should i have watched tfp first? absolutely. Did I? no. I was like "Oh its just a cute little kids show i watched it on netflix when i was little" GIRL WHY THIS SHIT GO SO HARD?!!!?! anyhow guess who the favorite is

i only just finished s1 and so far i dont think the kids know that their alien buddies are at war? idk if the war is still happening as of rescue bots actually but the way optimus reacted to the morbots got me thinking there's still shit to rock. btw graham best human.

they had no right making him look like that. i want to shake him. fills me with cuteness aggression but I don't wanna put a scratch in his finish. I love his little beeps but i've been spoiled enough to know what "he lost his voicebox in the line of duty" means in this continuity 💀

Dani and Blades in: the stupidest most unoriginal joke on this cog forsaken planet. Please nobody explain it to him he will not understand. he's gay. he's an alien. he has body dysmorphia.. some things are better left as just "human things"

GUESS WHO'S BIRTHDAY IT IS!!

in honor of my birthday here are some more rescue bots headcanons!!

they (as in constructed rescue bots) have extra color receptors which allows them to see more types of light than other bots, as well as advanced hearing (they’re also the only bots with noses so they have an extra sense)

all of them have outliers (its a requirement to be a rescue bot)

blurr changed his paint job (post s4, before he showed up in rid15) because heatwave and blades basically bullied him into it

the academy where they studied was on a moon of cybertron’s, and they actually spent very little time on cybertron itself. it was sorta like a field trip spot, and they went very infrequently

quickshadow was the academy's champion shot, and she won a bunch of competitions

the rescue bots all had specialties outside of what they actually did (heatwave was a history nerd, boulder studied xenobiology, blades took journalism, chase did psychology, quickshadow was a data analyst, hightide took astronomy)

hightide was actually friends with both orion pax and megatronus separately before they realized they all knew each other

in that same vein, servo and lazerbeak were longtime friends because they grew up together

optimus is so ridiculously tolerant towards whatever the rescue bots do that they actually have a running bet on how much they can get away with before optimus gets angry (he never once has)

blurr's reputation as most annoying bot ever has been intact since way before the war when he was a racer

blades got his name through an awkward mishap at an armory that heatwave never let him live down

related to that, all the rescue bots' "names" are really more of nicknames. their names are listed on documents but their primary identification is through serial numbers because they're cold constructs

boulder had a practically bullet proof reputation at the academy as the perfect student so whenever the others wanted to get away with something they always involved him

when salvage heard about DIY's he got super into them and started making tons of pointless stuff. he never even followed the good channels, only stuff like troom troom

chase succumbs to peer pressure ridiculously easy

heatwave gives really good advice but only on accident

quickshadow and hightide like to hang out and trash talk optimus whenever he does something they don't like

blades only has field medicine training, he's not cleared for any actual treatment outside of an emergency (he can do first aid and EMT stuff but can't, like, prescribe things or do surgery). this has not stopped him from trying things though.

salvage is actually from one of cybertron's colony worlds, but he grew up on cybertron

ok here's a fun little surprise in honor of my birthday: the humans are also included in headcanons!!

kade was actually very good at gymnastics, he just got bored of it

chief burns needs glasses but he prefers to wear contacts

dani had a very extreme scene core phase, and her hairstyle is a remnant of that

frankie has super high government security clearance as a super genius and daughter of one of the world's best scientists, so she knows all kinds of military secrets

doc greene and chief burns met in childhood, doc's family moved away, and then when he got older he moved back to griffin rock and reunited with the chief

graham is the biggest night owl because of college. sometimes, when he has trouble falling asleep, the bots invite him to movie night and they all watch reruns of old movies or shows

building off that, there are two kinds of movie night: the first is with the whole burns family, rescue team, and sometimes others such as optimus or the greenes. the second is less of a movie night and more of a "we need something to do while the humans are sleeping, let's watch trashy tv all night." this kind of movie night is really just the bots (minus whoever has night shift)

professor baranova actually used to be pretty upbeat, although she was a bit misunderstood because she's neurodivergent (i also headcanon that after the whole living underwater for 28 years thing she developed DID and multiple alters to cope with the loneliness, so she's now a system)

woodrow and optimus are in a qpr. optimus refers to him as his amica, and also privately thinks of him as his human partner

doc greene at some point developed a working synthetic energon formula completely independently. when ratchet first met him (post war, probably right before he was hired to work at the rescue academy) and learned about this he lost his shit

bumblebee and dani race together all the time when he visits

this is where i'm gonna stop this post, because it's pretty late for me lol. it was my birthday today, so happy birthday to me!!

