as a lifelong bengals fan, all i’m gonna say it’s very telling who the bandwagon fans are anytime we lose. it’s frustrating, to be sure, but there’s still a lot of football left to be played and i think anything is possible. anyone showing their true colors can kindly leave. ❤️

As long as she could remember, Cinder had never had someone who truly cared about her. Kicked around by the other children at the orphanage and mocked by the adults, sold like livestock to slave away for someone else's sick amusement, and betrayed by the only one who had ever shown her a modicum of kindness in this cruel, twisted world...

She awoke with a jolt, sweat beading down her throat and settling uncomfortably on her scar. With a huff, she rolled onto her side and wiped away the accumulated sweat.

Her eyes flared in the darkness of the room as she hissed out murky steam from within her throat, recalling all the ways she had been wronged. All the ways the precious society built by Ozpin had failed her.

i'll see you in five. she doesn't bother responding, instead turning her phone off. she doesn't wish to speak to anyone. not now. after hearing about jacob, she doesn't want to risk turning on the news, but she can't stop herself from reaching for the remote. maybe it's people she doesn't know? a harsh thought, but certainly an easier one to handle and it's with that sliver of hope that clem hits the power button, only to be devastated. the name of her friend makes her ears ring and she's suddenly forgotten how to breathe. a cold numbness washes over her person, their last interaction beginning to replay. she should've called more. she should've spent more time. she should've shared the secrets behind her stories. she should have---the knock on the door pulls her from the downward spiral. she doesn't know how long she's kept him waiting and even at the door, her hand hovers at the final lock. the femme takes a heavy breath to center herself, but her attempts are quickly proven futile once the door no longer shields him from her view. she can feel the burning in her eyes and clem has to step away to create a sense of distance. kage has already seen so much of her vulnerability; it doesn't feel right to share anymore, but her words are out before she realises. ❝ why wasn't it me? ❞ she chokes softly, and then.. she breaks.
