I love this so far! It's been getting me curious thinking about the characters, and I have to wonder: If they were alone with a romanced MC, and the MC began to break down crying over something (be it stress or expectations or so on), how would they respond?

Poor MC I say as if it isn't my fault. Here is how, in general:

Arthur: crouches in front of them, voice lowering to a coarse whisper, and is just there while they let it out. Rubs comforting circles on their knees.

Darla: fussy, she wants to know what is happening, why, how. A bit like a pup that is prancing around. Seeing that pestering the MC doesn't work, her feelings are a mush of panic and anger on their behalf. She stays by them, but she'll be more useful in helping them come down (or up) from the breakdown.

Gale: something very much like this, he'd step up.

Ianthe: she'd probably, despite herself, quietly cry with them, for them. She is a presence by their side, a shoulder to lean on if they need it.

Jax: guilt stuns them into a stupor, so many things that will happen to the MC are of their design, directly or not. Watching the person they love fall apart in front of them is a punishment in and of itself, so they feel like they owe the MC both the space to let out their emotions and to bear the pain of watching them do it.

Yves/Yvette: drawls a sorrowful "Oh, sweetest..." and cups their chin, lifting it until their eyes lock. "What dares make you so upset?"

On one hand, ToTK not getting game of the year is great.

On the other hand, good god I can't imagine how MAD the fandom and Nintendy are.

Honestly, I think this, combined to the way Aonuma was treated when he did receive the (again, in my opinion well-deserved) award, which was utterly unnacceptable --both for him and for any gamedev who just wanted more than 30 seconds to celebrate their insane achievements in an otherwise very hard year-- might lead to some degree of animosity between the two entities moving forward. Maybe they will move past that, but I don't know a single person in the industry who are happy about how this all went down --from ignoring the open letter about Palestine to refusing to acknowledge the layoffs bleeding talent and leaving them out to dry in a year of record profits, the commodification of gamedev achievements as a platform for more ads and more desperate and gross flirting with Hollywood... A bunch of people are also assuming the 30 seconds rule was explicitely put into place to prevent devs from talking about either topic during their speeches given the amount of buildup and controversies surrounding the event before it even started (I am one of those people), but that it then ended up hitting Aonuma just as much as anyone else might have worsened everybody's relationship to the event...

I have a lot to say about Naruto (evident by my past 1000 posts), but one thing that I never actually talked about was how much more likeable itachi would've been if there wasn't this whole plot twist that he "did it for konoha" and "is actschually the good guy".

It felt like kishimoto was trying to justify the massacre, which obviously doesn't sit right with me. Why did you have to make itachi a bootlicker? Itachi would've been much better if he stayed that insane fuck who murdered his entire clan for funsies??? Like imagine if he actually just did it because. He felt like it. Thought it would be funny.

If it stayed like this, it would've also called out the consequences of sending out children for war, a mere child wouldn't be able to take all that and go insane. Of course, "just for funsies" is also a bit strange, but we could've also gone down the road of "itachi hated his clan because konoha teached him that the Uchiha are scum and violence is a valid solution".

There's also of course the fandom's god awful perception of itachi, since everyone seems to see him as some misunderstood hero, which I also hate. But this also happens because this is how the narrative spins the story to be, and you really shouldn't expect dudebros to actually engage with their source material.

In other words, there's many ways to handle this, and I feel like all of them are better than "itachi was the good guy all along". I know this isn't as interesting as a lot of my other takes, but I'm thankful for the excuse to talk about this :)

Y'know what? Let's add a Scott/ to the Etho/ranchers Esmp S1 Au (I am the one that sent that ask dw I'm not just adding this to someone else's au/ask)

After Scott learned that the Codfather was married, he was horrified as he has been subtly trying to court the Fishman, not knowing that he was taken. Scott obviously stopped immediately, he wasn't a homewrecker! Even if he was a generally flirty person and was very much crushing on the other ruler

Around two weeks after that meeting, Scott had been invited to watch (and maybe participate) the bi-monthly fighting festival that was in the Codlends. Scott of course went, even if he wasnt courting the Codfather now if he can help it, he still would have to go as he had been directly invited.

When Scott had flown there, he had been greeted by the short man that was with Jimmy in the beginning of the last meeting, the one with blond hair and red accessories. The man who he learned was named Tango and was The Codfather's other husband, had excitedly shown Scott around as Scott was apparently the first ruler to have shown up so far.

Scott had primarily watched the fights, after all the way that Codlends citizens fought was truely interesting and in a way that was so fluid. When Scott did participate in a few of the fights, he draw them out ever so slightly but still in a fast and Rivendell like manner. Each time he had stepped out of the sparring arena after he won, he had been shown a good bit of praise and flirting from the citizens??

