Fan Fic Humble Brag Tag
Sometimes we love something we wrote so much we want to knock on every door spreading the good word of our little story. But sometimes we fear being seen as rude or too self promoting. Here is your chance to do a bit of self promo and bragging without fear because some asked you too.
Answer the questions and then tag five writers who you think deserve to brag about their work. Tagged by the lovely @ginnyw-potter
1.) the funniest bit of dialogue you wrote
This is from Chapter 37 of Evolution. Ron is not here for Hermione's wedding planning To-Do list!
âI donât think itâs that bad,â cajoled Harry, as he read the list again. âIf we head straight to Diagon Alley now, we can get measured for the suits, pick up the invitations from the engravers, collect the confetti samples, get the travel brochures for the honeymoon, enquire about the prices for trained dovesâŚâ Harry paused and looked confused. âTrained to do what, exactly?â Ron shook his head. âGod knows. Coo the wedding march? Crap out our initials in formation? As long as I get the price list for Hermione, I really couldnât care less.â
2.) A story you wrote that made you cry
Chapter 10 of Into The Hinnyverse, my Ginniversary Bingo collection. It's called That Next Great Flighty Temptress, and I absolutely sobbed while I was writing it.
3.) A story that still makes you laugh every time you reread it or think about it
Miss, one of my Hinny Microfics, always makes me snigger. I loved writing it so much!
4.) Best moment of canon compliant characterization
From But A Shadow, chapter 8 of Into The Hinnyverse:
During the day, what haunts him the most are Ronâs words to him, just before he left. âWe thought you knew what you were doing!â  Harry remembers defending himself against the accusation, but Ron, he knows, was right. He wonders, for the thousandth time, when that thought will also occur to Hermione, because when it does, she is sure to leave him too. In his darkest moments, he imagines doing this alone. It nearly breaks him. âWe thought you had a real plan!â Ron had him bang to rights with that one too. âFind the horcruxes and destroy themâ really wasnât ever any sort of credible plan, was it? It torments Harry. If he had the first clue what he was doing, then he and Hermione wouldnât be aimlessly wandering the country, bouncing from one godforsaken spot to the next. Constantly cold. Always hungry. Perpetually damp. It is pointless, it is hopeless, and it is soul destroying.Â
5.) Something you wrote in a fic you secretly (or not so secretly) think as canon
Oh, it's such a tiny thing, and this is a tiny microfic, but I really do think Ginny spent most of her 6th year wearing Harry's scarf right under the Carrow's noses.
6.) The most romantic bit youâve written
There are a couple of chapters of Evolution that (I think) are super romantic - Chapter 29 (The Things We Do For Love) and Chapter 47 (Always) in particular, but I can't say why because: spoilers.
So, special shout out to my Hinny Microfic Rose, which is a Muggle third party perspective, and is bittersweet romantic throughout.
7.) A fic you wrote that everyone sleeps on, but you know, is excellent
I am super proud of Enigma, my entry for the Ladies of HP Fest Monthly Mini in honour of Hermione. If you've read it, you are (unfortunately!) part of a very select bunch haha.
8.) Wow us with an excellent excerpt
OK, this is from Hunted, no part of which has yet been posted - and it won't be, until it's finished, at least up until final edit stage. So there is a good change that this will be the only bit of this fic ever published, depending on how writing the rest of it goes!
âI brought you coffee, Harry, and one for you too, Dr Granger.â âOh! Thank you Jenny. Thatâs very kind.â âItâs no trouble,â smiled Jenny. âI was making one for myself anyway.â Jenny put the tray on the table and gave Potter a beaming smile before heading back to her desk. Potter watched her go, admiring her shiny, brunette hair, the way her pencil skirt curved over her backside, and the lilting sway of her hips as she walked. It wasnât until he wrenched his eyes back to Hermione that he realised that she was watching him, watching Jenny, and smirking at him knowingly. Sometimes it really irritated him how well Hermione knew him. âOh, shut up,â he muttered. He reached for his coffee to cover his embarrassment and succeeded only in burning his tongue. âFuck! Thatâs hot.â âYouâre referring to the coffee?â asked Hermione, her eyes sparkling with amusement.
9.) Five words to describe your writing
Romantic, self-indulgent, angsty, fluffy, affectionate
10.) The fic you are most proud of
Evolution. It isn't perfect, but I bloody well wrote a novel. So yeah, I'm proud of it.
Tagging: @deadwoodpecker @gryffindorhealer @starlingflight (because of the Hunted snippet!), @nena-96 @wearingaberetinparis

Leather Bomb
I read Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid last year and much like pretty much everyone else on the planet, I loved it. The concept really inspired me and I've had this piece saved to my laptop for months, so I got home today and thought, "why not post it, we'll see what people think."
This is a little taster for it, I'm not 100% on a name for the series, I just wanted to test the waters. Of course, this is a work of fiction, so it's not tied to real-life events and timelines. It's just a bit of fun.
Enjoy, like and reblog.

Warnings: None
Word count: 1.7k
Interviewer: Veronica Styles⌠thanks so much for joining us. I think I speak for everyone when I tell you how much of an honour it is for you to agree to a chat with us.
Veronica: The pleasure is all mine. You have my rider⌠Styles gives me a wink from across the coffee table between us.
Interviewer: Iâd love to go back to the beginning. Your story is so fascinatingly illusive it seems almost a crime to not delve into the origins. Youâve had an almost Priscilla Presley level of intrigue present in your life, tell me about how you dealt with that when you first met Harry.
Veronica: Well, itâs quite funny actually⌠to be here talking with you about this in this format. It definitely makes me feel old. Harry always used to say, âIâll open up about our life when Iâm old and grey and all this is a memory.â She gestures to her white hair, as curly as it was when she was in her 20s. Her husband famously said he would retire from the spotlight at 50 years old. The musician has since recently released his 30th album at the age of 72. Itâs your lucky day, darling. I suppose I can see how you would get to that comparison but it feels very strange to connect myself with Priscilla. Elvis is an icon and was a real change of pace for pop culture in the 60s. She pauses and then a cat-like smile slides itself across her face. I suppose Harry was, is, very similar. I know itâs reductive to think of him as simply a husband and a father but that is who he is to me, itâs difficult to see him as anything else. To acknowledge your question, I simply didnât deal with it. It was very much a head stuck in the sand situation for me. Harry was not an easy person to deal with in those days. Heâs mellowed out a lot now, granted heâs in his 70s and, if anything, more stubborn than ever. But you see, Harry was a package deal. To love him, was to love his lifestyle, his job, his fame, his manager, his publicist, and his fanbase. She chuckles fondly, reminiscence present on her features. We used to joke about how we were one step away from having his personal assistant in bed with usâŚÂ I dealt with that in my own way, and I suppose I have regrets when it comes to that. I was very young⌠She answers coyly and open-ended; a Styles trademark. I have a feeling I may have touched a slightly exposed nerve with my question.
Interviewer: You were 17 years old when you and Harry met. Can you remember what your first thoughts were during that meeting? People often talk about a shift when they meet significant people.
Veronica: I think I have a slightly tainted point of view on that sentiment. Itâs almostâŚÂ artificial. Because, when we met it did feel very significant because everyone was telling me how significant it was. So, while I absolutely agree that I knew Iâd met someone special, itâs because I truly had. Iâd met someone that was incredibly famous, successful and who was culturally disruptive. I suppose it wasnât until later on that I realised it was a different kind of special. A special that was going to have a personal effect on my life.
Interviewer: You couldnât possibly have known at that time that you would marry this man and have children with him. Did you have any inkling in yourself that you would even meet him again?
Veronica: I hoped that I would. I used to always laugh when reading about people who fall in love with their future partners at the first meeting because I just didnât think that was possible. Harry and I were electric, we didnât realise it at the time, but looking back it was truly a match of souls, as lovey-dovey as that sounds. When youâre young, everything feels colossal in terms of importance. Because as bad as it sounds, your world revolves around you. And, I donât know, hormones are raging and in abundance. So, your reactions to things are super-powered. I thought of nothing else after Iâd met Harry. Heâs an old man now, but you have to understand the level of sexual magnetism he held, the charisma. He was incredibly wanted and lusted after. He was everything young girls wanted and dreamed of. I was never immune to that, the usual trope is, âI liked her because she was different, she didn't fawn over meâ. Iâm not admitting that I fawned, but I didn't have the cool girl demeanour people often attach to me. I was very aware and receptive to his effect on me as a young woman. So, yeah, I was desperate to meet him again once I had. But more in the way of a teenager wanting to see her crush again; it was natural.
Interviewer: Can you remind us of that first meeting?
Veronica: Oh, gosh. Okay, so Harryâs story is always different, to be honest, I donât think he even remembers fully because parts of it change every time he tells it. I laugh as she rolls her eyes. All I know is he took a liking to me when we first met, but he didn't make much of an effort to follow up on that. At that point, women were queuing up to offer him anything he wanted, and he didn't have time to pursue someone he didn't know or who wasnât game for it, if you know what I mean. His time was taken up, let's just say that. So, anyway, we met at an arena; my friend and I had signed up for agency work at a hospitality company and weâd been sent out to Manchester International Arena, and they were hosting the Brits there. So, weâd been put on VIP drinks service, Harry at that time, was not at VIP level, heâd get there eventually as we know. But it was an odd time because he was very famous and beloved within his fanbase, but the general public were taking time to, kind of, catch up to that. But his friend, Ed Sheeran, was enjoying the VIP experience and took Harry as a sort of unofficial plus one, I say unofficial but he was never kicked out so I donât think anyone had a problem with him being there. I was working the bar and I saw him standing around a tall table, chatting and laughing. But he has this nervous tick, where he scratches the back of his neck and when he had long hair heâd toss it all forward, ruffle it up and then flick his head, kind of, off to the side and smooth it through his fingers. He did that A LOT. And I remember thinking, âthis guy is gonna get a crick in his neck if he does that anymore tonightâ. But he did, and each time he did it heâd glance around him and then try to look interested in the conversation he was supposed to be having. I only learned this was a nervous tick when I noticed his hands were shaking. And I mean, shaking. Anyway, I think I must have watched him do that about seven times before he looked around and caught my eyes. I was very shy so I looked away immediately, I was so embarrassed but I couldnât help but glance back and I saw him still looking with a smirk on his face. But he also had this quizzical look in his eyes. I always say to him, you looked at me like I was a crossword and you just couldnât wait to get the last clue to complete it. Very whimsical of me, I know. She laughs again and fiddles with the ends of her hair, shaking her head thoughtfully. She hasnât made much eye contact with me by this time, choosing to glance just past me.  He didn't speak to me until the very end of the VIP service. He came up and asked for my name. I told him and he drew it out long in his accent, but not like my accent, I knew immediately he was from Cheshire. Itâs like a posh version of a proper northerner, he hates when I say that, so definitely put that in. I bet you canât believe how much I remember. Itâs sad, isnât it?
