absolutely not 😭 iri I have no idea how you do it but my hand cramps so bad after writing for 10 minutes like ??

I will say, though, wayyy back in 6th I had this notebook that I wrote the cringiest fanfics in, like I'm ngl they were kind of risque why tf would I put it in physical writing ???? 😟😟 anyways I would never be able to do it now, I would just have to pass on my fanfiction verbally like my ancestors did 😞

honestly I do not write consistently enough to have an actual writing workspace, it always changes depending on where I am. like sometimes I'm at school IN CLASS, or in the library, or on a couch, or in the car, or at my desk (but I usually feel like it's harder to write at my desk because it feels more forced than if I was writing spontaneously when I actually had inspiration)

back during covid, I was a much more consistent writer, and I would fr take like 2 or 3 hours a day to just write 😭😭 I wish I could do that now lmao, but school is saying no 🙁 but yeah back during the pandemic, my writing workspace was in my room, I had my laptop hooked up to a monitor and I would put on an instrumental playlist to get myself in the mood and then just write. my window was usually open but it never let enough light in so I also had my overhead light on. also my room was literally wallpapered in bts posters so if I ever needed a break, I would just lie on my bed and stare at the pictures ajdbakdbk

26. How do you get into your character’s head? How do you get out? Do you ever regret going in there in the first place?

basically just self project as much as possible 😭 umm let me give you an example, like for my sick fic, I was writing in link's perspective, and he's very sick. so I was trying to think of times I've been sick or mentally not present, and I tried to channel those hazy emotions into the beginning of the story. I also thought of how I would like to be taken care of if I was sick and then made that happen for link 🤭 it was vv therapeutic tbh

I'll be honest, depending on what the fic is about, it ends up being based on a lot of my own experiences. a year ago I was not having a Good Time so I decided to write a mdzs fic where lan wangji went through about the same stuff that I was going through. but to do that, I had to take my mindset back way further to like late elementary school/early middle school, which honestly brought up some not so great memories for me. it was tough to write the fic! and I never did finish it, and I probably never will, because I'm just not in that headspace that I was in at the time of starting the fic

as for getting out of the headspace of my characters, I sort of do a detox from whatever media I was writing for ajsbsjfn 😭 like for mdzs, I wouldn't consume any content for it for a day or two, for bts I wouldn't watch any of their videos, for botw I didn't play for a couple days. it helps a lot!

This is probably going to come as a huge shock, but I have literally never thought about this pairing until like ten minutes ago. There is no world in which I think Rei and Takagi would or could end up together. So I don't ship it.

But it would be funny, though. Even if it means breaking up the one singular good het pairing in the series. Sorry, Satou, your man's been snapped up by the local waiter/undercover cop.

What would have made you like it?

I think I'd need Takagi to be a little less... uh. Takagi. He's way too nice, it would never work out. And Rei would scare him death. They wouldn't last. Maybe they'd just have a brief, hot fling or something.

Knowing me, I could have a whole au cooked up for them in a few days with the right motivation.

Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?

I think if they could work on any fundamental level, then Takagi would make a great househusband for him.... eventually. He's kind of a work in progress.

They are certainly not the worst Rei pairing to ever exist.

I could really spend a lot of time answering this since like, most of my characters are like, more or less, explicitly cobbled together from different media sources, often intentionally but occasionally one completely throws me off when I recognize it and I realized this morning that like, down to manipulating the school records, Iris is just stoner Ferris Bueller (+6 points to Whimsy).

Hi! I don't mind, just lemme scrape my brain real quick (so many thoughts).

Honestly, the Dying of the Light AU has been giving me some issues as far as the ending goes, but other than that, I have a few ideas.

This got. so long. so, again, there's a break put in place further down.

We're dragging Kyurem into this, first of all

after Emmet "snaps," you could call it, and completely loses control of his powers, Reshiram amplifies it to the point of halting the ongoing autumn, replacing it with summer-like heat and causing a massive drought that starts to spread out from its epicenter around Nimbasa/Route 4

Once Reshiram's involvement is confirmed, it's decided that the other dragons will be brought into this

Ingo, chosen by Ideals, will pursue Zekrom, and hopefully that will help tip the scales in his favor, helping him root out the deceit Reshiram speaks of and reinstating Truth without Unova crumbling

Iris and Drayden both go after Kyurem, and do eventually find it; however, Kyurem will only help them if they give it something in return

They both wind up being roped into a bond with it, agreeing to give it their time and attention, which it seeks after a long time hidden away from people and its own siblings

The intent is to essentially use Kyurem's ice and cold to combat Reshiram's heat -- winter is summoned against summer, and the result is a sort of flaky half-season, somewhat like spring and autumn at the same time, though the cold is more extreme around Kyurem's location and the heat is more extreme around Reshiram's location

Content warnings for burns, claustrophobia, and possession under the cut! And thank you very much again for the ask, Anon! I hope you have a very good day! ^^

In Reshiram's defense, Emmet can't be trusted to not run off and mess up its plans, so. yeah

