Random question time for you! 🤭

Have you ever experienced having the same dream several times? Or having extremely similar dreams with a very clear common theme and if so how did you react? Mind sharing what it was about if that's not too personal?

Oh that's a fun one! It's been years ago now, but I've had two recurring dreams. One was me seeing as if through shutters and it was always one 'scene' where I go up the stairs in very old wooden house, reach the attic and there is this old guy and the attic is filled with his paintings and that's it, the end of the dream. I remember each time being scared that I cannot see, the conviction that it is permanent was solid. It was always a big relief when I woke up and I could see normally tbh. I think after a few times I kinda realized that the dream was only a dream and it stopped happening

The other dream was way more elaborate because every time I dreamed it I dreamed more of it, either it being the same thing happening and me seeing more of it (the faces of people I didn't recognize before, details of objects, voices etc) and/or getting more of the 'story'. It basically started with me just knowing that I am with certain people to actually seeing them, me vaguely knowing the space and then me seeing it. The whole dream is a walk basically, starting from a lone island in the middle of lake, then through the forest, through cut wired fence, through the fields of grain finally ending up on some kind of sandy place with lakes dividing the pathways. And the whole dream is filled with people from my life and some strangers too, they're all walking around me, sometimes with me, sometimes beside me, then they leave, some come back at other points in the dream, some don't. Some are always far away. There are a few details in the landscapes too, like an old boat, a house, rusty nail, there were probably other things I don't remember now. I really like this dream, the uniqueness of it, it's probably why I remember it so vividly even now, years later after its done. I don't remember any particular feelings associated with it so maybe there weren't any big ones that could stick in my head alongside it.

XD (Also, as far as I'm concerned, Bill and Mabel were both correct in that lime green accessories make the dress Much Better.)

Cody worries.

To be fair, he’s good at that. He’s been worrying for most of his life, about brothers and battles and all the small intricacies that accompany being second-in-command of, functionally, most of the GAR. He forces it into planning and practice until it eases enough to let him grab a few hours of sleep, but it never really– leaves.

And now he’s got something else to worry about.

Oh, don’t get him wrong– he’s worried about Obi-Wan for a while now. But this–

This is new.

He doesn’t come down to the barracks on his own, despite Cody’s hopes after the first night. And they keep finding him in… odd places.

Watching the blurring stars on the observation deck, his comm unit methodically disassembled in front of him. In the rafters of the cargo bay, datapads stacked perilously next to him on a folded crane. In the laundry room, the sound of his pacing muffled under the thunk-thunk-thunk of the enormous machines.

He comes with them, when they ask. But the bags under his eyes grow darker, and his voice grows quieter, and Cody worries and worries and worries.

(There is not a lot of information about Melidaan in their briefing.)

He thinks:

Standing together on the bridge, shoulders brushing together.

The set of Obi-Wan’s jaw.

The sudden shock of Stats’ voice, announcing their approach.

Obi-Wan’s hand, pressed against the tempered glass.

The fog of his breath when he leans forward, watching.

The light–

Turning towards the window.

The light. 

Obi-Wan’s voice. Quiet, disbelieving.

Oh, he says. All the lights are on.

The stretch of them. The expanse.

"Sir," Cody says quietly, unwilling to disturb the silent bridge. "We should-"

"Yes," Obi-Wan agrees. His hands vanish into the sleeves of his cloak, and Cody's own itch. "We should."

Cody opens the comm line when Obi-Wan doesn't move. Leans forward when Obi-Wan doesn't move. Declares himself when the line crackles, watches Obi-Wan twitch at the voice announcing Central Control, introduces himself, confirms their ship's ID, and then--

"Requesting identification of the highest-ranking officer on board."

It translates perfectly well.

Obi-Wan closes his eyes. Leans forward.

"Ben Kenobi," he says. He glances up, meets Cody's questioning gaze, quirks a smile- "Reporting for duty."

Her excitement peels away the years.

She sounds so-

Young.

Stats takes over briefly. Coordinates. The landing dock.

Cody tunes him out and watches Obi-Wan instead, feeling faintly ill.