Aka fighting and how strong you are is seems as a very important thing in the Codlends and the fighting festivals are used as ways to flirt and show off your skills to the people your trying to court. (Cause I hc that polyamory is very common in the Codlends lol)

Jimmy and Tango are both blushing like mad after and during Scott's fights cause wow they didn't expect that with how Scott was built- while Etho just zones in on Scott's fighting style cause it is very unique and not like any other Rivendell elves that participated in these.

Scott was trained to fight from a very young age. His parents - ever so diligent - ensured he had a number of tutors from a wide variety of different places. Scott may not be a master in any of the styles he's familiar with, but he can switch between them as needed without missing a step.

It's a skill that has, unfortunately, been useful through the years.

And he has to make sure he puts on a good show for the Codlands people. He's here to represent Rivendell. Scott knows elves are often underestimated as being soft and too haughty to fight. He hopes he's put some of those rumours to bed today.

What he doesn't realise is that he's started a new wave of gossip. Jimmy hasn't stopped talking about Scott's fighting since they retreated into the royal box. Tango feels like he may just melt where he stands. Scott had been so put together when he showed him around earlier! He didn't expect that from him.

Nor did he expect Scott to look so good when slightly dishevelled, pushing long strands of blue hair from his face.

Etho finds Scott fascinating. He did during the meeting as well. He'd like to learn more about the elf, and Rivendell royalty in general. It seems like it's changed a lot since his time.

I like to think that our Snowball (and this era in general) has pretty traditionalist views when it comes to gender roles. Although in this time period, they're still considered a bit progressive in today's terms, they may have conflicting views of women and their place in society: like sure, they're allowed to lead (like Dr. Gaul!!) they're allowed to run for government offices and hold corporate jobs and such, but there are some of them (like Mr. Strabo Plinth, for example) who prefer their wives on the more domestic, stay-at-home side, projecting this archetype of the woman being the keeper of the home. I'd like to imagine that if Snowball's father is still alive, he'd likely have his wife do the same, and since Snowball's big on preserving his father's legacy and all, he'd most definitely adopt the same traditionalist views on gender roles

So here's where it gets a bit complicated: Snowball is aware of Nellie's smarts - in fact, he has already sort of used her abilities in his own rise to power by essentially riding in on Nellie's work which he never had a hand on btw (in the sequel, we'll explore just how he'll use Nellie again in his bid to seize more power after he becomes the president).

BUUUUT, no matter how aware he is of his wife's potentially formidable skills, he wants her fire a little bit more toned down - he wants her more obedient and submissive (to him ONLY of course!!) and we'll soon see just how much he gets off (literally and figuratively lol) on seeing her put on the traditional housewife image. So he sees Nellie as an equal, probably even more, when it comes to brain prowess, but his power-hunger-addled mind would never let her hold more power than him and would prefer her staying at home, raising his kids and keeping the house and more importantly pleasing her husband whenever he requires it 👀😳🫠

In my mind, Sachi and Kazuki and Daiken did their best to shield him from more of the physical punishments/abuse that came from their father and were more or less successful most of the time, but a few things not in that field stuck with him and traumatized him anyway.

Their father would sometimes take Kaito’s stuff and break it if he was mad or as a punishment. Not necessarily his most important/expensive/whatever stuff but just things that he had or things in the way. Little trinkets and what have you, but also gifts from school and from his siblings.

Sometimes Daiken would get the heads up from someone else that it was going to be too dangerous to stay in their apartment, so he would pack up some essentials and take his siblings somewhere else/somewhere safe for a few days. Sachi and Kazuki, even though they were young themselves, understood that they couldn’t take a lot of personal items with them and just made peace with that, but little 3, 4, 5, 6 year old Kai had a harder time with it. Daiken had a rule for him that he could take however many toys as he was years old (that he could hold onto easily) so it made him even more protective over his stuff.

All of this coupled with the growing up in kind of-poverty and only having so many possessions in the first place made it so that Kai is super attached to the few things he has, and Kaito now has big problems with people other than his siblings being in his personal space (which is kind of funny considering he also had the separation anxiety). In the current timeline they have a 2 bedroom apartment and the twins share one room and 21-year-old Daiken shares a room with 11-year-old Kaito (ikr) and Daiken knows not to really bring anyone by because he knows Kai is unreceptive to strangers being in his business. I also think his stuff getting broken/someone breaking his things and losing stuff are MASSIVE triggers for him and all of his siblings know that lol.
