#thalia and poseidon

after the second war percy thalia and nico became closer (and got over their problems ofc) and actually friends, and shortly after they realized they all liked to shit talk people. especially the gods.

but the gods would never allow that, and the only god any of them could think of that would let them get away with that was poseidon. so they had their weekly shit-talk session in the poseidon cabin.

until one day, when thalia was shit talking apollo about what he did to/with the hunt that particular day, poseidon decided to join in. he had nothing better to do so why not

thalia barely even blinked and started from the beginning while percy and nico fell off the couch.

percy already shit talked other gods with his dad during the summer/winter solstice since neither of them wanted to be there, so he adjusted to the new member fairly quickly

and from that day on poseidon officially became part of the shit-talking group, he always brought a lot of snacks and drama from olympus (and often atlantis) and soemtimes would bring amphritrite too

after a few weeks, after their shit talk sesh, poseidon would bring the little three out to wherever they wanted to go to just chill and vibe (it was thalias idea)

but anyway poseidon doesn't really like thalia at first since she was zeus's kid but after a while and after seeing how well she and percy get along he was like 'alright yea ill give this kid a shot'

then he maybe forgot thalia wasnt actually his kid and is like 'wait a minute she wasnt always my kid- eh who gives a shit shes mine now'

but yea no hes a good dad

they're filming season two, but i'm thinking about the potential adaption of the mount tam scene in season three. you know, the one where annabeth could apologize for pushing percy out of the way and falling off the cliff in his place, and how she knows that sounds terrible but they didn't have time for another plan and she didn't want to lose him that way. but percy just engulfs her in a hug because he's so relieved that she's safe now and everything else be damned. and annabeth doesn't understand why he's snickering to himself after that last statement, but she melts into the hug anyway because she missed him. and thalia and grover stand in the background happy for their friends on the outside but internally mortified, because their friends are definitely falling for each other but fate may not allow them to see it through.

the pjo show doesn’t even have parallels anymore it’s all one big gigantic parallelogram coz why is annabeth both simultaneously mirroring medusa and sally and why can percy be compared to both poseidon and thalia and why is grover just present in all these parallel-defining scenarios like the diagonals joining the four vertices into this one endless cycle of connections i’ll go insane

yes “the most powerful being in the universes best plan to save his daughters life was to turn her into a tree” is fucking HILARIOUS however think about it. Thalia is just like Percy, a forbidden kid in constant danger. and he just learned the extent to which a Big Three god will go to save their kid. And it is not nearly as far as his mortal mother went to save him. Essentially he just realized just how useless his father truly is. He will do nothing to save him, at least nothing that would keep him human. Just like Zeus did nothing for Thalia

Do you ever think about how in Percy Jackson and the Olympians Poseidon offered Sally Jackson palace at the bottom of the sea to keep her safe but she turned it down. Hades offered to take Maria Di Angelo and her kids to the Underworld to protect them but she turned it down. then Zeus offered nothing to Beryl Grace but she would have taken it. there's something to be said there, it's definitely interesting but it's late and I'm tired.

i realize now that your godly parent has less to do with you as a person and more to do with how hot and interesting your mortal parent was. so, those 'which cabin do you belong to?' should be less about your likes and dislikes and a lot of 'which god do you think your parent can pull?'

I get the criticism of the Hunters of Artemis from a narrative perspective—it sucks that it essentially boots interesting female characters out of the story—but it always baffles me when people viciously hate Artemis for *checks notes* doing damage control.

Like. Thalia explicitly goes with Artemis to avoid the prophecy, and I definitely think that’s the reason Artemis tried so hard to get her to join—hell, you can view the hunters trying to recruit Annabeth as a way to get Thalia to join. And Bianca? You can’t convince me that Artemis didn’t guess there was something up there and react accordingly.

If Percy or Nico were even a little bit girl-adjacent you bet your ass she would be all over them to join. No one actually wants to risk the Great Prophecy happening, and Artemis is doing a hell of a lot more to stop it than anyone else.
