started up zelda to dick around for like an hour & was SHOCKED to find myself on this dragon island. its been so long i literally forgot where i was lol

its difficult to get around here! rain means climbing is hard and i cant make upward gusts from campfires easily :( maybe i need my bike...

man it reminds me so much of the great sky islands...i feel like this must be the second largest collection of islands, actually. but it's been so long since the tutorial and the music is Like That it feels like a ruin of a ruin.......

ugh i ran into the bottom of an island and lost my bike >:(

oh i see! you're not supposed to use a bike but ascend. neat!!

my other issue is. i dont have a single nonmetallic weapon OR bow. so. my twink ass is gonna get fried

and the islands are small so i keep getting ALMOST KNOCKED OFF!!! EXCUSE ME....

snagged a sword! not a very good one though

oh and a BOW thank god

like i have the lightning proof armor i do but it is not at all upgraded so id be taking my life into my hands. no win scenario

well. it's upgraded to like level 2. which is still basically nothing at this point

:D i can see farosh from here!! HEY GIRLLL

i have to put it on to ride this track though lol. the thing im riding is metal!!

wait a sec. i can just wear this lightning proof armor, put on something metal, and STAND NEXT TO the bad guys. this is awesome! zapped his ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!

they should have shrines with weather i just decided. i wanna zap their asses

OKAY i made it out of sight but. this thing im supposed to carry is WAY heavier than a crystal. i carry those all the time and they do make the bike wonky, even more wonky than koroks do, but i can barely get it up off the ground. i even tried the "old" bike build that im more comfortable with and no dice. i fall out of the sky as soon as i get in it. insane.

ok. i made it. jesus fuck. i remember looking for a chasm here marked on my map...i guess im about to find it. AUGH

i havent been to the depths in a long time. i forgot that it's like - you see one thing out in the dark. in this instance, poes. and when you get there you see another thing - in this instance, monsters, and behind them, a lightroot. i could make my own little trail forever this way but it would lead me away from the temple and idk if i wanna explore or do the dungeon :/ i hate to leave poes uncollected and lightroots unlit but i also hate to stray so far from ym objective and have to walk ALLLLLL the way back

Helloo dear 🧡 and thanks for the ask! I do have some recs, yes :) I’ll try to maybe keep the list balanced? Let’s see... (also, I don’t know your platform and I’m no PC gamer, so I’m sorry...) these are probably my all-time favs and some games I keep going back to haha

The Legend of Zelda (in no particular order)1) Ocarina of Time - amazing game, 100/10. completed it like 10 times.2) Majora’s Mask - might be a little harder than OoT but still amazing. good shit3) Breath of the Wild - Jesus, take the wheel. I collected all 900 Korok seeds. I can’t wait for Breath of the Wild 2! If you own a Switch, go play it, you won’t regret it

Resident Evil (listing the games as they came out)1) Resident Evil 1 - Perfect. Amazing. Played it like 100 times. But seriously, I played it on PS1, GameCube, PS3, and PS4. I will support this game until the day I die.2) Resident Evil 2 (Original) - Go play it. It’s old and the controls will fuck you up but omg, if you can, get it for maybe PS3 and play it. SO. GOOD.3) Resident Evil 2 (Remake) - I nearly cried when I saw the first trailer. And then I really cried when I got to play. I have to admit, though, I was a little disappointed that they didn’t keep the original campaigns in. Leon and Claire didn’t seem to affect each other all that much... :(4) Resident Evil 3 (Original) - Fucking thing kicked my ass when I was younger but I beat it later >:) the controls were better here and Jill’s dodging was alright. Get it for PS3, you won’t regret it.5) Resident Evil 3 (Remake) - Currently playing and yes, I cried because it’s so beautiful and I... I HAVE A LOT OF FEELINGS FOR THAT SERIES6) Resident Evil 4 - Listen, I bought the game for GameCube, Wii, PS2, PS3, PS4 and fucking Switch. The day I stop playing RE4 is the day I die.7) Resident Evil 7 - Not gonna lie, I was SO disappointed when I saw the first trailer but it’s good and it’s creepy. Not a classical Resident Evil, I guess, and also... fuck that Redfield-guy. That’s not my Chris.