Interviewer: Absolutely not, this is gold. I donât suppose you remember what he said to you?
Veronica: Not completely. Probably something smug âcause heâs a cocky git when he wants to be. She properly laughs. I just know that I felt warmth when he was close. He was very attentive and very easy to talk to⌠but very hard to actually draw anything significant from, you probably remember that from his interviews. Before he left he decided to down his drink, not very impressively, and he stared at me while he did it. He slammed his glass down on the bar, gave me a nod and then he was gone.
Interviewer: Okay, so you meet Harry at 17. Then most people will be shocked to hear that you didn't meet him again until much later, is that accurate?
Veronica: Yes, a lot of people think that we are somewhat childhood sweethearts. It was nice at the time for people to believe that. Harry doesnât like to talk about relationships at all in the public sphere, thatâs why Iâve never actually spoken much to the media before now. We didn't start actually seeing each other romantically until I was about⌠23, I think? So, he was 25, heâd left his band and gone out on his own. Height of fame and success, he was seeing Camille Rowe, yeah⌠all that good stuff. She seems uneasy again but shakes it off with a smile in my direction. Iâd just completed my degree and I was training as a nurse. So⌠She pauses for a long time, almost a minute, staring and thinking. This is a story that I donât think anyone has heard before⌠itâs going to be odd telling it. All Iâll say to preface it is that it is and was a real source of emotional turmoil for everyone involved. I nod and try to ensure her that as a journalist, I personally cannot in good conscience take on a story that she doesnât want to tell. She reassures me. Iâm not getting any younger, itâll be somewhat... freeing to finally open up about it.
Let me know what you think!

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thank you for the tags @theresthesnitch & @annabtg. I'm finally sitting at my laptop so I can do this (and have given up with the formatting being all over the shop).
How many works do you have on AO3? 72 total, but 31 are currently hidden away in a private collection and can't be seen.
2. What's your total A03 words count?
According to the stats page 308,146 3. What fandoms do you write for?
Just HP 4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? A.) Brown Boots & Breakfast Bagels Rated M, jily AU. Complete Multichapter. Lilyâs love life was a tragedy of epic proportions and she had no brilliant strategy. But a chance encounter ends in a one night stand that blows her mind and leaves her wanting more. Thereâs just one problem⌠she doesnât even know his name.
B.) One More Sleep (currently hidden) Rated G, Sirius raising harry oneshot. Three year old Harry Potter is very eager to stay awake and catch Santa Claus delivering him presents.
C.) Call Me By Name Rated E, Jily AU. WIP Multichapter. After a not-so-great breakup with a not-so-great boyfriend, Lily comes to the conclusion that if you want something done right you have to do it yourself. Whether mechanically, hydraulically, or auditorily? She WILL find the key to that currently unreachable pleasure.
D.) Evans Guide To Quidditch (and seducing James Potter) Rated M, Hogwarts Jily, oneshot. It had all started out innocently enough, a small wager between housemates on the outcome of the Arrows Vs Catapults game over the weekend. Lily hadn't intended to let slip she knew more about quidditch than she was letting on. Or to set up a fantasy quidditch league with James, but well... what's the harm?
E.) Stripped Back To Basics Rated M, Jily AU, oneshot collab with @athenasparrow In which Petunia probably regrets telling Lily to "put herself out there." Or: A Jily "Naked Attraction" AU (YES NAKED ATTRACTION IS A REAL SHOW!!!)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I used to respond to some comments, but these days I try to respond to everyone who comments even if it's just an emoji as a like "hi yes thank you for your comment I see you I just don't know what to say!"
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angtiest ending? I don't know if I've ever written an angst ending... nothing springs to mind anyway. 7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I think most of my fics end up with happy endings or at the very least open hopeful endings.
8. Do you get hate on fics? I wouldn't call it hate... but I did once get a couple of people debating in my comment section that Lily couldn't be friends with Sirius before dating James because it would be "taking away from jily's relationship"
9. Do you write smut. If so what kind? I don't really understand the second half of the question, but yes I do write smut.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? Nope
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I don't know if stolen is the right term, but there was a period years ago where some on my one-shots kept being posted on Instagram. Sometimes with credit, others not. 12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Not that I'm aware of.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before? Yes! and I would love to do it again. I did Stripped Back to Basics with @athenasparrow and june jilychallenge Ice Breaker with @jamesunderwater
14. What's your all-time favourite ship? This will surprise no one, jily. 15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? Previously I would have said the fic I started over a decade ago... but I am actively trying to finish it and it is one of my publishing WIPs (we're gonna ignore the fact it's in desperate need of an update). It is currently publishing under a new name tho: Wake Me Up (When September Ends)
16. What are your writing strengths? I manage to sprinkle a little humour into most of my fics.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Sticking to an update schedule... even though I always start with the best of intentions.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I don't think I've ever done it but I can barely English to be fair. I don't mind it in other peoples fics.
19. First fandom you wrote for? HP
20. Favourite fic you've ever written? I answered this as Stripped Back To Basics yesterday... I'm struggling to like my writing at the moment. But I enjoyed this first ever collaborative project and now Athena is a much beloved friend. tagging (and apologising if you've already been tagged): @merlins-sequined-hotpants, @uncertainwallflower, @practicecourts, @abihastastybeans

Getting to know teacher!eddie from Notes on a Scene
Thanks to @myosotisa @jo-harrington and @deathbecomesthem for kicking off this brilliant idea and to @br0ck-eddie for tagging me!
Here's the original post with the questions, if you feel so inclined!
What story is he from? What kind of story is it (Fix-it fic, Older!Eddie, Rockstar!Eddie etc)?
teacher!AU inspired by my steve series the kids aren't alright; it's a quasi-coming of age story, in that, eddie grapples with being an adult (which, like, don't we fucking all?). New Girl vibes, for sure cut with some miscommunication and chaos because i am nothing if not predictable.
What inspired you to write this Eddie?
he was a secondary character in TKAA and i loved him so much that i thought he deserved his own story.
What are your favorite headcanons about him/share something you never shared in your story?
omgomg okay. eddie stays pretty firmly in his wheelhouse with films, he knows what he likes and what's comfortable - not a huge risk taker in that regard. but reader is a bonafide film teacher and sets out to educate him on the finer points of cult classics and horror. and he's down for it, especially since most of the time when the credits roll he's either balls deep or on his way there. BUT THEN. they watch Bladerunner 2049 and eddie has the gall to FALL ASLEEP!!! jail, jail for a thousand years! reader is shocked and dismayed, denis villeneuve did not go through all that effort for eddie to pass the fuck out because "the score was really soothing," or "nothing happened for the first hour." (he's so like me fr)
What does he wear on a casual day? On a dressier day? What does he wear to bed?
so, while there is a dress code for faculty at school... eddie, predictably, does whatever he wants. mostly jeans and a band tee for day-to-day shenanigans, liiiiike chasing band kids who can't stay in formation on the field or whatever. keeps a jacket in his office because the one time he didn't he was forced to borrow steve's letterman jacket and all the kids asked when the wedding would be.
dressier fare involves whichever jeans are the cleanest, maybe a flannel over the band tee and his leather jacket.
to bed? absolutely nothing. and yes, it will bite him in the ass.
Favorite foods?
a simple man of simple pleasures, he's not picky. pizza, burgers, the works. he does have a tendency to pop tums like they're candy though. hasn't quite worked out the correlation between what he eats and why he feels like shit after the fact. like i said, growing pains.
Tell Us About His Family/Friends
his bff is Trouble from TKAA and steve by proxy. robin'll do in a pinch if the lovebirds are too busy sucking face. but the ace up his sleeve is always wheels aka nancy byers.
and ofc wayne. he keeps trying to tell the old man to retire but he's even more stubborn than eddie is. they have dinner once a week and go fishing in the summer. well, wayne fishes and eddie tries not to fall out of the boat.
Yeah Yeah, heâs a Metalhead. Tell Us MORE About His Taste in Music in your story
he's around teenagers being a teacher and all. so he's pretty varied in his tastes now and remembers being their age and thinking his discovery of metallica or dio was the defining moment of his life and he's not about to yuck their yum. mostly he's exposed to tiktok samples from the band or hellfire kids, and then whatever the fuck is playing at the loft. generally a highly specific playlist or top 40 depending on whose home at the time.
What are his views on romance? On sex?
fun fact: eddie is a HUGE romantic. like, will watch when harry met sally by himself after a shit day and cry. that being said, the college to career pipeline hasn't afforded him many opportunities to show that side of himself. he hasn't had a "real" relationship in a minute, mostly just quick meaningless fucks to keep him sated. so, while he is a romantic, eddie has pretty much separated sex from that equation in this story. consciously or not, he's looking for a deeper connection, a spark that can be fanned into a flame.
Is he optimistic or pessimistic?
he's a realist. working with teenagers helps because they're always there to knock you down a peg and deflate your ego. but he also sees and hears some shit from the kids that breaks his heart.
Where or with whom is he most comfortable?
places he's comfortable would be his office, the loft, reader's house, the hideout, and the soundbooth just off of reader's classroom.
the people he's comfortable with would be the gang (steve, trouble, robin, vickie, jon, nancy, argyle), wayne, and the band or hellfire kids. hop's a mixed bag because he's eddie's boss and the former chief of police - depends on the day and if he needs a favor.
What are his views of his future? What are his hopes/dreams?
hmmm. he definitely wants connection what with everyone around him coupling up and settling down now. he could go either way with teaching? yeah, everyone says it's a calling and yadda yadda and he loves the kids (well, some of them), but if something better came along he wouldn't feel obligated to stay in hawkins.
as far as hopes and dreams go... he wants wayne to retire, and, ideally, let eddie help out with some things like bills or whatever. he's open to the possibility of settling down with the right person. and he really wants to get a dog or something. (watch him end up with an axolotl)
Optional Vulnerable Question: Why do you write fics for Eddie Munson?
because he deserves better. he deserves to be happy and catch a fuckin' break for once.