Also, speaking with mortals is far easier when one has the approximate appearance of a mortal so there's that too

Zekrom doesn't so much as possess Ingo as it does reside within him/follow him around. It will speak through him at times, and certainly bolster him, but it rarely if ever just up and snatches his body to go do something

Kyurem does not care about possessing people it just wants a friend and thinks its siblings are being overly dramatic

I somewhat implied it in And Learn, too Late, but the twins actually have a few dislikes/phobias related to their respective Dragons! Ingo dislikes having his Ideals and intentions restricted, and has a mild case of claustrophobia; this is mean to reflect Zekrom's weakness to ground, as being enclosed makes Ingo feel restricted and like he's being put under pressure (i.e., a coffin or being entombed) Emmet's aversions are more prominent due to the strength of Reshiram's gift/influence on him; detecting deceit and lies makes him feel physically ill, and he has a severe aversion to deep water and pouring rain

Drayden and Iris don't really have any issues after they connect with Kyurem, as their dynamic with the Dragon differs from the twins' and their respective Dragons; it's more of a mutual agreement that they're bound to, rather than a direct piece of power being imbued as a gift and a connection

Going off of this logic and that of the above point, I suppose that that would mean that after Ingo finds Zekrom and his own gift is strengthened, he would have worse claustrophobia

Similar to the accident that happened in Iced Tracks, Emmet accidentally hurt Ingo when they were little; only, in this case, it involved fire, and Ingo's clothes caught, leading to pretty severe burns on his arm, side, and part of his jaw; they healed well, but the trauma of the situation combined with him passing out made him forget :< Emmet had no such "luck," he just dead-up remembers ("Dragons, Truth irrefutable, Truth before him, he knew how skin melted," from The Sun in Flight)

Emmet is not immune to his own powers, though the worst damage is done when it manifests physically, such as when he forms flames or embers

Much of the damage that he's unintentionally inflicted on himself comes from accidentally setting his cuffs on fire, burning his wrists and arms, or from conducted heat searing his palms when he's holding something

He doesn't wear gloves anymore

He doesn't leave fingerprints anymore, either

(He's not made to contain so much power, he's kindling for a pyre he has no choice but to light, and only the power of Reshiram itself can keep him safe from its own curse of a gift)

On a lighter note, someone asked in a comment on The Sun in Flight if Emmet wore gloves or not, and if his powers affected his clothes since he can burn things so easily

For the sake of his decency -- and my sanity -- I'm basically handwaving the matter of his powers not just burning off all his clothes as magical interference; if his cuffs caught, maybe it could spread if he let it, but that would also hurt, so he doesn't

This being said, though, Reshiram basically fireproofs his body when its possessing him

And with that being said, I couldn't resist this entirely silly mental image: Reshiram: ugh, mortal's clothes are so restricting, why do you even bother with such a nuisance -- Emmet: IF YOU BURN MY CLOTHES OFF AND MAKE ME RUN AROUND UNOVA NAKED I WILL PERSONALLY STRANGLE YOU YOU STUPID BALL OF FEATHERS

So Emmet gets to keep his clothes (thank goodness)

A number of responses flit through your head when they ask the question, ranging from ‘It’s nothing dear, don’t trouble yourself,’ to ‘Oh you're one to talk!’

You choose neither of those, not really wanting to deflect but certainly not looking for conflict. You simply ask instead,

“Which time?”

When you first find your way into the world your eyes are brown. They take in the sights of the land as you cross it on foot and in your boat. They see the staircase in flickering blue flames as you descend to the depths of the earth and then further still, far below. They’re still brown as you fall, as the wind does nothing to catch you, filling your ears with whispers.

When you wake up in bed, your eyes are a purple so deep they could blend in with the Void below the ground. They stay purple as you flee to the edge of the world, they stay dark as you dig and dig and dig. You forget that your eyes used to be the same color as the dirt you spend day and night shoveling away, soon only ever knowing the deep color now set in your irises.

That color follows you from world to world, never shifting. Until, suddenly, one changes. Purple transforms to sickly cyan to match the parasite clinging to your arm. You feel the pit in your stomach twist as it glows in time with the sculk that's twisted its way through your skin, branching all the way up your neck. A single tendril has curled its way up to press against your left eyelid. You wonder when it'll finally slip under and take another piece of you for itself.

You try to forget it, ignore it, find something else to set your worries onto, which of course leads you again to the bottom of the world. The sounds of pistons and levers and TNT fill your ears as you both dig and dig and dig. Void clears away the debris as you try to pick bits of bedrock out of your nails, when you both fall silent. Wind rushes up through the hole in the bottom of the world.

You both jump, even though there's still more to clear away. You've waited so long to fall like this again that you just can't stand another moment without it. You keep your eyes open as the ground rushes away from you far above, as wind rushes up to claim you again. But there's still more to break, so you have to be satisfied with just once for now.

You can't stay away for long. You fall again and again, your death count creeping higher and higher until it's at a number you know you can't come back from. And still, you fall.