Honorable mentions: Resident Evil Code: Veronica & Resident Evil 6 (fight me, I fucking loved Piers Nivans)

You know, I could’ve saved myself some time and just recommend almost every Resident Evil game there is, but... I’m not very smart.

Other games I’d recommend:

The Evil Within 1 + 2 (I liked them, they were fun)Outlast 1 + 2 & Whistleblower (much love - only crapped my pants 10 times)Dead by Daylight (maybe... don’t play alone at the beginning. it’s fun but there’re a lot of assholes out there)Banjo Kazooie & Banjo Tooie (both are N64 games but you’ll never know... maybe one day we’ll get some ports for the Switch? Loved them)Tomb Raider 2013 (I think I played all games that came out for PS and I recently replayed this one, so there; it was fun, not particularly challenging, though)

SILENT HILL, holy shit. Silent Hill and Silent Hill 2. Every time I hear sirens, I freeze. Haha

Thanks to @punishandenslavesuckers , I turned the original story way around, and she may or may not have massive spoilers

I trust you Rae, don't screw this up for me.

And thanks to the lovely @Roseindefinitely (who just recently made her account so I could properly credit her) I was able to edit and make this story much more enjoyable

Also credit to Rae for the lovely title, it's quite clever.

Princes without parents are normally Kings, but something's missing, and he just won't give up trying.

The boy walked the road alone, his gaze unmoving from the path far ahead of him, this wasn't his first time down this road.

It won't be his last.

He looked disheveled, hurt, even. If it wasn't for the fact that he hadn’t a trace of weapons or armor, or even a travel pack, he could have been a traveler.

The path was a long one, He had to take the longer route for a safe spot, but he wasn't strong enough to carry a pack anyways. The stable workers were quite familiar of him, ushering him in for a spot to rest. They had more haste with him than their usual customers, a sense of urgency. The boy appreciated it, however, he was just doing what he had to. The next morning, he went to harvest ingredients for breakfast.

While he cooked, he listened to the chatter of the other people crowded around the stables only cooking pot.

“I heard there another plague rising, started in Lurein this time” one man gossiped.

It sent shivers down the boy’s spine.

“That's far enough off, a few days ride from here, if your horse is fast, maybe it won't hit us this time.” A woman with a broom remarked, the boy was losing his appetite. He hurried to finish his food before the conversation became too graphic.

The boy thought of speaking, but the words caught in his throat, like they did not wish to leave. Instead he cleaned up and left, if he hurried, he would be there before nightfall, that would be nice.

He occupied his mind with thoughts of food and hot springs, sleeping for a decent while, and escapes in the quiet forest, where nothing but the wildlife kept him company, it brought him a slight smile. He waved to the traveling horsemen, bargained with merchants, and exchanged greetings with walking travelers, as far as they knew, everything was okay.

Enjoying snacks he had previously purchased from a kind merchant, he watched as the forest came into view. Eventually he found himself enveloped in the familiar eerie fog.

The crushing feeling in his chest dissipated when he emerged in the safe grove of the forest, his first thought was rest. He followed that thought all the way to the hollow under the deku tree, where he promptly fell onto his stomach, fast asleep.

The Koroks woke him up far earlier then he would have enjoyed, but his work still wasn't done.

As the Great Tree watched, he approached the pedestal, the Sword that Seals the Darkness, his destiny, gleamed with an eerie light. He was horrified, if he failed, his kingdom would too. He wondered if the court really had faith in him, if they just said what they said to make him feel like he wasn't worthless. Shaking his head in an attempt to clear his thoughts, he took hold of the blade. Pain immediately shot like lightning, rocking his body, and making him tremble slightly, reopening scarred wounds, and tearing new ones. It pulsed, like a heartbeat, every wave stronger than the last. He clenched his teeth so hard that his ears rang, his knuckles turning white with his grasp, until he couldn't anymore. His legs gave out with his weight and he fell, there he lay, a hopeless, tired, screaming, sobbing heap, rocking himself to distract from the pain of his torn skin, staring at his singed, hot hands.