"It's good to hear your voice, Mel," Obi- General Kenobi says at last. "I've- missed you. Very much."

"And yours, Ben," says Mel, and that's a new name too, one Cody doesn't recognize- "We missed you."

Ben.

"Sir," Cody says cautiously. The bridge is silent, all eyes on them, Waxer's wide-eyed expression mirroring his own nausea. "Were we-- your name--?"

Have they been naming him incorrectly? All this time, have they been doing him wrong? His file had said Obi-Wan, everyone had said Obi-Wan, but they of all people know files aren't the half of it-- had they asked? Actually asked his name? He'd said to call him Obi-Wan, but he's always prioritized them, their comfort, he might not have-

(Their names are all they have.)

"Oh," General Kenobi says. He laughs, a little half-hearted thing, and Cody's chest seizes. "Oh, no, I- Mel, she- she couldn't pronounce my name, when I arrived. It was either Ben or Bibi, and I just- kept it. Obi-Wan is more than fine. I haven't been Ben in a very long time. It's their name more than mine, really."

And yet he'd chosen it, when they'd asked for ID.

Cody doesn't stare. Not noticeably, at least. He turns his gaze towards the glass, ducks his head towards Obi-Wan and mutters something along the lines of nice to know we have one friend down there, at least, something that gets another snort, and considers the weight of this newest discovery.

If anyone could shoulder two names like that, he supposes, it would be their general.

(Obi-Wan suits him better, anyways.)

The gunship is packed with most of Ghost's officer corps, all of them eager and wary in equal measure-- even the barest whisper of Separatist sentiment is enough to put them all on edge, because even a whisper making its way to someone in authority indicates a seething mass under their feet that had gone unheard, but it's not quite enough to quell the rustling excitement. Cody suspects Obi-Wan can tell, because his lips twitch upwards as soon as they step onboard, but he doesn't say a word.

Instead, he takes up his position by the portal and presses a hand to the glass.

The portal isn't very big.

Cody rests a hand on his shoulder, and watches him instead.

BoughClan's territory borders FrostClan to the northwest and SpireClan to the southeast. ReefClan and BoughClan aren't close enough to share borders, so BoughClan cats don't get to see them very often now that they've split into four clans again!

i'll get to show it off quite a bit later, but there is a ritual involved with granting outside cats the traits of the respective Clan they've joined. i won't say much more, but i'm VERY excited to show it off when BoughClan gets some outsiders in later moons. (for some reason clangen did not want to give me outsiders for like. 20 moons hahaha)

Well then what is faith to you if you don’t mind me asking? Your response just got me thinking, the part about 100% faith being something else. I agree with you for the most part but also when we say we have faith in someone for example, we mean that we trust them right? Does that mean faith in god is to trust in god to always do the right thing? But then what if we don’t trust that god will always do the right thing. Because historically………

to me faith, much like love/god, is a choice, more accurately a constant series of choices, and the actions that result from those choices. choosing to trust god on some level, to (try to) believe that the love in which we live and move and have our being is not going anywhere, that as my friend from norwich says, "in falling and rising again we are always kept in that same precious love." faith is particularly noticeable to me where language begins to fail; i have recently caught its glimmer in the midst of profound grief, as well as in books from hundreds of years ago that manage to describe my own experiences. my faith (such as it is) is sustained by my visits to such liminal spaces, also it is held up by the faith of others, also by the knowledge that assenting to and following the love that has always had its teeth in me has only ever (eventually) led me to deeper peace and understanding, greater compassion, more beauty than i had known....whether i "believe" it or not.

then of course there's what you do with this faith, because i don't really think god acts in the physical world independently of creatures (including but not limited to human beings). in a sense, your faith can make god real, if it leads you to love as a verb, which it will if you let it.

Read the tags on the latest post, honestly, you did nail the kind of mentality that would be common in soviet countries and is a bit common in post soviet countries. We do usually keep to ourselves. Like, we in Slovakia have a whole saying "Nehas, čo ťa nepáli." ("Don't existinguish what isn't burning you").