You don't know when the change happened this time. Maybe it was gradual, maybe it was sudden, but your right eye has changed to something you don't recognize. The iris seems a brighter purple now, but that might just be how it looks against the deep black sclera. It's shocking when you first catch a glimpse of your reflection in the glass you're placing, but you're slowly getting used to the sight.

Your eyes will surely change again before you leave this world behind like the other's, so you take it in stride. You're nearly curious what will happen to them next.

Iris and Caitlin for the character opinion bingo?

I had to use purple lightning for her bingo markers. Hehehe

So Iris is a character I have sooooo many strong opinions about because of how the narrative treats her. I think she deserves so much better than she gets, especially given how canon doesn't really seem to know what it's doing with her sometimes. And unfortunately there's a swath of fandom that hates her for being the black love interest of a white man, whether they want to admit that's their reason for hating her or not.

I wish she got more focus not just on her personal life but on her work. Iris' job as an investigative journalist was a deep well of interesting plot lines but even when the show did attempt to dip into that well... they wound up sidelining Iris in the mirror world or making her writing the sort of after-event round up. The Central City Citizen's shift from being a small start up to a big name with big offices happened off screen between seasons.

Anyway, I would have the biggest squish on her if she were a real person I knew. I wanna give her so many hugs when bad things happen to her. (Especially after Eddie died and later when Barry gets temporarily imprisoned in the speed force.) Of course I also like putting her in the Situations with the Bad Things. So. I can at least make others give her the hugs.

If canon didn't know what to do with Iris then it really didn't know what to do with Caitlin. To the point that she's basically written out of two seasons so that two different alters can front her body in her place. And their inability to write her a love interest post Ronnie without screwing it up somehow (evil, no chemistry, thank god Danielle put her foot down, no chemistry again... and finally evil fake Ronnie) was just... I mean I guess it was good for me as it played into my arospec and acespec headcanons for her but how badly do you have to fail to understand your own character to put her on a shelf for a season twice???

Honestly while I enjoy Frost as a separate character from Caitlin, I still lament the fourth season retcon that made them split personalities and not just how Caitlin was with her powers activated. Caitlin ended S3 with so much promise for her next character arc as somewhere between anti-hero and anti-villain and... the retcon robbed us - robbed her.

And of course Caitlin has her fandom haters. But I think what's worse are her 'fans' who prop her up by tearing Iris down. And... if you can only raise up your fav by tearing some other character down then do you actually like that 'fav' or do you just like tearing the other character down?

3. Are they into PDA? Who initiates most?

At first it's Iris! She is a very physical person, very lovey and very expressive about it. By the time they have their first kiss and it hits very hard that they are in love with each other, once she can have him it's all over. That man is going to be spoiled rotten with her love every chance she gets.

Cybill matches her energy very well, he is just as mushy gushy as she is, but it takes him a while to realize he's allowed to be that way.

From being in his vault, he has some preconceptions of what is socially acceptable, and being with Iris pulls him out of that. He becomes just as expressive as she is and much less worried about what other people think.

I cannot stress enough that once they are together, the jaws of life cannot pry them apart. Literally a package deal, do not separate. They may or may not become a bit shameless over just how affectionate they're willing to be anywhere and everywhere. Hoo boy. But they very much enjoy so much soft intimacy as well. Catch them standing around holding hands, being all close, Cybill resting his head on Iris's shoulder, whispering sweet nothings to each other, finding so so much comfort in each other.

Being together genuinely helps both of them so much. Obvs there is so much to get into there regarding their stories before they meet and once their paths becomes one. But plenty of friends have read what we have of their PDF so far and can attest to just how deeply their love for each other runs and the lengths they are always willing to go to to take care of each other.

36. Who is more protective?

That's the million dollar question isn't it? They are both really fucking protective of each other, not to mention how protective they are of June and Henry.

Realistically, Iris is the stronger one of the two of them and is more capable of doing the defending. But, to revisit what was mentioned above, Cybill's time in the vault has left him with a certain mindset regarding traditional gender roles within a marriage. He'll feel like it's his job to be The Man Of The House, and is likely to throw himself into danger to protect his family.

As protective as he is, it still doesn't change the fact that my sweet baby boy isn't the strongest lad and is a popsicle stick of a man ✌️😔 and, such is often the way, he needs Iris to help protect him. Which she does, and always will. She loves him, she would do anything to keep him safe. If he gets hurt, she will always be there to take care of him, patch him up, kiss him better.

That isn't to say he should ever be underestimated. In both of their cases, they can be pushed hard enough to the point you'll find out just how fucking vicious they can be. Yes, for each other, absolutely. If their sweetie is in immediate danger, there will be no hesitation to keep them safe at whatever the cost. But when it comes to the babies, if June and Henry are threatened in any way, you aren't living to see the light of day. Would you rather be torn apart by the lifetime's worth of pent up blind rage mama bear or her feral little rat husband who will probably tear you to shreds with his bare teeth and eat you 🔍🤨 either way, they're probably going to have both Overreacted™️ and walk away drenched in blood.
