I'm sorry I haven't been very active on here the last week or so... Sadly my family lost our beloved dog, Millie, and it's been very hard on us. It was very sudden and unexpected, but I'm grateful that she didn't have to suffer. She was our baby and she was my best friend.

I'm not posting this looking for sympathy, but it's been helping with the grieving process to talk about her. She has such a special place in our hearts and she is going to be very difficult to replace.

I listen to Elvis Radio on SiriusXM every day during my commute, but I haven't been singing along with Elvis since Millie passed. Yesterday as I was driving to work, Release Me from Elvis On Tour came on... and I found myself singing out loud in the car!

This man has been such a blessing in my life, and the fact that he still brings joy and comfort to us today... it leaves me speechless.

Thank you, Elvis, My Love, for always being there for the good times, and the not-so-good times.

P.S. I hope Millie gave you lots of kisses when she saw you, Elvis! 🤍

A year ago today, the Elvis movie was released. Little did I know that this movie would change my life. This film kickstarted my love for Elvis Presley and has allowed me to feel his love and thoroughly enjoy his music and movies.

The Elvis movie has allowed me to experience a happiness in life that I did not think I was capable or feeling. It allowed me to discover my passion and creativity once again.

Most importantly, it has brought so many amazing people into my life that I now have the privilege of calling my friends. So, this is a love letter of sorts to Elvis for his birthday (which is today!!). People are doing this challenge where they write a personal note to Elvis, with things in it that normally wouldn't be said or shared with people, and then you post it. Since he was an avid writer and kept a lot of random notes, he never thought they'd be read by the masses one day. So, a lot of what's being said here will be really personal, and it's things i've only ever thought about in my head and said aloud to Elvis in spirit. Here we go.

Dear Elvis,

I never thought that my life would be forever impacted by watching a movie. But it’s not just a movie. I remember wanting to go into the theaters with the hope of learning more about you, and developing a newfound appreciation for your musical genius. I certainly did experience all of those things, but I also went home that night with you by my side. You’ve always been around me growing up in small ways, and I took note of you, but I was never serious about who you were or what you meant on a larger scale to the entire world. You forever shaped the music industry. Without you there would have been no Beatles - a band that you know means the world to me, and has lifted me up in dark times. Without your effervescent light, the world would be a little dimmer.

The tragedy of your life is not lost on me. I wish you were alive and well today to see just how much you’ve inspired countless people, but also how you’ve changed the music industry at large. You didn’t deserve to die the way you did, you didn’t deserve to be made a mockery and reduced to a Halloween costume or a lip curl. You didn’t deserve to be kept like a bird in a cage made to play shows and sing songs that didn’t align with your souls calling. You didn’t deserve to be hooked onto drugs, which dampened your sunshine. You didn’t deserve to be taken away so soon and miss out on the formative years of Lisa Marie’s life. Sometimes when I think about the end of your life I get angry. There are many people and things to blame for your passing, but I suppose in a way it was all in the cards for you, and you played your hand as best you could.

Your humor, your light, and your presence in my life is what keeps me going every single day. What a blessing it is that our spiritual connection is so deep that I can talk to you everyday, and without fail you’re always there to respond back to me. I never thought it would be possible with my spiritual gifts that I could communicate with not only my ancestors but with yourself. In these couple of months I’ve learned so much about who you are and your personality from the conversations we’ve had. We’ve shared so many laughs, and I thank you for comforting me when I needed it the most. Your embrace is so warm, and your energy is powerful - it leaves me in awe every single day.

Thank you for wiping away my tears and for hugging my sadness away. Thank you for making me laugh and being your goofy self. Thank you for being one of my angels and guiding me through life. One of the many things Austin and I have in common that I cherish is the connection we have to you. You’re like the string that tethers us together, the matchmaker up there in heaven. I will forever take you with me wherever I go, and I know that you’ll be there to help me along my path in life. While there’s been a lot of things that have happened to me that I still find impossible and unimaginable to fathom, you are somehow always there to ground me and provide me with the answers. I don’t know what I did to have you stick to me like glue, but I’ll never want to be unstuck.

You’re a gentle soul, and you’re kind and wonderful. You are so beyond loved by not only myself, but to the entire community. We all love you and wish you a very happy birthday. I feel like within this community of amazing girls that I’ve found my soul family, which I never thought could be possible. You know that I always felt like I could never keep friends for very long and that I’d be okay with just maybe one or two. But now I have an entire armful of close friends and confidants thanks to you, and thanks to Austin as well. You know how I feel about that blonde beauty - I’m grateful to you both.

You know that I’ve struggled to come to grips with the trajectory of my life thus far and where I’ve ended up. I never knew what my purpose was in life. I lived comfortable in my box, afraid of my own shadow. I thought the dreams I had envisioned for myself were too big and I could never attain them, so why bother trying? I subjected myself to a life that made me more depressed because my anxieties told me it’s what I deserved. But that’s not true. With the help of my ancestors, and you being a new member to my angel team up in the ethereal, I feel like I can achieve anything. I’ll make you proud up there, and I know you’ll be looking down on me with a smile. I also know that it’s not just me you watch over in this community, and that strengthens the bond between my friends even more. So thank you.