Does Heavy have a more backstory reason for why he doesn't share much about himself or more just that's how he is?

To be honest I really think it’s a mix of both for BLU heavy specifically. Now I don’t talk about him at ALL but y’all are gonna get some lore outta me. For this question. (As for the first comment thank you so much! Though funnily enough I didn’t intend for that, funny how I still hit the mark though! What a compliment)

First, you may boo me if you like: I believe in the clone theory—I know I know it’s common! I like to think specifically the Red team +Blu engineer are the originals while the Blu team +Red Engineer are the clones.

How I think it works is that one day they just kinda spawned in with the other original guy’s memories and said “welp time to continue life”. Some of their looks varied a bit (engineer and sniper) but most of them stayed physically the same. Mentally and emotionally however they are VERY different.

They react and act the way they do due to the fact they’re still, technically, their own person with their own thoughts and feelings, and interestingly enough they formed their own mentality. They may have the memories and the looks of their original but mentally wise they think and act differently.

Heavy is an example. BLU heavy and red heavy react differently to their teams. Red heavy is very empathetic, yes, he’s quiet and only really speaks when he feels he needs to, and he’s a pretty stern looking guy��but he’s genuinely very kind. He’s an empathetic person, if he were to give advice he would. He’s just a down to earth person. BLU heavy however is apathetic. He would rather keep to himself than help others—he has morals sure, he thinks he COULD help, but that doesn’t mean he SHOULD. He’s very big on the mentality of “that’s not my business” and just leaves it alone. Which is basically what you’re saying with the Slovakia saying. He’s a very morally grey person cuz he chooses to keep to himself rather than help others even though he knows of wrongdoings. Now, there are two reasons for this:

His backstory in general. He remembers he has a family back in Siberia (for more context, they are just memories. BLU heavy isn’t related to heavy’s sisters or mom, nor does his family know of BLU heavy. BLU heavy just knows he has a family, that’s it) and he does care for them, however unlike RED heavy’s constant need to be supportive and the thing that protects others, BLU heavy is sure of himself that his sisters and mom could take care of themselves like he is with himself. He worries about him and him alone. Just the mentality he grew as he started living.

Now for the other reason.

He just doesn’t like his team. 💀

That’s it. He fucking can’t STAND them.

He doesn’t necessarily hate them let me rephrase….he just genuinely thinks they’re all pretty insufferable and would rather stand in the corner and act like a pillar than talk to any of them and potentially start an argument. The entire BLU team is a RECK with mentally unstable men and BLU heavy would rather keep to himself than deal with their bullshit.

He doesn’t SAY or speak up about the fact he finds them all annoying, he just stays quiet and that’s that. But the others don’t mess with him mainly cuz, one, he’s a big fucking guy, and two cuz he doesn’t cause any problems so they don’t have a reason to really pick at him.

However that doesn’t mean heavy has his opinions on THEM. Specifically however, the people he CAN tolerate are the order of Engineer, Pyro, Soldier and Medic. Engineer cuz he realizes he’s a decent man, he just doesn’t have a spine. Soldier because he yells a lot and is loud, but he means well, and he does a lot to protect his team, Heavy respects that. Pyro because—well everyone else tolerates pyro as well considering pyro keeps to himself all the time. He really would prefer to watch paint dry just cuz he chooses to. No one messes with pyro cuz pyro ain’t much. And medic? Medic has the fiercest anger issues known to man and is quite literally insufferable as hell, but heavy’s very patient with medic cuz medic DOES have good ideas, it’s just nobody listens to him. Medic in turn finds Heavy tolerable, but that doesn’t mean he likes him. Vice versa with heavy and you have two co-workers who tolerate each other’s presence.

But with everyone else? Heavy has strong opinions. The strongest one being Sniper…..Now Heavy once again isn’t talkitive, keeps to himself and only himself, but he’ll be damned if he doesn’t stay away from sniper cuz he genuinely feels SUPER uncomfortable with him. And heavy’s a big guy—he can absolutely win in a fight against sniper physically—but he just…doesn’t like him. At all. Sniper is the HUGEST red flag to heavy.

