DAY 15: follow forever + my thanks

So those who have been around for the last few years know I usually post this on the last day of cheercember as a thanks for those who participated and sent in requests as well as just to thank all the lovely mutuals for hanging around and for giving to the fandoms in the way that they do. As you can see it's only Day 15 and that just kind of explains my year skjfslkjf. For those who don't know I was promoted earlier this year and I now have a dual role at my job and slowly as the year went by in order to keep up with things as well as for other reasons that happen within my career I started working 85-90 hours every two weeks. December was no different and by the time I got home I had little energy left to be creative or to sit in front of my laptop. However, that being said I do still plan to finish the requests and even my list (yes I had a list). I will slowly push them out through Janurary.

Now that that's all out of the way, I do really want to thank everyone (followers included) for making this such a fun space as we all need a little escapism in our life. And I also always appreciate your support! I hope you all have a happy new year and that good things find you throughout the year. Tagging my lovely mutuals beneath the cut & in the comments because tumblr put a limit on it . (if I forgot anyone I am deeply sorry)

In the dressing room tn for my intramural hockey game with the girl from the opposing team and she was complaining about her chest protector not fitting over her chest and how she kinda wished she didn’t have boobs. And I was like ‘as a nonbinary person, totally get it’. And then she kinda got shy and quiet and was like ‘you know how some non-binary people wear binders… I’ve always kinda wanted to get one’ and I was like !!! and gave her a couple tips, told her where I got my binders from, and let her know about our uni’s gender affirming care program (will order and pay for various different gender affirming gear for students). And she said that she worried she was taking resources away from people who needed it. And I assured her that wasn’t the case because there’s no limit to the number of people that can order stuff, and was like ‘Plus, gender is a social construct and if wearing a binder affirms your gender, then it affirms your gender! You can be a cis woman and not want boobs! And if that’s the case then that’s gender affirming care!’ She thanked me for the tips and I told her not to worry about it and it was just one of the nicest interactions I’ve ever had with a total stranger. And the timing of it, too.

Tonight was my first time playing hockey in two years. I started playing hockey when I was 4 and last year was the first year I didn’t play. There were a couple people on the intramural team that I was on that said some homophobic/transphobic stuff in the dressing room and it made me so uncomfortable that I didn’t want to play anymore. After 16 years, I couldn’t ignore that the sport I loved was not accepting of me anymore. It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve made.

But this year, I got sucked back into the world of professional hockey, and watching all of my favourite players play made me want to play. So, I waited for co-ed hockey to start, not comfortable playing solely men’s or women’s, and that was the first interaction I had? Wow. I didn’t even have my skates on yet.

The hockey community still has a long way to go, but it’s good to feel hopeful again :)

Ah, Lisso, reading this chapter I really could see you smirk at the computer with an evil laughter. I felt it in my bones.

I do know the sweet, sweet temptation of writing Foresight. But those jumps??? Those switches between sweet and terror and THAT SCENE?!?!?

Lisso. I heard your evil laugh. I heard it doubly when I read the part where Ingo reads and finds the drawings.

On the other hand, I cannot put into words how much I love what you did there with he Grandma of Law, and how Foresight works, and how elves coming into their power work, and all of that. As always, your worldbuilding is impeccable.

BUT ALSO WHY ARE YOU USING INGO AS A PUNCHING BAG WE ARE IN THE COMFORT PART OF HURT COMFORT IT WAS SO CLOSE TO BEING JUST CATHARSIS AND YOU WENT AND MADE HIM CRY

Ahem. That is to say. I came there for the promised smut. I stayed for the worldbuilding. And when the smut came I was kind of disappointed because I wanted more worlbuilding, XD. I'm so happy to see this fic bloom from the, what it was, 10k words it was when I first stumbled upon it, to this beautiful behemoth it is today. From the depths of my heart, thank you for sharing this amazing piece of literature with us, humble Tolkienites.

Aaaaaaaaa thank you for the ask (and for your live reactions to this chapter, which were SO INCREDIBLE!)

I swear, I was not TRYING to be overly evil! For a fic that is now 300k words long, it's kind of short on plot. The political stuff is super fun, but not a focus because at the end of the day, it's Ingo's story, and his personal journey, and he hasn't been quite ready to become wholly or consciously involved with that side of things. Yet.

(And then I did this to him...I do see where you're coming from!)

Anyway, he's hit a lot of turning points and realizations about himself, and he's been having such consistent support and progress while being unable to realize a lot of things, and...he needed a push. He needed to discover what he wanted for himself.

(Just to be clear, the push and recovery is so we can GET THROUGH to the full force of the comfort and the happy ending! Findarato needs to be able to accept them for what they are!)

I am SO glad you enjoyed how the foresight ended up working out in this chapter, between the worldbuilding and the scenes. It has been very fun to work out the specifics of how it works in this universe, and use that for some nice foreshadowing!

(Also, I just want you to know you are ENTIRELY at fault for the wingfic brainworm that is taking up space in my mind and writing software, and that will also be an extensive amount of worldbuilding and LESS smut, on account of how it is a slowburn where they don't start from 'married and sad about it.' SO MUCH WORLDBUILDING.)
