Do you have a specific watercolor brush pack that you use? I really love your textures

i use the lasso tool on the Sketches app on an ipad! specifically the 5th watercolor pattern:

and since others have asked, i’ll mention that for lineart ive usually used the 1st ink brush or the lasso tool’s 4th paint pattern:

but lately i’ve been using a custom brush i made on procreate, and i’ll export the procreate lineart to the sketches app and color it there with the watercolor lasso.

here’s some examples: the watercolor layers on their own without the lineart, the basic ink brush with watercolor coloring, the paint pattern lasso as lineart with watercolor coloring, and the paint pattern of the lasso tool only:

i'm not sure if this helps at all but this is a general palette of what i use when coloring (although i mostly just guess on colors, these are just the ones i use most often or like what i put down when im shading)

the blue accents i like rarely use, that's mostly when i try using blue hard light for accents (like in the killua drawing)

Hm, kind of a chicken-and-egg situation (do I write the story because of my fantasies or fantasize because I'm writing the story?) but I did just start playing around with an alien brood story so the most enduring image as of late has been breeding kink in an extremely industrialized/dehumanizing setting. Just endless rows of women in machines, their every vital sign controlled, kept in a perpetual state of contentment and arousal as they produce "stock" for a faceless, monstrous alien regime. Forever blank and drooling. They'll never see the sun again (assuming they were not born for this purpose in the first place). Ahem. With tentacles. Ahem-ahem.

ColdFlash:

Barry is feeling down and suddenly oh no. Captain Cold is stealing from a jewelry store/museum/whatever. The Scarlet Speedster must surely stop him... sure there's a lot of verbal flirting involved, witty repartee and puns flying around. But it's the gesture itself. Barry knows Len's doing this to cheer him up and if that doesn't say I love you then no crime possibly could.

Meanwhile Barry has absolutely also stolen things to cheer Len up. It started with stealing Len's stuff and being rewarded like a cute puppy but it has evolved into them occasionally stealing stuff together. And Team Flash just goes 'I pretend I cannot see and it is not happening'.

Harrisco:

Harry really likes to brush Cisco's hair and then braid it for him. Especially once he let's it go past shoulder length. There's something really comforting about the whole experience for both of them and it's kind of a big deal in that it's Harry asking for something he wants and then being very gentle about it. And then Cisco trusting Harry with his hair which is... not something he really allows to someone he isn't in love with.

Hartmon:

Cisco likes to dress Hartley up in his t-shirts, something Hartley has accepted as gracefully as he can. It helps that the t-shirts are actually really comfy and soft and worn in and smell like Cisco. It eventually becomes Hartley outright stealing Cisco's clothes to wear when he wants to feel comforted/closer to Cisco which, of course, absolutely delights Cisco to no end.

Cisco eventually started stealing Hartley's clothes too. They might be more formal/less whimsical but they were warmer for winter and also soft and worn in and smell like Hartley, which was a bit like getting to have a hug from Hartley all day.

They both know it's something they do because they love each other and so when one of them is committing clothes theft the other feels loved just seeing this. But also knows that the other perhaps needs more feelings of love and support today too.

8. One of the songs I've really been spinning my head lately is "labour" by Paris Paloma. It has such a quality of rage to it, as well as so much rich imagery, and I think a lot could be done with it. I don't think I'd do it with KotLC, since the experience described in the song is so specifically and vividly human, but some story is out there just waiting for it, I know it.

12. I honestly didn't used to really like human AUs! I like playing with the canon setup and character backgrounds, and it also felt a bit oversaturated to me as a trope. But even though it's generally still not my default to write, human AUs have really grown on me as something to read! My horizons have been expanded with all the fun things you can do with them.

lol ok, there is not much to these two rn, fair warning Basically I saw people coming up their version of LMK character designs and then I really wanted to come up with one for Macaque, but since I can't draw at a level that does the design justice, I just decided to write a story where Macaque has that design. As for the premise; basically MK and Bai He take Macaque to a Journey To The West themed Chuckie Cheese type place and Macaque gets into a fight with the pilgrim animatronics that entertain kids there.

As for the fake dating thing: basically I really wanted to write something where Wukong and Spider Queen are best friends (because I love them as friend) but then I added ✨drama ✨ by having them fake date because SQ is a closeted lesbian and doesn't want her parents to question why she's still single and Wukong's just a really solid bestie. And then something something endgame ships are shadowpeach and Spider Queen x Scorpion Queen because those are my two brainrot ships :P

Hoooo boy, my blog is very disorganized and Tumblr's lack of search function does not help matters. I had all my tags up in my pinned at some point, but then they just... decided to stop working??? So I gave up on having a streamlined tagging system. Gods know I tried.

I do tend to tag my art and fic as original things, maybe that might help! And I recently introduced an age gap ship tag for Emmrook and magister Alexius (and some other stuff), for the sake of my friend who does not enjoy such things so that they can filter them out; but if you are drawn to such things instead, it might also be a good place to look!

for real though, I think forts would be pretty alright on a pirate ship. He’s good at adapting to new environments, the only thing he couldn’t do is go swashbuckling because he faints at the sight of blood. As for Lysander... you know those posts about how takis or some shit would kill a Victorian child? He’s the Victorian child they’re talking about. He also will not under any circumstances consume alcohol which is like half the joy of being a pirate. He does get points for being physically strong and good in a fight though. In a pirate au hed be a textbook “guy from the navy that we kidnapped and forced to join our crew”

I do think forts would be a swallowtail butterfly because they symbolize freedom and stuff and also forts’s whole story is very butterfly effect coded. And they’re pretty. When he did meditate, he found himself bored and wishing he could do saber forms with Baxia instead very shortly.