"Oh my-" Optimus looked at his conjux, full of mud and dirt like if a dog play on outside "are you okay?"

"Yeah, just... I got some problems" Ratchet excused, looking with piercing optics to the two orange bots behind, Optimus looked at them with compassion

"I'll talk with you later" Optimus told the orange bots and they leave as quickly as their pedes let them, Blades was genuinely scared but Bumblebee patted his back to comfort him "what happened?"

"What happened?" Ratchet asked Optimus, but Primus, his optics were like daggers "THAT MED BOT IS THE WORST MED BOT I´VE EVER MET IN MY WHOLE LIFE!" Ratchet shouted at Optimus, throwing his servos to everywhere "ORION, HOW THE FRAG ARE YOU LETTING BUMBLEBEE GOT TANGLED ON HIS STUPID STUFF!?"

"Ratchet, please-"

"PLEASE NOTHING!"

"Please, stop! Bee is not a sparkling"

"BUT ACTS LIKE ONE, AND THAT BLADES IS NO BETTER!" Ratchet's faceplate was colored by blue while his engines roared in disagreement

"But why are you so angry? What happened?" Optimus took Ratchet on his servos

"DID YOU KNOW BEE IS MORE-THAN-A-FRIEND WITH A BARD?!" Ratchet took (and squeezed hard) Optimus' servos "A BARD WHO IS TRAVELLING WITH A BUNCH OF USELESS?! AND BEE´S GOING WITH THEM?!" Ratchet´s voice was like a sharp screech for Optimus´ audial, nonetheless, the notice got him out of guard

"Bee is going with them?"

"AND THEY´RE GOING TO MARRY!"

Ratchet was obviously grump and about to explode, but on Optimus' optics, it was like a super nova created a new galaxy

"You're kidding" Ratchet noticed Optimus' brilliant optics

"Oh Primus- Bee is going to marry?"

"FOCUS, GREAT-"

"I´m focusing, Ratchet, BEE IS GOING TO MARRY!" the smile on Optimus' faceplate was like seeing a star born, so bright and hopeful

"WITH A BARD!" meanwhile, Ratchet´s face was like seeing a hateful dragon about to burn an entire city "YOU KNOW HOW ARE BARDS!"

"But you were a bard"

"EXACTLY!"

"Ratchet, listen" Optimus pressed his fingers on Ratchet´s face to keep his attention "It doesn´t matter, you don´t know if they´re going to repeat the story, and, after all, the only thing important is Bee´s happiness"

"FOR THAT REASON HE CAN´T BE WITH THAT BARD!"

"NO! For that reason, he deserves to be with whoever he wants, and Bee is smart enough to difference who is good for him from who isn´t, don´t you think?" Ratchet still wasn´t convinced, but his optics softened and OP felt how his faceplate cooled

"Orion"

"Ratchet, is okay, and even if the story repeated, look at us" Optimus let go Ratchet "life put us on the same path again, it was going to happen" OP gave Ratchet a soft kiss on his forehead, Ratchet sighed

"What is he does something and Bee is who pays for it"

"In that case, we will be there for him" Optimus hugged Ratchet, he only replied to rest his head, later remembering he was covered in mud

"My Primus- No!" Ratchet yelled to the air, noticing Optimus was know a mess too, but Optimus replied him with a big, comforting laugh, Primus, Optimus was like a gentle giant that kept Ratchet´s spark warm, he also gave a smile, relaxing a bit, he was still worried about the notice but Optimus always managed to see the good in everything "How you do that? See the good on everything?"

Optimus meditated it a bit, and with a smile, he replied "the good is what keeps me going through"

I had a crazy dream the other night and it's an awesome AU.

So, it was basically the same plot of Rescue Bots, but when they crashed on Earth they lost their memory, only remembering that they were from Cybertron. Since Optimius doesn't know them very well, he can't help them.

They find records of themselves from a crashed Cybertronian ship and it's little snippets of things from their past lives.