She was saddling up her horse when she heard the other guards shout, turning her head, She turned in time to see him fall. Panic rose and rested in her chest.

“Jesus Christ! Is he okay?” The horse reared with the suddenness of the dropped gear. The woman ran to his side, and gently lifted the collapsed boys head. “Call for the medic, he pushed himself too far….”

One of them did as told, hurrying off deeper into the large building, his footsteps echoing and fading as he disappeared into the depths of the hall. The blonde looked at the boy, who was presently trying to stand up, he proved too weak to do so.

“oh hell no,” she forced him back into a sitting position “You aren't going anywhere on your own,” the boy opened his mouth to interject, but shut it shortly after, the woman picked him up with slight difficulty, gave the remaining guards a sharp look, and walked down the hall, the guards looked at each other in sheer terror, you don't argue with that woman, they promptly resumed work.

Zelda watched Link lay on his bed, on his side, facing away from her, to be precise. They could never get the damn boy to lay on his back, she never knew why.

“You can't be mad at me forever, Prince,” she said mockingly. “We were destined by the gods to fight the calamity together, so you have to get over it sooner or later.”

Link looked over his shoulder at her , it took him a second, but he spoke, his speech sounded forced, like he had to fight to get the words out, it startled Zelda, she never heard him say anything more than soft mumbles or grunts in approval “Im, Im not…. Mad…..”

Zelda didn't know if it was him finally manning up to speak, or the words he said, but it really pissed her off. Too frustrated to deal with him, she left his room and started down the stairs, once far enough, she vented aloud. “The nerve! To be so silent for so long, and the only thing he could muster to say was that he wasn't mad? Not a, ‘Sorry Zelda, I ran off, and almost died without telling anyone-’”

“I didn't know you were so concerned, Captain.”

Zelda nearly tripped down the stairs, the voice was so unexpected, “Q-Queen Mipha! I-I am so sorry your highness,” she spun and took a knee, right there, in the middle of the staircase, what an idiot, the queens giggling confirmed that.

“Link’s, fragile, fragile of body and heart…. He’s always been that way, even as a child. After my father retired, I was sad I couldn't be there for him, I had to see him when I heard that he collapsed just outside the castle…. I'm glad he is at least awake…”

Zelda blinked and rose, of course! “I nearly forgotten you two were close childhood friends,” she turned away slightly, pulling at her wrist guard “Yes, he seems fine, surprisingly…”

That earned a nod from the abnormally short Zora royalty “Though fragile, his spirit is determined, he once almost drowned in Lake totori, he had been sword training by himself by the edge, and somehow he accidentally flung the sword into the lake……” she motioned Zelda to follow her down the stairs, she did so.

“His reasoning was because it was his fathers, I remember how shocked Sidon was when he saw him drenched….. Link takes every mistake personally…… I suppose, it is both a blessing, and a curse…”

Zelda blinked, “Pardon me, Que-”

“Mipha is fine, Queen Mipha is too long…”

“Mipha, of course, do you think, Link takes the master sword, as a personal failure? Is that why he is so stubborn about it?”

Mipha nodded slightly “That is very well part of it, that sword, is forever bound to his blood, he needs that sword to return peace to our kingdom, the court is encouraging him, telling him he must, when he can barely muster the strength to touch it…..” she shook her head “It's horrible, so many people are unknowingly pressuring him, to be honest, I don't know what happens when he tries to pull the sword, but seeing his injuries, I'm frankly against the thought, it's absolutely insane, there must be some other way of doing this…..”

Zelda nodded, although she really wasn't quite sure, no other person with the triforce of courage ever defeated ganon without the sword, maybe they never tried? Or maybe there was no other way?

“Its best I be headed back home, my kingdom awaits, so long, Captain.”

Zelda nodded, and bowed slightly “Farewell, and safe travels, give the Kingdom the Prince’s hellos, I am sure they will appreciate it.”

She smiles in response “I will. Say hello to the other Chiefs’ if they happen to visit.”

And with that, the small Zora queen leaves, and Zelda is left alone to her questions.

The Prince had questions of his own.

This chapter takes place over a few days, in case you are confused. There was so much going on, and not specifying the total time between segments made it seem more chaotic, and crazy.

