependent on how free I am hahaha. Also, I usually work on full-length comics like Ghost which have more than one page all at once, which means I drafted all 7 pages at once, then did the lineart for all 7 pages at once, coloured at once, shaded rendered bla bla bla 😚 iirc, i think it took me 11 days in total to finish Ghosts before the end of June last year!

For goofy/4-koma, its usually just one page with less detailed/more cartoonish/chibi character styles so it takes a day or two days at most! again, it all boils down to how free i am hehe

What’s your favorite thing about Tangled (movie, show, or all of the above!)?☀️

there's so so much, i don't even know where to begin... i think, though, my most favorite thing about it, is how rapunzel's story and life has mirrored mine in so, so many ways. it inspired me to break free of my tower, to chase my dreams, to express myself through the things i make, and to always see the bright side of things !!! in a lot of ways, i wouldn't be where i am today without tangled and rapunzel. i think i'd still be a scared kid locked inside her awful home. i had a grand "tower escape" (a nickname for it dubbed by my husband and one of my dearest friends) when i was a young teen, to run away from a home i was never allowed to leave, with no freedom, not even to go into my own garden without someone to watch over me. there's a lot more, but i don't want to delve into the specifics of that time of my life, but whenever i felt scared, and like it would be too impossible to do... i remembered tangled, i remembered how rapunzel grew up with all the things i grew up with, too, and she managed to do it, so maybe i could, too. and it was hard. i worked for so long to escape. years of planning and working toward the goal. and i faltered at times, but tangled always pushed me through. i would watch it over and over for days, and it helped me more than i could express. so the similarities it has to my own story, that is what makes it so very special to me. <3

even when tangled the series was airing -- the struggles rapunzel faced as the episodes were airing, they always eerily mirrored what i was dealing with at the time. it's like this constant reminder that i can do it, i can do anything i set my mind to, and achieve my dreams! ^_^

it's impossible not to feel hot, even when your husband is right there. and you can't help but defend him when your husband whispers to you, asking what his deal is.

and when shuji ever so slyly slips you his business card with his phone number and his socials on the back of it? giving you the most suggestive wink, whispering a raspy "your husband tell you just how delicious you look in that dress, baby?" in your ear as he hands it to you?? he knows by the expression you wear as you look up at him, that he's stolen that poor bastard's wife right from the altar.

in fact, if he persuaded you to follow him to the venue's little bathroom, you might let him fuck you right then and there.

amazing amazing adaptation of my all time favorite musical by jonathan larson. i weep. i laugh. i sing along. i have a rent tattoo on my arm so that this musical stays with me forever.

about time (2013)

are we sending a theme here perhaps?? read: emotional movies with a deep moral meaning?? but also funny and heart wrenching and perfectly cast w perfect scores? perhaps. it’s got time travel in a way i personally don’t think has ever been done before, or will ever be done again. it’s also a romcom i guess? it’s everything is what it is. here’s a gif for good measure

it’s just magic, perfection, everything and more. also gut wrenchingly sad and bittersweet. i used to watch it every single summer. the book is also amazing

notable mentions! bc i struggled to narrow it down lmao: music and lyrics (2007) is my fave like. i guess you could say traditional romcom. i know every single line by heart it’s actually concerning, a song from that movie is actually the first song i learned on piano/the reason i learned piano; the holiday (2005) also amazing and beautiful and holidayish and hans zimmer i love you; finally: sabrina (1954) i had a major audrey hepburn phase growing up and this movie remains an all time fave (you gotta watch the 1954 version though, the remake is good but not remotely as good as the original)