His wait wasn’t very long, fortunately. Just long enough to get Nie Mingjue squirmy, to make him flex his jaw repeatedly in anticipation for what was to come. He came with enough regularity that there were others who gravitated toward the back rooms during the time he was there.

That, too, was a source of shame, that he was indecent with such predictability. If his da-ge could see him, Nie Mingjue was sure that he would earn one of those supremely unimpressed looks that he sometimes doled out. Worse, Nie Mingjue would have disappointed his da-ge on a level that he can only scarcely imagine. Nie Huaisang kept his dalliances private and within their sphere—to go and whore himself out like this made Nie Mingjue infinitely worse, in his own mind.

"Both. Kinda" I use both forms for different reasons and inevitable outcomes. Typically traditional in the form of ink, watercolour, or pastel are reserved for the truly emotional pieces of work I do. The material and the inability to truly erase mistakes brings out a raw and often deeply introspective. The creation process with traditional is far more cathartic in my opinion due to the hands-on-ness, and often I go this route if I truly need to destress and relax. However, digital art is the medium I am most experienced in. So, if I am not looking for the process of creation, and simply wish for the outcome, I will go towards digital. Nothin' beats a sparklecat for the soul sometimes.

"Warm, I think. I try to experiment with colours usually." I genuinely tend to leave things colourless (when not experimenting) or a direct rep of how I want the thing perceived. Such as an exact colour of the character I am drawing just shifted to fit a cold toned environment. Though, it seems I tend to lean towards warmer tones?

I don't know haha. Cyrus is very different from the type of characters that I like (Giovanni is more like my archetype of fave XD) but with Cyrus a big part of why I like him so much as a character has to do with Pokespe and his interactions with Diamond and how he developed in the story (that part where he throws fists with the fucking champion and then the gym leaders is awesome). Also, because in games there is not a lot of info about him (only enough to understand his context) there are many ways to interpret him and I think other games (USUMO and pokemas) did a great job with his character. I love him, he is my boy 💙

8. What's something the fandom does when it comes to this character that you despise?

Hmmm I don't like it when he is represented as a victim 🤔. Like yeah it sucks his parents neglect him, but it also sucks to have the emotions of people erased because the dude can't deal with his emotions. I could also say I don't like how sometimes people underestimate how far he is willing to go just to do what he wants, he is not a good person. But that also depends on which version of Cyrus we are talking about

I was going to say I don't know, but then I remembered Hajime Saito from Rurouni Kenshin, they are so similar in the way they act so cold and indifferent towards their enemies-made friends by certain circumstances, and they say they won't help them, but help them anyway (at least pokemas cyrus). He also reminds me of Piccolo in that way too

And I need to ask you this about Ganondorf:

Oh I was like 11 or 12 yo when I first played OoT, and that was my first Zelda game. I remember the scene where he is riding the black horse through the fucking flames and I was like "Wow how extra. Who's that guy". He is been my favorite Zelda character since then. Also, the scene were he get out from all the castle hubris and transforms into ganon is so damn cool. Also, his voice in oot was so cool too, is my fave ganondorf voice, even if he doesn't have lines haha.

Iris and Caitlin for the character opinion bingo?

I had to use purple lightning for her bingo markers. Hehehe

So Iris is a character I have sooooo many strong opinions about because of how the narrative treats her. I think she deserves so much better than she gets, especially given how canon doesn't really seem to know what it's doing with her sometimes. And unfortunately there's a swath of fandom that hates her for being the black love interest of a white man, whether they want to admit that's their reason for hating her or not.

I wish she got more focus not just on her personal life but on her work. Iris' job as an investigative journalist was a deep well of interesting plot lines but even when the show did attempt to dip into that well... they wound up sidelining Iris in the mirror world or making her writing the sort of after-event round up. The Central City Citizen's shift from being a small start up to a big name with big offices happened off screen between seasons.

Anyway, I would have the biggest squish on her if she were a real person I knew. I wanna give her so many hugs when bad things happen to her. (Especially after Eddie died and later when Barry gets temporarily imprisoned in the speed force.) Of course I also like putting her in the Situations with the Bad Things. So. I can at least make others give her the hugs.

Now for...

Caitlin

The closest MS Paint was coming to blue snowflakes for her bingo markers.

If canon didn't know what to do with Iris then it really didn't know what to do with Caitlin. To the point that she's basically written out of two seasons so that two different alters can front her body in her place. And their inability to write her a love interest post Ronnie without screwing it up somehow (evil, no chemistry, thank god Danielle put her foot down, no chemistry again... and finally evil fake Ronnie) was just... I mean I guess it was good for me as it played into my arospec and acespec headcanons for her but how badly do you have to fail to understand your own character to put her on a shelf for a season twice???

Honestly while I enjoy Frost as a separate character from Caitlin, I still lament the fourth season retcon that made them split personalities and not just how Caitlin was with her powers activated. Caitlin ended S3 with so much promise for her next character arc as somewhere between anti-hero and anti-villain and... the retcon robbed us - robbed her.

And of course Caitlin has her fandom haters. But I think what's worse are her 'fans' who prop her up by tearing Iris down. And... if you can only raise up your fav by tearing some other character down then do you actually like that 'fav' or do you just like tearing the other character down?