Yes, I know that there was King Dorephan, and that Mipha was his daughter, no, Sidon is not her son in this AU, they are definitely siblings. I simply wanted a way for Mipha to not die. Cause I love Mipha.

Zelda is referred as Captain by Mipha, because she is a Captain, of the royal guard, as in, she is a knight, yes, Link’s night.

Link is called Prince, because, youuuuuu (hopefully) guessed it, he's a prince! Hence. The. Damn. Title.

back at it again in the lost woods

bc i havent played this game in awhile it hits me like a gut-punch just how incredible the SCOPE is...i can see literally across almost the entire world when i get to a high point and it's so lifelike, there's this one mountain you can see like 5 states from or something and i think of that when i get overwhelmed by how big this world is

i wonder how big it is in irl terms

like ocarina of time—OCARINA OF TIME, my fucking GAME, the one that made me feel this same exact way when i was 8—is only as big as the plateau, the smallest area, so like. damn

lol apparently it would cover the entire island of manhattan. cool cool cool

can you imagine a game that's like, as big as the world irl? tbh i doubt it'd be possible/enjoyable bc so much of our world is like...just. oceans. boring to explore, to program, to look at, etc (at least abovewater, and we haven't even irl-explored all of underwater)

anyway idk what to do first! gonna ponder my options

wait. i should see if my cards still work

my brother handmade these absolutely fuckin SICK cards for my birthday that work like pirated amiiboos, but i got my mom to lamenate them and he was worried they wouldn't work and now i'm like lkjdfhgdfg YOU HEARD HER SUGGEST THAT WHY NOT VOICE THE CONCERN THEN

TODAY’S ZELDABLOGGING, which has ENDGAME SPOILERS (yes i beat it):

all right i got about ~3 hours to get my shield and beat zelda lets fucking do this

the temple of time music is breaking my heart

this is one place where i'm mostly ok with them not using a classic tune for it tbh

like this music has so much grief and tranquility

i used to think the plateau was SO huge and really it's almost miniscule

i know it's a bit of a waste of time but i'm making the final trek on foot, no fast travel, temple of time to the castle

So Many Guardians

i can fight them now but only if theyre in the right place too close or far away and i cant do it

on a side note: yesterday (?) i found a beautiful pink spring i took many pictures of

today i saw that glowing spot on the map and realized i'd never figured out what it was!

dropped a pin bc i was curious, and it's the pink spring

temptation to warp over, check it out, and warp back: astronomical

but i'm on both a mission and a time limit, so it'll have to wait

ok. ok. im Here. its Time. lets go. shield first. that is My Shield, and the stalnox Cannot have it

there's a door i can't figure out how to open :/

what a good game

honest crit: no, it wasn't PERFECT

i could have stood more classic tunes to punch me in the feels more often and give us more of that old #aesthetic since they changed SO much about everything else - at times it didn't even quite feel like a zelda game, though the reminders that it WAS were always heartbreaking and wonderful

also maybe this was just my playstyle but i feel like there could have been more than just the four dungeons since they were so short...i know the dungeon-y puzzle stuff was spread all around with koroks and shrines, but is One big dungeon too much to ask? even hyrule castle had 1000 ways you could have gotten through

could have stood a little more acknowledgement of who you were and what you were doing as the divine beasts started waking up? like from npcs and shit, not even for Glory or whatever but just because the story felt reeeeeeally spread out, even with the memories scattered everywhere

and again a little bias here but some of the battles once you began getting Up There were a little TOO fake-difficult...i saw white bokoblins in old old places so i know it has to do with You, not your location, and i could have lived w/o it tbh

would have loved some form of new game + or postgame content, but maybe i'm just sad bc i misunderstood a spoiler or w/e it was that happened

things i loved:

the music

the cinematics, holy shit

the voice acting

when they DID use classic tunes it was to INCREDIBLE effect, same with the castle style, the ruins, even the nostalgic armor

obviously the open world gameplay was delightful and addicting, i literally couldn't get enough

the final boss battle wasn't too hard but VERY climactic and wonderful, just difficult Enough - could have maybe been a BIT harder but then i did start with him at half health!!

