this stunningly beautiful colored illustration at the beginning of vol 8 (is that one of yours @zeldacw?) is making me tear up bc omg look at them ;_; Xie Lian's open, carefree joy!!! Hua Cheng's fond, loving gaze!!! their red string, the butterflies, the warmth all around them ;a; first glimpse of vol 8 I've allowed myself (reward for getting through a tough day) and I'm already overwhelmed with hualian feels ;_;

My copy of Volume 8 arrived!!

Now my series is complete (once I read it) and last I will collect are the home releases of the anime and the Hua Cheng 1/7th scale figure releasing next year (unless they make Black Water merch)

Happy TGCF book 8 release day!! I’m so excited to read it, but it’s bittersweet because I can’t believe this is the last book. It is truly one of my favorite stories I’ve ever read. Xie Lian is such a complex and well written character; I applaud MXTX’s talent because you can tell how much thought went into writing him. Reading this series has been nothing short of cathartic.

While the story ends with this volume, luckily there’s much more TGCF to come with the donghua and manhua. ❤️

mxtx was like i wonder what happened between lan wangji and jiang cheng during those 3 months wwx was missing, what if wwx had another love interest so the two of them would be alone to explore that dynamic instead. then she wrote fengqing and left them together for 700 years and not only did they not explore that dynamic but they chose to fight nonstop instead of ever speaking to each other