I can't remember what the other 3 were, but Heatwave had a wife and daughter and the whole time he's trying to figure out if they survived the war

SO, if rescue bots wasn’t G rated, Blades would have totally gone off on Quickshadow just based off of her appearance (he would be so mean).

Quickshadow did break down into tears .3 microseconds after Blades was done speaking, Bumblebee is thinking of how to apologize to Quickshadow later for his mechfriend’s eratic behavior-😃

Heatwave is so embarrassed and ashamed, like how will he pull Quickshadow (yuh, I’m a religious heatshadow shipper) now with his teammate constantly spitting things at her the chance he gets???? 😭😭😭😭😭 Also random headcanon but I like to think that Blades can fully retract his window thingy.🥰

rescue bots headcanons !!!

chase has very strong opinions on pretty much everything. anything from the best multiple of 12 to how ants work (his opinions on these two are 60 and "they are very civilized creatures when they are not stealing food")

heatwave needs the most fuel out of everyone because he's a quadruple changer, and because synthesizing water from the air is surprisingly exhausting

blades watches the most mature television out of all of the original four. he's the only one who's watched anything rated higher than pg-13

boulder does volunteer work at soup kitchens and homeless shelters on his off days

none of the og's speak neocybex because of the whole stasis thing

blades' medical knowledge is super outdated (again, stasis--most of the major medical breakthroughs came after they left)

the first time heatwave met wheeljack he tried to deck him. they did not get along (this surprised optimus bc he thought they were very similar and would therefore get along)

quickshadow is jazz and prowl's kid

hightide and optimus used to on and off date (both ratchet and megatronus hated hightide)

boulder reads such a wide variety of books that he sometimes forgets what a normal frame of mind is. like, he reads books for toddlers to classic literature to those books of facts about ancient history. there are a lot of books in the bunker.

salvage dropped out of engineering school and then got a job loading up transport ships. always sort of regretted it, but kept his loader job up until stasis

blurr and heatwave were both trained as professional pilots. blurr had the transport ship he and salvage worked on, and heatwave was/is the main pilot of the sigma

quickshadow was one of elita-one's team members until the squad was disbanded

hightide is a cityspeaker and his suit was a gift from a titan

boulder has minor claustrophobia. it normally isn't too bad, but part of the reason he loves nature and the outdoors is because he feels free/not restricted

all the original four rescue bots were dorm mates during their academy years

heatwave didn't even want to be team leader it just kinda happened because of his natural talent for leadership. the others elected him as their leader and he just went with it.

chase is a night owl and usually does most of his tasks at night. he likes the quiet and also that means during the day he can focus completely on rescues

blades gets "grounded" ridiculously often by dani. like, "no tv for a week" type grounding not "no flying." blades thought it was the second one and was thrilled, and then devastated when he learned what she actually meant.

boulder is a clean freak. not a germaphobe, but he needs everything to be tidy

blades bet heatwave that he wouldn't make a "deez nuts" joke to optimus. he lost that bet but it was so worth it for the pained look on optimus' face when heatwave did it

hightide REEKS of salt. it's constant and everyone hates it.

blurr and salvage were both neutrals before they became rescue bots, which is why they've never done combat

all the official rescue bots (everyone but blurr and salvage since they were trained later and never went to the academy) have an outlier because forged rescue bots are built that way

also all the official rescue bots can easily bench press optimus. like, one handed. they're all ridiculously strong (again, rescue bots are just built that way. super strength is very important)

heatwave is ultra magnus's and hot rod's/rodimus's kid (he was raised by them)

rescue bots (official ones, not blurr and salvage) are exclusively cold constructs. they have to be manufactured to achieve the abilities necessary for their line of work (super strength+speed, outliers, olfactory sensors, different optic types, ability to scan extra alt modes, etc.)

after rid2015 the bee team was trained by the rescue bots to become rescuers (this is canon)

at some point before rba heatwave sorta became everyone's boss. pretty much every cybertronian of significant influence listens to him or works for him. this happened in a similar way as how he became his team's leader (on accident and because he just naturally takes charge)

the original four rescue bots are ambassadors to earth and technically all have government jobs but they just also do other stuff (teachers at the academy, rescuers, god knows what else)

game night, movie night and karaoke night are sacred traditions to the team and are taken extremely seriously. hightide refused to look at salvage for a month over a game of scrabble. optimus and bumblebee have both been forced to join in multiple times.