I don't support LGBTQ+. This is a bit of a complicated topic but let me explain: I am not an LGBTQ+ person but when it comes to LGBTQ+ characters in games I like like Undertale and Deltarune, if I have a headcanon or something similar about them, I unintentionally seem to support LGBTQ+ when describing their orientation. And I may occasionally make LGBTQ+ jokes. But I still have respect for LGBTQ+. (If you are uncomfortable with this text, it will be deleted or shortened.

-To be continued-
What is your Undertale AU about?
- I just made some changes to the concept and story. Monoctale or Undermonoc; as the name suggests, is an AU where each character has a monochrome version of themselves, meaning a single color (black-white-shades of gray). Each character's monochrome version reflects differently in reality; a psychological distress experienced by the character can create their monochrome version, or a rare power deep within their souls can cause them to exist semi-physically, for example.
For example, the formation of the monochrome versions of some characters: Asgore: Asgore is a character with Multiple Personality Disorder in this AU. The way we separate him from the monochrome version is; We divide his name into two as "As-" and "-Gore". "As" is Asgore himself, the first and only personality that should exist in the body. "Gore" is Asgore's monochrome, aka his much more cruel version. Thanks to "Gore", Asgore was able to dare to take the lives of those little children. Making the barrier like this was actually "Gore"'s idea and "As" couldn't stop him and allowed him to carry out this cruel plan. At least the same thing didn't happen with Frisk. While "Gore" had killed other humans brutally, when Asgore was going to fight Frisk, "As" was in control and since he wanted Frisk to win, he fought in a way that Frisk could defeat him without using his real power, just like in the game.
Do you also have a Gravity Falls AU?
- Yes, but it was cancelled after Book Of Bill came out.
I got tired here, I'll add more as things come to mind.

Iâd love to believe these but honestly theyâre always the same kind of format. Anon implies theyâre not a Larry so knew nothing previously of the Lou/Harry situation (mmmm); mention of them touching (or kissing) in the room (I highly doubt it!); Louis being loud (well I can believe that! But everyone knows that about Lou so itâs not necessarily proof); how Harry smells; mention of Louis being hotâŚitâs always the same. Like these receipts creators know what Larries want to read/hear and play into it.
Itâs a bit cruel if you ask me. Iâd love if it were true but I think theyâre playing with the fandom.
Hello team!! Thank you for ur sweet messages xx I know I have been super busy and practically MIA for a hot second but regarding this, lookâŚI did a post not too long ago about how everyone waves off receipts as fake. Listen, this day and age, the majority are. It was bad back in the day but now itâs even worse. So yes, a lot of the receipts we are getting are poorly faked/too good to be true/no proof and⌠thatâs the way it is.
So, itâs easy to disregard receipts as fake. Itâs very blindingly obvious when they are, and there were certain elements of that one that Iâd use as evidence of it being fake, but the thing is⌠we just donât fucking know. Right? We just donât know without blatant proof which is so difficult in Larryâs case without someone losing their job/getting in MAJOR trouble.
Proof is essentially only if there is a photo/video that we can prove is NOT edited (or AI, which has made this increasingly more difficult from 10 years ago) and is clear and certain. Which just⌠exists, people do have this knowledge and these photos and stuff, but they donât circulate for a multitude of reasons. So, anyway, we get nothing but words.
And like, I get it. Anyone can write an anon. Anyone can just type out something that seems vaguely realistic but reaches a bit into the fanfic world. Itâs easy. However, itâs very hard to tell the real from the fake. And at the moment, the real is along the lines of receipts that arenât super detailed, over the top, or just plain weird, and the ones we take as real are the more low key ones because it doesnât make as much sense to fake a lowkey receipt, right?
Anyway, the euro one seemed kinda legit for me, but then after I reassessed, it didnât seem as real. But, like, who knows? Some of the shit said in these receipts could be genuine but itâs disregarded because itâs seen as too over the top or whatever. But tumblr will always be a minefield for them, because of the anon feature.
So, take what you will, with a grain of salt. Itâs getting increasingly harder these days to confirm receipts with less and less content of the two of them, and a bigger anti/solo fandom looking to stir the pot, and easier ways to edit things and it just⌠is what it is. I tend to reblog it so we can discuss, and if itâs not real and we verify that then itâs not real. But there are many that are that float around so I think, with caution and several grains of salt, do read them and make up your mind.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thank you for the tag @wroteclassicaly somehow I missed this Iâm sorry!
1) How many works do you have on AO3? 3, because I do everything off of my phone and I cannot get the damn format to work so the lovely Jo is helping me upload.
2) What's your total AO3 word count? Roughly 40k. I donât write long stuff I guess.
3) What fandoms do you write for? Stranger Things. I used to have a bunch of MCR bandfic on a livejournal and some HP stuff on fanfiction . net but youâll never see any of those because Iâm sure theyâre nuked off the planet now.
4) What are your top five fics by kudos? Iâve only got the three, so.
5) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I need to get back in the swing of that, but for AO3 specifically I havenât responded yet but the intention is there so donât yell at me.
6) What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Sleepovers in the Forest đđŤ
7) What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I donât actually have any finished multi chapter fics unfortunately so really any of the things Iâve written because I like a happy ending.
8) Do you get hate on fics? I have but I donât post those asks because I donât feel like entertaining troglodytes.
9) Do you write smut? If so, what kinds? Itâs my bread and butter actually. Iâll write most anything but I like the gross stuff.
10) Do you wrote crossovers? If so, what's the craziest one you've written? I love a good AU but I uh god damn I hate crossovers.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen? Donât think so.
12) Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope!
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before? No but @dr-aculaaa @fracturedarkness @jo-harrington @pastel-pillows have all helped me in multiple ways with my Gator Tillman series so. Kind of!
14) What's your all time favorite ship? Youâre asking me this and Iâve forgotten every piece of media Iâve ever seen.
15) What's a WIP that you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? If I said my river monster Eddie I would be lying a little and also I would be killed soâŚprobably the Eddie-Steve-Reader triangle where theyâre all trying to hit on Karen Wheeler and itâs narrated through Mike and Dustinâs eyes. Itâs really good in my head tho.
16) What are your writing strengths? Dialogue.
17) What are your writing weaknesses? I AM THE COMMA QUEEN. Also Iâm a terrible speller. Grammar in general. Iâm not real good with technical things, I write how I speak unfortunately.
18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I think if it serves a purpose sure. Iâd be leaving footnotes everywhere for translations.
19) First fandom you wrote for? Harry Potter.
20) Favorite fic you've written? Pure Academia and Shared Inflicted Pain. Iâm immensely proud of those and also I just really love going back and reading them. I was on some good shit there, donât know where that went.

Entertainment Spotlight: Kelley Mack
Kelley Mack is an actress & voice over artist who was born in Cincinnati, OH to a businessman and a real estate agent. Some of her latest projects include AMCâs The Walking Dead, Fox's 9-1-1 and the Chicago thriller feature Broadcast Signal Intrusion, currently in post production. She did voice over work for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and for Credit Karma's recent commercial campaign. She has played tennis & piano since a young age, enjoys consuming dark chocolate & whiskey, and loves annoying her two younger siblings.
Do you think that you would get along with Alice Michaels?
Totally, for the most part! We are really similar in the way that I have a pretty wry sense of humor, I'm protective of my brother, I'm athletic, and I love food. I would consider myself strong, but might get jealous that she's definitely stronger than I am, haha. I'd probably end up connecting with Alice by sneaking in a good chat about our emotions while tossing around a football, though she might disassociate herself with me after learning I'm not a Harry Potter nerd myself...
Which character that youâve played in the past do you think would most benefit from a session with Dr. Bright?
I played an army vet who was placed in a government facility where they erased her PTSD-inducing memories so she could be sent back to war (very similar to the show Homecoming on Hulu). It was a mini series called Coventry. So yeah, that character could benefit from a session - she has lotssss of issues to work through.
Was this your first podcast role? Do you want to keep exploring the format?
Yes, it was! And absolutely. It's such a thrill and I love how this production has allowed for performance with the other actors in real time. Most of the voice over work I've done in the past has been solo, and it's not nearly as enjoyable as working with and bouncing off others.
Do you have any secret skills or talents?
I don't know how much of a talent it is since I find that many more people can do this than I expected, but I can do a creepy The Grudge type voice. My family calls it "cigarette lady" or "old smoker woman."
If you were to make a podcast or show about your time spent in quarantine, what would it be called?
Driving Across the Country During a Pandemic
Can you tell us a fun fact about the making of The AM Archives that fans would be surprised to find out?
Lauren Shippen wrote an awesome show bible for The AM Archives that outlined the universe, history of The Order, the employees, patients, etc. and that was so fun to read. I love detailed backstory information like that - it helps to dive into character and also explore the mind of the creator who's so passionate about the world they've built. It's so creatively inspiring!
Can you share your favorite piece of fan art?
Love this one [by @galaxiuu] because Alice looks like a total BA who's just armed with snarky comments. And she's also eyeing the candy bar, which I relate to deeply. Lol.
Thanks for taking the time Kelley! Give The Grand Tour a relisten right here.

Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy) - Headcanon
Pairing: Draco x Reader
Hi nonnie!! Iâm sorry it took me a while to get to this. Besides being occupied with schoolwork, I thoroughly had to think about how Draco would be as a father. I hope you enjoy!! Itâs a lil long too aha.
PS. Kudos to you if you know where the title comes from aha
When Draco found out you were pregnant, there was no containment to the pure joy he had felt in the moment
Tears of joy brimmed his eyes
Crushing embraces
Playful kisses transitioned to more passionate ones as he poured out his love for you
Despite the years following the end of the war, he still didnât feel deserving of you
Furthermore, he didnât feel deserving of parenting a child with you
But one thing he was certain of was that he didnât want to be anything like his father.
The very thought chilled him and struck fear to his bones
âDraco, youâll make a great fatherâ you say constantly. Each time you do so wrapping him in a warm embrace
It surprised you seeing him cry for the first time as he cradled your growing bump
âDo you think he can hear me?â Heâd ask
You nodding as you wiped the tears rolling down his face
âI donât want him to grow up like I did.â
âLove, we wouldnât be here if you didnât go through any of it.â
More silent tears and kisses to your bump
âIâll do my best for you and your mother, I promise.â
Him kissing your bump one last time
âWeâll do our best for each otherâ you reassure
-đą-Â
Thereâs no end to him showing you how much he loves you.
