It's just my silly thought, but I like how Mahiru with Kazui and Mikoto with Kotoko create two duets that intersect with each other. While Mahiru and Kazui are "My partner committed suicide because of me", Mikoto and Kotoko are "I'll remind you of your dead partner and maybe remind you of your trauma" (I mean appearance and maybe some details like personality or activity, u know) because

And i can't. I just can't. A hundred ideas for art with this idea are spinning in my head.

Heyy, idk if this makes sense but you know how in red riding hood some people believe the red hood represents menstruation and the story is a sort of "dark coming of age"... What if Kotoko thinks the only thing she needs to "become an adult" is to shed (someone else's) blood because she hasn't matured in any significant way since she was Amane's age (plus her jacket becoming red distances her from the weak pink shirt girl who was victimized)?
OMGGGG YES that's exactly what I was thinking about in terms of the connection between Kotoko and the story of red riding hood! It does make sense dw, I knew it had connotations for being a dark coming of age story, but I never thought about the menstruation part like that :0 her “shedding” someone else’s blood so she can become an adult — this mature and well put together vigilante who’s hero of justice — it makes sense!!! Her not changing that thought ever since she was a child really shows how much she hasn’t matured or grown up in that sense. Like she did say she was practicing martial arts all the way back when she was in elementary school, so that mindset had to have probably start around there somewhere if she started training seriously then
And yeah I do think that regardless of who that girl is, her shirt being pink definitely indicates the change and contrast between Kotoko’s magenta theme color and her signature red jacket. Kotoko hasn’t matured emotionally, she’s still stuck in her childlike ways and views of the world, and yet she’s stained with blood unlike the innocent pink shirt girl, who was merely only a victim

what if milgram was 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂gram and instead of voting prisoners guilty or innocent we voted tjem out into space like among us
...Is this an actual language that you're speaking to me?
If so, turning MILGRAM into "𝓯𝓻𝓮𝓪𝓴𝔂"GRAM would completely void the system of all its purpose- the point of it is to judge sinners outside of the corrupted justice system of our world. By turning it into such a concept, you would instead be trapping anyone deemed abnormal here, rather than murderers.
...
Voting prisoners into the vacuum of space would be sentencing them to death. I was under the impression that all of you despised the idea of ending someone life as punishment...am I incorrect?
(And what on earth is "among us"?)

kotoko post so true. she’s a lone wolf but wolves are supposed 2 b in packs. they are social animals! wolves will sometimes leave the group temporarily, but they’re not suited for long-term solitude. if they leave a pack, they look for other wolves to join. a lone wolf is a wolf that is searching for companions.
YEAH.... it makes me :[ to think about it ough... I'm SO curious to learn whether kotoko had a pack of her own at some point or if she's always been a lone wolf 🤔 something tells me it's the former and I really wanna find out more about her past!!

Hey everyone, actually I changed my mind:
Vote Mari innocent 🥺 you know why you should vote her innocent? Because she's really showing how regretful she is of her actions! She didn't mean to hurt Seari intentionally!!! She was just playing around you know??? 🥺
So vote Mari innocent today! I support this wholeheartedly <3

Fuuta timeline convo
Happy birthday, Fuuta! Original text (red for Fuuta, blue for Haruka): Translated: Fuuta: Hey, you're really all good with that, huh. Y'know, if ya come with me, you might also be able to be saved... Haruka. Haruka: U-uh, yeah... I've already decided on this. Because, I have things that I have to do. Fuuta: Ah, is that so... Hey, Haruka, you really are an idiot. Doing that... ain't gonna save ya... Haruka: Mm, thank you. Fuuta, I was really happy that you came and talked with me. Um, and, I was also really happy that you've been so nice to me. Really. But there's no other path I can take. I'm sorry... (does anyone else remember that one post about one of the characters' birthday, and it was something like "happy birthday ---, your present is ~revenge~? Haha Kotoko T2 verdict much?) (Happy birthday, Fuuta! *looks at final verdict table for T2* You get a present from all us viewers! It's revenge. ...you also get cults and a suicidal teen that looks up to you!)

