i dont think its funny. we should hold the cc's accountable for this season. the real challenge is sobriety and yet grian "rewards" players for breaking it. ive already messaged grian on twitter and hope to post a response soon.

theyre encouraging some really bad habits and if they wanted to tell a story of addiction and recovery then grian is failing on all aspects. impulse said on stream the unmarked pills were taking a toll on his body but since they all signed an extremely aggressive contract so he has no choice. mumbojumbo put all of his sponsored ads in the first episode because he knew it would be impossible to get a pg rating going forward. i have a theory this is the last season... because just look at the trajectory. unsustainable.

if you want a REAL challenge: everytime impulse does a line you must add one more block to your morning jog. make rehab scared of your improvement

Yes, Sebastian's romance and story line are very limited!! He was supposed to be base game with a lot more content but if you look into Mark Darrah's DA2 commentary and interviews/press videos from someone I'll mention in a second, you can tell why they had to cut a character heavily and other content too, and make Sebastian into a DLC. The game was rushed by EA, which I believe, but it is interesting to know that the way BioWare worked is that they'd work on multiple games and release them very close to one another (and this was even before EA). A DLC was also being worked on at the same time as the base game (MoTA), probably because they were fans of her and because she asked them to be in the game.

It really does feel like Sebastian is missing content. He doesn't become a full companion until Act 2, and in Act 1 he has such a good introduction.

Like, I think that's the thing: I like Sebastian as a concept. I think him being so brainwashed involved in the chantry, and that he comes from Starkhaven royalty, makes him interesting when thrown into the mix of our other companions... but then I actually have him in my party while playing and I'm like, "........oh yeah, I don't like you very much."

He can be funny sometimes, and insightful. Like I don't hate him, I just... tend to forget he exists until it's time to do his quests. Then I remember, "Oh right, shit, I was going to use you more...."

And his romance? Listen, I so badly want to understand the appeal because I know there are Sebastian romancers out there that swear by him and I can't tell if it's built on a foundation of headcanon or what. Seriously, if any of you are die hard Sebastian romancers, enlighten me on what makes him appealing to you. I'm genuinely curious.

Like, is it the prince thing? Is it the accent? Is it the religious trauma?

When it comes to DA romances, I can look at them all and understand why they'd be someone's favorite, y'know? Even if I wouldn't ever romance them myself. I get it, I see the appeal for other people... Except Sebastian. I just end up thinking why choose him when the other four exist? Unless you're doing a pro-templar pro-chantry run? Really, that's the only time where I think Sebastian is the perfect option.

I don't even think it's the lack of content compared to the others in DA2, though that is unfortunate. I think it's just... him. We don't vibe. Maybe it's the wee bit of religious trauma in me, or maybe it's because I usually romance Anders so in the end, Sebastian is always like, "Kill Anders or I'll bring an army down on Kirkwall >:[" and I'm like, "I hear you, but also piss off." Maybe I'm just salty about that.

Also, I don't like him and Bethany as a ship. I know she likes him, he's very handsome and he can say pretty things to her... but unlike with Carver and Merrill where I'm like, "Hey, you two should kiss," I'm actually spraying Sebastian with water and going, "Get away from her, get a job!"

I'm just saying, I don't care that he's a handsome prince, I think Bethany deserves better.

I don't know. If I were to do a tier list with all companions from all four games, Sebastian would probably end up in D tier for me... I forget about him, I don't like what I've seen of his romance, and he's just... not for me.

Tis I, the Luca Blight fucker, and by that I mean I love him so deeply he's such a mess I could never fix him and neither could anyone else and I love that for him. Unhinged to the extreme

It's like pet pay but completely non sexual and not even in a Soft Wholesome Ace Dom/Sub way you are just an object to him, at most an animal to his side, a beast he can toy with as he pleases. He is a spoiled 5 year old and you are the declawed kitten his daddy got him for Christmas. He will hold you, he will throw you, he will hurt you and love you and do as he pleases and you have no say in the matter.

The concept of Luca taking you around though, to villages he burns to see that you will never have an escape, to meetings to show how loyal everyone is to him, how total his control is, how guarded you are. You're not an example to them, they're an example to you. You have nothing else but him.

And he's not even holding you out of love, he doesn't even really force you to stay, at least to him. Sure your options are Stay or Die but it's not like he's actively gripping onto you or chaining you up at night. If you ran, and died by his guards, it would not affect him, thought he would have liked to do it himself, in the end it means nothing to him to see your corpse.

He'd be a perfect Yandere to write about but he doesn't even care about you. You are nothing to him, like everyone else is this putrid world he hates. He keeps you because you're mildly more amusing than the other pigs of the lands, because you committed to being a pig for him, because you chose to live in shame on all fours eating off the floor rather than die with your head held high.

You're like him in that way.

Which of your fics would you keep the basic plot of but rewrite completely?

Not to break anyone's heart but I would probably rewrite I Would Go Blind. When I wrote it, it was supposed to be a one off one shot and has since turned into a little series / universe situation. When I was working on Rid Me of the Blues I felt a little trapped having to follow along with the timeline and lore that had been established in it. For example, Fictional!Matty probably wouldn't have ended up in A&E for drug related reasons so many times... when I was working on Rid Me of the Blues it felt really repetitive, but alas I a had to follow what had already been established for continuities sake.

2. Anything that you'd like to write but feel like you're unable to?

I'm going to get yelled at for this one too, but honestly I wish I was more confident in my smut writing and that I could just write a super filthy fic without feeling like it was the most cliche, cringe thing ever 😂 Because despite my best efforts, I still feel like my smut is cringe. Maybe one day!

10. Top three favourite fic tropes.

Aw man only picking three?! I love omegaverse (shocker) there is just something about the power dynamic, and also the way that every author has their own interpretation of the concept that I really enjoy. Fake Dating just... makes me really happy and smiley because we KNOW that they're going to end up together. And lastly, I know it probably doesn't really count as a trope more of a theme but I'm counting it anyway: angst. I love angst, and pain, and suffering and misery and then finally making it to the happy other side.
