I know. Me too. I’m upset at the Grammys with HMHAS. The Billie fandom right now is heartbroken. To me, it feels like the safety blanket we have with her has been ripped from us by the industry and it hurts. We love her, we’d do anything for her, she’s impacted our lives in ways we can’t even put into words. I know. I know. I’m so glad she became Number 1 in the world on Spotify. I’m so glad we’re seeing her get bigger and better every year. She deserves it. Yet, you can’t have all of that without its downsides.

I first entered the Billie fandom halfway in 2019 and WWAFAWDWG. She had her green roots at the time lol, and HTE was yet to be seen (my fav). HTE also deserved way more than what was witnessed at the time. HMHAS is a new level of Billie that is so unique at the age she is. HMHAS came at the perfect time for me (like so many), who needed to hear our voices be projected through her. I can never thank her enough for the difficult periods she has always helped me through.

I am really worried about our girl right now. So please please remember to not blur the Billie fandom into other ones. We all could probably name another artist we see with mistreated acknowledgment and missed titles to their name, Billie isn’t the first and won’t be the last. She still remains EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL. This gorgeous fandom brings more love than any Grammy will ever justify.

I know we love to gatekeep, or stay in a time where life was better, but these beloved people are growing in front of us just as much as we are, how cool is that. Music is here to help us, not break us apart.

I know it was different before, but her world has grown x10, the demand and boundaries are different now. I know this hurts for some, it hurts me too.

Yet, let this be a reminder for music and concert culture in general, that everyone is there to have a good time, and a safe time. Let’s include the artists with that mentality as well. Let’s give Billie the strength she needs to continue to be the best person we could ever love. I adore you all. I love you Billie. Here’s a toast to you and your beautiful soul 🥂. AOTY in my heart, always 💙.

IMPROMPTU FANFICTION TED TALK

I’m gonna address something that I have thought about recently and then also give a little pep talk to anybody else that might be feeling this way or in a similar way:

Fanfiction is a valid form of expression and it’s okay to write fanfiction, no matter your age, no matter your life circumstance!

Recently, I’ve had doubts about whether or not I should still be writing fanfiction. I’m in my second semester of college, pursuing film, and I have plenty of original stories (three novels, four screenplays) floating around in my head that I keep telling myself I should get back into. But I still find myself feverishly writing fanfiction and pouring heaps of creative energy into that. And especially with how much fucking fanfiction I’ve written in the past six months, (over 201,000 words worth) I’ve had tons of thoughts like:

“You’re pursuing your passions, looking toward the future into your career ambitions, AT COLLEGE, and you’re STILL writing fanfiction?”

“It’s ridiculous how much fanfiction you’re churning out with all the original stories you have sitting in the back of your head that need to get written.”

“You’re wasting your time writing fanfiction, you should be investing your time into your original works, y’know, the things that are ACTUALLY gonna get released into the world one day.”

“You not gonna get paid for writing fanfiction– put more energy into writing the stories that you’ll actually end up getting paid to write rather than spending your time writing things that will only ever seen the light of a social media website.”

And shit like that. So I have thought recently: Why are you still writing fanfiction now that you’re taking active steps toward pursuing your dreams? Why are you writing THIS MUCH fanfiction when you should be spending your creative time working on your films/original novels?

Yep. So I guess some sort of guilt, or self-deprecation about writing fanfiction. And not just about the fanfiction writing itself, but also about HOW MUCH fanfiction I’ve been writing, to a point where I either 1) always have a project going, something I’m in the middle of, 2) always something next on my queue (I literally wrote a whole fanfic queue and color coded it to organize it for future fanfics and I have a huge-ass note on my phone/computer dedicated to recording/brainstorming ideas), or 3) spend more time in my fanfic-planning journal than taking notes for my college classes.

I’m doing well in classes and all that shit, but still, I find myself feeling bad that I write so much fanfiction, so to both combat that, and to give validation to others who might be hesitant about writing fanfiction as I've felt in the past:

IF IT MAKES YOU HAPPY, IT’S VALID, AND YOU SHOULD KEEP DOING IT.