You ever have that feeling towards someone who, hasn’t necessarily done anything bad? Like they haven’t done anything despicable so you don’t have a reason to really hate them, but you just have that feeling in your gut something ain’t right about them? That’s what heavy feels towards sniper. It’s REALLY strong. He REALLY doesn’t like him and prefers to stay as far away as possible from sniper. Heavy doesn’t say anything, but he definitely says it with body language.

TLDR: Heavy keeps to himself, due to mentality, and also because the BLU team are collective morons.

Whats your favorite kind of four whump?

Ooohhh… haha wow… that’s actually kind of difficult to answer, let me think…

I like to read all sorts of fics I can get my hands on, so I like all sorts of whumpy fics too. So it’s actually really tough to decide on a specific type…/trope. And I don’t have any fic examples in mind from the top of my head. I like to read from mild to all kinds of extreme. From physical injury, purposeful harm/torture, kidnapping, drugging, etc. whatever you can think of and also mental/emotional pain (though I suppose that’s angst, isn’t it?) So honestly? All goes. I like seeing that descriptive, painful language, I like reading about that nauseating fear and when the author can make me squeamish. Of course that’s not for everyone…but me? I do enjoy it.

So it kinda depends on my mood and the authors execution, though i wouldn’t consider myself all too picky…I guess it’s kind of strange to admit to a bunch of people here that the idea of my fav getting injured in all sorts of horrific ways is…exciting, endearing and very fun but I’d be very much lying in denying that. I think you can understand ,right? Aha. Oops. Yep. Four dislodges his leg and gets stabbed and then also gets a Migraine and kicked in the head and then we put him in a bag and throw him off a spiky cliff to see what happens thunk thunk splash and I get up from my seat start clapping in the theatre in a standing ovation. kino

I suppose a lot of the appeal for me here lies in how unusual these situations feel for him specifically as well. Four is someone who keeps to himself greatly, he gets along well with everyone, but he’s not…close with any specific chain member from what we’ve seen. He says what he thinks for sure and has confidence in his actions, though he doesn’t actually show his vulnerable sides, and he tends to compartmentalize himself. So he (usually, not always) appears calm, cool and collected, acting as a neutral force. He’s kind of mysterious to the others, in a way? Most importantly he’s probably one of the Links who is the most, methodical, careful and thoughtful. I wouldn’t put it past him to have a lot pride in that.

By throwing him into these unpredictable scenarios situations, you can really cut him open and rip a lot of varied anguish out of him (and those that surround him)! The clash of that is a huuuge appeal. Sooo…

TLDR basically: I don’t have a specific favorite type of whump. I like all sorts of Four-Pain. He’s the chain member I like whumping most. Woe is my fav. From accidental injury, to kidnapping, torture, to emotional angst…yep, haha. good luck

Surprisingly enough while I love all sorts of whump, I tend to avoid MCD in most whump since it’s not as satisfying to me…

Whump is pretty exciting for me, so I can go for anything…!

I saw a post you reblogged at some point about Fanny being stuck in a time loop and it got me thinking: if the main men (both protagonists and antagonists) of the different Austen novels time travelled back to the day they first met their love interest/the start of the novel - whichever is latest so wentworth, knightley, and Edmund Bertram would travel to the day the main events of their novels start - who do you think would end up changing the least of the events and the most (intentionally or not)?

Because I feel like Knightley would change the least and Henry Tilney and the three S&S gents would come next. But like Wentworth would immediately throw the entire novel off track and like Darcy and Henry Crawford would come in close second trying to change their truly awful first impressions

This is a fascinating idea. Here are my thoughts:

Wentworth just marches into Uppercross Cottage and proposes again. Doesn't even wait to be properly introduced to the family. He's getting Anne back NOW. (She says yes, of course)

I can imagine Darcy having a tiny little crisis as he decides if he really wants to be married to Elizabeth, maybe he could just not accompany Bingley to Netherfield and his life could go the way he planned... nah, he can't resist. Off to Netherfield he goes and he lets Bingley introduce him to Elizabeth at the assembly ball. Things progress unimpeded and by Christmas there is a double wedding and Wickham's character is known throughout Hertfordshire. He skips town and Lydia is packed off to Pemberley to benefit from some better society. (Side note: Mrs. Bennet would push Mr. Collins on Mary if she had any inclination that Darcy liked Elizabeth).