I agree with all of this btw!!! I do think her crime is a bit suspicious considering the circumstances like the location inconsistency and her claim of it being "self-defense", but yeah I don't think she had a good childhood at all 😭 I also want to learn what drives her to do all of this in the first place! Hoping Deep Cover shows us a lot of her motivation/past fr
Also here are the Kotoko and Shidou timelines!
One is on a normal day
Tumblr media
And the other is on Shidou's birthday!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the milgram ask game, Kotoko for 6, 8, 12, and 19!!! :3
6. favorite relationships with another character in the prison?
its so cliche to say mahiru i think but truly- mahiru. theyve got such a playful relationship and the way mahiru talks so sweetly to/about kotoko makes my heart melt.
and ive been thinking a lot more about her with shidou... they dont directly interact, but theyre fun to think about... shidou "im left to clean up the aftermath of your actions" vs kotoko "i dont care if youve been overly-forgiven by the warden, i will not let you get in the way of justice" also... 5 + 10? YELLS
what is your theory for their crime? if there is general consensus on it in the fandom, do you have any other, not-so-widely-accepted thoughts on it?
i feel like kotokos crime is pretty straight forward: vigilante justice carried out as vigilante justice usually is; poorly and with grave consequence
and hm... my thoughts on it.. well, i definitely dont think vigilante justice is good, ever. one person should never be judge, jury, and executioner. but with kotoko... i want to know more about WHY she is driven towards vigilante justice.. what has driven her so far to the point where she is willing to burn all her bridges, distance herself from others, spend her hard-earned money and drop out of school for the chance to kill someone she deems to be a bad person- even though she risks going to prison after the first time she ever draws blood? why is she risking so much, for so little?
12. what do you wish would be discussed more often about them in the fandom?
god. anything and everything. kotoko is very widely ignored by fans unless they are interested in her, specifically. and it sucks! she is such a weird character, but such a good character. you say you dont care about others, yet you claim you want to protect the weak, but if they get in your way regardless you will crush them. what drives you? what happened to you to make you think like this? why are you so back-and-forth?? i also want to see more people talk about how she potentially has DID, its one of my favorite theories. i want to see more discussion on the wolf-theming, and why her headspace seems to be a barren desert. i want people to talk about how, even if she does terrible things- she is not beyond saving, there is a kind and gentle heart hidden away under her layers of fear and trauma.
but i do wanna ask a few questions to the audience, and let you all take a moment to stew on her character before deep cover...
what do you think happened in her past to push her to believe vigilante justice should be her path?
what do you think drives her to focus on the specific targets she has in harrow?
why do you think kotokos victim looks so much like fuuta?
who do you think the 3 different girls are in harrow? do you believe one of them may be kotoko herself?
what could she possibly gain from draining her life savings on a false sense of justice?
why do you think she actively pushes away any sense of connection in her life?
in regards to her family members, why do you think she mentions these specific people, in this specific order? (for your reference, her family interrogation answer is thus: (taken from the milgram wiki)
Tumblr media
19. what do you think their childhood/teenage years were like?
bad. LMAO. i think she went through a majorly traumatic event as a child, and she's largely blocked it out of her memory, but it still drives her actions today. i wont go into detail on it now, because i fear it would be very very triggering for others (and deserves its own, carefully-written post), but i believe her past may consist of the following: child abuse, sexual assault, and trafficking
edit: as for her teenage years, i think this is when she really started to self-isolate. she probably didnt have many friends to begin with, and pushed the remaining ones away at this point. she probably dove head-first into her vigilante research first, and her studies second, and everything else beyond that was just noise to her