The morning sickness, weird cravings, the aches and painsâthis man spoiled you and made sure you were comfortable as much as possible
Happy wife = happy life
You both taking turns to tell the baby in your womb stories
Draco playing the piano with you and the baby by his side
Youâd be cuddling as you both thought of names
Him opting to follow Black tradition and use names from constellations
âIf itâs a girl, it should be Maia Altair. Both are the brightest stars within their respective constellations.â He said.
âHow about Lyra Celeste?â
âThatâs pretty too. Goodness, I hope itâs not a girl. Weâd have a hard time choosing.â He says jokingly, making you chuckle.
âHow about for a boy?â You ask
âI was thinking along the lines of Scorpius... I canât seem to think up of a middle nameâ
âHow about Hyperion?â
âScorpius Hyperion?â His eyes widened for a moment, âThatâs perfect.â
He didnât mind whether youâd give birth to a boy or a girlâhe wanted to give his children the best whether thatâd be values, or material possessions
-đą-
Being a private family meant a gender reveal and baby shower with just the two of you.
You hand the photo of the ultrasound to him faced down
âWeâre having a boy, Draco.â
Hearts pounding.
Smiles wide
Dracoâs sight was transfixed on the small formation printed on the page for a bit before looking at you again
The moment reminded you of the first time you said âI love youâ to one another
He presses a tender loving kiss to your lips as you wrap your arms around his torso.
The next couple of months pass quickly
Life is still happy coz wife is still happy
Thereâs look comprising fear and awe when Draco laid his eyes on the newborn baby boy in your arms
âMay I hold him?â
You hand Scorpius to him with tears in your eyes
Scorpius being so small that he doesnât even occupy half of Dracoâs forearm
âWelcome Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy, my sonâ He says softly, tears following soon after yours did
-đą-
Raising Scorpius was similar to walking on a tightrope, but even if you both fell at times, it was never hard enough to keep you down
He was a sweet boy, an obedient son
He took after Dracoâs appearance: platinum hair, pointed face, and he sported a warm pair of grey eyes
But he bore your kind and compassionate personality, which Draco adored
Regardless of how much of your personality he inherited, Scorpius still had his fatherâs attitude sometimes, much to your amusement and shock
Draco spoiling him throughout his youth
You dressing Scorpius up
Both of you teaching the boy human decency towards witches, wizards, and muggles alike
One thing Draco made certain as a father was to make sure that Scorpius knew he was welcome to talk to his parents about anything
While youâd speak of matters of the heart, Draco would do his best to speak on matters of logic and reasoning
No matter what, you did your very best to make known to the young Malfoy that he was loved.
-đą-
Time spent together as a family occupied the best memories of your lives
While Scorpius was growing and learning new things, you and Draco were learning (and growing) alongside him
When he was five years old, having finished his daily lessons, he walked amongst the vast halls of the mansion, knowing exactly where his parents would be
First checks the library to find Draco focused in his study
âPapa?â He calls out with a small voice
âYes Scorp? Have you finished your studies for today?â
âYes, father. May I sit with you?â
That was the day that Draco introduced his own passions to his son.
The little boy on his lap looks at the book in front of him with awe as Draco tells him stories of constellations and alchemy
âThatâs how we named you.â
âMy name is Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy!â The sound of pride ringing from his little voice strikes a chord in Dracoâs heart
He kisses the top of his head
âYes, weâre are Malfoyâsâ
âAnd mama?â
âMama, is Y/N Y/M/N Malfoy.â He says with his heart fluttering.
The sound of your name never fails to reduce his insides to mush.
He then removes himself to find you painting the white peacocks that scattered the lawn
âMama, what are you doing?â
âIâm painting love. Do you want to see?â You kiss his cheek as you gather him into your arms to give him a view of your work
âI want to learn how to do that!âÂ
âAnd what is it would you like to paint first?â
âThe skies in papaâs books!â
-đą-
As much as possible, you hid small arguments and issues from Scorpius
You and Draco had established three rules when confronting road bumps in your marriage:
Communicate needs and feelings
Give one another space when needed
Never go to bed with issues unresolved
The openness you taught your son, would be put into practice between you both
Fortunately, you being with Draco for more than ten years meant that youâve practically seen him at his lowest points
He learned how to be vulnerable to you, and was your shoulder to cry on when needed
Nevertheless, each issue was resolved with a kiss, and something a little more *wink wink* (Scorpius would already be in bed dw)
Draco would catch himself staring at you in the kitchen one day, feeling the same way he would when heâd stare at you in your potions class
The smile you give when you notice him never changed
Scorpius taking note of this calls his dad out
âPapa, why do you love mama?âÂ
âSheâs my best friend, Scorpius.âÂ
âI love mama too!â
You were the rock to your little family of three, and the older man would wonder how he became so lucky every time he thought about it.
-đą-
Time flew by real fast in the manor. Before you know it, Scorpius turned eleven, and received his letter to Hogwarts
Robes? Check
Books? Check
Quills? Parchment? Check
Cauldron and other items? Check
Excited and nervous Scorpius Malfoy? Check.
âPapa, mama, what if no one likes me?â
Draco takes the first and last say before you can even open your mouth
âJust be yourself Scorp, and youâll be fine.â
The platform bustling with sounds of old and new students alike
You see the Potterâs and the Weasleyâs from afar and give a small wave
Draco, acting like a git, only gives a nod when you nudge his side with your elbow
Scorpius is the first to move away from his fatherâs side to introduce himselfÂ
âHi! Iâm Scorpius Malfoy!â He says with a toothy grin
Albusâs eyes sparkle at a new friend, âIâm Albus Potter! This is Rose Weasley! Weâre both first years!â
âMe too! Can I sit with you on the train?â
The exchange throws both Harry and Draco into a spiral, leaving you, Ginny, and Hermione thoroughly amused for the day.
âAlbus- heâ,Â
âS-Scor-â
Both fathers are ignored.
But the happy grins they see on their sons faces calms them down slightly
The time comes for the train to take off
Draco wraps his arms around you as you wipe the tears formingÂ
It was a miracle that the little boy grew up to be a kind, intelligent, and talented young man.Â
In that moment, Draco has never felt so grateful for his family
I apologize for the length. Itâs kinda chaotic, but I hope you enjoyed reading it hehe. Thank you so much for all your support!

ego | jjk | harry potter au
âĽÂ pairing: gryffindor jeongukk x hufflepuff reader
âĽÂ genre: harry potter AU, smut, fluff, angst
âĽÂ summary: in which jeongguk is a cocky lil shit and the reader has to take him down a few pegsÂ
âĽÂ warnings: 18+, dirty talk, light smut, cursing
Š luxekook. please do not repost, modify, edit or translate.
The wind whirled around me as I careened towards the glistening goal posts, imagining the opposing teamâs Keeper darting back and forth in hopes of blocking the Quaffle that was currently tucked under my arm. I feigned left and the imaginary keeper followed suit. I threw right â Quaffle sailing through the rightmost gold hoop.
I smiled and dove down past the posts to catch up with my own throw. Even though it was still the first week of the new term, I was determined to prove my newly acquired captain-status. Hufflepuff hadnât had a female captain in ages; and, paired with that, I was only a 6th year.
Luckily, I had a strong team behind me with mostly returning players who I knew would fiercely support me. Us Puffs stuck together. It was inherently in our blood to be loyal as hell to our own, and I thanked Merlin for that every day since receiving the captainâs badge.
As soon as I had hopped on the Hogwartsâ Express a few days prior, I had immediately been swept up in a giant bear hug by Jeong Yunho, one of the Hufflepuff beaters.
âOh, captain! My captain!â he had dramatically cried, spinning me around. His Dead Poetâs Society reference was not lost on me since I had a muggle parent with excellent taste in movies. Similar reactions from the rest of the team followed suit over the course of the train ride and the Welcoming Feast.
Trials for our only open position of Seeker would take place this weekend with practices immediately starting Monday. We had high hopes for redemption this season after being crushed by Slytherinâs team of goons early on in the Cup tournament.
The Slytherin teamâs head hooligan Kang Dokyun led his team with a nasty blend of intimidation and violent tactics. I was convinced that Slytherin didnât even hold trials and that they just lined up the Slytherin boys, picking out the biggest of the lot. Basically, Slytherin was strong, but slow and slightly uncoordinated. We could beat them by exploiting their weaknesses â of that I was certain.
Ravenclaw would be a bit harder to conquer. Their team played with a level of elegance and intelligence that was so utterly Ravenclaw that even us Puffs got annoyed. Ravenclawâs captain Yoon Jisoo constructed tactical plays so tricky that she was already recruited to play for Puddlemore next year. Their team was smart, but not completely unbeatable. The Ravenclaws sometimes got so ingrained in their methodical maneuvers that they failed to notice some of their opponentsâ counterattacks. That was how they lost the Cup last term to Gryffindor.
Gryffindor was our toughest competition. Winning the Cup last term, the Gryffindor team was a nauseatingly perfect balance between brains and brawn. Their captain Jeon Jeongguk, now a 7th year, was renowned for his tyrannical practice regime that he put his team through. Weâd only played Gryffindor once in the regular season last year, and we had held our own for a while until we started getting tired and they didnât. Seems like Jeongguk knew his shit when it came to conditioning. Something that I was determined to emulate with my own team.
Jeongguk was also the best damn Keeper that Hogwarts had seen in a long time, a fact that didnât go unnoticed by the looks of the professional Quidditch scouts that avidly attended his matches. He was way bigger than a typical Keeper â extremely tall with broad shoulders and giant paws for hands. However, the only thing bigger than his stature and talent was his fucking ego.
He carried himself like he was the king of the school, and, unfortunately, most people treated him like it. Girls especially flocked to him â mainly for two reasons: 1) Jeongguk was undoubtedly hot, and 2) he held the promise of a rich future. Personally, I cared for neither of those traits considering his appalling personality and pride.
That damned ego would be his downfall this season. I would make sure of it, I thought as I circled around the stadium and then landed to get a drink.