If Bingley knew everything, he'd never leave Jane. He'd return from London and marry her, no matter what Darcy or his sisters said. (I wrote that once actually)

Does Wickham count as a main? Because I don't want him having the ability to predict the future. Yikes on bikes!

Henry Crawford is very interesting, because does he actually understand where he went wrong? I'm not sure he does. Can he resist a flirtation with two very pretty sisters? That would be a fun fan fiction to write. Because if he went for Fanny right off the bat and she knew nothing else about him... he'd probably succeed with her, secret Edmund love or not. And she certainly wouldn't have a leg to stand on in refusing his proposal.

Does Edmund come back in the same timeline as Henry? That would be so agnsty! If not, he'd probably be doing whatever he could to keep Maria and Henry apart, but he's shockingly ineffective in canon, so would he even be able to change anything?

Henry Tilney would probably just try to prevent Catherine being sent home alone. He could easily come back early.

Mr. Knightley's best move would be to tell Robert Martin to propose in person. I doubt Harriet could have resisted. Then he could just sit back and watch everything else play out.

Honestly, I don't know if Frank Churchill would change a thing, other than making sure his final letter was posted to Jane. He enjoyed the subterfuge.

Poor Edward Ferrars has to travel back while engaged to Lucy? I feel like he wouldn't even want to relive the novel, there is nothing he can do anyway.

In Geoscar who fell first vs who fell harder?

Oscar fell first. George fell harder.

Oscar fell first.

For me, Oscar has always been aware of George in some kind of capacity. He was in George’s Instagram Likes a lot during 2016-2018 (don’t ask me how I know this. I was looking for something and then got sidetracked seeing Oscar in George’s likes and then decided to check every single one he did. I’m not proud of it sdksks. It was a day. To be fair, it was long time ago during my uni break but still.) Anywho, I think Oscar has always just had some kind of curiosity towards George. An intrigue. Most of it started because of racing. Oscar watching George’s drive, his raw talent, his ambition. Mind you, he even tweeted about George’s Spa lap 2021 (for some reason it’s not letting me link it to the actual tweet so you can stuck with this post. sorrryyyy)

And then, the curiosity shifts when he joins f1. They are running in the same circle because of Lando and Logan so the closed proximity helps. They become friendly enough that Oscar is making fun of George’s T-pose (here, here) and teasing George about the hair.

Eventually, geoscar are doing things on their own (flying together, playing padel together). During all this, Oscar’s feelings change. It’s quiet for him but not subtle that Oscar doesn’t notice his own feelings. He does. I personally love to think that Oscar is aware his feelings are changing for George and he just lets it. He just lets himself fall in love with George more and more because George is worth it.

George fell harder.

Now this is where it gets interesting. Because it’s not like George was unaware of Oscar either. There’s a clip from a podcast where Geoege reveals he met Oscar in the toilets in 2020. And in 2021, he tweeted congratulations to Oscar for winning f2. He is not completely oblivious. He knows who Oscar is.

But the level of awareness? The depth of curiosity? Not the same as Oscar’s.

This isn’t that George loves Oscar more. It’s more about the pace of falling in love and the intensity. It’s not gradual like Oscar’s over the years. It’s a zero brakes falling. It knocks him off balance. He’s all in from the moment he falls. He’s suddenly seeing meaning in every look, rethinking every conversation, overanalysing every moment shared. He is wrecked more and completely undone by the realisation.

Oscar falls in love with quiet consistency over the years, something that’s sitting in the background. He is just waiting for George to catch up.

George falls like a sudden downpour in the middle of summer. One second he’s dry, and the next he’s soaked through, completely unprepared, and it’s too late to run for cover.