the dungeons, while there weren't enough of them, were EXTREMELY cool, i felt DWARFED by those beasts, after i saw the first one i never called them jaegers again

actually kind of liked the weapon durability thing bc then i could just pick them up during combat when i was running low and steal them or fight with them, throw them, etc

did not like the BOW durability, all my bows broke VERY quickly, that and running out of arrows always was totally urgh...even with my weapons inventory upgraded i STILL couldn't hold all the cool ones the game threw at me, it needed to be like that for players that favored the bow - more of them that were OP, more arrows, etc

anyway i could go on and on but

i gotta sleep, and

i'm so happy zelda is free

it would have been so cool to have her as a companion in post-game, Somehow

or at least see her reunion with all those who missed her

or see link get his memories back

it ended a bit too soon but it was beautiful and i loved it

which isn't to say the world has lost its charm or im tired of exploring, exploring and crafting is basically all you do in skyrim and it pretty much never gets old, but i'm more anxious now to uncover the plot than i was before, which speaks to the game's storytelling skills, yet still feel the compulsive need to explore Everything before moving on lol

i don't typically do a lot of post-game play so i know after i kill the final boss that'll be that

and i got...a giant ancient core, which sounds nice but probably won't let me upgrade my rune

how come the bokoblins can use bomb arrows in the rain and i can't?!

first skeleton bokoblins, then skeleton lizalfos, and now skeleton moblins?!?!

wish i had marked that other glowing thing with a pin...i can't find it now lol

and i am at the islands!! man these bridges sure are tiny and high up

today in the legend of Where Do I Even Go First

i have many new shrines to get, probably

and lots of places to explore

i kind of want to do the story stuff i wonder if any of it is in this province...

nnnnope lmao nevermind

apparently i can also go back to kakariko for a mini story thing

i guess i’ll start with some light exploring and move on to kakariko if i get bored!

it’s too bad i can’t paraglide with my horse or summon her from nothing, if i could take her everywhere i would

i see a shrine waaay up on a cliff that isn’t technically in this province but the view from there would be perfect and i could paraglide to something else from there

a nice plan, but there’s a bokoblin camp under me LOL so i stopped to kill them first

well, i still didn’t get it, but at least i made the landing properly

and the thing was VERY easy to take from the top

so fast travel back to the tower and paraglide again this time without stopping

i realized i had been typing up zelda blogging into notepad for like a week plus without posting, cause i didn’t wanna post everyday once i finished the main story? but then it got SUUUPER long. i waited for it to kinda taper down since now i’m mostly down to completionist stuff, and since it has, i’m gonna post it & just do small posts if i decide to blog abt anything else.

it feels rly weird not to zeldablog now

i ran into a blue? silver? lynel and got trapped fighting it on my way out of hyrule castle AND KILLED IT!! yay!!

also im going back to the mountain to check out that glow

i checked the shrine out next to it, since i was only activating them near the end and not DOING them

and they've gotten way more complex

now i understand when the monks commend your resourcefulness like before i was like, pls. that was way too easy. literally anyone could have done that

i went to the lake at night and it isn't glowing ): idgi did i see something else? does it only do that from a distance? on certain nights? i could see it from SO far away...

o my god theres a GOLF minigame the camera angles even do the thing

fucking fuck dinraal showed up WHILE I WAS PLAYING GOLF

i MISSED him im so mad i couldnt fast travel away bc minigame!!!

i suppose with the nearby shrine i can get to it fairly quicky but not quickly enough for my liking...once the moon rises you only have literally like two minutes before it leaves

so i have to notice it, get out there, and get naked in less than 2 minutes, without warning :/

it actually wasn't that bad, tho it got a bit dicey a couple of times

so much of this game is like, your buffs and armor and weapons, i've had harder fights against weaker foes just bc i wasn't properly equipped

but learning to dodge and use my shield a bit better certainly didn't hurt

tbh it looks like most of what i wanna do requires rupees, so i should go farm some i guess!