Man sometimes I just think about how Haruka's newfound confidence had very, very little to do with his forgiven verdict.
MILGRAM Portal Timeline (2020/12/15, Kotoko's Birthday) Haruka: Um, Koto-Kotoko-san. I h-heard that it’s your birth, day…… Kotoko: Ah, that’s right. ……what about it? Haruka: !! A-ah, no, um, it’s, uh, nothing…… S-sorry for, bothering… L-later……! Kotoko: ......what was that about??
MILGRAM Portal Timeline (2021/4/19, Fuuta's Birthday) Haruka: U-uh, um, Futa-kun! Um! Um!! Fuuta: Huh? Shut up already… Didn’t I already say not to make a big fuss about my birthday. I’m not some kid who gets excited by stuff like that anymore! Haruka: ……?? Ah, er, i-is it your birthday……? Th-that, ah, um, h-happy birthday…… Fuuta: ………… You will tell nobody about this conversation.
Both of these conversations take place after Haruka's verdict was set-in-stone in September, and in both of them (mainly Kotoko's) he still shows an immense amount of nervousness and low self-confidence. You could say that he slightly improves in the Fuuta conversation, but Haruka has always liked him because he gives him attention, so I think it could be chalked up to him just feeling more comfortable around Fuuta
(x) Haruka: The ones who often talk to me are Yuno and Mahiru and, uh, Mikoto. Haruka: Also Fuuta. He's a little scary, but he pays attention to me. I sometimes speak to Muu as well.
However, things really start to take a turn for Haruka when...
MILGRAM Portal Timeline (2021/06/22, Haruka's Birthday) Muu: Haruka-kun, are you awake……? Happy birthday. Haruka: M-Mu-san? I… I-I’m awake…… Th-thank you, very much. I’m… glad…… Muu: ………… Shall we talk? You know, recently I’ve been pretty interested in you. Haruka: ……!! I-in me…? Hehe, hehehe…… interested, in me.
This timeline conversation marks the true beginning of Haruka and Muu's friendship to me. Even though they had talked before this point, this is where their relationship began to form, and also when Haruka really started to change.
MILGRAM Portal Timeline (2021/09/02, Yuno's Birthday) Haruka: Y-Yuno-san. Good morning! T-today’s your birthday, right……? Ha-happy birthday……!! Yuno: Oooh…… Thanks? You’ve definitely changed a bit huh, Haruka. You speak a little louder now, and actually look people in the eyes when you talk. Haruka: Eh, ah, i-is that so…… I wasn’t, aware of it myself, but…… Heh, hehe. Is that so. Yuno: Ding ding! My sensor is telling me…… this is probably a girl’s influence. Well, everyone here is slowly changing, I guess. Even me.
Haruka's change doesn't come from being told he's forgiven, it comes from being shown, for the first time in so long, what it's like to be loved and cared for by someone. And this love that Muu shows him is what makes him continue to improve himself, to the point where in his most recent interacts with the prisoners, he is not stuttering at all and speaking with much more conviction.
MILGRAM Portal Timeline (2023/12/15, Kotoko's birthday) Haruka: …Please be quiet about this. And you, please don't get involved. All I can do is ask this of you… Kotoko: Fufufu, fufufufufu. You're thinking some outrageous things. To be frank, it's abnormal. But I don't dislike it. If only all sinners were like you. Haruka: No… That's not it… I don't mean it that way… This isn't for me… it's to protect… so, Kotoko-san… please… Kotoko: Eh? Yes, yes. Well, I promise not to interfere with your plans. Even though I'd like to do it myself, I'll leave it to you. What happens after that… depends on Es, doesn't it?
Comparing this to the first timeline I shared in this post, it's so clear to me that Haruka's confidence was not motivated by the verdict, at least not as much, but was instead motivated by the love that Muu showed him. And I think that's very important for two reasons 1) It highlights how truly unhelpful the Milgram prison system is even towards the ones it chooses to forgive, because Milgram as an institution disavows rehabilitation 2) Even though this system continues to fail in helping these prisoners with what they really need, which is a chance to improve, that chance can still be offered by the ones they grow close to as exemplified by Haruka here (and though not the point of this post, Fuuta and Amane are also a good example of this). And that is so damn important to me