I was definitely above average on the Quidditch talent scale. Holding the current school record for most assists in a season, I considered myself the glue of the Hufflepuff team â a fact that our Head of House obviously agreed with. However, no one really talked about the glue of a team, they talked about the flashy glitter and the gold stars. I was fine with that. Being the underdog was nothing new to a Hufflepuff, and I planned on using that to our advantage this season. Who said Puffs couldnât be a little devious?
I smirked to myself as I grabbed my broom, ready to get back to practicing. This would be our fucking year.
âHey,â a deceptively sweet voice rang out from above me, âYou mind sharing the pitch? I need to practice.â
My mood soured. I knew who that was. Kicking off the ground, I flew to face him, âSure thing, Jeon, just stay out of my way.â
It was almost as if Iâd slapped him across the face, âExcuse me?â he choked out, âDo I know you?â
Unbelievable. Jeonggukâs head was evidently so far up his own ass he couldnât recognize opponents heâd been playing for years. âI guess not,â I countered. And with a flick of my ponytail, I took off towards the opposite end of the pitch.
Unfortunately, he followed, âAre you a Gryffindor? If so, you should come to tryouts tomorrow. Youâre pretty fast and we need a new Chaser.â
âNot a Gryffindor,â I called out, dipping low to the ground to scoop up my old practice Quaffle, âBut I am a Chaser.â
Jeongguk was still tailing me, and I pulled to a stop to face him, âI thought you had to practice?â
He mirrored my position and crossed his arms. I tried (and failed) to stop myself from noticing how his biceps flexed and how a hint of his famed phoenix tattoo curled up his neck. Merlin, even I couldnât deny he was hot as fuck. The recent summer months seemed to have blessed his skin with a glowing tan that accentuated the warmth of his dark eyes. It also seemed like he forgot what a haircut was as I watched the wind tousle his slightly curling hair.
âI do,â his eyes were narrowed as he cleared his throat, âI just have to make sure youâre not spying for another team.â
All thoughts of him being fine flew out the Owlery as I scowled. I refused to be intimidated by some arrogant asshole, âDid you not hear me when I said to stay on the opposite end of the pitch, Jeon? What kind of self-respecting spy would ask that?â
âYouâre a Slytherin,â Jeongguk declared, his tone too sure for my liking.
He was really aggravating me now, and it took a lot for a Puff to get pissed off, âSo, just because I have a semblance of a backbone, Iâm a Slytherin? You need to brush up on your House knowledge.â
He was quiet, his expression contemplative, his jaw clenched. His eyes were scanning me with an intensity I was not sure I liked. And then he did something I liked even less: âI propose a game,â his mouth twisted upwards in a smirk, âYou say youâre a Chaser?â
I gave a slight tilt of my chin in affirmation. He resumed, âWell, then you must know Iâm a Keeper.â He paused, grinning wickedly, waiting for me to react to the double entendre. Eyebrows raised at my pointed silence, he continued, âAnd we both need to practice⌠So how âbout you try to score on me and for every shot I block you have to answer one of my questions.â
This motherfucker right here. I summoned my inner Helga to give me the strength to deal with this Gryffindor prick, âSay I was to agree to this, what would I get if I score on you?â
The laugh I got in response made all thoughts of remaining a kind and patient Puff evaporate faster than a weak Patronus.
He was still laughing when he noticed I looked ready to Avada him wandless, âOkay, okay. What do you want if you score?â He barely got the words out in between chuckles.
âTo come to a Gryffindor practice.â
That shut him up real fast, âNo fucking way. I donât need you distracting my players.â
My nose crinkled, âDistracting? I would just be sitting in the stands, you prick.â
His jaw ticked as he rolled his eyes, âYou could be on the furthest corner of the pitch and youâd still distract them, jagi.â
âDonât call me that. And, pray tell, why I would distract them?â Our brooms were now practically touching as we had instinctively moved closer to one another. I could see the sweat glistening on his brow and the shadow of stubble on his jaw. Merlin, he was potent.
âBecause,â Jeongguk paused, acting like this was the most obvious answer in the world, âYouâre hot.â
I blinked. And blinked again, âAre you serious?â He opened his mouth to respond. âNope, donât answer that, Jeon,â I brushed right over his attempt to answer my rhetorical question, âSo, do we have a deal or not? If youâre the esteemed Keeper that you clearly think you are, it shouldnât be a problem for you to block all my shots, should it?â
My words echoed around us. He looked conflicted, but I knew his ego would not let my challenge go, âDeal. Five shots from the penalty mark.â
He flew towards the goal posts, âLooking forward to getting my questions answered, love,â he bellowed back at me.
I mentally flipped him off as I took off after him, clutching my Quaffle.
Sending out a plea to Merlin, Helga and everyone in between, I pulled to a stop at the penalty mark and pondered how I wanted to play this. He obviously thought he would save all five attempts. I spared him a glance and glower as I notice he was slouching on his broom with a lazy smirk, clearly not taking me as a serious threat.
Fine, I would just have to hustle him. He was asking for it at this point.
I got into formation. As much as it would pain me to mess up this shot on purpose, I knew that I had to in order to make my plan work.
Taking off towards the posts, my movement caused Jeongguk to finally move into a somewhat defensive position. I feigned right, doing so in a way too obvious manner. Hurling the Quaffle towards the top hoop, I watched expectantly as he deflected it with just a slight flick of his hand.
âCome on,â Jeongguk laughed, âYou can do better than that, jagi.â He flew over to me and when I stretched to take back the Quaffle he now held in his hand, he shifted it out of reach, âUh-uh, nope. Itâs question time. Whatâs your name?â
How predictable. âItâs (y/n). Now give me the Quaffle.â
âLast name?â Jeongguk kept the Quaffle out of my hands.
âThatâs a separate question, Jeon. You never specified that I give you my full name.â It was my turn to smirk as he threw the Quaffle back at me and headed back to the posts mumbling about loopholes and how I mustâve been a Ravenclaw.
I lined back up for the second shot. I had to make this one a little bit better than the last to show that I was trying, but not too much better that heâd be prepared for my final shots.
I ducked down, twisting around to head towards the right post with my full focus on the hoop. I launched the Quaffle. Jeongguk swooped up to catch it in a way that was entirely too elaborate for such a lame throw. He was clearly showing off â an action that I wasnât sure I wanted to know the meaning behind.
Jeongguk made his way over to me, grinning, âSecond question, jagi. Full name, please.â
â(y/f/n) (y/l/n),â I muttered, eyes scanning his face for signs of recognition and hands grabbing the Quaffle away from him.
He looked puzzled, â(y/l/n)? Why does that sound so familiar?â
Before he could think on it further, I pushed his shoulder, âBack to the posts. You got your answer.â
Well, I had attempted to push his shoulder. He didnât even flinch at my shove. His eyes darted to where my hand now laid on his chest. I removed it faster than a Wronski Feint, trying to ignore the tingles that shot up my arm.
Our eyes connected and his were blazing as his mouth crept into a slow smile, âLike your hands on me.â Before I could formulate a reply, he flew off and I resolved that I would make this next shot as if my life depended on it.
We faced each other. I shifted the Quaffle from hand to hand and took off towards him. I gave him no tells, no feints, nothing. This seemed to throw him off for a split second, but that second was all I needed to send the Quaffle sailing through the bottom hoop.
âWhat the fuck was that?â Jeongguk yelled as he got all up in my face.
I bit back a smile. âBeginnerâs luck?â I quipped, loving how his face had darkened perceptibly, âDonât worry. Iâm sure I can pick up some more tips at your practice.â
Unable to keep my grin in check any longer, I smile widely as he lets out a stream of curses that would make even my old crotchety aunt blush.
We resumed our positions. This time he seemed more alert and watchful. He was getting wary of me, despite my claim that it was just luck. Maybe he knew better after allâŚ
âThat wonât happen again, (y/n). Donât get used to it!â he shouted from the posts.
âŚOr not.
I took off. Luck be damned. I zigzagged back and forth towards him. Throwing the Quaffle up in the air, I quickly rolled off my broom, sharply grabbing its end and swinging it up to hit the Quaffle mid-air through the center goalpost. A perfectly executed Finbourgh Flick. Regaining my seat on my broom I sailed back to the penalty line and turned back to face Jeongguk.
He looked utterly gobsmacked, âBeginnerâs luck? Beginnerâs fucking luck? Who the fuck are you?â
I grinned victoriously at his wounded ego, âYou know my name, Jeon. Now you can use it at two practices.â
â(y/f/n) (y/l/n), (y/f/n) (y/l/n)⌠fucking hell,  youâre the new Hufflepuff captain,â he gawked at me.
âBingo, Gryff,â I laughed, âTook you long enough.â
âWhy did I think you were a bloke? I would have remembered such aââ he cut himself off, âYou hustled me! There is no way Iâm letting you into my practices now.â
We were nose to nose now as I responded, âA dealâs a deal. I thought you Gryffindors were all about honor.â
His face was thunderous, âAnd I thought you Hufflepuffs were all about fairness.â
âWe are,â I said plainly, âWe just donât take lightly to intimidation. Now come on, weâve got one round left.â
A range of emotions moved across his face to settle in a heated look that I couldnât quite decipher, âFine, jagi,â his molten gaze darted to my mouth, âGive it your best shot.â
Swallowing hard, I shook my head, trying to clear my brain of entirely too inappropriate thoughts of me and Jeongguk. As much as I attempted to refocus on making my final shot, my attention wasnât fully there.
And I fucked it up. Jeongguk dove to catch my throw mid-air, and he sped towards me triumphantly, âSlipping already? What was that?â
I blushed. He noticed.
âCome on,â he said, âI need a drink and then you need to answer my last question.â
I followed him to the ground, cursing my treacherous body for reacting so obviously. My subconscious battled:
âHeâs a player!â the imaginary Dumbledore on my right shoulder boomed.
âKiss him. Now!â hissed the fictitious Voldemort from the other side.
However, all thoughts evacuated my brain at the sight of Jeongguk peeling off his shirt and taking a long sip from his water bottle. My traitorous eyes flew over his torso. I took in his defined abs, his chiseled arms and his fucking beautiful phoenix tattoo that spanned the entirety of his left shoulder, left upper back, and a portion of his neck.