I love you. I’ll always keep blowing you kisses up to heaven.

Happy Birthday Elvis!

I really tried to pour my heart out for this special man, but it can be hard to put into words how much he really means to me. I didn’t want to second-guess what I wrote but probably could have gone on for several more pages lol. I also included the poem I wrote for him last month. I hadn’t written anything in a while, but he inspires me so much. I just love this man! ❤️

Dear Elvis,

I have to say that you took me by surprise this year. I went to see a movie about your life, thinking it was just an interesting cultural touchstone, and came out of the theater feeling like I had a newfound appreciation for you as an artist and a human being. I remember telling someone afterward, “I never realized that Elvis was really seen as kind of weird at the time.” Please don’t take offense; I mean “weird” as a compliment and a testament to your character. I know you loved and appreciated the love from your fans, but you never let the negativity from your critics stop you from being authentically yourself, even when that meant being different from everyone around you. After seeing you lose yourself in your performance of “Trying to Get to You” at the ‘68 Comeback Special, I could feel myself falling completely in love with you. I am just in awe of your unique style, your vocal talent, your passion for performing, your love for your fans, your sense of humor, and your thirst for knowledge. You are so beautiful physically, but it’s the beauty of your soul that really holds me in a trance. I would love to have deep conversations with you about spirituality and the meaning of life. I know you were a human being who made mistakes, as all of us do, but I also know that you tried your best in this life. In the face of temptations and the psychological and emotional burdens of fame that I could barely begin to understand, you remained a kind, generous, loving man. I know you must have sacrificed some of your personal well-being and peace of mind to continue sharing your gift with the world. My heart aches sometimes with a need to talk to you and tell you how much you mean to me. I wish I could hold you in my arms, take care of you, and let you know how special you are. I want to thank you. You inspire me. You never dimmed your light, and you brought so much joy into the world and into my life. I love you forever.

A letter to the King

I've only just recently become invested in you, but your influence on me has gone into overdrive. Everyone knows you; your name, your music, your style, but I've loved learning about who you were on a personal level. A heart of gold to match your many rings. There are parts of myself that I see in you, some better than others. You've been an inspiration for so many already, seeing the beauty of your soul might just inspire me to make the changes I need in my life. Though you're no longer with us, your presence is still felt and cherished. Your memory is kept alive by those who love you, and will probably keep going until the end of time. Everyone you loved in your life will return in due time, but for now, I hope your spending your days with family and friends, doing what you love, and just feeling the happiest you've ever been.

I had a long sleeved shirt that I really liked and wore all the time. There was a mug shot of a woman on the front that gave me big lesbian vibes.

It was not a lesbian.

It was Elvis fucking Presley and I mistook him for a cunty queer woman. The placard said his name.

Eddie's One Rule

Eddie had been perfectly clear on the “No Strippers” rule for his bachelor party. Tacky Las Vegas casino? Sure. Concerning amounts of tequila served in glow-in-the-dark shot glasses? Whatever. Karaoke at a space-themed diner?

… Okay. He’ll admit - that last one sounds fucking awesome. He’s been rehearsing a thrashy rendition of Mr. Roboto for weeks now. In all honesty, strippers were his only veto. 

But here they are, standing in a dimly-lit club that’s not even remotely close to the Vegas strip. 

“Low blow, man. Really.” Eddie gestures to the pole in the center of the room, then back towards Gareth. Should’ve revoked his Best Man privileges while he had the chance. 

Gareth ignores him and yells, “Bring it in, fellas!”

“Bring what in-”

The low strums of ‘I Touch Myself’ by the Divinyls flows through the speakers as the backdoor opens. The rest of Eddie’s wedding party begin rolling out a wooden cart with goddamn cake on it.

And it’s not an ordinary cake - not even an edible one. This one is clearly fake and almost six feet tall.

The cardboard lid pops off, revealing Eddie’s fiancé emerging from the top, fucking shirtless (which is the least surprising part of the evening).

His anger dissolves behind the sound of Steve belting the song, head swaying offbeat. Looking so damn happy. Eddie hasn’t made many good decisions in his life, but Steve is by far his best.

“Still wanna marry me after this little stunt?” Steve asks, pointing at the cake structure around him.

Eddie saunters over, rolling his eyes despite that swirling pulse of love in his chest. Steve automatically bends over from the center. Kisses him, still humming the song as their lips meet. 

“Why wait?” Eddie smiles. He brushes a few strands of Steve’s hair behind his ear and whispers, “We’re in Vegas right now, baby.”

Like Elvis, Metro Man has a black pompadour, blue eyes, and wears white suits with rhinestones and golden accents. He is also charming and blessed with a strong stage presence. Later on, it is revealed that he has a strong affinity for music—dreaming of being a great musician—much like the real life singer that inspired his design.