hi hii! may i request either 03 or 09 (or john !! whichever u think would be most interesting) x reader going through the effects of the unforgiven veredict?
if what i mean isnt understandable i can explain further
Innocent in their eyes ☆
Fuuta Kajiyama + Mikoto Kayano (separate) x reader
A/N - Fuuta is my cat. i love him. Hope its ok i went with mikoto rather than john, but i’ve been wanting to write for the silly boy for a bit so i took this as a bit of an excuse to do so ^^ (john does kinda make an appearance tho)
C/W - Anxiety, hearing voices
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ─── Fuuta Kajiyama
Any concern he had for his own well being was gone in an instant as Fuuta rushed to your figure, you being curled up and shaking in the corner of your cell. In a matter of seconds, his arms were wrapped around you and you were brought right up against his chest, his breathing just as rapid as yours as your tears wet his clothes.
You sputtered out a faint apology, followed by ‘this is my fault’, and the boy practically shattered. He desperately tried to pull you closer, burying his face in your shoulder as he held you.
“Shut up. No it’s not.” His voice was almost frantic as he spoke. “It’s not your fault, okay? Don’t.. don’t say that.”
For the first time in a while, it felt like the voices constantly condemning you hushed while Fuuta hugged you on the floor. It was comfortably silent as he simply held you, breathing heavily from the way he ran immediately to you from where he’d been upon hearing about tour verdict.
He knew full well how awful it was, the way the voices never stopped, the way it felt like you were constantly being watched, being judged. The pain was almost unbearable for him, but the idea of you suffering through that brought out a side of him nobody ever saw. He was scared- All he ever wanted was to make sure you were okay and safe, and the idea of you having to suffer through the anguish of a guilty verdict was worse than his own.
You let out a weak smile as his breathing finally started to slow back to a normal pace, and felt yourself leaning into his hold. “….Thank you.”
A slight calm washed over him as he heard your voice, and his grip tightened. “It wasn’t your fault. You.. You aren’t guilty, okay?”
He sighed, smiling against your shoulder as he hugged you.
“You’re as innocent as can be as far as i see it.”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ─── Mikoto Kayano
No words were spoken as Mikoto slid himself next to you on your mattress, quietly offering you a mug of hot chocolate with a tired smile. He leaned over you slightly, placing his arm on your shoulder and let his fingers play around with your hair. All you could bring yourself to do was stare into the mug, but you laid your head on Mikoto’s shoulder in a small show of gratitude.
“You know..” His voice was quiet as he spoke, just loud enough for you to hear. “Es is wrong. We’re gonna get out of here soon, okay? I promise.”
With the hand that wasn't already busy with your hair, you felt his fingers entwine with yours as he squeezed your hand ever so slightly. He was convinced even before now that the verdicts given by Es weren’t accurate- As far as Mikoto knew, both of you were there by mistake, but that didn’t stop the turmoil that came with being deemed guilty.
For days since receiving the verdict, you had stayed holed up in your cell. You wouldn't even leave for meals, and so Mikoto coming by like this with food and drinks had become a routine over the past few days. He was the only one you were willing to see at the time, and even then you barely spoke to him, just sitting next to him and taking in all the warmth he had to offer to distract you from the pain.
And watching you go through that triggered emotions in him he hasn’t had to deal with in a long time.
He couldn’t remember any of it, but some of the other prisoners told him he’d even gotten into a fistfight trying to stop Kotoko from hurting you. And even without memory of the fact, as he sat here, your hand in his with him whispering any sort of encouragement he could to you, there was no doubt about it;
You didn’t deserve this, and while he may not know it yet, you could tell he was gonna be doing something about it later.

NOT LETTING YOUR TAGS BE BURIED BECAUSE THIS IS SO TRUE!!!
Tumblr media
Overanalysing Kotoko's answers #1
Alright guys this is not a drill, I repeat this is not a drill! Kotoko's interrogation started today! Let's see what we are working with!
Tumblr media
Huh... I see I see... Truthfully, I was initially a little disappointed with this question. I mean, you could see her answer from a mile away. However as I started to think about it, I realised something.
I think this is the first time Kotoko doesn't reference "the evil" as the ones oppressing the weaklings but instead she named them... "the strong". A very childish answer I'll give her that, but that's nothing new. (Also pointing again how her stance on this seems to have changed since T1 but I digress.) Something interesting here is that not only does she say "the strong'' but apparently the kanji she used means those who think themselves as strong, self-assured, strong willed people. Probably in her view, the ones who think they can trample all over weaklings. What matters here is that there is a distinction from being physically strong or strong in general and what Kotoko entails. So you could be weak, physically, but still strong willed, and so, capable of hurting someone else.
Anyways, the strong huh. A very generalised term. So you want to crush the strong. But... Well you are definitely not weak. I mean you hate the notion of weakness. Even more those who think they can do nothing, who don't act against evil. Just like you said in Yonah. Then are you strong? Do you think you should be crushed as well? Or do you think you are none of these? You hate the weak because they remind you too much of yourself, you hate the strong who think they can oppress the weak and you are...
The hero. The long awaited hero. But are you really? "An ally of the weak", you said. Would an ally abandon someone like you did in Deep Cover?
I wonder if Kotoko really sees herself as a hero. I think I would have preferred it if this question asked her if she thinks she is the ideal image of a hero. As always she only answered the question, adding nothing more. We are left to wonder if she based this answer on herself or if this is what she thinks she should be. The role that was assigned to her by the people according to that news article. The one she must live up to. If they called her a hero then she must be one. Because if she isn't a hero, then what is she? Weak? Strong?
I wish I knew.