god the tarreytown sidequests are so pleasant and relaxing like

i havent felt so calm playing this game since...i don't think ever

and like, they talk about the yiga clan and the monsters outside

and if i were a person with more time i would write the cute genfic about how tarreytown gets put under seige but their location makes that hard and they fight off the bad guys

also i finally did break the hylian shield cleaning out the guardian room on maze island and i got a replacement there......for3k, but still

anyway im finding all the chests from the shrines i missed and one is in the plateau ): my heart

like, i can't believe i used to think this mountain was massive, this plateau was massive. it's so small compared to everything else. and so lonely ;_;

like, i miss it, weirdly, but i miss the version that had the easy enemies and the old man and where when i looked outside of the walls it was all very misty and i couldn't even comprehend the true size of this world

jesus FUCKING christ i went out to see the ranch ruins with epona and i got attacked by a guardian, a yiga clan member, and two silver bokoblins on horseback

FINALLY fought them off, terrified the entire time something would happen to epona, and i got attacked by three stal moblins

fought THEM off and there's a stal bokoblin on a stalhorse! but i can't catch it or ride it because of all times, the blood moon is rising!! j e s u s c h r i s t

now i've gotta get on my horse and get the hell out of dodge before those things come back to hurt her

i was thinking of a nice relaxing-if-sad trip before bed but no i gotta come back on FOOT to kill these guys AGAIN and then bring her back during the DAY so we can properly look around

okay update i did get on the stalhorse bc i have about 30 seconds to snap a cool pic (no way i can ride it out to whatever stable i need for the quest...even if i could leave epona here, it's much too long of a trip) but fucking hell dude

i didn't know if i should get on epona and ride for it or teleport to the stable and then board her

but after clearing it out and actually getting to look around, uh

this is brick-for-brick the most faithful recreation of oot's lon lon ranch

and i am SO sad

ugh i just had to restart an entire shrine bc i dropped my korok leaf at the last second bc i was trying to open all the chests and i had to go back and get my good spear that i had to drop to get the korok leaf in the first room...but i needed the korok leaf to get back to the end!!!!!

i hate the weapons system in this game sometimes i won't lie like sometimes it's really good and sometimes it drives me bonkers

finally fully upgraded my armor & i never wanna see another dragon again

they kept failing to spawn where they were supposed to and the only one who spawns reliably/is easy to hit/doesn’t send scales flying 100000 miles away is farosh, naydra and dinraal are absolutely horrible, naydra in particular has nowhere you can fast-travel to, you have to fast-travel to a nearby shrine and then walk a good distance no matter where you drop in at. naydra was also the most finnicky about showing up when she was supposed to

at least i figured out i can use a flame sword instead of fire arrows to light campfires

getting honey was pretty easy there’s a fuckton next to those hinox brothers and acorns are kinda everywhere

the beetles were a little more tedious but once i put them on my sensor not too bad...the worst part was turning beedle down every time he wanted one because he does a LONG speech that is SUPER annoying after the 100th time and you’re just trying to buy arrows

anyway im gonna go test the defense

surprise! lynels and guardians can still kick my ass!

everything else seems to fly right off me tho so that’s something

it’s been ages since any hinox or talus was able to put up a fight against me

i’ve still only killed about half of each tho like :/ damn they are everywhere & there’s sooo many

i’m lowkey wondering if i will attempt to 100% this game like i do Not look forward to getting all those fucking korok seeds, at that point it is no longer fun, yk, and the reward is so stupid

also i saw a video about having to visit every major named place on the map as well

and both of those things obviously guarantee that you see EVERY INCH of this huge and exapansive and beautiful world, but i feel like if i forced myself to keep going and doing it i would learn to hate the game a little bit lmao. lowkey feel like that’s adding fake hours onto your game for something that stop being fun and turns into absolute tedium, but i guess i can understand wanting to give completionist players a reason to see EVERYTHING

we’ll just see how i feel - i still have quite a few sidequests left, and while i don’t wanna burn thru them too quickly (bc again, after they’re over my interest will drop dramatically) i also still wanna fight the minibosses and upgrade as much of my armor as i am able to

but like, who the fuck has time to farm 160ish star pieces...? not me my dude and that mmo-type drop rarity is like :/ i disapprove, that’s like...cheating. but anyway. we’ll see how far i get