Then I noticed his eyes were watching me right back. And they were all to amused to be innocent⌠âAre you seducing me?â
He spit out his mouthful of water, laughing, âWhy? Is this working for you?â
My eyes now resembled slits as I glared at him, âIs that your last question?â
âNo!â His response came so fast I jolted back on impulse, âNo, itâs notâŚâ
He trailed off as he prowled towards me. I stepped back. He kept coming. I stepped back further.
âWhy are you running, jagi?â his words were too soft and too intense for my liking. I took another step back and bumped up against the stands. His grin in response was predatory as he caged me in between the stands and his body, his arms on either side of my head.
âNowhere to run now, little HufflepuffâŚâ he dragged a finger along the hollows of my throat. He definitely felt the rapid pounding of my pulse, his eyes darkening to the point that they almost seemed black.
I glared defiantly at him, refusing to be daunted by his size or his words. He smirked, âYour last question: do you want to kiss me as much as I want to kiss you?â
I stopped breathing. He waited, a look of uncertainty flickered on his face so briefly I almost thought Iâd imagined it.
That little flare of vulnerability â that should not have been as appealing to me as it was â helped me to regain some of my bearings, âAnd how much do you want to kiss me? I need a scale of reference.â
He smiled crookedly as he leaned in even further, lips brushing against me as he whispered into my neck, âSo fucking bad.â
His tongue darted across my skin as he dragged it up towards my ear. Biting it softly, he murmured, âWell?â
Fuck it all.
My hands latched onto his shoulders and his head snapped up. Raising to my tiptoes, I kissed him. He let out a rough groan, sounding like I was killing him. His hands slid down my body to squeeze my ass before hoisting me up. My legs circled his lean hips as his teeth caught my bottom lip in a faint bite. My hands tangled in his hair, pulling slightly. His hips pressed into mine, drawing a moan from my lips. He smiled against my mouth.
I nipped his lip now in retribution, but it seemed to only urge him on. One hand came up to remove my hair-tie, flinging it over his shoulder. I made a noise of protest, but he just kissed me harder.
How the fuck was he holding me up with one hand?
I prided myself on being a pretty thick bitch, and he was over here acting like I weighed nothing. My fingernails slid down his back, raking over the hard muscles and feeling how they flexed and shifted under my touch.
I donât know how long we spent making out against the stands, but soon enough we heard voices coming from around the corner. Ripping my mouth away from his, I jumped out of his embrace, landing on shaky legs.
His arm wrapped around my waist as he steadies me. He was breathing just as hard as me and I could feel his heartbeat racing. I tugged away from him to retrieve my hair-tie from the ground and put my now wild hair back into its ponytail.
I could feel Jeonggukâs eyes on me all the while. I looked at him. His lips were swollen, his hair was a disheveled mess, his neck was displaying a rather nice hickey that I was sure was mirrored several times over on my own neck. A rare feeling of pride shot through me, and as he opened his mouth to say something, I shook my head and placed a finger over his lips.
âIâll see you at your practice, Jeon.â I placed a quick kiss on his cheek, grabbed my broom and walked off.
As I strode away, I heard him grumbling under his breath: âEverybody warns you about the Slytherins. Nobody fucking warns you about the Hufflepuffs. Fucking hellâŚâ
I smiled all the way back to the Common Room.

Hi El @3lvendork thank you so so much for your kind comment on "No Bias in Beige" (I'm so glad you liked it!!) and for the request for the journalism rant I mentioned in the replies to that fic. I hope you don't mind me making it a post rather than ranting in the comments, but I do better with long stuff in this kind of format where I'm not limited by character counts lol.
So in the replies, I said that there are a lot of things about that fic that I wouldn't do if it were a real article and some things I'd do the same, and I'll be explaining those here.
1. I'm not sure I'd do a story about this at all.
Because this was a fic and not an article for a professional news organization, I was able to take this cheeky idea and pretend like it was newsworthy. A gossip rag like the Daily Prophet might take an interest in what Harry Potter wears to Quidditch matches, but I doubt a respectable news org would think that to be worthy of an articleâor a feature storyâon its own. But, speaking of feature stories, Harry's wearing neutral colors could be part of a feature or an interview about how he and Ginny are still friends post-breakup, or about him getting engaged to Draco. There could be a question in an interview about what it's like to have two people close to him playing against each other in Quidditch. But this by itself as an article? I personally don't think it has a lot of newsworthy merits or enough substance to be a feature on its own.
2. But the lede and headline I wrote as if it was an actual feature
Let's define a couple terms here. Obviously, we all know what a headline is. A lede is the first sentence in a news article; typically it's supposed to summarize the highlights of a news story in one 30ish word sentence. For example, if I did an article about Harry winning the war, the lede would be something like: Harry Potter defeated Voldemort (nee Tom Marvolo Riddle) in a final duel which resulted in Voldemort's death, saving the Wizarding World from being under perpetual Death Eater reign.
Basically, it's supposed to be straightforward and to the point. In a feature/fluffy kind of story, which I think this fic was, ledes can get a bit more creative, which is why I was sorta playful in the lede.
Also, to clarify, a feature story doesn't mean that it's what a paper is promoting the most; it means the story itself highlights (or "features") a certain topic or person in a more in-depth article than an average news story might get to. It's a deep dive, but not (necessarily) investigative.
3. The Ron quote, while funny, is irrelevant.
I probably wouldn't have interviewed Ron for the article at all, unless I asked him what he thought of Harry and Ginny and Draco being friends while Drarry were together; as Ginny's brother and Harry's best friend his could be an interesting perspective on the dynamic. But Ron's Quidditch preferences aren't the focus of the story, here. I included that quote simply because I thought it was funny that he'd easily root for the Harpies (Ginny's team) over the Tornadoes (Draco's team) but he wouldn't be able to choose between the Cannons and the Harpies, despite having no real ties to the Cannons, he just loves the team.
4. If I were to even include the last part in a real article, I would've made it a lot more subtle and possibly used a picture rather than described the underwear/what Draco did in the text.
It would feel inappropriate and unprofessional to describe Harry's underwear in an article for no good reason, and I wouldn't use the word "ass/arse" in an article, either, unless, again, there was a specific reason. It could be cute to talk about Draco's wink and maybe still use the picture (but not if it showed the underwear).
5. I'd never write the line about Draco's "reputation" where I quote all of those things about him, at least not without attribution.
That kind of thing just doesn't look good in print. And it would be weird to say kinda rude stuff about Draco like that just out of the blue. I included it to be funny, but I'd not put that in a real story. The only way I can imagine printing it in the story is if someone I interviewed said it in an on-the-record context that made it less blatantly critical. And even then there's a good chance I'd leave it out altogether.
Speaking of things being "on" or "off" the record, I want to clarify something I've seen people do in media when they write fictional stories about/relating to journalism that irks me.
Generally, if a journalist is interviewing someone, it's only off the record if the subject enforces that BEFORE they say the secret/hush-hush thing. You don't get to be all mad if you tell a journalist something in a context that could clearly be seen as an interview without requestingâat any point, but especially not after already saying the thingâfor it to be off the record. If you say it in an interview and at no point SAY that you want it off the record, you should assume it could be published.
6. One thing I'd do the same is the quotes (from Harry, Ginny and Draco).
I wrote the quotes specifically to be 1. in character and 2. the kind of thing I'd want to include/pick for the story. They show the different perspectives, have relevance and information I (the reporter) wouldn't have known/found out otherwise, and are engaging to read.
Okay, that all being said, cheeky self-rec time! If anyone wants to see me project my journalism ramblings onto Draco you can read it in my Journalist!Draco fic, "Watch What Happens" on AO3! I have a whole few paragraphs that are just me talking about why I love journalism lol. Plus it's enemies to lovers! And fluff! And yeah!
#thanks El!#i hope this isnt too rambly#but you asked me to get nerdy and i took the chance lol#drarry#pheeby deeby thoughts

i was tagged in this by the wonderful @fremulon (thanks cherry!) and accidentally deleted the whole thing twice so now i'm mostly just posting it out of spite and without a read more due to said spite. SUCK IT TUMBLR.
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
I have 10 published out loud and 1 published anonymously
2. Whatâs your total AO3 word count?
226419
3. How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?
okay so this is really only my most recent life. i have been around a lot. a lot. i was there, gandalf, during the superwholock years (and an active participant) so over the course of my life it's like
Harry Potter, Teen Titans, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Supernatural, Inception, Daredevil, The Avengers, The Musketeers, Wells & Wong Mysteries, Twin Peaks, Homestuck, Red vs Blue
but in this lifetime i'm just writing for Good Omens (and have written for DuckTales and Cruella)
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
1 â Loosely Ballroom (surprising absolutely nobody)
2 â Look Not Too Deep
3 â ergo propter hoc (okay this one is kind of a surprise actually but i'm very happy about it i love this fic)
4 â cafĂŠ au vin
5 â an institute you can't disparage
5. Do you respond to comments, why or why not?
i do! i try to respond to every comment i get on the day of/the day after i get it. i've met a lot of good friends this way, and i also just like taking the time to respond to people who've taken the time to respond to something i made. makes me feel good (plus i want everyone to like me)
the only downside is it can get a bit overwhelming at times? particularly with LB, which gets a shitload of comments per chapter and can take me up to two full days to read through them all and answer, and if i'm having a bad brain time i just cannot face doing it. so if you've ever left a comment and i've not responded, i promise It's not because i don't appreciate it. my brain machine just was going brmmmmmmmmm.
6. Whatâs the fic youâve written with the angstiest ending?
i was going to say NONE BECAUSE I DON'T WRITE ANGST but i guess if i had to decide it would be the RVB fic that's on my ao3 right now, which has an angstily hopeful ending.
7. Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one youâve written?
hahahaha
CRAZY LIKE A FOX
8. Have you ever received hate on a fic?
not as far as i'm aware! i have had several uhhhhhhh overly familiar meant-to-be-jovial comments on/about the above crossover from people i don't really know very well that have told me i'm a terrible person or i've committed crimes while i'm out here like, cool this is art i made and put in the world for fun and believe in and i don't really... know you? but those comments were meant in good faith imo so i don't really think it counts as hate
9. Do you write smut? If so what kind?
the last time i tried to write smut, crowley got stabbed, so the kind that sends people to the hospital i guess?
10. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
not to my knowledge. good luck formatting all the images and italics, anyone who might try.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
again, not to my knowledge!
12. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
infamously. it's the only reason anyone might have read this far. also attempting to collaborate on an as-of-yet-unfinished-project with @indieninja92 who is a creative genius with their finger in many, many pies. speaking of, have you visited hauntedswords.com recently?
13. Whatâs your all time favorite ship?
errrrrr i mean probably aziraphale/crowley, not to seem obvious. they've been with me since i was like 10 years old, they haven't gone anywhere, they will probably be bothering me until the day i die.
14. Whatâs a WIP you want to finish but donât think you ever will?
I WILL FINISH ALL OF MY WIPs. okay no that's not true, i have the start of an inception fic that is a GO AU that i honestly think would have been fucking slammin' but the time for that has passed now.
15. What are your writing strengths?
a very definite sense of character voice, attention to detail in terms of enriching the world i'm writing in, dialogue dialogue dialogue, smash cuts (are they even called smash cuts in writing? WHATEVER THEY ARE I CAN DO THEM)
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
you are my collaborator. you send me back part of a chapter and tell me i have a sentence that is a bit too lengthy and doesn't work, and i need to edit it. i send it back to you. the sentence is now an entire paragraph and a half, with three jokes, a metaphor and a new line of dialogue embedded in it, changing the overall tone of the chapter. this is known as The Mort Special.
i also get very in my own head about not really being a good writer, or not being as good as the people (or person specifically i suppose) that i'm working with. i'm working on this! i'm not working on The Mort Special, though, that's always writing gold.
17. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
this is a really weird and specific question, who hurt you OP? errrr i guess much like any quirk of writing, it's fine when used sparingly and with a deft hand.
18. What was the first fandom you wrote for?
fuck me, probably Harry Potter? neopets roleplaying boards were a gateway drug.
19. Whatâs your favorite fic youâve written?
this is the part where i pretend i'm going to say something other than Loosely Ballroom. i don't think i'll ever make something else in my life that's made me feel the way making that has. it's beenâto delve into reality TV speak (and paraphrase crowley from a future chapter)âa real emotional rollercoaster.
plus it's just fuckin' funny isn't it.
tagging @phoenix-soar, @thyra279, @heycaricari, @stillseekwill and @katnoggin (and anyone else who might want to!)

Fics were my life vest in 2020. I read so many amazing stories, but these are a few that really stood out. Thank you to all the amazing creators in our fandom. You made 2020 bearable. <3
Stranger Stars by shaylea @sunshineandhisrainbows
This fic is one of my favorite fics ever. The story follows non-famous ot5 on an African safari and an epic journey of the heart. The description of the world is breathtaking and absorbing. The slow burn of an immediate connection is perfectly tantalizing and bittersweet. I donât think I can even properly express how much I loved this. Itâs over 200k words so you can and will get lost in it.
Ever Since I Tried Your Way by @flowercrownfemmeâ
Harry leaves his bride and his life behind on his wedding day, and when Louis offers him a ride and a place to stay on his farm, itâs fate. The tender, breathless, aching joy of embracing your real self is so beautifully articulated in this fic. Farmer Louis and gender exploring Harry are amazing together in their cozy little world. Baby animals are the cherry on top.
This Worldâs Ashes by @sunshineandthemoonlightâ
The writing in this is lyrical and powerful. Readers are transported into a post-apocalyptic world where Harry and his dog are surviving just fine until he encounters another human and invites him to sleep the night in his shelter. He starts to want more than just survival. I betaed this fic, and I waited for every chapter with baited breath. It was only posted a few days before the new year, but itâs been a big and bright part of my 2020.
Lemon Eyes by @turnyourankleâ
My bookmark comment really says it all: âSweet like tooth rot. Diverse non penetrative sex. Verse a/oâ So if you love well-written non-penetrative and verse sexy times in fics, this is for you. If you want gentle Louis with a reputation and virgin Harry, this is also for you. I canât get over these pining, lovely cuties.
Give A Little Sing to The Singles by ladylonderry @londonderryteaâ
Buckle in for a hilarious ride with this one. Harry is the new guy in a boring office job, but just being around his coworker Louis is absolutely worth the drudgery. This fic also features a whole cast of familiar and wonderful characters. Itâs a real gem.
Letâs Talk About Making Love by istajmaalÂ
I found this fic again in 2020, and I still love it. Niall makes Harry dial a phone sex line and gets bossed around a little bit by Louis. Harry maybe calls backâŚa lot. The dynamic of kink discovery is really well written, but so is the way their relationship evolves and deepens. Sweet, sexy, and absolutely satisfying.Â
Honorary mention to a similar fic where Harry is the phone sex operator: Take Our Bodies Higher by @littlelouishiccupsâ
Knocked Me Sideways by @ferryboatpeakâ
Even if you normally donât read other pairings than Larry, give this one a shot. I am absolutely obsessed with this verse where Jack Lowden has a life-changing one night stand with Harry. This non-famous au with mpreg Harry is so unlike anything else, in a good way. The story is told from Jackâs perspective, and his emotionally stunted but well-intentioned narrative made my heart flutter, break, and soar.
My English Love Affair by @isthatyoularryâ
This is a fandom classic apparently, but I had never read it! Famous/non famous au where Louis sleeps with the indie rockstar Harry Styles more than a few times and maybe gets a song written about him, but itâs no big deal. The characters really pull you in and the mixture of sweet, sexy, funny, and angsty is just right.
Have a Nice Trip by @kingsofeverythingâ
This funny, sexy, and adorable short fic follows roommates trying shrooms in quarantine and maybe being a bit more candid than planned. Iâve read this at least five times. It never fails to make me smile.
And my favorite of my own fics from this yearâŚ
Simple Gifts by me! @larryatendofthedayâ
I have a soft spot for this sweet, short fic about finding meaning and joy in unusual times. It was born out of the anxiety of 2020, and I think I will probably always be proud of it. Check it out if you want something gentle and hopeful.
Happy New Year! Now go read! â¤

Just Your Jinx
by @larryatendoftheday
10k words | Harry/Louis | Teen and Up
Harry Styles may or may not have accidentally jinxed his extremely fit new neighbor, and it's not so easy to make things right.
Featuring witch Harry, mind-reading Mitch, stress baking, and a series of entertaining events.
~~~
Harry grabs a basket and a couple bags of chips from the first endcap. That will be his apology gift, he figures. Like, âOh Iâm so sorry I accidentally jinxed you, but I fixed it! Have some chips!â Yeah, he is going to need more than chips.
He groans and scrubs at his face with his free hand. God he really fucked up this time. Right there in the middle of the aisle is a big bin of stuffed animals. Maybe he can bury himself in there and justâ
âGood evening.â
Harry whirls around searching for the source of the voice. At the end of the aisle is an employee peering at him over a cart of boxes. âHi,â Harry manages to say.
âHow can I help you, tonight?â the man asks.
Harry laughs wryly. âNot sure you can.â Not sure thereâs any good way out of jinxing your cute new neighbor.
The worker hums in response but doesnât keep moving. Harry shuffles his feet and glances at the shelves, wishing he would stop looking at him. Would sour candies help with the apology? No, probably not.
âYeah, probably not.â
Read it now on AO3.
You Can See It with the Lights Out
8500 words | Mature | Soulmates AU
Written by @larryatendofthedayâ
Editor @sunshineandthemoonlightâ
Support and ideas @justthegirljada
In a universe where you know as soon as you meet your soulmate, Harryâs been shaking hands his whole career, waiting for the one.
Eleanor laughs as she blows out her smoke. âSorry, forgot you hate smoking.â He must have cringed, damn it. She grinds her fag out on the bottom of her shoe. âUnless itâs Louis, of course.â
Harry laughs self-consciously. âYeah, maybe.â Probably. Definitely, if heâs honest. His brain swirls for a minute, groping for the reason, for why that might be, before he closes his eyes and lets himself focus on the rocking of the swing instead.
When he opens his eyes again, Eleanor is looking at him with the tiniest knowing smirk. Logically, he knows that she canât see much in the night, but somehow he feels exposed. She leans back and pushes their swing higher. âYou know⌠when I met my soulmate, I didnât realize right away.â
Written for @sweetsubharryâ through @secretlarryvalentineâ! I was working right until the end to put the final touches on this. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did making it!! â¤đ
hey! saw ur post about tjr and her books, and honestly if you didnât enjoy daisy jones or evelyn hugo, donât bother with malibu rising, itâs just not very good. i enjoyed the other two, even with their flaws, but malibu rising just lacks the same charm, making the poor writing stick out. also your review of evelyn hugo is so realâ˘ď¸. i loved it but also wished it couldâve been more. the portrayal evelynâs bisexuality was /interesting/ to say the least. and it wouldâve been nice if sheâd been with a woman other than celia, just to experience it and learn more about herself. not to mention, i wasnât 100% sold on their relationship. but nonetheless i could still ship them and i enjoyed her queerplatonic relationship with harry. however the way race is handled is very sloppy. one line about barely being in the civil rights movement isnât much considering that evelyn is described as non-white. it sometimes felt like i was reading the summary of a really good book instead of actually watching ya know, reading it
Thank you so much for sending this ask <3 i have sooo many thoughts of TJR and this allows me to share almost all of them.
I have heard a lot of. Not good stuff. About Malibu Rising, but I want to give it a try to see if the "telling instead of showing" aspect is as strong in it as it is in her other books despite being told in real time. The "looking back on my life" format plays into it so much because these people are able to say why they did what in hindsight; they've had time to reflect. And if Daisy Jones was a Rolling Stone cover story that wouldn't be an issue given that I signed up for having stuff explained to me, but in a novel it doesn't hold my attention. I don't need somebody to guide me through the story without ever giving me time to stray off the designed path a bit. TJR tends to be a tad patronizing in her writing, her characters are meant to be believed at all times and rarely ever questioned, but that doesnât reflect the truth: All of these people are unreliable to some degree because they are human and misremeber things or hide stuff to make themselves look better. ALSO: A good interviewer doesnât just write down everything the interviewee says but adds their own perspective (which is how we get stuff like the Jeremy Strong profile everybody is so obsessed with; it seems like a lot got lost in translation there). Sure, the published Evelyn Hugo book in the novel is a biography, so it isnât supposed to have that, however, in the novel itself Monique could have or should have challenged Evelyn more imo. Why give your interviewers a backstory when they end up just being there to write down shit.