If it brings you joy, it has a purpose in your life. Fanfiction is just yet another way to express love for something you like, something you love, and that obsession comes out as passion, which has to be expressed, and it’s no different than drawing fan art, making edits, or even any hobby that ISN’T directly tied to a fandom.

If writing fanfiction is how you prefer to spend your creative time, then it has a place in how you live your life.

If it makes you happy and brings you joy, then it has a reason for being in your life.

Fanfiction has a purpose in your life, let it fulfill that purpose.

It was one year ago today that THIS happened (which apparently gave my father a heart attack on my behalf 😅), and I thought maybe it time to finally share this photo here; I hadn’t even shared the detail photos of all the themed accessories ❤️💙

This was my 2nd time meeting them, and I totally choked. Didn’t even look at them. Just pitifully hugged them, as I tried not to cry, and ran away 😂 It was just too much with the BOTH of them focused on me. I had first met them individually (which I handled much better) and had them sign those magazines that you see on the shirt I’m wearing 😍 (20 yrs ago, those covers dominated my summer of 2005 🖤🤍 Life changing!)

I had shared these photos from that same con, but here they are again for this anniversary post:

Despite my photo op fail (I really was an emotional mess; I think I had a sense of foreboding about my dad somehow), this con was INCREDIBLE. Moots. Friends of moots. Their spouses. There was over a dozen of us all together, and memories were made that I will cherish all my life.

It was six king cakes that I sealed for freshness and transported four states over 🤩 I feel very fortunate that the boys came so close to home, and likewise, I am so thankful to my friends who traveled far and wide so we could support one another through this epic event 🫂

Brian's analysis video was such a fun watch through. I LOVE story theming!! And hearing about the consistent theme of apologies made me wanna think about how it'd apply to my self insert...

I think Notebook's apology would happen alongside MePhone's. Unlike him she's genuine with hers. She understands her mistakes of not taking action. She wants to face it head on and Do something now. The issue is that there's not enough time for that to happen. MePhone goes on to try and bring false hope to the contestants, and then Cobs takes control of MePhoneX to attack them. Even if Notebook wants to make up for the share of pain she brought the contestants- her friends- that choice is lost right away. For her and MePhone it's equally too late.

All she could do was get those two words in...and then a harsh regret follows her after.

Saturday Six (Stuff)

Back at the Farmer's Market today. Still annoyed about how I was spoken to the last time I was there. As if the market manager is my boss, which is not the case. And I'm still pissed that someone who I thought was my friend has broken my confidence.( ಠ ಠ )

There was an ambulance at the market today too. And I had to make the cringe/awkward smile thing you make when you have to interact with a MAGAT pos (they were wearing the propaganda that's how I knew). Also my weirdo neighbor showed up and didn't even recognize me.٩(•̤̀ᵕ•̤́๑)ᵒᵏᵎᵎᵎᵎ

My windshield leaked during the thunderstorm we had last night, so I'm going to have to take it to my landlords again.(*｀へ´*)

We are not getting drunk on a race weekend again, Pear, Charles replies, very sternly. Andrea nearly murdered me after Montreal. 

Spoilsport, Pierre texts, followed by a veritable flurry of disappointed face emojis. There are so many of them that Charles knows Pierre doesn't truly care whether they get drunk or not – he's just trying to get a reaction out of Charles. 

Well, Charles can certainly give him a reaction.

I'll make it up to you, he promises, and doesn't even think twice about adding a little kiss emoji at the end. 

I'm listening, Pierre replies, and Charles doesn't need to be able to see him to know he'll have settled back more comfortably wherever he's sitting, one arm stretched up behind his head and a too-attractive smirk on his lips.

honestly i LOVED the our skyy episodes like i know im terribly biased, but out of all the ones we got until now i think the plot for vice versa felt the most organic and coherent to the characters and their journey. once again everyone involved in the show put so much care and attention into it, and jimmysea have such a natural easy chemistry to them, they sell the lovesick fools who have been married for five years SO WELL. IDK IF I CAN PICK ONLY 3 FAVORITE MOMENTS BECAUSE THEY WERE ALL SO GOOD BUT LET ME TRY:

1) the beach scene. IRREVOCABLY CHANGED ME MY LIFE MY PERSPECTIVE THE FOUNDATION OF MY PERSONHOOD THE BIOCHEMISTRY OF MY BRAIN AND THE ENTIRE MAKE UP OF MY BEING ON AN INTRINSIC MOLECULAR LEVEL. AGAIN. i haven't even begun to process A QUARTER of the insane amount of parallels they managed to pack in just 3 minutes of screentime and how, by doing that, they were able to show just how far puentalay have come in their journey: from strangers to lovers, from a one sided drunk kiss to a passionate yet tender mutual kiss, from a mouthed 'i like your name' to a mouthed 'i love you', from talay's life ending in the ocean to the ocean being the witness of his love, that same love he once thought was just an annoying distraction in the way to achieve his dreams and that now has become an essential color in the palette of his life..... literally made me experience every single emotion present on the spectrum of human consciousness, im gonna need a 2 weeks long vacation in a controlled environment to decompress and recover from the sheer high romance and the whole entire everything of it all

also not to toot my own horn but i love being correct and never losing:

2) both the birthday conversation and the drawing one. SORRY I KNOW IM CHEATING BUT I JUST CAN'T CHOOSE BETWEEN THESE TWO MOMENTS. WHEN I SAY PUENTALAY INVENTED COMMUNICATION UNDERSTANDING CARE LOVE SUPPORT!!!!!!!! im not mentally stable enough to be coherent about this but like.. one of the reasons i adore puentalay is that since the beginning they have always been willing to try to understand each other. no relationship comes without misunderstandings or conflicts, they're always bound to happen from time to time because we're all different and we all react to things in different ways, but what matters the most is the way you can come together after that to face the issue and make it better. i feel like people often have this idealized vision of love where everything must be perfect and passionate and all-consuming, but i believe love is actively choosing to share your life with someone every day as you help each other navigate through it and enjoy the quiet moments together, and i think these two conversations show that puen and talay have this kind of love, a love that will last forever because whatever happens being together is the most important thing for them

3) puentalay and jigsaw sleeping in the same bed. LITERALLY DON'T KNOW WHAT TO TELL YOU EXCEPT THAT I PERSONALLY DON'T EVEN WANT KIDS BUT SEEING PUEN AND TALAY BEING SO TENDER WITH JIGSAW AND REARRANGING THEIR LIFE TO MAKE SPACE FOR HIM HAD ME LYING IN THE DIRT SOBBING FOR SEVERAL HOURS TO CLIMB DOWN FROM THE SUGAR HIGH THIS SCENE GAVE ME WITH ITS SWEETNESS. it also reminded me a little of the scene in episode 6 when talay admits everything he has missed about puen: talay has always been more rational and reserved with his emotions compared to puen, but it's in quiet moments like these that you can see how deeply his feelings actually run. both puen and talay have so much love to give and one day, when they will be ready, they're gonna have a kid of their own and expand their family, and this knowledge is gonna MAKE ME DIE HAPPY AND IN PEACE

Happy New Year's Eve, Slay the Princess community!

A long, long message and credits to the designs are under the cut.

[Please excuse any awkward sentences, weird repetitions, and grammatical mistakes, I've been awake for 20 hours or so]

I cannot describe how much joy I feel right now, finally getting this drawing done. I feel nothing but joy when I think about Slay the Princess, and I feel nothing but pure adoration when I think about and spend time in this community. This game and this community truly brought a lot of happiness to me and made this otherwise unremarkable, maybe even depressing, year that much brighter. I wish I had more and better words to describe what I'm feeling right now! Genuinely, I don't have words to describe how much gratitude I feel right now.

And so for my final piece of 2024, I wanted to make a thank you drawing to this community and hopefully express the fraction of love and gratitude I feel right now. And I decided to make that drawing a group photo of 30 different Heroes! It ended up being 29 Heroes and one Opportunist, but I promise there is a reason for that-

If I had more time and energy, I would've included even more people, there are so many skilled artists, writers, and wonderful people in general who ended up excluded, especially due to this drawing being a voice-centered piece. But I'm glad I at least get to highlight some of the wonderful creators and artists in this community! Please check them out and support their work! They are all amazing <3