Re: The representation aspect... I am gonna focus on the bisexual rep here because I am a bi girl myself and therefore can talk more on that specific issue. There is no right or wrong way to be bi, being in love with one woman only is enough if you want to use that label, howeverrr narratively Evelynâs sexuality only ever revolving around Celia is... weak? We know she sleeps with other women off-screen, it gets mentioned at some point, however, we never actually hear Ev mention or talk about genuine attraction towards a woman that isnât Celia. The way she looks at other women doesnât feel queer, if that makes sense. Gay women donât want to sleep with every girl they meet obviously, but feeling flustered when a pretty girl touches you, or having very intense female friendships seem to be a pretty common part of the queer woman experience and none of that is found in Evelyn Hugo. The way it is written is very straight even though the main love story is queer. Evelyn doesnât read as queer when she isnât romantically involved with Celia, and that feels weird. Her bisexuality is only there to make her more interesting, to give her a secret, and to make Celia belittle her for it Plus: I think her only ever having negative experiences with her other partners (all men) makes the love story weaker. Celia and her are not a great couple, and her husbands ALL treating her badly (except Harry) just make it seem as if Celia is the best option she has. Had she realized in another good relationship that it doesnât give her what Celia gave her, it would have been more impactful. Not to mention that Celia does a lot of thing Evelyn doesnât like about her ex husbands.
I think it all comes down to what you said in your final sentence: The ideas are there but the execution lacks depth. Evelyn gets all these things taped to her (being queer, being a WOC, being sexualized for her entire life) in order to make the story more interesting, but the novel never gets DEEP into these things outside of very explicitly mentioning them a bunch of times. Evelyn never stops being bisexual, but we donât see that side of her until we need to narratively. Same goes for her being Latina. We get one (1) scene of her regretting neglecting and hiding her heritage for so long, but there are never any subconcious things that makes us realize that before she does. TJR makes her characters tell us everything and itâs boring, which is a shame given that her ideas are so interesting. Every part of ourselves influences us every second of the day, sometimes more, sometimes less, but that doesnât seem to be the case for her characters.
FROM THE MONARCHIST LEAGUE OF CANADA
As this Ecomm went to publication, we received word of the death, at the great age of 96, of Bill Silver, a significant benefactor of the League from its early days, and for many years a pillar of our Ottawa Branch.  We wished to remember him here: his ebullient spirit, fierce loyalty spoken gently, innate modesty and kindness.  Indeed Chaucer might have had forethought of Bill in describing one of his characters as a âvery parfitt gentle knight.â May his ardent spirit rest in peace, and his memory be a blessing and example to us all.  LEAGUE ISSUES NEW FLYER: THE CASE FOR THE CROWN The League thought it timely and useful to issue, offer in its advertising and distribute as widely as possible - both via the website and in printed form - a new flyer which will give you, our members, ammunition to argue logically the case for the Crown in conversation with others, and, we hope, to distribute strategically. One never knows when such an item, left on a waiting room table at the doctor or dentistâs office, affixed to a supermarket or other community bulletin board, put through neighboursâ mail slots - the possibilities are many - will do good work for our cause. We hope you will both enjoy and profit from this item, and that many thousands will be distributed across the country. See item one in the WHAT CAN I DO FOR THE CANADIAN CROWN? section of this Ecomm, below, to read online and request printed copies.  And special thanks to our wonderful team of no less than seven translators, all francophones from La Belle Province, who so kindly volunteered to make the French version one that is accurate in expression and eloquent in its prose.           WHAT CAN I DO FOR THE CANADIAN CROWN? Some suggestions for member activity during these times. We invite members to send additional ideas by return of email. 1.   How about asking the League to send you several print copies of our new flyer:  THE CASE FOR THE CROWN, or print them on your home computer:  https://www.monarchist.ca/index.php/publications and give them to others who may be unaware or sceptical of the importance of Canadaâs constitutional monarchy, or even hostile to it. School teachers could be encouraged to read the Leagueâs educational booklets, also available both online and in print at the same URL, or even to request a class set.  2.   When you read an editorial, opinion column or letter to the editor in a newspaper, or a tweet or Facebook post, critical of the Crown, donât get mad - get even! In other words, use a temperate tone and logical argument to refute the writerâs attack.  Keep it brief: focus on the obvious flaws in reasoning, mis-statements of fact or name-calling substituting for logic.  Same goes for radio talk shows. In the long run, on all media, whatever the provocation, whatever the momentary satisfaction of âgiving them a piece of my mindâ - an old adage remains true: âYou catch more flies with honey.â 3.   Write your elected representative at the federal level to re-state briefly the reasons you support constitutional monarchy as our system of government,  and asking the MP whether not your view is shared. 4.   Once pandemic restrictions ease, try to make sure that Royal events - such as the upcoming 95th birthday of our Queen, 10th Wedding Anniversary of William and Catherine or 100th birthday of Prince Philip are celebrated both in your home but also among your wider family, your friends, your colleagues at the office,  your place of worship/faith community or service club. The League generally sends you some ideas to mark these celebrations. Remember, as they are incorporated into family life and public life, the   Crown becomes further embedded in the heart of the nation, and truly represents The Queenâs wish that it âreflects all that is best and most admired in the Canadian ideal.â This is especially true when you go out of your way to include in your observance the newest members of our Canadian family, who generally are eager to participate in the traditions of their new homeland, and in turn to share their own traditions with the wider community. 5.   Always use a Queen stamp when you write a letter or pay a bill by mail. 6.   At events of ceremony, whether a Council meeting, a graduation, a civic celebration - whatever - make sure that the Royal Anthem is sung as well as the National Anthem. To the extent you can, discourage event organizers from having a soloist âperformâ them. Far more pride and     learning develop from the untrained voices of loyal folk singing together. In that way, the Anthems are sung âwith heart and voiceâ and not merely listened to.  A FINAL IDEA: AN ACT OF LOVING SUPPORT & THANKS Apart from the above, we think it would be enormously comforting and supportive for every one of us to  write a kind letter to The Queen, expressing your thoughts at a difficult time: her beloved husband ailing, a grand-child chiding other family members via sensational television, the drumbeat of the tabloids and the restrictions on her busy life caused by the pandemic.  A selection of letters, especially those from Commonwealth Realms, are indeed seen by The Queen - and their number and tone are summarized to Her Majesty. The address is - Her Majesty The Queen, Buckingham Palace, London SW1A 1AA, UK Theoretically you donât need postage to write the Sovereign; in practice, it is safer to affix the international airmail stamp available from your local Canada Post outlet.  AN INTERESTING OPINION PIECE FROM TODAYâS DAILY TELEGRAPHWe thought you might be interested to see the following strongly-worded opinion piece, reflecting a good deal of the tone of recent British public opinion, rather different from much of the Canadian and US commentary. Meghanâs fake interview has real-world effects The Sussexesâ claims have undermined the monarchy and done lasting damage to the Commonwealth by Tim Stanley, March 15, 2021 Two headlines appeared on the BBC News website on the same day. At the top: âHarry and Meghan rattle monarchyâs gilded cageâ. At the bottom: âThe kidnapped woman who defied Boko Haramâ. Well, that puts the Sussexes' problems in perspective, doesnât it? Yet across Africa, one reads, the Duchessâs story has revived memories of colonial racism, tarnishing the UKâs reputation, and has even lent weight to the campaign in some countries to drop the Queen as head of state. The only nation that seems to think a lot of nonsense was spoken is Britain. In the wake of an interview that Joe Bidenâs administration called courageous, British popular opinion of Harry and Meghan fell to an all-time low, and the American format had a lot to do with it. Oprah Winfrey is not our idea of an interviewer. She flattered, fawned and displayed utter credulity. Imagine if it had been her, not Emily Maitlis, who interviewed Prince Andrew over the Jeffrey Epstein allegations. âYou were in a Pizza Express that day? Oh my God, you MUST be innocent! Tell me, in all honesty, though...did you have the dough balls?â This wasnât an interview, it was a commercial for a brand called Sussex, a pair of eco-friendly aristo-dolls that, if you pull the string, tell their truth â which isnât the truth, because no one can entirely know that, but truth as they perceive it. âLife is about storytelling,â explained Meghan, âabout the stories we tell ourselves, the stories weâre told, what we buy into.â Meghan is a postmodernist. Just as Jean Baudrillard said the Gulf War never happened, but was choreographed by the US media, so the Royal narrative she was forced to live was fake, her public happiness was fake and, following that logic, this interview might involve an element of performance, too. People have challenged her claims, alleging contradictions and improbabilities, but one of the malign effects of wokeness is that you have got to be very careful about pointing this out. Why? Because wokery insists on treating a subjective view as objective truth, or even as superior, because itâs based upon âlived experienceâ. To contradict that personal perspective is perceived as cruel, elitist and, in Meghanâs case, potentially racist, so itâs best to wait a few weeks to a year before applying a fact check. In the meantime, affect sympathy. People would rather you lied to their face than tell them what they donât want to hear. The result is profoundly dishonest, for I have never known an event over which there is such a gulf between the official reception, as endorsed by the media and politics, and the reaction of average citizens, who are wisely keeping it to themselves. Into that vacuum of silence steps not the voice of reason but bullies and showmen â like Piers Morgan, who said some brash stuff about Meghanâs honesty and, after an unseemly row on Good Morning Britain, felt obliged to resign from his job.  âIf youâd like to show your support for me,â he wrote afterwards, âplease order a copy of my book.â Dear Lord, was this row fake, too? I can no longer be sure, though I despised Good Morning Britain before and still do: it embodies the cynical confusion of emotion and fact, a show made for clicks, where even the weatherman has an opinion. So what is real in 2021? The Commonwealth, which does a lot of good in a divided world. The monarchy, which has been at its best during the pandemic, doing the boring stuff of cutting ribbons and thanking workers that, one suspects, Meghan never grew into (can you imagine her opening a supermarket in Beccles?). It contains flawed people, but that only adds to its realness, and they can adapt faster than you might think. Prince William got the ball rolling by telling reporters, who he is trained to ignore, that his family is not racist. His wife paid her respects to the murder victim Sarah Everard, demonstrating that she is neither cold nor silenced. Iâd wager Kate does her duty, day after day, no complaint, not because she is âtrappedâ, as Harry uncharitably put it, but because she loves her family and believes in public service. Meghan and Harry have indeed prompted the Royal family to change: not in order to endorse their criticisms, however, but to answer them.
